We had reserved a table, recommended. We were very satisfied. Food was on the table quickly and very tasty. Afterwards we had a great evening in the nearby Neue Tonhalle/Heinrich del Core. Recommend to the cuckoo beforehand 😃

Totally overrated, had the spaetzle burger, the pattie was dry and burned out for far too long. The spaetzle wasn't the best either. For the rating as it is here on Google, it is a bit overrated. The other guests also didn't think their schnitzel was as good as expected, apart from the schnitzel, some of the fried potatoes were already over-fried and really not good.

I was there for lunch with a group today; Even though we ordered it in advance, it took almost an hour for the food to arrive. The fried potatoes were completely burnt and the service left a lot to be desired. It's a shame, it was actually always okay on previous visits.

Hi, It was our first time in the restaurant (2 adults and 2 small children for lunch). Even though we hadn't made a reservation, we were greeted very warmly and given a table. The service staff was super friendly and on the ball. As a family with small children, it is not always easy to find a “child-friendly restaurant”, but everything is right here. There are enough children's high chairs and a children's card that you can color in (we were also provided with the crayons). In the changing room there is also a toilet with a reduced seat, a stool at the sink and even an extension for the tap has been thought of. The food was really delicious and really good value for money for handcraft and regional products. We will definitely come back!

The Maultaschen together with the cherry ham sauce are a must. All the waitresses are very courteous, friendly and attentive. We thank you for the great time!

The service was very bad. When the food was served, the guest was not even wished a bon appetit and when it was served, no one asked whether everything was OK. The soup was boring, everything was missing. The main course for just under €30.00 is too clear. You could also see at many tables that the food had gone back. It's a shame, actually a nice location.

Super delicious traditional food! Top location in the old town of Villingen. There were six of us and we chose everything from the aperitif to the starter to the main course and much more. We can highly recommend the place! 😂 We’d love to come back 👍🏻😎

February 2025, weekend 4 p.m I would recommend pre-ordering as it can get busy. Parking is difficult but not impossible. Our (4 people) order was unusual, unfortunately it overwhelmed the staff. Three times only a main course, once a starter and dessert but no main course. First (!) the dessert came, after 5 minutes the starter for the same person, the other three people at the table got their food after another 5 minutes. That doesn't work. The taste of the drinks was okay and the selection was very diverse. The food also tasted good and was visually presented nicely. Dessert "cake" is served in a glass, personally not my thing, but it was tasty. Cappuccino and espresso were fine. Another drawback was that we were used without being asked. It's absolutely not my thing since we're all 40+. Some of the staff appeared cold (unmotivated (?)), although one waiter had a very warm demeanor. Unfortunately only one. Toilets are okay, but the prices for the dessert are a bit too high...for cakes by the glass.

We decided to have lunch here on a whim. The menu and daily specials are very diverse and appealing. There is something for everyone here. It was immediately apparent that the soups and sauces were prepared from scratch. Delicious. We'll definitely come by again.

No, the fried potatoes were mushy and gray when finished and that is sold as BLACK FOREST KITCHEN.

Great experience – Highly recommended! The staff is warm and attentive, you immediately feel welcome. The ambience is nice and simple – just right to feel comfortable. The prices are absolutely reasonable and the menu offers a nice selection. I would describe the cuisine as good, home-style cooking. The dishes taste fresh and very tasty. If you're looking for honest food in a pleasant atmosphere, you should definitely stop by here. Absolutely recommended!

Large menu, also with vegan selection! I think it's great that you have a choice of main courses here and there are also vegan starters and desserts. The vegan dishes taste great (also to the Omnis who have tried them). Was very warm & cozy! Unfortunately, the toilet can only be reached via a large staircase and you can only get to the restaurant via a few steps. Certainly important information for people with walking difficulties!

We were there on a Friday evening for a Christmas party. We have already selected the main courses in advance so that waiting times can be shortened. That went really well, many of us had the saddle of venison and the zander fillet, both very tasty. The starters (salads and soups) were also delicious and, considering they were starters, the portions were very generous. In retrospect, I was very happy about it because I wouldn't have been full with the main course alone. The desserts were also large portions, the chocolate cream was more of a chocolate mousse, but everything else was fine. I personally found the service, regardless of the food, problematic. We didn't know exactly who was actually responsible for us and not all the drinks always arrived; we sometimes had to order several times. I found that a bit of a shame...

Very, very tasty food, the vegetarian homemade Maultaschen are also soooo delicious! The waitresses are always attentive and super friendly, highly recommended! The dessert menu could be expanded a bit - but that's just my personal opinion.

Good bourgeois cuisine. Price performance is okay. The service is attentive and tends to come to the table twice. The small salad was dressed with a subtle sauce and went perfectly. My farmer's schnitzel was good, nicely prepared and overall it went well with the sauce. The meat was well fried, not dry, and the fried potatoes were also well fried. The farmer's schnitzel is with egg and bacon, which is a good combination. However, because I ordered a cherry bacon sauce, the salt content is on the high side. I personally don't think it's that great, but it's still a good dish that I can recommend. I'd love to come back.

I was alone with two small children looking for a place to have lunch. And by chance and a lot of luck I came across this very child-friendly restaurant. The little ones were able to keep themselves busy in the children's corner until the food came. Even a dropped drink was replaced without any problems and was not charged for. The children were given children's cutlery and plates without being asked. The children and I felt very comfortable. Even our previously somewhat tense mood was blown away after this experience. We were there on Saturday at 4 p.m. It wasn't full yet. We went there specifically because we had children with us and we noticed that there was a play area here. The food was very tasty. But what I particularly noticed for the first time was how child-friendly it was. Coloring menus, a play area, a children's toilet and a changing area. This happens far too rarely in VS. We also had two dogs with us and of course a water bowl was put there without asking. Wow, we felt absolutely comfortable and would love to come back! :)

We were invited, otherwise I would very likely have annoyed... about price/performance, condition of table, chair, menu and especially about the time it took for the food to arrive. Black Forest all sorts 26.90 euros A grown man couldn't get enough of it and maybe that's how it has to be, the cheese spaetzle was swimming in the fat. 2 people had breaded pork schnitzel, the top schnitzel was nice and "golden", the bottom one was very black... just about on the verge of being eaten. But let's start at the beginning, the table was booked for 6 p.m., we were there at 6 p.m. and were kindly taken to our table, which unfortunately was carelessly cleaned! The floor and the chair were sticky from the previous person's spilled drink... Had to point this out to the waitress and ask her Bring a cloth so you don't get stuck on the chair. Since the menus are loose pages on a clipboard, It shouldn't be a problem to replace them regularly, Ours were very, very worn and looked pretty rancid. We ordered around 6:30 p.m.... The meal took much longer than expected. (according to many reviews, the food comes very quickly) There were five of us... it took over an hour until we all had something to eat. The food tasted good, but not exceptional! Maybe we had a bad day, But I don't go there with several people anymore! Some tables of two who arrived far after us had their food clearly in front of us...

Sometimes you have to wait a while for the food, but since you meet the most beautiful women there, the time is never long.

I have celiac disease and was able to eat a gluten-free schnitzel with fried potatoes here - it tasted fantastic! The service staff was super friendly. There is a lovingly furnished play area at the back of the restaurant for children. We ate there again two days later because we liked and enjoyed it so much. Big recommendation!

Food was ok, but really nothing special. Waiting times were unreasonable, so you could hardly enjoy the food. Long waiting time even for drinks, no questions...it was like self-service. All in all, I found the food very expensive, considering that we sat on a beer bench on the street and had to wait so long...we chose our own seat, but the price and performance here are not right for me. I'm not coming back.

You come in and immediately feel at home, the ambience appealed to me immediately. Food is very tasty and if it tastes good, you don't need 30 dishes! There is a small mango, but this is probably due to the structural requirements; toilets and kitchen are on the first floor. The staff no longer needs a gym!!! I'd love to come back.

We were at Kuckuck for lunch on a Monday and all the tables in the upper (nicer) area were occupied. The friendly waiter (who later identified himself as the boss) immediately offered to let us know as soon as a place on the 1st floor became available, which worked. We both ordered lunch menus, which were both very tasty. The soup of the day was also very tasty. In short: delicious food, great service and good price/performance ratio, gladly again🤗

Very tasty food and even better service. We received great service throughout the evening and even at a late hour we were still full of energy and had a smile on our faces. There's not much more that can be said about the food other than that all expectations of a delicious German restaurant were met. Very clear recommendation from me. The Cordon Bleu tastes fantastic with the spaetzle and is a must-try. Card payment is also possible here.

In this restaurant the guest gets the food first and then the cutlery. For some guests it took quite a long time if the waiter was delayed. Not so professional, given the high prices. I had cream slices with spaetzle. However, this was more of a children's portion. In order to be able to eat the remaining Geschnetzeltes with Spätzle, I asked for some more Spätzle. I got these too. However, these were fully accounted for. Interesting if this is the business tactic to generate further sales rather than happy guests coming back. In order to cover up the calculation of the spaetzle, when we paid we were only told the total price (€66.30 for two people), not a list of the individual amounts. Since I asked for the receipt after paying, I was only able to see what was charged. We have an obligation to issue receipts, but it's not clear to me why this is ignored in the cuckoo. Maybe also to cheat the tax office. The restaurant actually has potential, but these events obscure everything.

We were here for dinner and we had a very good time both for the kindness and for the food we ordered. We had our two Dalmatian dogs with us and they were very welcome :) I would also like to point out that the choice of vegetarian dishes on the menu is really very wide!! Compliments :)

Il locale è molto bello all'interno e si può mangiare anche fuori, però non c'è il climatizzatore all'interno (almeno a me no parecía che ci fosse). Sono venuta qui a cena in famiglia in vacanza. Il servizio è un po' lento, ma alla fine vale la pena aspettare perché i piatti sono belli esteticamente e sono anche molto buoni. Anche il prezzo ci sta. Il ristorante è molto bello, anche se il menù è completamente in tedesco: io e i miei genitori abbiamo dovuto usare il telefono per tradurre. Consiglierei vivamente di mettere sotto il nome e la descrizione del piatto la traduzione in inglese per i turisti, especialmente se non sanno il tedesco.
