Weinhaus Steinbach in Bad Honnef

A very cozy restaurant. A beautiful courtyard with vines. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. The staff was attentive and friendly. The ambiance was cozy and pleasant. And the wine glasses were filled to the brim.

I agree with some of the previous reviews: A TRAGEDY! We've known Weinhaus Steinbach for at least 25 years and used to come here often, primarily for the rustic atmosphere, the legendary tarte flambée, the glasses always filled to the brim, and the always dedicated team. After the new tenants took over and Mr. and Mrs. Mohr handed over, we returned today for the first time in a while and were deeply disappointed. Shortly after 6 p.m., only two tables were occupied, despite the beautiful weather. There were no reservations. In the Mohr days, there was no table available on such days. The menu has since been limited to "good, home-style cooking." The wonderful, super-delicious tarte flambée has been discontinued. The service was overwhelmed despite only two tables being occupied... We left. The sight of the salad and fries on the next table was enough. Deeply sad what has become of this former traditional place!!!

Oh dear! No more Steinbach! After years, we decided to try one of the legendary tarte flambées at Weinhaus Steinbach again. They offered a very limited brewery menu that in no way does justice to the winery's history. Only three tables occupied after 6 p.m. says it all. What a shame! Another tradition we have to say goodbye to. Certainly not in the spirit of the Mohr family.

After a great hike, we stopped at Weinhaus Steinbach with friends yesterday. We immediately felt at home. A friendly welcome, very good service and the food was absolutely delicious… and a lot! I can highly recommend the wine house. We'll definitely come back 😊

We were in this wonderful, cute restaurant for the second time, especially to eat asparagus, and we were very impressed again. The waiter responded to all of our special requests in a very personable manner. The food was excellent and can only be recommended.

It was a great restaurant experience. Nice service with great advice. An excellent meal, highly recommended. We treated ourselves to halibut and salmon. The fried potatoes are a poem, 🙃 Dressings and sauces absolutely tasteful. And bowing to the winemaker with a glass of wine full to the brim is simply worth celebrating. Thanks to the whole team. It was our first time at Weinhaus Steinbach and we were thrilled by the warmth and quality of the food. Fresh asparagus with a perfect rump steak were worth every euro, plus a delicious Pinot Blanc, it was a perfect meal. The house itself is quaint and cozy. Absolute recommendation!

I grew up in Rommersdorf an der Möschbasch - so I've known Weinkaus Steinbach from an early age. It's right across the street from my parents' house and was always a familiar sight. There used to be the legendary Möschbachschnitte there – a culinary highlight of my childhood and youth. The bottle is traditionally filled to the brim - a practice that has been common practice here for decades. It is even said that one should bow in reverence to the wine. The original charm of the Steinbach winery has been preserved to this day - and still makes it a place that people like to visit again and again.

We discovered this gem by chance on Sunday and we really liked it with its pleasant atmosphere, delicious food, wine and friendly staff. Since veal kidneys were on the menu, I of course had to try them and I wasn't disappointed. Very tasty. We'll definitely be back.

Das Ambiente gemütlich wie eh und je. Die Preise auf der Karte versprechen jedoch mehr, als sie halten. Gute Hausmannsküche, aber eben nicht mehr. Der Rotwein der Tageskarte super, leider eisgekühlt serviert. Was bei einem Weinhaus mehr als irritiert. Dafür ist der Service exzellent. Ich denke, wenn man bei den Speisen und Weinen möglichst simpel wählt, fährt man am Besten.

A tragedy! For our careful criticism of the food today we were so loudly criticized by the waitress that the conversations at the neighboring tables fell silent. Now I'm almost embarrassed that the Bavarian herb tasted extremely like caraway - nothing else. The fact that my partner's salad had nothing to do with the one from previous visits... "Why would we even come if we didn't like it?" It was tasty! But just try it a few more times. Not anymore! No more greasy fried potatoes that are always kept warm. No more tough liver. No forgotten side dishes. It's a shame, I'll miss the rustic ambience, the former service and the delicious food back then. But the only constant is change.

We ate there today and it was a total disaster! The female waiter was overwhelmed when the food came, but tried to remain friendly, even when there was criticism. The food, however, was absolutely subpar! My steak was still about medium, I ordered English. I let it go back, and instead I got a raw (!) steak, which consisted of a single tendon. My almost 5-year-old daughter ordered fries, which were so salty that she preferred my side salad. The icing on the cake was that despite the complaint, the full charge was made! An absolute disgrace! The male waiter’s “excuse” was, “Well, the chef isn’t here today.”

We gave the restaurant a second chance because of the good food, but unfortunately we were disappointed by the service this time too. As on the first visit, the food was solid and tasty, which is why we decided to come back again. The service, however, again left something to be desired. Although the service was friendly, she was again very inattentive. We had to wait a long time for our drinks and food and overall we didn't feel well looked after. It's a shame, because the food has potential, but without better service it's hard to really enjoy the evening. Unfortunately, this was probably our last visit.

“Great wine house with minor criticism about pricing when supplements change” I was consistently impressed by the wine house with its excellent selection of wines, the cozy atmosphere and the attentive service. The food was excellent and the advice was knowledgeable and friendly. Overall it was a very nice visit. However, there is one small point of criticism: I asked in advance how much it would cost to get broad beans instead of bacon beans. Although I was told that this would mean a 25% surcharge, I found this pricing policy excessive. Since I asked about it beforehand, there was no unpleasant surprise, but I think such a high surcharge for a small change is unreasonable. Nevertheless, the wine house remains highly recommended.

All of our expectations were exceeded! Both the steak and the chop were tender and the quality of the meat clearly stood out. The tarte flambée with pear and sheep's cheese was excellent and very special. The atmosphere was cozy and the service was very courteous and humorous. Especially to anyone with a dog, great service with food and water here too!

Jens ist zurück und führt nun wieder die Küche. Das erinnert an die besten Zeiten im Weinhaus, die nun fortgesetzt werden. Nach Absprache hat er heute ein Tomahawk Steak mit 700 Gramm serviert, scharf angebraten und mit exakter Kerntemperatur im Backofen finalisiert, ein besonderer Genuss mit Bratkartoffeln, einer Steinpilzsauce und einem Salatteller. Und Jenny hat als Restaurantchefin ihre Augen überall, liebenswert wie immer. Wir haben einen tollen Abend verlebt, danke Jonas!

The food was cold. In addition, the service was absolutely disrespectful! We ordered potatoes with eggs and the potatoes had bacon in them, which wasn't on the menu! We mentioned it and the response was listless and unfriendly that it was normal. Our plates were replaced, cold again! And there was still a piece of bacon on it. Not recommended for vegans and religious people who don't eat pork, for example, nor for normal guests. Disastrous once and never again and 24 euros is a joke. Overwhelmed kitchen!

Actually a favorite place in Bad Honnef, only the food at our table this time was below average: dry spinach dumplings, bland salad dressing, a risotto that was more sticky than creamy.

Very nice and child friendly. Very good food, children's nuggets were high quality and freshly prepared. Avocado and crayfish salad was large enough and tasty. Wine glasses are filled very generously. Ambiance is quaint and cozy.

Wie schön, dass es das Weinhaus Steinbach noch gibt, nachdem Familie Mohr es aufgegeben hatte. Man sitzt wie früher schön im Wein berankten Innenhof, die Bedienung ist sehr nett, die Weingläser werden mit „Deckel“ gefüllt, also vieles wie eh und je. Es war unser erster Besuch nach dem Inhaberwechsel und leider überzeugten uns die Leistungen aus der Küche nicht, auch im Hinblick auf die aufgerufenen Preise. Die Vorfreude über das Kalbsfilet mit Pfifferlingsrisotto war groß, aber das Risotto entpuppte sich als Reisbeilage mit einigen Pilzen. Ein cremiges Risotto suchte man vergebens. Die Qualität des Fleisches an sich war gut, aber es war viel zu stark angebraten und außen fast verbrannt. Auch einem Kalbsfilet sollte man beim Zubereiten etwas Zeit lassen. Was die trockenen Rucolablätter auf dem Teller zu suchen hatten, entzieht sich unserer Kenntnis. Sie fanden sich auch auf dem Teller der Ziegenkäse/Birnenquiche, die leider auch enttäuschte. Weder Birne noch Ziegenkäse hatten Geschmack, und die Tarte war mit einem Fertigblätterteig gemacht anstelle eines Mürbe/Tarteteiges. Sehr schade und für uns für uns nicht wiederholungswert.

Went to eat again after a long time. Apart from the fried potatoes, the kitchen is miserable. The food came on the table in a few minutes, probably already pre-cooked, the food overall was unreasonable. The chairs were pure instruments of torture and you could hardly sit on them. We will advise our friends not to visit this restaurant It's actually a shame, but that's how it is

GORGEOUS RESTAURANT GREAT OUTDOOR AMBIENCE. EVERYTHING INSIDE IS VERY QUITE. UNFORTUNATELY I CAN ONLY GIVE 3 STARS FOR THE FOOD WE HAD BEEF ROULADE 3 TIMES. ALL 3 WERE TASTE GOOD BUT VERY TOUGH WHICH WE TELLED THE FRIENDLY SERVICE. FOR 25 EUROS THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN. I THINK STEW IT FOR 30 MINUTES LONGER AND IT WAS GOOD. BUT WE WILL STILL COME BACK.

Very good food, friendly and attentive service

As always when we are guests in Rhöndorf, we always book a table here (important! Otherwise it will be tight or not work). Why? Quite simply: a stroke of luck in the local gastronomy, great menu, large and very good selection of delicious wines, great service. Traditional, home-style cooking, without chi chi but TOP preparation! Price-performance ratio is right here. We'll be back in Rhöndorf in June and will definitely be back here at Weinhaus Steinbach.

Sehr leckeres Essen,aber kalter Rotwein. Keine Entschuldigung des Chefs und desinteressiert. Wäre beim Vorgänger nicht passiert. Gasthaus war kühl und wenig geheizt.

Unfortunately my expectations of "veal schnitzel with fried potatoes" at a price of around €27 were not met. The schnitzel was almost meatless, very thinly breaded and the fried potatoes were greasy and the quantity was very manageable! I would also have liked a small salad decoration on the plate. Can't understand the concept? It could be so easy to delight customers.

Food: OK, but nothing special. A cordon bleue, the meat was good, but nothing special, the fries that others had were probably quite ok, the fried potatoes were rather bad - 70% very light, not much of a "fried" sound, 20% too dark, so 10 % as they should be. Since 23.80 is not necessarily at the lower end of the price scale, a certain degree of perfection would be required. I didn't eat anything else, but I heard mediocre feedback from the accompaniment (about Wiener Schnitzel, dumplings on pointed cabbage, Himel and Äad, etc.). Service: oh well. Every now and then there was no one there for half an hour (not felt, but actually). Friendliness isn't really there either. Forgotten at least four orders (sometimes even twice). If you tell the boss that "you probably already know..." you will be snapped at "yeah, I know" - that the faucet in the toilet doesn't work. It may be that he has heard it before, but as a guest you just don't know that and being snapped at in a really unpleasant way is not a good quality as a host. In any case, there was enough time - for boss and employees - to sit down at a table with friends and ignore the guests. I hope this isn't a regular behavior. I give everyone their break. But it doesn't necessarily have to be during working hours, especially if no one else seems to be there. I was actually leaning toward 2 stars - but since it was only my 2nd visit, I'll give it three. I would like it if it got better.

Alteingesessene Weinhaus, urig und gemütlich, regionstypische deutsche Gerichte, die selten so gut geschmeckt haben, dazu eine breite Auswahl ausgesuchter Weine. Dazu eine sehr freundliche und kompetente Bedienung. Haben im Wochenendurlaub dann auch gleich den zweiten Abend einen Tisch reserviert. Meine Empfehlung.

Absolut empfehlenswert! Das Ambiente ist schnuckelig-gemütlich. Der Außenbereich lädt gerade an schönen Abenden zum einkehren ein. Das Personal ist ausgesprochen aufmerksam und freundlich, dabei unaufdringlich. Auch mit Hunden kann man hier gut hingehen. Es werden Plätze geschaffen, damit sich alle wohl fühlen und sofort Wasser gebracht. Leckerlis sind bei Bedarf auch zu haben:) Die Bestellungen werden schnell gebracht und die Küche ist ohne Einschränkungen hervorragend. Für jeden ist etwas dabei, vom kleinen Hunger bis zum Menü. Auch vegane Gerichte werden angeboten. Ich komme jedesmal gerne hier her.

Wir haben hier einen wunderbaren Abend verbracht. Besonders das sympathische und herzliche Service Team verdient besondere Erwähnung. Speisen und Ambiente ebenfalls sehr gut. Eine Tischreservierung ist empfehlenswert. Beim nächsten Besuch in Bad Honnef kommen wir auf jeden Fall wieder.

Sehr angenehmes Ambiente im Außenbereich. Man sitzt unter einem Rebendach und Weinblätter. Der bestellte Salat mit gratiniertem Ziegenkäse und Thymianhonig war köstlich und die Weingläser wurden bis zum Rand gefüllt. Sehr nette und freundliche Bedienung, geringe Wartezeit. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Bestes Kotelett seit 20 Jahren!!

Die Sterne drücken alles aus. Ergänzend zwei Besonderheiten: besonders schön ist es draußen unten den Reben zu sitzen und das auch bei schlechtem Wetter(Überdachung). Zweitens der "besondere Brauch", den Wein dadurch zu ehren, indemvdsd Weinglas so hoch gefüllt wird, dass es fast eine Haube bildet uns man sich vor dem Wein verneigen ( ,vorbeugen) muss, um dem ersten Schluck trinken zu können, denn beim Hochheben würde man unweigerlich den Wein verschütten.

Das Essen hat leider nicht die Erwartungen erfüllt, nur Durchschnittlich. An eine Meerrettich-Sauce gehört ordentlich Meerrettich und die reichlichen Schmorzwiebeln über der Kalbsleber ließen keinerlei Röstaromen der Kalbsleber durch. Saubere Schürzen und ein Lächeln bei der Arbeit würden dem Service gut zu Gesicht stehen.

Rommersdorf und das Weinhaus Steinbach ist nach einer Wanderung immer ein schönes Ziel

Schönes Ambiente im Innenhof unter Weinreben! Im Sommer einfach nur unglaublich toll! Das Essen (wir hatten verschiedene Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln, Pommes und Salat) war ebenfalls sehr gut und absolut empfehlenswert! Wir kommen wieder!

Super Kellner, mega Koch. Im Rahmen von einer Whisky Experience von WeeDram Fife kreierte der Koch zum Whisky unglaublich leckere und passende Gerichte. Schade, daß dies wohl einmalig sein wird. Anderseits, wer weiß was dieser Koch künftig zaubern wird. Davon abgesehen, ist die normale Karte hervorragend. 6 von 5 Sternen

Der Eierlikör-Coffee-Shooter ist eine Kreation von Jenny, sehr lecker, genussvoll, optisch ansprechend und gewusst wie. Für alle Fälle auch mit koffeinfreiem Espresso…

Gestern waren wir das zweite Mal im Weinhaus Steinbach. Es ist absolut zu empfehlen :)man sitzt draußen wie im Urlaub. Schön unter den Weinreben kann man die unterschiedlichsten Köstlichkeiten probieren. Bedienung ist mehr wie freundlich und die Abrechnung absolut einsichtig . Immer wieder schön und die Lage im schönen Rheinland zauberhaft.

Leckeres Essen und die berühmten Pokale. Überaus freundliche Bedienung, was will man mehr? Wirkwaren fast eine Stunde zu früh und wurde trotzdem freundlich aufgenommen. Es gab zwar nicht mehr alle Gerichte - aber das Angebotene war üppig und sehr lecker!

Wir haben uns sehr gefreut, dass jetzt auch wieder Mittagessen angeboten wird, wenn auch nur an Sonntagen, und haben die Gelegenheit sofort ergriffen. Vorspeise: Avocado (auf den Punkt gereift) mit frischem Flusskrabbenfleisch lecker als Salat angemacht Hauptgericht: Frische Forelle Muellerin ( nach den Regeln der Kunst zubereitet und koestlich gewuerzt) die Portion war fuer mich nur ein bisschen gross, wenn man sich darueber ueberhaupt beschweren darf. Nachtisch: Eis mit hausgemachtem Rumtopf ( gut aber insgesamt fehlte ein bisschen Suesse) Wein von der Ahr, grosszuegig ausgeschenkt und erfreulicherweise mit Aufpreis als Spende angeboten - habe ich gerne wahrgenommen. Also Gesamteindruck: Ein Lokal zum Wohlfuehlen mit freundlichem Service und sehr gutem Essen und deshalb: wir kommen wieder!
