Due to a misunderstanding, our party of eight only had a 60-minute window for dinner. A complimentary shot of schnapps was a nice gesture, but it didn't really improve the overall impression. The food itself was worthy of four stars, but the tarte flambée was at most two stars – still adequately baked, especially since it was initially forgotten.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ We spontaneously decided to visit Wortshaus am Dom in Augsburg on a Monday evening at the end of December and easily got a table for two. The food was perfectly fine. I had the cheese schnitzel. It tasted delicious, but the portion was rather small for €21.90. You'll be satisfied, but don't come with a huge appetite. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Overall, a solid restaurant. We would theoretically eat there again if we were to visit Augsburg again. However, I found it a bit disappointing that a brewery in a city with its own brewing tradition served beer from Munich. All in all, okay.

The Wirtshaus am Dom is centrally located. The restaurant is comfortably furnished. Outside, there's a lovely terrace with little traffic noise. The food selection is extensive. The pork knuckle is highly recommended. Among the beers served are products from the Andechser Brewery. Those who want to gamble with their life can try the "Gnadenlos" currywurst. Be careful: the spiciness is hard to describe. The service is friendly. Therefore: top marks!

Monday evening at 5:30 pm, we received a friendly welcome, but after we (two people) replied that we weren't sure if we wanted just a beer or to stay for dinner, we were suddenly told, "Sorry, no tables available." The tables were at most 30% full, and we had overheard a phone call beforehand informing us that a reservation had been canceled. This is completely unacceptable!

Oh dear! As day visitors to Augsburg, we were in the mood for a typical Bavarian restaurant for lunch – with outdoor seating, no less. Yesterday, the Wirtshaus am Dom seemed like the perfect place. The young waitress – great in traditional lederhosen – served quickly and pleasantly, which was good. Well, and then the kitchen got its chance to show what it was made of. And that was a disappointment. The zander was well-cooked on the skin, but the accompanying fried potatoes were soggy and were rejected. The knuckle of pork was a complete disappointment: initially promising visual delight, it quickly whetted our appetite: the crispy crust was beautiful to look at and tasted quite good. But the "inside" – a disaster! Apparently undercooked, you had to wrestle with something crisscrossed with an abnormally high number of inseparable tendons, which completely ruined your appetite. You slashed like you were on rubber, only to finally give up in frustration. Looking around, you saw that other guests were having the same problem. The waiter asked if they enjoyed their food, but based on the picture on the plates, he could have answered it himself...

Nice beer garden/terrace with good food. I had the knuckle of pork, which was nice and crispy. However, I would have liked one more dumpling. The portion, however, is quite generous thanks to the knuckle. The Monday special for €13.90 is also very good value (regular price €18.90). Unfortunately, you don't get a view of the cathedral, but the terrace is still a very comfortable and quiet spot. It's divided over three levels, so you never feel like there's a lot of hustle and bustle around you.

We had lunch here today...the portions were large but the onion roast, which cost 29.90 euros, was tough as leather and I should have returned it and the onions were cheap onions from a ready-made can...all in all, the dish was completely wrong...the other dishes (cheese spaetzle and chanterelle mushrooms in cream sauce with pork strips were more or less okay...but we won't be coming here again for dinner

The Zwiebelrostbraten (onion roast beef) was served with Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle). The Käsespätzle and the onions were good, but the steak was a bit tough. Since the food came really quickly, it felt like a mass-processed meal, which was noticeable in the steak. The server was very friendly and prompt. Unfortunately, we had a somewhat "unfortunate" seat in the basement next to the restroom, but I don't want to criticize that too much. The area upstairs is very nice and cozy. In the basement, it feels like a few extra seats have been quickly conjured up. Overall, the visit was OK. It's definitely worth eating there sometime.

The service treated me with absolute condescension and not like a guest. My request for my main course to be served as an appetizer was ridiculed in front of my colleagues. The fried chicken salad tasted okay, but the fried chicken was cold and not worth the price. I would not recommend this restaurant, especially because of the unfriendly service.

The Münchner weisswürste were without parsley, lemon and spices. The Brezn was dry, like sawdust. First we asked for the bill and we paid. The first bill was electronic so we asked for a bill on paper. When we got it it was 1.60 € too high. We asked to speak to the manager. He was loud and unfriendly and he more or less threw 2€ in my hand and told me to leave.

The atmosphere is very sad. The outside area is lined with alcoholics who spent both today and yesterday there. You could hear that from the conversations. On a positive note, you could also describe them as regular customers. We ordered a burger and a salad. For €19, the burger doesn't come with a side dish. But you expect quality for that price. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The salad with grilled and marinated vegetables was very, very dry. It had obviously been prepared due to time constraints and everything had been kept refrigerated because of the temperatures. Which of course detracts from the taste. With it were two dry slices of baguette. For almost €17, it's really too expensive and the quality is too bad. A real shame. We relied on the good reviews here.

Thank you very much... never again. The name is also misleading. The restaurant isn't "at the cathedral," but a 5-minute walk away. It's worth knowing.
