Simply a great place. The food was delicious, and the service was simply fantastic!

I had a Frankfurter schnitzel with fried potatoes. The fried potatoes were more like potato chips than fried potatoes, far too greasy and crispy for fried potatoes. The portion was far too small for the price, and my companions' portions were also rather small. The chairs at the tables are far too low to eat from. One of the waitresses was a bit arrogant, which isn't always a bad thing if you're doing a good job, but our salad bowls were left sitting on the table the whole time. So, poor service for the price. The only thing I really have to highlight is the stylish decor, a nice mix of modern and half-timbered.

In the large hall with lounge music, pleasant for me at 66. Service is good, and the best Wiener Schnitzel I've had in a long time.

I recently visited Haferkasten in Langen and was absolutely thrilled! The food was incredibly delicious – fresh, homemade, and full of flavor. You can immediately tell that the food is cooked with love. I especially liked the regional specialties offered, and the apple wine was a real highlight! The ambiance is super cozy and invites you to linger. You just feel at home. The new vineyard outside is also really beautiful – perfect for a relaxing evening outdoors. The service was friendly, attentive, yet pleasantly unobtrusive. You can tell that the team puts their heart and soul into their work. I highly recommend Haferkasten and am already looking forward to my next visit!

Always a bank of oat boxes - our own Äppler, the best schnitzel, fine liver. Insider tip: the Langer Schnitzel with sauerkraut filling and of course the apple fritters! Always friendly, always space. Top! New concept, exquisite wines selected by the sommelier and schnitzels that once again deserve their name!

Hello, we ate at Haferkasten today. I had the ART CAFE DE PARIS rump steak, which was excellent both in terms of flavor and preparation. My son also had spaetzle with cream sauce, and my wife had a Frankfurter schnitzel with green sauce. All in all, the food was excellent. We will definitely go there again. Definitely in the summer when you can sit outside by the fountain.

We ordered the catering for our wedding from Haferkasten – it was simply fantastic! Super delicious food that we were able to put together ourselves in advance. Delivery and setup were easy. We didn't have to do any washing up or transferring anything ourselves. It was basically a complete, worry-free package for a very fair price. The selection is truly extensive, from meat and fish to vegetarian dishes, hot and cold dishes, and appetizers—everything is included. Special requests can often be accommodated, and you can even have crockery and cutlery included. Highly recommended!

Thank you for the fantastic meal at your place this afternoon. I had the beef liver with mashed potatoes and the best onions I've ever eaten. The liver was so tender, hmmm😋😋 My wife had the Frankfurter schnitzel with grey sauce. She was also absolutely thrilled 🤩 We also had great admiration for the very friendly and attentive waitress. They served us inside and the other guests outside. Thank you so much for that 🥰🥰🐕‍🦺

The Haferkasten, located right next to the Vierröhrenbrunnen fountain, is truly a top-notch location if you're looking for something decent to eat in the old town or simply a cool drink by the fountain! The owners are two truly passionate people who live a clear understanding of tradition and innovation here in Langen every day. It's fantastic that such a traditional establishment in our town isn't going out of business, but instead enriches Langen's culinary scene with passion and dedication to Hessian cuisine, an ever-changing menu, and excellent wines.

A great restaurant with a large covered terrace. The best part is the new seating right on the market square around the fountain, with a wonderful ambiance. Excellent wines and hearty food.

We were guests here with 14 people in May 2025 at the traditional restaurant "Zum Haferkasten". ...we had reserved our table. We were all able to sit at a large table outside in the patio. The seating was very comfortable, like being at home on your own terrace. The staff was prompt. There were various conflicting reviews about the food in our large group.

Despite the large number of guests, the service was cheerful and very friendly. The food was delicious and the portions were generous.

I invited grandma to a birthday dinner in the oat box and it was a complete success. The food was extremely delicious. We particularly liked the salad and the soup. The schnitzels were also tender, soft and simply perfect. My grandmother was very happy that her special requests were also taken into account. All in all a top restaurant in Langen and I would recommend it to everyone.

We had our Christmas party at the Haferkasten yesterday and it was wonderful. From the table decorations to the last sip of wine, everything was magical and delicious. We got there via the program - Hessen a la Card. The atmosphere is quite nice. The employees too. I expected the food to be a little better after the show. It was nothing special, and I would say that we will no longer drive from Frankfurt to Langen just for a meal.

Yesterday at a small birthday party in the Haferkasten, winter garden. It turned out great, the food was great, the mulled wine was a poem. Always my pleasure.

Mega event location! The ITALY NIGHT was the second great event I took part in with my girls! The hall in the back of the restaurant, with its stylish cosiness, was ideal for this. The food was delicious, as was the wine (personally presented by Stefano Cresceri from Egelsbach). It was fun to get to know the wines and hear something about them. Everything was accompanied musically by Giuseppe Chitarra, who not only made us dance and laugh, but also brought a few tears. Overall, an unforgettable evening! You can feel the passion of the hosts, Julia and Mathias, who, together with their great team, want to give the guests a wonderful time. They have many innovative ideas and enrich Langen with a very diverse and valuable offering that goes far beyond the culinary. I'm looking forward to the next visit! Keep it up!

Unfortunately the service is not good at all. For example, people clear away but don't ask if you want something more to drink. If anyone ever comes out. So much more sales could be made. You could also work on friendliness. If you're already huffing and puffing and rolling your eyes (or if guests are sent away), I think you've missed your job. Very unfortunate. Atmosphere is nice and there is little to nothing wrong with the food. Important: this review only refers to the oat box and NOT to the vineyard/winter garden

We often go to the Haferkasten but today we enjoyed being served by top service. Then the rump steak oat box is really awesome, well seasoned, to the point and the awesome sauce on the side. We then had the salmon with herb mashed potatoes. The delicious wine, everything is harmonious, Julia and Matthias keep it up.

Old becomes “new”! The oat box is “on a new path” with a lot of love and a lot of commitment. I was at a birthday party (55 people), the hall was beautifully decorated, the buffet and the service were excellent and the wine selection was poetry :-). Overall a success!

I visit this restaurant often, even if it's just for tea or coffee. The atmosphere and location is simply great. I am more than satisfied with the food and the service is simply great. The service staff attach great importance to the customers and are very attentive. I can recommend everyone to stop by here to test it out.

We were there today for the first and unfortunately last time. We had both ordered schnitzel Viennese style and when we asked, after 1.5 hours, it turned out that they had forgotten to give our order to the kitchen. Anything can happen, but unfortunately the service didn't come to us for 1.5 hours and asked if we wanted something, but only when we asked. The waitress then said that she was sorry and that she would accommodate us with something on the house, because of the waiting time of around 1 3/4 hours for two schnitzels. When we were paying, strangely enough, a different waitress came and so the issue of being accommodating was already off the table. I honestly think it's weak to say something like that and then the topic goes away without comment when you pay... Schnitzel and salad were good, fries unfortunately a flop, just too greasy and just frozen. It's a shame, but that didn't work for us, so we won't be coming back and can't recommend it either.

So I can only say one thing: Hats off! I drove there especially from Frankfurt because it was warmly recommended to me. The food was fantastic, I chose the vegetable chips as a starter and the typical Frankfurter Schnitzel as the main course. My companions had the prawns and hand cheese as a starter and then the oat box steak and the truffle tagliatelle. We were all more than satisfied. Knowing that the owner is also the chef AND also manages the kitchen alone took it to another level. The service was excellent. Absolutely attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is super inviting, you feel/see that so much passion has been put into it and the feel-good factor is a 12 out of 10. The price-performance ratio is more than reasonable and there is something for everyone. I would have paid a lot more in Frankfurt. I haven't spent so much time in a restaurant after eating for a very long time:) Afterwards we treated ourselves to some wine in the winter garden 🙈 just lovely there. The Haferkasten also offers lots of great events that you won't find anywhere else, at least not in Frankfurt. Highly recommended and my first port of call in the future. I went to Oatkasten last Sunday for wine tasting and dinner - my first visit, but definitely not the last! The service was excellent, the wine selection was excellent and the sausage and cheese platter was an absolute delight. You can feel that the restaurant is run with a lot of love and passion, which is reflected in the atmosphere. We were particularly impressed by the winter garden - as soon as you walk past it invites you to come in and it does what it promises. All in all, a very successful evening in which we felt completely comfortable. We'd love to come back. Thanks to Julia, Mathias and the whole Haferkasten team ❤️

The food tastes really good here. What I like most is that the owners (who are quite young) try out a lot and also offer them on a long-term basis, such as various events, wine tasting, raclette day, varied wines, day drinking events, you name it. This is very good for Langen.

October 10, 2024 - April 30, 2024 - If this improves, I will change my assessment immediately. To rate this again I will eat there once!!! 4.3 stars??? Are they a9 FAKE for me??? I have known the restaurant for a long time and have to say that it has deteriorated extremely! The prices have also been increased extremely and the quality has deteriorated. Therefore I can only give one star!

I've known the Haferkasten in Langen for many years now and it's just had a great new upgrade in the last few months 😍 The ambience, food and service are simply amazing! Definitely recommended.

We went with 9 people to a great wine tasting with the boss. There were also delicious appetizers and then a la carte. The quality of the food and drinks was impeccable, very tasty and the atmosphere is very cozy. We had a wonderful evening and we will definitely repeat it!

Unfortunately we weren't thrilled at all. Fish fried to death, green sauce heavily diluted and service not friendly. It's a shame because the atmosphere is really nice.

Food tasted very good. We had reserved. We were assigned a small cat table. Other customers got a table twice as big without a reservation. A larger group of wine tasting took place at the next table. So it was naturally very loud. We were looking forward to a bottle of wine. We decided not to do that because of the atmosphere and the narrowness.

Waited 40 minutes then left without drinks. Today the food was good again.

The “vineyard” of the HAFERKASTENS: A nice place to drink a well-kept glass of wine at the four-tube fountain in Langen’s old town. You can also order food from the menu, which will either be brought to you or have to be picked up depending on the establishment. Maybe “table beeps” would be recommended at some point 😉 Our food was extremely tasty, tapas, Hessian duo, the fried mushrooms, only the salad itself was a bit “soft”. The staff was great, extremely friendly and helpful. It wasn't the last time we were there.

Actually one of my favorite restaurants in Langen. Rump steak oat box is a dream. Yesterday, however, I was a bit disappointed. Meat wasn't as tender as usual but that can happen. Unfortunately the sauce wasn't as usual, it tasted good but otherwise it was much better. There were very few side dishes. The horseradish sauce wasn't that good and the potatoes were cold. The salad dressing was lightly seasoned. I was shocked by the price. About 3 years ago the rum steak cost 18.90. Then it rose steadily, today it's 28.90. The prices of the wines are also almost Frankfurt prices. But taste good. The service was friendly, but not very familiar with the wines. Could be more attentive. There is still room for improvement. Unfortunately, the waitresses change frequently. There was once a good waiter who had been there for many years and that created trust. The boss is very nice and the ambience has improved greatly. The new menu is also appealing. I will definitely come back, but due to the increased prices it certainly won't be as frequent anymore. I hope that next time it tastes great again as usual.

... I think the oat box is picking up speed and I'm happy about the newly implemented ideas and the shared events. For Langen it is an enrichment to have a great time with the whole family and friends with good food and even better wine.

Food was good, service was friendly, otherwise all I can say is that the toilets are a disgrace. You were standing in the water and you should check before the restaurant opens whether everything is filled up. This is to be expected given the prices.

The food tasted really good. We ordered schnitzel and rump steaks. However, in our opinion the price-performance ratio is not right. The rump steak was quite small for just under €27! Therefore, unfortunately only 4 stars from us. We will avoid the oat box in the future, unfortunately the prices are too high.

The Haferkasten is run by two passionate people who never tire of trying out new things to surprise their guests and remain versatile. That's exactly what a restaurant has to offer these days.

There were four of us on a Spanish wine tasting evening. The service was very friendly, that was the best part. Unfortunately, however, it was completely disorganized and "haphazard". Sometimes red wine was poured into the white wine glass, then white wine was poured into the water glass again and you got service one after the other, then no service again for a long time... That could be better ;) The wine is of course a matter of taste, on ours and Nobody at the neighboring table was enthusiastic and nobody bought it. The food: Spanish tapas was so well, definitely nothing to recommend or come back to. The worst thing was the Creme Catalane with sugar sprinkled on it and not flambéed... for all of us. Conclusion: Super nice restaurant, service and kitchen are overwhelming, at least when busy or busy. This was our 6th attempt to become loyal to the oat box again, but it definitely lacks professionalism, concept and passion.

The food wasn't good, the portions were too small and the waiting time was long. We had booked the wine event. A big disappointment for a whopping 69.00. The portions were tiny and the noodles were raw (!). You couldn't eat that. The ambience was not nice (event room) and it was very cold. Neon light.

I visited you for the first time today, on the recommendation of my companion. It was a very beautiful evening. An unobtrusive, pleasant service, wines could be tasted in advance, and good cuisine with good portions, at not overpriced but rather moderate prices. Gladly again.

A great and beautifully decorated restaurant with a great atmosphere. Very friendly service and good food. We had the Frankfurter Schnitzel, the Langener Schnitzel (filled with sauerkraut and apples, served with apple cider sauce), Tafelspitz with green sauce and Lava Cake with ice cream. Long wait, but all in all it was worth it and we'll be happy to come back.

The food was very tasty, the portions were just right and lovingly prepared. At the end there was also a free children's punch for the little ones, what more could you want? Only bad! The service is inattentive and has an arrogant tone. The food was slightly oversalted, the side dishes were more, but the meat was little. A deceptive package. The whole manner of the waitresses was flippant and self-absorbed. They probably wanted to be modern. Instead, it was disrespectful. The ambience is garish, loveless. This was the worst restaurant I have visited so far. And unfortunately there are quite a few of them.

Fairerweise muss ich sagen das ich heute das erste mal hier war. Jedoch mussten wir 40 min warten im überhaupt die Essensbestellung aufgegeben zu können. Das gebrachte Glas war schmutzig und die drei bestellten Essen kamen in 10 Min Abstand. Das Personal wirkte überfordert und komplett konfus, sie bedienten ohne Absprache. Das Essen ja war in Ordnung allerdings fühlte ich mich danach gar nicht gut. Schade
