Disappointing experience after long reservation: "Despite weeks of reservation, we were given a table in an unbearably noisy corner of the restaurant. This is unacceptable for a reservation of this lead time. The prices, especially €10 for two slices of brown bread with cheese, are overpriced. The service seemed intrusive and was obviously aimed at selling additional services. The restaurant has lost a lot of quality and will no longer be taken into account on my next visit to Magdeburg.

Beautifully located restaurant with Czech specialties in a nice atmosphere. The food and drinks are tasty - but I expected more from the beer goulash with dumplings. The prices are in the upper midfield. The time it takes to receive the food is too long for my taste when the restaurant is almost empty. As the evening progressed, it was quite loud in the restaurant as the restaurant was full.

The staff was very friendly and attentive. The service was quick. I had the knuckle of pork, which requires a large appetite. The knuckle took a while to cook, but it was worth it; it was fresh and delicious. The beer was well chilled.

Very tasty food and good beer. We were a bit unlucky on our last visit and had to wait quite a long time for the drinks. However, based on experience, this is not typical. A visit is actually always worthwhile.

Great looking restaurant, good food and excellent beer. It's just a pity that the waiter (red and white checkered shirt) is without a smile (it's free and significantly improves the final impression of the restaurant). But it will surely get better... ;-)

Very tasty food and a clean restaurant. The menu caters to little taste buds and everyone should find something here. The atmosphere was great, but unfortunately it was a bit louder. Otherwise everything was tip top, including the toilets.

You shouldn't be in a hurry! The service is difficult to keep up with. Food was okay but not an absolute highlight. I strongly suspect that the Bohemian dumplings are a finished product. My Kassler was a bit dry for my taste but tasted good.

Yesterday we ate there again in a long time with a large group. I have to say we were all mostly disappointed. The beers are very good. Not the food. Some of the dishes were still raw. And unfortunately the service wasn't optimal either. It's a shame because the quality used to be good but over the years it deteriorates.

Leider war unserer Aufenthalt im Wenzel in Magdeburg nicht so schön. Das bestellte Essen, der Lachs lauwarm Ofengemüse eiskalt, warme rohe Kartoffelscheiben als Bratkartoffeln, entsprach nicht dem Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Der Aufenthalt war sehr enttäuschend.

Wir waren am zweiten Weihnachtstag hier und fanden es rundum gelungen. Wir hatten vorab geklärt, dass der Zutritt mit Rollstuhl möglich ist und einen gut anfahrbaren Tisch erhalten. Das Service-Personal war trotz Arbeit am Feiertag und vollem Lokal bei bester Laune und sehr flott unterwegs. Die Biere waren erwartungsgemäß sehr süffig, die Speisen standen dem nicht nach: Gänsekeule, Hirschgulasch und Ente waren auf den Punkt zubereitet und schmackhaft. DIe uns "aufgeschwatzte" Vorspeise "Topinka Beskydenkäse" wußte ebenfalls zu überzeugen. Mit knapp 140€ ein tolles Weihnachtsessen für drei Personen.

Anyone who has been to Wenzel knows what to expect. I have never been disappointed with Bohemian food and drinks, everything came to the table quickly thanks to the friendly staff. My recommendation is the whole knuckle.

Typical Czech phrases are printed on the restaurant's napkins, but one thing is missing, namely "Vera.....ung" - the original dumplings turn out to be slices of white bread and when I ask, the waitress tries to tell me that's correct! BREAD RIP-OFF

Ich war mit Kollegen zu einem Abendessen hier. Das Personal war nett. Mein Wiener Schnitzel wurde in der Fritteuse zubereitet und sehr lieblos angerichtet. Das Fleisch war trocken und der Geschmack nicht typisch für ein Wiener Schnitzel. Das Essen der Kollegen war nur lauwarm, sie hatten Schmorgerichte. Abgeräumt wurde noch während gegessen wurde. Das geht gar nicht. Insgesamt war es für mich sehr enttäuschend.

Compared to other branches, it wasn't as good here. The service was a bit strange to deal with and also wanted to sell additional things to the order, e.g. starters and side dishes. That's okay in itself, but you should also point out the price or, if there are different versions (like with the bread), mention and suggest both. After all, as a guest you haven't memorized the menu with all the variations and prices

Yes, we can recommend it. The food was very tasty, but the portions were not very large. The service could be improved, as the service was a bit snippy, but tried hard... Price-performance ratio is better.

Nice service and spruced up the inside with a little color. But the food wasn't great for 5 of us adults. Roulades, chicken breast and pork dry and tough. Extra oven vegetables only frozen quality. The Citizen would be recommended, but not a highlight.

When asked whether they wanted their dish with or without cucumber salad, several people at the table chose the cucumber salad. In the end it turned out that the small bowl of salad was not part of the dish, but cost a whopping 9 euros extra. This doesn't leave the feeling of hospitality, but rather of being "trapped".

The four of us visited Wenzel yesterday. We had reserved and were friendly shown to our table. The service was very friendly, but unfortunately things didn't go so well... First we got our ordered drinks. My partner's shandy (0.5l) was stale, mine was ok, but not tangy. Then the food came. Here the portion of the cheese spaetzle was very, very small. As a main course, it is definitely not suitable for “filling up”. The preparation was also careless. Cooked spaetzle, mixed with a little cheese and roasted onions on top. Luckily my partner had ordered a coleslaw with it, but it also seemed to come from a bucket. Our friend's daily menu of venison goulash came to the table cold. Was immediately taken away with the words of the waitress "not cold again", then came back to the table a little later at least lukewarm. My meal (Kassler) was good, but the cucumber salad I ordered with it was, I'm sure, not homemade. It's really just worth emphasizing that the service ladies were very friendly, even despite the complaints. We can't imagine a second visit. Too bad!

The food tasted really good (salmon and goulash), unfortunately the goulash was only served lukewarm and the quantity was quite small for the price. In short: Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio wasn't quite right - despite everything, 3 stars!

Der Wenzel, my husband's family's favorite restaurant! Delicious food, large portions, lots of space on several floors and a cozy, rustic interior style. Particularly suitable and recommended for families. Extra requests will be gladly implemented. Would like more vegetarian options, otherwise I highly recommend it!

Price-performance for drinks and food is simply not right: Pork beer goulash for €18.68 plus a portion of red cabbage for €3.97... the food was only lukewarm.

We were there for lunch on a Sunday. The Wenzelburger with the dumpling fries, which we already knew from the restaurant in Warnemünde, also tastes delicious here. The prices in general have risen like everywhere else, but thanks to a voucher book we were able to save a little. The service seemed slightly stressed, but maybe because it was Sunday😉

Having worked in the industry myself I know how tiring it can be to work long/late shifts. Service was very poor, we wanted to change our drink selection whilst she was taking the orders but didn’t allow us?! Why? We were seated right near the bar wouldn’t have been any issue to change. Some of us just finished eating and immediately took our plates. Waiter was rushing us out of the restaurant it seemed, even though no where near closing time :( and then yearning for a tip??? Overall food was very Germany traditional, and decent atmosphere to be recommended.

I can't quite share the positive reviews. The cheese spaetzle wasn't really hot and you won't get full from it and for this price, in my opinion, the price ratio is absolutely not right. No homemade spaetzle, but ready-made ones for the money. I think that's outrageous. The dumpling looks huge and the meat on the other hand is puny. Children's food was forgotten. So we couldn't eat together. The taste of the food was ok but nothing more. What doesn't work at all in my opinion is when you clear away the first few plates and the others are still eating. I don't think that's an absolute no-go. You could also wait 10 minutes for a small beer. When the bill came, which again took a long time, we were really exhausted. The total bill is absolutely disproportionate to what you get. We haven't eaten this expensively in a long time. The 0.4l apple spritzer alone costs €5.95 and is outrageous.

We were there yesterday. The food was very tasty, the service was great and very friendly and everything came quickly even though it was very busy. There is a point deduction in relation to your customer card that I have. Please revise your concept. What should I do with champagne or should I redeem it for my birthday? This won't attract any guests. I thought there might be a bit of a discount on the bill. I had consumed over 50 euros for myself, so 5 percent would have been great. But with sparkling wine you won't be attracted to anyone else. Otherwise there's nothing to complain about.

Es tut uns leid, aber mit authentischem tschechischen Essen hatten unsere Gerichte nichts zu tun. Bei Powidknödeln servierte man uns einen (garantiert einem 3-er Pack vom Discounter entnommenen) kleinen, trockenen Hefekloß, der mit etwas Pflaumenmus gefüllt, aber nicht wie ausgewiesen mit Mohn garniert war. Preis: 6.50 Euro!!! Das Preis- Leistungs- Verhältnis ist keineswegs angemessen.

So the service staff is sales-minded and talks guests into a lot of things, such as the garlic bread, which comes in two different versions, but if they don't tell you, you'll of course get the more expensive version. This consists of two pieces of bone-dry brown bread with something on it that you might not eat at all, and you pay 10 euros for it. I find that an outrageous impudence. My daughter ordered a citizen with the choice of fries or dumpling fries, and they didn't even ask which side dish she wanted. You then simply get the dumpling fries that are completely soaked in fat. So my impression of the restaurant is that the old bread and the remaining dumplings from the day before simply have to go. Then you just blame the guests...we'll never come back Oh and then, I had the chicken with the baked vegetables and buttered potatoes, I had two half potatoes. In my opinion the food is very expensive for what little is on the plate

I had dinner with the children and grandchildren for Christmas. I have to say that the staff was very nice, very child-friendly, an excellent menu, all in all a perfect restaurant. The next time I'm in Magdeburg I'll definitely go to Wenzel again

Friendly atmosphere and sufficient portions. Unfortunately the selection of food was quite small and the schnitzels were ready from the deep fryer. The waitresses made an effort, but there were still very long waiting times. We were only able to place our order after over half an hour.

12/21/24 Yesterday people died 200 m away, the funeral service has just ended and guests are celebrating and laughing loudly as if nothing had happened. I could make hay. Magdeburg is in mourning.

I picked up my food for Christmas today. Everything is great again and again.

The food was good but very little for the price and the beer was also too expensive at almost €6, coming from Upper Franconia.

Positive: The food was tasty. The ambience was appealing. The staff was very friendly. The beer was good too. Negative: You don't get much food. Side dishes such as red cabbage or sauerkraut cost extra. Price-performance ratio just doesn't fit. The food was only lukewarm. Drinks were forgotten several times.

Visited today. One of the best restaurants in Magdeburg. We love Czech cuisine. Of course the prices are not Czech, but given the outstanding quality they are completely justified. We will definitely come more often. Thank you very much for the good hospitality.

All in all a good restaurant, I would go again. However, be careful about the portion sizes. The cheese spaetzle was something for the hollow tooth and almost no cheese. When I asked the waiter, the answer was whether I wanted dessert, which I found to be a bit bold.

Was great as always. Friendly service, great food and delicious beer. I've often read here that guests have complained about the noise in the restaurant. It's a bit louder at times, as the name suggests, it's a Prague beer bar. Casual atmosphere without becoming a bar. Anyone expecting piano music, candles and starched tablecloths is of course wrong here.

Real Czech cuisine with dumplings. Large selection of Czech beers, Becherovka and much more. Rustic atmosphere, restaurant very well attended. The server was friendly and kept track of 10 people. It's really worth going there.

It's a shame, but this catering establishment has deteriorated so badly. Five years ago I almost cried in these restaurants because it reminded me so much of my home country, the Czech Republic. The food and smells were like home. Unfortunately it's not like that anymore... It's gotten so bad! It's a shame to put myself on a par with the hospitality and quality in my home country. Unfortunately that's how it is and it was the last time. I am very sorry.....

We really enjoyed our visit to Wenzel. The service was very friendly and the food was very tasty. We had a gourmet block with us and it was accepted without hesitation. We'd love to come back.

It's a very nice restaurant with the decor, paintings and overall setup. The food was not what I liked because everything was salty. But their side dish (Rotkohl) was very very tasty. The service was amazing for sure. Very friendly staff.

I've been coming back for years, the conditions are incredibly friendly and the food is always delicious. I just don't really like the ambience anymore after the renovation. I just liked this clocky, old-fashioned, cozy one much better. It turned out pretty but somehow it's too modern for me. However, that doesn't change the fact that the food is good

Unfortunately my dumpling fries were lukewarm, the burger was nothing special, it was also almost cold and it was so loud that you couldn't understand your own words. It's a shame

Good beer, hearty food, only the service was a bit rough for my standards. It was also well attended that evening.

A very nice restaurant, it is always busy. Freshly prepared with typical Bohemian dishes. There is also an extensive 🍺Bohemian/Czech beer selection available. Very tasty, it tasted good and we would love to come back.

Very nice atmosphere and great selection of food - from starters to dessert. However, the portions are a bit small and some side dishes have to be paid for separately. But the taste is really worth it 👍

The service is nice and sometimes you're up for a chat with croquettes. The food is delicious and surprisingly close to the original Bohemian cuisine. The dumplings are really fluffy.
