Das Fassbier war am Sonntag wieder tief unter dem Strich. Die Soße zum Essen war so übertrieben salzig, dass ich sie sogar mit meiner letzten Geschmacksknospe als Kettenraucher noch deutlich gespürt habe. Insgesamt ein enttäuschender Besuch.

Essen und Getränke sehr gut, die Bratensulz ist nicht das was der Oberpfälzer im classischen Sinne erstmal erwarten würde, war aber dennoch sehr lecker 😋 , ist halt mal anders als die herkömmliche tellersulz, alles andere auch lecker, die Portionsgrösse(n) wurden mit Kaltgetränk(en) ausgeglichen😉 Biergarten Top👍 Service👍

Wir waren gestern mit geschlossener Gesellschaft (ca. 300 Personen) im Biergarten. Das Essen war wirklich super, der Service sehr freundlich und die Stimmung sehr ausgelassen. Die Betreiber haben sich sehr viel Mühe gegeben uns bei unserer Veranstaltung einen entspannten Abend zu bereiten! Vielen Dank!

Wir waren zu einer Familienfeier beim Winkler BräuWirt. Leider begann der Besuch bereits mit einem ersten Kritikpunkt: Es gab keine separate Kinderkarte, wodurch es schwierig war, für die Kinder etwas Passendes in einer angemessenen Portionsgröße auszuwählen. Die Bedienung, die uns empfangen und unsere Bestellung aufgenommen hat, war freundlich. Die Kritik richtet sich daher nicht an das Servicepersonal, sondern hauptsächlich an die Küche. Als das Essen serviert wurde, fiel uns schnell auf, dass viele Gerichte sehr stark gewürzt waren. Die Pommes der Kinder waren extrem salzig, und auch die Currywurst war ungewöhnlich scharf. Bei der Bestellung wurde nicht darauf hingewiesen, dass die Currywurst eine deutliche Schärfe hat. Da sich bei fast allen von uns Beschwerden über die starke Würzung des Essens ergaben, schien dies kein Einzelfall zu sein. Als wir eine andere Bedienung auf die Probleme mit dem Essen aufmerksam machten, hätten wir uns zumindest eine angemessene Entschuldigung oder etwas mehr Verständnis für die Reklamationen gewünscht. Leider hatten wir nicht das Gefühl, dass unsere Hinweise ernst genommen wurden. Schade, denn die Erwartungen waren deutlich höher. Unser Fazit: Das war unser erster und zugleich letzter Besuch.

Das Personal ist Höflich und Kommt auch mal wieder um zu fragen ob noch alles passt oder man noch etwas benötigt. Auf das Essen musste man zwar etwas länger warten als sonst aber dafür war es frisch zubereitet worden und alles selbst hergestellt.

Angenehm ruhiger Biergarten, sehr gutes Essen, guter Service. Preis Leistung mehr als ok. Hierher kommt man gerne wieder. Im Grunde eine Wohltat im Gegensatz zu manch anderem nBiergarten der Mitbewerber, wo lautes Radiogedudel oder Jazz jede Unterhaltung schwierig machen.

Sehr entspannter Biergarten mit erstklassiger Küche! Mein Mittagessen mit gebeiztem Saibling war extrem lecker und meine Freunde haben auch alle von ihrem Essen geschwärmt. Wir kommen gerne wieder 🤝

Gutes Bier, angenehme Atmosphäre

Das Essen war in Ordnung, soweit es noch auf der Speisekarte stand. Mein Problem war der Lärmpegel, der so hoch war, dass man sich unmöglich normal unterhalten konnte, ohne selbst in den Lärmpegel um uns herum einzusteigen.

Essen war in Ordnung, aber die Portionen waren nicht sättigen. Für den Preis zu teuer.

Haben im urigen Biergarten gesessen, getrunken und gegessen. Das Schäufelchen (bin Hesse) ist großartig, das Bier hervorragend. Immer wieder gern.

Schönes Ambiente. Super schöner Biergarten. Das zoiglbier schmeckt super lecker. Das bierkutschergulsch ist mega gut super zartes Fleisch würzige leckere sauce. Die semmelknödel sind schön fluffig. Ein perfekter freundlicher Service. Heute erstbesuch aber ich komme sehr gerne wieder. Sehr zum empfehlen. Es gibt nur einen Nachteil. Ich muss 300 km anreisen.

Alles richtig gut, nur die Portionen könnten etwas größer sein.

Eines der besten - wenn nicht sogar das beste - Wirtshaus in Amberg. Es gibt die klassischen bayerischen Gerichte zu einem fairen Preis. Das Personal ist super freundliche, kümmert sich ausgezeichnet um die Gäste ohne dabei aufdringlich zu sein. Das selbstgebraute Bier ist ein Gedicht, ich trinke gerne das Helle. Ich komme gerne hier her, öfter mit Arbeitskollegen zum lockeren Geschäftsessen oder Mittags auch in den Biergarten. Inzwischen war ich auch schon einige Male mit der Familie hier und die fanden das Schnitzel einfach lecker.

Ein uriges Wirtshaus mit besonderem Charme, das eine sehr gute Küche und supernettes Personal hat. Das Essen wurde sogar schon vor 17 Uhr zubereitet, was uns sehr freute, wir hätten aber auch gewartet. Ich freu mich schon auf die Biergartenzeit 🫶🏻

Sehr nette Personal und leckere Speisen

Essen war okay - preislich gut, leider war der die Soße vom Schweinebraten etwas übersalzen Lautstärke im Restaurant war uns etwas zu laut sind dann in die Walküre weiter dort war’s weit aus angenehmer sich zu unterhalten.

Wir haben hier für eine Suppe und, was noch wichtiger war, ein ganz besonderes Bier – Zoigl 😊 – angehalten. Uns hat alles geschmeckt und wir waren zufrieden.

Ein absolut klassisches deutsches Brauerei-Restaurant aus der Oberpfalz. Ich empfehle hier das Pils statt des Hellens (persönliche Vorliebe, da das Pils aus der Oberpfalz wunderbar leicht gehopft und erfrischend ist, nicht zu trocken und nicht zu malzig). Die deutschen Gerichte wie Schnitzel, Fisch und Wild sind herzhaft, üppig und machen ihrem Namen „deutsche Küche“ alle Ehre – die Saucen sind exzellent. Denken Sie daran, den Kellner herbeizuwinken, wenn Sie etwas benötigen. Zu Stoßzeiten kann es natürlich etwas lauter werden. Sie werden hier garantiert weder hungrig noch durstig nach Hause gehen!

Wie Sie sehen, sehen Sie nichts (mehr) (auf dem Teller) - weil ich’s nicht abwarten konnte. Ich hatte eine Roulade mit Kartoffelknödel und wenn ich euch sage, dass es eine 12/10 war, untertreibe ich. Auch der Beilagensalat, den ich dazu bestellt hatte, war klasse. Das Essen war wirklich absolut perfekt, der Service sehr nett und spaßig. Die Lokalität ist gemütlich und lädt zum Wiederkommen ein. Danke für euren Service, bis zum nächsten Mal (bald!)!

First visit to the Bräuwirt: a lovely, rustic restaurant. The food was delicious and attractively presented. The service was very friendly. Even with the restaurant nearly full (during Advent), the noise level was still quite tolerable. The prices are on the higher end for what you'd expect in a restaurant like this, but still acceptable. Apparently, there's a rather nice beer garden in the summer, which we'd love to visit sometime. Overall verdict: highly recommended.

It started before dinner with a very tasty mulled wine in the outdoor seating area. The adjoining room, booked for the company Christmas party, was sufficiently large and at a comfortable temperature. The food arrived promptly and was served with a friendly smile. My meal, a Jägerschnitzel with potato salad, looked delicious. However, the meat was cut very small and thin, so, due to my hunger, I supplemented it with two different desserts. Finally, the espresso arrived lukewarm, which is unacceptable. This is why I cannot recommend this restaurant or return.

Unfortunately, the service was an absolute disaster! Today, the Sunday menu offered baked tofu with pumpkin risotto and roasted pumpkin wedges as a vegan option. The server informed me that they were out of tofu. My brief, awkward response was met with no acknowledgment. The rest of the table ordered, and I asked if the risotto was still available. This was confirmed, and I ordered it. A short time later, a plate of pumpkin risotto arrived without any pumpkin wedges. To be fair, the food tasted perfectly fine. However, the portion size and the presentation left much to be desired. When paying, the dish was charged €14.90, as originally stated on the menu. When I pointed out that neither tofu nor pumpkin wedges were included, I was told that the pumpkin wedges had already been incorporated into the risotto. Admittedly, I wasn't satisfied with this explanation and argued that I didn't think the price was justified, as it didn't match the menu description. The server was clearly overwhelmed and, after some deliberation, offered an espresso, which I declined. I ended up paying the €19.40 bill, including the drink, with a €20 note. No change was given, no apology was offered, and the server simply moved on to my companion without a word. It's not a problem if ingredients are unavailable, but I expect an alternative suggestion, especially with such a limited menu, an apology, or at least a professional and, above all, friendly way of handling the situation. It's nice that vegan options are offered, but you might as well not bother. If the sauerbraten is sold out, there are plenty of alternatives, and you certainly won't be serving three dumplings for €20. It's a real shame; this could definitely have been handled better!

The food is not recommended. I had a roast beef with onions for almost 30 euros, and it was absolutely inedible.

Vorneweg: Das Essen und das Bier waren sehr gut. Auch die Bedienung war äußerst freundlich und aufmerksam. Allerdings: Leider war um 19:00 Uhr der Schweinebraten bereits aus. Als wäre das nicht genug, saß der volltrunkene Stammtisch der Herren im besten Alter mit in der Wirtsstube. Wir konnten dank verschiedenster Gesänge, gepaart mit lautem Gröhlen leider nicht mal das Wort an unserem Tisch verstehen. Nach dem Essen sind wir dann wieder gegangen - der Freitagabend ist hier nicht empfehlenswert - ansonsten ist das Lokal schon gut.

This is exactly how I imagine a visit to a Bavarian tavern should be. A pleasant, authentic atmosphere, attentive service, great food, and fantastic beer. My unqualified recommendation!

November 14, 2025 The food is certainly good, and the beer is good too. But what you can't do here—and I know tastes vary—is this: As someone from Franconia would say, the mulled wine was absolutely awful. I took two sips of that bitter concoction, didn't complain out of politeness, returned the full mug, and got my deposit back. But somehow it went with the eerie music. But as I said, tastes differ.

A highly recommended restaurant. Good beer and excellent food. We had the vegan dish and the dumpling dish, as well as a very good salad. It tasted delicious and was also beautifully presented. If they had one or two more vegan dishes, it would be fantastic. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and tasteful. The service leaves nothing to be desired, very attentive and friendly. We would gladly return anytime.

The waiter was super friendly and extremely attentive. The ambiance is authentically Bavarian, and the roast pork with dumplings is legendary! Highly recommended. If we're ever in Amberg again, we'll definitely be back!

We ate at the Winkler Bräuwirt yesterday. The food was good, the service very friendly. The clattering from the kitchen penetrated the parlor, as did the conversations of other guests—everything was simply too loud; you couldn't hear your own voice. The benches were hard and very cold, and there were no cushions.

The food and value for money were excellent. The atmosphere in the beer garden was very nice and relaxed. The service was always attentive and friendly!

The beer is great. The food is okay. The beer garden lacks any style, is unloved, and unkempt. Now, at the beginning of August, there are already so many leaves from the linden trees scattered everywhere, on tables and chairs in the gravel...the parasols are scattered haphazardly...uninviting and not pleasing to the eye.

There were four of us and we were able to order hot food from the menu at 1:45 p.m.

First, there were no hot meals available in the evenings, but then, upon request, they were able to prepare a cordon bleu for us, which we would have gladly skipped. It cost a whopping €19.90, and for that, they included their own creation of Obatzten cheese and a disgusting, unidentifiable ham wrapped in a strangely seasoned schnitzel. NO THANKS! That was the first and last time for us. They could have just said they had their own creation, and in the end, we had to pay the full price despite complaining.

Fantastic beer. Very tasty, the first few rounds in the afternoon. We stopped by again shortly before 10 p.m., but unfortunately, no more chances. We tried it for two days. What a shame.

All in all, it was good. The only downside was that we, as a large group, had pre-ordered our food. However, when we arrived hours later, no one knew about it. This made things a bit hectic.

Located in a historic brewery site dating back to 1617, Winkler BräuWirt has been operated by the Winkler family since 1913 and continues to serve classic Bavarian fare alongside its house-brewed beers. The place draws visitors with its local atmosphere and long-standing brewing tradition. The Wiener schnitzel (Wiener Schnitzel) was a real feast – two large, crispy pieces of meat with a very generous portion of fries. You definitely won’t leave hungry. The venison sausages (Hirschkäsekrainer) served with a cranberry-horseradish sauce were very tasty, although the accompanying potatoes were a bit unusual in texture and flavor – not exactly to our liking. Out of curiosity, we also tried the sausage salads – both Bavarian (Bayrischer Wurstsalat) and Swiss (Schweizer Wurstsalat) versions. It was more of an experiment than a treat for us – the flavors were quite specific and didn’t quite appeal to our tastes. We probably wouldn’t order them again. The real highlight of this place is, unsurprisingly, the wide selection of delicious beer. As a brewpub, Winkler delivers on its promise – the beer is excellent, with rich flavor and character. All in all, Winkler BräuWirt offers a solid Bavarian dining experience, with hearty portions and excellent beer. While it didn’t completely blow us away, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and want to enjoy some traditional regional fare in a relaxed atmosphere.

Cozy beer garden and very friendly, quick staff and delicious beer

Went to the Winkler beer garden/restaurant for lunch for the first time today. The location has a really nice atmosphere, but the young waitress is a bit overwhelmed when it comes to intolerances. I think the staff need to be trained on this, as there are more and more people with intolerances and things like that can be annoying. I told her that I have a histamine intolerance and that I can't tolerate wine or vinegar, and balsamic vinegar is one of them...! As it also contains grapes, if you listen carefully you should be able to deduce that!! I also told her that I can't tolerate tomatoes, but there were still tomatoes on the fish and the salad with balsamic vinegar... The next salad came without anything, even without oil. You really can't eat it and there should always be an alternative for people with intolerances, you can also put yogurt on top, which at least tastes better than nothing. Or cream from the baked potatoes or something similar. I had to learn how to deal with that too and I think restaurants should be prepared when even we in the nursing profession are trained for it and there are more and more people who suffer from gluten/histamine and other intolerances!!! Which can be dangerous, especially with histamine!! That's why I would like the staff to know about it. And that there are alternatives for people with intolerances! The fish, the zander, was okay but it was very fatty because of the butter and it could have been made with less fat. The mashed potatoes were okay! But since we have been in Amberg and other towns for 5 days, it can't compete with other restaurants!! We'll give you another chance on your next visit to AM! I would also like to see poultry on the menu!! For anyone who doesn't like meat or beef!

A classic brewery with hearty food and good beer. All in all, highly recommended.

The atmosphere in the tower is certainly good, with a 3.8 rating. Coziness is something else entirely. The staff is very friendly. Our roast wild boar died twice. The second time was in the kitchen. The two slices of wild boar were thin, dry, and as hard as a shoe sole. Stupid as we were, we didn't return them right away. They offered a shot of schnapps as an apology, which was a nice gesture.

We visited the Winkler Bräu based on a hotel recommendation. Unfortunately, the food didn't impress us. Compared to other restaurants, the food still has room for improvement. The taste was okay, but unfortunately, it was lukewarm. We had roulade and Wiener schnitzel with potato salad. There was no side salad. The prices are reasonable, but the service could be more attentive.

Simply a lovely beer garden for relaxing in the heart of the city, with good food and very tasty beer. The Bavarian gin is highly recommended.

We don't need to talk about beer at Winkler, it just fits, especially the Zoigl. Personally, I would have expected goulash to be a little spicier but overall everything was good. The atmosphere is cozy and when the weather is nice there is also a beer garden that invites you to linger.

I would actually rate the ambience higher, but since it is very loud due to the large room, unfortunately only 3 stars. Otherwise really tasty food, good money and very clean.

Ambience rustic and beautiful as you would imagine a traditional Bavarian inn, service very good, the staff very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and, above all, large portions. Highly recommended.

Good food, not a long wait until it was ready.

In January I was back in Amberg ... and since a man needs to eat and have some beers too the Winkler Brauwirt was the place of choice for one of the evenings... so here are the findings. Location - inside the old city - on the Untere Nabburger Strasse you shall find it , in the summer they've got also a courtyard where you can sit outside - not the case in January. Very good seating capacity indoors and a "typical beerhouse" look with big tables and lots of wood panels on the walls Service - fast and prompt nothing to complain about ... the waiter was moving fast and the drinks and food arrived in no time. Speaking of food - there were some Bavarian classics on the menu I went for some fish ... deep fried carp as a starter with greens and a dip and smoked char with potatoes and greens as a main course .... both very tasty and nicely balanced dishes , both very good choices. The beers menu is also very solid , from the options I tasted 4 different beers that evening all different and all of those really good - as long as you like Bavarian beer. Prices - very good, from my perspective an excellent price to quality ratio - and you can pay with credit card. Overall a very good spot , for sure I will be back when I'm in Amberg, back for some food and more beers to sample from the menu of Winkler.

We had Rolade with dumplings, the vegan baked potato and the schnitzel (see picture) Large portions and everything was very tasty. Very nice waiter and great beer. Gladly again :)
