The food on the wife's birthday was very good as always but the venison plate was too cold, the scheufele was good as always but the chicken was too dry and the schnitzel was just barely satisfying

Food: relatively high quality! Definitely tip, half chicken with fries, the meat fell off the bone like butter and the breast meat wasn't dry as it often is with grilled chicken. Service: Nice and accommodating, but the waitress was too busy and had to wait a relatively long time until we could order drinks, but there are worse things. Ambience: Rustic atmosphere as you would expect from a Franconian restaurant, there is nothing wrong with it! One point of criticism is the sink in the men's toilet, it couldn't be smaller! You can hardly wash your hands without touching the tap and the sink, although that's partly due to the space, but well, I'll come back anyway.

I went to this pub for lunch on Christmas Day with family. Unfortunately we had to wait half an hour for the food, perhaps because it was full and it was a public holiday. But the beer and the food were nice and plentiful and very good. Half duck with dumplings and red cabbage. Tastes good and delicious. Otherwise we really liked it.

Ordered some food to take home. Unfortunately two dumplings were missing. --> Extremely unfriendly telephone service: "Nothing will be reordered." and hung up. Of course it was paid in advance. Is this how you treat your customers? The quality of the food was good, but unfortunately the service was the opposite. You don't order to have stress, but rather to make your work easier and you pay for it. Or would this unfriendly employee at Karthäuser want to meet himself in a restaurant?!

We had duck, Schäufele & chicken. It was very tasty and plentiful. The service was friendly, despite it being busy. Unfortunately, the orders were a bit chaotic. So something was always missing or was added later. We thought it was nice to be seated at a table with strangers. It's just a small place in the Kartäuser, but it's rustic Franconian.

You should always start positively. The food is very, very good. People who know their craft work here. Absolute top class and without a doubt a recommendation. Unfortunately, our visit was more dominated by the remaining impressions. When we came into the dining room we were told very harshly that we had to wait. After a short while we were told to sit down at a table (despite reservations) where people were already sitting. Luckily we were able to avert that. And got a table for us. In progress. Only when asked were the leftovers from the previous person removed from our table. The food we ordered came after ¾ of an hour, while our table next door was ready to eat - although it came later and ordered later. Because we were seated in the hallway, we not only always heard the cold air from outside but also the harsh sound of the cellars. Neither helps the situation. All in all, you can speak of excellent food here and it is definitely a culinary recommendation. Unfortunately, service falls short and you have to compensate for that with your own people and your own sense of humor.

Institution in Würzburg - If there's fried chicken, then here, otherwise a huge menu at a decent level, except on the bad days, which unfortunately have become more frequent in the last few months. Update. 11/26/17 - Tip: ask for the current cooking and then let the service advise you on what you can use. Chicken is still great! 03/20/18. As usual again for 30 years Update: May 22: After the loving renovation in the summer of 21, we went out to eat a few times, as well as to pick up: Our positive impression has remained for decades: delicious, Franconian cuisine with international dishes, especially on the Daily menu - always the tastiest grilled chicken...Update March 23: Service and ambience were great, the food was once again average. Is it because of the new GF? Prices logically go up, but a little less of everything? It's ok, 3, 3 points, I hope it's just a phase. Autumn 24: The menu is completely new and the number of dishes has become smaller, but the quality is better again. The new renovation leaves you a little confused about the style. Positively the new climate, the smell of the chicken rotary is no longer as present. Again a clean 4.0 points.

Ended up here by chance and we are happy about it! Everything was perfect and very tasty. There was: Schwabenpfännle and Ochsebäckle with savoy cabbage and red cabbage (reordered) the waiter was super friendly. Price-performance unbeatable! PS: Red cabbage (red cabbage) as good as at Muddi.

Great food, great service. 👍 We had dinner with the family on a Saturday evening in the run-up to Christmas and had reserved a table in advance. When we arrived the table was still occupied, there was apparently a double booking. However, the phenomenal team on site did everything possible to clarify the situation and so we were able to take our seats a few minutes late. The food came to the table super quickly and was really delicious. All in all: 1A food at fair prices and a strong service team. Gladly again at any time.

I ordered 1 chicken and fries to be delivered there. After the chicken was so inedible, extremely dry and just plain bad, I threw it away completely. Called there really angry. I was really angry. Whoever spoke to me on the phone was so incompetent when it came to dealing with customers that he ultimately wanted to reprimand me. I had to write this review very very disappointed.

I had lunch at Karthäuser with my husband and kids. As always, there were delicious cheese spaetzle and super crispy chicken with fries. For dessert we just had to have a round of apple fritters - we can't go past those. The service was super friendly and also great with the kids. Gladly again.

I only give the two stars for the service of our waiter. He alone would have deserved more. BUT the boss! There are no words for him. In any case, no good words from me. It was unbelievable how he spoke to his staff. How can you treat people like that and then expect good work to be done? If you have something to clarify, you do it behind the scenes and don't attack your employees like that in front of the guests ! But don't worry, he doesn't treat the guests much better. These are also sometimes addressed in an impossible tone. It's a shame about the beautiful restaurant. But something like that is anything but hospitality. ANSWER to the answer from the owner: Of course, something can and should be said if something is wrong. But the tone and the manner make the music. That was absolutely not right. And I have been working in the catering industry for over 30 years. So I can very well judge what works and what doesn't. And they didn't treat the guests any better either.

Half chicken potato salad 14.80 Chicken lay dry like a brick in the stomach. Potato salad bland oily dressing. Coarse wedges, some potatoes halved or in thirds, relatively hard consistency. Fries were great.

Food good - service partly unsatisfactory As is typical in Franconia, I ordered Schäufele, which tasted good. Overall, for €19.90 you got a good portion that was appropriate for the price. In terms of taste, I've had better Schäufele but overall it was really good but not exceptional or outstandingly good - the same applies to the gravy... I think it's good that there is no extra fee for changing inserts, as is usually the case elsewhere! Unfortunately the service left something to be desired. But here I felt particularly sorry for the waiter. The young waiter (estimated to be around 20-25 years old) had to handle the service in the entire store completely on his own, even though he was just having one of his first days... This was also noticeable because he was still very good at many things seemed unsafe and, in particular, everything took quite a long time..... But this is no wonder when you leave the entire service to a young service newcomer in a fully staffed and well-attended restaurant.... Nevertheless, he always appeared extremely friendly towards the guests and repeatedly apologized for the long waiting times and the lack of procedures due to his lack of experience. I very much hope that another service person can be found here quickly to support the young gentlemen and I especially hope that this does not remain a permanent situation, as I found it today..... As already mentioned: The service person can help you I'm most sorry here... I can actually only explain the problem that there was a short-term increase in staff shortages or that the restaurant operator simply cannot find any more waiters (or does not want to find them at all or thinks they are necessary...) We don't know what's wrong here... If you get the chance, you might want to replace the toilets in the next few years, as they are getting quite old. Overall, 4/5 stars for me because of the good food and the nice service I would like to come back on my next visit to Würzburg and hope that the service will be better then!

No idea if there is a new owner here. But the chicken we always came here for wasn't great this time. We were there with the entire family. Two small children, grandma, grandpa, my wife and me. We always came there when we were in Würzburg. Always with potato salad and half a grilled chicken. So far we have never been disappointed. This time the chicken seemed to have come out of the deep fryer. They weren't great. However, there are the fries. Grandpa had knuckle, which he also liked, and my wife also had another dish in the pan. Everyone with chicken was disappointed. Too bad. Maybe a new owner? All of this was made up for by the extremely friendly service. She seems to be the good soul of the house. At the end, the children each received a lollipop.

I like to enjoy good home cooking in a cozy atmosphere. Freshly squeezed lemon juice with lemonade is a wonderful alternative to the usual drinks, which usually seem too sweet to me. The grilled chicken and pork knuckle are fabulous. The bread dumplings in cream sauce with fresh chanterelles from the daily menu were excellent. I've been coming here for decades and am happy to recommend it. Many thanks and best regards to the entire team.

Unfortunately, that was a complete disappointment. We ordered 5 dishes and the Schäufle Burger three times. The baguette simply came raw and was not baked; you could hardly eat it. When I asked the waitress about it, she was totally crazy Silly and didn't want to listen to it. Therefore nothing was done. It's a shame but we won't be coming back

Was there for the 3rd time. Before that, about 3 years ago. The quality is not recommended. Unfortunately, when the owner changes, the quality also changes. That was true in the truest sense of the word. I will never be a guest there again. Sorry, but criticism was necessary.

After a long time I felt like half a chicken again, I wanted to try the BBQ chicken (marinated in BBQ). Unfortunately, it wasn't marinated; after serving, they simply poured BBQ sauce over it. 🤦🏼‍♂️ 14.90€ the usual half chicken costs 9.90€ The cordon bleu was fried! Come on guys, that just doesn't work. A little butter in a pan and fried nice and slow. Complete!! The level of catering continues to fall while prices rise. 👏 Keep it up!

It was the worst chicken I had ever eaten. Tasteless, no crispy skin and dry as straw. When I complained, the chicken was taken away and put back in the oven. When it came back it was swimming in oily garlic. The fries were rock hard and had obviously been thrown in the grease again and fried again. Therefore they were very crunchy and also inedible. My companions and I haven't eaten so badly in a long time. The service tried to save the whole thing. But friendliness doesn't help if it doesn't taste good. A pity. And we had to pay expensive money for that.

Carthusian pizza was once...this was replaced by onion pizza. Mushrooms were canned and artichokes were completely missing. Tomato sauce way too thick. There wasn't anything else on the pizza. The usual taste was also not recognizable. Ordered 4 pizzas when we received them after 30 minutes. No one wanted to pick up. Our guess: New chef or new owner. Quality...very bad, a shame...

Never again… We've been ordering Schäufele with dumplings there for 1-2 years now. Today 2 dumplings were delivered too few, we called and asked for a subsequent delivery. The lady (who is hard to understand) said she had to work and simply hung up. We then called again and asked to speak to the manager. He said there were no dumplings with the dish (but there are!!! What should I do with a dry Schäufele without sauce and dumpling?! Besides, we have already ordered the dish several times!) and we were disrespectful to the employee - the employee who just hangs up. But okay, when I wanted to describe my situation, the managing director simply hung up. Now the restaurant owes us money…. Thanks for nothing.

Half chicken with fries was ordered. First, the supplement arrived incorrectly. There was no dip/sauce with the chicken. So I asked for ketchup. The boss, Oliver Amin, then approaches us from the side, asking us to let him run again. It's unbelievable how the customers are treated here. In addition, since the tenant changed, the food is no longer as good as it used to be. Chicken dry and side dishes also only mediocre. Mr. Amin - it's a shame that you left such an impression.

Today I ordered from Wirtshaus Kartäuser via Lieferando, and only one portion of the ordered goods arrived, even though we ordered 2. There was no receipt either (very suspicious). After calling to ask what happened to the second portion, the only answer I got was "we're no longer delivering today, I can order the second one again this week" am I in the wrong movie? or can I only pay when the second portion arrives? I've never experienced anything so cheeky and you should check the whole place to see if things are going well. Very shameful if you think you are in good hands in a traditional restaurant.

May 18, 2024 8 p.m. I picked up two half chickens. Saleswoman stood for at least half an hour. Chicken sold us. I asked her specifically. I would have the fresh one. The lady said it was fresh too, but unfortunately I didn't open it like that at home and the chicken was almost dry. If you can't swallow any more, never again Carthusian -5

I recommend it. The average bill is 50 euros and it’s cheap. My wife and I were passing through Wurzburg. We wanted to eat and went to this establishment. The food is divine. The cooks and waiters are professionals. We were pleasantly surprised that the girl waiter spoke easily to us in Russian when she realized that we did not speak German.

We had roast lamb and ox cheeks. Very tasty and plentiful. A good basis for the subsequent wine tasting.

I know Carthusian from before. They used to have the world's best chicken there. What we were served there on Monday was bad. The chicken was so dry it was hard to eat and the fries were just hard. A pity!!!

It's not what it used to be. In the past you had problems finding a free table, today it's exactly the opposite. The chickens are weighed at 1300g. (it says so on the menu) and it is “at most” 900 grams from the freezer. The fries are Mc D...thin and flabby. The waitress has to prepare food, clean tables, pour drinks and wash up. It won't work like that 👎 I'm from the catering industry myself 😉

One star is already too many. In 2020 it was a pleasure. A female-looking and strong waitress is incredibly unfriendly. I ordered fried chicken that day and what was brought to the table looked like half a quail. When I asked why the oven was so much bigger and the one I got was so small, the waitress started and asked how hungry I was. And was so loud the whole restaurant could hear it. The price for the whole experience - half a hand/quail, a salad plus a soft drink - comes to €17.50. Never go to the store again.

People go to the Karthausen and don't order anything!!! The food is always very tasty, hot and appetizingly prepared. I've been coming since I was a child and have never been disappointed. I can recommend it to anyone who likes hearty!!!!
