Ganz okay, aber nichts besonderes

Wir waren zum Geburtstagsessen in dieser schönen Location eingeladen. Das Ambiente spricht schon alleine durch die Lage unmittelbar im Wald an. Vielleicht hätte man die Tische etwas festlicher decken können aber dies ist auch schon der einzige Kritikpunkt. Ansonsten beste Bedienung durch (Volldampf-) Maja. Leckerstes Essen, insbesondere der vorweg gereichte Salat, ein Gedicht. Ein rundum schöner Abend. Vielen Dank an Schwiegermutter für die Einladung.

Wir haben dieses Restaurant nach einem langem Spaziergang gefunden und waren begeistert. Das Essen war sehr lecker, der Service super freundlich. Natürlich war es etwas „teurer“ aber die Qualität der Speisen war wirklich gut. Bei besonderen Anlässen würde ich definitiv noch ein Mal dahin gehen.

Wir waren Ostern mit einer Gruppe von 13 Personen zum Mittagessen da.Der Service war sehr freundlich und die Bestellung wurde zügig aufgenommen. Das Essen war geschmacklich sehr gut und die Portionen haben eine Größe die reichlich und ausgewogen ist. Die Torten am Nachmittag waren köstlich. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist völlig angemessen. Wir kommen sehr gern wieder.

Der Service und das Personal sind Top! 👍🏾 Essen muss ich ein Stern abziehen, da ich mir von den Saucen beim Schnitzel mehr erhofft habe.

Nach einer Wanderung hier eingekehrt um etwas zu Essen. Das Ambiente ist gemütlich und das Personal sehr engagiert und freundlich. Beim Essen ist allerdings noch deutlich Luft nach oben. In der Küche wird wohl nicht mehr viel handwerklich gekocht, statt in einen guten Koch hat man wohl eher in eine gute Fritteuse investiert. Das Schnitzel besteht aus frittierter Fertigware, die Champingnonrahmsauce ist wohl ebenfalls ein Fertigprodukt welches mit frischen Champignons aufgepeppt wird. Die Burgerpatties sind ebenfalls Fertigware und kommen aus der Fritteuse, bei den Bratkartoffeln siehts nicht besser aus, wer’s fettig mag wird sie lieben. Kann man auch alles so machen aber geschmacklich ist es dann eben nicht gut - und bei den aufgerufenen Preise ist die Erwartungshaltung an die Qualität eine andere.

Wir haben draussen auf ein paar Calenberger Landbier gesessen. Das Bier war lecker. Hatten dazu nach ein paar Nüssen als Snack gefragt. Diese wurden uns auch in einem kleinen Schälchen gebracht. Hinterher beim Bezahlen die böse Überraschung…3,90€ für ein paar Nüsschen.😱🙈Sorry,aber das ist kein Service,sondern einfach nur peinlich!Ein Hinweis auf die Kosten wäre nett gewesen. Dann hätten wir sicher dankend und irritiert verzichtet.

Wir waren am 24.01.2026 hier zu einem kleinen Familienessen mit ein Dutzend Personen (1 Dutzend = 12 Personen für die die es nicht kennen). Wir waren alle begeistert sowohl vom Essen als auch vom Service. Das war super lecker toll angerichtet der Salatteller sah nicht nur mega aus er hat auch genauso mega geschmeckt. Die Bedienung war super nett und Aufmerksam. Preisleistung is absolut gerechtfertigt. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall noch mal wieder. Reservierung wäre ratsam da es sehr gut besucht war.

Durch Zufall sind wir auf die Bärenhöhle gekommen. Mit 4 Erwachsenen und einem Kleinkind haben wir dort zu Mittag gegessen. Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen. Auch ein Kinderhochstuhl stand schon bereit. Alles was wir bestellt haben war sehr lecker, und frisch zubereitet. Allen hat es sehr gut geschmeckt. Wir kommen bestimmt bald wieder. Vielen Dank

Ungemütlich Ausflugslokal. Man kann mit bis zu 25 Personen im Kaminzimmer toll feiern! Das Essen ist hervorragend lecker und das Personal aufmerksam und freundlich. Was will man mehr. 100% Weiterempfehlung

Die Akustik im Hauptraum war nicht gut. Im Anbau und Vorraum war es kaum geheizt. Reservierung ist wohl notwendig.

Das Weihnachtsmenü 2025 hat uns leider sehr enttäuscht. Maronensuppe zur Vorspeise sehr knapp bemessen und nichts Besonderes, Hauptgang Ente und Wildgulasch mit Beilagen etwas lieblos serviert,die Ente zum Teil sehr zäh - zum Nachtisch ein Gläschen Bratapfelmousse war noch das Beste des Menüs. Bei einem Preis von fast 50 Euro pro Person (!) insgesamt absolut überteuert.

We wanted to eat there. We went in and sat at a table that was free. After 5 minutes, a waitress came and said that the table was reserved. Unfortunately, there was no reservation sign on the table. I was very annoyed that they were too lazy to put one up.

Unfortunately, the pork schnitzel has a very strong pork flavor, which is not normal.

Wow! Finding a parking spot on a Saturday afternoon was a breeze (watch out for two rather large speed bumps on the approach). The restaurant is in an idyllic location. We were a group of 15. The service was very friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. The salad served with the main course was amazing—really tasty, and I'm not usually a big salad fan. The dressing can be purchased separately. :-) The main courses completed the perfect experience. We'll definitely be back!

We've been to the Waldwirtschaft several times now. From a cold drink during a summer walk or a hot drink in winter, to lunch, breakfast, and even a birthday party with over 20 guests. No matter what was on the plate, it was beautifully presented, delicious, and plentiful. The breakfast buffet offered countless regional delicacies. From sweet spreads, hearty sausages, and various cheeses to incredibly tasty salmon—what more could a breakfast lover want? The buffet was right by the counter, and the passageway was quite narrow. After the initial rush, however, it flowed more smoothly than expected. The party took place in the separate room (downstairs). The electric fireplace created a wonderful atmosphere and provided warmth in January. We had discussed the menu with the owner beforehand: a set salad, three main courses (venison, fish, and chicken) for everyone to choose from, as well as two dessert options and a cake. The individual menu items were summarized on the tables. To round off the meal, the wide selection of coffees and teas was a welcome addition. All in all, a very successful birthday dinner. For me, a fantastic restaurant and highly recommended.

We hiked there, and according to the internet, it was supposed to be open. But it was closed for vacation. Very annoying.

We had lunch with our colleagues, and everything was well prepared and the event went smoothly. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly. Anyone who takes a walk in the forest near Barsinghausen is welcome to stop by the Bärenhöle (Bear Cave). Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo, so please excuse the delay.

We used to really enjoy going there, but now—well, it's a matter of taste. My stomach isn't as robust anymore. Sure, it's a forest restaurant, so you have to make some compromises in terms of ambiance and comfort. However, in my opinion, the prices are no longer "forest restaurant."

We spontaneously stopped in for dinner with our dog. A big plus: dogs are welcome, and because of our dog, we were immediately offered a quiet spot in a corner, just the way we like it. We were informed that there was only a buffet that evening, which was great for getting a general impression. The buffet had a moderate selection; unfortunately, some dishes, such as the salad, were already empty and hadn't been refilled, but that might have been due to the time of day (around 7 p.m.). The service was very friendly; unfortunately, you can only pay with an EC card (when it works), which is a big disadvantage these days. All in all, it was good; we'll definitely be back.

We made a reservation here and got a great outdoor spot. Our daughter loved the playground – our table was right next to it, so we had a good view of her. It was fantastic. The menu was good, with a nice selection plus daily specials! Personally, I was hoping for goulash, but unfortunately, there wasn't any. Highly recommended!

We stopped here after a Sunday stroll in the Deister region, in beautiful weather. We had a seat on the terrace. Nice service and good food. The salad was super fresh, nicely presented, and delicious. The schnitzel could have been a bit larger for its price. It was still tasty.

Refreshing German cuisine, not stale, but with a charming freshness. The food is super delicious, especially the bowl, and the burger is also quite good. The schnitzel is of good quality and large. The bread with the homemade garlic oil is a highlight. Thank you for that. It was an experience, and we'd love to come back.

We ate at the Bärenhöhle today. First of all, I have to say that we were there two years ago, and again three years ago, and we enjoyed it much, much better then. The ambiance is the same; quite nice, there's not much to criticize, but it's not outstanding either. The servers are friendly and attentive, as it should be. The food is a complete disgrace. The appetizer, feta... unseasoned, didn't taste of much, with a herb baguette (a frozen roll with herb butter)... Main courses: old, soggy fries and tiny schnitzel, not at all appetizing and just thrown onto the plate. My grandfather's and father's food were, according to them, okay, and they didn't look bad either. My girlfriend had a bowl with grilled vegetables, nuts, and a herb baguette. The baguettes are apparently frozen rolls, and the bowl was just a large salad with three nuts and some grilled vegetables (very little). I had grilled vegetables with baked potatoes, so it wasn't very decorative... when I go to a restaurant, I eat with my eyes, and I could have made the meal myself... The potatoes were okay, with hardly any seasoning. The grilled vegetables must have been really expensive for that portion; it certainly wasn't more than a small child's handful... everything was okay, but considering the prices, it was really bad. The Bärenhöhle was definitely better. The ingredients themselves didn't taste particularly good either. Surprisingly disappointing. But see for yourself :) Value for money 1/5 ☆

yes, I can highly recommend it. Vegetarians can also eat great here, there is salad or you can pick the vegetarian dishes from the menu and the kitchen conjures them up into a delicious main course. So far it has always worked great.

We were there with the family for breakfast on Easter Monday and we all really enjoyed it. The home-baked rolls and breads were particularly well received. All the other homemade and regional products were also very tasty! We'll definitely come back

On February 15, 2025 we went to the Bear Cave for lunch in a small group. Although we decided spontaneously, we got a table in the annex/conservatory. We were served very well. Everything worked out. Food very tasty. Even though the waitress was only on her first day at work, she served us very nicely and well. We'd love to come back. The restaurant on the edge of the Deister is very good and recommended. Thanks Winnie

We celebrated our wedding here two weeks ago and it was uncomplicated and relaxed! The food is super tasty, especially the cordon bleu and the salad dressing is outstanding! The ambience speaks for itself and is very inviting! Thank you, it's always nice to be with you!

Today was the first time I had ordered takeaway here for a long time. 2x schnitzel with cream sauce and 1x cordon bleu. According to the telephone order, the food will be ready in 1/2 hour. Arrived on site and said I wanted to pick up my food. I noticed that the service person in the kitchen announced that the food was “there” to be picked up. I had to wait about 7.8 minutes until it was ready and I paid about €60. Unpacked and served at home with joyful anticipation. The mushroom cream sauce was more like a soup, i.e. really runny, the fried potatoes were half cooked and didn't taste like anything and the cordon bleu barely contained any cheese. We then had to finish frying the fried potatoes with onions and ham in the pan and thicken the soup. I feel like the food was prepared in my short wait. How is something like that supposed to work? I give the one star for the salad and it was the last time I was a customer there.

Well, I'm because of that I drove all the way to see the lunch menu offered on their website and then had to be told that it no longer existed.

Come hungry, leave hungry - at least that's what happened to me. The salad was extremely good and so we went to the Cordon Bleau with a lot of anticipation. Unfortunately the taste wasn't outstanding and in terms of quantity I think there was another kebab on the way back. On the other hand, there is the very good service - friendly and my friend's schnitzel plate was quickly repaired without any complaints. That's how you want it. The atmosphere is very good and quiet. Therefore 3 stars. Only the food barely made it to two. Too bad.

We stumbled across this restaurant by chance on Google on the way home and spontaneously decided to have dinner there. The ambience in the middle of the forest from one summer evening onwards was simply great. And in the cold season it's certainly nice to sit in the built-in winter garden. The food was also very tasty and was good value for money. Everything is very fresh and creative-young. Yummy! We spontaneously reserved a table again for 2 days later so that we could stop there again at the end of our vacation. Our children were very excited about the playground, which was large for a pub, right next to the beer garden. Update: A year later we are on holiday in the area again and a visit to the forestry industry is definitely planned after the positive experience we had last time. It was again very tasty and our impression from last time was confirmed. Great!

Very cozy restaurant with regional cuisine. Fresh and delicious, the best home cooking. Also vegetarian dishes. Service is very friendly, you can also sit outside at rustic tables under tall trees. The price level is normal, but completely reasonable. Tip!

Nice restaurant with an outdoor area. The food was very tasty, but the lunch menu only offers complete dishes. We missed “little things”. Service was great, despite company in the restaurant. If you want to go there, be sure to call ahead to see if it is open. Some are closed between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

We chose the Bärenhöhle for our son's confirmation ceremony because of its beautiful location in the forest and the cozy winter garden and we were not disappointed.
