Weinhaus Schultes in Limburg a.d.Lahn

Weinhaus Schultes, located in Limburg's beautiful old town, is definitely worth a visit. The food (some with a Hessian twist) is delicious and creative; it stands out from the usual monotony. The service is very friendly and attentive. We enjoy going here for lunch.

We, a group of girls from the Westerwald region, had lunch at your place yesterday, and I think such a great place deserves a review. The rooms are quaint, and the food was a pure delight. They also asked us several times whether the food was okay or if we wanted something to drink. Thank you so much for the wonderful service; it was top-notch.

Almost a year in advance, I reserved a table for a group of 17 people on a public holiday. This reservation was canceled shortly before the scheduled date because, apparently, it was only then that they realized the wine bar was closed. Very unprofessional!

First of all: Unfortunately, you always have to give a star for a review. Due to the media coverage and the location, we spontaneously decided to stop here on a return trip to Limburg. The restaurant was open, but there were no guests. We asked if there was a table for a glass of wine and a bite to eat. The owner of the restaurant said, "I can't say, the waiter will do it." At some point, a woman came over and said briskly, "We're fully booked, we don't have room for her." After a stroll through the beautiful old town, we returned to Schultes after about 30 minutes. The situation was the same, all the tables empty. We asked a waiter if we could have a bite to eat and leave within 30 minutes. His answer: "Of course, but that's up to the restaurant management." The same waitress asked us to leave, saying it was her decision, and the chef couldn't go overboard... We then had a wonderful meal and drink at a fantastic Italian restaurant at the same location, more than we had originally planned. During the entire two hours, Schultes had no customers at all! Great trick, that's a great way to make yourself look important. We will never, ever go there!!!

Very good, home-style cooking and friendly service.

We arrived late after a long day of travel. Even though the kitchen was closed they kindly catered for us and the food was great. Better yet our waiter made the night for our two little boys; playing local German music, showing them a map of the city and generally being awesome. Can’t recommend highly enough.

We went out to eat with friends in July. The food was delicious and the service friendly. The menu was very varied. You can sit inside or outside in an alleyway in the old town.

I can't say anything about the accommodations; we were (luckily) only there for the food. I'd say quantity over quality. We ordered goat cheese and the schnitzel with mushrooms (there were two schnitzels stacked on top of each other, which was a huge mountain of ready-made breaded meat). All I can say is: we haven't had such a bad meal in a long time. Maggi powder seems to be the main ingredient here, canned mushrooms, etc.... unfortunately, I can't recommend it at all. Mushroom sauce made with onions, fresh mushrooms, and herbs is really not difficult to make. Even the apple spritzer tasted very artificial. We asked if it was possible to have rosemary potatoes instead of fries. In the end, we had to pay almost €5 more for the schnitzel dish because of that. The potatoes didn't taste of rosemary. I'd rather get something from the deli counter at Rewe. Apparently, you're supposed to indulge so much in the wine bar (with a huge wine list) that you don't notice it at these hefty prices. The side salad with its rather salty dressing can't make up for that. Better smaller portions and fresh... What a shame...

Charming room in a historic building in the heart of Limburg. Excellent service, assistance with carrying more luggage, and we were able to store our bicycles in a separate storage cellar. In the evening, we were immediately given a table in the restaurant, which is not accessible without a reservation.

Everything is just right here: from the exquisite selection of wines to the fantastic food and the harmonious ambiance – every visit is an experience for all the senses. The kitchen impresses with creative dishes prepared with great attention to detail. Freshness, quality, and refinement come together in a tasteful combination. The wine pairing is particularly noteworthy: the selection is not only extensive but also perfectly matched to the dishes – a true paradise for wine lovers. The ambiance also contributes to the special charm of the establishment. The stylish, yet cozy atmosphere invites you to linger. You immediately feel welcome and in good hands. We had dinner at Weinhaus Schultes today. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the starter. The service was not great, and the main course was a disappointment for us.

Four of us were cycling along the Lahn Valley Cycle Path and wanted to have a quick drink at the wine bar in Limburg, as we had to catch a train in 45 minutes. We were already sitting outside when the waitress informed us that drinks were only available with a food order. Since the outdoor area wasn't full and our stay would have been short, we found this policy disappointingly inflexible. It's a shame – so we ended up visiting without service.

We were cycling from the Lahn Valley Cycle Path and stopped for a drink on the outdoor terrace. We only had 30 minutes because we had to catch a train. After ordering four large drinks, we were told on a quiet Tuesday afternoon that we also had to order food. After pointing out that we had limited time, we were still "turned away" as guests with the comment that in Limburg, you always have to eat in a restaurant, which was certainly not clear from the name. In any case, we think it's completely wrong to turn away guests when they order large drinks, especially when there's nothing going on. Hence, 1 star.

We, a group of four, wanted to take a break at Weinhaus Schultes in Limburg during our bike tour on the Lahn Valley Cycle Path. Since we still had to catch a train in Limburg, we had about 45 minutes to spare. We sat down at a free table outside – the outdoor area wasn't full – and waited. When the waitress came to take our order, she told us that it was a restaurant and we could only have drinks if we also ordered something to eat. We weren't told this rule until we were already seated. Since we couldn't eat due to time constraints, we left the restaurant – unfortunately without having had a drink. We found this approach unwelcoming and inflexible, especially since there was plenty of space and our stay would have been short. It's a shame – we would have appreciated a little refreshment. Unfortunately, this leaves a negative impression.

We spent a wonderful evening there as a group of eight. The atmosphere was cozy. The food was delicious and plentiful. Everything was very appealing. The staff and the owner provided very personal service. He even showed us his wonderful vaulted cellar. It's available for rent for events. Simply brilliant. We felt completely at home and will definitely return. Limburg is definitely worth a visit. We were only there for dinner; I can't comment on the rooms.

The food in the restaurant was very tasty. The prices were typical these days (although higher than on the website). It was definitely worth the money. It was a shame that three of us got our food quickly, while the fourth person didn't get theirs until we were almost finished. It was also busy, though. The ambiance was very nice and inviting. We would definitely come back, if only to try all the appetizers.

We had dinner here for our 48th wedding anniversary. After 35 years, we finally got around to visiting the restaurant. Super friendly staff, a very pleasant atmosphere. Great food with excellent taste.

The four of us Cologne girls visited Weinhaus Schultes twice last week during our stay in Limburg. We can only recommend this place. Whenever we're in Limburg, at least two visits are part of our itinerary. Great location, great food, delicious wines, and the staff are amazing. Always in a good mood. Estefania is simply great.

Sehr gutes Essen in sehr angenehmer und ruhiger Atmosphäre. Uns ist sehr positiv aufgefallen, dass die Teller erst weggeräumt wurden, nachdem alle mit dem Essen fertig waren. Keinerlei Hektik diesbezüglich, wie man es leider immer häufiger in anderen Gaststätten erlebt. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und umgänglich, auch beim Miteinander dort scheint die Chemie zu stimmen. Volle Empfehlung!

To round off our day in Limburg, we (five people) dined at Weinhaus Schultes and were delighted by the ambiance, the courteous and very attentive service, and the quality of the cuisine. We happily followed the recommendations (including burrata on a bed of cherry tomatoes, arugula, and Parma ham with pesto, hot carpaccio, wild boar fillet, tagliatelle with green asparagus, and fried shrimp) and didn't regret it: it was delicious! Thank you for your hospitality and the lovely evening! We would love to come back next time we visit Limburg.

Really very cozy, great food and top service

Our Doppelkopf group, consisting of four women, spent two nights at Weinhaus Schultes. The friendly gentlemen helped us with our suitcases. The rooms were very nice, comfortably furnished, and clean. The lunch was delicious. The value for money was right. We were disappointed when we weren't allowed to sit down in the restaurant in the evening with a glass of wine and play a few rounds of Doppelkopf. For that, we had to go to the neighboring Italian restaurant. Nor could they tell us where to leave our suitcases on the day of departure until our train departed at 5 p.m.

A great place in Limburg's city center. Very child-friendly staff who leave nothing to be desired. Portions are generous and the prices are reasonable, as the quality is very good. We've been here several times and have never had anything to complain about. The ambiance is very quaint.

Wir waren als Paar am 26.04.2025 zu Gast. Unserer Eindruck war, dass man sich sehr willkommen durch den flinken Service fühlt. Sowohl die Vorspeise, welche wir uns geteilt haben, als auch die beiden Hauptspeisen waren ein Genuss. Die Nudeln al dente mit tollem Butter und Salbei-Geschmack, das Steak medium rare, wie bestell-wir waren sehr zufrieden. Die von uns ausgesuchten halbtrockenen Weißweine waren ebenfalls ein Genuss. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Wow...mega...we had dinner there with 4 people today. Tip...Book in advance!!! Great service, nice atmosphere, staff who enjoy their job. Perfect drinks service...but most importantly, super delicious food. Crazy salad, indescribably delicious. Rump steak fried to perfection, cut larger according to your wishes, delicious side dishes and, to top it all off, a great dessert. Kitchen and staff at a very high level...from start to finish. As part of a bike tour, we stayed at Weinhaus Schultes for one night on Easter Saturday and were thrilled. The hotel is beautifully centrally located, lovingly renovated and very tastefully decorated. After a very friendly welcome, we were able to enjoy the excellent food in the dining room, where the service was also very attentive. If we come back to Limburg, we know where we will stay.

A beautiful wine house, with great and attentive service. We only ate there. The soar gel soup and the roast beef were perfect. The German tapas plate wasn't anything special. Arugula was wilted, the toast bun and tomatoes weren't juicy, which is what makes a fresh bruschetta. Three rolls of Kasseler. Price performance overall overpriced.

We only eat at the restaurant and it was great. Very authentic interior and friendly staff. The food was amazing. One of the best cesar salads i’ve ever eaten. Also the goat cheese and chicken with ricotta and mushroom filling was great! We’ll definitely go there again!

If I could, I would give it 50 stars. Beautiful room, within walking distance of everything and the food in the restaurant is great. It is well known that there is no breakfast, but the hotel offers suggestions and they are all within easy reach of the hotel. A great booking service that leaves nothing to be desired, which is not a given. We would definitely like to come back.

Super delicious food. The tender rump steak and gratinated salmon fillet with delicious side dishes were delicious. The service was warm and very attentive. We felt truly at home. The restaurant is tastefully harmonious, cozy, and a well-kept, unique place. We were there for lunch.

We were there for the first time on Friday evening with our 4 year old son. The service was excellent, very courteous and attentive. An ambience that invites you to enjoy your meal. Room? I can only rate the restaurant and it was really good! We were there spontaneously without a reservation, after we had already left, we were very “charmingly” invited back in and they simply made it possible for us to be given a table for four people! Very cool 5 stars for that alone, but the food (tasty and no convenience), the service (super attentive), the innkeeper (a real innkeeper with a sense of humor, I love that kind of thing) and the entire ambience simply picked us up very well! Girlfriends weekend in Limburg with dinner here on Saturday! Cozy nostalgic - we liked it! Warm personal welcome and the wish for a “romantic” table was fulfilled ;-) We felt like regular guests / friends, Torsten (without h) was so nice and attentive with a lot of humor and great wine recommendations. The entire team was very attentive. Tapas á la Hesse: super delicious! Main dishes super delicious! Absolute recommendation!

Rating applies only to the restaurant. Were there on a Sunday at lunchtime. The menu and reviews raised high expectations, which unfortunately were not met. The Food: Not bad enough to complain, but not good enough to justify another visit. The service is decent, but often in private conversations. All in all a disappointment for us.

Once again I had an excellent steak with herb mushrooms. I just can't quite get used to the side salad there. This mainly consists of a bowl with a dollop of mayonnaise in which artfully wrapped Lollorosso leaves are placed. I would taste it better with vinegrett mixed. The ambience is second to none in Limburg and the service is friendly as always. Highly recommended.

War mir meiner Nichte am 20. September 2024 anlaesslich des 90. Geburtstags meiner Tante in Limburg. Wie hatten eine Uebernachtung in Ihren Haus. Das Zimmer war hervorragend. Die Kueche konnten wir lei der nicht testen, da wir privat eingeladen waren. Allerdings wollten wir Nach der Geburtagsfeier am fruehen Abend wenigstens noch einen Wein probieren. Da das Lokal total besetzt war, bot man uns den Personaltisch an und wir hatten noch einen wundervollen und Sehr lustigen Abend. Vor allen Dingen waren wir total begeistert von dem super lieben Personal. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!! Sibylle und Nadine Koch.

It's a shame that the planned meal didn't happen! Unfortunately, the reservation for eight people this evening was not recorded or not recorded correctly, so we had to leave with our group. It is understandable that when I asked again in the full restaurant whether there had been a mix-up, I was cut off on the phone. But it's still annoying!

We then went to a wonderful, cozy Italian wine bar across the street, very friendly, great wines and perfect service!

What can you say: an all-round positive feedback is the only thing - great service, very friendly staff - great cuisine - everything is great - and the Hessian tappas - a poem. Schultes Weinhaus in Limburg's old town is a true gem for wine lovers and gourmets. The selection of wines is first-class, from regional to international top wines - everyone will find something to suit them here. The quality of the wines is outstanding and the friendly staff provide advice with great expertise. Particularly worth mentioning are the delicious dishes that harmonize perfectly with the wines. Whether traditional dishes or creative creations – the food is of the highest quality and very tasty. You immediately feel at home in the cozy atmosphere. Nice location in the old town. Nice and friendly staff. Good selection of food, large portions and tasty. Non-alcoholic (beer) offerings could be more pleasant. There was no water wake-up call on Sundays :( Unfortunately there was no corresponding note when ordering; only in the "complaint" was it mentioned that the bakery doesn't deliver on Sundays. Which you can apparently also read in the menu (?). We'd love to come back.

I had one of the best dinners with my family (wife and daughter 5y) I ever had. Absolutely outstanding service - highly welcoming, humble, caring, professional and authentic. The dining room is very traditional Limburg style within a beautiful building which seems to be maintained very carefully. Food is really good, although portions are quite big - almost too big. We will go there any time again if we are in the area next time. 100% recommendation! We love this place! Thanks to the team for having us and providing us an memorable evening.

Wir haben das Restaurant Haus Schultes am Wochenende besucht. Beim Eintreten des Restaurants wurden wir sehr herzlich empfangen und man konnte spüren das das Personal seinen Job mit Herzblut ausübt. Das Restaurant ist mit Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet und dies macht den Aufenthalt dort sehr angenehm und man fühlt sich dort ein wenig wie " Zu Hause ". Das Essen war wirklich sehr köstlich . Der Himbeergeist zum Abschluss rundete den wunderschönen Abend noch einmal ganz ab...Wir werden dieses tolle Lokal mit Sicherheit wieder besuchen.

Ein wunderschöner Wochenendtrip in Limburg, der mit einem wunderschönen und super leckeren Abendessen im Weinhaus Schultes endete. Das Zimmer hatten wir ebenfalls im historischen Weinhaus Schultes gebucht... Das wunderschön restaurierte Gebäude mit herrlichen antiken Weinkeller (der wurde uns von herzlichen Inhaber persönlich gezeigt und in dem auch wohl Events stattfinden) wird nur noch durch das leckere Essen getoppt... Ein Mix aus regionaler und deutscher Küche, die wunderbar umgesetzt wurde... Serviert vom sympathischen Personal. Ein toller Abend dort, der weit aus mehr für uns bereit hielt als ein fantastisches Abendessen... Wir sind sicher bald wieder dort.

In the middle of the old town Locally cozy has a brewery character 👍 the service is attentive and very friendly. The food was good and plentiful, but if you had a starter then the main course came much too quickly. Good selection of wines 🍷 Good price-performance ratio

We were there with 10 people for dinner and wine tasting. It was highly recommended. The food was simply brilliant, the boss personally led the wine tasting and responded to any special requests. Price-performance was top. Thank you for this great evening!!!

Yesterday we had dinner with 4 people. Beautiful, quaint restaurant. Unfortunately the price/performance ratio wasn't right for us. The Lim burgers we ordered were served almost cold. The burger buns were rock hard to defeat the subsequently ordered steak knives. The veal schnitzel was probably under the Wörmebrücke for too long, because it came to the table dry and only lukewarm. Fluffy breading was a foreign word here. What no guest needs is a kitchen argument at the end, so loud and violent that even the nice Englishman... Ober avoided the kitchen.😅 Conclusion: our travel time of 2 hours was not worth it for this restaurant visit.

A warm welcome and the wait for the room was sweetened with a delicious wine spritzer. Super nice staff and the location of the hotel is great. The food was delicious and the wine was simply great. The old town car park is just a stone's throw away and is also suitable for SUVs - at least for a BMW X4. 😉

Friendly service, beautiful apartment. The food was tasty and very beautifully presented. And all of this in the middle of the medieval center of Limburg an der Lahn.

There were four of us at Weinhaus Schultes. The friendly owner himself came to our table and recommended something that wasn't on the menu. It was simply delicious, nicely prepared and we all enjoyed it. The wines were very tasty and had the perfect drinking temperature. The humorous waiter served us in a friendly and attentive manner. If we came to Limburg again, we would eat there again.

Not recommended for groups. A nice trip to Limburg and a nice evening meal at Weinhaus Schultes, that was the plan on April 27th, 2024. The day in Limburg was really nice, a visit to the old town is highly recommended. Stopping at Weinhaus Schultes with a tour group is not recommended. The food was pre-ordered in advance, the seats were reserved, the wine house opens at 6 p.m., we were there on time and were looking forward to dinner. After we were seated and the drinks were taken, the food was served very quickly, it was probably already prepared. I had ordered a Lim burger, which I thought sounded quite interesting. On the menu it reads as follows: “Lim Burger” freshly grilled slices of roast beef between two halves of water with green sauce, tomatoes, fried onions, lettuce and cucumbers, served with steakhouse fries for €18.90. The dish must have been prepared for a long time and then kept warm. I've never eaten such dry roast beef, such dry steakhouse fries, and such a dry bun in my life. When asked, it was explained that the roll, a water pastry, was a Limburg specialty. I can't imagine the baker baking it so dry. Of course, it can be difficult when you have to feed 30 people at the same time. It certainly makes sense to prepare some things then. But keeping food warm until it's just "dry" is just not right. As a drink I had chosen a Blanc de Noir, which unfortunately was no longer in stock. "Unfortunately it's out of stock," said the service, but "the wine will be back in an hour." The wine was actually there again and was served. I wasn't impressed with the taste of the wine, so I asked if I could see the bottle. "No problem," said the waiter and showed me a still-closed bottle of one of Weinhaus Schulte's own brands, on the label of which there was a reference to the winery from which the wine came from could not be found. When asked, the service employee could not answer the question about the winery. So what did I drink? First the wine wasn't there, then it was there again, I'm served a glass, but the bottle is still closed, strange.

Always happy to go there. Very good German food. Above all, varied and always something new. The wines are also highly recommended. Keep it up.

Eine Sensation… Wir waren mit der Familie mit insgesamt 15 Leuten dort… Alle vor- und Hauptspeisen waren wirklich sehr gut… der Service war auch toll und sehr engagiert… Wirklich empfehlenswert 🤩

We stopped by there by chance (lunchtime) and were thrilled. Very attentive service, cozy, well-kept atmosphere and excellent price/performance ratio of our selected dish.
