I would gladly give it more stars... From the ambiance to the service to the quality of the food, all 10/10. Huge selection of different meat specialties that you can't find on every corner. The price/performance ratio is definitely right here. Thanks to my brother (a student in Göttingen) for showing me this place 😊😉 Highly recommended!

Large portions, everything tasted good and well, what else can I say

Home-style cooking with huge portions at reasonable prices. Therefore, it's always very busy, not to say overcrowded: The tables are close together, resulting in a very cramped atmosphere. The service and owner are friendly and prompt. Not all of the waiters are fluent in German, so you might occasionally have to put up with incorrect orders. Due to the limited space, it's not particularly wheelchair accessible in my opinion. Due to the location in the pedestrian zone, you have to walk to parking spaces in the adjacent streets and parking garages. Our meal included appetizers and dessert, which is why our total per-person spending was higher.

Chicken skewers had to be recooked because they weren't cooked through. However, the service was excellent. Leftovers weren't completely wrapped up, and the fried potatoes were simply left out. Overall, the food wasn't anything special. The service and decor were good.

We had a reservation for 8:15 p.m., but still had to wait outside until 8:30 p.m. because the restaurant was completely overcrowded. Unfortunately, we weren't even offered an aperitif or a drink while we waited – with such a large crowd, we should have expected a bit more accommodating. The attempt to simply seat us next to a large group of men was particularly unfortunate – as a group of two (a man and a woman), you're usually looking for a bit of privacy. In general, the restaurant was so full that it was almost impossible to have a conversation at the table. Next to us, music was even playing loudly on cell phones without the staff intervening. That was a real shame. Despite everything: The food was excellent – ​​large portions, very tasty, and served surprisingly quickly. The drinks also arrived within minutes, and the service staff were friendly and attentive. The bottom line: the food was truly top-notch, but the extreme overbooking and the atmosphere unfortunately detracted from the evening's potential.

A must-visit. I wouldn't go here for the fried potatoes, but I would for the super ribs. Finally, in years, I devoured a really large portion of fresh ribs that fell off the bone by themselves. The schnitzel dishes at the neighboring tables also looked really good. Great, rustic atmosphere. Absolutely fantastic.

I think the place was quite overrated. The only thing they got going for them is the portions are really big. The schnitzel had too much breading and the spare ribs were not falling off the bone.

Went there especially from Osterode and can only say that there is no better restaurant with this price in the entire region. In the best city center location in Göttingen you get very good portions at relatively good prices. The boss is also very, very nice and attentive. We like to go here and also like to drive a little longer.

Rustic restaurant in the heart of Göttingen. The food was good and plentiful. The service was on point and always present. At least that day the chairs didn't get cold. There was quite a lot going on. I can recommend it without reservation. Bringing dogs is also no problem.

Price-performance absolutely bomb. Portions just right. A lot of heart when garnishing and the XXL schnitzel is a challenge for everyone. The food is absolutely delicious, the service is PERFECT and overall 100% recommended. I only didn't give it one star because the restaurant was quite cramped for me if you had to sit inside due to the weather.

May 2, 2025 We were back in town after about 7 years and reserved a table here. The service has deteriorated significantly. You have to order quickly, otherwise you will be asked to finally order every minute. The dishes are prepared with little culinary skill. All breaded schnitzels go into the deep fryer before the plates are brought to the guest. The menu includes a salad plate with the dishes. A small bowl with a handful of greens is brought. There should be white bread with the shrimp pan. It was probably over, fried potatoes were brought. I don't think it's suitable. Even though people were still eating at the table, the service specialist started clearing away. That's not possible and reflects the professional competence of the restaurant. We won't be coming back to this restaurant. No recommendations. 2018 Huge selection of schnitzel dishes. Super tasty. Service very attentive.

The kitchen should make fried noodles instead. I don't understand all the positive reviews. We were there Friday evening and it was just bad! Portion size is not equally good. We thought it was terrible! Even the one star here is still too much!

A nice place in Göttingen to unwind in the evening. I can absolutely recommend the grill plate. And the staff is super friendly and very service oriented. When I come back to town, I will stop there again.

You can eat there. It tasted good. But now this is coming. You could count the fries and they were very dark. Mayo came from a large bottle, which I'm not familiar with. The sauce for my (very large schnitzel) was very little, but could be ordered again upon request. I think this would have worked with the fries too. Still a star deducted. I'm deducting another star because we had to wait a little long for our food and also for payment. It wasn't (absolutely) full around 3:30 p.m. I would also like to point out that you shouldn't be sensitive to fried potatoes soaked in fat. The dark fries also indicate that there may be old fryer oil. We are full. I wouldn't go there a second time.

My husband and I dined there a few years ago. Everything was ok with my food, my husband ordered Maultaschen and they were fried so greasy that he had to throw up later.

The price-performance ratio is right and everyone is very nice and friendly. If you enjoy a schnitzel the size of a car tire, this is the place for you. But it's too crowded, too loud and too hectic. For a nice, cozy get-together I would go somewhere else but lots of people had fun.

Unfortunately not so good when it comes to accessibility and no wheelchair toilet! But still the ideal address in Göttingen if you fancy German cuisine! Yummy! 🥘

Food is absolutely bad. Fried potatoes weren't cooked through and were floating soggy in fat. Goulash tasted like dishwashing liquid and was more like a soup and the spaetzle was partly raw. Eating is not recommended here. Give it a wide berth!

Very rustic atmosphere, nice staff and a very large selection on the menu, the price is simply top for the portions and the taste is good. Very crowded even during the week, the seating was a bit cramped for my taste but otherwise it was fine. Small warning, the schnitzels XXL are really XXL, so order them if you are very hungry or want to take something with you 😅

I would give even more stars if that were possible. The atmosphere is totally quaint and rustic. The food was simply a success. Totally delicious and a normal portion is more than enough. Of course I had to try the XXL schnitzel and of course I didn't make it. The staff is absolutely attentive and always friendly. It can still be so crowded there. At the end there was a schnapps and I was really happy for my child, who got a lollipop. It's definitely not the last time I've been there!!!!!
