The reservation over the phone was super easy. There were four of us and we sat in the courtyard. The courtyard is cute but narrow. We really enjoyed the food. As a starter we had vegetarian spring rolls (nothing special, less recommended) and lobster crab sate (very tasty). We had skin dishes - 261: very tasty curry, but I didn't like the tempeh so much - 263: very tasty - 265: very tasty, but also very sweet in the long run - Unfortunately I forgot the number, but it was the beef dish with coconut sauce: very tasty and can only recommend all the main courses! The overall impression of the service was a bit harsh/rough and chaotic (glasses were forgotten for drinks, appetizers were served without plates, guests at the neighboring table were asked to move around rather rudely, etc.). The price was a bit pricey at around 16.50 euros per (vegetarian) dish More expensive, but overall very tasty. Nice atmosphere and delicious food, overall I can only recommend Warung Bayu!

Tofu with peanut sauce, the best dish - €16.50 - is also enough for two people. The ambience could be a little nicer, a second card payment machine and air conditioning would be good.

My favorite restaurant in Cologne, even if it looks a bit inconspicuous from the outside. Great dishes! The "Cah Tahu Buncis" made me a tofu lover and everything on the mixed starter platter "Bali Brumbun" tastes good. Very friendly staff, although the head waiter is sometimes very persistent with his food recommendations. 😃 The restaurant is almost always full, so sometimes you can't get a table even for two people. So I definitely recommend making a reservation!

For Indonesians, their food is top-notch, especially the Bebek Bengil. If you need sambal, you can ask; they serve it separately. The restaurant is cozy, although small. The staff are also very welcoming and helpful. We came with a baby and a pram, and it would be great if they could cater to similar guests like us by providing chairs for babies and toddlers.

Reservation is an advantage! A very busy restaurant. Rightly so. We were warmly welcomed and looked after quickly, kindly and always with a smile throughout the evening. It tastes delicious and is prepared quickly, no long waiting times. The portions are very generous, so we share a main course between two people. A two starters to share in the middle is definitely fine. Due to the portion size, each person pays around €8/9, which is more than fair! The ambience is good with some Indonesian decorative influences but otherwise hardly any frills. We'd love to come back.

The food here is really delicious. Everything is very tasteful and well seasoned. The food is placed on small warmers in the middle of the table and is therefore ideal for sharing different dishes. I don't think it was very comfortable to sit, but that could also have been because our table was right next to a passage. I found it a bit of a shame that the staff couldn't really advise/recommend when choosing cocktails or dishes.

265 is my absolute favorite dish and I never order anything else there

Rude and disrespectful with customers

We've gone to Wayung Bayu several times, my wife is from Indonesia, I convinced her to go there once and she loves the food! It's authentic Indonesian. We can only recommend the restaurant!

Top restaurant, we return here every year around the time of the Christmas markets. Always a good start to a weekend away. If you like Indonesian cuisine then go for it! A reservation is recommended. I didn't take any photos because of the delicious food and good conversations with friends and my wife. The dish with tofu, peanut sauce and teriyaki sauce is an absolute must! Coincidentally in Cologne and lacking inspiration, just do it. The only downside is that it is sometimes very warm.

Very tasty, authentic food like I'm used to at home in Bali. The staff was very friendly and the food came quickly. Portions are large, we had the rest packed. Happy to come back!

Super tasty food, but you should definitely make a reservation in advance. Portions are quite large, so it's worth considering sharing a portion between two people (and ordering an appetizer as well).

We came here on the recommendation of a podcast to try the "best fried tofu". As soon as we walked in, we noticed the hectic pace and almost how annoyed the waiters were (at us?). The question as to whether we were allowed to sit outside, even though there was at least one table for two people available outside for the duration of our visit, was curtly answered in the negative. The drinks and food came quite quickly. It was okay but I absolutely cannot understand the reviews or the waiter who constantly pointed out that number 265 is probably the best and most popular dish on the menu. I've had my tofu fried better and with more flavor (roll the tofu in cornstarch, fry it, take it out and mix the soy sauce + other ingredients in the pan, let it thicken, add the tofu for a minute and you're done). In addition, I have to say that all the other tables that were there in pairs got a large portion of rice or two small portions and we only got a small portion - when we ordered a second one, we were also charged for it in the end. It took at least 20 minutes for our table to be cleared and there didn't seem to be any need to ask us if we would like dessert or another drink. When the waiter cleared away, he spread all the leftover sauce on the table and the floor - luckily not on us, but a short "Oh, sorry" or "I hope you didn't get anything, I'm sorry" isn't really allowed either A lot to ask - right? I really have to say that I am very disappointed with the way we have been treated. When I paid, I also had the feeling that I was just annoying the waiter and that he was happy to be rid of us. This is super petty but I paid in cash (since only EC cards work) and the waiter took the notes and simply "threw" them behind the counter as if they were rubbish. Very arrogant, ignorant, disrespectful and rude - not a feel-good atmosphere like you're used to. There are certainly better restaurants with much friendlier staff in Cologne :)

ordered no 265 from the menu. Food came quickly although it was full house. Portion was quite big, and it was also very tasty 👍 the dessert of the black stick rice pudding was also nice. However the guy with the glasses, probably the owner, was surprisingly unfriendly. The order was taken in a rush and after you just finished your meal, he slapped the bill on your table as a sign for you leave.

Despite a reservation, we had to wait 20 minutes and then change tables again. The waiters were all in a hurry and running back and forth. We had a table more or less in the aisle and were constantly jostled. When choosing the food, we were asked to choose from three dishes that were the most popular. Of course, this also included the highly praised dish 265. We also ordered this and it was also very good, but it consists of 90% tofu. A few beans, peanut sauce and rice. The second dish we had was the 266, which was very well seasoned and served with lots of vegetables. But unfortunately the vegetables only saw the pan for a very short time and were therefore almost raw. When preparing it, you also had the feeling that everything had to happen quickly. We hadn't eaten our starter yet when the main course was already on the table. The atmosphere was not comfortable, actually enough to run away from. Somehow you always had the feeling that you should eat quickly and leave again (quickly).

Leckeres und authentisches Essen, Preis/ Leistung ok. Interessant war die Auswahl und Entscheidungsfindung mit dem Wirt. Gast:“Wir bitte nehmen … und noch….” Wirt:”Nein, das nehmen sie nicht!” 😳 Pause “Ich empfehle das… mit dem… zu nehmen!” Achso, hat gepasst, aber lustig bis eigenartig.

This was the second time I was here again after many years. We used to joke with Bayu, he was warm, in a good mood. We always looked forward not only to the food, but also to him and his team. Today the service is almost non-existent. The service team simply doesn't care whether you want something to drink or dessert. What's wrong with Bayu? He is in a bad mood and exudes an annoyed, sometimes aggressive mood. Unfortunately, I have the feeling that the shop has become self-sustaining over the years because of the good food and the team thinks they no longer need to make any effort and no longer value their guests. It's a shame, because I can even tell from the food that it was cooked “quickly, quickly”. Unfortunately disappointing.

Tofu with green beans, eggplant and peanut sauce, super delicious! It's better locally than at home, but you clearly can't have everything at the moment.

Really Good Food and nice Service

If I could, I would give 3.5 stars. We had reserved a table for 7 and were seated at the front, right by the front door, where the traffic was very busy and it was very loud. Not exactly comfortable. The food came incredibly quickly and was arranged in the middle to be shared, as was the rice that came with it. I thought it tasted pretty good, but not a highlight either. The waiter (boss?) was very direct and in my opinion too much. Unfortunately, the bill was placed on the table immediately after our meal when we didn't want to order new drinks straight away. Despite reservations, we had to leave the restaurant after <1 hour. Definitely a top restaurant to satisfy your hunger quickly, but not for a cozy and sociable evening.

All in all, our evening here was just “okay”. Unfortunately, the two curries didn't taste like anything and the other dishes were rather bland. The staff is very friendly, but there is almost no service. The empty glasses are simply cleared away without asking if you want anything new and then you are left sitting there until you get up yourself and go pay. we won't go there again.

Unfortunately the food is quite tasteless. The curry was really not good. The other dishes OK. But if you like spicy food, you shouldn't eat here. If there had been a service, we would definitely have left a few euros more.

Ich war immer gerne Gast, weil mir das Essen geschmeckt hat, aber was gestern dort ablief hat uns sprachlos gemacht und wir werden nicht mehr wieder kommen. Meine Freundin wollte nachträglich die selbe Vorspeise bestellen wie ich, da ich meinen Teller grade bekommen hatte, der entsprechend voll war, meinte der Kellner mit der Brille(denke es ist der Chef), dass ich erstmal aufessen soll, bevor sie bestellen darf und sich an meinem Teller bedienen soll, sie hat diskutiert, dass sie gerne ihren eigenen Teller mit der Vorspeise hätte, der Kellner sagte nein, sie kriege erst Essen, wenn ich aufgegessen habe, da die Vorspeise ja nur ganz frisch schmecken würde, wir wissen bis jetzt nicht warum man seinen Gästen verwehrt Essen zu bestellen, wir haben auch nach dem ich aufgegessen habe ihre Vorspeise nicht bekommen, Service ist eine Katastrophe, danach nicht mal ein danke oder tschüss zu sagen geht gar nicht, Service müsstet ihr noch lernen !

Erneut ein super Erlebnis mit der balinesischen Küche - gerade auch die végane Variante. Obwohl ich gar kein Veganer bin. Noch nie so ein gutes Tofu-Gericht gekostet.

Essen war gut. Hatte die 265. Saßen im mittendrin.. war recht voll. Ambiente dort ist ausbaufähig. Preise sind in Ordnung.

Nr. 265 - frittierter Tofu - ist das beste Gericht überhaupt! Absolute Empfehlung. Für 14,50 Euro sehr sehr faires Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Die Erdnusssoße ist top und den Tofu noch nie besser gegessen als dort.

Das Essen war schon recht gut und diesbezüglich würden wir es weiterempfehlen. Was nicht so toll war, einem wird versucht auf eine penetrante Art und Weise die 265 anzudrehen. Wir waren an einem Montag, es war nega voll, sehr sehr laut und due Tische stehen viel zu eng. Wir haben uns dann beim Eingang neben due Kasse gesetzt, da war es ok von der Lautstärke, aber Betrieb wie am HBF. Sollte es beim nächsten mal wieder so voll sein, dann gehen wir einfach woanders hin und probieren es ein anderes mal wieder. Die Akustik ist in dem Kellerloch jedoch so schrecklich, dass alles noch lauter wird.

Das Essen war gut. Ob es authentisch indonesisch ist, mag an der jeweiligen Region in Indonesien liegen. Mit über 270 Millionen Einwohnern, über 200 Sprachen und 7.000 bewohnten Inseln bietet Indonesien wirklich sehr vielfältige Speisen 😉. Der angenehme Außenbereich kompensierte die Hektik des Servicepersonals und die Küche war sehr schnell.

Essen war gut und reichlich. Interessant was man aus einem Hinterhof alles machen kann, leider zu viele Raucher 😬😔. Meine Frau und Freundin meiner Tochter hatten am anderen Tag eine schlimme Blasenentzündung 🤷🏻‍♂️ (Toilette wurde von beiden benutzt)

Essen war gut. Nach dem Servieren von Speisen und Getränken hat's beim Service leider aufgehört. Leere Gläser wurden abgeräumt ohne nachzufragen ob man noch ein Getränk möchte.

Essen immer top ! Service ein bisschen langsam

Ich war zum ersten Mal dort. Auch sonntags noch ohne Reservierung und Wartezeit einen Tisch bekommen. Sehr schön mit den drei Sitzmöglichkeiten drinnen, Wintergarten und draußen. Meist passende, geschmackvolle Deko, aber lieblos drüber geworfene rote Tischläufer - dafür sind die Tische nicht schön genug. Der Service war überwiegend freundlich, uns wurden Gerichte empfohlen und abgesehen von einem Getränk war die Wartezeit absolut vertretbar. Laut meinem Mann war das Essen schon mal besser, ich persönlich fand es geschmacklich nicht so schlecht, aber eben auch kein wiederholwürdiges Highlight. Das Verhältnis der Gemüse/Frucht Sorten bei 264 würde ich anpassen, denn wenn Bananen mit auf der Karte angepriesen werden, möchte ich die Bananen nicht suchen müssen (es waren 4 Stücke drin). Im letzten Löffel, den ich aus der Schale nahm, war leider ein Haar drin… die Kellnerin hat sich entschuldigt. Fazit: ich würde hier nicht noch mal essen gehen, dafür stimmte das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nicht.

Die Karte wirkt erstmal klein, bietet aber wunderbare Spezialitäten. Es gibt eine prima Beratung bzw. Empfehlungen, das Essen selbst ist sehr lecker und abwechslungsreich gewürzt, auch bei Gerichten, die man eigentlich schon von anderswo zu kennen meinte. Preise absolut fair, Reservierung zu empfehlen, besonders, wenn man im kleinen Innenhof sitzen möchte (der aber mangels Schirmen nicht regenfest ist).

Sooo lecker! Immer wenn ich in Köln bin gehen wir hier schmausen. Die 265 ist der Hammer - ich hab keine Ahnung wie die den Tofu so lecker bekommen, da zieht es einem die Schuhe aus. Dazu nehmen wir als zweites Gericht meist die 264 - längst nicht so lecker aber geschmacklich eine gute Ergänzung. Toll toll toll ..

Food is so delicious, many vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices. Very cozy backgarden, and friendly staff! Five stars!

Ein Restaurant ohne jede Atmosphäre. Hier sollte sich zudem die Gewerbeaufsicht mal umsehen. Tische und Stühle stehen dicht an dicht und es wird höllisch laut. Ich vermute, dass die vorhandene Fläche weit über die zugelassene Gästeanzahl genutzt wird. Entsprechend ist das Personal hoffnungslos überfordert. Wir haben nach ca. 10 Minuten unseren Tisch wieder verlassen und haben es uns in einem nahegelegem Steakhaus gut gehen lassen. Für ein gemütliches Essen absolut ungeeignet und nicht empfehlenswert.

Das Essen ist sehr lecker aber wir hatten auch Probleme mit dem Service. Mir wurde durch den Kellner aus Versehen mein Glas Wein über meine Hose und mein Oberteil gekippt (was mal passieren kann). Das leere Glas wurde dann stehen gelassen und kein neues gebracht. Auf Nachfrage haben wir dann den Wein ersetzt bekommen. Später auf der Rechnung haben wir gesehen, dass der zweite Wein berechnet wurde.

Ein wunderschönes Restaurant, mit einem tollen Innenhof. Und das aller wichtigste...legger essen. Danke, wir haben eine schöne und entspannte Zeit gehabt. Kommen gerne wieder !

Wir lieben den Innenhof des Warung Bayu und haben hier schon viele schöne Stunden verbracht. Das Essen ist jedes Mal hervorragend, egal ob Salat (Keredok ist köstlich), Tofu (über Cah Tahu Buncis wurde schon oft geschwärmt) oder Fleisch - und auch die Cocktails lassen sich an einem schönen Abend im Innenhof gut trinken.

Qualitativ gut, Portionen groß, Preis fair.

If you miss Indonesian food, this could be an alternative option. However, we have to be rational and acknowledge that Indonesian food in Germany may not taste as good as the original. The service could also be improved. Better come with Reservations.

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, wir haben über PayPal bezahlt und in der Anmerkung geschrieben, dass wir extra Erdnusssauce wünschen und diese bar bezahlen. Wir haben keine extra Erdnusssauce erhalten und leider war in dem anderen Gericht (Cah Tabu Buncis) welches wir bestellt haben, nur die Hälfte der Erdnusssauce enthalten und auch nur eine einzige Aubergine im ganzen Gericht. Wir hatten auch als Anmerkung dazu geschrieben bitte mit reichlich Auberginen, da wir letztes Mal im Restaurant waren und da waren auch kaum welche drinnen. Und jetzt einfach mal nur eine einzige und wirklich die Hälfte der Erdnusssauce. Wir haben im Restaurant angerufen und der Herr am Telefon- vermute der Besitzer war sehr unfreundlich und teilte uns mit, dass es die Schuld von lieferando sei, da diese uns hätten mitteilen müssen, dass wir nix extra bestellen können. Ok, lassen wir mal so stehen. Aber das wir nur eine Aubergine und die Hälfte der der Erdnusssauce hatten, obwohl wir den vollen Preis bezahlt haben ist mehr als unverschämt. Darauf ist er nicht eingegangen er ist immer lauter geworden und hat uns nicht ausreden lassen, bis wir aufgelegt haben. Nicht mehr weiterzuempfehlen!!! Leider ein echter Reinfall.

Wir hatten einen Gruppentisch im vorderen Bereich des Restaurants und waren sehr zufrieden. Viele von uns haben die 265 bestellt- sehr lecker und eine wirklich gute Portion! Es war für einen Dienstagabend viel los, im hinteren Bereich kann es ggf. lauter werden - vorne war es genau richtig. Kommen gerne wieder.

Der karamellisierte Tofu (Cah Tahu buncis) ist einfach der Hammer! Unbedingt probieren.

Eigentlich ein schöner Laden und auch das Essen war ganz okay, besonders das Tofu. Aber: viel zu eng bestuhlt. Man wird ständig von irgend jemand angerempelt oder muss mit dem Stuhl rücken. Die Tür zur Terrasse, ständig auf und zu, es zieht wie blöde, aber das interessiert keinen. Überhaupt könnte das Personal um einiges freundlicher sein. Ja, es hat schon den Anschein von Massenabfertigung. Also nichts für Leute mit Platzangst und es ist schrecklich laut. Gemütlich essen gehen sieht bei mir anders aus.

1. 2. 3. Chance Beim 1. Mal war es super! Keinerlei Mängel! 2. Das Restaurant war ausgebucht und Wartezeit war OK! Essen bei mir, Ente, OK! TOFU-Gericht bei den anderen Super! Heute, 3. mal: Bestellung aufgegeben, Vorspeise kam umgehend, an die Getränke musste erinnert werden und dann kam der Hauptgang kalt! Dieser ging zurück und kam nach ca. 8 Minuten zurück! LAUWARM! Geschmackserlebnis ging so! Da ich schon besseres erlebt habe gibts nur zwei Sterne! Essen gehen wird zum Luxusgut und dann sollte die Qualität und der Service stimmen! Wenn der Laden ausgebucht ist, drücke ich ein Auge zu! Ist aber gefühlt der Laden nur halb voll, dann erwarte ich mehr! Sorry das letzte Mal!

Waiter/owned (I think) thought our order wasn't good...and then he recommended what we should actually take and honestly said....it was amazing. Best tofu dish I've ever had in my life.

The food was ok but the general experience was bad because of the service. We had two waiters, a young guy who was very nice and an older guy who was extremely rude and gave us an attitude the entire evening without clear reason. I am not coming back.

Großartiges Essen, ich bin regelmäßig dort. Nummer 265, Auberginen- und Tofustücke in dunkler würziger Sauce, an Erdnusssauce ist göttlich. Der Service ist meistens freundlich.

Hat leider nachgelassen :-( Dass signature dish 265, welches ich seeehr lecker fand, ist nicht mehr so gut abgeschmeckt. Auch hatte ich mein Gericht sehr scharf bestellt, was im September noch sehr gut funktionierte, dieses Mal leider nicht. Was auch wirklich schade war: das Essen kam zwar sehr schnell, war jedoch leider fast komplett kalt. Die Schnelligkeit wurde damit erklärt, dass dieses Gericht so viel bestellt werde und daher vorbereitet sei. Somit war uns auch klar, wieso es nicht heiß war. Vorbereitung ist gut und wichtig, aber ebenso wichtig ist ein vernünftiges Warmhalten oder Erhitzen. Insgesamt gefällt das Ambiente einfach nicht, etwas karg und lieblos, der Service ist nicht freundlich, wirken „satt“. Eventuell würde ich mir, wenn ich in der Nähe bin, nochmal etwas bestellen und mit nach Hause nehmen, ins Restaurant werde ich nicht mehr gehen.

Hier gibt es das beste Tofugericht, das ich bisher gegessen habe!

Auch wir sind große Fans des Warung Bayu / No. 265, frittierter Tofu mit Erdnusssauce. Schmeckt unglaublich gut, das sollte man sich nicht entgehen lassen. Zu zweit kann man dazu noch Nasi Goreng bestellen, die perfekte Kombination. Die Portionen sind sehr großzügig und so kann man locker die Reste einpacken lassen und ein zweites Mal genießen.

Null Sterne wert! Wir haben einen Tisch für 10 Personen reserviert. Im Restaurant hießt es,es gibt keinen Tisch für 10 Personen! Eine ' Entschuldigung ' dann war es für das Personal die Sache schon erledigt! Keine Lösungsvorschläge oder ähnliches. Bloß nicht dahin gehen,am Ende gibt es kein Essen und ihr steht vor der Tür!

Das Essen war ganz gut, aber eher Durchschnitt, der Service leider ganz und gar nicht. Unser Nebentisch hat für Getränkebestellungen aus Verzweiflung telefonisch angerufen um überhaupt bedient zu werden. Die leeren Teller und Platten auf mega kleinem Tisch wurden leider auch eine halbe Stunde nach beendeten Mahl nicht abgetragen, bis wir gegangen sind. Rechnung musste ich mir selbst vorne abholen und als ich sie mit zum Platz nehmen , um mit Lesebrille zu checken, und beim Verlassen bezahlen wollte, wurde nur mit den Augen gerollt und verächtlich gestöhnt. Ein Verabschiedungsgruss wurde ebenfalls nicht erwidert. Das Personal war in allem sichtlich überfordert.

Der Chef hat gefühlt was dagegen wenn man was anderes als seine Empfehlungen bestellen möchte, aber die sind wirklich das Beste von der Karte! Bestes Tofu das ich je gegessen habe. Einfach nachfragen dann ist er auch glücklich. Man sitzt auch sehr nett.

Wie immer super lecker - gerade die Spezialität des Hauses #265 😁 Lecker sind als Vorspeise auch die gebratenen Käsebällchen... #204 Die Bestuhlung ist etwas eng; ist aber halt Kölner Innenstadt und kein Gewerbegebiet 🤷🏼‍♂️ Preise sind aus meiner Sicht fair! Man kann vor Ort essen, selbst abholen und liefern lassen geht über einen ziemlich bekannten Lieferservice auch.

Unglaublich lecker. Knusprigster Tofu mit Auberginen ever♡

Ich war immer gerne da wirklich bin sogar 60 km mit dem Auto gefahren und Parkhaus mit im Kauf genommen. ABER das letzte mal war alles so voll mit kleinen Fliegen an den Wänden , sogar in mein Bier als es frisch serviert wurde.

War schön öfter dort und die Meinung bleibt stabil: Essen meiner Meinung nach absolut Klasse. Alles so wie erwartet und teilweise übertroffen. Leider extrem laut und der Service wirkt oftmals sehr unhöflich. ABER DAS ESSEN!!+

Fantastisches Essen besonders der Tofu nich nie so einen guten gegessen!

Soooooooooooooo lecker! Es ist einfach jedesmal ein Gaumenschmaus. Besonders "Cah Tahu Buncis" saulecker. Komme hier seit Jahren hin und bin immer ein Fan. Die Qualität des Essens ist hervorragend und auch das Personal immer sehr sehr nett. Der Chef hat immer gute Laune und ich kann ein Glas Rotwein auch sehr empfehlen. Im Sommer ist besonders der Innenhof ein Highlight zum sitzen und schlemmen...

Das Hausgericht (Knuspriger Tofu mit grünen Bohnen und Erdnusssauce) ist unvergleichlich gut. Als Tofu-Skeptikerin war es eine Offenbarung und ich würde es immer wieder bestellen. Aber auch die anderen Gerichte sind sehr zu empfehlen. Hier sollte man am Wochenende sicherheitshalber reservieren.

Einfach toll! Da wir im Sommer auf Bali waren, wollten wir im Winter nochmal dieses Bali-Feeling erleben...und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Essen war der absolute Wahnsinn. Super lecker und authentisch. Der Laden war voll bis auf den letzten Platz, also unbedingt reservieren. Auch die Bedienungen waren super freundlich und auf Zack. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.
