The food was cheap, but the quality wasn't great. We won't eat there again.

We just go there for drinks after dinner, they take care of us really quickly, we were a group of over 10 at 1030 pm, thanks for having us.

Jägerschnitzel = stale fried potatoes, reheated. About 8 mushrooms. I've had better at fast food restaurants. Service was quick and friendly.

Ambience top and the service was great today (05/12/25). Unfortunately the food can't keep up. In and of itself it was OK, but for the price and the ambience and location, ready meals simply don't fit. Sry but serving an individual schnitzel is a no go. You can't and shouldn't serve something like that in a restaurant like this. Hence the deductions.

If you love hearty food and a Bavarian ambience, this inn is the right place for you. The waitresses at Bayernlook are nice, friendly and attentive. The food is very tasty and is served relatively quickly. Likewise the cool blonde, for example Spaten beer. The currywurst with ox meat is a special taste. And the snacks are also plentiful and very good. The glass fireplace in the back area is extravagant. Outdoor seating with umbrellas and hot lamps can be used even in the uncomfortable season, and not just for smokers. The only drawback: the toilets in the basement are difficult or impossible to reach for walkers or wheelchair users.

We've been to the Hannover Wirtshaus twice in the last few weeks - and were completely satisfied every time! The service is friendly, attentive and fast, the food is really excellent - if you like German cuisine, you will definitely get your money's worth here. What is particularly noteworthy is the consistently high quality on both visits. A small downside to today's visit: Photos were taken of food (which luckily was ordered) and drinks for the homepage or social media. Unfortunately, the freshly mixed cocktails went straight down the drain - a shame, because they could have been given away or used for something else. That left a somewhat unnecessary aftertaste. Nevertheless: A great restaurant that we are happy to recommend and will definitely visit again! You can park directly at the opera car park.

The inn has an attractive interior with Bavarian comfort. The menu is extensive and contains regional and Bavarian dishes. May 1, 2025 Small table buffet for 2 people with a Glaa Cremant. 👍

Half the knuckle had a pretty dry sense of humor and the service was inattentive. Bavarian convenience cuisine is much better in Hanover.

Great quick service. Food is a nice selection of delicious dishes. Unfortunately, we noticed that the portion size of the unbeatably delicious Kaiserschmarrn was significantly reduced. Leberkäse should be fried more strongly but everything tastes great. Cakes are recommended, as is the tarte flambée. Iced tea is overpriced. And unfortunately it is uncomfortably hot in the restaurant. Turn down the heat please.

Absolutely fantastic! My visit to the Hannover Wirtshaus was a complete success, especially thanks to the pork knuckle. The meat was incredibly tender and juicy, with a crispy crust. Every bite was a delight! The atmosphere in the inn was also very inviting and cozy. The service was attentive and friendly, so I felt completely at home. Always my pleasure.

Staff didn't notice people outside.

Our food was so-so, the duck burger was over-seasoned and the currywurst wasn't really a currywurst. The Kaiserschmarrn was not fluffy. We had 4 meals and 3 wasn't really good. Too bad. Was an attempt. We tried again yesterday (April 10, 2025) and were pleasantly surprised. Very nice staff, the food was delicious, everything was great. Now recommended.

Great food and great atmosphere.

The philosophy of processing high-quality products and describing exactly where we shop on the map convinced us that everything was excellent. Including the operation, it couldn't be better.

Fast and friendly service. Food different. Pork fillet tasty and decent portion. Jägerschnitzel a smooth four minus. One tablespoon of mushy fried potatoes and 1 tablespoon of burnt mushrooms... doesn't work at all.

Really cool vibe and extremely friendly. Lots of smiles and laughing but attention to detail on service and food. The pork shank is quite the meal so prepare to be stuffed. The Hannover Currywurst is a must and the Viennese Schnitzel was by far the best I’ve had. Truly fun place if you are in Hannover. My only negative was that they did not take Amex. Overall this is a 5 start for me😎

Nice restaurant, friendly service. The Jägerschnitzel was probably frozen food from the deep fryer. The fried potatoes were far too dark and tasted old and warmed up. You had to look for the mushrooms. A sad cocktail tomato as decoration doesn't have to be necessary either. A lot of money for little quality. Too bad

We were there for lunch. Everything was very tasty and the service was perfect. We didn't have to wait long for our food - which is very important during the lunch break.

I often go to the inn because it's also a good place to eat during your lunch break. Price performance is very good, you feel comfortable and above all you are served really quickly. So like I said, I'm here often so there's no point in going.

Eat and drink deliciously at normal prices. What more could you want?

A few days ago I was in the restaurant with several friends. The ambience corresponds to what a North German who has never been to Bavaria or Austria might imagine as Alpine cosiness. The seating at the table reserved for us was very tight. But the dining room was clean and tastes and ideas about physical proximity to the person sitting next to you are of course different. The staff was attentive, nice and friendly. Only the desire for payment had to be reminded several times. This was annoying for those who still had to catch a train. The first surprise for me was the somewhat confusing layout of the menu and the names of some of the dishes. There is a “Village Musician Burger”. What association there is between a burger with cheese and ham and village musicians remains a secret of the word creator. Names such as “Kikiriki Burger” and “Korn Dieb” were also not reserved for the children’s menu. I ordered “Jäger’s mess”. The funny name refers to “2 pork schnitzels with mushroom cream sauce, fried mushrooms and fried potatoes” at a price of €19.90. Instead of fried potatoes I had French fries. The fries were good. The thickened and sticky hunter's sauce came out of the packaging to my liking. I couldn't tell whether the few mushrooms coated with this had been fried beforehand. The biggest disappointment were the two almost identical schnitzels (same size, same thickness and evenly breaded) which, in my opinion, were bought as (frozen?) convenience goods and cooked in the deep fryer. In my opinion, this assessment is also supported by the fact that the food was served less than 10 minutes after ordering. The dish is at most the level of a snack bar. I know people who make their own mushroom sauce, bread the schnitzel themselves and fry them in the pan. The burgers and pork knuckles that my friends ate were said to be ok. In any case, I won't visit the restaurant again.

Very good location, the prices are okay and the quality of the food is great and not too little or too much (i.e. very well adapted), the service is very nice and what's also nice is that there are disabled toilets and always in case of problems a helping hand, but since the inn is always busy I recommend making a reservation in advance, it's worth a visit.

We were there for the second time on New Year's Eve. The food was super tasty and more than enough, and the price-performance ratio was also great. The cocktails with the sweets for Happy Gaudi were very tasty. The staff was very, very friendly and extremely attentive. We are already looking forward to our next visit with you ☺️.

Food is really good. The Wiener Schnitzel was huge and delicious. We were there as a group and got our food without much waiting. Drink reorders took a little too long, but the restaurant was also extremely full.

Great location for small and large appetites. Very friendly staff, very busy, so reserve in advance. Southern German delicacies right through to a delicious cellar beer.

Actually a clear thing for five stars. We really enjoyed the food and the service was exemplary at the beginning. But then it started. The table was cleared even though one person was still eating. Although when asked, the question could have been saved; it would have been better to wait another 2 minutes. We would have liked to take half of the uneaten schnitzel with us. But the food didn't reach us. Although expressly requested by us. Then there was a Punch and Judy show from the service. Suddenly no one had cleared our table, no one from the service team had really commented on it and everything just seemed very embarrassing. Very unfortunate.

What happened? Price/performance is really shocking. When it came to the schnitzel, you had to think about whether they came from Tillmann out of the toaster. And the portions are a joke too. Sorry but that was only really the last visit!

Decent good German cuisine with changing seasonal dishes.

A beautifully decorated restaurant with a great ambience, great service and extremely friendly staff. However, the food was rather average. I had the knuckle, which was unfortunately very small, and the side dishes didn't taste convincing either. My wife had the tarte flambée, which was also okay, but nothing special. Nevertheless, the restaurant is definitely worth a second try to try a different dish.

Since the cocktail bar next door was too full for us, we came here and didn't regret it. Very nice shop with great Christmas decorations. We also enjoyed the beers.

"Bavarian" inn in the center of Hanover. The decor is rustic but very comfortable. The service is good and the food is also delicious. - I'm at the inn more often these days.

We were there with 22 people. Everything worked out great. Food was delicious. We'll be back.

Went a few weeks ago with my mother and I cannot shake the feeling that the place was really not as it used to be. I'll assume they thought we were both tourists which isn't unlikely when her and I spoke English. However, I happen to live in Celle and my husband and I have gone there for years for celebrations, before an event at Union or just for lunch after the Markt. We typically order quite a few things because we love food and they typically have specials or something new and or limited each visit. My mother isn't that adventurous so I tried to get what she could potentially enjoy and then she could grab bites of what I got. Well service was basically null and it was quite empty after we ordered. Requests made for extra things fell on deaf ears. Typically this sort of thing is frowned upon and I don't need much in terms of service but my mother couldn't even eat. The server was so purposely inattentive and rude we didn't even want him to pack everything for us to eat it at home. The guy was so absent multiple people had to go to the bar to pay. I normally do not pay my husband does but I had a feeling I was overcharged. It was over 60€ and even when I did the math it just seemed off. What was most irritating is when I asked where was he the other server explained he was taking a break outside. A break from what? He left all his tables to be ignored, only brought one of the three things we asked him for. We tried asking for things I normally never have to ask for there - it's suggested or confirmed if I want it or not. My mother left early in frustration and I only stayed to pay and then I couldn't even do that. I sat there for so long we had grocery including eis that was melting - so I ate the majority of it! I couldn't believe it.

The atmosphere was great and the staff was very attentive and quick. The card made a good impression. I had "Jäger's Pig" with fries instead of fried potatoes. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. Fries on the plate, a spoonful of mushroom cream sauce on the right and left, two schnitzels from the deep fryer on top, a few dry-fried mushrooms and an Alibi cocktail tomato on top. It was quite tasty, but for the price I would have expected the schnitzel to come out of the pan. Unfortunately, the fries were soggy due to the dip in the sauce on the left and right sides of the plate. And the "decoration" was amusing... The whole thing screams system catering. It's a shame, with a little more attention and love you could do more with it.

Good food in a relaxed atmosphere, great service and good prices. If you like home cooking, this is the place for you!

We ordered takeout. 1 whole dish for €17 was missing when picked up. The soup was completely soaked through the cardboard packaging. Service was very short and the soup that had leaked couldn't even be refunded. It was the first and last time for us. 25€ per person And then soggy and spilled dishes, just stress with missing items that had already been paid for. It really doesn't work at all.

1A, it was so beautiful! Tasty and the bellies were more than full. One could almost say, unfortunately. From evening onwards there are cocktails at happy hour and they are a real treat for the palate. We both got burgers that were visually very impressive. I would have preferred a dessert included. But the stomach was too small. Beautiful rustic atmosphere! Simply great! See for yourself. Pulled chicken, a delight.

Had a spontaneous meal there at prime time. The atmosphere was great and a free table was found for us. It was quite loud in the back of the dining room, which made it difficult to have a conversation. Food was tasty and well prepared. We'll give the restaurant another chance and test it a second time!

There were 10 of us at the Essen Wirtshaus. The atmosphere was very pleasantly rustic. It was also very clean, in the guest room and in the toilets. The service was very friendly, but hardly tangible. The meals were very tasty. However, one person was served their food cold. In addition, the bacon advertised on the menu was missing from the burger. Another guest didn't get the food he ordered at all. The plate with the medallions was only handed over when asked. There was “only” a verbal apology for this. In my opinion, they could have at least offered a drink on the house as an apology. Especially since the missing dish was only brought to the table after all other guests had finished eating. But now okay. The prices were, for Hanover, moderate. However, if you prefer to dine quietly, you should look for another restaurant, as it is very loud in the dining room. Conversation was sometimes difficult because you had to keep asking questions for acoustic reasons.

The ambience was fine and fits the theme. Food is very tasty but if you get the food cold and something is missing on the citizen it is not good. We also didn't get one meal, which was made later and received about 15 minutes later than the other family members. They only asked one person if they would like compensation instead of asking the person who received their food late. But so far the waiters were very friendly.

The restaurant is furnished in the typical style but is very modern. The only thing I noticed is that it can get comparatively loud when the restaurant is busy. The food is super tasty and I was pleasantly surprised by the prices. The seasonal menu offers regular variety for regular customers. The employees were very nice and came regularly to check on everything. I had tarte flambée and Kaiserschmarrn myself...highly recommended! If you like typical Bavarian/German flair, this is definitely the right place for you!

The four of us were here for the first time and spent almost €100. The food was very, very tasty. We were definitely not here for the last time at the Hannover Wirtshaus. The only drawback was that the music was a bit loud.

Nice service, chicken was crispy and tasty. Unfortunately, the knuckle was still very young on the bone and was bleeding. This was communicated to the waitress and was to be passed on in the kitchen. No apology or reduced bill when paying. This can be solved better.

We were in the restaurant with a group of 6 people on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was very well attended. Unfortunately our food order didn't come at the same time, but the last 4 portions 15 minutes later. I had the spinach dumplings with mushroom cream sauce and fried onions and a small mixed salad. The salad consisted of 80 percent iceberg lettuce, the César dressing was delicious, apparently homemade. The dumplings were also very good, the sauce was clearly a ready-made sauce, the mushrooms came from a can, a shame. You could have at least worked with some fresh herbs and at least fresh mushrooms here. The very coarse, dried basil wasn't as zesty. My table neighbor's cheesecake was said to be very tasty. The menu here mainly consists of meat dishes, with minimal vegetarian dishes. There are no vegan dishes, except salad. The attentiveness of the service can be improved. We sat for a long time in front of empty glasses and empty dishes. We often tried to get attention by waving. When I mentioned this when paying, I got a cheeky answer. There is a need for improvement, that's a deduction. The portions are relatively small for what they cost.

Delicious and down-to-earth food. Slightly too salty, but that's a matter of taste. Service is sometimes not present enough, but still very friendly. It wasn't our first time there, and of course - despite the increased prices, it was very busy in the early evening.

Had traditional German pork knuckle. Skin is crispy and meat is moist. Wunderbar!
