That's it! THE restaurant in Göttingen. What other restaurants in Göttingen can't even begin to achieve is everything you can find here: top service from the chef himself, freshly prepared homemade dishes, with the schnitzel being the flagship dish! The small kitchen lets the staff watch their fingers! It's unbelievable how well organized this is. The portions are large and the quality is just great! You can sit comfortably outside in the busy city or in the cozy indoor area. This is how gastronomy should be! I'm thrilled!!!!

I just drank a good beer here because I was attracted by the ambience. The restaurant is stylishly furnished in a half-timbered house. The service is quick, but if you sit at the table for too long, the waiter will sometimes hit you with a cleaning cloth as you walk past to signal that you should pay in person.

We came across this great restaurant today by chance. A dream. Drinks, service and the ambience were a full tavern, that's what we had hoped for. The huge schnitzel with chanterelles and fried potatoes was perfect, unfortunately the Maultaschen filled with sauerkraut and porcini mushrooms were no longer available, so I had to be content with the meat filling and, to be honest, I'm happy. I have never eaten better Maultaschen! Surprisingly, the service and kitchen are mostly Asian, which is probably why it's so perfect.❤️ Friends: See you again.

I can't understand the many positive reviews at all. If you're starting a cocktail tour through the city here and need a full stomach, this is probably the right place for you, but unfortunately it can't score points when it comes to food. The many reviews led us here. From the breading that was way too thick to the mini fried egg, the food was quite a disappointment. The service clears the table while the rest are still eating. Maybe we expected too much, after all it is known for large quantities. The bright spot was that the drinks were served quite quickly.

I was here alone because I was traveling on business. I asked for a place for myself and after a bit of thinking I was seated at a table for 4 inside. I was about to order when I was asked to get up because the table was supposedly reserved. Why didn't anyone know this before? As an alternative I was offered a table outside - in the rain! Which I politely declined and went somewhere else. Ambience is a bit rocky and what I saw on the plates is not worth more than two stars! The main thing is that it's plenty and cheap, I don't think anyone will eat a single plate here. Something out of date in 2024 and in times of sustainability...

I would have liked the fried potatoes to be baked. So they were sort of marinated, but just hot, not fried or baked. The schnitzel was very tasty. The beer is great too. But for really good food, I would go somewhere else next time.

The biggest schnitzel that I ever ate. Really tasty food. My friend was eating chicken with vegetables and that just tasted really great. Belive me if you ever come to Göttingen and you are hungry you must visit this place! Bon appetit.

The main course came just as I was starting the soup. Not good service. The "Schlemmerpfanne" was more of a soup made from bernaise in which the meat and vegetables were drowned.

Local food restaurant although the waiters were Chinese. We took the very good and abundant ribs, and a fried Zander (Pike) fillet, the portions are all extra large if you are not hungry you risk leaving something behind, kind and rather fast service, very honest prices, excellent value for money.

Always good, always fresh, always quick. Almost always almost full. I wonder why! Bring hunger with you. Schnitzels are 20×30 cm.

You can sit outside here and eat well, for example one of the schnitzel variations on offer. The portions are huge and at a fair price. Luckily there is also Senior courts. The open red wine was very tasty and not too expensive. The service was discreetly friendly. The boss cashed in. We didn't receive a receipt (1 point deducted). We'd love to come back, but then we'd really like a receipt to check.

What should definitely be highlighted is the top price-performance ratio! Really big portions for a good price. My schnitzel was really good, the grill plate for 2 (would have easily been enough for 3-4 people) was perhaps on the grill a little too long. The service was attentive and with Asian friendliness.

Drinking is the main skill there. If you like large portions at a reasonable price, this is the right choice. All other requirements are not met. There were a group of which 3 got the wrong food. Not everything was right with the bills either (not always in the landlord's favor). All in all, you should avoid this restaurant. It's better to go 100m further.

Delicious, Staff friendly and attentive We felt comfortable

In the middle of Göttingen you can get super delicious food for more than fair money that is definitely enough for everyone. If you're particularly hungry, you can order an XXL version of schnitzel, for example, and that'll be more than filling! We placed our order and within 5 minutes the food was hot on the table. The service staff are also super attentive and always on hand… All in all, a delicious experience and can only be recommended!

The schnitzel at “Zum Szültenbürger” was huge and tasted really great! Crispy on the outside and the meat is very tender. We are not from here and were in Göttingen for a few days. I have to say that I have never eaten a similarly good schnitzel for this price (~14.90€) in my hometown. Both my husband and I were more than full from this good portion. Absolutely clear recommendation! We'll be back as soon as we get to Göttingen again.

What kind of a stupid homepage is this? Either you end up on Turkish sites or just advertisements that have nothing to do with the restaurant and when you try to open the menu, you end up on a weight loss program.😅. This is wonderful for overweight people who want or should lose weight 😆

Cozy classic pub or inn. Great, delicious pan-fried schnitzels in all variations at super fair prices. Great ambience, very cozy atmosphere in an old half-timbered house. Very well attended! Recommended and I would come back at any time. I eat well and enjoy it, but I almost didn't finish the schnitzel!

Review refers to the last visit on June 7, 24: The location of the restaurant is perfect and well attended. We've been eating schnitzel here off and on for several years. Unfortunately the restaurant has gone downhill. The schnitzels were big, but they weren't a highlight in terms of taste. The portion of fried potatoes became very small and tasted very soft or mushy. More effort was put into the salad. We will definitely eat there again at some point. Hopefully we will like it better again.

A beautiful timber-framed house from the 17th century, probably furnished with a lot of love and joy. There is enough space and you can find a nice position with the wheelchair. The location of the restaurant is centrally located and easily accessible from the train station. I would like to thank you for the service and the chef.

Rustic, homely, cozy pub. Very large portions that are freshly prepared in the open kitchen. The staff is on their toes and always serves in a friendly manner. It was very crowded when we visited. But the boss does everything possible to accommodate his guests. If possible, you should reserve a few days in advance. The dishes are very cheap and generously portioned. Price/performance unbeatable. What I really liked as a young Cologne native was the well-chilled Kölsch in the bar. 🍻

Delicious, crisp schnitzels and lovely interior decor, the atmosphere and ambience are very nice. I ordered the hollandaise schnitzel and would recommend it to a friend. The schnitzel tasted better than expected and I went in with high expectations. Portion sizes are large, and prices are pretty low for what you get - from memory €13.90 in March 2024 for a large schnitzel, a good serving of potato chips/croquettes, and a tasty salad. Only nitpick is - would have loved more sauce.

Were in high spirits due to the recessions. We made a reservation by phone and just managed to get a spot. Service was very quick. After we ordered and the food arrived, the pricing was no longer a mystery to us. It's very cheap to eat there, the schnitzels are very large, but the side dishes are small. Deep-fried schnitzel and ready-made sauces are not our world. If you like it cheap, you'll get your money's worth there.

We relied on the reviews and were full of anticipation for a great schnitzel...after a short wait, disaster struck...the schnitzels were simply thrown into the deep fryer and the sauce from the package...you could cook the salad Don't eat it because it was already dried out...the baked schnitzel could only be eaten in the middle because the rest was burnt...just terrible

The schnitzel in this restaurant is huge and tastes okay. I hope the sanitary conditions improve because that really affects how often we eat here.

I would actually have to write something really terrible so that so many people wouldn't want to come here, because if you want a place here, you should reserve a table well in advance. 😉 All joking aside: the new (for me) landlord is running the place really well. The service is quick and friendly, and the food is just as I always knew it from Szültenbürger: delicious, plentiful and inexpensive. If you really have a craving for schnitzel, you won't be disappointed here.

In the evening we made a quick decision and went in without a reservation. There is a good selection of German dishes on the menu and recommendations from the waiter. Very well made and extremely well priced for the size of the portions.

Schnitzel (paprika/Hawaii) tasted really good. Salad is also underrated as a side dish here. We were totally disappointed with the fries, which were completely dead and impossible to eat with a fork. Fried hard, rather warmed up again. No chance to eat. After the complaint, two Jägermeisters came to the house, but they couldn't alleviate the disappointment because neither the glasses were cooled nor the Jägermeister was cooler than room temperature. By the way... the neighboring table had nothing to complain about and also got Jägermeister. 😟🤣😂

Unfortunately I can't comment on the food or ambience because communication was impossible. I had booked a table for my wife's birthday, but because there was a big demonstration in Göttingen that day, we were stuck in a traffic jam. During this time I tried to reach someone every 5 minutes, 45 minutes, . No answer, when we got there our table was gone and no solution could be found. Conclusion: never again.

We visited this restaurant on our weekend vacation in Göttingen. A reservation makes sense as the restaurant is very busy. We were absolutely thrilled with the service, the ambience and the food. The food was delivered very quickly and was extremely tasty. The portion size was decent. See photo. The price/performance ratio is very good. We can fully recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back when we are in the area again.

The restaurant looked nice from the outside. Ambience too. We were seated immediately, but ordering was more difficult because the young Asian waitress didn't understand us. The food, on the one hand: schnitzel was unfortunately completely unseasoned and bland, and on the other hand, the "homemade" Maultaschen, which were supposed to be filled with potatoes and cheese. You couldn't see or taste any cheese, but the 6 Maultaschen were dripping with fat and came with a crème fraich dip that really didn't go well with it. I expected something different from a restaurant that is designated for “German cuisine”. As I looked into the kitchen, as I walked, I realized why the food had such an Asian touch...

6 small croquette balls as a side dish to a giant schnitzel, well. Nothing to complain about in terms of taste, the lumberjack steak was even better. It's horribly loud, you should install a sound-absorbing ceiling panel.

The Zum Szültenbürger restaurant is not recommended for a romantic evening for two. Luckily I wasn't there with a date! In the picturesque ambience of the restaurant I experienced an evening full of rustic charm and a lively atmosphere. The multitude of rooms and the inviting staircase gave the place a pleasant liveliness. Although the restaurant seemed slightly crooked - which I confirmed with a spirit level - this in no way dampened the magic of our wonderful evening. The culinary journey began with remarkable service. Upon request, the Jägerschnitzel was adapted to your own wishes - without sauce, but with refreshing lemon. The friendly staff member revealed that even the croquettes were homemade - a real treat for the senses. The Jägerschnitzel with sauce we ordered turned out to be a culinary dream: crispy, tender and simply delicious. The accompanying pale French fries complemented the taste experience perfectly. Conveniently, the bottles of mayonnaise and ketchup were right on the table. The white wine I ordered for 3.50 was excellent for the price. Where I come from, a glass of wine costs three times as much. But I also get a clean glass. Despite a less successful note with the fried potatoes without salt for the Hawaiian schnitzel, I am determined to visit the restaurant again. The chef juggles so many schnitzel variations that small imperfections in the side dishes are easy to forgive. A place that not only enchants with its sloping location, but above all with its excellent service and delicious dishes. I will definitely visit this wonderful restaurant again on my next visit to the university town of Göttingen..

One of those old school places that has stood the test of time. The building and the interior has an unbeatable old time charm. Food is absolutely delicious, with schnitzel being the obvious choice. Portions are massive; and the price to quality+quality ratio is incredibly good! Staff is utterly friendly and attentive.

I missed the friendly interaction on the phone when making the reservation. My request was to make a reservation for Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and the answer I got was: "Unfortunately that's not possible, Madame" in a very rude tone. In addition, I barely understood the “nice” gentleman on the phone. When I went to the restaurant with my friend on the Saturday evening at 8 p.m., we had to wait in line for a while, despite having a reservation. When a place for two became available, we were simply seated at the table with two strangers. This is not how I imagined a romantic evening for two with my boyfriend. It was also super cramped, crowded, loud and stuffy. Apart from the beautiful decoration, it reminded me more of a visit to the cafeteria. Since the food at the end of the day was very tasty, the portions were huge and it was really cheap, I still give it 4 stars.

Unfortunately, the schnitzels were of poor quality, gristly and laced with tendons. The supposed fried potatoes are ready-made, i.e. they have already been pre-cut industrially and once slipped through the pan, pale. I don't want to say any words about the salad. All in all, a lot of (Fr)food for people without demands! Ultimately I can only warn against this store! Here the boss lures even unsuspecting guests into the store, like in a primitive bazaar! Mass eating at €5 canteen level is the order of the day here! If you fall for it, it's your own fault...

Too full and uncomfortable for me Food was good. The only thing that bothered me was looking into the kitchen and seeing Chinese chefs tossing a schnitzel into a wok. 😂 otherwise still delicious.
