Zum Alten Wagenmann in Endingen am Kaiserstuhl

I've called several times to reserve a table for 8 people. No one answers the phone. Reservations aren't possible through the website either, as December isn't available yet. Oh well, we'll just go somewhere else.

Many restaurants are closed on Mondays. The ones open within a 10km radius were all fully booked. That's how we ended up here. And it was empty! We finally understood why. The food here used to be really good. Now they serve convenience food. Dried-out potato wedges labeled as fries on the menu. But delicious fried potatoes made with fresh potatoes would be the easiest thing you can get! Overall, the price just doesn't match the quality. The service isn't unfriendly, but some training would be more than necessary. They seem to lack the necessary self-reflection.

The ambiance is good, but unfortunately the selection of dishes is not, and the kitchen doesn't deliver anything special.

It's a new team, and we only had a few drinks. The atmosphere in the cool courtyard, despite the 36-degree temperature outside, was wonderful. The service was courteous and unobtrusive. As I said, we didn't eat anything, but I would definitely go back for more; the location and atmosphere are simply wonderful.

The food was great. In the heat, the courtyard was pleasantly cool. One waitress was absolutely unfriendly. She must have lost her smile or been upset. She was completely out of place as a waitress. The waitress (with purple hair) did everything she could to make our evening enjoyable. She even got a substantial tip. So, overall, it was okay.

We had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant "Zum Alten Wagemann" in Endingen am Kaiserstuhl today and were thoroughly impressed. The cozy courtyard, in particular, contributes significantly to the wonderful atmosphere and invites you to linger. The "Turkey Schnitzel Classico" was particularly noteworthy, which was perfectly prepared and accompanied by excellent, rustic fries. The "Turkey Schnitzel Primavera," served with superbly seasoned Mediterranean vegetables, was also an excellent choice and another highlight of our meal. Overall, we can wholeheartedly recommend the restaurant "Zum Alten Wagemann." Today's visit was a culinary experience in a beautiful setting that we would gladly repeat.

The outdoor area is super nice! I thought the food was delicious, but my friends thought it was mediocre. Considering the prices, the food is pretty simple. And we had to wait quite a long time for our food.

Highly recommended! A wonderful atmosphere in the vine-covered courtyard, surrounded by old barrels and wagon wheels. Very friendly and attentive staff, and the food is excellent! We loved the rustic fries as much as the homemade linguine. The rump steak and pork loin were also truly delicious. We'd love to come back!

Nach freundlicher Anfrage um einen Tisch an der Wand zu bekommen, wurde dies abgelehnt, mit der Begründung "zwei Personen dürfen nur an einen zweier Tisch sitzen. Wir fragten freundlich um einen Platz an der Wand. Dies wurde uns nicht gestattet. Das Lokal war völlig leer und als wir nach ca. 90 Minuten das Restaurant verließen wurde in dieser Zeit kein weiterer Tisch belegt. Dies nennt man Service am Kunden. Leider nicht empfehlenswert. Es aber auch kein Wert auf positive Rückmeldung gelegt.

After a polite request for a table by the wall, the request was declined, with the explanation "two people are only allowed at a table for two." We politely asked for a seat by the wall, but this was denied. The restaurant was completely empty, and when we left after about 90 minutes, no other table had been occupied during that time. This is called customer service. Unfortunately, not recommended. But they also didn't place any value on positive feedback.

We had lunch and a very crispy schnitzel with fries. The salad was a bit over-soaked with sauce, but the rest was excellent. A good tip for a quick lunch.

We were triggered by the nice ambiance. High expectations. But unfortunately... Had to wait an hour for food, 11 year old daughter had ordered soup, she received it after an hour together with the main course Ordered a steak for 34 euros with the explicit question whether there was any fat on it, you guessed it, all fat. Salmon, dry vegetables, cold. Plus point, the fries were good and the snips and chicken were also good.. Paid €142 and the food was worthless. We are used to better things in the Netherlands.

Ein tolles Erlebnis! Super Service, gutes Essen, tolles Ambiente. Wir waren auf einem Kurzurlaub in Endingen und an zwei von drei Abenden zum Essen dort. Mega lecker und gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Sehr kinderfreundlich. - Absolut empfehlenswert als Vorspeise der Heringssalat. Als Hauptspeise Steak oder Lachs, die hausgemachten Linguine sind auch super lecker! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

A great experience! Great service, good food, great ambience. We were on a short vacation in Endingen and had dinner there on two out of three evenings. Mega tasty and good price-performance ratio. Very child friendly. - Absolutely recommended as a starter is the herring salad. As a main course, steak or salmon, the homemade linguine is also super delicious! We'll definitely be back!

Cozy atmosphere. The Ändinger tapas were convincing when it came to the herring stew, but the buffalo mozzarella (with tomatoes and basil) was a bit small. The devil's schnitzel was convincing (changing your order to fried potatoes costs an additional €1.50). Friendly service.

We were there at coffee time. There was nothing wrong with the quality or the service. We'd love to come back.

Went to this restaurant yesterday for the first but definitely not the last time. Very nice ambience, very clean and the food was super tasty. It's nice that there are still restaurateurs who put a lot of effort into the well-being of their guests. Thank you for the lovely stay.

Very nicely decorated restaurant with attention to detail. We were there for the first time on Monday afternoon and were very surprised at how clean and tidy everything is. The staff is super friendly and the food was excellent at a very fair price. We will come back, it was great!

Not really recommended. The staff is very friendly, but very unprofessional. There were three of us there for lunch. The plates were not cleared at the end when everyone had finished eating, but one by one, regardless of whether you still had the last bite in your mouth... The vegetable lasagne was mediocre at best.

Leckeres Essen, gemütliche Atmosphäre, freundliche Bedienung - aber ruppige Chefin (?), die weder Fingerspitzengefühl noch Gastfreundschaft zu ihren Stärken zählen kann. Das Restaurant werden wir sicherlich kein zweites Mal betreten.

Sehr gemütliches und kkeines Restaurant. Das Essen ist ausgesprochen lecker und frisch. Die Wein-Auswahl ist sehr groß, sowie die Menüs. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich . Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Wir waren gleich zweimal hintereinander dort und wurden nicht enttäuscht.

The food was very tasty and plentiful, there was a cozy atmosphere, since all the tables were occupied, the noise level was high, but we still had a nice evening with good food. Staff friendly and present. Afterwards we visited the mulled wine stand in the courtyard, great decoration, decorated for Christmas, good quality punch and mulled wine, tasty... A nice ending Recommended and would love to come back

Delicious and lovingly prepared dishes. The pasta dishes, among others, are recommended. We felt very comfortable in the cozy but not overcrowded dining room. When the weather is good, the courtyard is a dream.

We ate twice at the "Alten Wagenmann" in Endingen during our vacation. Whether in the beautiful covered courtyard or in the rustic, cozy restaurant, it was simply great. The food, the service and the ambience were all great.

Very cozy, glass-roofed courtyard, regional and partly Mediterranean cuisine, finely seasoned dishes, also very good fish. The service was very friendly and attentive - for the toddler at our table, the food arrived along with the drinks just a few minutes after entering the restaurant. Thank you very much, we would love to come back!

We always enjoy going to the old Wagemann. Very good value for money. Beautiful cozy courtyard and cozy inside too. However, the menu has been completely unchanged for well over a year now. There is also no weekly menu or daily specials. Consequence: In the middle of the asparagus season, not a single asparagus dish. Overall standstill at a good level. But that won't be enough in the long run.

We were there and ordered a three-course meal. The service was super friendly and the food was excellent. Two days later we came back and wanted to eat there again. It was very crowded, which was immediately apparent, and the service staff gave us an unfriendly welcome. I immediately turned around and decided never to go there again. Edit* Based on the boss's answer, I'm assuming you have no service experience. The restaurant is lucky to have good cuisine. The rest is miserable. Certainly we will not come back again. In the next pandemic, I'll be happy if you go bankrupt.

Haben innert 3 Tagen 2x Abendessen genossen. Zwei mal sehr feine und frische Speisen erhalten. Sehr freundliche, angenehme und kompetente Bedienung von zwei verschiedenen Teams. Preis - Leistung stimmte für uns. Gerne wieder.

Price/performance was good, the ladies in service were very attentive, the covered courtyard (ideal for dog owners). Dessert menu is lavishly stocked! There were eight of us and we felt very comfortable!

A simple reorder could not be implemented. Leave out the fries and have a salad instead. Service should ask the boss about this. Answer 2 minutes later: It must be ordered as it is on the menu. An extra charge would have been ok. Guys, this is embarrassing, sad and not service oriented. Service didn't know what tartar was. This was watery in the glass. Was at the threshold of pain. Then paid at the counter. At the entrance there was a lady and a gentleman who were obviously writing a menu on laptops. I guess boss and boss. No HELLO, no GOODBYE, no THANK YOU for being there again. It was the same last visit. We only came back because the service was friendly. We are definitely taking our money elsewhere. Business lunches, company dinners etc. have been cancelled. We can be arrogant too.

Once upon a time in Emmendingen, in the old ballroom, there was first the "Rex3", then the location "Tado One". Closed from today to tomorrow. Unfortunately, I still had a voucher from my children. The same tenant runs the location "Wagenmann" and only allows half of the voucher to be taken into account. Both locations "Tado One" and "Wagenmann" are listed on the voucher, but only "Tado One" is checked. Anyone who sells vouchers should stand by the 'values' and not use flimsy arguments to charge the customer half of the voucher. Be careful when purchasing a voucher - it may become worthless the next time you change tenants!

Were there for the first time today. Atmosphere small and cute. Food was very good and service was very attentive. Definitely coming back. We really liked it.

I have never seen such a clean restaurant. The atmosphere is super nice. Very relaxed atmosphere. The food was very tasty. You can tell that the food was freshly prepared. I especially liked the chocolate souflet. This was definitely not my last visit.

Wir haben zum Sylvesterabend mit 3 Personen zum Essen gegen 18.30 Uhr reserviert . Da eine Bewertung immer in unerschiedlicher subjektiver Ansicht,auch perspektivisch gesehen wird, wie auch nun die Meine, versuche ich es mal mit den Bewertungssternen zu differenzieren. Fangen wir mit der Lokation an: Hier muss ich sagen, waren wir positiv überrascht.Eine nette, warme Atmosphäre in bewährt traditioneller Umgebung mit Liebe zum,auch zum Teil modern akzentischem Detail und gefühltem "historischer Zeitreise"Hintergrund. Um dem ganzen noch den restlichen gemütlichen, angenehmen Feinschliff zu geben, schlage ich vor, leider den hohen Decken geschuldet, die Beleuchtung nur an den Tischen zu belassen,ebenso verstärkt mit Kerzen, und somit nicht den ganzen Raum zu beleuchten. Was uns persönlich noch wichtiger erscheint, die Räumlichkeiten mit unauffälligen Akustikelementen zu versehen, wäre sehr sinnvoll und angebracht hier. Garnicht so teuer diese und es gibt die tollsten Möglichkeiten hierzu. Da ich selbst aus der Gastronomiebranche komme, rede ich aus Erfahrung. Diese Ergänzung ergibt eine durchaus angenehmere Kommunikationsatmosphäre. Ansonsten, wie soeben erlebt, halt eher eine Bahnhofsvorhallenakustik, was den Wohlfühlfaktor und das Beisammensein schon bei knapp 30 Personen durchaus stört. Sehen sie es als Hinweis und nicht als Kritikpunkt. Hier gibt es dann nur 4 von 5 Punkten. Kommen wir zum Service: 2 durchaus nette, junge, dynamische Damen die sehr bekümmert, mit ihrer angenehmen lockeren und lächelnden Art, zu uns waren.Von der Bestellung des Essens und der Getränke, bis zum servieren gibt's nichts zu beanstanden. Lediglich hätte eine der Damen zur Festlichkeit des Abends und der gehobenen gutbürgerlichen Lokation etwas stilvoller gekleidet sein können, einfach gesagt, an der Etikette etwas präzise feiner feilen können, dieses macht dem guten Gesamteindruck der Bedienung aber letztendlich keinen besonderen Abbruch. Trotzdem hier "nur"4,5 von 5. Nun zum Wesentlichen: Bestellt war die Seezunge mit Kartoffeln und Gemüse, Schnitzel klassisch mit fritierten Chips und die Lenden auf Schinken mit Linguini Nudeln. Ich hätte mir hier überall einen Beilagensalat dazu gewünscht, war etwas ungewöhnlich,kennen wir so nicht,aber egal. Geschmacklich hochwertige Zutaten.Die Lenden etwas zu durch, dadurch etwas trocken.Mir persönlich,als gestandener Mann, hätte ich, gegenüber meiner Frau , portionsmässig evtl.ein Lendenstück und ein paar Nudeln mehr gewünscht.Ansonsten alles in Allem war das Essen sehr gut und das Preisleistungsverhältnis überaus gerechtfertigt. Hier gibt's auch 4 von 5 Points. Ich vergebe somit 4 Punkte in der Gesamtzahl! Sonst wäre es ja zu Schmeichelhaft.. 😇 Lieber Wagenmann,nehmen Sie meine Kritikpunkte nicht als Angriff sondern als Ansporn auf.Denn wir kommen gerne wieder, da es uns gefallen hat, denn wir lassen uns gerne noch mehr überraschen.

Dieses Restaurant kann ich nur empfehlen hier stimmt das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis essen schmeckt, Ambiente ist toll beim Service hab ich nur drei Sterne gegeben weil ich die Bedingungen schlecht verstanden habe ansonsten geht vorbei und überzeugt euch selbst

Am Sonntag wollten wir zusammen mit unserem Therapiebegleithund essen gehen. Schon schnell wurde uns deutlich gesagt, dass Hunde nicht erlaubt sind. Gäste hätten sich beschwert. Sinnvoll wäre es dann die entsprechenden Verbotsschilder am Eingang zu hängen. Somit können Halter davon ausgehen, dass Hunde nicht erlaubt sind. So nebenbei erwähnt, könnte ich mich auch oft über kreischenden Kinder im Restaurant beschweren…

So eine tolle Entdeckung: Äußerst angenehme Gastgeber:innen in einem sehr stilvollen Wohlfühl-Ambiente. Das Essen ausgesprochen lecker mit kleinen positiven Überraschungen. Auch unsere Veganerin war nachher satt und happy. Der Service aufmerksam, aber nicht aufdringlich, mit gutem Blick für die Gäste. Der Innenhof ist im Sommer bestimmt eine Attraktion.

Eine wirklich tolle uhrig gemütliche Wirtschaft mit tollem Service und leckerem Essen! Wir werden wieder kommen!

Hunde verboten! Uns wurde ein 2er Tisch zugewiesen. Als die Bedinung bemerkte, dass wir unsere kleinen Hund in einer Tasche mit dabei hatten, teilte sie uns in einem wirklich sehr schlechten Deutsch mit, dass Hunde hier verboten sind. Das Restaurant war um 16.15 Uhr so gut wie leer. Unsere kleinen Hund hätte niemand in der Tasche bemerkt.

Waren mit dem Fahrrad unterwegs mit unserem kleinen Hundewelpen und wollten gegen 16:30 Uhr etwas essen und trinken. Nachdem die Bedienung mit bekommen hatte, daß wir ein kleines Hündchen dabei hatten wurden wir aus dem leeren Restaurant verwiesen, mit der Begründung, daß kleine Hunde hier nicht erwünscht sind. Durften aber im Nachbarrestaurant Hieronymus essen.

Sehr netter Service, sehr guter Wein, leckere Homemade-Limonade und schmackhaftes Essen- also rund um eine perfekte Einkehr. Der Innenhof ist sehr schön und somit bekommt man vom Straßenverkehr nichts mit.

Die besten Kartoffelscheiben, die ich seit Ewigkeiten gegessen habe. Auch sonst stimmt die Qualität zu 100% zu den durchweg angemessenen Preisen.

Waren heut zu dritt dort essen. Gemütliche Hinterhof-Atmosphäre auf alt und rustikal gemacht. Man isst praktisch im Freien und doch ist der Hof überdacht. Das Essen war große Klasse und sehr reichlich. Es wurde auch sehr schnell serviert. Der junge Mann der bediente war sehr nett und hat immer gefragt ob man zufrieden ist oder noch was möchte. Selbst mein Hund hat frisches Wasser bekommen. Sehr zu empfehlen!!! 😃

Optisch ein sehr schönes Weinrestaunt.Wir haben sehr gut gegessen.Die Bedienung war flott,vielleicht hätte ihr ein Lächeln gut getan. Gute Weinauswahl.Die Bestuhlung könnte etwas bequemer sein.Wir würden trotzdem immer wieder dort essen gehen.

Ein sehr gemütlicher Innenhof sorgt für eine tolle Atmosphäre. Die Speisekarte ist übersichtlich, das Essen sehr lecker. Freundlicher schneller Service. Reservierung ist empfehlenswert

There's nothing to complain about ! Good food , beautiful establishment , the lady that was there on the tables was quite simpatic and can speak Spanish, English and German. 10/10. Only one small detail, during hot days of summer, it wouldn't heart to have at least a fan moving the hot air.

Hinterer Bereich sehr dunkel, Speisekarte besteht aus ca. 15 Blättern eingespannt auf einem Holzbrett ....ersten 6 Seiten sind nur Getränke. Karte ist sehr schwer zu lesen. Auswahl vom Essen ist überschaubar.... Steak war eines der schlechten Varianten und hat überhaupt nicht überzeugt...ein Rosmarinzweig hilft da nicht. Mediterranes Gemüse nur klein geschnittenes Durcheinander. Ich bin aufgrund der Bewertungen in dieses Lokal und bin leider wieder "eingegangen ". Man muss sich einfach ganz offen seine eigene Meinung bilden. Normalerweise schreibe ich keine schlechte Kritik in deiner schwierigen Zeit, aber ich hab auch sehr viel Geld liegen gelassen und irgendwie hab ich auch ein Recht meine Meinung zu schreiben. Service sehr bemüht, aber wenn man ein Weinglas schon mit ganzer Hand bzw fünf Fingern am "Bauch" und nicht am Stil serviert, merke ich dass es hier an Schulung fehlt.... Es ist hier ja ein Weingebiet und das sollte eigentlich in Fleisch und Blut übergehen ein Weinglas richtig zu servieren. Für mich wird es keinen Besuch mehr geben.

Sehr schön eingerichtetes Restaurant, gemütlicher, überdachter Innenhof. Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Gute regionale Weinkarte und sehr leckeres Essen mit moderaten Preisen. Eigentlich möchte man dort sitzen bleiben.

Ein schönes Restaurant, angenehmes Ambiente, aber zu hochpreisig für die Qualität. Die „Schweinelendchen Saltimbocca“ hatten (wenn man mal vom Kalb absieht) in der Zubereitung wenig mit dem römischen Original gemein (Schinken wurde einfach „separat“ dargereicht, statt mit Salbei und dem Fleisch zusammen gebraten). Vegetarische Pasta war okay, allerdings wurde Parmesan mit 1,8 EUR extra berechnet. Service freundlich, aber zu eilfertig: Vorspeise wurde gebracht bevor der Aperitif getrunken; Hauptgericht bevor die Vorspeise gegessen war.

Endlich ist dieses schöne Restaurant wieder geöffnet ! Das Essen war gut, der Service freundlich, wenn auch nur mit Mühe der deutschen Sprache mächtig, und der Innenhof an diesem heissen Tag eine Wohltat. Eindeutig eine Bereicherung für die (ausser Merkle/Pfarrwirtschaft) ansonsten nicht besonders erwähnenswerte Endinger Gastronomie.
