TERRIBLE SERVICE I've always enjoyed visiting the Hammerwirt restaurant, partly because of its beautiful location and partly because of the truly excellent food. With that in mind, my wife and I planned to visit on Sunday, November 9th. Four days prior, for a special occasion, we had personally selected a nice table and reserved it in my name. When we arrived on the day of our reservation, the table we had booked was occupied. I politely inquired with the waiter why our reservation hadn't been honored; he explained that a colleague had apparently made a mistake and given away our reserved table. This simple inquiry must have been a fatal insult to the waiter; he ignored us, preferring to clear other tables, chatting in the kitchen, and seeing no reason to even bring us the menu. During the entire time, I didn't see a single female server, which leads me to conclude that the waiter's excuse that a colleague had messed up the reservation was clearly a lie. After waiting for fifteen minutes, we got up and left. As luck would have it, the restaurant's owner was at the exit; she asked why we were leaving so soon. I explained the situation calmly and pointed out that it was actually her job to ensure that the waitstaff showed a certain level of courtesy towards the guests, who ultimately paid their salaries. SUMMARY: Service and food quality together determine the overall impression of a restaurant. And this place was sorely lacking. If a waiter thinks he should treat guests like us, then he's clearly in the wrong job. He would be better off finding a position in the warehouse of a discount store. He'd probably be better off there. This restaurant will never see us again.

Very rustic restaurant. I recommend the pork knuckle. Good value for money!

Food was picked up. Was sufficient and good. What bothers me more is that I had a drink in the restaurant and paid straight away. When you pick it up, the tip is just smaller. The waiter felt the same way and was glad I was gone. Good to know. I won't go here anymore.

We ordered 2 burgers and nachos as a starter when we found a short thick dark hair between the nachos. We complained about this and the waitress apologized and asked if we wanted new ones (which we said no). The boss came personally and immediately said the hair wasn't from the kitchen or him. When I told him that I had blonde hair and my girlfriend had long hair and that it couldn't be ours, he almost started screaming that the hair wasn't dark (the waitress also agreed). I didn't know whether to be more shocked or angry!? After I asked him if he was accusing us of lying, he acted as if nothing had happened and asked if we wanted a free hot drink in return, which my friend reluctantly accepted. When we got our burgers, he asked with a cheeky grin if everything was okay this time. You got a healthy itch in your right hand and if we hadn't already been so hungry we would have paid immediately and left.
