After a minimal wait, we were shown to our small table. The welcome was incredibly friendly, and I personally love being addressed informally; it immediately makes you feel welcome. Our waiters were fantastic! They were attentive and friendly and gave great recommendations. The service truly made our dining experience special. (Eating with your hands is really fun!) For starters, we had a selection of East African specialties including sambusas, lambi spring rolls, and bajio. Unfortunately, the accompanying sauces were too spicy for me. I would have liked a third, milder sauce for people like me who can't handle spice. My daughter thought both dips were delicious. My main course was Sabaayad, a Somali flatbread that was golden brown and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It came with Suqaar (tender, boiled beef) and a side salad. I can highly recommend it!! Unfortunately, I was quite full from the appetizers, but they packed my leftovers in a box. What's really great is that the Sabaayad tastes amazing even the next day (cold). One or two fewer tables might make the space feel a bit more open, and a second restroom with a urinal would be fantastic. But maybe I'm just not ready for unisex restrooms yet. The "Desert Flower" (a trendy bar) could easily be in Berlin, Hamburg, or Munich with its ambiance. A real culinary gem for Fulda!! I'll definitely be back.

The ambiance is very nice, the food is very good, but not exceptionally good, and while the service is very friendly, it did become less frequent and attentive over the course of the visit (as is unfortunately the case in many other restaurants). I find it noteworthy that no alcoholic beverages are offered; this is a plus for me. Card payments are not accepted. Overall, I would recommend it, but it's not an exceptional experience.

I think this restaurant is so good! The injera with the vegan lentil sauce was really good, and if I could, I'd eat two kilos of those fried dough balls. Not only was the food top-notch and something different, but the ambiance was fantastic with beautiful decor. And the service was super friendly, attentive, and truly lovely. I completely understand why this restaurant is so popular, and I hope I can come back soon to try even more! Highly recommended!

As for the service staff, if all restaurants had half the friendliness of this one, there would be half the complaints. The owner and the food, prepared by African women under his mother's guidance, are very authentic and clearly identify with the business. We will gladly return again and again. Today was our second time there. Apparently, we had made a reservation at the wrong restaurant (Pars), 😂😂😂 which caused some confusion. Despite the incorrect reservation, they did everything they could to get us a table for three. Our waitress took this with great humor, despite the circumstances, and we had a very pleasant evening. We've been here several times. Today there was a lot of confusion because the table was accidentally reserved at the Persian restaurant instead of here, but the staff took it with good humor and squeezed us in with a lot of effort. Best wishes to the team :). The food is a solid 11 out of 10. The service is the best I've ever had in a restaurant. You can have a lot of fun with the staff. Otherwise, the ambiance and setting are perfect. All in all, a highly recommended and wonderful experience.

We girls go to Fulda once a year and discovered the "Desert Flower" by chance last year. The authentic food is "incredibly delicious." You can eat with your hands, but cutlery is also provided upon request. You definitely have to try the "Desert Flower" drink! In Bavaria, we say "saulecker" 🥰

It was fantastic. The interior was super atmospheric, stunning, and fitting. The food and cocktails were truly delicious. The value for money was absolutely justified and not excessive. The entire team was accommodating, friendly, open, and well-organized. We also received a brief introduction to the concept (including the idea of ​​tasting food with your hands) and good recommendations to help us choose. We then read on the menu that they don't serve alcohol to create a family-friendly and safe environment, which we really liked—nothing was missing. Everything was super appreciative, and it was a fantastic evening. We felt like good friends from the very first minute. It's even worth traveling from Kassel or Erfurt—I'm so thrilled and glad we found you on our short trip to Fulda. The food is absolutely delicious! With a starter plate and a main course with a variety of options (both intended for two people), we were able to sample a wide variety of dishes for just two people. Yes, you eat with your hands (which is why a thin slice of bread is served with it) – but cutlery is also available if you prefer. This place was by far one the best experiences I've ever had and using my hands to eat at a restaurant was definitely a first for me. The atmosphere and decor was just gorgeous and the waitress we had was so friendly and welcoming. Now lets talk about the food! I honestly had no idea what to expect because I had never had authentic African food before but the flavours were beyond amazing and the different stews we got on our plate had different spices, heat levels and texture the meats in some of them were tender and the flatbreads were so good! Definitely recommend if you want a unique experience.

The dining room may be quite small and somewhat dark, but it's cozy. The food was excellent: tender chicken with fufu, Somali rice, and a deliciously aromatic peanut sauce. A highlight was the spectacular dry ice presentation for the main course. Those who like can eat with their hands in the traditional way – cutlery is available upon request. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and we felt completely at home. We particularly recommend the Luqiman (sweet dough balls with Nutella and coconut) and the Desert Flower cocktail. Be sure to make a reservation in advance!

I have to admit that I haven't been this impressed with a meal in a long time. It was really incredibly tasty and we tried everything on the menu. The chicken was nice and tender and definitely recommended. I particularly liked the rice - it had a flavor that I wasn't familiar with, but I really liked it. The service was also very friendly overall and explained everything well. But what I enjoyed most was eating with my hands (you can also use cutlery). It was something new, and even though you weren't used to it, you quickly got used to it. I will definitely go there again and highly recommend it to everyone. Thank you for the great experience!

We ate "Injera with Signi and all sauces" for two people and also ordered an extra portion of warm flatbread. The standard practice is to eat with your fingers, but you can also use cutlery if you wish. Of course there is also a sink in the restaurant room to wash your hands before and after eating 😉 The service was very courteous and instructed you in the special features of the restaurant, such as that no alcoholic drinks are served in the restaurant.

Good African cuisine and nice setting but bad commercial experience. Payment only in cash but this is only announced in small letters on the card in German. During the addition, by emptying all my small coins, I was missing 1€. They forced me at 10 p.m. to go look for an ATN on the other side of the city to bring them the 1€ coin. Really not commercial. I ordered fufu with chicken thighs and peanut sauce. Unfortunately, the food overall was very disappointing. The chicken leg was good, but the peanut sauce didn't taste good at all. The “fufu” was particularly disappointing – it was hard, crumbly and more reminiscent of pressed rice starch than real fufu. Overall the taste was very poor, especially considering the price. We were also offered bread on the phone, but without any indication of the price. In the end we charged €5.60 for two wraps, which is completely overpriced. Overall a very disappointing experience. I wouldn't order here again.

Ich habe Fufu mit Hähnchenkeule und Erdnusssoße bestellt. Leider war das Essen insgesamt sehr enttäuschend. Die Hähnchenkeule war zwar gut, aber die Erdnusssoße hat überhaupt nicht geschmeckt. Besonders enttäuschend war das “Fufu” – es war hart, bröckelig und erinnerte eher an gepresste Reisstärke als an richtiges Fufu. Geschmacklich insgesamt sehr mangelhaft, vor allem in Anbetracht des Preises. Zusätzlich wurde uns am Telefon ein Brot angeboten, allerdings ohne Hinweis auf den Preis. Am Ende wurden dafür 5,60 € berechnet – für zwei Wraps, was völlig überteuert ist. Insgesamt ein sehr enttäuschendes Erlebnis. Ich würde hier nicht noch einmal bestellen.
