Zum Schatten in Ulm

Ich war heute hier mit meinem erwachsenen Sohn zum essen, der hier studiert und das unbedingt mal testen wollte. Wir hatten extra für 2 Personen reserviert, wurden aber an einen von mehreren 12‘er Tischen gesetzt,, der dann mit fremden Leuten gefüllt wurde- was aber sehr nett und ungewohnt war. Kurz gesagt, es gab Schnitzel, und da ich finde man muss nicht eine Riesenkarte haben, sondern nur das was man verkauft „gut machen“ kann ich dies bestätigen . Ein tolles Preis- Leistungsverhältnis und schon eine mächtige Portion. - Gerne wieder, ein schöner Abend…

During a business trip I noticed the restaurant on Google and spontaneously visited it. I have a very clear recommendation. Rest of the ambience, good food, friendly service and all at a good price. Anyone who comes to Ulm has to take a look here. 👍🏻😁

I was here for dinner several times. It is advisable to reserve a table in advance as the restaurant is very busy. Anyone who comes here to eat will of course eat a Viennese-style schnitzel. You can choose from various side dishes. There are no senior portions, but there is a free plate for blackheads! The staff is always friendly and in a good mood. Your wishes will also be read from your lips! If you don't want to eat, you'll get your money's worth and can meet at the bar for a nice chat. The Shadow is a rustic restaurant. We were looking for the perfect schnitzel and found it here. We had reserved for 10 people, the food arrived at the table almost at the same time and all portions were very sufficient and well prepared. The staff was super quick, attentive and very friendly. It's THE place for a Schnitzel. And : super nice we got a spare plate as one meal would have been too much. We also had an extra side salad. Very satisfying meal and nice service too.

If you like schnitzel, this is the place for you. Very tasty schnitzels with different side dishes. Very large portions and reasonably priced. The shadow in Söflingen is worth a visit.

Our visit was on a Friday evening. I recommend making reservations as spaces inside are limited. We ended up sitting outside (you can't make a reservation outside due to the weather). The food was very tasty and highly recommended. The schnitzel tastes great, even if it used to be more, it is definitely still recommended. Service was nice and quick.

We spent an evening with the whole family - about twenty people. Nothing to say about eating, everything is really good and top quality. The staff were very attentive but always with that angry look on their face which was annoying. Not a bad environment, located in the center of Soflingen, a bit dark as a place and people look at you askance as soon as you make a bit of noise. All in all a pleasant evening, I will definitely return, but I will think twice before coming

The food was okay. But we had to wait 1,5 hours(!!) before we got our food (2 schitzels and some fries) Nor did they come to us in between to indicate it was taking a bit longer.

Service was great, unfortunately I didn't reserve a table because I was traveling alone. But the boss sorted everything out even though the store was very full. Had to wait a bit until the food came (which was understandable because the shop was really full) The food was very tasty and the drinks always came immediately after ordering... Loud. Overfilled. Not recommendable. It's best to come, eat quickly and leave straight away so that a new guest can take the place as quickly as possible. Schnitzel is now only pounded thin so that it looks as big as possible. Salad and fries are still good... But that's not why you come to eat schnitzel! And not just to be processed quickly... Cheeky. We don't go there anymore, the schnitzels are at least as good somewhere else and the price is right too..

Snel, goedkoop en veel Vriendelijke bediening. Wel even zoeken voor een parkeerplaats. Je kunt buiten op het terras eten. Konden het niet op en mochten een doggybag mee.

There were three of us there to have dinner and we didn't make a reservation (around 5:30 p.m.). We sat outside in the back courtyard, with the option of sitting inside. The same thing was ordered 3 times: schnitzel and side dish. You could then choose from several options as side dishes - We then decided on half fries and half cheese spaetzle. The price was more than reasonable for dinner (15€) and the portions were gigantic. In terms of taste, everything was surprisingly very tasty: small but crispy fries with paprika seasoning; good cheese spaetzle and a schnitzel that was too big. I would recommend that anyone who doesn't have the biggest appetite either share a plate with a friend or have the whole thing wrapped up or pack it yourself (they give you aluminum foil). After eating, 3 grown men were simply DEAD from feeling full, so remember the tip above. Service was always nice and card payment should be possible (as of June 30, 2022). Definitely recommended in terms of taste and price! Update September 2nd, 2022: Prices have increased! 2-3 euros more. Still very worthwhile :)

Toller und netter Service! Gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Schnitzel lecker. Beilagen können geteilt werden, so dass ich Salat und Pommes hatte. Die Beilagen waren früher etwas mehr (Vergleich mit früheren Bildern von mir). Aber man wird auf jeden Fall satt. Ich komme immer gerne wieder.

Definitely a little insider tip. It appears to be a pub, but only those in the know know that they serve really large schnitzels with delicious (cheese) spaetzle at a very good price/performance ratio. Portions are very large and really tasty. Very tasty every time. It's best to make a reservation or have good luck.

Wir können die positiven Bewertungen nicht verstehen: Hier kommt zwar viel Schnitzel auf den Teller. Aber viel ist ja nicht immer gut. Die Panade war bräunlich-dunkel und fest. Ein gutes Schnitzel steckt aber in einer luftig-hellen Panade. Das Fleisch war etwas trocken und damit genauso durchschnittlich wie die Pommes. Man sitzt im Schatten nun wirklich im Schatten, eben in einem düsteren Gastraum. Trotz freundlicher Bedienung sind diese vielen positiven Bewertungen eines der großen Ulmer Gastronomie-Rätsel. Immerhin gibt es hier kein Goldochsen-Bier.

As always, the food was very tasty but unfortunately the schnitzels have become a little smaller but are still filling 😂 Operation and service were simply top! Very friendly and quick. Always worth a visit again. Price performance for 2024 more than great!

Bestes "Schnitzel mit Pommes"! 😊👌 Das Wirtshaus ist für seine großen und leckeren Schnitzel bekannt. Zudem stimmt der Preis, was zu einem perfekten Preis-Leistunfsverhältnis führt. Der Service ist sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und schnell. Da die Räumlichkeiten begrenzt sind, ist eine vorherige Reservierung empfehlenswert, damit dem Erlebnis nichts im Wege steht.

Die Bedienungen waren sehr nett. Unser Essen, also die Schnitzel, waren gute und anständige Portionen. Für uns kleine Esser soviel dass wir jeder noch ein halbes Schnitzel mit nach Hause genommen haben. Schon was für morgen zum Mittagessen. Preis/Leistung ist sehr gut, Geschmack ist auch gut, aber jeder hat seinen eigenen. Wir saßen im kleinen Aussenbereich, Biergarten?, innen war es alles ziemlich dunkel. Parkplätze gibt es leider keine. Man muss rumfahren und irgendwo in der Nähe, mit viel Glück, einen finden.

Op weg naar Italië hier gegeten (op de terugreis waarschijnlijk ook weer). Lekkere schnitzel (groot!) en dito frites. Eenvoudige kaart en restaurant en erg vriendelijke bediening. Overigens zijn de prijzen ook vriendelijk en kan je de schnitzel niet helemaal op, dan is meenemen van het restant ook geen probleem. Aanrader!

War vom Essen sehr beeindruckt. Auch das Ambiente hat was: sehr urig und toll. Auch preislich ist der Laden sehr. Komme gerne mal wieder hier her, wenn ich in der Nähe bin.

Mein erster Besuch im Schatten... steht im schatten vom lauwarmen Cola-mix und einer Speicherkarte die nur aus "Schnizel nach Wiener Art " besteht .Mehr gibt's nicht ! Wer also gerne Bier trinkt und im Hinterhof-Schatten sitzt ist hier bestimmt richtig

Wie immer lecker, und sehr freundliches Personal

Wir waren am Freitag zum essen im Schatten. Das Schnitzel mit Käsespätzle war lecker. Die Panade knusprig und das Fleisch zart. Der Wurstsalat war schon angerichtet und lecker. Was uns nicht gemundet hat war die Soße zum Schnitzel mit Spätzle, die schmeckt bissel nach Fertigsosse. Aber einen Besuch ist der Schatten auf jeden Fall wert.

Heerlijk gegeten. Simpele kaart, maar meer dan een goeie schnitzel en bijgerecht heb je ook niet nodig. Porties zijn wel mega groot, dus echt waar voor je geld!

Das Essen war sehr sehr lecker und reichlich, mußten gleich 2×in unserem Kurzurlaub dort einkehren, wir kommen recht bald wieder, weiter so

Kleine Kneipe mit Biergarten. Und solange du Schnitzel magst wirst du hier auch was Gutes zu essen finden zu einem vernünftigen Preis.
