Wiener Wirtshaus in Karlsruhe

Very poor service, waited far too long for the food (1.5 hours), incorrect orders, the breading on the meat fell apart, the meat was fried in far too much oil, and it wasn't good. The children's steak wasn't medium, it was almost raw. The sauces arrived much too late; we were almost finished eating. They used pre-made sauces and charged us for them. Far too expensive! We paid €83 for two people for turkey cordon bleu, Wiener schnitzel, a shandy, a large specialty drink, dessert, and sauce – that's outrageous! Not recommended, never again.

We often eat at a Viennese tavern. The owner, a true Viennese, is very friendly. His staff are also very friendly. The food is always delicious. You can even order dishes you wouldn't normally find on the menu, like the Fiaker Goulash, which I enjoy just as much as the tasty schnitzel or cordon bleu.

Quaint atmosphere, a bit dated. But lovely outdoor seating. The food is very good, superbly prepared. Friendly and attentive service. Excellent value for money. Would gladly return.

Unfortunately, we left after almost an hour without food or drink. After more than half an hour, they finally took our order. The on-site organization was very poor.

A charmingly decorated sports bar. We've been there twice now, the first time in summer. Both times we had a fantastic meal. The service is quick and very friendly. There's a generally lively atmosphere. The Austrian flair is definitely there.

Update 10/2025: New tenant. No more Austrians? Food was so-so, service clearly overwhelmed, no more Austrian beer.

Here you can finally find real home-style cooking, delicious homemade sauces, and certainly one of the best schnitzels in town. I'm so glad you're here!

The ambiance was already outdated under the previous tenant. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly. The veal schnitzel was tough and mushy, and the mushroom cream sauce contained a grand total of three mushrooms. What a shame! We won't be coming back.

I gave it 5 stars two years ago. Everything was perfect. Today, unbelievable. The servers were always deep in conversation behind the counter, with absolutely no overview of the restaurant. They waved for ages to get the attention of the surrounding guests, but the staff... took far too long, considering they were just chatting amongst themselves and doing nothing else. The Cordon Bleu, which I was really looking forward to since I knew it from the previous owner, arrived... lying on top of the fries, lying on top of the fries. I had specifically ordered crispy fries and asked the server if she understood, which she confirmed. Then I got squashed, soggy fries. How could anyone even think of putting something on top of fries? It gets even worse. The Cordon Bleu was clearly frozen and deep-fried! Absolutely unacceptable. It's garbage!!!

The owner and staff were very attentive. It's a sports club restaurant, so it's a bit rustic. But the food is delicious.

Absolutely recommended! I stumbled across it on Instagram. They definitely have very good schnitzel and cordon bleu. The value for money is outstanding. There was absolutely nothing to complain about with any of the dishes – the sauce, fries, schnitzel, and Käsespätzle. The restaurant has a rustic decor, and you can sit comfortably. The staff is incredibly friendly, and all in all, very exemplary, except for the knives, which are dull. I will definitely come back and will recommend it without hesitation. A table was reserved, and three people ordered four dishes. ...`` `` `` `` `` `` `` `` `` `` `` `` `` `` 1x Wiener Schnitzel (Veal) 1x Wiener Schnitzel (Pork) 1x Cordon Bleu 1x Käsespätzle (Cheese Spaetzle) We received 1x Spätzle (a side dish) instead of Käsespätzle and 1x Farmer's Cordon Bleu instead of a regular Cordon Bleu. When ordering, we also mentioned that we would like Kaiserschmarren (shredded pancake) for dessert. After complaining to the unmotivated and listless male server, we were completely ignored. No one asked if we wanted anything else to drink, the dishes were cleared without a word, and there was no question of whether it was alright. We didn't receive the Kaiserschmarren, and despite a €5 tip, we didn't even receive a thank you. It was the complete opposite of our last visit. The schnitzels are still very good, but the handful of fries was insufficient. After today's visit, I will unfortunately think twice before returning to this restaurant. My money is better spent elsewhere, where I feel welcome and comfortable as a guest. It's a real shame that the service was so inconsistent between visits. I won't recommend that anymore.

The schnitzel was delicious. The side salad was also good. The fries were lukewarm but crispy. The chairs could use replacing. The waitstaff were friendly, but not quite up to speed.

We were very satisfied with the service and food. The atmosphere could be a bit more cozy. Perhaps less bright lighting and a more cozy interior. We'll definitely be back.

I absolutely loved this Viennese restaurant. The schnitzel with fries was perfectly golden brown, crispy, and tender as butter. You can tell the love goes into the cooking here! We finished off with Kaiserschmarrn, which was simply heavenly, fluffy, warm, and just the right amount of sweetness. 😍 Great food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. Original review from August 2022: Despite our spontaneous visit less than fifteen minutes before the kitchen closed (at 9 p.m.), we received an exceptionally friendly welcome and were able to enjoy Austrian cuisine. The food was fantastic, the wait times were short, and the staff very accommodating. In addition to some very good conversations with the staff, we even had a nightcap at the end. We would definitely be happy to come back! ☺️ Update: Even under the new ownership, the recommendation hasn't changed!

We had to wait about 40 minutes for the schnitzel. The food was okay, but the knives were blunt.

Fantastic Wiener Schnitzel. Crispy, tender, perfectly seasoned, great value for the portion, and the sides were also perfect. The Kaiserschmarrn was super fluffy and rich, lightly caramelized.

We've eaten here several times. The food is delicious and the price-performance ratio is right. The service was very attentive. All in all, it was a successful evening and we'll definitely be back. Not really... a run-down place Schnitzel Tasteless... Fries are in short supply

Update after several completely satisfied visits - I took a big birthday as an opportunity to celebrate here. Next room with planned 50 people (then there were a few less), delicious dishes were served here. Plates with breaded schnitzel, breaded chicken schnitzel, roast pork with sauerkraut and dumplings, various side dishes such as salad, fries, spaetzle, gravy and mushroom sauce. Service was on point, everything went great, the food was great - nothing to complain about in terms of appearance or taste. And no one went home hungry. I would do it again at any time. Thanks to the whole team for the lovely evening. Original rating: Spontaneous visit on the way back from a weekend trip. Our arrival was shortly before the kitchen closed, but we were greeted and served extremely friendly. The side salad has a variety of different salads, beautifully presented and tastes very good. Both the pork Wiener Schnitzel and the Cordon Bleu we ordered were very large and equally delicious. Meat well seasoned and fried until golden brown. The dessert was also convincing; the chocolate cake with a liquid center was also highly recommended both in terms of appearance and taste. The service was on point and very friendly, you could see how much fun she had in her work, and she also took the time to have a nice chat. This was definitely not our last visit. Waren amWochenende mit einer Gruppe dort. Restaurant bis auf den letzten Platz belegt, da ein grosser Haupt-Raum mit einem erheblichen Lärmpegel. Leider konnten wir uns da nur eingeschränkt gut unterhalten. Essen hervorragend.,die Schnitzel wie mal sie erwartet top, das Fiaker Gulasch ein Traum, Rindfleisch so was von zart und fein. Service leider an unserem Tag leicht überfordert, da zu wenig Personal. Die Bedienungen haben aber das Beste unter diesen erschwerten Bedingungen gegeben und waren immer sehr freundlich. Zusammenfassend: Wenn man im Gastraum weniger Tische aufstellt und die Service Kapa erhöht dann uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen.

Obwohl es derzeit problematisch ist, Personal zu bekommen, hat der Wirt und seine Mitarbeiterin uns sehr gut bewirtet, Essen und Trinken gut, obwohl es Sonntag war, sind wir doch recht schnell bedient worden. Das Gebäude der Wirtschaft ist jedoch in die Jahre gekommen, der Verpächter sollte doch hier mal was renovieren.

Really good food. The schnitzel is A1 and the portions are mega. Price-performance ratio is right here 👍🏻 The ambience is as it usually is in club restaurants. You could do more with it. We were here a few weeks ago with a visitor from Vienna (he is a trained chef, waiter and pastry chef). Had Wiener Schnitzel, a delicious Cordon Bleu, pancakes and my beloved Fiaker goulash (you can't find it anywhere else in Karlsruhe). The Viennese pubs couldn't do it better, everything was perfect! Went here for the first time today based on a recommendation...we weren't disappointed...unfortunately you can't see the heart of the place from the outside. The service was very professional and always a smile on the face...very friendly and customer focused. Went there for the first time on Saturday evening. The dining room is large and well-kept, but the terrace is unfortunately not that comfortable. The Cordon Bleu's were thin and the breading was a bit peppery. Unfortunately there is little trace of Vienna here and if you use the stairs to the toilet you are not only leaving Vienna but also Germany. The walls are dirty, the stairs are dirty, the toilets are unkempt, there is no handwashing liquid and the smell here in the basement. Let's get out of here

Service was very nice, but I can't understand the reviews for the food and ambience. The sauce comes from the packet and the cordon bleu is not tasty. Carelessly done.

Rarely eaten so badly, the fried dumpling slices with mushroom cream sauce are the lowest level, and the dumplings are not fried but deep fried, tasteless and resisted me very quickly. You can tell that the dumplings were fried by the even browning all around. Salad bland. Gravy heavy and a finished product. Schnitzel also fried, dry, unseasoned and a disaster in terms of taste. I forced two slices of the dumplings with a bang, the rest stayed there. Service must first clarify the change in salad with the kitchen... As a guest, I would like to be served what I ordered. Dishes were not cleared away. All in all, an insult to a real Viennese inn. This is a sports restaurant... Adjacent to a soccer field. Just the right thing for undemanding guests without a sense of taste... No visit is recommended!

We can only recommend the Vienna Wirtshaus. The Austrian specialties are very tasty. We celebrated confirmation here, the price-performance ratio is definitely right. Patrick, the landlord (with a friendly Austrian dialect 😆) is very accommodating and nice. The staff are always friendly, warm and helpful despite stressful situations. Das Essen war leider kalt und ich hatte im Salat eine Schnecke kann ja mal passieren ,aber ich bekam zur Antwort ja das ist halt so

El lugar es sencillo, un sporthaus, había mucha gente y mucho ruido, el servicio excelente, la comida llegó rápido, comí un churrasco y estaba bueno y era abundante pero las Papas Fritas son de muy mala calidad, lástima, recomiendo ofrecer otro tipo de papas, de resto todo bien.

Sehr enttäuschend! Das hat leider nichts mit guter Wiener Küche zu tun. Das Cordon Bleu totfritiert, das Wiener Schnitzel ebenfalls frittiert und trocken. Die Pommes haben einen minderwertigen Fettgeschmack. Die Rahmsoße war keine Soße, sondern eine dickflüssige Pampe ( Fertigsoße). Das Ambiente ist leider auch nicht wirklich das was es verspricht, wenn man sich vorher die Website vorher anschaut. Die Bedienung war sehr nett.

Wir hatten am Samstag (16.12.23) unser Stammtisch Weihnachtsessen im Wiener Wirtshaus. Das gesamte Lokal war ausgebucht und unsere Gruppe war sehr groß. Und nur zwei Bedienungen! Da wir kein Menü sondern a la carte essen wollten dachten wir "das wird dauern". Was soll ich sagen. Wir wurden eines Besseren belehrt. Den beiden sehr freundlichen und aufmerksamen Damen entging nichts. Nach ca. 10 Minuten hatten alle von uns Ihr Getränk. Und so gings weiter. Die Essensbestellung erflogt anschließend. Alle Gerichte kamen gleichzeitig und sehr schnell. Die Qualität der Speisen war überzeugend. Kompliment an die gesamte Crew. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Sensationelle, leckere österreichische Küche (unter anderem Fiaker Gulasch) mit authentischem Pärchen die das Restaurant mit Liebe führen. Mega Service und immer wieder lecker. Reservierung empfohlen.

Große leckerr Portionen sehr freundliche Bedienung

Vor knapp 2 Jahren haben wir das Wiener Wirtshaus kurz nach der Neueröffnung das erste Mal besucht. Besonders begeistert hat uns die Qualität des Essens, die liebevollen Details und der äußerst aufmerksame Service. Seither sind wir regelmäßig dort gewesen. Den Fahrtweg von einfach 20km haben wir gerne in Kauf genommen. Bereits bei unserem letzten Besuch im Oktober stellten wir nachlassende Qualität fest. Gut, das kann mal passieren. Wir wollten dem Wirtshaus noch eine Chance geben. Heute Abend haben wir es versucht. Es war der letzte Versuch. Der Service war nett wie immer aber leider hat auch das nicht mehr als 2 Gesamtpunkte gebracht. Das was die Küche heute abgeliefert hat war die Entwicklung von der ehemals ideenreichen Hausmannskost hin zum lieblosen Kantinenprodukt. Ausser einer Viertel Tomate keine Deko auf dem Teller, Fleischqualität so lala, die Cordon Bleu aussen tief dunkelbraun mit bitteren Röstaromen, der Geschmack auch durch die Fertigsauce nicht zu retten. Der Hammer war aber das Cordon Bleu vom Huhn das trotz der dunklen Panade innen noch völlig roh war (siehe Bild). Gerade bei Geflügel ein absolutes NoGo. Das Fleisch war zu dick geschnitten, offensichtlich nicht geplättet und wie eine Roulade gerollt. Vermutlich auch die Fritteuse zu heiss um das Fleischpaket durchzugaren bevor die Panade tief dunkelbraun ist. Und auch das Beschwerdemanagement völlig unzureichend. Es wurde uns zwar ein Dessert angeboten was wir ablehnten da uns der Appetit vergangen war. Statt zumindest das rohe Cordon Bleu von der Rechnung zu streichen erhielten wir eine Rechnung für alles was wir verzehrt hatten. Bei Nachfrage erhielten wir dann die Info dass der Chef nicht da wäre um das misslungene Gericht von der Rechnung zu streichen. Man reduzierte dann den Gesamtbetrag um 4,60 €. Neben Optimierungen in der Küche sollte man über eine Abwesenheitsvertretung für den Chef nachdenken der in der Lage ist angemessen mit Reklamationen umzugehen. Der wirklich netten und bemühten Servicekraft mache ich keinen Vorwurf. Sie hat versucht zu retten was im Rahmen ihrer Möglichkeit machbar war. Für uns nicht nachvollziehbar wie man den anfänglichen Qualitätsanspruch so weit zurückschrauben kann.
