Wonderful place. Our food was forgotten and the beer was a bit too warm, but the charm and schnapps afterward made up for it. We'll be back.

There were nine of us at this cool location before our visit to Chess! The barn was probably built by a Swede during World War I... Three generations were served by Alex - and we felt incredibly comfortable with him! You could almost believe he owns the restaurant! We need employees like him! He's in the right place and works with a lot of passion and joy (I hope the boss appreciates it). The food was super delicious - big compliments to the kitchen too. We'll be happy to come back...maybe for my mother-in-law's 90th birthday!!

The Cordon Bleu and the Spätzle were great and the service was incredibly friendly!

We met here as colleagues. The food was decent and really tasty. Unfortunately, the service was seriously lacking. The young man was quite friendly. The young lady, on the other hand, seemed completely uninterested in guests. "What would you like to eat?" with a bored look, no response after ordering. Even afterward, she just asked, "Drink?" She simply wasn't in the mood. The food was simply cleared away without comment, and she didn't even ask if we were ready. Service staff is hard to find, but that simply doesn't have to be the case. She shows that she can be different in private conversations with colleagues or people who passed by and whom she probably knew. You should perhaps make sure you sit at the young man's table.

After taking our order, the drinks were served promptly. The pancake soup and side salad also arrived promptly. The roast beef with onions and schnitzel, along with the spaetzle and fried potatoes, were a delight. The only thing that's a bit steep is the price: just under €35 for the roast beef and €25 for the schnitzel. But taste and quality have their price.

It has been some time since my spouse and I have frequent this restaurant. With memories of an outstanding atmosphere, service, and fantastic food, we sought out this restaurant for lunch. Instead of an outstanding atmosphere, service, and a delicious meal, we were greeted with lackluster service and a feeling of not being wanted. The only savings grace was a partially decent meal. This will never frequent this restaurant again.

A great ambiance, quite acceptable even outside. The food: unfortunately, very disappointing. Last week I had a "portion of asparagus (approx. 230g-250g raw weight) with potatoes and noodles, melted butter or hollandaise sauce." Unfortunately, the asparagus was harder than al dente and completely flavorless; I've never been served such bad asparagus. Even when I went to the bathroom later, there was no typical asparagus smell, which is a shame.

The service was excellent despite the restaurant being packed. Thank you very much. I enjoyed it, but it was a bit noisy.

We were in Stuttgart for business and, of course, wanted some Swabian food. The restaurant is cozy and rustic, spread over several floors. The young team is super friendly and attentive. Due to its proximity to the trade fair and airport, it naturally attracts a lot of tourists and travelers, so reservations are advisable. The food was delicious and authentic, and the portions were generous. Unfortunately, I forgot to take any photos—the Maultaschen (sausages) smelled too good 😜

I can only recommend it. You have to reserve seats, things are going so well.

A good friend and I met here in this beautiful and lovingly furnished restaurant to spend a nice evening. Since I had already had dinner, I was more interested in a cold draft beer. My friend, however, was hungry and was looking forward to one of the home-style dishes on the menu. Unfortunately we were treated very unkindly by the landlord or owner with the words “Nothing to eat is not possible! This is a restaurant. If you want something to drink, go to a bar!” I would have happily spent the value of a meal on several drinks and my friend wanted to order one of the higher-priced main courses and would definitely have had several drinks with me afterwards in a cozy atmosphere. It's a shame that this is no longer possible here! The current landlord seems to be able to choose his guests in a very unfriendly manner. This is hospitality that I can happily do without and will do in this restaurant in the future! I understand that more sales can be achieved with food, which is ultimately important for the company's existence, but sensitivity and investment in guests who come back afterwards or even recommend the restaurant with good memories are at least as important!

My girlfriend took me here. The Swabian food was incredibly delicious. I had the turkey strips with vegetables and croquettes. The ambience is also great, as it seems a bit clocky and the tables are spread over different floors. Really highly recommended.

Hello everyone I would like to give a mega review: Firstly, we had reserved and were 3/4 hours late, but the place was still kept free for us! The food is great and the atmosphere is just like you would imagine a German restaurant to be. The prices are fair to the times. Personal hammer The boss as you imagine him! I was treated as if I had been there several times. We were visitors to the CMt for the first time I'd love to come back

We went to Schwedenscheuer as a team for the first time and it was really good and tasty. Unfortunately, it took a while after the order was accepted because there was apparently something wrong with the receipts. We had the table at 7:30 p.m. and had our food at 8:30 p.m. Cozy atmosphere, but when it's full it's very loud and cramped. A drawback for me is that when we left the restaurant, our hair and clothes smelled of food. Otherwise highly recommended, especially the cheese spaetzle.

An extremely cozy place for a hangout with friends and colleagues. The service is excellent! We were a group of 20 people. They were very attentive with our preferences and dietary restrictions and the food came in quite promptly. The place is very accomodating...they even join the tables if required. And the food is yummm! We ordered surf n turf, BBQ beef burger, meat steak and linsel mit spätzle...every dish had nothing but great reviews!

I always enjoyed staying with you, but I think this was my last reservation. After making a reservation online for 2 people, I received an email saying that in the event of cancellation, a seat loss of 45 euros per person would be charged. Sorry, but is it still okay? Someone can always get sick and a reservation for two people certainly won't ruin the inn if it has to be canceled for personal reasons.

We were there spontaneously for lunch and were immediately given a table and the food and drink menus. The waiter was very nice and came back quickly to take the order. My companion's cheese spaetzle was great, with delicious melted onions on top, and the side salad with a delicious dressing, especially the potato salad, was delicious. My vegetarian cheeseburger with fries and coleslaw salad was very tasty and filled me up well. We were very satisfied! Prices were also reasonable.

Our road trip in the '74 VW T2 bus was like a little sauna on wheels - 35 degrees outside, over 40 degrees in the bus, and then there was a traffic jam on the highway. You might think the adventure ends there, but no, it just got better! We had decided not to eat just any food, but something really Swabian. Then we stumbled across the restaurant “Zur Schwedenscheuer” on Google and thought to ourselves: “That sounds so quaint, we have to go there!” We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and were allowed to choose a table. The onion roast roast then arrived and I thought to myself: “Can meat be so tender? Or did the heat evaporate my mind?” But no, it was just amazingly good. The fried potatoes were perfectly crispy and the large mixed salad with Maultaschen was so huge that we briefly wondered whether we would still fit in our bus afterwards. And then the service: fast, friendly and with a sense of humor that almost made the non-alcoholic beer squirt out of our mouths. I was seriously thinking about ending the road trip here and simply ending the trip in the Schwedenscheuer. Conclusion: “Wirtshaus zur Schwedenscheuer” is not just a restaurant, but a rescue for stressed-out road trip adventurers. If you don't stop here, you're missing out on a piece of Swabian happiness on your plate. All that's left to say is: surprisingly good 😉

The inn is in a good location and is easy to find. It is comfortably furnished and you can also sit outside here. The food was very good and the portions were impressive. The staff was very friendly and we will definitely see each other again.

The atmosphere is good and authentic and the people are really friendly. Unfortunately, the food was not that good. It wasn't bad but not special either. The Asparagus was rather tasteless, particularly as the Hollandaise sauce didn't have enough taste. Fish was grilled well and was tasty.

2 Besuche und garantiert KEIN dritter. Beim 1. Besuch war die Karte nicht sehr kreativ oder pfiffig, das Essen durchschnittlich gekocht und eher als teuer zu bezeichnen. Das einzige eher positive ist das rustikale Ambiente. Aber dann war es das schon auch mit dem Guten. Beim 2.Mal nach schriftlicher Reservierung und unserem Erscheinen (diesmal mit Hund) Aussage Wirt/Bedienung: "Hunde haben hier keinen Zutritt". Darauf hingewiesen, dass weder auf der Internetseite, noch in der Reservierungsbestätigung ein Hinweis enthalten ist, dass Hunde nicht erwünscht sind, war die Antwort "wir haben nichts falsch gemacht. Sie hätten den Hund uns melden müssen. Ihr Fehler". Natürlich hat jeder Wirt das Recht darüber zu entscheiden, ob er Hunde zulässt oder nicht. Aber zur Wahrheit gehört halt auch, dass ein ordentlicher Betrieb seine Gäste VORHER darauf hinweist, dass er keine Hunde im Lokal sehen will und dies in der Bestätigung oder den (hier nicht vorhandenen AGB) aufführt. Zudem, was das Lokal nicht vergessen hat in der Reservierungsbestätigung, ist der Hinweis, dass bei Abbestellung der Reservierung am gleichen Tag (und nicht nur bei Nichterscheinen) 45 Euro pro Person in Rechnung gestellt werden. Auch das erfährt man nicht auf dem Reservierungsformular, sondern erst hinterher. Eine für mich völlig überzogene und nicht angemessene Forderung. Offener und ehrlicher Umgang mit Gästen sieht definitiv anders aus. Zudem verkennt man hier, dass der äußerst geringe Anteil von Lokalen, die keine Hunde zulassen, dies fast ausnahmslos ihren Gästen schon vorher mitteilen. Bei allem Verständnis für die Gastronomie: dieser Betrieb ist mir keinen Besuch mehr wert. Da wir ja mit Hund nicht bleiben konnten, sind wir auf die andere Straßenseite gewechselt, haben dort im "Hirsch" mit guten Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis und freundlicher Bedienung gegessen. Und der Hund war auch willkommen.

During my visit, I was able to taste the Maultaschen lasagna as an exquisitely created starter that pampered my palate with a harmonious fusion of flavors. For the main course I chose the classic schnitzel with fries, which impressed not only with its excellent preparation, but also with its appropriately sized portion and the exquisite quality of the regional ingredients. Lovers of beers served in 0.3 l glasses will also get their money's worth here. The staff proved to be extremely courteous, knowledgeable and attentive, which further rounded off the gastronomic experience. Finally, the Wirtshaus zur Schwedenscheuer remains a place of culinary excellence and warm hospitality, which I am happy to recommend and will definitely visit again for a chilled beer or two.

I gave this review a long time ago. But she disappeared. The restaurant probably pays to only show reviews that they like. It is important to me that guests, future visitors, can read my statement. And so I'll try it again, word for word, as I originally wrote it: I was in this restaurant last week, exactly on June 23rd, 2022. I still know the Schwedenscheuer from the time when I lived in Echterdingen. That was long ago. And now after Corona a lot has changed. I wanted to try out the place before I went there with friends and with my 'cultural group' of 10/12 people and the whole group made long faces. Luckily I was there beforehand. The food was delicious. No complaints at all. 4-5 stars for that (there's always room for improvement), it was really good. But the service was the last thing. I can't remember ever being treated so rudely and arrogantly. 1 star for that. I would rather give it -4 if it were possible. And I definitely have to mention: a young man who gave me the impression that he was still new. He worked in the house and was not responsible for me in the beer garden, unfortunately. Maybe just divided up at the bar. This person was friendly and accommodating. The weather was hot, so I chose a salad from the daily menu, written on a board on the side of the road: Salad plate with watermelon and bread. At first I wasn't noticed at all. Because at the next table there was joking and teasing with 3 obviously well-known customers/friends. After some time I was served. The salad plate we ordered came quickly. I asked if I could still get bread. That costs extra and I was hit quite rudely. Well then, no issue. I asked the big, burly man if he could check the board down the street. I remembered the dish marked with bread, but I was also unsure. It was displayed with bread. It was explained to me: the salad is usually with melon and feta. And he can no longer ask for the (extra) feta back. I had eaten the salad by now. At the end, when I came back to my table from the toilet, the bill was already on the table. Both of my cold drinks were charged more expensive than what was written on the board in the beer garden. There was no sign of the boss or the unfriendly service. The friendly young man had already left. I waited, waited and waited. Nobody came to cash. I then put the money on the table with the bill and left. There were no tips for these insolence.

It's a shame, I've never been "served" so stupidly and unfriendly before? When I asked, the staff gave me a table for two people - then the so-called boss called me a dozen and explained very harshly that he probably needed the table and that his staff had mistakenly given it to us and that I had better leave. “Top service” embarrassing and embarrassing! Therefore service 0 stars. I can't judge the rest, but the arrogance can!

We were there last week - unfortunately the quality of the food has deteriorated somewhat compared to our last visits in 2022. Aperol Spritz with a plastic straw is really no longer necessary these days. It was very crowded, so of course there was a corresponding noise level on the lower floor. But totally suitable for groups.

Great ambience, great service and good food. If you want to spend a nice evening in a beautiful atmosphere, this is the right place for you. The dishes were all good. The roast was of great quality and well prepared. The sour kidneys with fried potatoes were good but there was room for improvement. We would definitely like to come back.
