Many years ago, this restaurant was the best in the Ruhr area – delicious and absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, after the pandemic, it slowly went under; the legend will eventually fade away. I'm sure that since fewer people go there, the buffet isn't as fully stocked. So sad.

Saturday 1:00 p.m.: It's gotten significantly worse. Dishes that are normally eaten warm (pasta) were cold. Mussels were dry and chewy. The selection was drastically reduced. Dessert, like before, was missing: slices of cake and jelly. There was no coffee either. The number of visitors showed that many former guests felt the same way and wouldn't be coming back. That was it for us, too.

The variety and deliciousness of the dishes surprised me. It was a completely different world than last month. The dishes were fresh and delicious. Thank God, I have a place to eat again. Thank you.

Not even worth ⭐ 1 star, but I HAVE TO... I've been going to the buffet for years – even back when it was still called "Wang Fu." I drove 30 km specifically for it, even though there are plenty of alternatives nearby. Unfortunately, the restaurant has deteriorated completely, especially the lunch buffet. • Opening hours: According to the information, it was supposed to open at 11:45 a.m., but it actually didn't open until 12:15 p.m. • Hygiene: Absolutely disastrous! Glasses dirty, cutlery obviously not washed properly, some of the glasses even cracked – a danger to children. Old cream was stuck to the walls, and dishes with leftover food were left lying around, even though we were the first guests. That could only have been from the day before. • Food: Chicken was pink inside and inedible, signs didn't match the food (e.g., "Fried noodles" = "Vegetable rice"). The dessert was even worse: a Black Forest cake so old and hard that the cream didn't even stick to your fingers. Leftover ice cream was simply dumped in the bowl – absolutely unappealing. • Chocolate fountain: No fountain, just a lump of lukewarm, tasteless mush at the bottom. • Drinks: All just half-empty, half-filled bottles – even though we were the first guests. Very questionable. • Service: Language barriers, requests weren't understood. After asking for a glass, we were given a glass that was also dirty and even had a crack. • Straw: After asking for a glass, we were given a wet paper straw after 10 minutes, which was clearly dirty from use and had simply been quickly washed (how do I know? It was a discolored and wet paper straw, see picture...). Absolutely disgusting. All in all: a complete failure. My children were just as disappointed as I was. For us, one thing is clear: Never again! This restaurant urgently needs to be inspected by the health department. In short: Extremely unhygienic and absolutely disappointing. Dirty glasses and cutlery, pink chicken inside, old desserts, and ice cream that had been spilt together – simply disgusting. Drinks were only half-filled bottles from the day before, and even a used straw was served. The chocolate fountain was broken, there was no selection, and service was nonsensical. For me and my children: never again – a health department is urgently needed here!

Cold soup and hot drinks! We think this restaurant is finished! We haven't been there in a long time and wanted to see if the restaurant had declined further. Unfortunately, we were confirmed! Disaster, I was so disappointed, 2 years ago or so Wang Chao was one of my favorite places for an open buffet. But since the change of ownership it has been a complete disaster, the sushi and nuggets were rock hard and the food on offer was mushy, oily, cheap fries. The cake, or rather several that we took out of the fridge, were also rock hard. The drinks, from no name to Aldi Coke, were all just stored half open in the fridge from other tables, which other people had already drunk... a few types of buffet selection, nothing more!! No salad at all, just tomatoes, no cucumbers, no salad dressings or other fresh salads, simply nothing. huh?!!! That's embarrassing! Pure disappointment! Lots of other people who were there talked to us and they were of the same opinion. I didn't dare try the fish because most of the food had just been sitting there for a long time and was simply old. Ketchup and mayo were just empty bottles!! The glasses and cutlery were just dirty, a completely unhygienic situation!! Paid €25 for one person in the evening, omg never again! Then drove an extra half hour!!! Instead of opening promptly at 6 p.m. the woman just opens at around 6:30 p.m. whenever she feels like it, we had to wait outside with all the family members.. no more sweets, no chocolate fountain and then an evening buffet huh?! The chocolate fountain is simply broken and the chocolate is watery and it doesn't get cleaned up, it just lies there, hardly any selection of fruit! When you enter the shop there are chips scattered all over the floor... nothing prepared! This is a nightmare and a scam. Don't come here anymore because the owner is no longer the same. The old owner made everything so fresh and delicious, you won't find that at all with the new owner! I would rather have eaten a kebab for the price because of so many disappointments, I would have had more of it, I left the shop in a huff. The restaurant used to be a winner in terms of value for money, and if someone in the group had stomach problems afterward, it was laughed off. Now, after 5-6 years, we ate at Wang Chao as a group for the first time in a long time and were shocked by the hygienic conditions and the condition of the food. The vegetables were completely dried out and looked as if they had been cut days ago, the prepared dishes looked as if they had been warmed up and left outside for several days, and there were sometimes dead flies in the frying containers filled with food. The atmosphere in the restaurant is also oppressive, and you quickly feel unwell; I've never experienced anything like it before. With a bit of luck, the health department will march through, and you'll soon be able to eat properly at Wang Chao again (even for 2-3 euros more).

The coffee machine was completely nonfunctional (no water, no milk, no beans). The ice cream was contaminated because all flavors were dispensed with the same spoons. The floor was so sticky that you walked home with dirty shoes. The sink in the restroom has been broken for years and is simply locked. The service was disrespectful and unprofessional. We tried to speak to the manager three times – we were ignored, interrupted, or referred to incompetent employees. There was no air conditioning in 35°C heat. Furthermore, they serve tap water in bottles that give the impression of branded water. This restaurant used to be good – today it's a prime example of how to lose regular customers. For €18 per person, you get poor quality, poor service, and unsanitary conditions. Anyone who values good food, cleanliness, and respectful treatment should definitely avoid this restaurant.

The ambiance was significantly spoiled by a cleaning lady who was cleaning the section where we were sitting in slow motion, interrupted by constant loud hand-held conversations. Initially, the manager overcharged for the lunch buffet. Thus, a false advertising promise on the website. Instead of €11, they charged €15 per person. The table wasn't clean. The floor was dirty. The dishes were dirty. Every plate I held was dirty. I wiped the cutlery and plates. Almost all of the glasses were still dirty. When I pointed out that the ice cream bowls were dirty, a few were taken out, no clean ones were put in, and the remaining dirty ones stayed in. When I then wanted to use plates for them, they were also dirty – underneath one plate, the grease from the leftover food was still smeared. When I pointed out the dirty plates to the manager again, she lashed out and called me xenophobic. I then asked for my money back. Which she ultimately refused to give me. First, she wanted to refund me €15, then €20, then €12 because I drank a water. However, we paid over €60 and didn't get a cent back. They even wanted to call the police. I told her to please do so. They came, which was completely unnecessary, because in my opinion, it casts a bad light on the restaurant. There was no refund. But we did file a report with the health department. I offered to refund the money to the manager before contacting a lawyer. She then freaked out again. Conclusion: NO RECOMMENDATION. The food was also inedible, probably from the day before, if not older. The fried food was burnt, which just tasted charred. My family and I could barely eat anything. Service was inadequate; nothing was cleared from the table, dirty dishes (cutlery, glasses, plates, bowls). An impulsive boss who reacted aggressively to any comments and even insulted people. The store was also pretty empty. That's probably saying something.

An absolute nightmare. If zero stars were possible, I would give them. It started with the information that payment was only possible in cash at the entrance – we never received a bill. It was a buffet offering with a drink package. The glasses weren't clean, drinks weren't chilled, or had been opened. The floor was extremely sticky, and countless flies were flying around the buffet area, landing on the food. There were also food scraps from visitors lying around the buffet area that hadn't been cleared away. The furniture looked extremely run-down, with cracks in the faux leather of the benches and chairs. The quality of the food seemed just as questionable: the salad bar consisted of mushy tomatoes and old, dry cucumbers that were slowly turning yellow. There was no salad dressing available anywhere. The hot dishes all had a "layer," meaning they were kept warm for an extremely long time. The fried rice and fried noodles were hard and stale. The baked bananas were inedible. The fruit was also no longer fresh. In the dessert area, flies were flying around the cake display cases and landing on the products. The ice cream counter wasn't appealing either, as the ice cream scoop was sitting in old water that hadn't been changed in a while – it immediately took away your appetite. The slushie was neither cold nor edible. It was liquid syrup, instead of the familiar "slushie." I wouldn't recommend it at all, without wishing to offend anyone personally. We used to go there regularly years ago and were always satisfied with the quality, but we are shocked by the absolutely horrific conditions!

When we ate here with friends today, we were all surprised by how run-down this restaurant suddenly became. It was shocking. Half-empty drink bottles were in the lower refrigerators for guests to serve themselves. The food itself no longer tasted fresh, but rather of rancid grease in some places. At the buffet, fat black flies and fruit flies were sitting on the grapes. At our table, as well as at neighboring tables, no dishes had been cleared. Used dishes were littered everywhere on the tables, the floor was wet and sticky in places, and there were signs saying "Caution: Slippery Floors." At the counter where you could order alcoholic drinks, the entire counter was lined with empty, used glasses.... There were only two employees in the entire restaurant, who couldn't keep up with all the work... Later at home, we had gastrointestinal problems... You have to pay directly at the entrance before eating... Compared to last year, I definitely can't recommend this restaurant anymore and won't be eating there again for the time being.

We were there today, and it was just so awesome. The atmosphere was amazing, especially the carrot cake. The boss is also very nice, always smiling, and did everything she could to make sure we didn't get bored.

It used to be better! The food selection has narrowed considerably, German beer has been replaced with Chinese! I can't imagine a Chinese buffet without salmon!!! My wife only eats salmon out of everything there, and it's not there, at least today when we came I was shocked at how the restaurant has literally degraded in a couple of years.

Extra star for that, GREAT! 😊 Based on our experience with the app, we'll be going there for a real meal very soon 😊 A clear recommendation. It might be worth downloading the app mentioned above. For €5, you have the chance to pick out leftover food from the buffet and pack it yourself. This applies to both the lunch buffet and the dinner buffet. You'll be given a bowl with a lid on site, which you can fill yourself.

We haven't eaten here in a long time. I actually had fond memories of it. When we were there today, everything was different. Hardly any customers. The food and the surrounding atmosphere were among the worst I've ever experienced. The plates were all greasy, some of them dirty. The tables were dirty, and it didn't feel good. We had something grilled; it looked okay, but tasted burnt. Another dish had fish that was completely raw; I returned it, and it came back completely burnt. As a waiter, I wouldn't have dared to put it on the table. Some of the finished dishes from the buffet were cold and rock-hard. We basically always left half the plates. Drinks are included in the price; they're kept in coolers that had seen better days. Many drinks were open and were now still. Small bottles would have been more appropriate than 1.5 liters of discount Coke. At least I don't want to know how many people have had their bottles in their hands. The checkout area looks like a warehouse, somehow shabby. I can't recommend it, and we won't be visiting this restaurant again. It's a shame; it was really nice there a few years ago. For that price, I would have preferred a steak somewhere else.

We ate there yesterday with 5 people, once and never again! I've never eaten such bad food. A lot of things were cold, meat was hard and dry, rolls were extremely hard and the worst part was the desserts! Purchased frozen cakes were completely rotting, even with the original cardboard underneath, and the whole fridge smelled of mold. Supposedly clean plates, some of them dirty and all greasy, as were glasses and cutlery! Tables and floor were also sticky and dirty. Not recommended to anyone! The only good thing was the free drinks with which you could wash down the food. Put over a hundred euros in the toilet bowl.

Dirty, the food and drinks weren't good, there were dirty dishes everywhere, the floor and tables were sticky and weren't cleaned, food scraps were everywhere under the table, and there was no hygiene. It's gone downhill. We came for a birthday party and were very upset. It used to be great!! Now it's poor and sparse.

It was better. Some of the food was cold. The freshly prepared meat was good.

Went there today and I can't understand any positive reviews. The food was cold, dry, tasteless! The store was so dirty. Tables were greasy, food was on the floor, the reception/counter resembled a Messi living room. Instead of cans, you can help yourself to bottles that have already been opened and then put back from the table into the fridge for the next guests; otherwise, in theory, I could have done something with the bottle. Live Cooking Catastrophically dirty in the kitchen! Sauce from the food reminded me of canned dog food and smelled like that too. I've really lost everything. The lady from the staff was very friendly, but we hardly saw her. Once the public order office goes through this store, the store is closed. Sorry, but definitely never here again!!!!

Four of us ate there today and we all said 'never again'!!! The food was cold, the place was absolutely filthy, including the plates, cutlery and glasses. Neither the manager nor the staff know anything about cleanliness and hygiene! I don't even want to talk about the toilets. The food was absolutely disgusting and reheated, apart from the 'chocolate fountain' which was rock hard and had already started to grow mould on it. An absolute disaster! Unfortunately you have to give it one star to rate it; in my opinion, the place doesn't even deserve that.

Where to start? We were there today for the lunch buffet with 4 people and we were all very dissatisfied with the food. The food was cold and the selection was very limited. The food was really very bad with a few exceptions. The service itself was very hardworking and it was always cleared away promptly. The ice cream that was visible in the chest should definitely no longer be offered. First it is put out there for customers to help themselves to and then it is put back in the chest. That's exactly what it looks like, it's melted and then it's frozen again for the next round... The chocolate fountain completely finished me off. Luckily he wasn't at work but he wasn't at all appetizing to look at. The dishes and glasses were dirty, the coffee machine looked like it had been last cleaned months ago and was already crying out for descaling... In general, one has to say that the cleanliness in the shop has deteriorated significantly. We were one of the first guests and there were still dirty dishes from (I assume) the day before. Since the store didn't open until later today, we didn't have to pay until we left, where I openly stated that it was very bad today. Unfortunately, the lady wasn't interested at all... I'd rather talk about everything personally instead of writing a review. But in this case, unfortunately, there is no other way.

We are a family who go to Wang Chao sporadically, but this last time we were disappointed 😓 I don't know if it was the time or something else, but the food was really not good. My children hardly ate anything and what they did eat was dry, hard and cold. The only good thing was the food, which was freshly prepared on the grill, the ice cream and the drinks. The pieces of cake tasted very bad, as if they had been in the fridge for days and when chewed they looked like sponges. I don't think we'll be back. What I can really say is that the service was great, friendly and attentive as always.

Very nice ambience, nice people, always friendly and good food, something for everyone. Price performance is very good, I really enjoy going there.

Unfortunately it was an absolute failure... The food is cold, the meat is dry, there is no refilling at the buffet... I don't even want to start talking about the condition of the entire restaurant, especially the sanitary facilities... the health department urgently needs to get involved

Anyone who likes buffets with a wide selection and plenty of space will be in good hands here. There's also the option of having something freshly prepared according to their individual preferences. This takes time, though. Unfortunately, some of the prepared meals offered were kept warm for too long and therefore boiled down. Yes, it's definitely difficult to consistently offer fresh food at a buffet and clean up after people who spill food while loading their plates, but others can do it. Maybe I was just having a bad day—I came here on a recommendation—but I was disappointed. I was here on Friday, April 5, 2019, from 6:35 p.m. until just under 8:00 p.m. Will I visit again? Perhaps for lunch during the week, when the break doesn't allow for long waits and I just want to fill up.

I was quietly horrified today. We were there two months ago. There was a huge selection; everything was fresh, hot, and delicious. Today, the lady came running towards us with the words: "Pick your seat, it's Ramadan and not much going on." That sentence alone should have sent us packing, and alarm bells would have gone off. There was hardly any choice today. Last time, there were at least two or three more dishes. They weren't available today. Last time, the fried noodles were really Chinese with vegetables and egg. Today, they were just sticky spaghetti, briefly thrown into the pan. Completely naked. The spring rolls... with all due respect, the lightest food... They were almost transparent because they'd been fried at least twice. Probably left over from last night and thrown in the fryer again today... Same with the nuggets. They were rock hard and disgusting. As if they'd been out in the open for two days after being fried. The fries were raw and cold. Last time there was a great selection of drinks, alongside various juices also water, pan iced tea, Coke... Today the cupboards were full of coconut cans. In the fridges on the side there were a few single half-empty bottles of Coke, cheap iced tea, and just puddles everywhere. You have to ask for water, there wasn't any. The men's restroom was full of shit. The waitress we had... Oh god... She wasn't even wearing a bra and acted like a peasant. She could hardly speak German and behaved absolutely abysmal. While she was looking for the customer with the plate from the live cooking, she simply put the plate with the smelly seafood in front of me (I am disgusted by the smell of shrimp, seafood...) and started looking there. So while we're eating there, I find that totally rude. The urinals were dirty and it stank. I told the man at the front. He refunded me just under 3 euros. Normally, he would have been able to accommodate me, reimburse at least one adult, or at least the child. So, we'll never eat there again. I don't have high standards when it comes to food, but today's was inedible and absolutely disgusting. The only food you could eat was the freshly cooked food. But since you "assemble" it yourself, not much can go wrong in the Foanne. So, the place has completely lost us as customers. What a shame! The quality shouldn't have plummeted so rapidly in such a short period of time.

We have been regular customers for years and have always been satisfied. However, very disappointed yesterday. Many dishes were missing, some cold and warmed up as if from lunch. No Chinese noodles just spaghetti. I was embarrassed that we had a family celebration and I initially raved about the restaurant. Then both coffee machines were broken, drinks were only in the refrigerators and you had to look for them for a long time. Staff just annoyed. We know Wang Cao completely differently and don't know whether we'll be back so quickly. Unfortunately the price was just as high as always.

Food tastes the absolute worst. It used to be different. Every Chinese fast food restaurant tastes significantly better. As we all know, tastes differ, but anyone who rates this with 5 stars hasn't heard the bang

The taste has waned over the years, but it is sometimes a bit cold but otherwise still very good. Unfortunately there is little salad selection and some of the items were not labeled. Otherwise there is something for every taste and I think it is very good that drinks are included. Yesterday I had a delicious Asian green tea with honey and lemon. Overall, I also noticed that there are a lot of Asian drinks, which also seem to be quite high quality, as there are not only water, cola and the like. It's just a shame that some people have to overdo it and take two full plates. But I just hope that they then have to pay extra per plate. It's also good that you have to pay directly at the front, so you don't have to wait for the waiter. Overall, a fair and inexpensive offer for 19 euros on Saturday lunchtime

The food was so unbelievably bad that it was really the last attempt. Some of the food was cold, or it looked like mud, there was very little choice. The restaurant used to be great, but unfortunately not now. The restaurant is also extremely dirty in terms of hygiene, I wonder how the place is holding up. Super disappointing for the money.

Normally 0 stars. What happened there? Saturday evening and there is only half of the buffet left. Eat cold 1000 started bottles. Just sad, today was the last time we were there. It's a shame actually.

We ate here 7 years ago and everything was great. Today we ate here again and we were shocked by the condition in the “restaurant”!!! The food was cold, no choice at all, the food didn't taste fresh at all and it didn't taste good either, a lot of it was frozen, fries were disgusting, although it can't be that difficult to make them, the coffee machine didn't work, it was also in a disgusting condition, fruits were squished on the floor, it was such a mess around the chocolate fountain. In addition, there was no fruit with the chocolate fountain, which was really strange. Unfortunately not recommended at all. I just hope we're okay tomorrow!

I've been eating there for years, but it's no longer the same as usual. The choice of food has decreased significantly. The taste has become absolutely subterranean. Drinks taste stale. As elsewhere, prices were raised sharply. However, the price-performance ratio is no longer suitable. It's a shame, we now have to look elsewhere for where we eat.
