A pub atmosphere like I remember from my student days. I first came here about 20 years ago when I moved to Mannheim. Even back then, it was a popular meeting place, and the price-performance ratio is still very fair today. You can sit inside or outside and meet up with friends. Highly recommended, I'd love to come back 😀

A very nice restaurant in downtown Mannheim. The outdoor area is especially inviting in the summer. The food is homely, with salads, vegetarian dishes, pizza, and tarte flambée available. The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are definitely reasonable. The interior is a bit dated, but retains a certain charm.

Whenever I'm in Mannheim, I always like to stop by the headquarters for lunch or dinner! After more than 40 years, I'm still doing great! No matter whether inside or outside, the staff is always friendly and quick! The food is good, home-style, with great portions at fair prices! Thank you for always cooking so deliciously for me (us) for the next 40 years 🍻😉

We've been coming for dinner every Friday for years. The food wasn't delivered today. Kitchen says it's outside but never arrived. Instead of the service working here in a customer-oriented manner and looking for solutions, we still don't have any food after an hour. Never again

A good quiet and pleasant atmosphere, you don't have to wait long to be served and the food is served quickly. The portions are large and taste great. There is a wide selection of food and drinks. I can only recommend it. Really great.

The food is really delicious and really not expensive for the amount you get. The service was very friendly! The interior is very cozy, but also a bit uncomfortable as it is quite narrow.

We had a coffee at headquarters this morning, but unfortunately our experience was anything but positive. At first we were completely ignored by the waitress. She sat comfortably with her own coffee and chatted while we waited in vain for attention. It wasn't until we asked if it was open that we were even noticed. Instead of asking us what we wanted, we were told without further explanation that there was no breakfast - which we didn't want. The entire interaction with us seemed unprofessional and not very friendly, which greatly affected our experience. A few years ago we would have liked to recommend the headquarters, but after this incident we can definitely no longer do that. It's a shame that the service has deteriorated so much.

Die Location macht einen guten Eindruck. Es war nicht unser erster Besuch. Die Speisekarte ist ausgewogen und die gereichten Speisen schmecken gut und sind mehr als ausreichend bemessen. Allerdings war die Bedienung heute absolut mangelhaft. Bereits bei der Platzauswahl wurden wir zurechtgewiesen, obwohl uns am Tresen von einer andere Bedienung eine freie Platzwahl zusagt wurde. Also mussten wir ab in die dunkle Ecke! Bitte und danke war von der Bedienung nicht zu hören. Bei der Biernachbestellung mussten wir die leeren Gläser selber beiseite stellen. Nach dem Bezahlen machte die Bedienung keine Anstalten das Kartengerät zu nehmen und sich vom Tisch zu entfernen. Sie blieb fordernd stehen, bis ich ihr widerwillig ein Trinkgeld gab. Dienstleistung ist deutlich anders, auch wenn man aus einem anderen Kulturkreis kommen mag. Wir werden definitiv dieses Restaurant nicht mehr nutzen.

Just a random stop in September 2023 for lunch because they had outdoor seating, and the menu looked good. We enjoyed our food, so we went back in December 2024. This time we sat inside on a rainy chilly day. Our table was in a back corner right outside the kitchen. The restaurant was very busy, and is a lot bigger than it looks from outside. The food was, again, very good. The service was great as well, even as busy as it was. The prices were pretty average for Mannheim.

Prices have been increased but my last 3 visits saw at least one rodent in the restaurant. With the money you can hire an exterminator

The interior has a quaint, rustic ambiance, dark brown wood, a bit cramped between the bench back and the edge of the table, but OK. Sitting outside is definitely much nicer, but it was still too chilly... Service was good, although we were addressed informally from the start, which comes across as a bit too familiar if you're not a regular customer and no longer of student age. A varied menu, including a lunch menu, and reasonable prices – especially considering the fairly large portions. However, I would have preferred a bit less salad for the cream cheese turnovers (the green one was a bit "sloppy" on the leaves) and one or two more cream cheese turnovers. The pizza (vegetarian) was generously topped, which made up for the slightly overly thick crust. Everything tasted delicious! Perfect for those who are really hungry after a shopping trip :-)

We had 7 meals here. The food was good for a pub/restaurant. The portions were very large. It's just tavern cuisine. The atmosphere is a bit old-fashioned and rustic. However, our service was awesome. It's rare to experience such fun and joy at work. A very big compliment here

If I could give negative stars I would give -5. I waited 45 minutes for my food while all of my other people had already had their food. It was then completely overcooked. The supplements were swapped. The salad was drenched in balsamic dressing. The service was very unfriendly. And it was very cold in the restaurant.

I've eaten better tarte flambée, unfortunately this one was very salty. The salad was very soggy and the dressing just wasn't to my taste. The ambience is very old and the noise level is very loud. The service was very friendly.

The Zentrale restaurant is always a great experience for me when I go shopping from Landau to Mannheim. I've been coming here for decades and have never regretted it. The daily menu always includes attractive and inexpensive dishes. The fact that it tastes really good just makes my day better! Compliments to the kitchen! Classic home-style dishes are particularly well prepared! And you obviously don't jump on the bandwagon that drives up the price spiral! Respect! Other businesses also benefit from you! Because when you feel good, shopping is really fun!!!

It's unbelievable to serve raw Cordon Bleus and then charge full price. After complaining, the plates along with the fries and salad were taken away to show the raw schnitzel to the cook. He said the schnitzels weren't raw and we had to pay the full price. We didn't get the plates with the other half of the food back, the waitress told us very rudely that we didn't want that and that she had now left it at the bar and we neither got the food back nor a replacement.

Meine sonstige überaus lobende Kritik zum Gasthaus Zentrale und seinem überaus freundlichen Servicepersonal kennt, indem ich seit mehreren Jahrzehnten Stammgast bin und für ungezählte weitere Stammgäste gesagt habe, kann sich denken, wie viel es an Inkompetenz und zusätzlicher Unverschämtheit benötigt, um mich derart zu empören! Zum zweiten Mal hatte ich nun das Pech, bei einem "Kevin" zu landen, der mir auch prompt zum ZWEITEN MAL nicht das zum Abholen bestellte Essen vorsetzte. Statt diesen Fehler korrekt zu beheben, wurde er auch dieses Mal wieder zusätzlich patzig. Ich habe auch dieses Mal das Essen bezahlt und unberührt stehen lassen. Werde mir und meinen Freunden in Zukunft eine Alternative suchen müssen, wenn ich Sonntagabend einfach das Bestellte essen- und mich nicht auch noch obendrein von einem unqualifizierten und dazu unverschämten Kevin für sein eigenes Unvermögen rotzfrech anmachen lassen möchte! Echt schade! Denn das Essen, wenn es das richtige ist, ist gut und alle anderen Mitarbeiter*innen sind ausgesprochen nett und engagiert!

We had just landed in Mannheim with the children and were given a great welcome. Service worker Alex was extremely friendly and customer-oriented. In summer you can sit outside here nicely. Food is good and prices are moderate.

The evening started with the waitress not knowing what a Helles was. The food was okay for the price. When we finally ordered a wreath, it was moldy on the inside. After pointing this out to the waitress we were lied to and told it was wet paper. Not a hint of an apology. And when you ask if you can pay by card, you only get a mushy response: “What have I actually done to you?” Addendum: After more than a year I was back at headquarters. This time the service was very friendly and special requests regarding the composition of the meal were also possible without any problems. But the food is still just okay. This time the wreath wasn't moldy on the inside!

It was the first time that the waiter insisted on tipping while I didn't really feel that it was earned in any way. The schnitzel had a strange taste, I don't know if they use used oil or the ingriedients were off, but definitely I'm not going to come there second time.

The food was decent, but I‘m sure I could have cooked something much tastier at home and the price wasn’t low either. Waitress was quite rude and basically forced us to leave tips by asking „How much would you like to tip?“. Not coming back.

Received raw cordon bleu in the middle, when I got to the middle I noticed it and wanted to have it sent back. The waitress came back without the food and said we had to pay, but didn't even bring the food we had started more back. Also said that the chef can't cut out the raw stuff so I should have eaten it that way or complained from the start. I only saw in the middle that it was raw. No solution was provided, food was taken away (half the Cordon Bleu and a pile of fries) and we had to pay. Was the case with 2 Cordon Bleus. An outrage.

In der Mitte rohes Cordon Bleu erhalten, bei der Mitte angekommen habe ich es gemerkt und wollte es zurückschicken lassen. Die Bedienung kommt ohne das Essen zurück und sagte wir müssen das Zahlen, brachte aber das angefangene Essen nicht mal mehr zurück. Sagte auch, dass der Koch nicht das rohe rausschneiden kann also hätte ich das so essen sollen oder vom Anfang an reklamieren. Dabei habe ich erst in der Mitte gesehen dass es roh ist. Keine Lösung gebracht, Essen weggenommen (das halbe Cordon Bleu und ein Haufen Pommes) und wir sollen das Zahlen. War bei 2 Cordon Bleus der Fall. Eine Unverschämtheit.

Hvis man gerne vil spise tysk mad, er mulighederne ikke mange i Mannheim. Vi fandt dette sted i første omgang for at få en øl, men menukortet så godt ud, så vi besluttede os for at vende tilbage for at spise. God og professionel betjening og veltillavet mad. Hyggelig atmosfære både ude og inde.

OMG what was that today? We sat inside because everything outside was full. Pleasant actually. But the obviously annoyed and completely exhausted staff snapped at each other the whole time. Guests sitting outside were also given strange names. When the bar was busted because the kitchen staff asked for water, I lost my faith. Unprofessional, insulting, simply impossible. So it won't work with employee loyalty. To eat, sausage salad with fries. So far ok if you like hard and cold fries. Today my companion was also really disappointed and found the pizza to be sold get used to.

Ich bin einfach von die Bedienung weg gegangen Gibt eine neue Gesetz Gibt keine Tisch frei nach 21 Uhr Ich verstehe die Gesetze nicht Aber gut, ich war in stark Kaffee meine Bier trinken 👍

Not recommended, wrong dish twice, one was cold. Glasses with lipstick. The service person doesn't speak clearly and you have to ask for everything. To top it off, it was charged twice. Either a very bad day or a change of ownership. No comparison to before.

We were eating this afternoon when we asked for the bill and when we gave a tip (two euros which we had in cash), the lady who served us accused us of saying it was a small amount of money Since there were five of us there, we should give at least five euros. Of course we refused and told him that tipping was voluntary. We found it disrespectful and shameless. We will never return to this restaurant nor do we recommend it (the fries appeared to be warmed up).

Were here as a couple on a Friday evening. We quickly found a smoke-free place outside. Service came quickly, food then separated and we had to ask again. Then the second one came quickly and the special request was also fulfilled. Can recommend the pizza! Wine glasses were well filled. The menu is fine, there should be something for everyone. Good prices. Guests are chilled and friendly. Cash and debit card possible. Ladies toilet clean but stuffy. I felt comfortable and would come again and again!
