Waldhäusle in Waltenhofen

A very nice, idyllically located inn with friendly service, a beautiful beer garden, and delicious food. A great playground for the kids. We felt completely at home here and would love to come back.

After repeated visits over several years, it's always worth it. The food and service are very good.

We visited the Waldhäusle beer garden again today and were actually quite satisfied, until we got home and were tormented by severe stomach and intestinal cramps. This was probably due to the mayonnaise, which had been sitting in the cutlery drawer in the sun on the tables for a long time (if not all day) in temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius! We would like to share this as a suggestion for your attention.

Everything was top-notch. Very well organized, delicious food, friendly service, and a fantastic atmosphere. Prices were completely reasonable.

The seating is very pleasant with a view of the mountains. Our server seemed rather stressed and unfriendly. The food was delicious, drinks are self-service at a small booth, and the waitress was nice. All in all, it's a good place to stop for a hike.

What can I say? We went to a barbecue today. It was simply wonderful, friendly service, great food, a lovely outdoor atmosphere, great prices, and awesome live music. Absolutely recommend it!

Well, what can I say? The drinks, food, and atmosphere are a dream in the heart of the beautiful Allgäu region. Beautiful views, a spacious beer garden with a playground. There's always a live band on Thursdays. If you don't find what you're looking for in the food selection, it's your own fault, or you should drink some water ;-)

Great beer garden with playground for the children

Unfortunately, the brawn cutlet was rather unimaginative, lacking in flavor, and the accompanying fried potatoes were overcooked, greasy, and partially burnt. The pancake was too small, too thin, and not very flavorful. All in all, not a top-quality Bavarian product...very disappointing, only mitigated by the lovely ambiance.

S Nagel...we can certainly do without your stars. Your behavior was the lowest of the low. If they say the kitchen is closed in the evening, you just have to accept it and then you don't have to make stupid comments. You, as hosts, should know that better than anyone else. I think anyone who arrives late is out of luck. I just have to say one more thing: if it's normal for you to have to drink to get the courage to say hello, then I can only laugh about it; in that state, you don't have to say hello anywhere. I give Ms. Philipp a full 5 stars for her reaction; I wouldn't have done it any differently.

Simply great for grilling and enjoying on Thursday

Very good food with good value for money. Super friendly service, who even handled a spontaneous order change with ease and without stress. I'd be happy to go back anytime.

We visited the Waldhäusle for the first time today. A beautiful garden restaurant with very old chestnut trees. A great view of the Allgäu mountains. Quite simply, a place where you can feel at home. The waitress was there immediately and explained the daily special to us. Very friendly and accommodating! The process of delivering the food and billing was also excellent, with drinks being picked up and paid for at the large bar in the middle of the garden. Everything went great. The food arrived very quickly and tasted really good. We paid €8 per portion for a delicious roast pork with spaetzle and gravy. You probably won't find that anywhere else. All the other dishes also looked very delicious. Conclusion: We'll definitely be back and have a great time.

The ice cream sundae tasted of dish soap. I felt a little dizzy afterward. You have to get your own drinks. The waitress comes by the table every leap year. ------------------------ It's a shame when you consider what you could do with a restaurant like this, but then they produce such quality potholes.

Highly recommended for a longer stay, or even just for a breather. The food arrived very quickly. Meanwhile, you could grab a drink at the bar in the beer garden. Everyone was very nice and friendly. If I lived here, I would definitely come here more often. There's something for all ages. Even the dog felt very comfortable and safe under the table.

We've rarely experienced such unfriendly service. The food, the homemade sausage platter, wasn't particularly outstanding either. We've had better and friendlier service at many other restaurants in the region!

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, we stopped there with 12 mountain bikers around lunchtime. The ground floor restaurant was packed, and we were kindly offered a table on the first floor. The elderly lady/waitress was so unfriendly and completely unsuitable for serving. No please, no thank you. Even when we asked what kind of spritzer they had, she answered with a groan and the remark, "I already listed that at the front of the table." The currywurst/butcher's quality with homemade curry sauce was abysmal. The sauce was ice cold and not good. The fries were so-so. Apart from the cake, everything was awful. The Bike Team Frickhofen clearly does not recommend this place...

Having your own butcher shop, especially meat, is highly recommended. This time I liked the deer with tender goulash meat, very good sauce and bread dumplings with some cranberries. The cuisine is predominantly local with a few forays into international cuisine. Structurally you can see how the restaurant has grown over time. Last summer I also learned to really appreciate the guest garden under the old chestnut trees.

The Waldhäusle lives up to its name as it has forest to the left and right of the road. The parking lot is the side of the road on both sides and offers plenty of space. Since there are plenty of bicycle parking spaces, you can assume that cyclists also visit this place from afar. The access is unfortunately not barrier-free with 4 steps, but once you have managed these stairs it remains at ground level. In the guest room, cakes and sausages are offered that are made in-house, and the prices are down-to-earth and fair. There are tables for guests on the upper floor, just like below. The walls are covered with light wood, which gives the rooms a rustic but not old-fashioned, cozy flair. It's really cozy there and the staff rushes from upstairs to downstairs and back to serve the guests. My friend ordered a currywurst with fries and the rest of us ordered an ice cream sundae. Unfortunately I can't say whether there are guest rooms there. It is advisable to call the restaurant before visiting to reserve a table, otherwise it might happen that you cannot dine there. Come by and let yourself be surprised and pampered by the ambience and menu.

It was the right decision to celebrate a wedding here with around 100 people. From the ambience to the food (buffet), everything was great. A special thank you goes to the entire staff for their friendly and nice demeanor!!!!

Very nice staff, delicious food. However, I don't find it that comfortable. However, a paradise for children. Inside There is a wooden hut and a kitchen to play in and a great playground outside. We felt very comfortable.

Went there for the first time today. Very nice inn, with a great beer garden. The service staff was super fast and friendly. Extra requests were no problem. The food was also very quick, and very tasty. The portions were more than enough. The price is completely okay. 6 meals with 5 drinks were 88 euros. Gladly again!

Judging from the name, you would expect a small establishment hidden somewhere on the edge of a forest. But this is a large restaurant, with a huge terrace, and even its own butcher's shop. But the food and service are top notch.

In summer there is a barbecue evening with live music every Thursday in the Waldhäusle. The crowds are large and despite the large number of people, the quality of the food is first class - regardless of whether you get your food at 5 p.m. or 8 p.m. Chicken, pork knuckle, fish - lots of delicious things. Despite the long queues, the bottom line is that everything goes quite quickly. Even outside of the barbecue evenings, the Waldhäusle is always worth a visit.

The three of us came in. Had dinner in the beer garden in the evening. We ordered gyros with tzatzik, salad, fries from the daily menu and sliced ​​meat with spaetzle from the menu. For just over €19, the sliced ​​meat was very little. The gyros was a good portion at around €15. All dishes were super tasty and freshly cooked. Despite the full beer garden and a wedding party and stress, the service staff is very chilled, friendly, cheerful and well organized. Children have space to have fun. There are donkeys and goats and a chilled boss cat. We have been coming here again and again for many years and are always thrilled. ..... and been here again 😄. Simply delicious and fresh....

Today we were once again at the legendary barbecue festival, Thursday in the summer, with hearty music. Despite the high number of people, service at the buffet and drinks was quick. That's it👍

Went to the barbecue in the Waldhäusle today. There was a large selection of grilled food and side dishes, and there was also plenty for vegetarians. Large portions at reasonable prices. The playground and the animals are of course a highlight for children, so parents can also eat in peace. :-) Toilets were very clean even though it was busy. Would love to come back.

I went there with my parents and can only recommend it. When the summer weather is good, the Waldhäusle is usually very busy. This is lace and very fine. We had the (2x) gyros from the (07.08.24 - 11.08.24) weekly menu. The portions are decent and filling well. We also had the Zurich Geschnetzeltes from the weekly menu. This portion looked larger but it was still very tasty. The staff is very friendly and personable. I am and will remain a loyal customer. This isn't my first visit and I've always felt comfortable.

Every Thursday in the summer there is a barbecue with live music. It is highly recommended to be there from 4:15 p.m. to find parking spaces close to the restaurant and to choose enough seats, self-service at the grill stand. If you arrive late you have to wait in line

Prices, food, location and ambience are very reasonable. The big drawback of our visit, however, was the service.. we felt more disruptive than welcome... We waited about 10 minutes until someone spoke to us or assigned us a seat.. in vain, despite making eye contact several times.. In the end, other guests even approached us and asked if we would like to sit with them. We then had to speak to the waitress twice to ask for a card. First there was an annoyed one, the second time a card was placed on the table without a word... being friendly is different... After another 10 minutes we were asked about our drinks, when they came, the waitress left again without a word without asking about our food order. That was it, we sat there for half an hour and were completely ignored. In that time the two... . 50-60 year old service dropped cutlery and a wheat glass several times.. Unprofessionalism personified.. Only almost embarrassing calling after us worked and our food order was again taken with annoyance. Same game when it came to paying. There's no tipping for something like that. I'm sorry for all the other service staff and the kitchen staff, but anyone who does their work in such an unmotivated way doesn't learn any other way.

Nice economy in a great location. Ideal as a destination for a cycling stop or for all kinds of celebrations. We have held our company parties here several times - with more than 200 people. Outside when the weather is nice. The children had a lot of fun in the playground and with the animals. If the weather is bad, the ballroom is also large and spacious enough. Even with a stage for the band. The grilled food is good, but with an emphasis on meat. Things are gradually getting better for vegetarians, but there is still room for improvement. Still happy again.

+ Essen superlecker + tolle Auswahl an Gerichten + Gaststätte ist schön gelegen - Raum ist leider zu eng besetzt - dadurch leidet der Service, der zwar durchaus freundlich und aufmerksam ist, allerdings auch jeweils nur 2 Hände hat

Typisches Landhaus, sehr schön hergerichtet mit gemütlichem Ambiente. Das Personal war aufmerksam und freundlich, das Essen lecker und preiswert. Auch die Kuchenauswahl hat überzeugt. Im Sommer ist es im Biergarten unter Kastanienbäumen herrlich.

Wir waren zum wiederholten mal zu einem Leichschmaus dort (etwas Makaber). Nackte Bratwürste und Kartoffelsalat 😋. Aber auch im Sommer haben sie einen super Biergarten. Leider manchmal ein zu hoher Andrang. (Warum wohl?)😇
