Wirtshaus am Dom in Augsburg

Ate a decent burger with fries and spaetzle on the sun terrace today, everything was perfect!

We were there on October 26th. Went there with 4 adults without a reservation and were lucky to get a table. An absolute "go to" in Augsburg - without any ifs or buts. Price/performance ratio for the food is right. Ambience typical and inviting. The service is particularly positive and deserves an extra star! Rarely have we experienced such a professional customer approach. Always get the feeling that you are important as a guest and also that the service enjoys their job. It's crazy that no empty phrases or standard phrases were made, but rather offers, suggestions and recommendations tailored to our needs. And all of this while the store was packed with a wild mix of football fans (FCA / BVB), tourists and other hungry/thirsty people. Thank you for a very successful evening and for organizing the taxi! The 7-minute, then 15-minute, then 20-minute beer ordering automation will remain in the memory for a long time. :-)

The food, had a Kasburger. Too small, meat was fried extremely dry. Not recommended. The spicy currywurst has fire but is still edible. It should have been ok. Service, Vivienne, was really good. Always fast and on the go. Beer was good.

Great... the service alone... don't just take it easy and recognize what the guest likes It's easy too... everything here is great!!!

Unfortunately, we weren't 100% satisfied with our dishes and the beer was also a bit stale. The ambience is otherwise quite nice, as you would expect from a pub. For our taste, the vaulted cellar is a bit close to the toilets, which are not in the best condition. It is best to keep the intermediate door closed at all times. Service was friendly. Personally, we like other taverns in Augsburg better, but as we all know, tastes differ.

Classic. Good food. What sets the pace aside from all others is the level of service: amazing, friendly and cordial. Super cool people work here. The room upstairs is great. Dow stairs can get hot, humid and stuffy though.

You feel well looked after here, the waitresses are all very nice and always happy to have fun, which makes you want to come back all the more

I’ve made a reservation online to eat there. I went to the restaurant at the hour and they didn’t want that we eat there. They said that we didn’t make a reservation. I showed them the confirmation and they refused us. Maybe because we are tourist ? They didn’t want to talk in English.

Unfortunately the knuckle was totally tough, almost inedible. The waiter's answer was simply "It's the pig's fault." The floor was sticky because “a beer was spilled the day before and they tried to clean the floor twice”!? Overall not recommended.

Like the two times before, we were served courteously, the waitresses were very friendly and our order was served quite quickly today, even though the restaurant was busy. Kudos also to the kitchen, the food was delicious and beautifully prepared.

Super tasty food in a nice restaurant with very friendly service. We found the prices to be very reasonable for the huge portions. If we are in Augsburg again, we will definitely stop here again.

Very nice service, nice seats outside. The food was just ok, large portions, not very seasoned, overpriced for the quality. Chanterelles frozen, meat dry, spaetzle quite good, sauce like it was made.

Attentive and uncomplicated service despite our (not always quiet) children. Drinks and food at the right time and super tasty. German (Austrian) cuisine in Augsburg is highly recommended.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A culinary highlight in the heart of Augsburg! The Wirtshaus am Dom really impressed me. The food was absolutely delicious - from the starter to the dessert, every bite was impressive. The traditional dishes are particularly enjoyable here. The atmosphere in the inn is warm and inviting, just the right thing to spend a lovely evening. The furnishings are cozy and lovingly designed, which makes your stay very pleasant. A big compliment also to the friendly waitress, who looked after us excellently throughout the evening. The service was attentive, quick and always with a smile - you really feel welcome as a guest. I can highly recommend the Wirtshaus am Dom and will definitely be back soon. An absolute must for anyone who appreciates good food and a great atmosphere!

The roast was very small and the sauce that came with it was completely unacceptable and tasteless. The spaetzle, which was not homemade, was neutral. The price for such a meal was completely unreasonable.

Dirty service staff, well what it looks like in the kitchen. Flabby announcement from the tenant. So I drank the beer quickly and didn't order anything.

After we sat down on the terrace in the wonderful sunshine, the landlord came promptly with the menu. To my friendly "I just want something to drink" he responded arrogantly and spontaneously "I hope it only lasts half an hour, after that I'll be completely booked out". That's why the menu, right... we left

We are used to completely different things from Cologne breweries and found it quite funny on this one visit. Don't look long for parking spaces, there is a parking garage directly opposite. Unfortunately, the food was cold and the quantity was smaller than in the photos posted here (e.g. only 1 dumpling, far too little sauce, etc.). The service was quite unfriendly (including a racist comment) and people were generally processed quickly, like in a fast food restaurant. In addition, the tables outside were very wobbly and the space was rather suboptimal. At these prices I imagine a different quality of food and treatment/service! Better not again!

I've never had a bad-tempered Viennese waiter work so professionally. The insult was true and of course he sold more than I wanted!

We discovered the place by chance yesterday. The service was super friendly, drinks and food came quickly and it was super tasty. We will stay here more often when we are in Augsburg. Thank you very much. 😊

A typical Bavarian beer garden. Nice to see from afar. Surrounded by high houses and walls, which unfortunately dampen the cozy atmosphere. The waiter impresses with tavern humor that I'm not susceptible to. But he was attentive. My spring salad with beef fillet and melon was not a visual highlight. The taste was super spicy, which wasn't advertised. Plus, it consisted almost entirely of green salad smothered in sauce. Unfortunately not a recommendation, my expectations, also based on the rating and the appearance, were much higher.

The best decision was to celebrate my birthday here… Food is a true poem. There is no wish left... You can tell that fresh ingredients are used here and the kitchen brings out the best. The service is professional and the kitchen presents the food on the plate in harmony and ingenuity. In the future we will only come here to eat...

Unfortunately, the last visit was not very pleasant. You sit in front of empty plates and glasses, despite the empty restaurant you get the worst possible seat. Service simply underground and haphazard

We were able to enjoy dinner here with our 15 students and can say: everyone was completely thrilled. An appealing atmosphere, an attentive and friendly service (simply wonderful) and a fabulous quality of food at reasonable prices convinced everyone. No matter the food, everyone enjoyed it without exception! Thank you for a wonderful evening!

A few days in Augsburg, we discovered the Wirtshaus am Dom with a beer garden and immediately felt at home there. We got a table where the 8 of us could sit and it immediately became our regular table!! Very, very tasty food and a beer that tasted good. The waiter was a highlight with whom you could have great fun and laugh 😉. Simply recommended.

Today with a larger group there. The service was good, but when it got busy the drinks took longer. For example, one of the two espressos we ordered came about 4 minutes before the other. The first without a classic water glass just on the saucer, the second on a small tray with a water glass. The food is ok, but not really outstanding, especially given the price. The Viennese style veal schnitzel was very tough for its 28 euros. The €15.50 for the cheese spaetzle is rather steep given the quantity, especially when the fried onions are out of the bucket and obviously not homemade. The pork knuckle was rather smaller, but crispy, but also very dry. A few minutes less probably would have done wonders. Drinks are also not cheap at €4.90 per 0.5l (beer, juice spritzer etc) and €4.70 per 0.5l of sparkling water. Positive: A scoop of ice cream, regardless of the combination, with a little cream costs €2. That is fair and appropriate. Also negative: there is rather loud music, sometimes hectic. It's very loud in the restaurant because you want to have a conversation and that's what everyone wants... Conclusion: A knuckle, two cheese spaetzle, one Wiener schnitzel, 3 scoops of ice cream, an espresso and 6 drinks for around €112 plus tip. That's rather expensive for average food at best. If everything had been good, the price would be right, but the fried onions, for example, just show a certain laziness in the kitchen. Also negative: no children's meals, no fries, no children's portions, etc. You could add something else to the menu. Therefore kindly meant 3 stars.

I've been to the restaurant several times. For meeting friends and a family celebration. On every visit, the staff was very attentive, super friendly and in a good mood, despite the restaurant being full. The food is delicious and the price-performance ratio is absolutely reasonable. You just feel welcome here and would love to come back!!!

Reception with an evil eye: not reserved!!! Oh dear, even worse: two quick ones 🍻? “We are a restaurant, monsieur!!!” and if looks could kill... and since the ventilation apparently doesn't work and we didn't want to suffer death from staring or suffocation: Au revoir et bonne Chance, M. le Patron🤷🏼‍♂️.

Unfortunately I only give it 2 stars. First of all, the service and the ambience were 5 stars. Everything great! Unfortunately my meal was disappointing. I had a schnitzel with asparagus and potatoes. Unfortunately, the asparagus was completely tasteless, simply not of good quality. The same applied to the schnitzel, it simply wasn't of good quality, it was tough and bad. And all of this at a really high price, so I have different expectations. Maybe because the plate looked really good. Since I'm just a guest in the city, it's just a visit. I would probably give the restaurant a second chance because the other reviews as well as other guests at the neighboring tables seemed satisfied.

40 meters from our hotel, we made a reservation for dinner (at 7pm, a bit late in these parts). The staff is friendly and the food excellent. A truly high quality schnitzel, accompanied by a mixture of potatoes and cucumbers, a real discovery for me. We ordered Coca-Cola and they brought us Afrocola and so we discovered that this drink has been entirely produced in Germany since 1931. Let's move on to dessert: sublime! An excellent Kaiserschmarrn, basically it is a slightly tall crêpes cut into pieces and served with icing sugar, whipped cream and blackcurrant jam. Vote 10!

Very nice Bavarian inn. We were there at Doppelbock time and had delicious roulade and goulash with Bock beer sauce. First of all, a very strong fried spaetzle soup. “Ilya”, our waiter, was VERY nice, courteous and eloquent. Service is always crucial when visiting a restaurant… and this one was great. It's the little things that make it. You notice that you are dealing with a professional. Kaiserschmarren is also highly recommended :-) Gladly again.
