Staff friendly, food tasted good and furnishings were very comfortable. I'll be back

- good home cooking - Either it's only self-service or we just sat in the wrong area. The food was good, but the prices were a little higher. Service at the self-service counter was okay but not particularly friendly. But we'd love to come back because the Eselsburger Valley is simply worth a trip.

Very tasty cuisine, thumbs up! We had lentils with spaetzle and cheese spaetzle. The food was very appealing both in terms of taste and appearance.

The food was nothing special, it tasted like it was in a cafeteria. The service wasn't particularly friendly. But the ambience and location is great.

Been there again today for a long time and I was very positively surprised. The food was very tasty, we were served very friendly, the cake, baked by the boss herself, was huge and very good and there were even self-sewn dog blankets for the four-legged friends. The atmosphere in the new part of the building is really cozy.

Menu to scan👎no internet reception, neither with the smartphone nor via the restaurant's own WiFi. Food carelessly arranged on the plates, some of the food was cold. Burgers even taste better in fast food restaurants. Service staff sometimes seem stressed and disinterested. Price-performance ratio not okay.

It couldn't be more beautifully located next to a stream. Very nicely laid out seating with lots of shade from parasols, but still bright and harmonious. The ambience around is also very appealing. The self-service works perfectly, delicious dishes are recommended for snacks and drinks on tap are also recommended. Always happy to come back there.

„Schwäbische Kässpätzle“ohne Käse. In den Kässpätzle war kein Käse zu finden, es waren lediglich Spätzle. Das „schwäbische“ daran war wohl, daß man sich den Käse gespart hat. Der mitgelieferte Salat war fade, da er eigentlich nur salzig war.

The price is a bit exorbitant, but a nice location in summer to stop off after a hike through the Eselsburger Valley.

I was there just about a week ago and the food was semi good. The pommes tasted old and also way to salty. The other food was OK. They have a big garden with a playground in the middle. It's self service. Although it wasn't full it took some time until the food arrived!

As always, everything is good. Nice crew, very concerned about the guests, fine food... Good weather, what more could you want.

A Swabian sausage salad (€12.90) was tasted, but its taste left a lot to be desired.

Wir waren im Biergarten zu Gast. Der angrenzende Spielplatz ist für die Kinder eine tolle Sache und auch die älteren können sich zurücklehnen. Nettes Ambiente am Ufer der Brenz. Das Essen wird an der Theke bestellt und bezahlt, dann vom freundlichen Personal zeitnah serviert. Der Burger und die Pommes waren lecker. Leider war das Schweineschnitzel zwar außen knusprig, aber innen noch rosa. Der Salat war frisch, aber das Dressing schmeckte wie aus der Packung. Ebenso das Salat-Buquet an den Hauptgerichten. Die Steinpilztäschle waren vermutlich convenience Produkte, die Pilze in der Soße schleimig, keinesfalls frisch. Das Hühnchen war lecker mariniert, aber ebenfalls ein Tütenprodukt. Vielleicht muss in einem so großen Biergarten alles schnell gehen und diese industriell vorgefertigten Gerichte sind notwendig, um einen solchen Betrieb am laufen zu halten. Aber dann dürften diese Gerichte nicht so teuer sein. Vielleicht wäre es besser die Anzahl der Gerichte auf der Karte zu reduzieren. Lieber weniger Speisen, und die dafür frisch zubereitet und lecker. Dann zahlt der Kunde auch gerne diese Preise. Ein Saftschorle 0,4 L für 4,80€ finde ich definitiv überteuert. Trotz des netten Personals und des ansprechenden Ambientes - wir werden wohl nicht mehr kommen.

Today my wife and I went on an extensive tour from Nattheim through the Eselburger Valley on our MTB. Originally we just wanted to have a snack in the organic farm café next door, but we spontaneously changed our mind and decided to eat something “real”. We were a little early for lunch (11:05), so we bridged the waiting time in a shady spot in the beer garden with a cool wheat beer and took our time choosing something delicious from the extensive menu. The selection is more than decent, everyone can find something here. The choice fell on the wild boar goulash with yeast dumplings and the spinach and chard dumplings with chicken fillet. Short and painless: incredibly tasty 😋 I think the concept of self-service and table service is great, so you don't have to wait for service to place another order or pay, even at peak times. Very cozy location (really rustic inside too), delicious food, fair prices, nice service. What more do you want! We will definitely come back here 🙌🏻

If you're having a nice canoe trip on the Brenz, it's definitely worth getting out at the Talschenke, the food is always excellent as is the service.

Nice but self-service and roast beef etc. made from pork sauce is not for Muslims or who don't eat pork and the prices have also risen really high

We were positively surprised by this great place to stop for a break after a wonderful hike. Staff was friendly and quick, food was delicious and prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was very idyllic and relaxed, but I can imagine that there would be a bit more going on here on the weekends/holidays...

Down-to-earth gardening under shady trees. Highly recommended after a hike through the Edelsburger Valley. The portions are large, the prices are reasonable.

Nicely done, and there is also a playground for children. Service was probably overloaded that day, but the service person who brought the food was very friendly. We had 2 drinks and 2x Swabian cheese spaetzle which were served in a metal pan on a wooden board (looks great) for around €42…. However, the word “Swabian” was taken too seriously when it came to cheese spaetzle and unfortunately there was hardly any cheese in the pan! My child (3) really likes cheese spaetzle but she didn't even want to eat it and that says it all... By the way, we've been there twice and the first time wasn't any better (except for the weather) By the way, parking is also subject to a fee

I love driving from Gundelfingen along the Brenz into the Eselsburger Valley. Beautiful route... and a stop at Eselsburger Talschenķe is a must. Well organized beer garden, all dishes available in large and small sizes. Tastes very tasty. We will be back.

We ended up here while on a bike tour. We liked the self-service beer garden at first glance because of its idyllic location on the Brenz. We were pleasantly surprised by the food. The Schlutzkrapfen were a poem 😋.

I've never had anything like this on a plate before!!! The most expensive meal on the menu but so terribly bad that you couldn't eat it!!!!! Each wild boar goulash was so flexible that you couldn't get it out of your mouth. The sour kidneys also looked like soup. Salad had almost no dressing. In addition, the plates were smeared when they were served and we had enough of that alone. It's a real shame that you can't upload a picture of it here. Never, never never again....👎👎👎👎👎👎

Very good selection of small and large dishes. Friendly, smiling and helpful staff. Only 4 points for the service because ordering was self-service. Beautiful beer garden that invites you to linger. Coffee and homemade cakes/tarts are highly recommended.

Delicious roast pork. The normal portion is very generous. The Königsbräu on tap was delicious. After a nice walk in the Eselsburger Valley, it's a great place to stay. We will be back!

The ambience is perfect. Very nicely located restaurant, the seating is also great. One star deducted because the tables weren't cleaned even though there was very little going on. There is actually no service. You have to go to the counter, order everything, pay in advance and give the table number. You have to take the drinks with you straight away. The food is brought to the table. You have to clear it yourself. So you don't even get asked if you liked it. The food was subpar. The small mixed salad. Leaves are far too large with black spots and very sandy, simply unloving, inadequate. The wild boar ragout was tough, how you get something like that, I have no idea. The side dish, yeast dumplings, were inedible, very dry, like rubber, and also poor quality. The only thing was the Kässpäzle, which was ok. My wife gives them a satisfactory one. The salad with the Kässpätzle was also bland. All in all, the way it looked and tasted, finished products. For me it has nothing to do with cooking. It's a shame for this great area and the great location.

The Talschänke is a wonderfully beautiful place in the Eselsburger Valley directly on the Brenz. You can eat and drink comfortably under trees and in the shade in summer. The food (tripe with fried potatoes; yes, not everyone likes it ;-) ) was tasty and the portion was well chosen. The only drawback is the service. The two of us sat outside. There was also a couple in the beer garden. Maybe 20 people inside. The young waiter tried very hard to provide service, but the landlord quickly thwarted him. It has to be said that it is self-service. Food is brought. While paying, my friend ordered an espresso, which the young waiter also brought. The host's reaction: "Who ordered the espresso? Please pick it up at the counter." And there were just the two of us in the beer garden. Okay, if it's packed in the summer, I understand that. But that's how it would have to be handled dynamically. Nevertheless, I will go again. Maybe something will change. 😉

We were there for lunch last Sunday. We arrived at 11:15 a.m. and still had a good choice of seats (reservations in the beer garden are only possible for large groups). The beer garden is self-service. The food is brought to the table. It was very tasty and large portions. We had breaded schnitzel with fries (normal portion is 2 relatively large schnitzels), roast beef (3 or 4 slices of meat) with spaetzle and cheese spaetzle with salad. We were all fed up and the atmosphere there is also very nice. The prices are more than reasonable and there is a small playground for children right in the middle of the beer garden. The only drawback was that the directly adjacent parking lot is subject to a fee. Next time we will use a free hiking parking lot.

After a strenuous bike ride, I arrived at Eselsburg hungry. Scanning the menu didn't work. No problem. Once a huge sausage salad and Jägerbraten were there within 15 minutes. With drinks under 20 euros per person. Fits. It was delicious 😋

We stopped in after hiking and the atmosphere is very cozy and there are plenty of seating options. There is also a playground for the little ones. You have to order the food and drinks at the counter, which I don't think is a bad thing. The food came quickly, the sausage salad was good. The fries tend to be soft in the fryer for a little longer and the problem would be solved, but they would be well seasoned. The large salad was from the bag and the chicken was also from pressed meat from the frozen counter. The dressing wasn't really spicy and the salad also had very unpleasant things in it. For almost 16 euros, that's too expensive. There's an organic market next door, so I wonder why this quality. Unfortunately, it's a shame. Would go again but wouldn't order a salad again.

The inn is beautifully located with a large beer garden. Self-service is only available outside. You will be served inside. The food you ordered takes a long time to arrive. The large portion is quite usual, so order a smaller portion for normal hunger. The food I had wasn't that good, the spaetzle wasn't homemade, the mushrooms were too much, the meat was somewhat edible. All in all the food is not recommended, but it's also a matter of taste. So I would just have a drink here, but the prices are a bit high...

It's a shame, a shame, as beautiful as the overall impression of the location and the surrounding area is, the food we ordered - garden salad with porcini mushroom dumplings - unfortunately didn't live up to this impression. Unpleasant and almost tasteless salad dressing and partly burnt porcini mushroom dumplings. This certainly won't stop us from further visits. Maybe the chef was just having a bad day. W. Mallock

Nice environment but extremely busy with long queues. It would be better if there wasn't one person serving and accepting the food. At least during peak hours. Food then comes to the table rather cool. A pity.

Have been here a few times and mostly satisfied. Unfortunately, the quality of service deteriorates. We ordered coffee and cake and the young waitress didn't "manage" to bring us both at the same time. By the time the cake (which was ready in the display case 2m from our table) arrived, our coffee was long cold. By the way, the cake was bone dry... Added to this is the underground condition of the women's toilet... So I think we will avoid the Eselsburger Talschenke for a while. A pity....

Very large and beautiful beer garden with playground! Food was also very good, unfortunately self-service with immediate payment. Were there for a birthday party and everyone had to pay for their drinks straight away. It would be good if the bill was based on the table number. Went for coffee and cake today 02/24, I have to say the prices have risen quite a bit thanks to our government!!!

Were there specifically today, it was simply closed. The restaurant was listed as open on Google. And on the homepage there was only a small picture that we hadn't seen. It's annoying when you have to travel an extra half hour!

Een pareltje in Eselsburg! We maakten een tussenstop en zochten op Google maps naar een restaurant in de buurt! Wat een mooi gebied en een karakteristiek restaurant hebben we gevonden geweldig lekker eten en snelle bediening en vriendelijke service. Ik kom zeker een keer terug!

Ein absolut toller Biergarten direkt an der Brenz. Kanu- und SUPfahrer können dort aussteigen und Rast machen. Ein kleiner Holzsteg und eine Möglichkeit zum festbinden wäre hier noch hilfreich.

Hatten für eine kleine Feier den Nebenraum/ Terrasse. * Ambiente = 👍. * Kaffee gut, Kuchen fragwürdig. * Abendessen soweit gut. Der Bedienservice ließ mächtig zu Wünschen übrig. 👎 Einige Gäste saßen buchstäblich auf dem Trockenen weil sich keiner darum kümmerte für Nachschub zu sorgen. Man musste sich quasi selber darum kümmern. Alle Gäste haben sich diesbezüglich schon sehr gewundert wie man hier bedient wird. 🤔 Schade.
