We would like to express our incomprehension regarding the behavior of owner R. We cannot understand his outrage. We are frequent guests at “Wenzel” and always enjoy the extremely friendly service and the quality of the food and drinks.

Very nicely decorated restaurant in the old style with a beer garden right by the cathedral. Very good Czech cuisine with attentive service staff at moderate prices. Highly recommended! Went there for the first time in 2019, the quality is still there in 2024, simply world class!

We went to Wenzel for lunch today. We go to the restaurant often. As always, the food and service were great. What was unpleasant today was a loud argument that started from guests who came into the restaurant with dogs. The dogs sat in a cart and were pushed up to the table in such a way that the dogs' heads were already on the edge of the table, even though two women were having lunch at the same table. When the restaurant manager asked her to move the dogs a little further away from the table, the dog owner reacted loudly and aggressively. For hygiene reasons, it should go without saying that dogs should not sit at table level, especially if there are strangers sitting at the table. As always, we were very satisfied and always found the staff friendly and couldn't understand the dog owner's reaction.

I have never experienced a more unfriendly service who calls herself the boss. At no time - as you claim in the answer below - did we feed dogs at the table. We hadn't sat at the table for so long before the “boss” became rude. Please reconsider your slanderous answer!!

Experienced very unfriendly service live, who also referred to herself as the boss! Upon request, the first service person assigned me a table for two. When we were seated, we had to leave the table and go to the 2nd floor according to the boss's instructions. The friendly first service person then gave us a seat at the edge of a large table. Then the boss came again and argued with us because apparently one of our small dogs, which was tied up in a dog cart, was probably too close to the edge of the table. We immediately got up and left the restaurant and will never enter it again! Your answer is definitely not true and I certainly won't delete my feedback. They were rude twice within a minute and there was certainly no feeding of the dog! Please learn from this and don't blame us.

Quaint restaurant in the city center of Zwickau right next to the cathedral with delicious food and a selection of mainly Czech beers. I found the service good. The staff was friendly, but because it was busy it took a little longer to order. The food was delicious. However, you have to be careful if you are asked whether you would like red or white cabbage with the dish. This may cost more than expected. Price-performance is OK but not a bargain.

Great restaurant with a super cozy atmosphere. The menu is very diverse and the food was always delicious. A special compliment goes to the service staff. Despite the restaurant being full, everyone is totally on their toes, always courteous and friendly (despite the fact that some guests behave really poorly towards the staff, but only marginally). All in all, an absolute recommendation in Zwickau. We'll definitely be back.

Haben ein gemütliches Restaurant gesucht und dort gefunden. Wir waren sehr angenehm überrascht über das Ambiente. Eine sehr freundliche Bedienung und sehr schmackhaftes Essen machten unseren positiven Eindruck perfekt. Wir kommen gern wieder. Dem ganzen Team wünschen wir für 2025 weiterhin alles Gute und zufriedene Gäste.

We always enjoy coming here as a family. The staff is super friendly and the food comes quite quickly. No matter whether Wenzel burger, beer goulash or plamen, everything tastes excellent. But I can especially recommend the dumpling fries as a starter, best to share as they are very filling. The only small drawback was the grog, which was a bit thin. But the lemonades and various beers always taste very good. Reservations are almost always necessary if you come with more than two people as the place is very popular!

The food was delicious, freshly prepared and we didn't wait long. Service was always on the ball and always friendly. I'd love to come back.

Very tasty food at good prices. Went here spontaneously and luckily got a place despite the large Christmas market. The waitress (young gentleman) could be a bit friendlier and more enthusiastic about her job. Otherwise great restaurant. We will definitely be happy to come back. Keep it up!

I've been to almost every Wenzel restaurant there is in Germany. For me, Zwickau is the most beautiful. The food is no different than in the others. But you feel comfortable... The staff was great on my evening.

The restaurant, centrally located at the cathedral, is stylish and beautifully furnished, and the service is very competent and friendly. Only the food is nothing special and not particularly Czech. I had the classic dish, roast beef with dumplings, the dumplings were okay and the sauce had nothing to do with gravy for me. I would come back to drink beer...

Food could and should be hot. When I thought of Bohemian dumplings, I imagined something different than off-the-shelf dumplings with no inner values.

We were there for my mother's birthday because she wanted it. Unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. It started with us ordering and others who came after us got their food while we didn't even have the starters. In addition, the food was really poor average and not really cheap. In the end very disappointing.

We had reserved a table with a tap. When we made the reservation using the telephone number of the restaurant in Zwickau, we were also asked about our preference regarding the type of beer. Unfortunately the reservation was not implemented and we sat at a normal table. After we asked the waiter why the reservation didn't work, he said it was our fault. We should have called the Zwickau restaurant directly. (We have verifiably done this.) In my opinion, the table with the tap is an empty promise and only serves to attract people. They obviously don't want to connect a barrel or clean the system. But then I think it's cheeky to blame the customer. The food was ok, although the dumplings left the impression that they were from a wholesaler and had just been warmed up. The burgers looked rather simple and uninviting. The wait for the waiter was long.

I've been working nearby for a month and a half and we go to the meeting or to eat something after work. The food was delicious, the service was also good. Until Yesterday. We came after work for mulled wine, the restaurant was 30% full, at the beginning I told the waitress that only mulled wine today and then I heard an inquiry about a reservation. I replied that no, and the waitress dismissed us. It was the first time I saw this lady, what can I say? Very poor level of customer service. I wrote that the restaurant was 30% occupied, all the tables in front of the restaurant were empty, and you could sit and drink at the bar, so even if someone was coming soon, it was a minor thing. She didn't offer a seat outside or at the bar. So weak. Other staff very polite.

Update: Referring to the recent reviews from “impatient guests” - this is a restaurant and not a fast food joint. If a large number of guests arrive at the same time and the restaurant is full, it may take some time. The employees are doing their best and can no longer work like this. After ordering your drink, just get up and leave without saying anything, that's the last thing in my opinion, dear Mr. Hardy Thom!

Dumpling fries are really tasty. Were on August 21st. there in the evening. Unfortunately, the waitresses weren't in a very good mood. Food was very tasty (dumplings with the main courses were dry but with the sauce it was okay.) Ambiance is cozy.

Not cheap but ok. A starter will fill you up for two. Without anything tightly calculated. Except for the knuckle, which is really big. And delicious. Good beer selection.

Due to a short stay in Zwickau, we chose this restaurant for dinner. Due to the good weather, we sat in the outdoor area, which is located directly on Cathedral Square. We were friendly shown to our seats. The service was attentive and friendly. My food was very tasty, unfortunately my girlfriend's food was swimming in fat, which didn't really seem appetizing. The dessert (ice cream) was an absolute highlight. You can taste the high standard of quality here. All in all, a restaurant that I can warmly recommend!

Restaurant next to Zwickau Cathedral, but we were promised a little more after the good reviews. The staff was friendly, the Czech beer was tasty, but it just took too long between ordering and being served, especially when eating. A pity.

A very nicely located restaurant at the cathedral. My lukewarm goulash soup with potato pieces came in a small to medium-sized coffee cup and tasted like it came from a can. I wouldn't be surprised if it's served in a mocha cup soon. The price for this is absolutely not justified! Thank you - never again

We had dinner in your restaurant a few weeks ago, the atmosphere is beautifully rustic. The service was absolutely courteous and friendly. I ordered a chicken burger and was really looking forward to it, unfortunately I was disappointed, the patti wasn't freshly prepared, but bought frozen from a large company and put in the deep fryer. This was really a shame. Chicken breast with a nice marinade would be an absolute eye-catcher and would taste much better and it would be fresh. The warm chocolate cake, on the other hand, was an absolute dream 👌🏾 Maybe it's a little suggestion ☺️ Despite everything, I would come and eat with you again.
