Cozy...super friendly...great buffet with homemade bread Highly recommended

We were at Ziegenpeter on September 27th, just before the temporary closure. Unfortunately, there were a few points of criticism: We had salad with goat cheese... the portion was great, and the price was completely reasonable. Only the brown lettuce leaves didn't seem very appealing, so maybe we should pay attention to that. The interior has always been quite small, and we were unlucky that a private party had taken over the interior. However, since we really wanted something to eat, we settled for an outside seat since the weather was still nice. But still... the high tables with the concrete blocks and thick seat cushions were completely unsuitable for eating; the height ratio at the front and back was wrong. The other seating options weren't particularly comfortable either and didn't invite you to linger for long. The restrooms could have been better. Since they're at the back of the building and freely accessible to everyone, perhaps they should be checked more often. The toilet seat was completely loose and slipping back and forth, and it wasn't really clean either. As I was about to leave, someone banged violently on the door. When I finally stepped out, it was one of the employees, who was probably cleaning and wanted to determine if anyone was in the restroom by "knocking." Hearing the banging on the door, I wondered if he was planning to break it down. I think the restrooms will improve after the renovations for the State Garden Show. The beautiful view of the Rhine is only partially beautiful, depending on where you sit... if you sit with your back to the Rhine and "have" to look at the building into a messy office, it's not so great. Since there were several of us, a few of us had the "great" view of the building...

Very confident prices, no more chairs - it's almost cheap in Düsseldorf, what a pity.

We love the Ziegenpeter! It has a lovely maritime feel and a cozy atmosphere. We've been there several times for breakfast and also for lunch (the tarte flambée is delicious!).

I've been coming back for years and enjoy it. I highly recommend Ziegenpeter and its concept. The staff is extremely dedicated and friendly. 👍The food leaves nothing to be desired and is always freshly prepared. Also worth noting is the beautiful location with a wonderful view of the Rhine.

I think it's a special place, something truly different, and a really nice little restaurant right on the Rhine (you can't get any closer). You can watch the boats while you eat. I've been coming here often for about seven years, but unfortunately, things have taken a turn for the worse. The seating is getting old; there used to be deck chairs, but they're gone this year. It still felt like a vacation miss, but now it's just uncomfortable sitting on the tree trunks or concrete blocks, which aren't even the right height for the table. The cushions are dirty, so I'd rather not touch them. The sand is so dirty, you get black feet if you take your shoes off for even a moment. Shade is provided by only three trees and an awning, which isn't enough for the size of the outdoor dining area. The coffee doesn't taste good, and while oat milk is offered, it can only be poured cold. I often eat the pasta with goat cheese here, but it's somehow been tasting bland for a while. The only good things right now are the view of the Rhine and the friendly staff, who are always quick to crack a joke. And I really like the concept. I sincerely hope that this place will develop positively again after the renovation of the Rheinpark. Currently, it's mostly without me.

August 19, 2025: Tried it again (I often only go there for a drink... not so much food). Waited quite a long time for the food, which I paid for when ordering. Our two dishes arrived upon request. For me, "Large chicken salad for €11.90": Fresh salad with pesto chicken, tomato, cucumber, and homemade bread. Topped with balsamic dressing. It was inedible, totally vinegary. I wonder what the small salad would have looked like. Just large leaves of lettuce, radicchio, or iceberg lettuce, the chicken was tough, dry, and cold, and two whole, uncut cherry tomatoes. I put the whole thing back on the counter and watched my friend at the table for 20 minutes while she ate her tarte flambée (it was good). We sat at the table for another 30 minutes. The staff didn't ask any questions. So, it probably wasn't that important. One more chance, always a bad experience. Yesterday, another unpleasant experience. The kitchen was open until 7:30 p.m., according to the notice. At 7:10 p.m., we were told, "There's nothing left, as we close at 8 p.m." We weren't supposed to sit on the lounge chairs, as they were being cleared away (someone shouted this very harshly at me from 15 meters away). Both were a bit odd, but not a big deal, but the tone was very unfriendly. At the exit, two other guests who had also fled the place and found the whole thing very unpleasant approached us. I think we'll go somewhere else soon. My old review: Great concept... the customers are mostly super relaxed and friendly. It's nice to wait a while here. The smiles of the friendly team members are always worth it. Sitting in the sand after dinner and watching the ships... it's simply beautiful.

We know Peter the Goat from the novel Heidi: a boy who herds goats and has no desire for lectures and school. We felt like Peter the Goat during a visit to the restaurant of the same name when, in temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius and—nota bene!—after consuming all sorts of beverages, we allowed ourselves a sip of water from the water bottle we had brought with us. Immediately, the shift manager appeared at our table to inform us, in a lecture that was as didactically authoritarian as it was tediously long-winded, that this was not permitted. Yes, okay, it's not allowed, we already knew that. But sorry, it was hot, and we had already generated a lot of business. How petty, narrow-minded, and narrow-minded do you have to be in management to deliver a lecture in the tone of a 1960s schoolteacher to paying guests who just want to enjoy a relaxing summer day. This goat-eat-dog should call himself Mumps, because this place has absolutely nothing in common with the nice boy from Heidi. NEVER AGAIN!

Just a roll and a coffee in the morning isn't acceptable. Only a full breakfast, but coffee is extra. It's actually too expensive. There are no rolls, by the way. Food. Only what's on the menu; no substitutions are allowed. A shame.

A commendable concept in itself. The location of the venue is certainly top-notch, especially in nice, sunny weather. The food was okay. Everything on the menu sounds very good... The taste isn't necessarily a reason for a second visit. Perhaps a simple menu with classic and simple home-style dishes would be better and easier, and especially easier and less stressful for the management staff to implement, passing on and instructing people in the inclusion sector on site. The dessert was delicious. The cake selection from the baking tray was rather mediocre in taste. I think the price of €3.80 per piece – without whipped cream – isn't exactly appropriate. The first impression upon entering the premises, as well as the restrooms, certainly needs improvement. The changing table in the accessible restroom didn't exactly look like it had been installed by a professional or checked for safety. We had to hold the table up while changing our baby's diaper because otherwise our baby would have slipped off. If someone in a wheelchair wanted to use the restroom there, the room would have to be cleared first. Unfortunately, it was very cramped and cluttered. I don't think we'd eat there again, despite the basic and worthwhile idea. A snack bar on the Rhine promenade with delicacies from Duisburg cuisine, with shorter opening hours until 8 p.m. at the most, might be more optimal and sufficient.

We were with 36 people 🍀 for a birthday breakfast followed by cake and tiramisu at Ziegenpeter 🐐 It was a wonderful day with delicious food, sunshine, and a great atmosphere on the Rhine. Very good and friendly service...good value for money. Thanks to the entire team for the great company!!!!!

This was my fourth time at Ziegenpeter and I always find it lovely...🌞👍 I found the prices for the Ziegenpeter salad, for example, to be a bit steep at €12.50... but I'll be back soon for another hour or two to enjoy the lovely location 🤗

We always loved going to Ziegenpeter – for years. We even celebrated our wedding here years ago. And we were always thrilled. Thrilled because the people were friendly, we felt so comfortable, and all ages were welcome. And now? There are no more deck chairs, no more sand toys for the kids. The recipe for the cherry cake has been changed, and when we wanted to celebrate our last birthday there, it was much more complicated and felt like more of a hassle for the staff to organize it, so we ultimately canceled. In our opinion, the trend of workshop stores continues here. With the Little Prince and Ars Vivendi, wonderful and welcoming stores were closed to open an impersonal and cold concept store. Unfortunately, Ziegenpeter is moving in the same direction.

When we were there, there was no table service; I'm not sure if they even offer it. The cake was mediocre and the service was nice, but you have to order inside and then find a seat. There are only a few umbrellas outside. The value for money is certainly debatable. Someone will like it.

A perfect morning with a good breakfast. Friendly staff. Good value for money. The view of the Rhine is free.

Honestly, it's just a shadow of its former self. The location is beautiful, but the drinks are unreasonably expensive. A watery Aperol, which feels like a 0.1 liter of ice, for €8.50 is more like something you'd expect from a bad ski hut. Even €3.80 for a 0.33 liter bottle of beer (all self-service) is decent. The outdoor area is too shabby and neglected for that, rather shabby, and the cushions could use a wash. Not everything was better in the past, but this was.

Beautifully situated on the Rhine, with a sandy beach and loungers for relaxing. Small snacks, cakes, ice cream, and drinks are reasonably priced. Parking is limited.

5 stars – clear recommendation! I had dinner at Ziegenpeter today and was totally thrilled. The starter was super tasty, especially the freshly baked bread in combination with the homemade dips – really tasty! For the main course I had the goat pita, which was very fresh and tasty. Value for money is great. Definitely coming back!

The map is small but good. The location directly on the Rhine is indescribably beautiful. I celebrated my company anniversary there on April 1, 2025. Perfect service (thanks Peggy!) and very thoughtful in everything. We'd love to come back!

Unfortunately, the potatoes weren't very tasty; they were overcooked. The chicken salad was OK, but the meat wasn't my taste. Service was very friendly and accommodated every request. The cake was freshly baked.

Very friendly staff and excellent food. The coffee is some of the best you can get in the city. Unfortunately, when the weather is nice, it's almost impossible to get one of the few seats on the sandy beach. Only a few ugly concrete blocks with uncomfortable cushions are usually free. But that's also where customers park their shabby e-bikes. If I want to have my cake and eat it with bikes, I go to Little John Bikes.

Great food and great, friendly service. The inclusion works unparalleled. The only problem is that the room is a bit noisy and has a lot of noise. Therefore it is a bit difficult to understand each other and the waiters inside.

The Ziegenpeter is a café located directly on the Rhine that is known, among other things, for employing people with disabilities. I think that in itself is important and right. I've been there several times, like yesterday. It was packed and I felt incredibly sorry for the staff because there doesn't seem to be a structured plan drawn up internally to protect the staff from this volume so that the café isn't bursting at the seams. I would like the AG to work out a structure with the people who work there in which the staff is protected and the people who spend their money there are also satisfied. I would like to see more overview of the process there, which is designed to be barrier-free and clearly visible to everyone. If all tables are occupied, this should be made easy for staff and visitors to come. The overview is completely lost there, everything is a mess. It's really a matter of extreme luck whether you have a nice experience there or not and I think that's a shame. I would like to emphasize here that in the situations described, I do not attribute responsibility to the staff but rather to the client. Personally, I am deterred from going there again because of these facts, as I unfortunately did not have a pleasant experience there several times for the reasons mentioned above.

The staff was nice, but the cake, cookies and muffins were unfortunately quite dry. Too bad! In my opinion, furniture etc. in the interior are not that inviting either.

Discovered this great, inclusive gastronomy in sunny winter weather. The service was warm and attentive, we could only feel comfortable and enjoy the delicious food. Later I had to take a jar of the goat mayonnaise home with me. Now we “have to” go back soon because of the glass deposit. Hip hip hooray!

The two of us got a table straight away without a reservation. Our order was two delicious tarte flambées. The drinks were served cold. The service was courteous but not intrusive. The ambience is calm and cozy.

The place was totally cold, one of our group had already put on a jacket, the selection on the menu was puny and the quality was already at student level and the service was so crazy that our entire order went to the kitchen twice everything was thrown away. I ordered a breakfast buffet for 20 people on a Saturday. Everything exceeded my expectations. The selection of food and drinks were perfect, the service was attentive and almost loving, the wood-burning oven was on, the view right on the Rhine and the ambience were simply great. And we had the whole restaurant to ourselves.

The Ziegenpeter in the Rheinpark is now a Duisburg institution. coffee and cake; Tarte flambée and salad plus other dishes invite you to visit. All of this is available with a view of the Rhine, or on the terrace when the weather is nice. The skate park and various play options in the surrounding area make a visit with children an experience. The drinks and opening times alone are attractive, and the menu tops it all off. The staff is friendly and competent. The restaurant is clean; very attractive and modern furnished. Always my pleasure. Keep it up! Top address for a trip with the whole family or alone!

We are often in Ziegenpeter Rheinpark. Mostly for breakfast. But occasionally in the afternoon too. Same last week. “My” obligatory currywurst wasn’t good this time. Lukewarm (as is the sauce). No browning at all. Plus two very small slices of bread (which, as always, were delicious). Nevertheless: I don't think €5.80 is appropriate under these circumstances. The tarte flambée with salmon used to come as a “proper” piece served on a wooden board. This time on oval porcelain in a much smaller version with little (almost no) sour cream and salmon. For - to put it bluntly - an overpriced €9.50. As much as we appreciate this unique location and the inclusive concept, we were very disappointed this time.

We celebrated our wedding here and were very happy with the location. The food, the decoration and especially the staff were great. The price-performance ratio is completely fine. Every guest was satisfied. We had a wonderful day ☀️

We ordered Bööscherhof ice cream with Amarena cherries and cookies. Both tasted good. We also drank passion fruit spritzer from Van Nahmen. This was also delicious. You can sit inside and outside.

The Ziegenpeter in the Rheinpark Duisburg Hochfeld, beautiful view of the Rhine with the opportunity to have a snack, drink or cake. Certainly the right place for a breather during the bike tour. The Rhine Park, which houses the goat peter in its area, is certainly worth experiencing. Tiger&Turtle is nearby, also highly recommended.

We were here for breakfast on August 3rd, 2024. It was unfortunate that it started to rain just as we had chosen a spot outside. Despite the hectic pace, the service remained friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, that's no use if the kitchen doesn't deliver. And in our case it didn't. The “to eat” was dry oat flakes with a bit of fruit. The service then brought oat milk, but if I have to make it myself, I can stay at home. The cheese breakfast was just a bit cheese... quite bland. I know this better in other, comparable institutions. Air upward!

A nice place on the Rhine to stretch your feet and visit the nearby viewing platform. Sitting outside with a view of the Rhine is nice. Relaxed atmosphere. You have to order food and drink at the stand and it will then be brought to your seat. Food was so-so, definitely needs improvement. For me, a large salad was more of a small salad and way too expensive and the baked potato wasn't that eye-catching either. So to chill out a bit and have a drink, it's nice there, but if I really wanted to eat out, I personally wouldn't go there anymore.

Only three stars...unfortunately it didn't pick us up.The service was attentive and really very friendly..The restaurant is ideal to reach by bike, we have to walk 1 km from the parking lot to the restaurant. The toilet facilities were the least appealing to us... very unclean.

Very nice location right on the water. Super nice view of the Rhine. You can totally relax here. A nice viewing point right next to the restaurant. We ate tarte flambée and a baked potato with chicken and took cake to take home - everything was very tasty. Staff is very nice and extremely friendly/helpful. We'll definitely come back.
