We were there without a reservation and so there was only one space left in the winter garden. It was very busy, but the waitresses were still very friendly. The food was very good. If I'm ever in the area again, this place will definitely be my first choice.

Great location on Gehrenberg, with one of the most beautiful beer gardens in the region. The panoramic view of Lake Constance, the Swiss Alps with Säntis, is always great. Very friendly staff and the food is delicious. I'd love to come here.

Food very tasty, but menu rather “clear” and a bit unusual, but interesting. Dessert menu too short. Service was very friendly and accommodating. The ambience inside is not really cozy, but a bit loud, but the beer garden is great, with a view of Markdorf, the Alps and Lake Constance, but the chairs here are a bit uncomfortable, at least for tall people.

Fantastic place to celebrate. Thanks to the warm and active team, we were able to experience fantastic hours in a great atmosphere and with delicious food and drinks on the evening of our great silver wedding anniversary. Thanks to the great team. It was great!

The food was good but the steak was a bit too dry and small. This could be spiced up a bit with the herb butter. For 20 euros per plate we expected a little more. That's why only four stars

It was our first time here and we chose the restaurant because we were impressed by the variety of weights and wanted to eat something that wasn't necessarily standard. We sat in the beer garden, the view is wonderful and it was relatively cool in midsummer. Even though we arrived very early, there were hardly any seats available and everything was reserved. The food was excellent, the waitresses were very friendly and accommodating. Overall, a very good stay that we would happily repeat if we were in the area.

First destination when we go to Lake Constance: Gehrenberg!!!.....just a wonderful destination for us for years. The food was delicious, the service was great, the view was great and even our dog was immediately provided with water and homemade snacks. We'll be back 🎉🎈

A very nice place. They provided us with a table for 12 people and 2 babies on the same day we called. The food was delicious. The waitress's attention was excellent and when we didn't finish some dishes, they saved them for us to take away. Das Essen war kalt und hat auch nicht geschmeckt. Die Zutaten waren nicht frisch sondern wohl schon des Öfteren in der Mikrowelle erhitzt. Die Bedienung auffallend gleichgültig. Wir werden dieses Wirtshaus nicht mehr besuchen.

Während unseres Bodenseekurzurlaubs das kulinarische Highlight ! Etwas abgelegen und von außen total unauffällig, aber mit tollem Biergarten und wunderschönen Ausblick auf den Bodensee. Die Speisekarte überschaulich, das macht aber nichts, da die Qualität absolut spitze ist. Auch preislich noch annehmbar, was man von nicht vielen Locations rund um den Bodensee behaupten kann ! Beim nächsten Besuch am See definitiv auf der To-do-Liste !

Very nice beer garden with a view of Lake Constance. In bad weather there is a nice indoor area with a glass roof. Nice service, good selection (gluten-free, vegetarian, Swabian specialties). Only the lack of allergen labeling on the menu results in a point deduction.

Very friendly staff. The food is good and the portions are huge. A portion of side fries is actually a whole meal. But what is particularly worth mentioning is the ambience. The winter garden protects you from the weather and the view over Lake Constance to the Alps is beautiful. We recommend

The Wirtshaus am Gehrenberg is a very successful mix tour of a high-quality restaurant and event location with an arthouse cinema as well as a musical and cabaret program. No other house around Lake Constance covers this spectrum of artistic events. Time and time again, great artists are brought to this region and made more tangible and understandable while being absolutely entertaining. Any time again and absolutely recommended.

A fantastic view combined with a beer garden atmosphere is very tempting and led us to visit this location because of the good reviews. When the weather was nice, this great spot was very busy, so we were happy to wait almost an hour for our food. Veal schnitzel in Grana Padano egg casing with fruity, spicy tomato spaghetti with mushrooms, peppers, ham, vegetables sounds tempting - and the visual impression was also positive, apart from the very small, two breaded veal schnitzels (~ 8 × 5 cm). Hey, maybe it was a lesson for me not to taste meat from small animals in the future - my wife protested about this, and not without reason. For me, what took place is simply subterranean for a well-rated restaurant. The meat hidden under the egg breading was extremely tough, which was evident when it was cut. The first bite was difficult to chew. I spontaneously called the very friendly waitress over, who brought the food back to the kitchen with the complaint “Much too tough for a veal schnitzel!” After that, another half hour of waiting time passed until the food we complained about found its way back to us. In the meantime, my wife had completely eaten the food that was already served to her. The fact that it takes time to prepare such a meal again is not an issue, but it should be given high priority in connection with the complaint and the quality should be in really good condition afterwards. The waiter offered to hand me a steak knife with the meat, which I politely declined - he actually assumed that the tough meat was a mistake and that impeccable quality would now be handed over. But that was a massive fallacy - according to the waiter, I was served the same meat in new breading (reason according to him: “Meat not cooked through!”?), while the waitress shouted, “No! - that a new product was prepared!” – who was right? The fact is, the second meat was just as tiny and tough as the first (with about 30% egg breading overlay, just visually within the size tolerance), and the annoyed waiter demonstrated to me with the steak knife that it could be cut easily instead Finding words of regret. The fact that I found some cartilage in the first bite, which I cut off with a lot of muscle strength, was the final kick for me! I had definitely lost my appetite - the consequence was to pay quickly and leave, which was done after another 10 minutes. Sorry - This restaurant should urgently reorganize its entire quality structure - because the standard basics are excellent and in our case the rest is unfortunately inadequate, apart from the very friendly, young service!

High quality food and decent portions too. With the right place in the beer garden you have a beautiful panorama of Lake Constance. Highly recommended.

We've been going here since probably 20 years or so and the food has always been great. Staff is friendly and the choice of menu is fine. I do recommend the apple crumble for dessert!

Great location: The highlight is of course the view, especially when it's beer garden weather. Really nice! The food is impressive because of the really generous portions - the taste is okay, but for the prices you could have expected a little more sophistication. An Italian bread salad for 15 € (!) and if you want it with 3 (!) slices of ham from the local pork, the salad costs 18 €. But hello! A small (!), thin (!) slice of ham €1? Regional products - great! - but that makes you a little bit disheartened. Absolute plus point: The service is without exception very, very friendly, attentive and quick!

We ate there for the second time today. This time we sat outside on the terrace. The view there, of Lake Constance and the mountains in the background, is simply fantastic. The service was, as always, very friendly. Our dog was immediately given a bowl of water without asking. The food was delicious as always. There is something for everyone. The Wirtshaus am Gehrenberg can only be recommended.

Was there many years ago and Gerstner was there again. Hardly anything has changed but highly recommended In terms of the outlook and the dishes.

How this restaurant gets its good reviews is a mystery to me. We were very disappointed last night, across the board. The table reservation didn't work despite calling afterwards. The way we dealt with this error was unprecedented because it was also blamed on us ("Do you know how many reservations we have?"). Only the service person at the table was very friendly. Then the food came, which simply wasn't good, there's nothing to gloss over. In the case of the spring bowl, the red cabbage salad was completely over-salted and therefore inedible, the roast pork had a sauce from the package, and the dish was correspondingly bland. The rest of the dishes weren't exactly cooked with love either. We will not enter this house again. But we don't have to, apparently there are enough guests.

The food is absolutely amazing. The portions are large, lots of choice, also for vegetarians/vegans. The service is nice, the food comes to the table quickly. In summer it is possible to eat in the beer garden with a view of the lake. Gladly again.

From the outside you wouldn't expect such a great location!!! The hammer! A huge winter garden offers a view of Lake Constance and the Alps! A great beer garden under old plant trees, which will certainly provide beautiful shade in summer with a fantastic view! You are greeted and served so friendly, vegetarians are not neglected, my pumpkin soup and the moussaka casserole were incredibly delicious!!! I'll be back !

A very pleasant atmosphere. Cozy dining area with bar and a cute winter garden with a view (especially beautiful at sunset). There is a great selection of traditional and modern dishes - also with vegetarian/vegan options. Highly recommended are the sweet potatoes with vegetables and a coconut milk sauce and the pistachio cake for dessert. A dream! The staff is also super friendly and helpful. The missing star in the food comes from the fact that I personally found the moussaka to be lacking something in terms of taste.

The proximity to the adjacent cinema offers an additional attraction that makes the visit a completely successful experience.

Mein erwartet außerhalb des Ortes nicht unbedingt so ein nettes Lokal, toller Ausblick, geniales Speisekarte und das Theaterstadl direkt daneben, Klasse!

Wir sind heute auf ein Samstag 18Uhr spontan in das Wirtshaus ohne! Reservierung, unser Hotelrestaurant war geschlossen, und wurden von einem sehr freundlichen Mitarbeiter empfangen. Es war sehr voll, doch nach 5min bekamen wir für uns 2 den ,,Nottisch" 😄 im oberen Stock..super, vielen Dank 🙂 Kaum saßen wir, stand auch ein kleiner Teller mit Hausgem. Brot und Quark vor uns. Wir hatten Schweinenackensteak, ein kleiner Salat und Riesenportion Pommes und Maultaschen mit Hausgem.Kartoffelsalat und einer sehr vielseitigen großen Salatbeilage. Das Personal war sehr freundlich trotz der Hektik die herrschte. Das Wirtshaus empfand ich als sehr gemütlich. Über den Ausblick kann ich nichts sagen, Januar 18uhr 😉 Großer Parkplatz direkt daneben.

Eine bessere Location mit freier Seesicht gibt es m.E. in Markdorf nicht. Wer nun denkt, dass das Restaurant nur vom Ausblick lebt, liegt vollkommen falsch. Das Essen ist wunderbar delikat. Einige Gerichte halten sich bereits seit über 20 Jahren auf der Karte (z.B. italienischer Brotsalat) bei gleichbleibend sehr guter Qualität. Das Ambiente und Klientel ist wie damals voll gemischt mit der Besonderheit, dass sich absolut jeder wohl fühlt. Ob auf ein gesprächiges Bier am Abend oder Essen mit der Familie... hier kann man immer hin (Familien besser reservieren). Ich empfehle auch die Aktivitäten des nebenan liegenden Theaterstadels (wem es gefällt). Ich find´s einfach super, dass so etwas zur heutigen zeit noch geboten wird.

Total leckeres Essen.... danach besteht dann hin und wieder noch die Möglichkeit Veranstaltungen zu besuchen... diesbezüglich vorher informieren

Ein gemütlicher Sonntag. Ohne Reservierung einen schönen Platz bekommen. Freundliche Bedienung, super schnell, nette Beratung und das Essen war sehr gut. Man merkt einfach den Unterschied: gute regionale Zutaten mit Biosiegel. Außerdem kinderfreundlich - auch die Gerichte :)

Klasse Restaurant mit etwas anderer Küche. Wer mal etwas anderes möchte als Alltagsküche wird hier fündig. Abwechslungsreich, manchmal auch etwas exotisch, oder auch aufgepeppter Standard (z.B. Burger mit Cole-Slaw Salat und Wedges - ein Traum). Super, macht weiter so! Ergänzung 2023: das Fleisch ist aus der Region und oft auch Bio. Wer einen Bio Zwiebelrostbraten möchte: hier gibt es ihn. Auch sehr zu empfehlen: Moussaka (wenn auf der Karte, ein vegetarischer Traum 😋)

Sehr gemütliche Wirtschaft mit tollen Blick auf den Bodensee. Leckeres Essen und sehr nettes Personal. Sehr schön ist auch das abwechslungsreiche Programm im Stadl.

Seit Jahrzehnten ein tolles Lokal mit Livebühne nebenan. Das Essen und der Service immer noch super. Der Einrichtung stünde eine Erneuerung gut zu Gesicht. Unschlagbar der Biergarten mit Blick auf den See.

Sehr nettes Personal, leckeres Essen mit fantastischen Blick auf den Bodensee. Toller Biergarten. Innenraum wäre schön, wenn alles mal renoviert werden würde - inzwischen etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Trotzdem sitzt man gemütlich.

Super Blick auf den See, schöner Biergarten, Lokal im Wintergarten auch mit schönem Blick auf den Bodensee, Essen Super lecker, keine Konservierungsmittel im Essen, grosse Kuchenauswahl , ...kann man auch zu Fuß gut erreichen, Parkplätze genügend vorhanden.. jederzeit wieder

Das Wirtshaus läd vor allem mit seiner Sicht über den Bodensee von der Terrasse aber dank des Panoramafensters auch von Drinnen ein. Aber auch das Essen ist überzeugend. Die Karte ist regional und saisonal. Für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei. Bisher hat jede Komposition aus der Küche sehr gut geschmeckt. Der Service ist auch sehr gut. Für Hunde gibt es selbstgemachte Leckerlies und einen Napf Wasser...

Ich war mal wieder mit meiner Freundin Jenny in einem Restaurant und es war DIE Erfahrung unseres Lebens. Wir beide hatten die Spirelli. Diese spirelli waren so eine tolle Erfahrung, dass Jenny fast in die Luft gesprungen wäre. Zum trinken hatten wir beide ein maracuja Schorle. Dieses war auch sehr geschmackvoll produziert. Es war mal wieder eine tolle Erfahrung und ich freue mich auf das nächste Essen mit Jenny
