Just awesome from the food bs to the service! 6 stars if I could! Only one drawback: no menu in Braille.

A visit that is really worth it, the food was excellent.

I stopped by there unannounced at lunchtime in the middle of the week. I got an extremely tasty schnitzel, fried nice and dark, a bit mixed: just the way I like it. Plus nice and friendly service... So what can I say? Wait, I know: Thank you very much to everyone involved. You are great!

A rustic inn in the Salzhaus in Zittau. Very cozy, rustic furnishings and wonderful food! Very nice staff. Reservation is required. We would be happy to come back and recommend the restaurant. 👍👍👍

Very good and tasty local food. Pleasant and cozy atmosphere. Even after 5 years everything is still very tasty. Beer in Boots in particular is a highlight. Unfortunately, reservations have become more than necessary. But it's definitely worth it. Keep it up!

Tolles Essen und nette, aufmerksame Bedienung. Leider sind die Öffnungszeiten nicht sehr Gastorientiert. Die Lage hat den Vorteil, dass man an heißen Tagen, wie es im September in den ersten Tagen der Fall war, zwar noch draußen aber dennoch Schattig sitzen konnte. Der angenehm.

I just discovered you on TV, watching a report about Zittau. I had to laugh so much🤣🤣🤣 "To the old fart", that's sooo funny. I didn't know that my husband could be found in a tavern in the east!!! Nevertheless, thank you very much for the laughter and joy on Sunday morning!

Very quaint restaurant, great service and delicious food. Even with a large group, everything went well.

Coincidence turned into a culinary experience. Stopped by by chance, happened to talk to the boss outside about Zittau, the development in Zittau and the restaurant. Then come in and let yourself be surprised. The location, a former horse stable, is very rustic. The staff very friendly and accommodating. The food is simply delicious - like home-made. A culinary delight. Very reasonable prices. Completely successful. We'll definitely be back!!

If you are looking for an inn with tradition, then this is the right place for you. That day I was in the mood for some of the country's typical cuisine and I wasn't disappointed.

Very rustic, really harmoniously furnished inn with numerous parking spaces right around it. The food is quite sumptuous, tasty and recommended, there are actually no criticisms. Salt is in the famous, very decorative salt bags on every table.

Very pleasant service, the food was excellent, regionally written and named in dialect. PRICE - PERFORMANCE thankfully very good. Historically documented menu. A recommendation for joy and cosiness, thank you for this lovely evening. And if you would like a subsequent city tour at the same location as a meeting point.

A wide variety of dishes, including regional dishes, are offered. The menu even has a page explaining local terms that appear on the menu. The ambience is great and the service is also good.

We have nothing to add to the many previous positive reviews. For years it has been a must for us to stop there when we are in Zittau. However, this time the service was particularly positive, very friendly, even though there was obviously a shortage of staff. During our 4 day stay in Zittau we even went to dinner there twice.

Service is very nice. Children's menu is great. But unfortunately it smells a bit more like food than in other places.

The restaurant owes its name to the “Alter Sack” inn. all honor. You feel very comfortable, the service is very nice and you don't have to wait long for your delicious food. Every time you stay in Zittau A visit there is a must.

I was there for dinner. The food wasn't really good. It was also very very lightly seasoned. The service was on point but not really friendly. The store is also very expensive in terms of price. In my opinion, price and performance don't match.

Four of us were in the Restaurant Zum alten Sack on the Saturday of the long Ascension weekend as part of our visit to Zittau. Such a great restaurant, very accommodating, extra cutlery and napkins were set out for the children and the waitress immediately came with books and art supplies to pass the time. Great children's menu and also a great selection for adults e.g. T. written in dialect. That's how it has to be, a successful follow-up to our short vacation.

We sat in mild weather on April 30th. comfortably outside and the six of us had dinner. Every meal was delicious and good-looking - the service was super nice and answered all of our questions. It is definitely advisable to reserve in advance - like we did, Absolute recommendation

There was absolutely NOTHING to complain about! Were here for an anniversary and were given a very welcoming and warm welcome. The table was lovingly prepared. The order was taken very quickly and the food was served quite quickly. We were well advised and served when it came to drinks. We were very satisfied and would like to come back.

We're on holiday in Zittau for a few days and are here today Came across "Alen Sack". A quaint restaurant, friendly, nice staff and very tasty food. We can only recommend the restaurant. If we didn't live 600 km away then we would stop by there often. Thumbs up.

Definitely recommended. A menu with a rustic "Upper Lusatian dialect" where you can smile and then be served a great, tasty, hand-crafted meal that the menu promises.

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ are actually not enough. From Dresden over the weekend in Zittau and stopped here on a recommendation. TOP rustic atmosphere, very tasty cold and warm dishes and very friendly staff. The concept of the restaurant is coherent and you immediately feel at home. If you want to stop here, you should book in advance. We would love to come back. 👍🏻🥳

A great restaurant...super friendly service, good food, regional and fresh, special requests were taken into account...everything without any problems! Only one thing is important: be sure to order in advance! Everything was full 3 times out of 4 days of vacation. We were lucky because we had reservations! Absolute recommendation! We'd love to come back!

Great!!! We didn't make a reservation today, but we still got a great spot. The food was simply amazing! Fast and everything freshly prepared. The portion size was very good. The owner also came to our table and wished us a bon appetit, very personable.

The food at the old sack inn had a somewhat disturbing factor. As soon as I entered the store I said to my friend that that's what it always smelled like in the locker room at our club. At first I didn't know where the smell came from. After a few minutes I realized that the smell was coming from the waiter. Either the young man had just come from training or his work clothes were washed with the club clothes. I just hope it's a one-time oversight. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that great either. The seasoned meat at least was a failure. My friend had the pork goulash with mushrooms which was said to have tasted very good. Therefore 3 stars.

In meinen Augen eine absolute Empfehlung. Es ist sehr gemütlich, der Service freundlich, die Speisen waren über unseren Erwartungen und dazu noch faire Preise. Wir haben den Aufenthalt im alten Sack sehr genossen und bedanken und beim gesamten Team.

Sehr gemütlich freundliches Personal waren sehr begeistert von Essen aber viel zu viel rotkrautAuf unseren Gericht von meinem Mann und mir. Ansonsten eine sehr schöne Gastätte wo man sich wohlfühlt.

Haben heute das Wirtshaus zum Alten Sack kennengelernt. Kurz und bündig, alles sehr gut, kommen gerne wieder. Können mit gutem Gewissen den Besuch empfehlen.

Der " Alte Sack" ist DIE Speisegaststätte am Platz 🤩. Das Personal, Essen und Ambiente sind einfach Spitze...🤩🤩🤩

Mega leckeres Essen! Knobi-Kräutersüppchen ein Geschmackserlebnis, viel Knobi und Lauch, gut gewürzt. Warmes Eckchen genauso herzhaft, deftig, einmalige Bratensoße. Moderate Preise, außer die Getränke. Warum 0,2 L Saft mittlerweile ca. 3,30€ kosten ist mir ein Rätsel. Dazu eine schlagfertige Bedienung, immer nen flotten Spruch auf Lager. Hier hat alles gepasst.

Die Kürbissuppe war der Hammer, echt ein Traum. Das andere Essen auch, mein Mann ist auch Koch und er fand es auch mega lecker

Urige Atmosphäre, leckeres Essen zu angemessenen Preisen und freundliche Bedienung. Dazu finden sich suf der Speisekarte auch typisch lokale Gerichte, inkl. kurzer Erläuterung der verwendeten Oberlausitzer Mundart. Besser einen Tisch reservieren, denn es ist wohl immer gut besucht, was ich nachvollziehen kann.

Eigentlich haben wir ja eher wegen dem lustigen Namen, der Nähe zur Unterkunft und dem bebilderten Ambiente einen Tisch für uns 3 dort reserviert. Im Nachhinein muss ich sagen, dass dieses Restaurant ab jetzt ein MUSS ist, wenn wir wieder hier sind! Das Ambiente ist schon sehr sehenswert und gemütlich. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und proaktiv ohne jedoch aufdringlich zu sein, fragt also auch mal nach ob noch etwas gewünscht wird und ob alles ok ist, kleine Sonderwünsche werden gern erfüllt. Der Hammer ist aber das Essen, was völlig ausreichend ist und extrem Lecker zu einem fairen Preis. Ein Foto kann ich leider nur vom Nachtisch anhängen (Quarkkeulchen mit Vanille-Eis; da sieht man aber schon, dass das nichts aus der Fabrik ist) . Der Hauptgang war leider schon zu sehr dezimiert, als ich beschlossen habe, dass hier mal eine positive Rezension dagelassen werden muss 😉

Wir haben unseren Hochzeitstag in kleiner Runde und verwöhnt genießen können. Extra Deko und kleine Überraschung haben den Abend noch verschönert. Wir sagen Danke.
