Zum Stiftl - am Marienplatz in München

The roast pork was very tasty. The Kaiserschmarrn, on the other hand, was a real disappointment. It tasted like it came from the frozen section at Edeka. The service was good.

Friendly service, but the food was abysmal. 13 euros for a single, cold, hard pretzel and a piece of dry bread with a dip. The café around the corner was 10 times fresher and better for one euro. The cheese spaetzle wasn't even warm enough. My rating might be different for other dishes, but I really can't recommend these two.

Looks nice, but is actually amateurish. Service rarely or never looks at you. We ordered two liters of beer and two hamburgers, where the beer was almost half full of foam. And then one burger comes reasonably on time but we are told that we have to wait 10 minutes for the next burger. At the end of course we had to pay the full amount and no sorry or excuse or anything.

The food was good. The restaurant has a rather modern Bavarian feel. The service seemed a bit unfriendly. There was a toilet attendant sitting by the restrooms, which irritated me because, in my opinion, guests are entitled to free use of the restrooms; you could give them whatever you wanted. The prices were reasonable.

Great shop in the spirit of a classic pub. Best beer at a great price, especially for the location. A visit is worth it. There are additional seating options outside on the street. Pay at the counter and take your order straight away.

The location is really great. We sat outside and got a seat for 4 people without any problems. For dinner we had the three sausage variants with mashed potatoes, the children had 2 x currywurst with fries, and a Pinsa Rustic. It was just so nice. The staff were very friendly.

That doesn't happen often in Munich anymore: reasonable beer prices, nice staff, central location and a pleasant crowd. You can also stay longer than 2 hours 😉

Location great, staff super friendly and accommodating. Not a big bar (no drinking hall or brewery), therefore quieter and no mass processing. Food very tasty and large portions (2 thick slices of roast pork). And the Augustiner beer with it is really delicious anyway. Reservations recommended. We'll definitely come back!!!

Spontaneously went to “Zum Stiftl” on a Saturday evening without a reservation – and the restaurant was bursting at the seams! We were lucky and got a table for two. The furnishings: modern, but with classic tavern charm. The noise level was correspondingly high – a real pub feeling. The menu is manageable, but offers fair prices. Particularly recommended: the Cordon Bleu in pretzel breading, hearty and accompanied by an excellent potato salad. And about the beer? No words necessary – just good! Overall, a thoroughly successful evening with an authentic atmosphere and home-style cuisine.

Very friendly service staff. Despite an unusually long wait and the information that it was "freshly prepared", the food was unfortunately not warm. It had to be returned and reheated. A glass of wine and a shot of schnapps as compensation was nevertheless a thoughtful gesture from the staff member.

The Stiftl has a modern guest room in a traditional tavern style with light wood and historical pictures. The ambience is friendly and open, the light wood creates an inviting atmosphere. As a host at both the Wiesn and the Oidn' Wiesn, he knows his way around and knows that friendliness and speed are crucial for satisfied customers. Morning pints are absolutely possible with the Weißwurst for €3, the Brezn for €2 and a large selection of beers. A place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city center, a little hidden behind the Donisl, in a small alley, which is right on Marienplatz.

Worst service in a long time, normally doesn't even deserve one star. Let it sit for 20 minutes, but the next table was served. There was no coffee, the machine was broken. Nobody could make tea in the shed either... What's the problem with boiling water?

A small but cozy restaurant in a central location. Friendly service, reasonable food and good beer. The menu is manageable but offers something for every taste. Prices are fair and appropriate for the size of the portions. There are also a few nice seats outside, which are covered even in winter and protected from the wind thanks to their location in the side aisle. Thank you for the good evening with you.

Good day, I had a chance to visit the venue for lunch on 30 December at around 1500-16.00. It was 4 of us. Despite the fact that it was very crowd all around the city and also in restaurant (it was a small place), we get a tabel for 4 persons and it was comfortable enough. The quality of ingredients for each meal (incl hamburger) is definitely worth to mention. We had: Bayerische Käsespatzle, Burger, Cordon Bleu and Zanderfielet. Kasespatzel, if only you are in general not "against" , it is recommended by me. It was creamy and with proper taste of cheese without any extraordinary tuning that is not needed. My friend had a Burger and was also very satisfied with quality of meet and sauce. I had a Cordon Bleu and it was crispy and tasty with side dish being "tomato salad" but here in "2.0" version, with cucumber (pickled and fresh), grated carrot, chivas and sauce with proper balance of vinegar and oil. Fish was fresh and sauce served within was tasty, still light despite cream inside and we think with a bit of saffron. We had local Riesling wine and I took Augustiner Helles, which is the local king and goes with all possible food (including sushi :)). As mentioned the venue is not a big one and obviously loud in consequances, but still you feel comfortable and do not need to seat on the "back" of the others. Toilet is very clean and there were nice service team taking care that all is under control. The only "minus" was very long time of service, so if you want to have quick lunch- it is not the place. For 5 dishes, wine and beer we paid for 4 persons all together around 150-160 EUR. What is also important to mention: the food itself is described as "Bavarian", however I would say it is a mix of Bavarian and Viennese (not even Austrian), what makes it very interesting and to be honest is nice contract to traditional "Bavarian" food you can have in few "Keller" around the rated "Stifftl". Definitely recommended due to ingredients quality and taste of dishes BUT you need a bit more time to have a meal from A to Z with no rush. More for lunch than dinner. Lukasz

Very very unfriendly man who places there. We didn't even get to eat because we were shooed away from a table that didn't have a "Reserved" sign on it. At the entrance there was no INFO "please wait, they will be seated. Very unfortunate.

Really great in the sun in winter. Quite frosty afterwards 😅 The beer is, of course, great. I'm not a pretzel eater but these are really great! The white sausages are also very tasty! The service is quick and courteous, so full points here too 😁

We were there last Friday with 7 people. Friendly and attentive waiter. Main courses were all brought to the table at the same time. The food tasted very good. I had the Brauhaus Schnitzel.

I just sat comfortably there (at Marienplatz) and drank delicious Augustiner beer. The service was very friendly and the beer was always nice and cold. There is another small beer garden in the inner courtyard. The restaurant is not particularly big but very cozy. The toilets could be bigger.

At a prime tourist location like this, often the service and food are sub par. Not here. Valeria served us with a friendly smile, a chat and without a notebook. The food was really good and we had a great time here. Inside tip: At the back they have a smaller cosy terrace too.

Top restaurant, great food, nice service. We were found in the neighboring shop (Hacke Pschorr Donisl) after several minutes Reception not served despite minimal utilization of 20%. And as a family we simply walked alongside us Augustitians. We were immediately assigned to a great table and served the perfect meal. There is another way 👍🏻 Thank you very much 🍻

Went with family, very loud, waited 45 minutes for food, service very inattentive (and it wasn't too busy). The food was rather expensive, the quality of the onion roast (€30) was mediocre, the potatoes weren't cooked through and we only shrugged our shoulders when we answered the question "I hope it tasted good". Tourist restaurant that doesn't value "coming back". Too bad.

At the beginning of October we ordered tables for 14-16 people at 6 p.m. on Sunday October 20th, 2024. This reservation went completely wrong. First our reservation was set for 8:10 p.m. even though we had confirmation for 6 p.m. Then we had to wait over half an hour for our table. Furthermore, we waited over 1.5 hours after our food order for the meals, which included sausage salad, Kasspatzen, mushrooms with bread dumplings and roast pork, goulash and onion roast. How can that be? The beef was ordered medium and came well done. The potatoes weren't fried well either. The sauce was, among other things, too salty. For the money I expect better quality than what was served to us. The 16 of us are very very disappointed because the food and quality was better at the Oktoberfest Matthias Landgraf 80686 Munich

I have tried the worst burger in my life there. The chef managed to ruin it in all levels - dry bun, burned patty impossible to chew, no sauce, no flavour. I don’t normally write any comments but this burger was like an insult for me that I couldn’t let it be. The atmosphere was nice and beer is good though.

Was there as an individual in the afternoon and still got a spot. Service: Service was very friendly and asked regularly if anything else was needed. Although there was always a lot going on and guests were turned away because everything was full, you weren't pressured to leave at all and were able to stay seated. If the beer was empty, you would be asked very promptly if you wanted to drink something again. Overall very attentive and friendly service. Eat: For dinner I had the Munich roast pork in beer sauce with dumplings and sauerkraut salad. The food was nice and warm and tasted very good, and it was also a good portion, so it filled me up. As befits the situation, there was freshly tapped beer from Augustiner, which tasted excellent and you could also tell that it was freshly tapped beer. This completed the meal completely. Ambiance: The atmosphere was very inviting and cozy, just as you would imagine a restaurant with Bavarian cuisine. Conclusion: I can recommend this restaurant to everyone, nice service, paired with delicious Bavarian food and an all-round inviting atmosphere. I would definitely come back on my next visit to Munich.

The food was delicious, we had the noodles with cheese. The plates were very large and very filling, we could have perfectly ordered two for three. The waiters were very nice and took no time to serve us.

We spontaneously had dinner there today with 9 people. The service employee who served us really made an effort to serve us and he was also very friendly. The drinks as well as the food were served at a good time, which is really tasty. I can recommend the brewery goulash with bread dumplings 😉 When we are in Munich we would like to come back.

Arrived at the door and saw empty tables. a waiter in Bavarian clothes asked if we were going to eat or drink. we answered we were only drinking. he guided us to a worse table in the back. after waiting almost 10 minutes I called him and ordered a beer. he refused to serve and said someone else would come, but didn't call anyone else to take our order. we waited a little more and decided to go drink somewhere else. if the employees here are not willing to take orders or ask someone else to do it, what's the point in having employees or expecting to have any customer?

I've been using km Stift'l for a little over 2 years now and I have to say it's perfect here. A good place to go in the old town to drink a good beer and eat. The service is top and Samir also guides, maintains and sets an example. And his team follows suit!!! And (almost) not to forget the most important thing. There is live football!!! For me it's a great catering business that's running so well, not least thanks to Samir and his good team!!!

After a long day of being a tourist, the terras out the back was the perfect place to be. The food, salmon and Hüttenburger, was served beautifully and tasted excellent. Waiter Branko is super friendly without being intrusive. I would give 10stars if it were possible.

I had lunch here with my daughter (12). Super sweet and accommodating. Great food and very attractively served. I stupidly forgot my bag in the toilet - it could have ended badly, but a regular customer handed it over to the boss, who immediately took care of it personally 🙏🙏🙏. This resulted in a very warm conversation that I remember almost more than the food itself 🤭 I can only recommend this restaurant in the middle of beautiful Munich. 💝💝💝

The food taste was OK, but waiting for 50 minutes for a Wiener Schnitzel is totally unacceptable. When the food finally came, it was without absolutely no sides like fries or mash potatoes or anything else that was offerer when the food was ordered. When we asked for a bread, the waiter said that we must wait some time because they are baking it. When he finally brought the bread, it wasn't hot. It was dried like it was left outside to dry out. The person next to us ordered the same food, which did have mash potatoes. Please avoid this place because Munich is full of great restaurants.

A little hidden, good dishes served, friendly staff, pleasant environment.

Great! It started with lukewarm food!!! But the waitress took the plate away straight away, and 5-6 minutes later there was a fresh plate with fresh hot food on the table. In addition, there was, sorry, a delicious schnapps on the house. Mistakes happen. Everyone is human, but here they were ironed out straight away and a little on top the service was very friendly, very helpful, very nice and on the ball. It's something you enjoy experiencing and something like this is recommended!

We were there again yesterday and are simply thrilled. For the first time we were there during the European Championships, which means there was a lot going on. Nevertheless, we received a very warm welcome. Even when changing tables because it was starting to storm, the service was totally friendly and helpful. Despite the stress level, the mood was very relaxed and we got into conversation with some of the employees. Even on the second visit with more people, the service was again top. The food is really of great quality and the price/performance ratio is absolutely right here. Changes/special requests are also no problem. 1A to the kitchen A huge compliment to Samir and his entire staff. You do a great job and we love coming back every time.

Ambiance is very good. Ordered three dishes, two of which came very quickly and the third only after a 45 minute delay. The service is inattentive and bad-tempered.

As a tourist from the US the pretzels are terrible. They are cold and hard. The service is bad. Probably the worst pizza Ive gotten in the 5 countries Ive backpacked. Only good for their beer.

The food is terrible, the pretzel was cold and hard and so is the pizza. Please save your money and at somewhere else, there are much better places around here. I came here with a friend and the server forgot to bring our food until it was cold.

The location is of course great and the prices are ultimately okay (half 4.50). The price/performance ratio is right. However, I wanted the meat loaf to be warmer and when it comes to potato salad, I'm pretty sure it wasn't homemade. Both were good in terms of quantity and taste-wise, but nothing for an above-average rating. What I always find stupid are these little mustard sachets of 10g each. What might be okay with fast food can be avoided in classic restaurants. There will be reasons. The service is fine, friendly, not too slow, that's fine.

So-so. The service was a bit inattentive. The half was badly poured (2 fingers below the line, but still not OK for €4.60). When asked, the drink was refilled, but after that the service noticeably deteriorated. The cordon bleu and the potato salad were delicious, the lemon slice was already needed (buahhh). So I personally don't have to come here to eat again. A pity...

Unfortunately, the food was only lukewarm and the onion roast was almost too tough to chew.

My husband and I happened to be there for the first time on Friday and were really pleasantly surprised. We both had the schnitzel and it was one of the best I've ever eaten. We sat outside at Marienplatz and the location is of course beautiful and central. Despite this, the prices were very reasonable and the beer was almost cheap by Munich standards. What impressed me most, however, was the service. We were greeted and served very nicely by a young, blonde lady. Your black-haired colleague brought us the drinks. Both were very accommodating. Even in the restaurant itself and on the way to the toilet, every employee smiled at me and helped me straight away. Because of the great atmosphere we stayed longer and drank a few beers. The only negative comment would be that I felt like I had to pay money to use the toilet even though it wasn't mandatory. This seems rather unusual to me for a restaurant, but may be explained by the large number of tourist visits.
