Waiting for food at the window for a very long time, it's drafty and you get cold. Not again.

We spontaneously decided to go there for dinner. First, we were assigned a seat, then moved, and then seemingly forgotten. We waited over ten minutes for a menu or a waiter. We then got up and left. It seemed to me as if the staff were overwhelmed with a half-full restaurant.

I've rarely received a more rude turndown. The restaurant still had plenty of free tables, but "the kitchen called for a break."

Highly recommended, both in terms of ambiance and the quality of the food. Down-to-earth, good, and well-prepared cuisine, everything freshly prepared and delicious. Good value for money. Very friendly service staff.

I was lucky after all for dinner on my birthday, 💪The Heidschnucken lamb loin steak was delicious, extremely tender yet cooked through and a feast for the eyes too... very good visual aesthetics... I ordered fries instead of rosemary potatoes... normally a no-go but the taste was excellent.🤩😋The vegetables and the string mushrooms were also very well prepared.

We ate here for the first time. The first thing that struck me was the ambiance. When I think of "zum alten Krug," I imagine traditional, old-fashioned German cuisine with the appropriate decor. So, traditional, with lots of wood and rustic. That wasn't the case (unfortunately). Everything was very bright (white), lots of plastic, and not really harmonious. It seemed very "thrown together" and sterile to me. Therefore, a close 3***. The service, however, was very good. The older lady seemed rather brusque at first, but she was very kind and attentive. The other, younger waitress was also very attentive. Therefore, a full 5*****. The food was okay. It could be better, but it could also be worse. Considering the number of guests, it came quite quickly. BUT: Knip von der Heidschnucke (a kind of sheep) contains pork. Where exactly this came from couldn't be revealed. My conclusion: factory farming! I think labeling is important here, because it's not a purely regional meal from animals raised humanely, and it conveys a false impression. I don't like that at all! So we opted for the burger made from local grass-fed beef. It was very tasty. But there was faaaaaar too little ketchup (about half a shot glass full). We had to pay extra for more ketchup. Another big negative: side dishes cannot be swapped. You can't choose hash browns instead of fried potatoes (with pork bacon). That's sad. Unfortunately, there are no side dishes for small children either. We could only order a portion of potatoes. We then mixed these with (luckily) jarred food we brought with us... The welcome from the kitchen really saves it. This gives it 4****, otherwise it would have been 3***

Our experience at the restaurant: Based on the many positive Google reviews, we reserved a table by phone a week in advance. We received a friendly welcome and were free to choose whether we wanted to sit outside on the terrace or inside – we opted for a table inside. The ambiance appealed to us, and we immediately felt at home. The restaurant was relatively well-booked for a Saturday evening. An older lady took our order – both drinks and food. The menu, while small, offers regional dishes with fair value. We were a bit disappointed that they didn't offer cloth napkins at this price point. A young chef brought us a welcome from the kitchen – very friendly and attentive. The starter, an antipasti plate, was excellent: fresh ingredients and delicious! We ordered a bottle of wine with our meal, but unfortunately, it wasn't refilled during the course of the evening. The main course – Wiener Schnitzel – was practically "slammed down" on the table by a young lady with little charm and without even a single word like "Bon appétit." Unfortunately, this style of service continued throughout the entire evening. While we were occasionally asked from a distance whether everything was okay, overall we felt rather abandoned by the service – even though it wasn't busy. The bill arrived promptly, but again, there was no personal comment or feedback like "Did you enjoy your meal?" Our conclusion: The cuisine is truly excellent – a huge compliment and thank you! We will happily recommend the restaurant, but hope that the service can be improved a bit.

Leider mussten wir feststellen, dass die außen ausgehängte Speisekarte nach dem Betreten des Restaurants nichts mehr bedeutete, man offerierte uns eine andere Karte mit fehlenden Angeboten der Außenkarte, anderen Preisen und Gerichten. Das Restaurant mag ansonsten gute Küche haben aber wir hatten den Eindruck, das es sich leider nicht um ein Versehen, sondern um eine Anwerbungsmasche handelt. Restaurantgäste, die erstmal drin sind, gehen in der Regel nicht mehr... Wir haben es getan und die Bedienung war nicht überrascht.

The food was excellent, everything upscale and for a bit of a bigger budget, but it's worth it. Amazing burgers, perfect asparagus, and the hollandaise sauce to die for. The staff was so friendly, the restrooms clean. We were delighted with the ambiance and the food.

The restaurant is located in the heart of Schneverdingen in a beautiful half-timbered house. High-quality cuisine with regional highlights is offered in a very nice atmosphere. The service and the ambience are top. Highly recommended.

Das Essen ist allerbeste Hausmannskost, sehr lecker zubereitet und die Bedienung ist auch sehr freundlich. Die Preise allerdings sind oberste Liga. Also wie immer, wer gut speisen möchte, muß etwas tiefer in die Tasche greifen.

You shouldn't assume the advertising signs in Schneverdingen. The restaurant is very elegantly decorated. The food looks excellent and tastes just as great as how it was prepared. The service was very nice. Dessert was prepared at the table.

I only rate restaurants negatively if it was absolutely unacceptable. Some of the food was cold and some was burnt. The service was very unfriendly. We went to this restaurant for the first time as vacationers and will never go there again.

Zwar war die Karte aus Urlaubsgründen eingeschränkt, aber das Essen, das serviert wurde, war, incl. des Grußes aus der Küche, ganz hervorragend! Außerdem angenehmes Ambiente, freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung, Hunde willkommen - ein Rundum-Wohlfühlabend und uneingeschränkt empfehlenswert!

I chose the restaurant because of the good reviews on Google to celebrate my birthday with my husband while on vacation. Unfortunately, all of the dishes that we were looking forward to after reading the menu, both online and in the on-site showcase, were not available. In terms of taste, it was like that. Despite understanding the lack of staff, it is a no-go to inform guests who have reserved that there is only a small menu. We're annoyed that we didn't immediately look for another restaurant.

Meine Frau und ich waren zum Abendessen im Restaurant. Es gab vorweg einen Gruß aus der Küche, der uns gut geschmeckt hat. Meine Frau hat den Saibling gegessen, der sehr gut geschmeckt hat. Ich hatte das Wiener Schnitzel mit einem Erdapfelsalat und Steakhouse Fries.Das Schnitzel war gut, leider war die luftige Panade durch ein Spiegelei zugedeckt. Eine sehr unübliche Kombination, wie ich finde. Der Erdapfelsalat war sage ich mal geschmacksneutral, etwas Preiselbeere zu dem Schnitzel wäre für meinen Geschmack eine gute Idee gewesen.. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Preise sind nach meiner Meinung schon im gehobenen Bereich, insgesamt war es zufrieden stellend, aber auch nicht mehr.

Well above the standard, the quality of the food is really great! That definitely justifies the slightly higher prices. The only drawback: you cannot pay tips by credit card.

The nice ambience was immediately diminished by the rather long waiting time for orders, drinks and food. The greeting from the kitchen was good. The dishes served were nicely prepared and tasted good, except for the fried potatoes. These were burnt black and in small pieces. Original sound on our note: we are known for our very good fried potatoes!

Upscale price range. Despite there being fewer guests, the wait for food was definitely too long. Even if it was shortened with a "greetings from the kitchen", it still didn't add any value. The food itself was excellently prepared. It's pure chaos when paying. It can happen that the cash register is noticed, but it should at least be possible for the waitress to make a handwritten settlement.

Today I ate rack of lamb with ratatouille here. The back was cooked to perfection, which couldn't be said about the medallions my husband ate. It would also have been nice if the ratatouille had been warm. Pepper and salt are also spices that can definitely be used. Overall, more appearance than reality.

And really liked it. Great regional cuisine. We particularly recommend Knipp von der Heidschnucke. This only exists here in the north.

We ate here on March 29, 2024. I had the clear gin soup first, which came in 2 parts, and then the salmon. It was terrific. Even though the prices are a little higher, it is worth every penny. In addition to the very good food, there was also very good and attentive service. A pearl hidden in Schneverdingen and definitely worth a visit.

If you think you have to do without something in the country: here you will be proven wrong! The Möller family constantly reinvents itself here, surprising with promotions, creative dishes, well-kept furnishings and cleanliness. The warm service is particularly noticeable in these times. People are happy to accept limited opening hours. We were there both in small groups and in large groups (to eat goose) - always top notch. All thumbs up, keep it up!

Qualitativ hochwertiges Essen aus besten regionalen Produkten! In der Küche Menschen, die etwas von ihrem Handwerk verstehen. Im Service Leute, die die Kreationen mit Liebe und Spaß den Gästen präsentieren, außerdem schnell und aufmerksam sind. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist für diese Qualität absolut angemessen und natürlich etwas höher, aber ehrlich: Dafür bekommt man auch Speisen, die großartig im Geschmack und Positionen zum satt werden sind und das ist in dieser Kombination eher selten. Wir waren begeistert. MEHR GEHT NICHT! Auch als wir schnell los mussten, bevor der Elbtunnel geschlossen wird und wir vor lauter Genussdie Zeit verpeilt hatten, kam die Rechnung wie erwünscht sofort. Parkplätze sind direkt vor dem Lokal vorhanden. Wenn Dir meine Bewertung gefällt oder geholfen hat, würde ich mich über einen Like freuen.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend in diesem schönen Restaurant. Dankeschön an das freundliche Ehepaar und Eigentümer des Hauses. Sooo gemütlich gesessen und geschmaust. Freundliches Gespräch mit den Betreibern des hübschen Gasthauses gehabt. Leckeres Essen im traumhaften Ambiente genossen. Auch bei Regen zu empfehlen, da es einen hübschen, regenfesten Garten gibt. Ich gehe viel und oft essen und war selten in den letzten Jahren so positiv überrascht wie beim Besuch in Zum alten Krug. Angefangen von der unkomplizierten Reservierung, der Mitnahme unseres kleinen Hundes, dem Gruß aus der Küche, bei dem es leckere Aufstriche mit selbst gebackenen Brot gab, bis hin zur Auswahl der Getränke ist hier Klasse statt Masse das Maß aller Dinge. Die Weine sind hervorragend und preislich sehr angemessen. Die Biere bieten für jeden eine wertige Auswahl. Die Antipasti waren ebenfalls sehr lecker. Die Speisekarte ist ausgesucht und man merkt, das hier wirklich gekocht wird. Alles kommt aus der näheren Umgebung . Allein wie die Speisen angerichtet werden zeigt mir, daß der Koch und das Küchenteam sein Handwerk versteht. Der Service der von zwei Damen verrichtet wird, ist aufmerksam und zuvorkommend ohne aufdringlich zu sein. So soll es sein. Unnötig zu erwähnen, das alles hervorragend geschmeckt hat. Da auch der Preis voll im Rahmen bleibt, ist das Restaurant Zum alten Krug mehr als nur eine klare Empfehlung. Weiter so

Otimme vaimon kanssa kirjolohta. Pöytään tuli kokonaiset annoskalat joita oli mukava syödä. Jopa nahka oli rapeaksi paistettu. Miljöö oli miellyttävä ja henkilökunta palveli hyvin mielellään.

Steak wurde leider im Ofen gemacht, dadurch keine Röstaromen. Schade, das sollte der Koch noch einmal überdenken. Bisher war das Essen immer gut.

If you want good traditional german food.

Meine Männer haben Currywurst Pommes gegessen ... bei dem Preis waren die Erwartungen doch sehr hoch. Tatsächlich kam nur eine Currywurst und Pommes dazu ... kein Salat, keine Deko. Wir probieren gerne neue Lokale aus, sind auch gewillt mehr zu zahlen ... aber dieses Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt nicht im geringsten für uns.

Gestern und heute haben wir hier zu Abend gegessen ("Wiederholungstäter", weil es wirklich gut war). Im Außenbereich auf der Terasse sitzend konnten wir sehr lecker zubereitetes Essen und guten Wein genießen. Klar ist es hier nicht billig, aber was mit Aufwand und guten Zutaten zubereitet wird, kann ja nicht billig sein. Auch deshalb gönne ich mir nur ab und an ein gutes Essen im Zusammenhang mit gutem Wein und habe oft eine hohe Erwartungshaltung und halte mich für ziemlich kritisch. Aber das war hier war wirklich delikat. Gestern habe ich Lammrücken gegessen und Pfälzer Rotwein getrunken. Heute war es der Naturparkteller mit Knipp + Bratwurst und Spanischer Rotwein (Mallorca). Diese Gaststätte kann ich ganz klar empfehlen, denn auch der Service hat gut gepasst - freundlich, nett und aufmerksam - das ist ja auch wichtig.

Wir waren zu Besuch einer Hochzeit eingeladen und ich habe selten so ein rundum Paket gesehen. Das Essen war ein Gedicht und vor allem die selbst gemachten Pommes und Kroketten sind eine Leckerei. Es hat alles gestimmt. Wir kommen wieder.

Das war mal ein wirklich tolles Restaurant. Sehr schöne Lokation mit wunderbarem Essen, gebracht von einer sehr freundlichen Bedienung. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Das Essen kam, das große Staunen, sehr schön angerichtet, das Steak wie im Blockhaus (Hamburg) spitze, die Pommes wie in Brügge, lecker. Das gemischte hervorragend. Der Nachtisch, zum genießen. Das Personal plus Chef, Chefin, Küche, zum knuddeln. Es war ein hervorragender Genuß alles in allem. WIR KOMMEN WIEDER. Es war ein super Abend. Dankeschön

Leckeres Essen! Tolles Ambiente und gutes Personal. Die Karte ist sehr übersichtlich und bietet ungefähr 5-8 Gerichte. Dafür aber alles selbst gemacht.

Wir waren hier an einem Freitagabend. Leider wurden uns per Karte speisen angeboten die bei der Bestellung ausverkauft waren. dann haben wir uns umentschieden und mussten ziemlich lange auf das Essen warten. der Koch entschuldigte sich für die Wartezeit, was eine kleine Entschädigung war. Außerdem haben wir nicht verstanden, warum Steak aus Uruguay angeboten wird, wenn die Heide so viel regionale Sachen zu bieten hat.

Wir konnten am Sonntagabend noch einen Tisch ergattern und waren positiv überrascht von der hervorragenden Qualität und dem guten Geschmack. Gerne wieder!

Wir sind zufällig zum Essen in den Alten Krug gekommen und haben uns von vorne bis hinten wohl gefühlt. So wohl, das wir am nächsten Tag gleich wieder zum Abendessen gekommen sind. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und herzlich. Das Essen ist toll und abwechslungsreich, eine schöne Mischung zwischen klassischer deutscher Küche und einigen modernen Elementen. Sowohl drinnen als auch draußen lässt es sich wunderbar sitzen, alles ist sauber und mit Liebe dekoriert. Es ist eine tolle Sache, wenn der Koch zum Tisch kommt und persönlich die sorgfältig ausgesuchten, leckeren Appetizer erklärt. Vielen Dank und herzliche Grüße aus Berlin!

Sehr, sehr gutes Essen nach einer Fahrradtour von ca. 80 km - Preis / Leistung ist top sehr freundlich Bedienung- waren schon 16:30 Uhr da obwohl erst ab 18 Uhr Essen haben wir ab 17:30 Uhr schon was bekommen- sehr zu empfehlen, immer wieder gern - kompetente, aufmerksame Bedienung Sehr gutes und frisch zubereitetes Essen!

schlecht gewürzt war die Suppe, aber auch die Gans, schlimm war das der Vogel viel zu lang in der Röhre war( oder erst gekocht) das Fleisch nur faserich und so trocken das es sich kaum schneiden ließ. Der Nachtisch war noch am besten. Das Pils saumäßig gezapft, fast wie in England ohne Schaumkrone, also ich werde sicherlih nicht einen weiteren Besuch dort machen.
