Weißbräu Huber in Freising

The garden looks inviting. Lunch isn't from the lunch menu! Roast pork, meat is mediocre. What's absolutely unacceptable, though, are dumplings that have been reheated several times... Keller wasn't particularly interested; he would have passed it on to the kitchen.

The only Bavarian restaurant in Freising. It offers good value for money, but isn't really suitable for tourists. The side salad is just that: tiny, really just a concession to the changing restaurant culture. I go there when I'm hungry or when I unexpectedly want to eat with a group of more than seven people without a reservation.

We went there for a special menu on Wednesday, a burger and fries with refill for 9.99 euros It was really worthy, the meat was really meat😂 and tasty. Service was ok and normal The only point that was a little bit unpleasant, was the odor in the atmosphere

The Swiss sausage salad was completely dry on top and swimming in a rather bland vinegar sauce at the bottom. The cheese had little flavor of its own. The pickles and onions were plentiful and delicate. When asked for oil and vinegar, only vinegar was served. The rhubarb spritzer had a lot of spritzer and not much rhubarb. Presumably optimized for thirst quenching on hot days.

We were in Freising at the end of July and had dinner at Huber's. We had a very pleasant evening. The food was good, even small portions were offered, the guests were friendly, and the service was prompt.

I visited the Weißbräu Huber in Freising on August 8, 2025, around 3 p.m. The beautiful outdoor area under the trees is inviting. Since only the reduced menu was available, I opted for the pork roast. It came with two slices of meat, two different types of dumplings, and a small portion of coleslaw. Unfortunately, the quality was very mixed. While one slice was tender, the other was noticeably tough. Both dumplings were rather firm and neither fluffy nor light. Overall, the dish was only average, especially considering the prices are in the mid-to-high range. What I remember most negatively, however, was the service. The staff seemed unfriendly to the point of being rude – loud tones, grim expressions, and a lack of attentiveness or hospitality. Such behavior is disappointing for an inn of this tradition. All in all, it was a very below-average and negative experience for me. As a lover of Bavarian cuisine, I unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant.

Extensive menu with many regional dishes

A beautifully located inn. Unfortunately, the hygiene was so-so. The sweet mustard was packaged and dirty, too. The dishes weren't completely clean either. The white sausage tasted slightly sour, which is always a matter of taste, but it fit the bill. Service was OK—they really could do better with it.

We were recommended to visit the place because of its history, and it's truly worth it. The service was a bit slow, but the food is very traditional and delicious.

I've been a regular guest at Weissbräu Huber since 2005. For a long time, the food was excellent. When tourists asked me for a good restaurant, I naturally sent them to Huber! Unfortunately, the food has declined significantly in the last two or three years, so that most of the food is edible, but not enjoyable! At least you could still rely on the roast pork, which always tasted good, tender meat and a fine sauce. Yes, I just went there for a roast pork just like that... substandard. The meat was overcooked. My father even got the end piece... inedible. More than half of it went back. For me, that was my last visit.

Good location in the city center. The menu is of good Bavarian standard, but the service is a bit patchy. I come here often because it's conveniently located, but overall, it doesn't deserve more than 3 stars.

They actually had two vegan dishes on the menu, and I was very impressed! Unfortunately... I didn't particularly like the burger, and it was quite salty. The atmosphere was nice, but it was incredibly loud inside, so you couldn't really have a conversation.

Nice food and beers, with a good outside seating area. However I'm not impressed with the waiters asking you to leave a tip when paying by credit card, this appalling habit is widespread in Freising but appears to be purely aimed at tourist's rather than locals. The management of these establishments need to put a stop to it and this is my reason for only giving 1 star

The beer garden is usually a popular place. On my last visit, I ordered salmon pasta with cream. The portion was noticeably small and unfortunately tasteless, with a few shreds of smoked salmon. After I asked the waiter about it, I was told that the portion size was equivalent to a lunch meal. My complaint was generally ignored and, apart from excuses, completely ignored. A small apology or at least a general acceptance of the criticism would have been welcome.

These dumplings aren't authentically Bavarian. They contain a yellow, oriental-flavored spice that doesn't belong there. What a shame.

The decline of Huber...I've known the restaurant for 40 years, but what's currently on offer there is absolutely abysmal. "Oven-fresh roast pork" is an insult to the palate. It's only good for double-up your shoes. What a shame. I'll warn all my friends and never come back.

No, I've never eaten such a bad roast. No crust, dry as a straw, dumplings rock hard and flavorless.

The food was delicious; everything was perfect. The roast was crispy and tasted freshly cooked. Unfortunately, the bread dumplings didn't really impress me; our cafeteria chef simply had a knack for it. The bread dumplings were a bit squashed together and lacked a fluffy texture. But you can definitely say it was solid, classic Bavarian cuisine. My wife's intolerances were even taken into consideration.

Nice Bavarian restaurant. It's a shame many of the beers are only served in bottles.

In a small, remote corner, nice but there isn't much choice

We ate there on June 21st around 6 p.m. The food and value for money were truly excellent. Great German cuisine and a very nice beer garden. However, the service is not recommended. Extremely unfriendly! Special requests or changes to the dish are charged €3. When we tried to order the dumplings, we were told it wasn't possible. When we asked if dessert was sold out, we were told as we walked away that it would take too long for the kitchen. It's a shame when a good restaurant loses quality because of the staff's efforts.

Even as a Butzele, we knew: We only wanted to eat at Weißbräu Huber. Two pots full of the finest duck legs, roast pork, pork loin, Nuremberg sausages, potato dumplings, bread dumplings, sauerkraut, red cabbage, potato pancakes with apple sauce, and three different sauces. This is the heavenly combination you get when you choose the "Ludwig II" pancake in Freising's most rustic restaurant. While you're there, a cool drop of wheat beer trickles down your overwhelmed palate, you'll remember this meal better than your first date. And if that weren't enough, the average person is physically unable to get up afterward. This meal, for which we resisted our earthly desires for a year so that we could now slaughter the piggy bank at the end of the year, provides us with both nutritional and spiritual support in the hard life of a student. We never could have imagined that it would snow that evening and that the city center would be bathed in a magnificent winter landscape. So we would like to thank you, dear staff of the Weißbräustüberl, as well as King Ludwig II, for this incomparably delicious meal. Thank you and God bless you!

Freising in June 2025 was essentially a bit of a disappointment. En route to Austria, we spent a night off the highway in Freising. In search of a hearty Bavarian meal, we stumbled through Freising's picturesque old town, but discovered that the inns on the large square, with their prime location, weren't exactly hearty. Greek and pizza—we weren't exactly thrilled. Luckily, a little further along the pedestrian zone, we discovered the Huber Brauhaus. It lived up to our stereotypes: a beer garden, draft beer, and typical dishes. The service was casually Bavarian, and the food was hearty. We had the roast pork and a snack with sausages. That was official. The highlight by far, and the reason for this review, was the Huber Weisse on tap. A dream of a wheat beer. Wonderfully fruity aroma on the nose and a perfectly fine foam. Just about the best wheat beer I've ever tasted. Absolutely fantastic! Unfortunately, the pale bock beer was already sold out, so I had to settle for a relatively unspectacular Helles to finish off my meal. But the wheat beer is world-class. Period.

Local dishes served quickly and delicious. A traditional inn. However, it's very noisy, as many tourists (including me) frequent the inn. So far, I've always managed to get a seat.

Bavarian food at its finest! I love coming here; the food is amazing! Tasty, authentically Bavarian, and well-prepared. From roast pork to Obazdn (traditional Austrian sausage), everything is there. It's cozy, just like home. If you love Bavarian food, you absolutely have to come here!

The waiters are always friendly and attentive. The food is delicious. It's a Hofbräuhaus... nothing more, nothing less. And that's a good thing. The locals always welcome you warmly.

Very rustic inn in the heart of Freising. The restaurant is the home of the well-known Huber Weissbier, so the beer is really recommended. The food is good Bavarian food and there is a wide selection here from salads to roast pork.

The servers were very friendly, and the dining room was cozy. The food can be quick, perhaps a little too quick. The cheese spaetzle were okay, but rather unloving. Ready-made fried onions were on top, and it came with a mini salad with ready-made dressing.

A mini point perhaps for the service, it wasn't completely full but we still had to wait a relatively long time for service after we had our food. Wir haben dieses Restaurant vor unserem Urlaub besucht, da wir von München aus geflogen sind und vorher noch etwas essen wollten. Unsere Idee war es, ein traditionell bayerisches Lokal zu finden, um dort entsprechend zu speisen. Über Google sind wir auf dieses Restaurant gestoßen und haben uns aufgrund der Bewertungen dazu entschieden, es auszuprobieren. Leider war unser Besuch eine herbe Enttäuschung. Das Essen machte den Eindruck, als bestünde es ausschließlich aus Fertiggerichten – es fehlte jegliche Mühe oder Liebe zur Küche. Ein anderer Bewerter schrieb, dass er nur deshalb einen Stern vergeben hat, weil es nicht möglich war, keinen Stern zu vergeben. Diesen Eindruck teilen wir vollkommen, ebenso wie eine weitere Person aus unserer Gruppe. Besonders fragwürdig fanden wir die Preisgestaltung. Wenn man für einen Burger 20 € verlangt, sollte dieser zumindest eine gewisse Qualität haben. Doch wenn man bedenkt, dass man bei McDonald's für 3 bis 5 € einen Burger bekommt, der um Welten besser schmeckt, sollte das Restaurant dringend sein Konzept überdenken. Leider war dies nicht nur auf den Burger beschränkt – auch die anderen Gerichte entsprachen demselben niedrigen Qualitätsstandard. Wir haben unsere Unzufriedenheit beim Kellner angesprochen. Fairerweise muss man sagen, dass der Service in Ordnung war. Der Kellner hat sich bemüht und uns sogar angeboten, einen Teil des Geldes zurückzuerstatten. Dies habe ich jedoch abgelehnt, da es mir nicht um das Geld ging, sondern um das grundsätzliche Problem mit der Qualität des Essens. Unterm Strich zahlt man hier Preise auf Mercedes-Niveau und bekommt – wenn überhaupt – die Qualität eines Dacia. Und das ist noch milde ausgedrückt. Leider absolut nicht zu empfehlen.

Nice old historic shop in the center of this small area. We went for lunch, weekdays, without a reservation, but we easily found a place to sit, because the shop is very large and has tables outside. The service is very good, helpful and friendly staff (I was particularly happy to find two Greeks working there)! The food is delicious, the portions seemed a bit small to me, but ok. Prices a bit stingy..I recommend it to those who want to live a classic German experience.

At Huber's the food is no longer what it used to be... My Maultaschen were too salty and what used to come on a nice big plate was now served in smaller bowls. In addition, the prices have doubled and the service is poor... It's a shame!

I hardly post negative reviews, but this was necessary. I have been to this restaurant now 3 times in the last 5 years and reviewed it at least once giving them a 5 star. This was the third worst meal of my life and I've been all over the World for the last 35 years. Service was nice and attentive until they asked me how my meal was and I told him it was unedible. I asked him to bring some fries and they were cold, fast food fries at best. Whatever they served me was recommended by the waiter and it came out within 45 seconds of me ordering it. It was dry and salty. He asked me, how did you like it? I politely said that ut wasn't good at all and he took the plate away. I only had 1 bite of each, except for the sauerkrout which was good. There is so many options in Freising and this has gone downhill I think. They should have taken some of the charges off the ticket for the dry salty pork thing with the 2 balls of non edible food matter soaked in the salt brown lake water , but they didn't even bother to offer a discount. They knew that It was bad, but they just didn't care. Not returning here.

Alles gut außer : Soßen müssten würziger sein ! Schweinsbraten Soße ist schwach ! Zwiebelsaft und Knoblauch gehören dazu !👍

We always enjoy being here. Great “Bavarian” cuisine. Well, there is also a touch of “Austrian” there. Great, quick and friendly staff. No matter how many people you are there with, the food is served at the same time. This makes eating out really fun

Excellent restaurant near Munich airport.

This will be difficult for me now, as I have often stopped by the Huber before. Today I was out and about with my best friend in Freising and we needed something to snack on. I had the cordon bleu with fried potatoes and a side salad, she had the currywurst. It's a shame because the last few times the food was really good! The spaetzle in particular “rocked”, if I can put it that way. Today several things went wrong. The fried potatoes were soggy, dripping with fat, not crispy, and the spring onions were burnt in places. The cordon bleu wasn't cooked through in the middle, the cheese tasted very synthetic and the breading wasn't crispy but juicy and there was a lack of salt and pepper everywhere. The Cordon Bleu ate like a sponge. I don't know that about Huber. I have to be very critical when it comes to salad. The lettuce leaves were wilted in places, the red onion was spicy like a butcher's onion, although it should have been rather sweet. Of particular note were the tomato slices, which for some reason tasted like fried fish. The currywurst was lukewarm, the ketchup curry sauce was cold and the fries were not crispy, but rather on the greasy side. No freshly filled deep fryer was used here. I wouldn't go into so much detail if it were about a snack bar at the train station that churns out its fast food in unison. My dish cost a hefty 21 euros. We will remain loyal to the inn. Hopefully they just had a bad day today!

Nach langen sind wir wieder zum Essen zum Huberwirt gegangen.Wir bestellten aus der Mittagskarte Wienerschnitzel und Schaschliktopf mit Pommes.Nach 3min.kam das Wienerschnitzel kann mir keiner erzählen dass das frisch zubereitet ist in 3min. Der Schaschliktopf kam mit zermanschten Pommes in einem Topf unmöglich.Ich schaute mich in der Wirtschaft um überall Spinnweben und total schmuddelig.Macht hier keiner sauber? Dann besuchte ich die Toiletten ein Wahnsinn von 4 Pissuare waren 3 defekt die Toilette genauso ungepflegt wie die Wirtschaft. Zusammenfassend zu teuer für Fertiggerichte und ungepflegt. Absolut nicht empfehlenswert!!!

The cordon bleu with cranberries and fried potatoes was delicious. The naturally cloudy beer we ordered is so delicious that even the (alcohol?) sick (tribe?) guests reach over the table and want to snatch the beer away from you. Something like that shouldn't be tolerated and that's why there is a star deduction.

Wir waren als Familie mit Besuch aus Amerika zum essen dort. Es ist wohl ein Fehler schon bei der Reservierung aufgetreten. Wir waren 10 Personen hatten auch für diese reserviert und wurden an einen Tisch für 6 platziert. Der Kellner den wie auf das Problem angesprochen hatten ,hat sehr unfreundlich reagiert. Wir wurden dann umgesetzt und ab dann eigentlich mehr oder weniger ignoriert. Es wurde ein Essen vergessen und auf Getränkebestellungen wenig Wert gelegt. Das Essen war mittelmäßig bis schlecht. Ich war zuerst begeistert weil es eine relativ große Auswahl für Vegetarier gibt. Ich bestellte mir ein Rösti mit Blattspinat und Spiegelei. Der Spinat und das Ei waren ok. Der Rösti hat vor Fett getrieft.Das war ungenießbar. Der Rest war auch nicht froh über das essen. Wir werden da nicht mehr hin gehen

In addition, it is way overpriced for this quality. The food consists more of ready meals and the staff is unfriendly and inattentive. When we tried to order drinks for the second time, the waiter looked at us, ignored us and turned his attention to the next table. This restaurant is definitely not recommended!

Keinen Besuch wert und absolute Katastrophe!!! Leider muss man hier zwangsläufig mindestens einen Punkt vergeben, obwohl dieses Restaurant keinen Punkt verdient hat. Das Restaurant wirkt im Detail schmutzig und heruntergekommen. Darüber hinaus ist es preislich für diese Qualität viel zu überteuert. Das Essen besteht eher aus Fertiggerichten und das Personal ist unfreundlich und unaufmerksam. Als wir zum zweiten Mal Getränke bestellen wollten, schaute uns der Kellner an, ignorierte uns und widmete seine Aufmerksamkeit dem Nachbartisch. Dieses Restaurant ist auf keinen Fall zu empfehlen!

Great food, beautiful restaurant, and fabulous vibes. The waiters were really good. The had English menus which was nice for me. The age of the restaurant and the amount of famous people who had been there was amazing to me. Our hotel recommended this place and they were right! We were so happy with our dinner and drinks here. We had trout, perch, a bottle of Chardonnay and these apricot dumplings that were to die for.

Food was very good. The price is still okay. Service was friendly. We just froze all evening. Freezing temperatures outside and no heating inside. Many guests sat there with winter jackets. Unfortunately, the waitress can't turn on the heating; supposedly only the boss can do that.

I had a vegan burget. In my opinion the patty was frozen. The service is very good and the atmosphere is rustic.

We eat here every time we come to the Munich area and are always happy with everything! This time was no different! Our last night in Germany before departing the next day back to the US and we brought friends as well. We all loved our food! It was the duck special night and that's what our friends ordered and found the meal to be delicious. We ordered a schnitzel and rump steak and as always found them delicious! Never disappoints!

I only went to Weißbräu Huber with my children because a child needed a toilet. In front of the entrance it was written: "Children's punch for children €2.50 and for adults €4". Since I had previously been to the Freising Christmas market with the children and the children's punch there cost €4, I had refrained from buying some there, but the offer at Weißbräu Huber seemed so fair to me that we sat down. Since the menu also contains a very extensive children's section, I also ordered a portion of fries for each of the children for €3.30. The portion was a bit small, but when we paid the friendly waiter said: "So, three children's punch and a mulled wine makes 13€." When I said: "And the fries too." said the waiter: "No, they're on the house this time." When I asked, “Why?” he said: "Because we are a child-friendly inn."

The restaurant was surprising. The atmosphere was that of a tavern, but with a modern feel. The service was very accommodating and friendly. The innkeepers are restaurateurs who know their job! Can only be recommended! There aren't many good middle-class taverns with good food anyway!

That was a feast. The innkeeper could already tell that, in addition to eating, I was primarily interested in drinking and provided me with numerous delicious beer creations. The fries took a bit of time - but the friendly host made up for this shortcoming, which was also due to the high number of visitors, with his wonderfully characterful manner! That's how it works!

The two of us were there for dinner today, we were greeted immediately and friendly by a waiter, we ate ox schnitzel and boiled beef, the portions were plentiful and tasted excellent. The waiter was always ready and served us very friendly. We have read the other reviews and can give our five stars with a clear conscience!
