Alt Piräus in Bochum

A Greek restaurant with a modern ambiance. There were four of us, and everyone except me was satisfied. My fries from the ouzo plate were cold and unsalted, while the souvlaki skewer was heavily salted. And I only received the accompanying ouzo after asking for it. I'll chalk it up to the pre-Christmas stress and give Alt Piraeus another chance.

Even though the prices have increased noticeably in some cases, this restaurant is still worth the money. Great food, excellent and attentive service, and the after-dinner shot helps with digestion 😁

We were disappointed overall. The food was average in taste, and the portions were small. We found the salad bar uninspired, and serving dressing from plastic bottles in a restaurant... well, that's just not right. I have to say, there are quite a few Greek takeaways in and around Bochum where the food is better. The service was okay, friendly, and there wasn't a long wait, but the restaurant wasn't very busy when we were there. The only thing that was reasonable for Stiepeler was the price. And yes, we know that we're only giving our personal impressions and that it's always just a snapshot, but this was our second time there, and both times we ended up with the same disappointment. Nevertheless, we're trying to be objective in our criticism and hope that you'll take it to heart and reflect on it critically.

Very good Greek restaurant in Bochum-Stiepel. The food is fantastic. I was there with my girlfriend, had a lovely table, and everything was spotlessly clean. We've now discovered this restaurant thanks to the culinary menu and will definitely be back. Thanks for the lovely evening.

A truly outstanding Greek restaurant with a variety of exceptional dishes. The service is so fast and friendly. It's a good thing we discovered this restaurant through the Kulinariscard 2025. We will now go there regularly when we are in Bochum.

Valentine's Day is a holiday in Old Piraeus!!! Unfortunately, we weren't allowed in with the Kulinaris card! It was either full price or come another time!!! Here in Herne, everyone had to work, so it's not a holiday! Too bad, I won't be going there! Unfortunately, I had to give it a 1* rating so everyone can see that.

Great restaurant in Bochum-Stiepel. From the outside it's an eye-catcher with a kind of castle look, it has something historical about it. Nice interior & good food in a nice residential area. The price was really good too. The staff & service was also great, nice people there. Very attentive. We would love to visit Old Piraeus again sometime soon.

Our “regular Greek” for 30 years It couldn't be better, everything was perfect

On January 13th was my first visit to Old Piraeus and I really enjoyed it. We received a friendly welcome and were assigned a comfortable table. Requests for drinks were taken care of immediately. The food was beautifully prepared, very tasty and plentiful. Price/performance ratio is great. Very good Greek in the middle of Stiepel, I definitely recommend it.

We were accommodated as a group of 10 people in a "storage room". The food and service, on the other hand, were great.

2025: Suggestion for improvement: The meat plates could all be served with tzatziki. 2024: We were very happy with the food. Kulinaris Card recognized without any problems, friendly service and everything tasted very tender and tasty. Our two dishes cost 18 euros each.

As you can see from the stars how much we liked and enjoyed it. We had dinner in Piraeus on Christmas Day. We've known each other for a while now. That's why the greeting was very heartfelt. The food was once again really great. Keep it up. Greetings Bernd and Ute

We reserved our table weeks in advance. Our group consisted of three generations. We were assigned the table quite taciturnly (which was in a narrow niche). We were not greeted, only the menus were placed on the table and the service employee disappeared. Afterwards After an eternity of waiting, we were briefly informed that there would be no gyros today. When we asked, they said, "The gyros are out and we won't be making any more today." That was at 6:30 p.m., but it was open until 10:30 p.m. So four more hours. We put a good face on the bad side and ordered some of the food that was still left and were totally disappointed. The so-called "salad buffet" consisted of four small bowls with leftover carrots, a few lost corn kernels, some coleslaw broth and a few unappetizing ones Tomatoes. An absolute disgrace. After we asked an employee about it in a friendly and still patient manner, he didn't improve the matter, but brought the bill without being asked. After we... When we took a look at it, we realized that the boss had miscalculated to our disadvantage. We were charged a whopping 10 euros too much. This "store" is a nightmare. Unfriendly, expensive, the food is of mediocre quality and definitely not recommended.

"Speak to us if something is not to your liking. Your satisfaction is important to us." - These are the introductory words in the menu. -> EMPTY words! When we visited today for a birthday party, we were informed that orders for gyros dishes would mean an hour wait. It's not nice, but we agreed. It was then announced that gyros were no longer being produced today and therefore could not be ordered. -> Then it's better to be honest! When paying, the waitress offered a round of ouzo (as we know it from Greek restaurants). However, even after waiting for a while, we didn't get this ouzo. Only when we asked in detail did the waitress say that the boss had forbidden us from serving anything! -> Absolutely awesome 🤣. We didn't do anything wrong. Annoying that we came to meet them and were ready to order other dishes. Actually, we should have left and moved the meal to another restaurant. It also fits well into the picture that the boss doesn't feel comfortable telling us this personally, but instead passes it on to his staff and is no longer approachable. Of course, there was no happy birthday greeting at any point in the evening, even though a birthday dinner was explicitly mentioned when we made the reservation. -> embarrassing and unprofessional. As a HOST, you should be passionate about the well-being of your guests and not just want to be part of this industry for maximum profit.

Very good. I have known the restaurant for 30 years. Back then with the previous owner. It's always nice to dine there. 2024_0924: I go to the Alt Piraeus restaurant with my wife almost every week. Always nice there and the dishes are unique. Fish and gyros picadikos (nice and spicy, with lots of pepperoni) are highly recommended. 2024_1103: Restaurant Alt Piraeus always surprises with special dishes. This time we had lamb steak stuffed with spinach and gratinated with cheese. It is served with potatoes and a tasty sauce. Side salad from the buffet. It tasted very, very good. Thank you for the lovely evening. We always enjoy coming back.

Always worth it, everything is great!

Friendly, portions OK, salad bar small. There is a Quzo to greet you and one when paying. I like it, unfortunately it's no longer a given. Will come back.

Had the mix plate. Souvlaki was from another world! Bifteki was also super tasty and the chocolate cake with ice cream scoop for dessert was wonderful. Service was also very friendly, very friendly team.

Very nice typical Greek restaurant with friendly staff and owner...the menu offers something for everyone and is stocked with a large selection, it leaves nothing to be desired...the food is simply a pleasure...The restaurant is in a quiet area Located on a side street which can unfortunately lead to parking problems.

The service here is always very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the starters and main courses. We had a very nice evening.

We have been visiting the restaurant at regular intervals for years. Today we decided not to come back. No longer recommended. The quality of the food has deteriorated, the otherwise delicious Metaxa sauce is now just like a cream sauce, the portions are smaller and the boss is very arrogant and incapable of criticism. There wasn't the usual ouzo beforehand and when the employee offered us an ouzo at the end, our grandma asked if she could have something else instead because she can't tolerate ouzo. When asked, the boss commented on this with a very derogatory gesture and the words “only gives Ouzo”. We all gave up gratefully. We also had to wait a long time for our food because we were apparently overwhelmed with a company and a few guests. Too bad!!! Staff but nice and friendly.

Price/performance is very good. Service very friendly. Ambience simple. Well suited for a cozy dinner. We will come back.

The service was nice and courteous. But after the first order, they didn't check whether the guest had any further requests (drinks with the meal) - the food was delicious. The calamari salad at 7 euros was reasonable but, although delicious, I would skip it next time. The side salad from the buffet saves on olives and peppers. Very unfortunate. The bifteki was fine.

Nice atmosphere, very tasty food

Had dinner there with my daughter and son-in-law. On a Tuesday. Packed full! That probably says it all. The waiter was really attentive and friendly and immediately fulfilled our request for another table. The food was very tasty. Becomes our regular Greek.

Very tasty food, friendly service, unfortunately the prices have risen sharply. That's why we don't come as often anymore. The parking situation is rather bad and paying with a card often doesn't work. This spoils the otherwise positive impression.

I got to know him through the Kulinaris card and the result was that the trip from Dortmund was worth it.

We ordered food to pick up. Three starters, a salad and a platter. Everything was delicious and obviously freshly made. The gyro wasn't riddled with fat, which is very important to me :) The tzatziki was also delicious the next day and we would order here again 😊

Insider tip! One of our favorite Greek places in Bochum, the food is pretty good and the staff is super friendly. I can recommend it without hesitation. Very good restaurant. We received a friendly welcome, very good and nice service. Drinks and food came just right. No rush, completely relaxed. Food was very good. I had gyros and souvlaki, the gyros were perfect, souvlaki were really juicy. Fries were great. Otherwise there was eggplant and sheep's cheese, I tried it, really tasty. Card payment is no problem at all. There was an ouzo as a nightcap. It's unbelievable that we've never been here before even though we only live 15 minutes away. Thank you very much - everyone was very satisfied. I recommend reserving a table - even if it's at short notice - there are enough tables, we actually wanted to reserve for 6 p.m., they asked nicely if 5:45 p.m. was also possible - this way you can of course equalize the peak times a little so that all guests can get there quickly and can be used well. To everyone who deducts stars here because of the lack of parking spaces: You are rating the restaurant, the food, the service... Imagine you are looking for a restaurant and it only has 3 stars - food top, service top, actually everything top - but you can't park. It would be annoying if you didn't go there because it only has 3 stars, you would miss something.

I'm originally from Bochum, have been living in Munich for almost 10 years now and only recently discovered this insider tip during a visit. On the other hand, every noble Greek in Munich can pack a punch, the food is excellent, the service is friendly, fast and professional. I no longer dare to go to a Greek restaurant in Munich, knowing full well that I will be disappointed. The only suggestion for improvement: The fries are run of the mill, considering the quality of the meat, for example, they are noticeably poor.

Wer mal in Griechenland gewesen ist, wird das Essen schrecklich finden. Es weit weg vom Orginal. Eher wie der Deutsche meint, was Griechisch ist.

Seit vielen vielen Jahren gehen wir im Alt Piräus essen. Es war immer alles sehr gut schmackhaft und auch ein sehr nettes Restaurant.

Sehr lecker dort auch wenn das Ambiente etwas altmodisch ist.

Die Gyros Pita auf der Stiepler Dorfkirmes war schlechte Werbung. Ein großes Stück Knorpel im Fleisch und geschmacklich auch nicht berauschend.

Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Der Service war freundlich, aufmerksam und mit einem angenehmen Quäntchen Humor. Die Preise sind angemessen.

Freundlich Preiswert und Lecker. Seit Jahren Gast in diesem Restaurant und noch nie enttäuscht worden. Zu sehr Fairen Preisen gibt es hier allerlei griechische Spezialitäten. Gerade die Fleischplatten so wie Rumpsteak und Gyros sind sehr zu empfehlen. Der Service ist immer freundlich und professionell. Bleibt so wie Ihr seid!

Wirklich DER Grieche in Stiepel. Über all die Jahre immer top Qualität, super frisch, absolut lecker und der Inhaber ist Spitze. Personal ist super freundlich und zuvorkommend und auch Sonderwünsche sind kein Problem. Immer wieder gerne. Und das alles hat sich in 30 Jahren nicht geändert.

Nettes Ambiente, nettes Personal und seh leckeres Fleisch. Ich hatte die Jannis-Platte (Nr.74) und kann nichts negative sagen. Hier kann man an und ab mal hin.

Das Essen war recht gut. Die gegrillten Peperonis waren sehr gut. Die Lammfilets waren gut, ebenso die Beanaise. Die Bratkartoffeln hätten etwas knuspriger sein können. Das Interieur ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen und könnte mal aufgefrischt werden.

Zart, lecker, eben super, super, super!

Wir haben Gyros und Suflaki gegessen.Sehr geschmackvoll. Das Fleisch saftig und die Metaxasosse sehr lecker.

Wir waren zum erstenmal Mal im Restaurant essen gewesen. Da es uns sehr gut gefallen hat werden wir auch wieder kommen. Die Qualität der Speisen ist sehr gut, das Personal ist freundlich und sehr aufmerksam. Wir kommen wieder.

Top! Waren heute zum ersten Mal dort mit drei Personen und hatten drei verschiedene Vorspeisen und drei verschiedene Hauptgerichte, die alle sehr sehr lecker waren. Vor allem ist das Gyros hier richtig mager und auch die Metaxasauce ist top. Hinzu kommt kommt noch die sehr nette und freundliche Bedienung. Einziges Manko: Keine Restaurant-Parkplätze, aber wir werden ganz bestimmt nochmal direkt essen gehen. Heute (15.06.23) zum 5. Mal dort gewesen und wieder sensationell gut gegessen. Zu empfehlende Vorspeisen: Tzaziki, überbackene Muscheln, Knoblauchbrot überbacken, Shrimps Saganaki, gefüllte Champignons mit Spinat überbacken. Zu empfehlende Hauptspeisen: Gyros überbacken, Mix Teller, Filet Teller, Marathon Platte, Piräus Platte, Lammfilet in Rotweinsauce, Rinderleber. Wir werden sehr bald wieder dort essen gehen 👍🙂

Die Lammkoteletts sind ein Traum🤩 😋👍Sowas von lecker!!! Der Weißwein dazu war ebenfalls gut. Vorweg gab es Salat, die Soße war zum Glück mal was anderes und schmackhaft. Super netter Service und an einem Montagabend noch freie Platzwahl.

Essen und Bedienung ganz gut... Musik und Ambiente ist nicht ganz so gut . Der Salat war eher lieblos angerichtet, schmeckte auch eher wie von einer Pommesbude, und hätte höchstens zwei Sterne verdient.

Leckeres Essen und eine sehr umfangreiche Karte. Klare Empfehlung. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Gleich vorweg. Das Essen ist geschmacklich gut. Jedoch sind die Portionen eher klein. Die Auswahl ist vielfältig und auch Vegetarier werden hier eine größere Anzahl vegetarischer Haupt- und besonders Vorspeisen vorfinden. Die Portionen vegetarischer Hauptspeisen sind klein. Wir waren zu dritt an einem kleinen Tisch und saßen ziemlich beengt. Die Teller nahmen zu viel Platz weg, um bequem zu speisen. Das Personal ist durchschnittlich freundlich. Insgesamt kann ich dieses Restaurant weiterempfehlen.

Das Essen war lecker, das Personal sehr freundlich und Aufmerksam. Die Karte ist eher international als griechisch. Mir fehlten einige typische griechische Gerichte auf der Karte. Weiterer Minuspunkt, die Parkplatzsituation ist wirklich schlimm.

Essen war gut (Preis/Leistung), Service war freundlich. Ambiente büßt einen Punkt ein wegen einer kaputten Lampe und den abgenutzten Stühlen. Sonst ein hübscher Laden.

Lecker gegessen, bei vollem Lokal etwas hektisch. Nischen etwas dunkel. Hat aber Spaß gemacht. Kommen wieder!

Wir haben hier sehr gemütlich in einer Nische mit 6 Personen gesessen. War mit einer Lampe und Kerze zwar ein bisschen dunkel aber das hat ja nichts mit dem Essen zu tun. Gegessen haben wir hier sehr gut. Der Service ist gut und die Bedienung sehr freundlich. Wir kommen gerne wieder zum Essen hierher. Tipp am Rande: auf dem Anfahrtsweg in der 30-Zone stand der Potzblitz! War leider erfolgreich ☹️

Sehr freundliches Personal. Essen für meine Verhältnisse lecker. Kundenwunsch (Beilagen wechseln) wurden unkompliziert aufgenommen. Negativ oder besser gesagt was ich schade finde ist das keine Parkplätze für Gäste vorhanden sind. Diese Restaurant kann ich gut empfehlen.

Wir waren mit neun Personen vor Ort . Das Ambiente ist recht ansprechend , dass Personal nett und aufmerksam . Das Restaurant ist recht eng geschnitten , sodass unser Tisch etwas schmal war .Aber es ging . Leider war bei mir keine Metaxa Soße auf dem Fleisch , sondern eine nicht schmeckende durchschnitt Soße . Außerdem waren die etwas zu cross und somit zu hart . Bestimmt hätte ich die bestellte Soße bekommen , aber ich wollte kein Aufsehen machen .Alles im allem hat es uns trotzdem gefallen .

Außerordentlich leckere Speisen! Gemütliches Ambiente. Freundliche Mitarbeiter. Preis Leistung stimmt. Ein gelungener Abend, wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Schönes Lokal essen super Lecker Preisleistung Top, die Bedienung super freundlich, aber ein Stern musste ich abziehen den wenn man weiter vorne sitzt hat man das gefühl beobachtet zu werden wann man wie fertig wird, man hat sich noch nicht wirklich hin gesetzt, und zack wird man schon nach gefragt, was man Trinken möchte, so wie das man nicht in Ruhe gucken kann was man bestellen möchte. Ansonsten super.

Absolut toller Service und spitzenmässiges Essen.

Es war schon mal deutlich besser. Der Service war unaufmerksam. Als das Essen geliefert wurde mussten wir mehrmals nachordern, weiß sie es einfach vergessen hatten. Die Portion war deutlich kleiner als sonst. Echt schade, wir sind öfters dort, hatten wieder einmal Freunde mitgenommen die es noch nicht kannten. Sie merkten nach dem Essen das wir enttäuscht waren, obwohl wir vorher so geschwärmt hatten. Das ist umso ärgerlicher weil wir extra aus Essen kommen.

Waren mit vier Personen zum Essen, drei Personen bekamen ihr Hauptgericht - einer nicht. Keine Nachfrage etc.- 10min. später unsererseits, wo das 4.Essen bleibt …. Echt, sagt der Kellner - vier Personen - drei Essen …. ?? Das Essen wurde abbestellt- wer möchte sein Gericht alleine essen, wenn alle anderen dann fertig sind - kein Wort der Entschuldigung seitens des Servicepersonals….. traurig ….

Ich weiß nicht so recht wo ich anfangen soll. Soweit macht das Restaurant vom Ambiente und der Sauberkeit einen guten Eindruck. Der Service ließ leider echt zu wünschen übrig. Innerhalb eines 3 Stündigen Aufenthaltes wurde nur ein Getränk serviert. Keine weitere Nachfrage oder Ähnliches. Als die Hauptspeise serviert wurde begann auf dem Tisch mit meinen Sitznachbarn die große Meisterschaft des Tellerrückens da die Teller der Vorspeisen nicht abgeräumt wurden und somit kaum noch Platz auf dem Tisch war. So etwas habe ich tatsächlich noch nicht erlebt. Die Fleischspeisen von meinem Gericht waren geschmacklich wirklich Top, aber die kalten Pommes die dazu serviert wurden waren echt enttäuschend. Ich weiß leider nicht ob dies die Ausnahme oder die Regel in dem Restaurant ist. Der Service wirkte unterbesetzt und gestresst. Von mir wird es leider keinen weiteren Besuch geben. Schade.

Sehr leckere Metaxasoße, Gyros nicht so fettig, wie bei so manch anderen Restaurants, sogar die Pommes waren top. Die Portionen könnten insgesamt vielleicht eeetwas größer sein. Mit einer kleinen Vorspeise aber auf jeden Fall auch bei großem Hunger ausreichend. Das Personal war freundlich und die Atmosphäre schön.

Es war lieblos gedeckt ..der Raum war kalt....einfach die Tische zsm gestellt, 1kerze drauf und Besteck...das wars Das Essen war lecker,nur leider wenn man nach dem Essen noch Hunger hat kann man davon ausgehen das es zu wenig war

Schönes Restaurant mit sehr, sehr netten Personal. Wir hatten mezze und Hauptgänge. Die Vorspeisen waren ok, aber ein bisschen viele crèmes und nur eine warme Variation. Das war schade, aber dafür waren die Hauptgänge gut angerichtet und haben sehr geschmeckt.
