Nice location and very friendly service

Top location, a very nice place to linger on the Rhine. The service was mediocre to poor. The drinks were well chilled but unfortunately not sparkling, and the second round, which we complained about, was also not sparkling. The food was warmed from a bag and can, garnished with a little something, and ready to serve 😞 totally unacceptable. After we confronted the waiter with our problems, he got rude and walked away and never came back. Another waiter had to take our money. Absolutely not recommending this place. What a shame.

The restaurant is in a great location overlooking the Rhine. The service is so-so, the food is completely unappealing. Open the bag and can, warm it up, and you're done. The ketchup and mayonnaise from the bottle were nicely heated by the 32-degree sun. The drinks were cold but not carbonated. After we got our drinks replaced, the same thing happened again. After we confronted the waiter with our concerns, he left cursing. After asking twice, a colleague took our money. It's absolutely not recommended!!!

Unfortunately, the Wacht am Rhein is very run-down, and the quality has declined considerably since the brunch. The selection is also limited. Things like cream cheese or Nutella weren't available, making it rather poor for vegetarians. It's not worth the money anymore, and a pot of coffee for €20 is pretty steep. We've been there several times, but today is the last time.

Great view of the Rhine. Large restaurant. Plenty of space and high ceilings. The vegetarian pizza was large, well-filled, and very tasty. Pasta with cheese sauce for kids was also delicious and plentiful. And the pollock with potatoes was also great. Everything was excellent. Our youngest child was always running around. It's great that there's so much space there. There are plenty of highchairs, too. There's a playground, a snack bar, and a beach bar on the Rhine. And there are numerous other playgrounds nearby. Perfect for a trip with children. We can't say anything negative. We were there again on June 25th. On Sunday for brunch. Great value for money. The food was all delicious. A bit more salad would have been nice. There were plenty of hot dishes, and all delicious. The meat was tender. There was also dessert, as well as juice. The waiters were very friendly. Top!!

A beautifully located restaurant with a magnificent view. The ideal rest stop for bike tours. The menu is... "I'm sure I'll find something." This time, it was just a coffee to go. There's also apparently a set weekly menu with additional offerings. Absolutely worth it, in my opinion.

There aren't any Michelin-starred dishes here. That's not to be expected, either. But if you want to eat very well, in a great setting on the Rhine, and at a reasonable price, this is the place for you. We were there for breakfast with a group of nine people. The service was very friendly and prompt, and we had our first coffee on the table very quickly. The buffet was extensive and delicious. A classic breakfast buffet with a wide selection, from delicious rolls to various spreads, cheese and sausage to delicious eggs in all variations. The service was attentive, prompt, and friendly. We would be happy to come back.

Yes, there is a long terrace with glass panels as wind protection, which doesn't significantly impair the beautiful view of the Rhine and the surrounding area. A very romantic destination in sunshine, especially at dusk... It's also a great place to take a stroll along the Rhine promenade. The paths are also accessible by bicycle, so the restaurant is also easily accessible by bike.

Beautiful ambiance, very friendly service, very accommodating, and open to special requests, but the food is unfortunately not what it used to be. The portions are far too small for adults. The side dishes, consisting of only 5 croquettes and a thin turkey steak with sauce and 3 medium-sized mushrooms, aren't worth €18. The sauce tastes almost like nothing, and the vegetables in the other dishes had a frozen consistency. A real shame.

Here, people are happy to be guests...not. I have rarely seen such bad food... Here, guests are treated like a burden, and it's clear that they aren't welcome. The food is so abysmal, sometimes your stomach says goodbye. The service staff tries hard, but is very unfriendly. I can only recommend everyone to avoid this place.

We just came here on a Sunday evening. The table wasn't particularly clean, the service was nice but not particularly attentive. The food came super quickly, with hardly any waiting time, which was really positive. My girlfriend had a schnitzel with mushroom sauce, and I had a salad plate with chicken and a baked potato. The schnitzel was okay, but the sauce was anything but tasty and unfortunately lukewarm. It wasn't even made with fresh mushrooms, but from a can, which you can see and unfortunately taste. The fried potatoes didn't seem freshly made either, more like warmed up and much too dark. The salad was solid, the dressing wasn't fresh either and tasted totally bland, unfortunately. It's disappointing to see such a weak performance for such simple food. The view is absolutely beautiful, but for a coffee and ice cream, it's probably the right choice for a cozy evening meal. Not recommended.

Zero stars would be more appropriate. It's a shame that this option doesn't exist. Absolutely not recommended. We came for the lunch buffet on Mother's Day. Since we weren't there right at the beginning, we quickly noticed that the food wasn't being refilled. When we asked if we can get something. The waiter kindly brought it to us from the kitchen, which was already empty. But this was taken back by the manager. The manager cheekily told us not to ask the waiters for something like that. You can't eat the food. I will definitely never come here again and do not recommend this experience to anyone. Absolutely terrible and disgraceful

Wir haben das Mittagsbuffet bestellt. Es empfiehlt sich, einen Tisch vorher zu reservieren. Die Bedienung war eher langsam aber irgendwie haben wir es doch noch geschafft, Getränke zu bestellen. Das Mittagsbuffet besteht aus einer Auswahl an verschiedenen Fleischgerichten, bei denen man manchmal erkennt, dass es sich um Convinienceprodukte handelt. Es gab zum Beispiel Fisch in Sahnesoße, Blattspinat und Püree. Der Püree war definitiv nicht selbstgemacht. Rindfleisch mit Soße, Djuvecreis und Gemüse mit Sauce Hollandaise war lecker, ging aber auch in Richtung Convinience. Eine kleine Salatbar und eine Brokkolisuppe machten das Buffet komplett. Fazit: Für 12,90 Euro pro Person akzeptabel aber natürlich keine Sterneküche. Wir haben aber schon besser gegessen.

For now we won't go there anymore, if only to drink and enjoy the view of the Rhine.

The three of us sat here yesterday and had a drink in the open air. The guest service is friendly, but the waiting time for our drinks was relatively long. The apple pie tastes okay. Unfortunately, schnitzels are deep-fried and not fried.

Unfortunately, the food consisted exclusively of convenience products, which were not even high quality or refined in any way. Slapped it on the plate and out with it. The food arrived within 10 minutes, there were 10 of us. Salad plate consisted almost exclusively of iceberg lettuce, a few carrot pieces, 2 tomato halves, and two cucumber slices, plus baked bread. Cheap yoghurt dressing from a bottle, although I had previously asked whether the dressing was homemade...really outrageous!! The children left the schnitzel with fries...that speaks for itself... No recommendation from me! There are definitely better ones in the area. Save yourself a lot of money...

A relatively inexpensive breakfast buffet with a beautiful view of the Rhine. Be sure to use the parking disc in the parking lot (max. parking time 4 hours)! It is checked regularly - without a parking disc there is a 20 euro warning.

We had a celebration with 40 people in the tower room and our own terrace with a great view of the Rhine. The grill buffet was very good, food was even added. We had a drinks flat rate for 6 hours, which included all drinks except schnapps and cocktails, including all types of coffee. The service was very prompt and fulfilled all requests to the utmost satisfaction. The boss was also very nice, generous and accommodating, we were even allowed to bring our own cake and schnapps. All in all great and again and again, we have celebrated there in recent years.

We were there for dinner for the first time - with a total of 6 people… I had the zander fillet (ordered sauce separately)… it was very tasty, crispy and juicy… The others had liver, cold roast beef, pasta with shrimps, leg of lamb (from the daily menu)… Everyone was very satisfied… Dessert: pancakes and apple strudel… ditto delicious… Waiter was nice and quick. A lovely evening all around :)

A nice place for cycling and walking with delicious ice cream from the cart. Ships can be easily observed on the shore itself. Lots of opportunities to sit down and enjoy the sun.

We were there on Easter Sunday for the lunch buffet, the food was a complete disaster, nothing was refilled, the meat was fried to pieces, really mushy, the roasting pan where the meat etc. was in was very dirty, a lot of finished products were used here, nothing was really fresh, the ambience with a view of the Rhine was the only good thing about it, but the rest was a mess..., we complained about this to the waiter, but the only reason was the train station, once and never again and then €20.90 per person is a disgrace for what you get

The boss himself clearly noticed my criticism, but instead of saying something about it or at least showing a sign of interest, he simply looked down and turned away. Disappointing visit – not recommended I ate at Wacht am Rhein today and was unfortunately very disappointed. The service was inattentive and not very service-oriented. There was no drinks menu, so you had no overview of the prices. The drinks were bottled from plastic bottles from cheap brands - unfortunately you could taste that too. The food itself was extremely greasy, heavily oversalted and overall of poor quality. At €20 per person without drinks, the price-performance ratio is absolutely not justified - especially since children aged 6 and over also have to pay the full price. Overall, not a place I would recommend.

We were there with 15 people and family. Pricing out of this world. Too little selection for the high price. Children aged 7 and over pay the full price and unfortunately the buffet wasn't even suitable for children. We weren't offered a drinks menu, which was unacceptable because we didn't know how expensive the drinks were. The drinks are bottled from discounter PET bottles. Very disappointing and absolutely not recommended.

We celebrated our Christmas party at Wacht am Rhein and it was a thoroughly successful evening! The restaurant not only offers a wonderful view of the Rhine, but also an excellent selection of dishes. The atmosphere was festive and cozy, perfect for a special occasion like our celebration. The food was excellent, from the starters to the main courses, everything was fresh and tasted delicious. Particularly noteworthy is the attentive service, which ensured that we felt completely at home. The friendly atmosphere and the great location made our celebration unforgettable. We can definitely recommend Wacht am Rhein for special occasions.

The ambience right on the Rhine is of course great. But a schnitzel with ready-made sauce and canned mushrooms doesn't work at all. Better 2-3€ more, but fresh. Service was also rather poor, we waited longer for the order and payment. Prices and portions OK, but I'd rather pay a little more and get fresh food and reasonable service. Next time (if there is one) I'll at most have a drink here.

I was there for the first time today, the service was friendly and fast. You sat in the sun, looking at the Rhine between the Leverkusen Bridge construction site and Bayer. Well, the restaurant can't help it, but the food was rather mediocre. My mushroom schnitzel was paper-thin and average in size. To my horror, the mushrooms were out of the jar...where else can you find something like that???? The sauce itself tasteless and tasteless. The only positive thing was the fried potatoes, but clearly not enough. All in all, you can get this (€15.90) ​​better in any chip shop. My partner's salad contained nothing special, a few pieces of chicken and boom: €15. Conclusion: Good service, mediocre food at a relatively high price, which cannot be justified with THE view of the Rhine. And the mushrooms from the jar are MAXIMUM PENALTY. That doesn't work at all. And for 0.3 Pils still €3.90, holla. I prefer to cook myself, but unfortunately I won't be able to visit again.

Today we served pike perch which tasted bitter. So spoiled I then ordered a Jägerschnitzel - the schnitzel was dark brown and totally dry. Apparently it was forgotten in the deep fryer. You can get better quality in every snack bar

Als jemand der viel in Lokalen isst kann ich gut vergleichen und werde auch sicher die Preisrelation beachten. Nun, ich bin seit Jahren sporadisch und immer wieder Gast bei der Wacht am Rhein und das Essen war immer gut und reichhaltig. Auch wenn es mal voll ist keine langen Wartezeiten, - und wäre auch mit den tollen Blick auf den Rhein auch kurzweilig. Auch die wechselnden Mittagsgerichte sind gut und preiswert.

In summer we always like to be in the Wacht am Rhein! The location right on the water is simply beautiful and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The brunch there is simply optimal - delicious selection and always freshly prepared. A perfect place for a leisurely breakfast or lunch. We're always happy to come back!

If you want to enjoy good food in a great atmosphere, this is the right place for you. I'll definitely be back!

Ich schließe mich den Negativen Bewertungen an, das Ambiente ähnelt einer Krankenhaus Kantine. Die Panade meines Schnitzels löste sich nach jedem Schnitt, von den lieblosen Dosen-Pilzen in der geschmacklosen Soße möchte ich gar nicht erst anfangen. Sehr enttäuschend, meine Mutter bekam wohl ein Stück Hähnchenbrust welches vorher durch 4 geteilt wurde (hauchdünn). Man müsste uns zwingen um dort noch einmal einen Fuß reinzusetzen, nicht zu empfehlen. Wartet doch lieber auf euren nächsten Krankenhaus/Altersheim Besuch, dort erwartet euch das selbe.

Aperol is mixed with ready-made Aperol for 6.90 from the supermarket. They would always do it this way. No Prosecco available?! The cocoa is heated from the tetra pack in the microwave and served. As a customer, you stand next to it and watch this spectacle. The staff has no knowledge of gastronomy. The complaints are laughed at. Here the customer is NOT king. The Wacht am Rhein is becoming more and more atrophied, which can be seen especially in the outdoor area. I prefer to spend my money on restaurateurs who love their craft, provide quality and great service.

We were there for brunch, the price and the food were okay. The buffet was missing what exactly it would have been. Would give 3.5 stars

There were four of us on December 31st. eat here in the evening. The buffet was of very high quality, everything tasted good, and it was refilled regularly. There was a wide selection so there was something for everyone. From pork medallions, chicken wings, pork chops, roasts to pasta and fruit salad, everything was included. And all for an incredible €20.50 per person! Many other restaurants would have charged at least €30 for such a lavish buffet. We also like to come here in summer because the atmosphere outside on the large roof terrace is very pleasant. The waiters are attentive and came regularly to clear plates, ask if everything was OK or if we had any other drink requests.

We had dinner with 3 people on December 29th, 2024 around 12:30 p.m. The location is an uncomfortable glass box with a view of the Rhine. The ambience does not create much comfort due to the high ceiling and unimaginative furnishings. The staff seemed grumpy, unfriendly and inattentive. Individual tables were occupied and the staff created a high level of noise during the meal by constantly moving tables and chairs. Food in quotation marks, all three of us haven't been served such food in a long time. All 3 “dishes” consisted almost exclusively of convenience products including salad and sauces. I've never had such gray salmon on my plate as here, the tagiatelle pasta stuck together in one piece and the sauce had the character of tasteless paste. When my wife's Jäger schnitzel was cut, the entire bottom and top breading fell off in one piece and the small side salad that was served was from a can and very sour from the preservatives present. Our friend just said that he hadn't even offered his meat to his dog. 84€ for such an underground mess is really audacious. The kitchen staff should be retrained as quickly as possible, the cooking should be fun and creative, which are foreign concepts here, because not every dish contained a freshly made or homemade product. The only positive thing was that even after 24 hours, none of the three of us had any signs of side effects in the intestines. If the award were “Gastronomy of Horror” this place would have a great chance of winning.

Wir waren am 29.12.2024 gegen 12:30Uhr mit 3 Personen essen. Die Örtlichkeit ist ein ungemütlicher Glaskasten mit Rheinblick. Das Ambiente erzeugt wenig Gemütlichkeit aufgrund des hohen Raums und phantasieloser Einrichtung. Das Personal wirkte mürrisch, unfreundlich und unaufmerksam. Einzelne Tische waren besetzt und das Personal erzeugte durch ständiges verschieben von Tischen und Stühlen einen hohen Lärmpegel während des „Essens“. Essen in Anführungsstrichen deshalb, wir haben alle 3 schon lange nicht mehr so einen Frass serviert bekommen. Alle 3 „Speisen“ bestanden fast ausschließlich nur aus Convenience-Produkte einschließlich Salat und Soßen. Ich habe noch nie so einen grauen Lachs auf dem Teller gehabt wie hier, die Tagiatelle-Nudeln klebten an einem Stück aneinander und die Soße hatte den Charakter von geschmacklosen Kleister. Beim Schnitzel meiner Frau viel beim Anschneiden die komplette Unter-und Oberpanade in einem Stück ab und der dargereichte kleine Beilagensalat war aus der Dose und stark sauer von den vorhandenen Konservierungsmitteln. Unser Bekannter meinte nur, sein Fleisch hätte er noch nicht einmal seinen Hund angeboten. 84€ für so eine unterirdischen Frass ist schon dreist. Das einzig positive war, auch nach 24h hatte niemand von uns dreien Anzeichen von Nebenwirkungen bekommen. Wenn es die Auszeichnung gebe würde „Gastronomie des Grauens“ hätte dieser Ort große Gewinnchancen.

At the end of November 2024, I celebrated my big birthday in the “Tower Room” at Wacht am Rhein with around 25 guests. It was an all-round successful celebration with a carefree character. I only took care of the music myself. From planning to the end, everything went well and smoothly: - uncomplicated and practice-oriented communication - high flexibility - great organization, even with short-term changes - top food/buffet - great service staff - great view - perfect price/performance ratio Both I and my guests were thrilled. I don't want to wait until the next big birthday. We will definitely find an excuse to celebrate here again and stop by the beer garden in the summer.

Here you pay for the ambience or location rather than the food. Unfortunately, they try to offer EVERYTHING here. From burgers to fish, schnitzel to pizza. This rarely works well. The staff also couldn't answer any allergy information. The price is way up there for small portions that can't do much. It tasted good but I can get the quality at any good snack bar. There was no change when paying so you were forced to pay a tip. I'm curious about the justification. Unfortunately nothing for me to come back again.

10am arrival Sunday brunch. Parking spaces were already filling up. We got a nice table for 4 people and were served quite quickly and very friendly (drinks). The brunch buffet was great. Everything I like was in good quality and plentiful. The location is great: with a great view of the Rhine. The surrounding area also has a lot to offer: Neuland Park, mini golf, beach bar... Worth a visit, not just on Sundays, because I also think the other buffets are very good.

We went there for the breakfast buffet for the first time this week and were disappointed. We already knew the location, location on the Rhine with a great view. But at the breakfast buffet only 1 type of cheese, 3 types of sausage but very similar. Bread only baguette bread, muesli only cornflakes and chocolate muesli. Lots of salad choices and that for breakfast? Positively fresh fruit and different egg variations. We used pots instead of individual coffees; each pot cost €18. Of course there are several cups in there, but we didn't take any new cups and no waiter had to run several times for them. So the conclusion for us: for dinner, coffee and cake again at any time, but not the breakfast buffet again.

I like it here, no matter whether it's summer or winter, as long as I see water I'm more relaxed 🤷🏼‍♀️. The service is friendly and helpful. The food is good and not too expensive. I'd love to come back.

Sunday brunch so-so. There is 1 (one) salmon trout that is eaten after 30 minutes and is not replaced. Coffee, of all things, costs extra... 17.90 euros is quite steep for what is on offer.
