Wüstenblume Fulda in Fulda

Today we were in the desert flower for the first time. When we entered the restaurant we were first impressed by the furnishings and the lovely ambience. A look at the menu confirmed our impression. The starters, the main courses and also the desserts were great and, above all, homemade. There are no convenience products here! You can taste it straight away. You may also want to wait a little longer. The prices absolutely correspond to the quality of the food. We would love to come back.

The food is unusual, but in a positive way. Only recommended. Attention: There are no alcoholic drinks. I'm just writing this so that no one is disappointed.

Great little restaurant with great flair! Nice welcome, good and fast service with energy, a short introduction to the culinary delights of a trip to Africa. Pretty steam effect on the main course! The food is super delicious and the portions are enough for men's stomachs! There was a small disadvantage, I was full and would have liked to try a lot more. The cocktails are also really tasty and everything is nicely and stylishly decorated. We'll be back, even if it's a 90 minute drive - it's definitely worth it! Thank you dear restaurant team

We ordered takeaway from Wüstenblume and were unfortunately a bit disappointed. The dishes were carelessly prepared and tasted rather average. We had hoped for more given the good reviews. Perhaps eating on-site is a better experience, but unfortunately our impression of the take-away was underwhelming.

I had the pleasure of eating at Desert Flower over the weekend and I have nothing but positive things to say! The ambience was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed dinner. The menu offered a diverse selection of dishes and everything we tried was simply delicious. We particularly loved the fufu with peanut sauce and chicken drumsticks – it was perfectly seasoned and the presentation was fantastic. The service was also excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive and always had a smile on their faces. They quickly identified our needs and made sure we felt completely comfortable. I can only warmly recommend Desert Flower and look forward to our next visit!

We ate here on October 5th, 2024 with almost 30 people. Since we had actually planned and reserved less, it quickly became very crowded. We were participants in the IML Fulda March and celebrated our meeting because we come from all over Germany. The staff did everything they could to make us happy and created a huge “table” for us. We were all in a very good mood and the service team kept the general mood high. The food was delicious and we had fun at every single meal. I can highly recommend the restaurant, it is small but nice, a super friendly and open team. Thanks

Great location! Great food and everything about it

We were here for dinner. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait for our table. The restaurant is quite small, the tables are crowded and therefore it gets quite loud. Conversations at normal volume were not possible during our evening. The service was very good and attentive. At first we had a table by the door, but every time there was a crowd and it was terrible. This was resolved as soon as another table became available. (Other guests who were sitting at the door table after us were also moved, if possible, because it is not comfortable there) There is no alcohol in the restaurant. The non-alcoholic cocktails are recommended. The appetizer platter for two people consisted mostly of fried foods. As a result, everything seemed somewhat similar in taste. The main courses are eaten with your hands. They were tasty, but I expected more of a wow factor. In terms of price, the restaurant is in the upper range. Considering the food wasn't 100% satisfying and my husband wasn't full, I thought it was too expensive. All in all an experience, but it won't be our regular place.

What a great taste and ambience experience! Family-run small East African restaurant - we were completely satisfied, no - rather enthusiastic! I haven't eaten so well in a long time (with my hands, of course!) The boss - so uniquely personable, open and humorous; great service! Zunächst das Positive! Cooles Ambiente, netter Service mit guter Kenntnis was das Essen angeht. Auch die Art und Weise wie es serviert wird ist ein Showeffekt. Das Essen mit den Händen ist gewöhnungsbedürftig, gehört aber irgendwie mit dazu, wobei man auf Wunsch auch ein Besteck erhalten kann. Die Vorspeisen waren lecker (Frühlingsrollen, frittierte Taschen und Fleischbällchen) und leicht zu essen. Die Hauptgerichte fanden wir viel zu lasch gewürzt und die Art und Weise wie es angerichtet war sorgte dafür, dass das Brot völlig matschig wurde. Das geht besser! Für uns ist Essen nicht nur Nahrungsaufnahme, sondern immer ein kleines Event. Dazu gehört für uns auch ein Glas Wein. Ein richtiges Glas Wein!

The food was delicious and tasted wonderful. The ambience is great, food is served with dry ice mist. Everything is only recommended. You can eat entirely with your fingers, but you can also order cutlery. Sink in the room for washing hands before and after 👍

We were already in the desert flower 8 months ago. It was simply fantastic, nice and very friendly staff, we immediately felt very comfortable. We started our African culinary journey with a desert flower cocktail (lime, condensed milk, coconut milk and fresh mint). We shared the starter. IT was a mixed appetizer platter with East African specialties (2 Sambusa, 3 Lambi spring rolls, 4 Bajio with 2 spicy sauces). For main courses we ordered sabaayad, Somali flatbread and tender cooked beef. We also drank a non-alcoholic wine. In African culture, people enjoy their food with their hands. That's why the dishes at Wüstenblume are generally served without cutlery. Of course, cutlery will be provided upon request. We felt very taken care of, the dishes, the food without cutlery and the drinks were explained. We would like to say a big thank you for a lovely evening and great service

The food was an absolute highlight! On recommendation, we opted for the mixed starter platter, which offered a small but fine selection of East African specialties: 2 Sambusa, 3 Lambi spring rolls and 4 Bajio - all fresh and incredibly tasty. For the main course I had suqaar, tenderly cooked beef with a fresh side salad. The whole thing was accompanied by an exotic desert flower cocktail with lime, condensed milk, coconut milk and fresh mint - refreshing and simply perfect. The crowning finale was Luqiman, round dough balls with a topping of coconut flakes and icing. A dream for anyone who likes it sweet! The team was incredibly welcoming and made us feel like we were at home. A clear recommendation for anyone who wants to experience authentic East African cuisine!”

There were two of us in the Wüstenblume Restaurant and we were warmly welcomed by the super friendly service. As a starter we had the platter for two people – a real treat! Every little thing was perfectly seasoned and fresh. We were particularly enthusiastic about the fufu with chicken. The chicken was incredibly tender and the sauce had a great seasoning that wasn't overpowering but perfectly balanced. Overall a great dining experience. We'll definitely be back

Wow, what a loving and warm place with a great menu that remains select and manageable! The food was great, the service was friendly and open, so I immediately felt comfortable and in good hands, even though it was my first time eating African food and that means using my fingers in the restaurant (but there is also cutlery if you want). ). The service was simply top. I had the feeling that the employees were passionate about it. Ambiance is unbeatable. Even the toilet looks better than the interior of some restaurants. There was nothing wrong with the food. Everything tasted good. The one hour drive was definitely worth it. Hopefully again soon.

I was in Fulda for work and spontaneously went out to eat there. I have to say it was awesome. I have rarely experienced such great service, such a great ambience and fantastic food. I'm soon driving the 3 hours to Fulda to eat there again 😀

Clearly 5 stars are far too few. Was there for the second time today with my family. The boss and the employees were very helpful, hospitable and fond of children. About the food: The starter was delicious, the main course was gigantic and, above all, my child and I had a lot of fun eating with our hands. The dessert was also very tasty. Drink recommended by the boss also tasted very good. And of course you shouldn't forget the toilet, just something special with exotic animal noises.

The look alone is really cool and looks authentic. The staff was super friendly. The food was well prepared and really tasty. The little show is also a cool thing. It wasn't the last time we were there. What was disturbing was the flashing mural. If you set it to slowly change color, your stay would be absolutely perfect. Keep it up.

Wir waren spontan zu dritt essen. Wir haben dreimal die Nummer 27(Sabaayad) zweimal die 35(Fufu mit Hähnchenkeule) bestellt und als Vorspeise das Bajio. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und äußerst freundlich bedient. Da wir viel Hunger hatten, wollten wir noch einmal Hähnchenkeule nachbestellen, die bekamen wir dann aufs Haus. Die Inneneinrichtung ist was ganz besonderes. Wir werden aufjedenfall wieder kommen Eine absolute Empfehlung, danke Wüstenblume♡

Yesterday we visited a new African restaurant in Fulda. The interior is very interesting, fits the style of Africa. The room is small so the tables are very close to each other. There are limited seats, you need to reserve in advance. We tried African dishes for the first time. We ordered FuFu, plateau of snacks Sabaayad mit Suqqar and Injera mit allen Saucen. The order took an insanely long time; we waited about 40 minutes for the appetizer. And we waited another hour for the main dishes. I liked the appetizer, it includes various crispy small rolls with cheese, meat and pea balls. Extra 2 sauces. I liked the Injera with different sauces the least, both in appearance and taste. There are different types of spreads, from several types of peas, and others. One pasta with meat had very tasty spices. The dish called Sabayyad was average in taste. And the most impressive dish was Chicken Fufu, it was a delight. The sauce is simply great. I would like to note the very beautiful presentation of the dishes using dry ice. For a table for three, with three mains, an appetizer and three drinks - the check was 93 € What also spoiled the impression was the service. The dirty napkin lay on the table until I handed it directly to the waitress.

We celebrated my wife's birthday with 8 people, all of us there for the first time. I asked for a little surprise and everything went absolutely great. For all of us, the food was absolutely delicious and something completely different, apart from the fact that the service was great. We mixed everything and ate everything Khalid recommended to us and it was great. I can recommend my highlight: Fufu with peanut sauce and chicken leg, simply awesome! It's a very familiar atmosphere in the shop, which invites me to often just drink a tea there to get away from all the noise outside. We were in the restaurant for the first time today and were warmly welcomed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating across the board. The ambience is really enchanting. There are colors and lights everywhere that surround you. The desert flower really manages to enchant you and take you on a culinary journey. The menu is limited, but the dishes are all high quality and very tasty. A visit to the Wüstenblume is worthwhile for anyone who wants to try something different or simply wants to have a really good African meal. Absolute recommendation!

The toilet is the best toilet I have ever seen. The food was prepared very quickly and with a lot of love. You can also celebrate a birthday wonderfully there. I'm really excited about it. Everything just tasted very good. Fufu is a recommendation!
