Great service, great food. Greek with a twist. This certainly won't be the last time I visit this restaurant and have a great time.

Lots of small dishes. They're brought to the table, and everyone at the table takes something. Great for trying dishes you're unsure about. It's annoying when you want to "eat." Someone always "steals" what you want.

The food was generally good, but it wasn't a pleasant experience. We ordered bifteki, among other dishes, but the meat was still very raw inside. Due to my pregnancy, I asked the waitress to cook the meat again. She returned with the plate and asked the kitchen to tell me that the meat had to be cooked that way and that (specifically) beef can't be cooked all the way through. To be honest, it's outrageous that the chef refused to accommodate my request. Unfortunately, I have a different understanding of customer service, especially since I'm pregnant. We won't be coming back.

Good location, delicious food, perfect.

On a beautiful summer day with a reservation, we were seated inside, and not even at the front, but in the far corner. The service wasn't good either; we sat by the railing at the back, and the waiter was too lazy to come around and wanted us to hand everything to him while he cleared the table. It's theoretically no problem, but the sound is what makes the music, and he wasn't nice. The food is anything but authentic and a complete rip-off. The gyro wasn't gyro, but more like pulled pork—you can do that, but then don't call it a gyro. It's simply too bad for an exquisite restaurant, and charging these prices means expecting not only higher quality food, but also better service. Honestly, who would think of charging €8 for a tiny falafel skewer? There were a few delicious things, of course, but definitely not good enough for the price. Offering such incredibly small portions is truly outrageous. Someone is making a real killing. I won't go back and unfortunately can't recommend it to anyone.

"Authentic & Delicious – Mezé Like in Greece" A small, charming Greek restaurant with one unique feature: They serve exclusively mezé. This means you order several small plates, which makes the visit a bit more expensive than a typical Greek restaurant with main courses – but the experience is all the more authentic. The selection is deliberately kept limited and focuses on classic, well-made dishes. Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and prepared with love. The portions were perfectly adequate for a mezé, and the atmosphere was relaxed and unpretentious.

Always a delight! Great food, great wine, and very friendly and attentive service. The competitors at "My Local - Your Local" simply have no clue and don't understand the concept of "meze." We love it! :)

We'll be back🤗 if we ever find ourselves in Bochum again. We ended up here purely by chance. And we were so pleasantly surprised. Not the usual meat feast, but lots of small dishes to put together. Greek tapas. And all absolutely delicious. That's Greek. 🏳️‍🌈 Thank you for this great experience.

Four of us were there. We really enjoyed the food that evening. It was quite busy, and the staff seemed busy. Nevertheless, I would eat there again. We really enjoyed it, apart from a few reservations.

The food is okay to good, but not everything is. Some dishes are of poor quality and freshness, and the flavor is not convincing either. You have to know what you're ordering. The decor is very dated and the chairs are uncomfortable. It doesn't look that nice, and it smells bad. There's no fresh air in the back and unpleasant odors, not from the food but from something else. It urgently needs renovation. Service is okay, but things are often forgotten or people arrive late to our tables. We had to alert the server that we wanted to order. They could be more professional and at least offer some advice about wine, especially regarding wine prices. It used to be better. Honest opinion.

For me, this is without a doubt one of the best Greek restaurants in the entire Ruhr area. Vegetarians will also find something to their liking here.

First of all, the food was truly fantastic. Absolutely everything we ordered was magnificent. We both ate exclusively vegetarian food, so vegetarians definitely get their money's worth here, which is something I'm not used to in Greek restaurants. The wine was also excellent. The service was very fast, and generally, most of the waiters that evening were friendly.

For me, this was a truly magnificent and completely new experience of Greek cuisine, which I love. But compared to most Greek restaurants, Yamas "reduces" itself to mezes. These can be understood in the broadest sense as appetizers. Here, that would be a misunderstanding. There's a huge selection of mezes, most of which can also be enjoyed as main courses. All of them are of excellent quality. I thoroughly enjoyed everything. The attentive service was also excellent. Unfortunately, I was only in Bochum for one day and live in the Rhine-Main area; otherwise, this would be my regular restaurant.

The food was lukewarm and far too greasy, the water was stale. The service staff was unfriendly. €44 wasted.

So, so delicious 😋. The four of us girls were in Bochum for the Starlight Express. Going out to eat was on the agenda. And Yamas came at just the right time. We've never had such a great way to enjoy Greek specialties. Think of it like Greek tapas. We ordered lots of little treats and tried a little of everything. And everything tasted absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for the special and wonderful evening at Yamas 🥰

A very pleasant atmosphere and delicious Greek specialties. Some of the portions are reasonably priced and taste well-balanced. The shrimp and bulgur salad are particularly recommended.

Service: inadequate! One dish wasn't delivered and arrived after we had already eaten almost everything else. The souvlaki skewers were burnt on the outside and cold on the inside. Possibly a reference to frozen goods? After the invoice came, I paid it immediately - without checking it. 10 minutes later(!) I was charged another 10 euros... I was accidentally given the wrong bill. I found the “repayment”...let's say...at least unusual. This could have been corrected with an ouzo. Like I said...would have! There have often been problems with the bill in this location. And... the BO tax office could be interested in ensuring that guests are not given a final invoice, but only so-called "interim invoices"... Unfortunately max. 1 out of 5 points!

My absolute favorite Greek. The tapas are great. A trip to Bochum is worthwhile, even if you come from the Rhineland. And the service is super friendly. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Food quite good but totally overrated. Supposedly one of the best Greek restaurants. Never. Waited forever for the food. Forgot drinks. Staff friendly but disinterested. But you can sit outside nicely.

I went to this restaurant for the first time today and I'm really disappointed. The waiter came to our table relatively quickly, but we had to wait a full 15 minutes for our drinks – a white wine and an Aperol Spritz. Meanwhile, the waiters apparently preferred to have private conversations with each other instead of attending to the guests. During our entire visit, the waiter barely interacted with us. When we paid, the bill was placed on the table without comment, without eye contact, without a word. Even as I was about to pick out the money, the waiter just ran away again without asking whether we wanted to pay separately or together or how we wanted to pay at all. There was no apology for the long wait, no kind word - nothing. For me, a visit to a restaurant also includes respectful, attentive service. Unfortunately, this was completely missed here.

The food is basically okay, but my regular Greek is way better. Souvlaki skewers totally sizzled, some of the meat not of good quality, despite a relatively high turnover, NO attention from the host, neither before nor after the meal! I don't know yet whether there will be another visit, at least not at the moment!

When you're there, make sure you don't get charged for the online tip...otherwise it's delicious!

Delicious food that invites you to share. Mmn can be described as Greek tapas. It was very tasty and there was something for every taste. If you still want dessert, don't take more than 2 savory ones 😅

Today we ate at yamas after the football game between Bochum and Stuttgart. Soooo delicious and nice service. 10 thumbs up. Keep it up.

We tried the menu carousel this evening and had a very nice and delicious evening. The 4-course menu included a 5th course on the house and we were very impressed by the vegetarian menu. Everything tasted delicious and the service was super nice and accommodating. We would do it again in a heartbeat and will go to Yamas more often.

Excellent Greek cuisine. For us the best Greek restaurant in Germany. The dishes from my childhood (such as Gouverlakia etc) are wonderful and interpreted in restaurant quality. Highly recommended!!!

So all I can say is that the restaurant is really worth a visit. Very tasty food at a good price, the nice thing is that the portions are kept rather small, so you can try several things and, as already mentioned, the price-performance ratio is right. I really recommend reserving a table as it is very busy. We were there at the end of the month in the middle of the week and it was packed. The service was also very friendly and accommodating. We'd love to come back.

Mega delicious food, lovely and friendly staff. Unfortunately, tables are "parked" a bit close together and because it feels like it's always full, which speaks for itself, it is of course a little louder. However, the food makes up for everything. I'm always happy when I get to come here and I'm happy to take a longer journey to do so

We enjoyed the menu carousel (a campaign by various restaurants in Bochum and the surrounding area) last Sunday. We know and love the varied Mezé. However, the menu surpassed all of this. A completely new presentation and taste awaits the guest! It was totally cool. There were also the matching wines (attention to lovers, not otherwise available in the restaurant, especially for this menu) which really went well with it. We are certainly in the upper price segment of the menu carousel, but you can also expect an absolutely successful evening. See you soon Karsten

We went there for dinner because I was expecting a more upscale Greek restaurant. We were completely surprised when this concept with the many small dishes was explained to us. The selection on the menu was okay, although I was missing warm side dishes. Unfortunately, the dishes that were supposed to be warm were at most lukewarm. The taste was really good. Still, it wasn't entirely our case. We won't be coming back

Food good, good service, ambience a bit cool, not cozy

We were at Yamas today and I can't say much positive things. You're being ripped off here! Friends ordered water for themselves and apparently a water flat was made for everyone, even though only 2 drank water. Unfortunately we noticed it too late and we were wondering why we got so many glasses. The meze menu is a joke. No matter how many people order this, the quantity will not be increased. Rip off. My wife, who isn't much, was even hungry. At 33.90 per person???? Never again! People just don't go there. The taste is okay but nothing more. Better go to the snack bar. After you got dessert you were urged to clear the table.

The food is fine cuisine, which I really appreciate. No 0/8/15 meat plate with fries and boring salad, but unusual, very tasty creations with ingredients that cannot be found in an ordinary Greek restaurant and - what I also really liked: lots of vegetarian and vegan dishes.

We were there for the first time (Sunday) on the occasion of a birthday and were very surprised that it was so full (5 p.m.), you should definitely make a reservation in advance. But we were also more than satisfied with the food... We were just totally thrilled.

Unfortunately, this has nothing to do with Greek cuisine 😞 The taste is adapted to German cuisine, and the prices are too high.

Absolute recommendation for anyone who likes to eat with friends. The food was a dream. The staff very friendly and accommodating. Hospitality is lived here. The prices are moderate.

Even 1 star is a pleasure for this service and portions. We went there as 18 people and had the group menu where we had to pay 32.5€ per person. They serviced 1 meze for 4 people and the portion was so so small. We just could taste. For 2 people, we paid 80 euros for nothing.

The food is really exceptionally good. I particularly liked the many vegetarian options and the fava dishes. Octopus was buttery tender, you couldn't do it better. Wine works too. When I'm in Bochum again, I have to go to Yamas again. Keep it up.

Were there on December 2nd, good food and good value for money

The food is excellent BUT the time slots to be booked are a disaster and ruined the whole evening. We waited quite a long time for the second course, so of course the table was already packed before we had even eaten half of it. Loud and rough changes around us because 20 people had announced themselves and the table was needed. Annoyed and restless looks... How are you supposed to enjoy your food in peace? After all, the two of us left €120 behind, so I expect more!!! Not recommended unless you only eat 2 small things. Organization terrible!!!

Everything is OK, but unfortunately not anymore. Price performance for “Flying Meze” is not right. For 33.50 I expect more, in quantity and quality... Bread and tzatziki are not added either. Despite a reservation, I don't think it's OK to wait 1 hour for the food to arrive. Drinks came after 20 minutes…. Maybe it was the run-up to Christmas...

Great service, food good and plentiful

Underground. Ordered via Ubereats. Order arrived completely cold. Order was completely wrong (out of 9 items received 4 of which only 2 were correct). They can be reached by phone. But you can't understand a word because the phone is on loudspeaker in the kitchen. Then when a reaction came from the person who had answered the phone we were simply put aside. Never again...

We had a reservation for 10 people, which unfortunately was forgotten, even though we made the reservation by phone. Instead of an apology, it was initially indirectly suggested whether we might have made a reservation at the restaurant in Dortmund. Luckily we were able to get a table. Service experience After we were seated we ordered our drinks. These were served quickly, but we were given a piece of paper on which we had to write down our own food orders. Unfortunately no one came to pick up the note, so we had to bring it forward ourselves. The service seemed disorganized and communication left a lot to be desired. The food was finally served, albeit at a very delayed interval. The concept of “tapas” would have literally meant waiting a long time for a full meal – a disappointing experience. Food and ambience The food tasted good overall, but the meat was very salty. The plates were also cleared far too late, which meant the table remained untidy for a long time. In addition, the service seemed unfriendly and annoyed, so we didn't feel welcome. Conclusion All in all the visit was disappointing. The food was solid, but the service was poor. Given the combination of organizational weaknesses, delays and an unfriendly tone, I cannot recommend the restaurant nor will I visit it again.

We were here with several work colleagues and enjoyed the Greek tapas. The quality of the food was excellent and the food was really tasty. The selection of wines is also large and offers something for every taste. The staff was consistently friendly and attentive. Only the portion sizes could be a little larger, although that is more common with tapas. However, there is a star deduction because of the long waiting time for the meat dishes. While the other courses were served with pleasant breaks in between, we had to wait significantly longer for the meat. Overall, a very nice evening and a recommended restaurant!

It was nice, but nothing more. Entertainment was hardly possible. I don't understand why the owner can't create a more pleasant atmosphere with now chic wall insulation panels. And anyone who wants to understand why there is still a sprinkler coming from the speakers despite the noise. Food was good except for the farmer's salad. The cucumber was water, the tomatoes had no taste, and I had to look for olives

I recently visited the Greek meze restaurant Yamas and just loved it! The selection of meze is great - from classic dishes like hummus and tzatziki to more creative variations. I particularly enjoyed the freshly grilled souvlaki skewers, which were perfectly seasoned and wonderfully tender. The feta creations were also a dream: crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside and with a hint of herbs that just fit perfectly. Plus the crusty bread and the fresh Greek salad – everything was simply delicious. The service was very friendly and attentive, a bit slow at times, but it was also very busy. The restaurant itself has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. It was an all-round great experience that I can only recommend. If you want to enjoy authentic Greek cuisine in a pleasant atmosphere, you should definitely try this restaurant!

Great food, great service, but for my taste it was too loud/busy with the Greek music playing at the same time, which couldn't cover up the "crowd noise". This restaurant is very popular and always very busy, but due to the many tables and the many, sometimes very loud, parties, the background noise was too tiring for me.

We did it again! We have been here off and on since 2016. The menu has constantly adapted - the quality and great concept as well as the service have remained the same and great. In particular, the service from a young lady today was simply pleasantly good, from the beginning to the bill. We'd love to come back!

Wir waren heute zu zweit nach etlichen Jahren durch einen privaten Termin in Bochum und sind durch Zufall in dieser Meze-Bar gelandet. Und für diesen Zufall sind wir dankbar. Ich versuche mal, die unterschiedlichen Bewertungen hier aus meiner persönlichen Sicht und der heutigen Erfahrung zusammenzufassen: Ich bin geschäftlich in den letzten 10 Jahren rund 30-40 Mal in Griechenland gewesen und habe dort mindestens doppelt so viele Geschäftsessen miterlebt. Und wenn ich sage, dass diese Meze hier das erste griechische Essen war, dass ich hier als authentisch bezeichne, dann könnte ich kein größeres Lob aussprechen. Die Speisen heben sich qualitativ wohltuend von den Imbissqualitäten nach „griechischer Art“ ab, die viele Leute als „typisch griechisch“ eben im Kopf haben, und das scheint ein Problem zu sein. Wer ein Freund von „Metaxa-Schnitzel mit Pommes und einem Ouzo aufs Haus“ ist und mit dieser Erwartung im Kopf hier essen geht, der wird enttäuscht sein. Und genau das lese ich hier in einigen „Frust-Bewertungen“. Bitte missverstehen sie mich nicht, das soll nicht herablassend klingen, es geht hier lediglich um falsche Erwartungshaltungen. Auch ich esse gerne ein schnelles Gyros Pita „auf die Hand“. Das ist aber nicht zu vergleichen mit dem Essen von heute: -echter Fetakäse im Sesammantel gebraten und mit Honigsauce -Stücke von Doradenfilet auf Selleriepüree mit Kalamatatropfen und Kapernapfel -Gyros von Pulled Pork auf superleckerem Pitabrot mit hausgemachtem Tzatziki -köstliche Kartoffelecken mit geraspeltem Käse on top Was die angesprochenen Preise betrifft: das oben genannte hat mit einem Bier vom Fass, einem Glas leckeren Weißwein, einem Cappuccino und einer Cola insgesamt 48,70 Euro gekostet. Das ist preislich mehr als angemessen, da gibt es nichts zu meckern. Die Einrichtung ist übrigens angenehm zurückhaltend und stimmig, irgendwo zwischen Bar in mediterranem Stil und Restaurant. Der Service war immer präsent und freundlich. Wir waren nach dem Essen angenehm satt und werden garantiert wiederkommen. Klare Empfehlung.

It looks very impersonal and cold. Moussaka came to the table lukewarm. But it was taken back and re-served somewhat warm.

Reserved a table for 2 people early. When we arrived we got the last table in the last corner. When we asked if we could get another table, the answer was...we have a larger party so no. It would have been nice to meet us beforehand If we had been informed about this, we would have chosen another restaurant early on. It was our wedding anniversary.../ we otherwise really enjoy staying at Yamas. Not a nice evening!!

Wir hatten einen Tisch für 2 Personen gebucht. ( Hochzeitstag). Uns wurde der letzte Tisch in der letzten Ecke zugewiesen. Auf Nachfrage ob wir einen anderen Tisch bekommen könnten, wurde uns gesagt ...Nein keine Möglichkeit, wir haben eine Gesellschaft mit 60 Personen. Es wäre schön gewesen, uns im Vorfeld darüber zu informieren, dass das Restaurant am Limit ist. Freunde der griechischen Küche und des Yamas verloren!

One issue I just wondered; before ordering the foods and drinks, waiter said that only cash payment could be accepted that night (Saturday) and after finished the dinner, we paid with cash but waiter did not offer us giving a receipt for 120€. I suspect that, this restaurant avoids declaring their earning especially at the high demanding days. German tax office may inspect that matter. (Upon restaurant managment's request; 12th Oct. 2024 8am, 3 people. a brunette waiter with beard served to us. I will add a picture showing our table location.)

I love eating here, The range of delicacies from Greek cuisine are of very high quality and prepared with a lot of love. The portions are sufficient even for good eaters. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is great. I find the prices very moderate. Always my pleasure.
