The meat from Schwaben Pfännchen was of very poor quality, very dry and inedible, but overpriced at over €20.00. I will not visit again or recommend it to anyone.

Unfriendly, unclean, inefficient, and the food is an outrage.

We were at the Christmas market in Würzburg and stopped for a meal. Excellent chicken and fries at a fair price – a top recommendation near the Residence in Würzburg!

A traditional inn? No! The service is friendly and fast, really good. If you order food, it arrives quickly – too quickly, in fact. The currywurst and fries take the longest, no joke. The roast goose breast arrives faster. Overcooked and with a flabby skin. The dumplings are tasteless. The red cabbage was the highlight. The salmon with rösti is also not a culinary delight. On top of that, the ventilation in the kitchen doesn't work properly, so after a short visit, your clothes smell of deep-fried food and the kitchen.

Chicken rotisserie (chicken was excellent) with schnitzel from the deep fryer. Service was friendly and fast. Portions were too small. The price-performance ratio was poor.

We spontaneously decided to have dinner at the Karthäuser on Sunday evening. We got a table right away. Friendly service, a charming, traditional Franconian restaurant. Ordering was quick, and the food arrived promptly. The pumpkin soup was delicious and piping hot. The Schäufele (pork shoulder) was fantastic. My wife ordered the "Räuberteller" (a large plate of food) and couldn't finish it. We were able to easily take the rest to go.

We've been coming here since 2018, and despite the new management and price increases, we're very satisfied and always order the Schäufele (pork shoulder) – a real treat! 👌🏼 The waitress was very courteous and attentive. The tables and dining area are perfectly fine and always busy. See you again! 🤓

The service deserves six stars. We were in Würzburg two weeks ago and wanted to grab a bite to eat before heading out to an event in the evening. They asked if we had a reservation, which we said no, and they were about to send us away when another waitress came and asked if we could come back in an hour. We said no problem, as we already knew what we wanted to eat. I ordered pork shoulder with dumplings in beer sauce, and my girlfriend ordered the Swabian pan-fried dish. The food was very good and tasty. We'll definitely be back on our next visit.

We came here for a meal because the Schäufele (pork shoulder) is supposed to be so good. Of course, we ordered it, and it was AMAZING. And as someone from northern Germany, I can also recommend the dumplings; they're delicious too. The lady was friendly and helpful, as we wanted to have a glass of wine. Her recommendation was spot on. Thank you for the warm welcome. The restaurant is located right on a main road, and the theater is directly opposite. Keep that in mind, but if it bothers you, just go inside. 😉

Franconian classics, absolutely excellent!

The beer was good, Herbsthäuser Dunkel Bock. One of the four dishes wasn't as usual. The sauerbraten, the Schäufele (pork shoulder), and the chicken burger were tasty and plentiful. The Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) were missing the cheese and tasted only of cream cheese. That was a shame. Otherwise, we were all satisfied.

The food is awesomeee! JUST AWESOME! Me and my friend have been visiting there for having the same food (Fried Chicken + Klöße) every month since July, 2025. We love the atmosphere, the services and of course the food. The quality of the food remains top notch every single time. In this December, 2025, we will be going there for the last time. We will really really miss this place and the food :)))

We only intended to stop in briefly for a drink and give our son a bottle so we could continue on to the old town. However, the menu was so tempting that we ordered a salad with chicken strips and chicken with garlic and sweet potato fries. The ambiance is rustic, which makes it very cozy. The service was very friendly, and the food was phenomenally good. Both the staff and the other guests made it a truly enjoyable experience, where we had some great conversations. Our food was very fresh and simply delicious. Thank you so much, and keep up the good work!

The "Legendary Chicken" was so dry that I complained and sent it back. The server just smiled. That was it. The pub smells like old grease. Not recommended!

I was there with my girlfriends for dinner last Monday and we really enjoyed it! It's also suitable for vegetarians (they happily accommodated our special requests). A very friendly and attentive young man served us and gave us great advice! All in all, a very successful evening. Thank you, we'll definitely be back.

Update 11/2025: The service was friendly and generally attentive. Unfortunately, the prices have become somewhat higher and are now almost in the same range as other restaurants. There's no longer a lunch menu. We ordered two cordon bleu and one liver dish. The breading of one cordon bleu contained extremely large pieces of eggshell. The liver was raw inside, not pink, but raw. We sent both back and received new portions, but it took a while even though it wasn't busy. The food tasted quite good, though. The mashed potatoes were more like a potato gratin. The price-performance ratio is good, but lately, you can tell that the quality of the food has declined somewhat... Nice, authentic decor.

The ambiance is pleasant. Traditional decor. The staff was very friendly. Apart from the fact that the white wine was warm and the onion tart wasn't fresh and was half-cooked, it was just about acceptable.

I was at the restaurant this evening and was absolutely delighted! I received a very warm welcome upon entering, and the atmosphere was cozy, stylish, and inviting. The food was outstanding – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The main course, in particular, was a highlight of the evening. I would also like to commend our waiter. He was attentive, friendly, and always there at the right time without being intrusive. His recommendations were perfect, and it was clear he genuinely enjoyed his job. We bought half a chicken today for All Saints' Day. Although the chickens are "supposedly" cooked on a rotisserie, we were immediately hit with the smell of old frying oil when we opened the package. And that's exactly how they tasted – extremely dry and unfortunately not good at all. It's a shame, I'm used to better quality; it seems like you're getting day-old food for the same price. Absolutely terrible!

We were given a comfortable table in the rustic dining room and immediately struck up a conversation with a friendly, fun group at the next table – it felt truly like family! The food was outstanding: fresh, homemade, and prepared with great care. The typical Franconian dishes were absolutely delicious, especially the meat, which was tender and flavorful. I come here very often. We've celebrated birthdays there several times and ordered chicken and fries from you, and we always enjoyed it very much. Since the restaurant is under new management and the menu has been significantly reduced, I can hardly find anything anymore that used to draw me to you. Where have the pizzas gone? They were the tastiest in all of Würzburg. I realize the pizza menu was very long, but they could have left out five different varieties. Where have the baked dishes gone? Schnitzel (Hawaiian, Italian, Bernese?) I'm disappointed. I really don't mind a "breath of fresh air" on the menu, but I think many regulars will look elsewhere. It's not too late yet.

We were there at the beginning of the year. It was very disappointing. Only the name is still good. The food is not recommended. Not even the chicken. We won't be coming again.

The price/performance ratio is excellent here. The reservation also worked perfectly.

In my opinion the best Steakhouse in Würzburg

The chicken isn't what it used to be - a shame, really. Sometimes, despite the lack of foot traffic, you sit outside in nice weather and have to gesture repeatedly to get attention before you're finally served. If you say anything else, you're treated rudely. Update: I can't understand the good reviews. I recently ordered something for delivery. I haven't recommended it since the change of ownership during the coronavirus pandemic. The quality has unfortunately declined significantly in all respects. The chicken hasn't improved to this day either. It was so dry that I needed a bottle of water with it. Too bad, that was my last visit. Regarding your response: Since I've only eaten at your restaurant once (2022) and mostly - even in the past exclusively - ordered via Lieferando and other service providers, I hardly believe you know me... I'd say that's a defensive claim to discredit my review :-) ... so, unfortunately, your statement reflects the COMPLETE incompetence you display with your customers. ;-) Since I have a good network, I won't be the only one who stays away as a customer. Luckily, everyone can see your rude attitude in your feedback. Humility would do you good; then your employees' motivation would also be better, which would have an impact on the quality of the food. Pride comes before a fall 🫵😜 everyone reading this should form their own opinion. Please also note the other negative reviews, and word is already getting around in Würzburg that the chicken is inedible and dry... believe it or not...

The location is not far from the Würzburg Residence and the old town. The food was good and served quickly. All in all, a pleasant restaurant visit.

Delicious food, friendly fast service, gladly again

Not recommended We were passing through and wanted a bite to eat. The people at the next table had finished eating by the time our order arrived, even though they had ordered half an hour after us. It wasn't busy, but even then, something can be forgotten. However, there was no explanation or apology, which doesn't speak well for the restaurant or its staff.

The waitress was very nice and attentive. Despite the high volume of guests, we were promptly and professionally asked for our drink and food orders. Unfortunately, it's often the case that you're "pressured" to order after just two minutes, but that was definitely not the case here. Best service in a long time! We also really enjoyed the food, and the prices were affordable for every budget. The restrooms were clean, too. We definitely recommend it!

This is our first time in Würzburg and we went here two evenings in a row. The food is sensationally good...as is the service. Despite the packed place, the young lady remained very friendly, cheerful, and welcoming. We highly recommend this restaurant. P.S.: The pork knuckle tastes better here than at Haxnbauer in Munich!

On August 6, 2025, four of us went to the Karthäuser in Würzburg, and unfortunately, the visit was a complete disappointment. The liver dumpling soup was cold, as was my roast beef with onions – also completely cooked instead of medium, with soggy fried onions, and our request to change the order from fried potatoes to fries was ignored. Instead of the cola yeast I ordered, only a yeast dough came. My wife's meal (Karthäuser pan) was cold, despite the cast-iron pan. Things were no better for our friends: The Karthäuser pan and the Schäufele (shoulder of pork) were also cold, and the dumplings were inedible, hard, and had a consistency as if they were several days old. Added to that, the service seemed completely overwhelmed and was even yelled at by the kitchen staff, which further compounded the unpleasant atmosphere. Conclusion: A disproportionately expensive visit that we definitely won't repeat.

The food was for delivery. Ordered a knuckle of pork with dumplings. The knuckle was skinless and mushy. When I complained over the phone, the manager got rude and hung up. I just wanted to give feedback and didn't even want my money back. Overpriced, and any fast food place tastes better.

So if I order bread dumplings with chanterelle sauce and there are only two chanterelle mushrooms in them and the rest are just other mushrooms, I find that more than weak! The red cabbage tasted like Christmas mulled wine and gingerbread, and that was in the middle of summer. The employee was kind enough not to charge for it. The currywurst and fries were okay, but nothing more.

We ate chicken, which was extremely dry, with no juice in the breast. The fries were definitely left in the fryer too long; they were simply too hard. The ambiance inside is simply rustic—you have to go for it. I expected a bit more from the food 😕

We all really enjoyed the two bread dumplings in a chanterelle mushroom cream sauce. Highly recommended. The light beer was well chilled and tasty. The service was friendly, but unfortunately, we sometimes had to wait a bit, which is why we deducted a small percentage for the service. We'll be back.

We were in Würzburg on August 14, 1925, and ate at this restaurant. The ambiance is rustic, but I personally prefer it to such modern decor. The service was very friendly and quick. She was alone and had to serve walk-up customers for the grilled chicken sale, but we didn't have to wait long. I chose braised beef cheeks with savoy cabbage and potato dumplings. The meat was super tender, the dumplings were handmade, and the vegetables were slightly crunchy. It was a delight for me. My mother-in-law ordered the pork knuckle with dumplings. The knuckle was a decent size and crispy. The meat was tender, and she was also very satisfied. All in all, the meal was very tasty. The price was right, too. Just under €20 for a knuckle with side dishes is okay.

Not recommended, as you're sitting right next to a busy street. Then came the half chicken, which had probably been flying a little too long in the Würzburg summer heat... I'll hold back on describing it! I'll just say this: I'm no pro, but the half chickens I prepared in the air fryer were gold in comparison! Although they swapped it without complaint after some objections, it was a huge disappointment overall! The coleslaw was a disgrace. I'm guessing it came from a pre-packaged plastic container.

Do not eat the schnitzel here. It is the worst thing I have ever received. Crumb falling off, clearly not battered with flower first, the pork was thick and chewy. Absolute waste of money.

A very nice inn in the heart of town. We ordered four hot dishes (Franconian roast beef with onions, schnitzel, shoulder of pork, and cheese spaetzle) and everything was very good. We'd be happy to come back.

The service was great, didn't have to wait long for the food, 15 minutes max. The food was delicious.

We dined inside. There weren't many people in the restaurant but I guess there were a lot of online orders. We had to wait 45 MINUTES after ordering. 45 minutes for a curry wurst w/ fries and an omelet. The quality of the food was fine but not worth the insane wait time.

Quite a varied menu, ordered soup, it was brought right away, salad and chicken had to wait a little (within 10 minutes, which I consider fast). Everything is delicious, the salad is a large portion, as for 2 or very hungry people 🤪. We had lunch outside, comfortably and enjoyed the views 🏰.

Unfortunately, I can't comment on the food, as I didn't get to eat it. The service was very unfriendly! I received my drinks in dirty glasses, and when I spoke to the waitress, she immediately became insulting and loud, which I thought was the case, since the glasses were clean. We got up and left. I wouldn't recommend it!

Very interesting place. I ordered half a chicken with Pommes and side salad alongside my 4 (German ) colleagues who order their food like roast pork bones, special sandwich and Käsespätzle. Their food arrived and after two minutes they were eating my half grilled chicken and arrived all separately, side salads and then Pommes. It was very dry and it did not look so appetite. As I haven't eaten all day I was hungry and was looking forward to eating my dinner. Unfortunately as I do not like to rate places low. I didn't feel welcome and my food and drink was not so good. I will maybe give it another try later in time and hopefully it will give me another feeling or give another better feedback.

It was super delicious. Unfortunately, the chicken was only lukewarm. The side salad had very little dressing, and 90% of the arugula was just stalks. The cordon bleu and fries were very salty. The steak with onions was quite good. Unfortunately, it was also exorbitantly expensive. We won't be going back anytime soon. Too bad 😥

The only complaint for us was that we had to find our own cutlery. Otherwise it’s great food & great value!

Arriving in Wiesbaden hungry, I first landed at this quaint restaurant. The ambiance is "aging," and the service, while friendly, was extremely hectic, even though it wasn't particularly busy and not a single customer seemed to be moving fast enough. The food (Schäufele (pork shoulder) and Schäufeleburger) was very tasty and plentiful. The light beer was also great. If you overlook the other things, the food is definitely a YES.

The food was truly delicious, and the service was very friendly despite the intense stress. Unfortunately, we witnessed the manager loudly criticizing and yelling at the customer service and a delivery driver. I won't eat there again because I don't want to support that kind of behavior.
