Worthmühle in Goslar

We have been regular guests at the Worthmühle since 1999, visiting several times a year, and are always very satisfied. The atmosphere is unbeatable, and the food is delicious. The staff is always attentive and polite, even when things get busy. We think it's wonderful that the Worthmühle exists.

Dear Heike, dear Thomas, and dear staff, what we were able to experience with you over the last three days deserves a review. It started with the first dinner, where we celebrated OUR Thomas's birthday with a large group of friends. 🥳 The atmosphere among the eight people couldn't have been better with this rustic ambiance and the excellent food 👌. We also have Heike to thank for returning the following evening, because we absolutely had to meet such a hardworking and attentive hostess (always with a funny saying) again! This time, we were able to witness the unique scheduling of table reservations by phone and guests arriving at her counter, while drinks were being served and instructions were being given to the staff. APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE!!! This commitment, combined with such witty conversations and the delicious food, naturally made us want to return the following third evening... Unfortunately, we're back home today, but Heike at the Worthmühle will remain particularly memorable from our impressions of the Harz Mountains. With that in mind, warm greetings from Thomas and Christiane, as well as Günther and Birgit from Werder/Havel. 😘 (I think you remember us...) 😅

The atmosphere at the Worthmühle is truly lovely, and the restaurant has a lot of charm. The service was friendly, but could have been more attentive. The food tasted okay, but the portions were quite expensive—you almost consider ordering more to fill yourself up. Other guests also frequently commented that the price-performance ratio wasn't quite right. Overall, a nice restaurant to visit, but the food could still be improved.

Super delicious, very plentiful food and very friendly service.

The salad was poorly presented. The salad basically tasted like mustard. The ready-made vegetable salads (red cabbage, carrot, and bean) were very bland. The worst part was the sauce for the rump steak (the meat was medium-rare and wonderfully tender), which was over-contaminated with cloves. The fried potatoes were also nothing to write home about. No spices, herbs, or onions, and hardly any salt. The service deduction was for the cobwebs and dust in the dining room.

Quaint restaurant with a great menu. We were traveling with our dog. No problem! There was a quiet corner for us to sit in. The service was super friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

A very nice restaurant with a beer garden. With delicious food and drinks. I can wholeheartedly recommend it. And not to forget, great service.

Delicious food in atmospheric premises

Very good food and a great atmosphere. The waitress came frequently and asked if everything was tasty; everything was excellent. I can highly recommend it.

There were six of us there, and no one was happy with the food. It was consistently unseasoned, and the portions were quite small. Over €30 for a pork loin steak with fried potatoes and chanterelle mushrooms (without any sauce), and everything was completely unseasoned. Simply a shame, and very unloving. We ended up with a cappuccino with curdled milk to finish off the meal, but at least they didn't charge for it. Conclusion: A really great location, but the food was really underwhelming 👎

The food is simply too expensive for what you get

We had reserved for 7 p.m. on a Thursday. When we arrived, only a table for four was occupied. Our drinks and food came very quickly, and that was it. Although the restaurant was quiet, no one came to ask if we liked it or if we wanted something else to drink. I would have liked to complain about my meal, roast beef with onions and fried potatoes, because it was cold. My fried potatoes were so cold that I couldn't eat them at all, and the roast beef with onions and gravy was barely lukewarm. We sat there for an hour without anyone coming and then got up and went to the counter to pay. The waitresses were standing there talking to the counter staff. When my husband said we wanted to pay, they just asked whether we wanted to pay with cash or card; otherwise, not a word was said. I have never in my entire life been to a restaurant where guests were treated so badly. The food and service were a disaster; there is no excuse for that. It was the worst restaurant visit of our lives; we felt completely unwelcome and unnecessary.

The quality of the food was okay, but not outstanding, especially considering the prices. The service was very friendly and quick, and the terrace by the river was super cozy. Overall, the restaurant could use an update in terms of the presentation of the dishes and the interior to avoid appearing outdated.

A nice place to eat and there was nice staff

An absolute must-do when in Goslar! If you haven't eaten here, you're missing out. The food, service, and atmosphere are fantastic; I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Parking wasn't a problem, there are plenty of options nearby, and a short walk through the town completes this culinary experience.

Quaint restaurant, but I expected more flavor from the food for the price. I found the plates too full; you're practically full just by the time you see the plate. Sometimes less is more.

Very cute restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy. The food was acceptable at best but there was still a lot of room for improvement. The plates were nicely presented but the sauce was tasteless. I think the prices are too high for the quality.

This is the 4th or 5th time I've been here and I like the food. The game dishes like venison or wild boar snails are always very good to me

I got Jagdteller Hubertus, the venison was tough and overcooked and seemed to have been heated (in a microwave), the half piece of duck breast I got had also had a trip in the microwave, but not for so long that it had become hot, on the other hand it was overcooked and dry. The side dishes were also miserable, the red cabbage had been heated so long/so many times that it was almost mush, the potato dumpling, like the meat, had been microwaved and was like rubber, and tasted terrible, finally there was a refrigerator-cold half-can of pears with a dollop of cold cranberry jam as well. The beer was excellent though. My wife herself reviewed her part of the meal (wienerschnitzel), so I will just write that it certainly did not live up to expectations either.

How wonderful that we found this great, rustic and individual restaurant and were able to celebrate our wedding there! Starting with the loving atmosphere, very good food and really great staff and service - it was simply perfect and an all-round feel-good evening! Highly recommended! The atmosphere is very rustic without appearing musty. No witch dust collectors, as is often the case in the Harz Mountains. Everything is very stylishly furnished. The toilets are clean and relatively modern. The menu is clear and offers enough variety (is also available online). The service was very friendly and quick. Drinks came quickly. The food came after about 15-20 minutes. I had the Hubertus hunting plate. The portion size was good. I could do anything. The plate was neatly arranged, the red cabbage came in an extra bowl. The taste of the food was rather average. I've had more interesting game sauce. The menu also says "with different sauces", but only one was served on the plate. Red cabbage and dumplings were good. Criticism: The meat (deer, wild boar, duck) was completely cooked through and therefore a bit dry and tough. The duck was at the limit. I've eaten better than that. Prices: Far too expensive for the quality offered.

Life saver! We were on a business trip in February with a stop in beautiful Goslar. We arrived late and first enjoyed a Gose at the brewery. Their kitchen was already closed. The kitchens in the other inns did as well, so we were desperately looking for something to eat. The lovely owners took pity on us, warmed the pans again and conjured up a great meal for us. Thank you for your efforts. We really enjoyed the meal with the table by the stream!

Disappointing visit to the restaurant - far too expensive for the quality Unfortunately, our visit to the Wortmühle in Goslar was a bitter disappointment. The trouble began as soon as we sat down: the space was so cramped that other guests had to move their tables so that we could even sit. The food was the next low point. The duck with red cabbage and dumplings was a complete disappointment - tough, cold, and the crust, which was described as crispy, was anything but. For the price, a disgrace. The Wiener-style schnitzel was not only very small, but also tough and in no way worth the €31 that was charged for it. Despite our legitimate complaint, there was no accommodation or price reduction. We're really shocked by this experience - it was by far the worst restaurant visit we've ever had. We definitely won't be coming back here!

A charming and cozy restaurant with friendly service. Food and drinks are extremely delicious.

Reservation was not necessary. We really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it with children. Authentic Harz cuisine with really regional ingredients, you can taste it. As a Goslar resident you really enjoy going there again. The rum from the Harzer Hammerschmiede really makes our evening complete.

Despite very short-term demand, we even got 2 places on New Year's Eve. The service was more than OK, the food (Hubertu plate and resin chunks) was very tasty and sufficient. We would be happy to come back if we were in the Harz.

Quite inconspicuous from the outside, but quaint and cozy inside! The food tastes great and the portion size is more than enough 👍🏻! Despite the Christmas stress, the service was always friendly and attentive, the 40 minute wait for the food was absolutely fine given the number of guests this evening! If you want to eat before 8 p.m., you should definitely make a reservation, which can easily be done online!

Location and ambience very good. Eating a lot, too much for us, but good. We ate different dishes. We don't allow ourselves to make any judgments, as we have experienced many times that tastes are very different.

Absolutely rustic inn with a cozy atmosphere. The service was very nice and accommodating. The food was delicious, but we were hoping for a little more for the relatively high price. The Wiener Schnitzel was OK, the portions could have been larger. The beers on tap should be highlighted, both the light and the dark ones were really good. One star deducted for the rather high prices without any real added value in terms of quality.

You definitely have to pre-order here. I also thought that it would be possible on my own and a little earlier. But far from it. The super friendly service prepared a small table especially for me in the corner and I was able to sit down. The decor is totally quaint. Simply wonderful. The menu was relatively clear but there was something for everyone. The prices are higher. For me personally, the portion size in the form of a schnitzel with fried potatoes was a bit too small. I then ordered a small mixed salad. But I was absolutely thrilled. A successful evening.

We had the most expensive dish, a game dish with 3 different types of meat. Meat was dry, tough and with sinews. The red cabbage was over-cooked and the potato balls were so sticky that we left them alone. Not recommended!

A really quaint restaurant with unfortunately loud background noise because it was very full. The service was very positive, the employees were very attentive. It's nice that the meat comes from the region. In principle we enjoyed the food very much, but it was a bit carelessly presented on the plates. The rather expensive dishes could have used a larger quantity of at least the side dish and salad. What was disappointing was that when ordering the rump steak, the desired degree of doneness was not asked and it was served raw on the inside. Not an option for me: I asked for it to be fried so that it was almost done on the inside, but still a little pink on the inside. Unfortunately that didn't work, the meat came back fried to death. Overall positive, but we probably wouldn't come back.

I had a meal there today and ate a schnitzel with cream mushrooms and fried potatoes. It was really a dream. You could see straight away that everything was homemade and not from a can or deep fryer I can only recommend it

Quaint authentic restaurant in a cozy atmosphere

The restaurant was recommended to us, but by the previous owner. The meat comes from the environment. What should we say? The food was perfect. My husband had the onion roast and I had the Hubertus plate. Very very tasty. 10 points for the food. The service was a bit spotty at the beginning, we thought we were forgotten. The restaurant is a bit winding and narrow. But then it got noticeably better. The food made it up to me. You are willing to pay a little more for such quality.

Very nice atmosphere in the old town of Goslar. However, the quality of the food is below average. Example: Viennese schnitzel with fried potatoes: schnitzel approx. 4-5 mm thin, at least 2 pieces, which only look like real schnitzel thanks to the breading. Fried potato lukewarm and very fatty. Multilingual menu. Probably intended for tourists who only come once.

Interesting atmosphere, food and service good!

We were ashamed in front of our guests! Yes, the restaurant was full and things can go wrong, but the evening topped everything. The first round of drinks came quickly, food was eaten and then forgotten! So everything all over again, and at the same time I ordered a drink, which never arrived! We then tried twice more, but we didn't get anything. We had to ask for the bill 3 times and then there was a drink on it that never arrived! Food so-so, but expensive! Conclusion, never again!!

The reason for my visit was the good rating and the rum steak from Harzer Weidevieh cattle listed on the online menu. When we arrived at the restaurant, the prices were significantly increased, and Harz grazing cattle became Argentine beef. That's all well and good, but after 50 minutes of waiting for the food we had to place the order again because, according to the waiter, the person who gave the order was only there for a short time and probably didn't pass on the order. Strangely enough, 20 minutes later he brought us our food. The four drinks ordered when the food arrived never arrived, however one of the drinks that was not delivered was on the bill. As for the bill: after the first payment request we waited 30 minutes. At the second request at the counter we had to wait another 15 minutes until we finally got the bill at the third request. Unfortunately, no apology was given, nor were we treated with kindness or goodwill throughout our stay. Sure, everyone can have a bad day, but when the entire service staff is neither friendly nor apologetic for the long wait and instead comes up with an excuse that is quickly refuted, you can only be happy that you only gave one star can. I'd rather not start talking about the food. All in all it was a disappointing experience.

You can't sugarcoat anything here! Expensive prices, standard food (salad very poor, onion roast not medium rare, but rather raw) and the service: where should you start? Food, drinks and receipts were forgotten several times, staff were completely overwhelmed, unfriendly and unreasonable, no one apologized for the mistakes, etc. Even 1 star is still generous, but unfortunately Google won't allow anything less. Never again!

During a spontaneous shopping trip through the old town of Goslar we discovered the Worthmühle restaurant - an absolute stroke of luck! The rustic ambience is cozy and inviting. The food made from regional products was excellent and lovingly prepared. A real insider tip for everyone who wants to enjoy fresh, regional cuisine in an authentic atmosphere!

My brawn with fried potatoes was convincingly good, but the portion size was a bit small. I don't know why you don't do something more so that the customer is happy and will definitely come back. Overall, it was a success and okay for a restaurant in the city center.

WE in the beautiful city of Goslar, discovered Wortmühle on the 2nd evening. Price level above the beer house on the market (which is also very nice). Food was good, but the price calculation is not understandable. I ate cordon bleu for €24. There you have a piece of meat, some sauce and a generous tablespoon of fried potatoes. Nothing with a salad garnish or anything exciting to the eye, so ordered a small salad plate for €7. My companion took duck breast with red cabbage etc for €24, which included the same salad. Apparently the duck must come from husbandry class 1. For me this is incomprehensible. My disappointment was visible, especially since the salad only had 20% freshness.

We got 2 wiener schnitzels. The potatoes were pan fried and good. The Wiener schnitzels were deep-fried and the breading fell off when you poked your fork into the tough meat. When we got the bill we were somewhat surprised by the towering prices of drinks. 7.80 euros for a bottle of water and 5.90 euros for a coke. Absurd! Not a place we will return to. Praise that children get children's cutlery.

We celebrated our wedding there with 24 people in the beautiful beer garden and it was perfect. Without exception, everyone enjoyed it, the staff were attentive, friendly and flexible and the atmosphere was very nice. I recommend the Worthmühle 100%

Very nice, rustic pub. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Goslar. The staff is quick and friendly. The beer tastes excellent. We didn't eat, but what we saw looked very appealing. I will gladly come again.
