Wirtshaus Alexander in Reichelsheim (Odenwald)

During a visit to a local chocolate factory in the spring, we subsequently visited this restaurant. We were very pleasantly surprised by the hospitality and the excellent food we selected from the extensive menu. We repeated this experience in the autumn, making the same visits as before. However, we noticed that some things had changed: the menu was different, with fewer dishes. But what we did eat was once again delicious. It was just a shame that our expectations from the spring weren't met.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the extremely delicious food, considering it's essentially just a snack bar. The rump steak and schnitzel were excellent, perfectly cooked and seasoned. It's rare that I don't need to add more salt or pepper. If you're hungry, you should order the upgraded schnitzel! Attentive, friendly service. A great view of the Odenwald forest outside. I'd gladly go back.

I ate there several years ago. It was fantastic back then. I wanted to eat there again today. There was only a strange snack menu with Berliner meatballs and Ukrainian soup. Everything was overpriced. I waited 20 minutes for service. But no one came, even though it was hardly busy. I left. Very disappointing!

The food was incredibly delicious, and they also offer several vegetarian and vegan dishes. The ambiance inside was nothing special, but the outside was absolutely fantastic. Kudos to the gentleman who served us for his friendly Rhineland (?) manner and his outstanding friendliness!

Dogs are welcome on the terrace. Water was available right in the warm weather. Top-notch service.

We had lunch at the restaurant (smaller lunch menu). We enjoyed the food very much. The Ukrainian solyanka is highly recommended! The very friendly service and the great view from the terrace also impressed us; we would be happy to come back.

As a hotel, the place may be fine, but unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it for food. I've rarely had such a bad meal as in this restaurant. It's usual for the waiter to ask if you enjoyed your meal, but everything was fine. Nothing like that. After all, they don't want to be lied to, because you'd have to if you said you enjoyed your meal. The only positive thing, despite everything, was the service. It's a shame, because the restaurant's location is very nice.

We stayed at the hotel for one night and ate there. The steak was delicious and highly recommended. The terrace is beautiful and the staff is friendly. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is very comfortable. There's plenty of room for children to play.

There was only a snack menu at 12:30 p.m. €15 for a warmed butcher's meatball with mashed potatoes and a small salad is pretty steep. Why it's called a "Berliner Boulette" in an Odenwald restaurant isn't really clear to me. The green sauce with five potatoes, an egg, and a small bowl of green sauce for €11 is also decent. The service and delivery are fine.

Convenience is his father. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. First of all: it was most likely not homemade; it all tasted and looked like frozen food from Metro. Cheese platter as an appetizer; cheese was okay, two varieties. The bread was almost certainly Aldi sliced ​​bread from a bag. Venison sausage with mashed potatoes – the sausages tasted like they'd just come from the freezer, then thawed in the microwave and briefly fried in a lot of oil. Accordingly, it was tough (yes, I know that game is firmer meat). The mash was either from a bag or a very strange preparation, with no seasoning (pepper, nutmeg, etc.?). The sauce tasted like a ready-made powder, certainly not a traditionally reduced sauce, and sometimes inconsistent with oily spots. My meals, however, had nothing in common with what others have posted here. Was the chef sick or was he on a tighter budget? I would have liked to discuss it in person, but unfortunately, I had some communication difficulties with the waitress – who did a great job, though! Atmosphere – wonderfully well-maintained terrace, seating inside is too cramped, a bit dated, but that's okay for me in a farmhouse.

Great views, wonderful peace and quiet, and high-quality regional cuisine. Highly recommended!

Very nice staff. The food is very tasty, although sometimes a bit expensive for the portion, but the prices have increased everywhere. The ambience inside is rustic and cozy, the outside terrace is a dream, you have a great view of the beautiful Odenwald. Feel free to come by every now and then.

We celebrated the "New Year" in a small group in the inn and were very well fed. We celebrated the New Year there with a finely tuned 7-course menu and were very satisfied with the food and service.

Absolute catastrophe, we have never eaten so badly, Christmas dinner with 13 people, unfriendly, food lukewarm, goose dish was out at lunchtime at 1 p.m., instead an inedible roulade, side dishes lukewarm to cold, other tables also complained, no dish for doable for a 6 year old. No dish was ok on the small menu. All around an expensive failure and an ignorant staff that speaks little German. Just stop eating there, it's a shame that the quality is still so poor. Never again !

I went hiking with my mother and stopped there. We had the soup, the game with spaetzle and schnitzel with fries. The soup was really very good. The schnitzel was nice and thin and crispy fried as it should be. (See pictures) The game was tender. The view and location are simply great. Will recommend it.

Unfortunately there is only a small selection of food from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., we weren't told that when we arrived and we waited forever for service even though there wasn't much going on. The food itself was okay, nothing special. Vienna sausages with potato salad. The Ukrainian soup was delicious and wasn't actually included in this small lunch menu. In this rather old/rustic place (70s/80s atmosphere) and other impression, I decided on a simple dish. Schnitzel with fries. A typical industrial schnitzel was served, dripping with fat from the deep fryer. In addition, fries that were completely over-seasoned with this terrible “fry seasoning” and were also full of fat. There was also a lemon wedge that was already brown in the middle (unusable, unfortunately not clearly visible in the pictures). No garnish whatsoever. No surprise... it didn't taste good.

Beautiful restaurant with incredible traditional German and Ukrainian dishes. We tried the Solyanka and some other dishes, everything was really tasteful, felt home cooked and down with love. The service also was incredible, our host Henry made us feel really welcome! Prices are very reasonable as well, great place with a gorgeous panoramic view and countryside vibes - highly recommend.

We eat here from time to time and enjoy it because it tastes fresh and natural. It is a cozy atmosphere and in summer it is very nice on the terrace. The staff is always trying hard. However, there is a point deduction because it is not possible to pick up food.

Great location of the inn with a beautiful view. Went by on our bikes to have a quick drink. As we paid and wanted to leave, a young waiter came and cheekily asked if we had even paid. Was a bit strange. Non-alcoholic Hefeweizen was delicious 😋

The large summer terrace with the great view is a dream! Unfortunately we had already eaten something, otherwise we would have liked to have eaten something else there. The small, clear menu was perfect for me, I would have liked to try everything. And kudos to the service...super nice team on the terrace! We'll definitely come back and try out the menu... Addendum: Now we had dinner there... the first disappointment: the table that had been deliberately reserved in advance (shaded area due to 2 dogs and 4 people) was not available to us and was occupied by a party. We were offered an extremely suboptimal alternative. Then at some point a young guy came who pretended to be a waitress. With 4 people and 4 drinks ordered, 3 were finally brought after around 20 minutes. Drink 4 was forgotten. Then he actually asked us if it was intentional that we hadn't placed our food order yet. At that moment he was at our table for the second time... with the forgotten drink. When taking the food order he then informed us that the order we had placed would not work: 3 of the 4 dishes he ordered weren't there...and he was sorry he didn't say it beforehand. But in the end he doesn't make the card. (!) Then we only got 2 of 4 starters afterwards! He probably didn't write down the other two...there was also no cutlery, so we had to get them...the same thing happened at the next table. Then the operation changed and everything became as it theoretically should. Except for drinks orders that are constantly not delivered - seems to be a fundamental problem. And: the shop was empty!!! What do they do when it gets full? But....never again, we were really embarrassed towards our friends who we had been raving about. The food itself really isn't worth it...but our general experience there was sublime!

Waiting to return. We made an unforgettable trip. And we couldn't have chosen the place better. Thank you friend Marcus and Madam.

I ordered salad with steak strips here because there is nothing else that corresponds to the usual menu. It wasn't bad, but if you're hungry for a schnitzel and are only offered various game dishes or smaller meals like salad or baked potatoes, there's no reason for a good review. The excuse was that the kitchen was too small to produce schnitzel there. How do you do that in a fast food restaurant? Prepared schnitzels are freshly fried there and are delicious. My husband was also not happy with a game goulash without flavor or sauce and a lot of spaetzle from the bag. Unfortunately we don't eat here anymore, although the terrace is definitely nice in summer and the landlord is extremely friendly.

You don't have to bother with a game goulash that doesn't taste like game and, strangely enough, is served without sauce. The thimble-sized bowl of cranberries was difficult to remove without the right tools; you either dipped my wife's bread into the bowl or tried in vain to grab something with a fork, overall very unsatisfactory. There is also no menu as you are used to in the Odenwald, no schnitzel or anything similar - when we asked, we were told the kitchen was too small. Then the continuously open kitchen and the very friendly landlord cannot lead to the success of the restaurant - which we are honestly sorry about! We would have liked to have enjoyed a meal here more often...

Very nice and friendly service, great view, the drink we put together was super tasty, as was the food. Highly Recommended. We had soup and roast venison. Strong risk of recurrence despite the long journey.

We came to Alexander through a recommendation and were still pleasantly surprised. With lots of children and special requests, nothing was a problem and everything was possible. Great food, especially the game. We'll definitely be back.

Tolle Terrasse, entspannte Atmosphäre.

Tolles Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Sehr leckeres Essen und eine aufmerksame Bedienung. Sehr kinderfreundlich.

Sehr idyllisch gelegen mit einem tollen Weitblick kann man bei gutem Wetter auf der schönen Terrasse den Tag genießen. Eine kleine aber feine Karte mit regionalen Produkten lädt zum schlemmen ein. Sehr zu empfehlen, auch zum Teilen vorne weg, ist das Landbrot mit Schinkenwürfeln und Käse überbacken. Die Nudeln mit Tomaten-Walnuss-Pesto, der Stramme Max und das Wildgulasch sind köstlichbund wunderbar angerichtet. Zum Abschluss Créme Brulee sowie Marillenschnaps machen den Aufenthalt perfekt. Die Dame vom Service ist einfach nur nett und super sympathisch.

Es war sehr schön, in einer total entspannten Atmosphäre zu sitzen. Das Personal ist sehr nett und man fühlt sich wohl. Das Essen war gut, vielleicht ein bisschen mehr Würze dürfte sein. Gibt nix zu meckern

Das Frühstück war ausgewogen und mit einigen Spezialitäten neben den "klassischen" Brotzeit Favoriten. Auf der Terrasse kann man herrlich sitzen und den Ausblick genießen. Der Service war sehr zuvorkommend und überaus aufmerksam! Auf meine Unverträglichkeiten wurde toll eingegangen und viele Alternativen für mich angeboten. Vielen lieben Dank nochmal!

Super nettes Gasthaus mit sehr freundlichem Chef und Personal (sehr professionell) Essen war lecker, ausreichend und preislich genau richtig. Die Vesperkarte Mittags reicht komplett- hier kann jeder etwas finden! Besonders toll hat uns der Blick von der Terrasse gefallen. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Das Käse-Fondue ist der Hammer! Und das auch bei 22 Grad abends auf der Terrasse 😁 Man schmelzt es selbst aus frischem Käse, Wein, Mondamin und Kirschwasser am Tisch! Wie in der Schweiz 🇨🇭 Das dauert ein wenig, ist aber ein riesiger Spaß und mega lecker. Vielen Dank für den super netten Abend!

Tolle Location, leckeres Essen, nette Leute - was will man mehr?

Ich war am 1 .Mai hier zum Kaffee trinken. Die Bedienung zwei sehr nette junge Frauen. Die Ruhe und die Aussicht auf der Terrasse - super. Der Kaffee gut. Der Kuchen war,obwohl in der Mikrowelle "aufgefrischt" sehr lecker. Aber als ich die Rechnung sah und sah, dass man den ca. 3cm hohen und ca 10x10cm Birne Nuss Kuchen mit 5.50 € berechnet hat, fiel mir doch die Kinnlade herunter. Leider übersteigen solche "Kaffeenachmittagspreise" erheblich mein Budget. Bzw. finde ich einen solchen Preis in Eberbach (nicht das am Ufer des Neckars) und auch wenn ich die allgemeine Preissteigerung mit hinzunehme, mehr als unangemessen. Heute ein Stück "Torte" in einem anderen Café mitgenommen, für 2,70€. Ich nehme mal an, hätte ich es vor Ort verzehrt, hätte ich wahrscheinlich 3,50€ bezahlt. Das ist ein ok Preis für den tiefen Odenwald. In Frankfurt oder am Bodensee muss ich eher andere Preise in Kauf nehmen. Hier nicht!

Ich war zum ersten Mal im Wirtshaus. Unsere wandergruppe sucht immer Lokale die Mittwochsmittags geöffnet haben. Es gab leider nur eine kleine Karte. Eine wunderschöne Terrasse lädt in ruhiger Lage zum verweilen ein. Ein Schnitzel oder Steak sollte jedoch im Angebot sein.

Jeden Tag geöffnet mit gutem Essen, für jeden Geschmack und jeden Geldbeutel etwas dabei. Eignet sich zur Einkehr während einer Wanderung und auch zum Übernachten.

Suppe war lecker. Das Essen sollte Chilli con Reh sein. Leider konnte man das Reh nicht mehr rausschmecken. Da wir das erste Mal hier waren habe ich noch die toll beschriebene Currywurst probiert. Leider war die nicht einmal richtig warm und die Soße war lieblos drauf gespritzt. Meine Frau hatte einen Obazden bestellt. Leider war das Brötchen nicht mehr frisch und dementsprechend hart. Auf Nachfrage erklärte man uns, dass das Brötchen frisch aufgebacken wurde. Damit mussten wir uns zufrieden geben. Hätte man den Obazden in einem Schüsselchen separat serviert, wäre die Situation noch zu retten gewesen. So hat meine Frau halt das halbe Brötchen zurück gehen lassen. Der Tafelspitz war dann okay. Ungewohnt waren die Kartoffeln mit Schale. Zum Ambiente: Das Restaurant ist modern eingerichtet mit rustikalen Möbeln. Leider war die Beleuchtung sehr hell, sodass es insgesamt eher ungemütlich war. Irgendwie hätte ich erwartet, dass von Seiten des Hauses eine kleine Entschuldigung käme, aber dem war nicht so, obwohl wir unsere Unzufriedenheit mehrfach zum Ausdruck gebracht hatten.

Das Essen ist super lecker und das Team sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Dort waren wir bestimmt nicht zum letzten Mal. Das Wirtshaus Alexander ist sehr zu empfehlen.

Unser Besuch war ein Fest! Rustikal eingerichtet, gemütlich, mit viel Holz. Aufmerksame, freundliche Bedienung und die sehr angenehme Atmosphäre empfingen uns bestens! Der absolute Hammer war das Essen: Man stellt sich unter einem "Tafelspitz" etwas gut-bürgerliches vor - weit gefehlt, Küchenchef Gregor überraschte mit einer Kreation, die ich noch nie zuvor gegessen hatte und die überaus köstlich war. Das Bio(!)-Fleisch aus der Region butterzart, die Soße ein einziger Genuss! Meine Partnerin hatte die Empfehlung des Tages, in Speck eingewickeltes Schweinelendchen mit gerösteten Polenta-Schnitten, ebenfalls herausragend komponiert und zubereitet! Eine köstliche Creme Brulée (für Sabine) und ein reichhaltiger, liebevoll dekorierter Käseteller (per me) setzten dem ganzen die Krone auf. Und auch die Weine verdienen - so weit ich das bist jetzt beurteilen kann - eine Empfehlung! Fazit: Alles hier lohnt einen Besuch in dem noch jungen Wirtshaus Alexander, wir waren sehr zufrieden und kommen gerne wieder! Auch angenehm: Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist hervorragend und die Aussicht auf der Terasse nicht weniger als genial! Dass die Portionen nicht für ausgehungerte Sumo-Ringer bemessen sind, empfinden wir ebenfalls als einen Pluspunkt.

Sehr schönes Ambiente und freundliches Servicepersonal. Leckeres Speisenangebot und gepflegte Getränke. War ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt.

Sehr schönes rustikales Wirtshaus mit moderner "Odenwälder Küche". Klassiker wie "Handkäse mit Musik" werden neu interpretiert, Käse, Wild und Fleisch sind aus dem Umfeld des Wirtshauses und der Apfelwein aus dem selben Ort. Auf Wunsch können einige Gerichte sind vegan zubereitet werden. Das Personal des Familienbetriebs ist überaus freundlich und man wird herzlich in Empfang genommen. Wenn man in der Winterzeit noch bei Tageslicht einkehrt, kann man von einem Fensterplatz den grandiosen Ausblick genießen. Für den Sommer sieht die große Terrasse schon vielversprechend aus!
