Wacht am Rhein in Leverkusen

Wir waren am 29.12.2024 gegen 12:30Uhr mit 3 Personen essen. Die Örtlichkeit ist ein ungemütlicher Glaskasten mit Rheinblick. Das Ambiente erzeugt wenig Gemütlichkeit aufgrund des hohen Raums und phantasieloser Einrichtung. Das Personal wirkte mürrisch, unfreundlich und unaufmerksam. Einzelne Tische waren besetzt und das Personal erzeugte durch ständiges verschieben von Tischen und Stühlen einen hohen Lärmpegel während des „Essens“. Essen in Anführungsstrichen deshalb, wir haben alle 3 schon lange nicht mehr so einen Frass serviert bekommen. Alle 3 „Speisen“ bestanden fast ausschließlich nur aus Convenience-Produkte einschließlich Salat und Soßen. Ich habe noch nie so einen grauen Lachs auf dem Teller gehabt wie hier, die Tagiatelle-Nudeln klebten an einem Stück aneinander und die Soße hatte den Charakter von geschmacklosen Kleister. Beim Schnitzel meiner Frau viel beim Anschneiden die komplette Unter-und Oberpanade in einem Stück ab und der dargereichte kleine Beilagensalat war aus der Dose und stark sauer von den vorhandenen Konservierungsmitteln. Unser Bekannter meinte nur, sein Fleisch hätte er noch nicht einmal seinen Hund angeboten. 84€ für so eine unterirdischen Frass ist schon dreist. Das einzig positive war, auch nach 24h hatte niemand von uns dreien Anzeichen von Nebenwirkungen bekommen. Wenn es die Auszeichnung gebe würde „Gastronomie des Grauens“ hätte dieser Ort große Gewinnchancen.

At the end of November 2024, I celebrated my big birthday in the “Tower Room” at Wacht am Rhein with around 25 guests. It was an all-round successful celebration with a carefree character. I only took care of the music myself. From planning to the end, everything went well and smoothly: - uncomplicated and practice-oriented communication - high flexibility - great organization, even with short-term changes - top food/buffet - great service staff - great view - perfect price/performance ratio Both I and my guests were thrilled. I don't want to wait until the next big birthday. We will definitely find an excuse to celebrate here again and stop by the beer garden in the summer.

Unfortunately the Bombay chicken was very dry, but my colleagues' pizza was quite good. Prices are ok.

Here you pay for the ambience or location rather than the food. Unfortunately, they try to offer EVERYTHING here. From burgers to fish, schnitzel to pizza. This rarely works well. The staff also couldn't answer any allergy information. The price is way up there for small portions that can't do much. It tasted good but I can get the quality at any good snack bar. There was no change when paying so you were forced to pay a tip. I'm curious about the justification. Unfortunately nothing for me to come back again.

10am arrival Sunday brunch. Parking spaces were already filling up. We got a nice table for 4 people and were served quite quickly and very friendly (drinks). The brunch buffet was great. Everything I like was in good quality and plentiful. The location is great: with a great view of the Rhine. The surrounding area also has a lot to offer: Neuland Park, mini golf, beach bar... Worth a visit, not just on Sundays, because I also think the other buffets are very good.

We went there for the breakfast buffet for the first time this week and were disappointed. We already knew the location, location on the Rhine with a great view. But at the breakfast buffet only 1 type of cheese, 3 types of sausage but very similar. Bread only baguette bread, muesli only cornflakes and chocolate muesli. Lots of salad choices and that for breakfast? Positively fresh fruit and different egg variations. We used pots instead of individual coffees; each pot cost €18. Of course there are several cups in there, but we didn't take any new cups and no waiter had to run several times for them. So the conclusion for us: for dinner, coffee and cake again at any time, but not the breakfast buffet again.

I like it here, no matter whether it's summer or winter, as long as I see water I'm more relaxed 🤷🏼‍♀️. The service is friendly and helpful. The food is good and not too expensive. I'd love to come back.

Sunday brunch so-so. There is 1 (one) salmon trout that is eaten after 30 minutes and is not replaced. Coffee, of all things, costs extra... 17.90 euros is quite steep for what is on offer.

The service staff was really great! Nowadays, it is rare to see a waitress being able to remember everyone's drink order in a larger group. The food came very quickly after ordering (really very quickly). Large quantities of convenience products are probably used here. Overall, my dish wasn't really hot either, everything was lukewarm, not really great with fries. Ambiance is great with a view of the Rhine.

The waiter was absolutely unfriendly! I had ordered liver, the mashed potatoes were cold and there was fat floating on top.. the liver was hard.. when I asked for the bill and wanted to pay separately the waiter rolled his eyes.. No hospitality and the food was bad!

Actually just wanted to have a coffee. But the lunch buffet looked so delicious, we decided on it spontaneously. And no regrets. Very friendly and attentive staff.

The food was reasonable for the price, you shouldn't expect fine dining, a lot of convenience...The service was good and friendly. The ambience is a matter of taste, I personally found it a bit uncomfortable. But I'd love to go again...

Oh well. It borders on culinary terrorism. From the outside, the building looks like a run-down elementary school. Food is...well. Service good. Ambiance inside is ok. Drinks must be expensive as I paid €12 for a schnitzel on Schnitzel Day and €29.60 for three Hefeweizen. That would be around €6 per hefeweizen.

Fantastic location, with unobstructed views of the Rhine. There is seating outside, but also inside. Highly recommended!

Today I had dinner with my friend at the “Wacht am Rhein” and unfortunately we were both disappointed. In my opinion the price-performance ratio is not right! The Margherita pizza I ordered was full of fat and wasn't good. My friend was also absolutely not enthusiastic about his brawn, which was described completely differently on the menu. The staff was attentive but not friendly. You don't feel wanted as a guest and you get the feeling that the service doesn't want to do their job. I think that's a shame, because the atmosphere is really, really nice. Unfortunately there won't be another visit for me...

I think the food is great, super tasty home cooking at the buffet. Roast pork, braised ox cheeks, mashed potatoes, pasta, a good selection of salads with 3 different sauces, chicken wings, boiled fish, spinach, imperial vegetables with lots of hollandaise and a chicken curry, and a delicious soup, and fresh rolls...What more could you want? In addition, there is this unique view of the Rhine, a large selection of drinks, a great menu in addition to the buffet, super nice service, simply a great location for a day's vacation in between! I can highly recommend!

Everything was very tasty. I got the cheeseburger (photo below) which was delicious. The portion was very large and enough for an adult. The service was very nice and smart. The waiter was patient and pleasant to talk to. There is an interesting atmosphere here, right on the Rhine. Definitely deserves 5 stars!!!

The location is wonderful and the service is friendly. We were happy that there were even vegan dishes on the menu. A meal we ordered (fried vegetables with boiled potatoes, vegan) was okay, but the pizza was absolutely not. The pizza Vegataria consisted of dough with cheap cheese and frozen vegetables that tasted old and watered down. I don't usually write bad reviews, but I would really advise anyone not to order this pizza.

I have never felt so uncomfortable as I did at this restaurant. The unfriendliness of the staff could not be overlooked. I didn't think anything of it and tried to put myself in their shoes. After all, it's not easy to work in the catering industry when it's 30 degrees. I actually tolerate a lot of things from waiters, but my tolerance for unfriendliness ends. A very unsympathetic staff is fatal for a catering company. . It's a shame about the money we spent there. I hope that you show more friendliness to the guests. Went to the breakfast buffet today. A disgrace...as far as the offer is concerned. 1st type of cheese...indefinable....from the large pack.....2 types of sliced ​​sausage....also...large pack....the fruit salad consisted of watermelon triangles and apple slices...cold scrambled eggs or fried eggs ......I can't stop listing.....but....there wasn't much more. Soooo disappointing... sorry... impertinent.

I don't recommend the apple cake, but the service and atmosphere are very nice. I recommend you go and see it.

This place offers a beautiful view of the Rhine. Anyone who appreciates hearty, down-to-earth cuisine and does not particularly value culinary sophistication will find a suitable place here. The service could certainly be improved in terms of attention, but overall the restaurant offers good value for money for a relaxed meal with a wonderful view of the Rhine.

Had brunch with the family today and was disappointed. The buffet looked very cleaned around 12 p.m. The hot dishes were not excellent, you had to look under every lid. Sometimes the food was only lukewarm. It could have been filled out a little more lovingly. The price is of course cheap but you could take 2-3 € more and make it better. We definitely won't be coming for brunch again A la carte the food looked good. Maybe we'll test again then. Service was very friendly

Super nice terrace with a view of the Rhine. For this great location, the prices for food and drink are very reasonable and therefore also affordable for families.

Eating and drinking with a view of the Rhine, either on the outside terrace or inside, is simply great. There are different meals from breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake and dinner. Cocktails can also be enjoyed. The service seems a bit annoyed. But on the whole everything is fine.

Last week I was out and about and felt like having a late breakfast (because the weather was nice); preferably outside with a nice view. I found that here and treated myself to the breakfast buffet. There was plenty of fresh selection - whether fresh scrambled eggs or grilled eggplants, there was something for every taste. The young lady who served was very friendly and attentive. Just a tip: Since the parking space in front of the house was occupied, I parked across the street - and overlooked the fact that I had to get a ticket (which cost me €20). So please don’t make the same mistake 😉

The view is still the best - maybe also because of Corona and if you stay outside when the weather is nice. Then you sit on the beer tent sets and get your beer at the kiosk like you used to at the swimming pool... Of course a lot of people come because of the easily accessible (bicycle and biker) location and then, in my opinion, they pay excessive prices for the beer Plastic cups......so why bother here?? It's better to drive past it and get your drink at the nearest real kiosk

So far we have enjoyed coming here to eat/have breakfast. But the quality of the food has deteriorated a lot. Buffet at breakfast is filled too slowly. In addition, on the last visit the coffee latte was inedible (it tasted like dishwashing liquid). We went back and had to let the old lady at the counter piss us off. We were at the WaRh last week. eat. Unfortunately, I always let myself be tempted there by the nice atmosphere. The kitchen used to be acceptable there and the nice seating and the view overshadowed the quality of the kitchen. But it really gets worse and I can't recommend the kitchen. I don't usually write bad reviews, but other guests also trust the reviews. We each had two steaks that apparently didn't weigh 200g each. The pepper steak was also drowned in sauce. The large mixed salad was hardly more than the side salad, but almost three times more expensive. Oh yes... we also had the Mediterranean starter plate, which seemed to consist of soft vegetables from a glass. The tuna pizza was also not edible and too salty. (if necessary, drain the tuna first??) The price/performance ratio is not right at all, especially since this quality should generally not be offered and should only be limited to coffee/cake/drinks and very simple dishes. I should have gone to another restaurant for steaks. You're always wiser afterwards. It was stupid, but the Wacht am Rhein only sees me for a drink or ice cream. You can't go wrong there. PS: The service was at least very friendly and attentive.

The ambience is actually the most beautiful. Food came quite quickly, but fries were lukewarm. We had the mushroom cream schnitzel, the canned mushrooms were a shame. The schnitzel itself was OK. The sauce for the Jägerschnitzel tasted slightly sour. Strange for a hunter sauce. At the end the waiter asked whether it was tasty or not?! We answered honestly. But didn't get around much. THE SERVICE DEVENITIVELY DOES NOT TRIGGER A WOW EFFECT. Not unfriendly but totally unmotivated. The whole evening I had the feeling that I was reluctant to be served. The waiter can safely ask more often if anything is missing. The symbol that you would like to pay is not registered. When an order was taken at the neighboring table, the waiter was then spoken to. THE WAITER SOLELY IGNORED IT THIS TIME AGAIN. As far as the food is concerned, it's absolutely tolerable. But the fries were too salty. I wouldn't go there again.

The atmosphere and view was nice. However, if you value good cuisine, you shouldn't expect much from the quality and seasoning here. It fed us up. The price/performance ratio of the food was adjusted accordingly, but the drinks are a real hit for the wallet. Depending on the operator, the service ranged from very friendly to I'm doing my job. Stay for a short time during a bike ride, or to meet friends while going for a walk, or to just sit by the Rhine and have something to drink. Self-service applies outdoors without service, indoors or indoors outdoors with service staff. Very well attended when the weather was nice.

Nice location and nice size. Would like to visit more often if the traffic situation around the Leverkusen Bridge improves significantly. But that can wait, unfortunately.

Quite a nice view of the Rhine, but you shouldn't look upstream because the Bayer factory will overwhelm you there. Friendly, fast service and the prices are moderate. Unfortunately, the food (pork medallions) was not good, the meat and the sauce were sour, as if the cook had used the meat from the sauerbraten to prepare it. But friends who had spareribs were satisfied.

We ate here with a group of 20 people. The reservation went perfectly. The contact was extremely friendly and confident. The selection of dishes offered something for everyone and all participants were very satisfied with the taste. The service staff were also very friendly, although some seemed to be a bit overwhelmed due to language barriers. But that was really the only tiny criticism. Otherwise you are in good hands here - especially with a group! Keep it up!!

More appearance than reality. Yes, the location is of course great. But this is also paid for, because unfortunately the food doesn't justify the prices quoted. Carelessly prepared, canned mushrooms, meat drowned in sauce, although the meat itself was okay, but the pasta with salmon was bland and the salmon was overcooked. That's really a pity. The children's portions were at least very generous and the children enjoyed it, although we're talking about fries, a standard burger and a bockwurst. About the ambience: the location and view are great, but the rest isn't particularly nicely decorated either.

Kann die vorherigen negativen Bewertungen absolut nicht nachvollziehen. Mittagsbuffet für € 12,90 Top-Preis. Wer Sterneküche will muss halt entsprechend mehr zahlen. Wir waren zufrieden. Bedienung zuvorkommend.

Diet on a holiday when the weather was nice. Since it is located directly on the Rhine and the view invites you to linger, the restaurant was well attended by everyone who took a trip to the promenade in the nice weather. The service seemed slightly overwhelmed but tried to sort everything out. It took a while to get to the waiter to order, but the food came quickly. The taste was ok. The pasta sauce was too salty for my taste and the antipasti was marinated in too much vinegar. ( In a can?). Salad, schnitzel and burgers were good. The ice cream was also ok.

Steak very tender! Service incredibly nice. Our son didn't want his food and was kindly comforted and offered another dish. Great place on the Rhine. Nice after a bike ride. As I said, medium rump steak is highly recommended! Spare ribs also very good! Cocktails too! Wine poured very generously!
