Half-timbered visually beautiful Food ok. Food could be more creative, more piquant and taste less ordinary. Too bad. The restaurant was quite full and a very young guy served around 40 guests upstairs on our floor. It's all ok. The restaurant lacks the creativity and passion that the half-timbered house exudes. Too bad You should work on that.

We were there spontaneously for lunch and were immediately given a table and the food and drink menus. The waiter was very nice and came back quickly to take the order. My companion's cheese spaetzle was great, with delicious melted onions on top, and the side salad with a delicious dressing, especially the potato salad, was delicious. My vegetarian cheeseburger with fries and coleslaw salad was very tasty and filled me up well. We were very satisfied! Prices were also reasonable.

Our road trip in the '74 VW T2 bus was like a little sauna on wheels - 35 degrees outside, over 40 degrees in the bus, and then there was a traffic jam on the highway. You might think the adventure ends there, but no, it just got better! We had decided not to eat just any food, but something really Swabian. Then we stumbled across the restaurant “Zur Schwedenscheuer” on Google and thought to ourselves: “That sounds so quaint, we have to go there!” We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and were allowed to choose a table. The onion roast roast then arrived and I thought to myself: “Can meat be so tender? Or did the heat evaporate my mind?” But no, it was just amazingly good. The fried potatoes were perfectly crispy and the large mixed salad with Maultaschen was so huge that we briefly wondered whether we would still fit in our bus afterwards. And then the service: fast, friendly and with a sense of humor that almost made the non-alcoholic beer squirt out of our mouths. I was seriously thinking about ending the road trip here and simply ending the trip in the Schwedenscheuer. Conclusion: “Wirtshaus zur Schwedenscheuer” is not just a restaurant, but a rescue for stressed-out road trip adventurers. If you don't stop here, you're missing out on a piece of Swabian happiness on your plate. All that's left to say is: surprisingly good 😉

The inn is in a good location and is easy to find. It is comfortably furnished and you can also sit outside here. The food was very good and the portions were impressive. The staff was very friendly and we will definitely see each other again.

The atmosphere is good and authentic and the people are really friendly. Unfortunately, the food was not that good. It wasn't bad but not special either. The Asparagus was rather tasteless, particularly as the Hollandaise sauce didn't have enough taste. Fish was grilled well and was tasty.

2 Besuche und garantiert KEIN dritter. Beim 1. Besuch war die Karte nicht sehr kreativ oder pfiffig, das Essen durchschnittlich gekocht und eher als teuer zu bezeichnen. Das einzige eher positive ist das rustikale Ambiente. Aber dann war es das schon auch mit dem Guten. Beim 2.Mal nach schriftlicher Reservierung und unserem Erscheinen (diesmal mit Hund) Aussage Wirt/Bedienung: "Hunde haben hier keinen Zutritt". Darauf hingewiesen, dass weder auf der Internetseite, noch in der Reservierungsbestätigung ein Hinweis enthalten ist, dass Hunde nicht erwünscht sind, war die Antwort "wir haben nichts falsch gemacht. Sie hätten den Hund uns melden müssen. Ihr Fehler". Natürlich hat jeder Wirt das Recht darüber zu entscheiden, ob er Hunde zulässt oder nicht. Aber zur Wahrheit gehört halt auch, dass ein ordentlicher Betrieb seine Gäste VORHER darauf hinweist, dass er keine Hunde im Lokal sehen will und dies in der Bestätigung oder den (hier nicht vorhandenen AGB) aufführt. Zudem, was das Lokal nicht vergessen hat in der Reservierungsbestätigung, ist der Hinweis, dass bei Abbestellung der Reservierung am gleichen Tag (und nicht nur bei Nichterscheinen) 45 Euro pro Person in Rechnung gestellt werden. Auch das erfährt man nicht auf dem Reservierungsformular, sondern erst hinterher. Eine für mich völlig überzogene und nicht angemessene Forderung. Offener und ehrlicher Umgang mit Gästen sieht definitiv anders aus. Zudem verkennt man hier, dass der äußerst geringe Anteil von Lokalen, die keine Hunde zulassen, dies fast ausnahmslos ihren Gästen schon vorher mitteilen. Bei allem Verständnis für die Gastronomie: dieser Betrieb ist mir keinen Besuch mehr wert. Da wir ja mit Hund nicht bleiben konnten, sind wir auf die andere Straßenseite gewechselt, haben dort im "Hirsch" mit guten Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis und freundlicher Bedienung gegessen. Und der Hund war auch willkommen.

During my visit, I was able to taste the Maultaschen lasagna as an exquisitely created starter that pampered my palate with a harmonious fusion of flavors. For the main course I chose the classic schnitzel with fries, which impressed not only with its excellent preparation, but also with its appropriately sized portion and the exquisite quality of the regional ingredients. Lovers of beers served in 0.3 l glasses will also get their money's worth here. The staff proved to be extremely courteous, knowledgeable and attentive, which further rounded off the gastronomic experience. Finally, the Wirtshaus zur Schwedenscheuer remains a place of culinary excellence and warm hospitality, which I am happy to recommend and will definitely visit again for a chilled beer or two.

I gave this review a long time ago. But she disappeared. The restaurant probably pays to only show reviews that they like. It is important to me that guests, future visitors, can read my statement. And so I'll try it again, word for word, as I originally wrote it: I was in this restaurant last week, exactly on June 23rd, 2022. I still know the Schwedenscheuer from the time when I lived in Echterdingen. That was long ago. And now after Corona a lot has changed. I wanted to try out the place before I went there with friends and with my 'cultural group' of 10/12 people and the whole group made long faces. Luckily I was there beforehand. The food was delicious. No complaints at all. 4-5 stars for that (there's always room for improvement), it was really good. But the service was the last thing. I can't remember ever being treated so rudely and arrogantly. 1 star for that. I would rather give it -4 if it were possible. And I definitely have to mention: a young man who gave me the impression that he was still new. He worked in the house and was not responsible for me in the beer garden, unfortunately. Maybe just divided up at the bar. This person was friendly and accommodating. The weather was hot, so I chose a salad from the daily menu, written on a board on the side of the road: Salad plate with watermelon and bread. At first I wasn't noticed at all. Because at the next table there was joking and teasing with 3 obviously well-known customers/friends. After some time I was served. The salad plate we ordered came quickly. I asked if I could still get bread. That costs extra and I was hit quite rudely. Well then, no issue. I asked the big, burly man if he could check the board down the street. I remembered the dish marked with bread, but I was also unsure. It was displayed with bread. It was explained to me: the salad is usually with melon and feta. And he can no longer ask for the (extra) feta back. I had eaten the salad by now. At the end, when I came back to my table from the toilet, the bill was already on the table. Both of my cold drinks were charged more expensive than what was written on the board in the beer garden. There was no sign of the boss or the unfriendly service. The friendly young man had already left. I waited, waited and waited. Nobody came to cash. I then put the money on the table with the bill and left. There were no tips for these insolence.

When I asked, the staff gave me a table for two people - then the so-called boss called me a dozen and explained very harshly that he probably needed the table and that his staff had mistakenly given it to us and that I had better leave. “Top service” embarrassing and embarrassing! We were there last week - unfortunately the quality of the food has deteriorated somewhat compared to our last visits in 2022. Aperol Spritz with a plastic straw is really no longer necessary these days. It was very crowded, so of course there was a corresponding noise level on the lower floor. But totally suitable for groups.

Food is great. However, when we wanted to pay with a voucher that we received for our wedding, we were told that it must be a fake. Both the envelope, voucher and stamp were from the restaurant, but were missing a signature and a number that is normally entered by the person issuing the voucher. We would have ordered the voucher online and copied the stamp. I can understand why such a voucher cannot be accepted. However, it is a failure of the restaurant to issue the voucher completely filled out. This little fun cost us over €100. Food was still great.

Wo wir beim Thema sind, Suppe lauwarm, lieblos. Essen naja. Frische fehl am Platz. Preise unverschämt. Soßen nicht selbstgemacht. Fischfilet nicht besser als auf der Kirmes. Nicht zu empfehlen 😡

Uriges Lokal mit rustikaler Ausstattung. Sehr hübsch eingerichtet. Sehr gutes Essen und nette Bedienung. Preise noch moderat und nette sehr aufmerksame Bedienung. Hier komme ich gerne wieder vorbei.

Kässpätzle sind Fertignudeln angebraten mit ein bisschen Käse und Zwiebelschmelz. Beim Salat war der Karottensalat vergoren. Kellner hat es beim Geruchstest bestätigt zur, aber keine Entschuldigung oder Sonstiges. Essen für die Qualität viel zu teuer. Preise sehr gehoben, essen aber nicht.

Das Lokal ist urig und sehr gemütlich. Das Personal war unglsublich aufmerksam und schnell ebenso die Küche. Die Leberspatzenspuppe ist phantastisch und auch die anderen Speisen waren sehr lecker. Jederzeit wieder!

Wir waren etwas spät zum Mittagessen, was man uns auch spüren ließ. Sehr schönes urigen Haus mit liebevoller Einrichtung. Die Preise sind eher im höheren Segment ,was für die gebotene Qualität der Speisen nicht gerechtfertigt ist. Die frischen Blattsalate bei den großen Salattellern werden mit Karottensalat und Kartoffelsalat aus dem Eimer unterfüttert. Da ein Gast an unserem Tisch nicht so viel Hunger hatte, bat er um ein Schnitzel mit Brot statt mit Pommes. Er bekam ein nackten Teller mit einem Schnitzel ohne Garnitur oder ähnliches, dazu ein bisschen Brot in einem Brotkorb für den vollen Preis von 18.00€ . Wir kommen nicht wieder!

Sehr rustikal gehaltenes Gasthaus das augenscheinlich familiengeführt ist. Eingang ein bisschen versteckt. Sehr freundlicher Empfang, kleine und feine regionale Speisekarte. Ich hatte den Linsenteller, Portion sehr üppig und das Essen hervorragend. Genauso hat das bei meiner Oma geschmeckt. Meine Frau hatte Käsespätzle. Auch hier die Portion sehr groß. Geschmacklich auch hervorragend. Die Spätzle handgemacht, sp wie es sein soll Man fühlte sich nicht als Gast eher als Freund. Rundum zufrieden und satt traten wir den Heimweg am Wenn wir wieder im der Nähe sind wird dies das Gast unserer Wahl sein.

Essen klasse, Bedienung sehr gut - war ein schöner Abend - Update: die Qualität des Essens hat abgenommen, dafür die Preise zugenommen. Immer noch empfehlenswert, aber das gewisse Etwas hat diesmal gefehlt.

Built on the interior wood platforms of a stone barn, the Schwedenscheuer is a must-stop location for visiting the Stuttgart area. The town of Echterdingen is compact and quaint, and once a filderstadt, so it has lots of 16th century barns -- but the restaurant in this one is hard to beat. Classic German/Swabian fare, attentively prepared and tasty. A great place for group dinners or romantic duos.

In the heart of Echterdingen off the main road. Great staff and English menu if you need it. Traditional German food. Very limited but enough choices on the menu. We each had a main 61 and 43 (don’t remember the names). Both very rich and delicious. See pictures below. You can sit out or in. Recommend a reservation.

Our friends had arrived from the US just hours before dinner. This restaurant was recommended by another restauranteur in the community and did not disappoint! (Reservations are highly recommended.) This is exactly the first impression you want guests to have! We were immediately welcomed into this small, historic space by multiple employees. Our traditional German meals were deliciously satisfying. Of course the slow pace allowed us to enjoy our conversation, a few beverages, and a lot of laughs. Enjoy!
