Everything just fits perfectly here: top-notch friendliness, good, honest food at a reasonable price. I had Maultaschen with chanterelle mushrooms, in keeping with the season.

We managed to get a seat again. As always, the service and food were first-class. This time, we reserved a table right there on the spot for our next culinary delight.

This is what every German restaurant should be like! Unfortunately, you almost always have to make a reservation—that's the price you pay for such success.

5 stars A real highlight in Wetzlar! I've been to Kesselchen a few times now – and I've been impressed every time. The food is consistently of a very high standard, prepared with great attention to detail, and incredibly delicious. I have to particularly highlight the Maultaschen: simply a dream! So much flavor, perfect consistency – it couldn't be better. But everything else I've tried so far has been excellent, too. From hearty classics to creative surprises – the quality is simply top-notch. What rounds it all off is the staff: super friendly, attentive, and professional. You immediately feel welcome and in good hands. A place where you leave not only full, but happy. Absolutely recommended for anyone who appreciates good food and a great atmosphere. I'll definitely be back – and I'll bring friends next time!

We ate there today with four adults and three children. There was something for every taste—anyone with children like ours knows what that means—and the food was fantastic. Homestyle with a touch of Swabian. The portions were large and beautifully presented.

Definitely worth a meal. A disadvantage for those with walking difficulties: There are stairs to the restroom. The entrance and dining area are wheelchair accessible.

A super great little restaurant! Unfortunately it's always fully booked, so be sure to reserve! The schnitzels are definitely the best in the Wetzlar area! Price performance is top and reasonable! Service is super friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is very cozy and familiar, as well as a small outdoor area with seating, perfect to enjoy in warm temperatures. Location right in the old town.

A small cozy restaurant. The map is clear. The service is good. The food was tasty and of good quality and the portions were sufficient. The prices are justified. I can recommend this restaurant. It's better to make reservations for a visit.

5 stars are actually not enough to rate this restaurant. Let's start with the super attentive service, where the Swabian charm is the cherry on the cake. Here you are always greeted warmly and the fact that the service still knows what you ordered four weeks ago speaks for itself. The atmosphere can be described as cozy and stylish. There are "real" towels in the toilets (I personally think they're great), hand cream and deodorant. Let's get to food. It is simply indescribable and I can only recommend it to everyone. Large, freshly prepared portions for a more than fair price. Everything is freshly prepared and very seasoned. Here is a perfect mix of German home cooking and Swabian specialties. I was and am in love with the store and will take every opportunity to stop there. Really the best restaurant in a large area.

We went there for dinner last week. We were very disappointed!! We didn't like it at all. Firstly, the service was far too hectic and secondly, there was far too little choice on the menu. We won't be going there again!!

Gluten-free food in Wetzlar! I was there for the first time by invitation. Because I have severe celiac disease (gluten intolerance), I had previously thought about what I should eat. Zoeliak disease is a household name in the Kesselchen. They know their stuff well. Sauces are thickened with corn starch and schnitzels are breaded with gluten-free breadcrumbs from Schaer. To avoid contamination with flour, extra pans are also used. The portions are designed for large appetites. After a long time, it was time to go out to eat again without subsequent problems such as stomach cramps and diarrhea. I recommend that you reserve a table and state your celiac disease because the restaurant is very busy. I will go there more often now and enjoy the food.

Whether it's schnitzel with fresh mushrooms, ox cheeks, or the homemade Maultaschen (ravioli) that absolutely exceed all expectations. ❤️ The owners are always super friendly, kind, and accommodating. A small, fine restaurant with beautiful Christmas decorations. The owners put a lot of effort into it. We always feel very comfortable here.

We were with a larger group at “Zum Kesselchen” and had a really wonderful evening there. We made reservations in advance, which I would recommend to anyone who is also planning to eat here! The owner is extremely friendly and incredibly accommodating. You immediately notice that hospitality is very important here and that you feel completely welcome as a guest. The prices are fair and absolutely reasonable. The food itself is a highlight in itself: German cuisine is excellently presented here, and every dish was a delight. From classic dishes to lovingly prepared variations – everyone will find something here and the quality is top. Everyone in our group loved it! Conclusion: “Zu Kesselchen” is an insider tip for everyone who wants to enjoy German cuisine in a warm ambience. We had a great evening and would love to come back.

Our telephone reservation went great. I left a message on the answering machine, but was called back with my appointment confirmation. Went great. The service was great as all the food and drinks were explained to us. I haven't had such a good onion schnitzel in a long time. The restaurant is not particularly large, but we felt very comfortable. If you're not on foot but driving a car, there are good parking options within walking distance. A reservation is recommended.

It was closed for a while, visited again today and was totally thrilled!!! Another opportunity to sample German cuisine. Everything was freshly made, portions were very good and super tasty. It's nice that it has reopened. I'll treat myself to this more often. Kind regards. Peter Stey

I would give 10 (!) stars if I could 😉 Incredibly good food at very fair prices. There is absolutely nothing to complain about, on the contrary. You can also call the kettle “the little insider tip” in Wetzlar. Here the food is prepared with a lot of love and skill. And you can taste it. I haven't eaten so well in a very long time. All time favorite for me and my family. From my daughter (5) to my grandma (83), we LOVE the restaurant, the owners and the food! We've never left the cauldron hungry or disappointed. The restaurant is always full and the time in which you have to make a reservation speaks for itself. ♥️

One of the best and most authentic restaurants we know! Warm and friendly owners, with high quality German and Swabian cuisine. Great drinks and a nice ambience at the foot of Wetzlar's old town. It's better to reserve early to get a spot. In summer you can sit at the restaurant in the middle of the pedestrian zone. 5/5 just a great place! We recommend

We ate here in a group and the behavior of the service manager was unfriendly and rather very directive. I didn't feel welcome or valued as a guest. The quality of the food was satisfactory - good craftsmanship - but not outstanding. The price-performance ratio is okay. The decor of the restaurant is simple and when the room is full it is difficult to have a conversation due to the background noise.

Ich war hier, weil eine Kollegin, von diesem Ort, so geschwärmt hat. Wenn ich ehrlich bin, wäre ich daran vorbei gelaufen, da es von außen sehr nach Kneipe aussieht. Aber ein Blick in die Fenster lohnt sich, denn es hat nichts mit einem Kneipe zu tun. Hier handelt es sich um ein süßes, kleines, feines Restaurant. Die Betreiber, vermutlich, ein verheiratetes Paar, stecken sehr viel Liebe und Zeit, in ihren Betrieb. Es ist sehr familiär und man hat sofort das Gefühl, dazu zu gehören. Das Essen ist sehr gut, reichlich und die Preise angemessen. Eine Reservierung im voraus ist nötig, da so beliebt. Ich würde mich freuen, wenn ich wieder kommen könnte.

Essen war ein Beerdigungskaffee. Von daher keine Aussage zu den normalen Speisen möglich. Die Leute waren sehr freundlich. Das Lokal ist recht gemütlich. Zu empfehlen!

Im Kesselchen bekommt man gute, leckere, deutsche Küche. Schön, daß es so etwas in Wetzlar noch gibt. Unbedingt reservieren , es gibt noch mehr, die das leckere Essen und die Gastfreundschaft schätzen.

Das Essen war wirklich sehr lecker und ausreichend. Die Bedienung (der Chef selbst) war freundlich und trotz vollem Laden und alleine im Service zackig und immer gut gelaunten einem flotten Spruch auf den Lippen. Das Kesselchen liegt schön gemütlich in der Altstadt und lockt mit authentischer schwäbischer Küche.

Sehr leckeres Essen und ein Wirt der seinen Job liebt. Hier hat alles gepasst - absolute Empfehlung!

Wir waren als Schützenausflug mit 29 Personen im Lokal . Das Lokal war sehr schön die Bedienung sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und schnell man mußte nie lange warten das Essen war super es hat mir sehr gut geschmeckt und wir hatten alle gleichzeitig das Essen bekommen ein super Lokal es ist nur zu empfehlen die erste Adresse für mich wenn ich wieder hier bin . Vielen Dank an das ganze Team war ein schöner Abend

Klein aber fein. Heute mit 30 Personen das Lokal besucht. Selten so eine gut organisierte Küche und freundliche Mitarbeiter erlebt. Sämtliche Essen waren ein Traum. Ich empfehle die Rinderbäckchen.

Super Essen! Wo findet man noch Ochsenbäckchen auf der Speisekarte. Schwäbischen Einschlag. Maultaschen sehr lecker. Selbstgemachte Limo auch sehr lecker. Auch der Mittagstisch lecker und preislich ok für die Qualität. Die Gans in der Weihnachtszeit absolut super. Wirt sehr nett und locker drauf. Einziges Manko: man sollte reservieren immer sehr ausgebucht. Habe Anfang September angerufen für 15.12. Keine Chance für Freitag oder Samstag bis Weihnachten einen Tisch zu bekommen.

Uriges Ambiente mitten in der Wetzlarer Altstadt. Hervorragende schwäbische Küche, auch für Vegetarier genug Auswahl. Ist ein Besuch wert.

Wow, lange nicht mehr in einem Lokal so gut gegessen. Dürfte es eigentlich gar nicht weiter empfehlen, denn die wenigen Sitzplätze, sowohl innen, als auch außen, sind sehr begehrt. Schon das Baguette und die selbstgemachten Kräuterquark, haben mich verleitet, zu viel zu essen. Dann hatte ich gefülltes Schweineschnitzel mit super Salat und großen Pommes. Ich konnte nur das saftige Schnitzel und ein wenig von dem leckeren Salat essen. Die Pommes musste ich leider fast komplett zurückgehen lassen. 😥
