Zum Schießhaus in Dresden

We were very excited and were there with 3 people and spontaneously got a table. The food was great, great ambience and super friendly staff. I can definitely recommend this restaurant.

We decided to eat there at short notice. Called in the afternoon and after a short consultation two places were reserved. The restaurant was full in every room. The staff was still very friendly and the food came quickly and was tasty. We can only recommend the restaurant.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The dishes not only tasted good, but were also a visual delight. The portions were plentiful and the service was very friendly. The atmosphere was also right – all in all a very successful visit!

We spontaneously came here for dinner today as we were on a day trip to Dresden. - The atmosphere is super nice and cozy - The staff is friendly, open-minded and responds to special requests - The food is so damn delicious We had the garlic bread as a starter and the following main courses: Roast smoked pork, grilled sausages with sauerkraut and puree Neck steak with fried potatoes and braised onions

Great rustic food/restaurant and fast, friendly service! Recommendation: Large, tender (really huge) schnitzel, plus wonderfully tasty side dishes! The rump steak was also nice and big and tasted absolutely great👌🏻!

From making the reservation to leaving, we were completely happy. We went to the cool inn on New Year's Eve, damn delicious. Thank you for the all-round successful evening. We'll definitely be back.

Food very good. Appropriate ambience. Hunting utensils and hunting trophies hang on the walls. If you like it a little rustic, this is the place for you. If the weather is good, there are seats outside. Company parties are also organized. Buffet is not always possible. A small selection from the menu is then offered à la card. If there are several celebrations around Christmas time, the drinks don't go quite so quickly. My roast venison was rather stringy. That wasn't the case in the past. But every deer has a bad day.

Today we had dinner and drinks in the restaurant for our birthday. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Empty glasses were recognized immediately and the waiter was always at our side. The menu includes Saxon cuisine, pasta and delicious salads. Special requests were not ignored. The food isn't exactly cheap and some of the food wasn't of the desired quality. It was a nice evening, but we'll choose a different restaurant for dinner next time.

Great guest room. It's actually hard to describe, it has to be seen to be believed. From hunting trophies to wall paintings to one or two rather unusual figures in the windowsill. Food was good, service too. Only one less table here and there would have done the trick. It was pretty tight here and there.

Food might be authentic (we won’t know) but to us they were average at best. Service was below average. We had to go to find our waitress for everything we needed. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, just 2 tables when we were there 🙄. Nice rustic decor.

I came to Dresden with a group of German tourists and we visited Zum Schießhaus with about 50 people. The group received a duck leg, beautifully presented and apparently exceptionally tasty. I chose the vegetarian option and I don't regret it either. Great tasting dumplings with vegetable soup and a portion of salads. It looked beautiful and tasted even better. The potato soup and dessert - apples baked in cake - were also amazing. I am adding this place to my must-visit list next time and I will recommend it to everyone. The service is so genuinely nice that you feel like you are among good friends. Thank you very much for accepting me.

Contact on the phone when reserving the table was very friendly and accommodating, but service in the restaurant was rather cold. The food was average overall, but generally okay (meat on the sauerbraten was rather tough, hardly any dressing on the salad). The prices are a bit too high for that. However, the ambience is great.

The food was rather mediocre, and the unfriendly and careless staff was particularly noticeable. Therefore the positive reviews are incomprehensible.

Review update Nov. 7, 2024: Back in Dresden, and since the response of the management was so nice, decided to check the place again. And I’m happy I did! Within the week, I visited twice and can say that the food and vibe are still awesome! And the service is exceptional!! Pleasant, courteous and efficient. Back to be my favorite place in town!! One recommendation: since the weather is colder now, and obviously the outside seating is out for the season, I recommend to make reservations! As seating inside is limited, and getting filled up quickly. Let me start by saying - I love that place! I love the food, the atmosphere, and that it feels like an authentic German restaurant/gathering spot, and not a tourist trap. I’ve been there maybe 7-8 times, and as an American, I ALWAYS tip the waiters (15-20%), although I know from my German colleagues that in Germany a tip is appreciated but not required. With that said, I was very surprised when my server felt it is needed to state that the price doesn’t include a tip. That was the first time ever in Germany that I was told something like that. In fact - it happened the last 3 times I was there (served by the same waiter) that it happened… I feel that if I was local - he would never say that. That upsets me, and when you’re going to enjoy dinner, you don’t want to be upset. That caused me to skip going back now, and that saddened me, because of that server I won’t be back… I do want to add that the other times, other servers were very nice, attentive and service was great! I hope someone from management will see that and will get that delivered and explained to the servers… or maybe the wrong is on my end?!

They were busy when we arrived at 18:00 and we didn't have a reservation but there was a table reserved for later so we were okay until 20:00. Food was great, beer also good and so was the service. It's called the shoot house and the decore reflected this. Flintlock guns and crossbows mounted on the walls.

Real German cuisine with lots of taste

We went there on a recommendation because there was supposed to be a very tasty knuckle. Unfortunately it wasn't on the menu. Unfortunately, the ribs we wanted as an alternative were out...then it was the sauerbraten, which was very tough and dry. The second dish tasted very good, but the portion was out of this world. The ambience was very nice, the service was great!

The beef roulade was very tasty and the half duck that my friends had was also very tender and had a nice crispy skin. The service was very accommodating and asked, for example: whether we need more sauce.

Very nice and fast service, excellent food for the eye and palate, fine beers and a lot of historical and artistic things to discover on the walls in all rooms. We can highly recommend a visit. Thank you!

Great restaurant with down-to-earth offerings, good selection of beer and wine. The sweet things in life are not neglected either. The service is exceptional, fast, friendly, competent and always with an eye on the guest. You feel in good hands there and will be happy to come back. The Dresden Aborigines also seem to like it.

The two of us were there for lunch and wanted German cuisine. It took about 20 minutes from the time we arrived until we ordered the drinks. We then ordered the food straight away. 1x dumplings, red cabbage and roulade and 1x Saxon sauerbraten. The food was great, but unfortunately that was it Service staff completely overwhelmed.

Today we spontaneously went for lunch with four adults and three children. The service was very nice, the food came quickly and the price-performance ratio is good...We like being guests at the Schießhaus.

Delicious food, price quite high, service very attentive. We sat upstairs on the first floor, the children's play area was a bit annoying, but only the parents sitting on the ground can do that. During our previous visit we were downstairs in the restaurant, which is a lot more cozy and rustic. If you like good, down-to-earth cuisine, this is the right place for you.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Zum Schießhaus restaurant in Dresden and it was a wonderful experience! The place is very pleasant and offers a cozy atmosphere that is perfect for an autumn evening. The food was excellent - every dish was delicious and lovingly prepared. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly and attentive staff, who served us well as a group of ten people. We felt completely comfortable and well looked after. A visit to the Zum Schützenhaus is definitely recommended, especially when the weather is nice in autumn! My favorite "Steak au four"

Super delicious food and very friendly service. We hadn't reserved a table that evening, but they were still able to provide us with a comfortable spot. We felt very comfortable and would be happy to come back on our next stay in Dresden.

As others have said, this feels like a proper Saxony eatery rather than a venue catering for international tourists. Having said that as English visitors we were able to translate the menu and converse with the staff. The menu is huge and the beer is good. If you staying at the Holiday Inn in west Dresden its about a 10 minute walk.

Nice inn with good (home-style) food. The taste was very good, unfortunately the sauce was cold for us. But there were also a lot of guests there. The waiting time for food was quite short. Reachable in just over 5 minutes from Mitte train station (S-Bahn, tram) and in 5 minutes you can reach the Zwinger. There was enough parking available around lunchtime on Saturday.

Just stopped by the shooting house late in the afternoon and got a nice spot. The staff was super nice. The food was plentiful and extremely tasty. We would be happy to come and eat there again next time.

Experience a piece of Dresden. In the shooting range you feel like you are in another time. The historical atmosphere, combined with modern service, makes the visit an experience. The food is Saxon, down-to-earth and very tasty. A must for every visitor to Dresden!

This place is so good we ate there twice in 4 days! If you’re a fan of blood sausage or pudding you must order it here. We also tried the roulade and bratwurst. Great atmosphere with cozy old world vibes.

We are in Dresden for a long weekend. In the evening we were hungry and we came across the “Zum Schießhaus”. Very nice service (the nice colleague with the colorful hair) Food was excellent and plentiful. If you want to eat well in a nice, rustic atmosphere, you've come to the right place... A nice restaurant in the center of Dresden, easily accessible by public transport (parking is rather difficult here). There is also a beer garden here, but (unfortunately) you can only use it until 10 p.m. out of consideration for the residents. The food is delicious, the portions are a bit larger than usual, the small beer is 0.5 l, the large one is 1.5 l.

I really wanted to eat something German. That worked. Sauerbraten once and beef roulades the next day. We were with my aunt. She also ate something delicious. The atmosphere was great. Good care. I would also like to go there next time. I even got extra sauce.

Funny - you come alone around 8 p.m. 3 or 4 small tables available (note 1 to 2 person table). One of them with a reserved sign = 2 to 3 tables free = asked for space = answer: everything is occupied == ?? Nobody needs it, very rude. Then I went to the Italian restaurant around the corner, which in contrast to this location was a great experience!

Very rustic inside, really rustic and traditional. It's also good in the beer garden. There are even cushions for the wooden benches. There was nothing wrong with the service. Fast ordering and service too. The food is not exactly cheap, and the drinks are also relatively expensive. This time we weren't entirely convinced by the taste. My ratatouille in particular was way too spicy for me, so much so that I couldn't even taste the dumplings (which were delicious eaten individually). But everyone probably feels differently. However, it wasn't the first visit and so far we've always found it delicious. So there will definitely be a next time!

This was our second time here and we are always thrilled. A bit hidden but you can experience wonderful Saxon cuisine. Dining possible in the courtyard. We'd love to come back here
