Super leckeres Essen. Flexibel auch bei Sonderwünschen. Das Personal ist sehr höflich und schnell. Regionale Küche vom Feinsten. Unbedingt vorher reservieren !

Schöne, rustikale Gaststätte, preislich etwas gehoben, geschmacklich sehr gut, die Portionen könnten für den Preis etwas größer sein, netter Service, Parkplätze sind rund uns Haus vorhanden

Ein Zufallsfund und alles in allem super! Leckeres Essen aus der Region, Service sehr zuvorkommend und fix, trotz vollen Tischen Das Ambiente ist urig gemütlich, Gerne wieder!

Waren heute gegen 17:00 Uhr ohne Reservierung zu dritt im "Alten Sack" essen. Die Beratung über die regionalen Spezialitäten war sehr gut. Wir haben uns dafür entschieden und waren begeistert. Das Enkelkind hatte hausgemachte Fischstäbchen, die ihrer Bezeichnung alle Ehre gemacht haben. Wirklich alles sehr lecker. Ambiente ist super, alles passt zusammen. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Obwohl mitten in der Woche Tische frei waren, wurden ich und meine drei Teenager gebeten zu gehen, mit der Begründung, die Küche sei unterbesetzt.

An Alle die es noch nicht wussten, die Küche schließt um 20:30 Uhr. Für meinen Geschmack zu zeitig.

Gutes Lokal saßen aber draussen

Wir waren mit dem gesamten Abendessen zufrieden.

Sehr gutes Essen und freundlicher Service. Auch in Bezug auf die Preise kann man sich nicht beschweren, da sind wir von zu Hause anderes gewöhnt. Ich kann den "Alten Sack" wirklich empfehlen.

Obwohl wir keine Reservierung hatten wurde sich sehr bemüht uns einen freien Tisch zu besorgen.Das Gasthaus ist urig eingerichtet und wirklich alle vom Personal sind extrem freundlich,da fühlt man sich wohl. Essen war sehr lecker,klare Empfehlung.

Klasse Location, schönes einzigartiges Ambiente, dazu schön unterteilt. Tolle Speisenkarte, aufmerksamer, ungezwungener und humorvoller Service. Die Speisen waren lecker und ordentlich.

Guter Service, muscheliges Ambiente. Beim Essen werden Gewürze sehr sparsam verwendet.

Ich rief gegen 19 Uhr an und fragte, ob es okay sei, wenn ich erst 20:30 Uhr vorbei komme. Man sagte mir, das sei zu spät. Also bestellte ich und wir einigten uns auf eine Abholung um 20:30 Uhr. Im Lokal angekommen, sehe ich dass andere Gäste erst beim studieren der Speisekarte sind. Warum war es bei denen möglich so spät im Hause zu essen und bei mir nicht? Außerdem ist die Transportverpackung leider mangelhaft. Mir ist ein Großteil des Essens ausgelaufen. Glücklicherweise lediglich in die Plastikfolie. Konnte zu Hause also alles in eine Schüssel umfüllen. Aber appetlich sah das ganze nun natürlich nicht mehr aus.

Ein rundum gelungener Besuch! Das Ambiente ist sehr schön und lädt zum Wohlfühlen ein. Das Essen war hervorragend – frisch, lecker und liebevoll zubereitet. Auch der Service war freundlich, aufmerksam und herzlich. Diese Gaststätte kann man uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Ach Schade...wenn der Koch nicht gerade heute krank war...ja dann weiß ich auch nicht. Leider entsprechen die Bilder nicht den Gerichten die serviert wurden. Handwerklich und Geschmacklich war auch nicht viel los. Die Garnitur kam aus der Konserve, was man direkt schmeckte. Es ist Spargelzeit...es gibt demnach eine Spargelkarte...auch hier Schade..der Spargel war zerkocht und wurde mit Käse überbacken...Salz war an vielen Sachen leider nicht dran. Wirklich Schade..hat viel Potenzial. Der Service tat sein bestes und war bemüht..deswegen die 4* Hoffentlich war der Koch wirklich nur krank heut.

Ein gastronomisches "Must Have" für uns in Zittau. Wenn wir diese schöne alte Stadt in der Oberlausitz besuchen, besuchen wir diese Location. Hier ist Herz und Seele der Region im Service und den Speisen zu spüren, zu schmecken und zu genießen. Immer wieder ein Besuch wert.

wir haben zwei tage versucht einen Tisch zubekommen, einmal war abends geschlossen u. einmal waren keine Tische mehr frei...

Wir als Familie mit 8 Personen und Hund waren hier essen. Ich hatte im Vorfeld reserviert und wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen. Die Karte ist gut geschrieben, auch auf oberlausitzer Mundart mit hochdeutscher Übersetzung. Getränke kamen zügig, auch aufs Essen musten wir nicht ewig warten. Das Essen hat allen gut geschmeckt. Unser Kellner war sehr freundlich. Wir fühlten uns wohl.

Volle Sternzahl ohne wenn und aber!!! Hervorzuheben der durchweg aufmerksame und freundliche Service! Ein Ort für perfektes Essen und Wohlfühlen! Vielen Dank und gerne wieder!

Ein sehr schönes, uriges Lokal mit freundlichem und flinkem Personal sowie einer tollen Küche. Für jeden Geschmack dürfte etwas dabei sein. Die Mahlzeiten sind sehr schmackhaft, üppig und reichhaltig. Wir waren total begeistert!

Ein urig, klasse gestaltetes Wirtshaus. Gemütlich und einladend. Genauso klasse der Empfang und der Service. Freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ratsam ist eine Reservierung, da dieses tolle Wirtshaus sehr gut besucht ist. Liebhaber von Hausmannskost und einheimischen Speisen der Oberlausitz kommen hier voll auf ihre Kosten. Hier lernt man sogar die einheimische Mundart zu den Gerichten. Und genauso Klasse wie die Lokalität ist, sind die vorgesetzten Speisen der Küche. Aus frischen Zutaten zubereitet und damit richtig schmackhaft. Ich war begeistert und total satt. Hier stimmen Preis-Leistung. Ich komme hier gern wieder.

We haven't been treated so well in a long time as we were at the Alte Sack. We felt truly welcome; the food and the warm atmosphere were top-notch. You rarely find something like that these days.

On my trip to Zittau, which I took with a friend, she suggested we go there again because she had eaten there during her rehabilitation stay, and we did. I have to say I'm rarely easily impressed, but this inn has a special charm, a warmth and coziness, an indescribably wonderful atmosphere that radiates from the place. The service staff was very attentive, friendly, and pleasant, not pushy, but always focused on the guests. The menu is so diverse and varied that it's not easy to choose from the fantastic selection... everything sounds so tempting that you want to try everything. I finally decided on the Zwiebelfleisch (onion meat) and my friend chose the Rinderbraten (roast beef). The portions were so generous and so beautifully presented that the meal became a culinary delight; both were absolutely delicious. The price-performance ratio is also excellent and completes the experience. I will definitely eat there again on my next trip to Zittau.

A wonderful, rustic restaurant with typical Upper Lusatian cuisine! My sole fillet was cooked to perfection – tender and delicate in flavor, accompanied by a wonderfully fresh and aromatic apple and pointed cabbage dish. My partner raved about the hearty mushroom and egg stew – down-to-earth, flavorful, and simply delicious. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service – we'll definitely be back! Since it gets quite busy, it's worth making a reservation beforehand :)

We followed the reviews and were not disappointed. Despite the place being full (two large parties), we were still able to get a table. They warned us it might take an hour, but it was much quicker. Friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. The price/performance ratio was good.

We ate here today with a larger group. The food was homely, very tasty, reasonably priced, and generously portioned. The process from ordering to payment was quite quick, which is important for a large group with a full day's schedule. The ambiance is a matter of taste, but it fits perfectly with the city and the concept. I really enjoyed it here and will definitely be back.

We tried a regional specialty at this restaurant and were absolutely delighted! It turned out to be both a soup and a main course in one – really filling and full of flavor. We definitely recommend everyone to try it. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and at first, we even had the whole place to ourselves, which was great. Later on, a group of rather loud guests arrived, but it didn’t spoil the overall experience. We truly recommend this restaurant and would be happy to come back.

A beautiful ambiance in the vaulted ceiling. Here you'll find interesting, tasty regional dishes such as Teichlmauke (beef on mashed potatoes with sauerkraut, vegetables, and plenty of broth, which may sound unusual to the uninitiated, but is very tasty). Friendly service, who even spontaneously finds a free table (reservations recommended). Card payments were accepted, including Google Pay (Visa).

I was very disappointed to be turned away by the service, with the excuse that the kitchen staff was overworked. I've never had anything like that happen in my life. This restaurant is NOT RECOMMENDED.

We were in Zittau for the first time and ate here. We have nothing to complain about. It's a very cool restaurant with very friendly service. The food was also excellent.

We had already chosen this restaurant online before our visit to Zittau because of its regional specialties, and we were not disappointed. The food was very good and plentiful, the service very friendly, and we had a pleasant outdoor seating area. The interior was also absolutely quaint. A definite recommendation!

Without a reservation, I would have had to wait 1 to 1.5 hours for a standard meal. But at least they told me that right away,

A great restaurant with excellent food and great service. You should definitely reserve a table in advance, otherwise you won't get a seat. Because the food is of outstanding quality, it's also very popular with the locals. There's a wonderful beer garden in front of the restaurant. Parking is available right outside. Depending on the time of day, parking is subject to a fee. This restaurant collaborates with other regional shops, garden centers, butchers, etc. At the end of the menu, you'll find a list of regional producers. We think it's a great idea to support each other like this and to publicize it. We would like to thank Steve very much for the fantastic service. You gave us an unforgettable evening!

Our little trip to Zittau today also took us to this restaurant. We chose it in advance because there are Upper Lusatian specialties on the menu. We like to try local dishes while on vacation. We had free choice of seats. The lady from the service was very attentive and friendly right from the start. We ordered two non-alcoholic drinks as well as Teichlmauke, the national dish of Upper Lusatia (that's what it says on the menu) and Stupperchl with breaded Spaajk onions and Furzwulle. The restaurant has a wonderfully rustic design and lives up to its name. The smell in the room irritated me a little. The toilets are upstairs. This means the restaurant is not barrier-free. The drinks were served quickly. We received the food in a reasonable time. The beef with my Teichlmauke tasted somehow different than when I cook it. I was still very happy with this dish. My husband can usually handle large portions well, but the Stupperchl dish was too big and extensive for him. So I was able to try it out. I also liked it very much and reminded me of a dish from my childhood. We found the prices for these dishes to be absolutely reasonable. But the prices for the non-alcoholic drinks are a disgrace. A large cola (0.4 l) for 5.40 and a small still water (0.25 l) for 3.40 euros don't work at all.

We had lunch here again during our vacation on April 23, 2025 and are still very satisfied. The goulash still tastes excellent. The team is still wonderfully friendly and the prices are also completely acceptable. Gave the child painting supplies again without being asked. We'll definitely stop by again on our next holiday in the region. Addendum from 06/2023 We had lunch here again during our vacation. Everything was great, just like on our first visit 2 years ago. Without being asked, Junior was again given painting supplies to keep him busy. We ate goulash with dumplings again. Wonderfully tasty, very filling and completely acceptable in terms of price. The service was again extremely friendly and available for a quick chat. We will definitely stop by here again when we are in the area. The food was very tasty, the goulash was very tender and the red cabbage still had a good bite. I liked that. Price and performance appropriate. I thought it was nice that the guests who had apparently made reservations were greeted by name. Our child was happy about the art supplies and books. The two boys did a very good job today, we felt very comfortable. I would eat here again. Thank you!
