Ich freue mich immer wieder über die kreativen und vor allem leckeren Ideen der Küche. Das Ambiente des Wohnzimmers egal ob drinnen oder am Burggraben ist einfach toll.

Das Essen ist wirklich sensationell und man fühlt sich wirklich als wenn man im Wohnzimmer ist.

Besonders bei entsprechend schönen Wetter, ist die Einnahme eines Kaffe am Fluss hinter dem Haus ein absolut schönes Erlebnis!

Total gemütlich, altes Fachwerkhaus lädt zum Entschleunigen ein. Freundliche Mitarbeiter und leckeres Essen.

Am 11.04.2026 wurden wir in stilvoller Umgebung (Außenplätze am Weiher) mit sehr gutem Cappuccino und leckerem Kuchen bewirtet. Sehr guter, zuvorkommender Service. Sehr schönes, liebevolles Ambiente! Schöner Aufenthalt!

Wir hatten hier zu Mittag gegessen und direkt mit Kuchen angeschlossen. Beides wärmstens zu empfehlen: alles regional und handgefertigt, Klasse Atmosphäre im alten Favhwerk und sehr zuvorkommendes und freundliches Personal!

Ein wunderschönes kleines Restaurant und Café mit einer kleinen dafür aber guten Speisekarte und leckeren Kuchen. Nebenbei kann man auch gleich noch guten Kaffee einkaufen.

Info auf Webseite "durchgehend warme Küche" stimmt leider nicht. Wir hatten nachmittags nach einem Ausflug auf den Hoderodskopf extra nach ein Lokal gesucht, bei dem wir nach 15 Uhr noch etwas zu Essen bekommen. Vor Ort wurde uns dann gesagt, dass es - zumindest an diesem Tag (Sonntag) zwischen 15 und 17:30 gar nichts zu essen gibt.

Wunderschönes altes Haus mit alten Möbeln. Das Frühstück ist reichlich und man kann nach ordern! Hunde sind da herzlich willkommen 🫶

Super nette Bedienung. Steak war ein Traum. Super auf den heißen Stein zum selber nachgaren.

Um vorab auf die Antwort der Betreiber zu antworten: Es war definitiv am Freitag und es war Fischgeruch. Wir haben das nicht angesprochen, da es andere Gäste schon getan hatten und zur Antwort bekamen: Tja es ist Freitag! Mir ist nicht ganz klar, warum das jetzt abgestritten wird. Und, ja, ich weiß in welchem Café ich war. Sollte es evtl. an der Kaffeerösterei liegen? Fermentierter Kaffee?? Ursprüngliche Rezension: Leider wussten wir nicht, dass freitags Fischtag im Café ist. Und leider hat es auch um 15.00 im ganzen Lokal extrem nach Fisch gerochen. Andere Gäste, die den starken Geruch ansprachen, wurden empfangen mit "Tja, es ist Freitag". Fand ich nicht so gut. Da wir von weiter her gefahren waren, haben wir dennoch Kaffee und Kuchen bestellt (nach einiger Zeit, da die Bedienung stark gefordert war und ganz schön hin-und herrennen musste obwohl es gar nicht so voll war). Die Auswahl an Kuchen war sehr begrenzt. Die vegane Apfeltorte mit Zimt war leider so gar nicht mein Geschmack-der Zimt war etwas bitter, die Schlagcreme, Äpfel und Kuchenboden eher geschmacklos, so ein bisschen Süße hätte den Kuchen geschmacklich aufgewertet. Schade, ich hatte auf besseres gehofft. Dafür war der Kirschkuchen sehr gut-sagt mein Mann. Alles in allem hat aber auch der Kaffee mich leider nicht dazu animiert, nochmals zu kommen.

Super freundlich, super lecker und extrem familiäres, gemütliches Ambiente. Dabei ein sehr erfreuliches Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, was möchte man mehr?

Bestes Restaurant das wir seit langem besucht haben. Regionale Küche, perfektes Steak, kinderfreundlich und tolles Personal. Bitte so weitermachen!

Gastfreundlichkeit auf hohem Niveau, in bezaubernden Ambiente. Am besten vorab reservieren. Schön dass es so etwas gibt! Wir werden mit Sicherheit noch mal vorbeischauen, auch wenn es eine Tagestour wird.

Wir waren das erste Mal hier und total begeistert, es ist wirklich wie ein Wohnzimmer mit so viel Liebe eingerichtet. Die Besitzer sind ein Ehepaar das auf die Gäste zugeht und sehr darauf bedacht ist das die Gäste sich wohl fühlen. Die Einrichtung ist Antik aus Holz es ist auch noch eine schöne Sitzecke mit altem Sofa vorhanden, der Raum ist typisch Fachwerk mit großen Holzbalken und mit schönen passenden Accessoires abgerundet. Das Essen ist sehr lecker und es gibt auch selbst gemachten Kuchen und dazu frisch gerösteten Kaffee , der in der eigenen Rösterei im Haus hergestellt wird. Im Außenbereich kann man auch sehr gemütlich am Schloßgraben sitzen, hier sind auch gemütliche Sitzecken vorhanden. Einfach ein toller Ort zum Entspannen und Genießen. Ein wahrer Geheimtipp.

Seltener Platz drinnen und draußen, aber gemütlich und ungewöhnlich. Die meisten Speisen stammen aus nachhaltiger, regionaler Bio-Landwirtschaft und Tierhaltung.

Truly great service. Despite the full garden and busy restaurant, the seven of us were accommodated in a really nice spot in the restaurant. The food was simply delicious, and the local beer selection was just what I wanted. We were able to bring our dog. Thank you for the lovely evening. By the way, it was about a 45-minute leisurely walk from the campsite at the Nidda Reservoir to the restaurant.

We came for the volcano burger. Very tasty 🤤 Huge portion and salad included. The cake is also highly recommended. Nice atmosphere.

A very nice ambience both inside and outside

It's worth a visit. (We saw a report on the Vulkan Wohnzimmer on HR TV and made a reservation right away.) Delicious buffet. Home-smoked salmon and ham. It was constantly replenished, as it was only served in small quantities. The ambiance: like a living room from the past (low ceiling, small living space).

The food was good, but not seasoned enough for our taste. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by an incredibly long wait for the main course. We ordered at 6:30 PM, ahead of numerous other guests, and received our main course at 7:55 PM. Vague attempts at explanation, but no apology. We had a starter, which did indeed arrive quite quickly. But the wait for the main course (cheese spaetzle) was clearly too long. Five minutes later, and we would have left. Things like this can happen, but complaints management should be responsible for this. Apologies and no excuses.

As soon as we arrived, we were enchanted by the unique atmosphere: an idyllic spot right on the water, overlooking a small lake full of water lilies, stylishly roofed, surrounded by greenery – and brilliant sunshine. A peace and beauty rarely found. The breakfast? A true delight. There were several lovingly prepared breakfast menus to choose from – balanced, creative, and of high-quality organic quality. We were particularly impressed by the organic eggs with perfectly cooked bacon, the fine cheese and sausage selections, and the homemade organic strawberry jam, which not only tasted wonderfully fruity, but was also served in small jars with preserved strawberries as decoration – a real eye-catcher and a treat for the palate. The coffee was another highlight: home-roasted, from their own roastery, with beans from Chile – aromatic, full-bodied, and prepared with true craftsmanship. The cappuccino was wonderfully creamy and tasted divine. All in all, this breakfast was not just a meal, but an experience for all the senses: culinary delights, ambiance, quality, and attention to detail all come together here. If you value good food, authentic products, and beautiful surroundings, the Vulkanwohnzimmer is the place for you. A place to arrive, enjoy, and stay. Highly recommended! 💚

We stumbled upon this place by chance. The restaurant and outdoor area are very cozy, and the food was excellent (home-style). We can definitely recommend the "living room."

My wife and I were simply thrilled. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the decor was absolutely cozy and tastefully decorated. The food is simply delicious, whether it was the appetizer, main course, or dessert. A true culinary delight. Schnitzel for lunch, followed by a perfect coffee and cake. We picked up some coffee beans.

We were really looking forward to the VulkanWohnzimmer (volcano living room). Well, unfortunately, we were quite disappointed. The menu is quite small, which shouldn't have been a problem, but quite a lot of it was sold out. We sat in the beer garden. The chairs were ancient, extremely uncomfortable, and very close together. The staff was very nice. Our food was okay, but quite small for the high prices. 22 euros for a schnitzel, 16 euros for a salad with a few pieces of chicken. The highlight was the cheese spaetzle, 14 euros. I thought it was a child's portion. The restroom is on the first floor. Unfortunately, you can smell it in the dining room too. It's sooo unpleasant. Inside, the restaurant is very comfortably furnished. All in all, we've decided not to visit this restaurant again.

Really, really good food. We had the steak cooked on a hot stone. It was also beautifully presented and reasonably priced. The ambiance is rustic and cozy, and the service was very friendly and attentive. Next time, I'll try the burger. If you're visiting Schotten, you should definitely eat here.

Great value for money! Very friendly and attentive service from Pavlo :) We were there on Saturday morning for a hearty breakfast. Delicious cappuccino and the strawberry spritz with homemade syrup were also delicious. Wonderful seating, idyllic on the water near Altenburg Castle.

Small and quaint, we recommend making a reservation if you really want to eat there. In the outdoor area you can sit very nicely and comfortably right by the water. Service very nice and accommodating. Small but very fine menu with regional products.

Although I haven't eaten there myself, I can still recommend the restaurant with a clear conscience. The owner runs it with real passion and a lot of attention to detail - you can feel that in the way she interacts with the guests and in the atmosphere. An incredibly beautiful little restaurant with absolutely good food. The ambience outside puts you in a holiday mood. You feel like you're at Grandmother's. The owners are extremely friendly and accommodating. Here you really have the feeling that you are sitting in the living room with friends. I will definitely visit here again. In my opinion an absolute insider tip for Scots.

We ended up in the VulkanWohnzimmer on a short vacation and I have to say, the owner gave us a very friendly welcome yesterday, April 19th, 2025 😁👍 The two service staff were also very friendly and accommodating. We sat outside by the water and ate cake and pasta, which the kids and we really enjoyed 😋 that's why we can only say good things and give it 5 stars.

Unfortunately, right at the beginning it was stated what was unfortunately no longer available or what there was only one portion of. Very annoying when the menu is already very clear and the dishes that you wanted to eat there for are no longer there. Spaetzle and spaetzle with beef goulash were then ordered. What can you say... It was a disgrace! The portion of spaetzle was completely sufficient for a child's portion but never as a main course. That's a proud €17.90... cheeky! Unfortunately, the goulash was also an absolute failure. Tough as rubber and this portion is also very manageable. The service was nice and attentive and the ambience was ok, but that's not why we go out to eat...

Today I had dinner there with my company, the food was very good but above all I have to highlight the service, which was very good 👌🏼

The food was very tasty, first of all. Unfortunately, 2 points deducted because we were greeted with the words “it will take longer in the kitchen today” and this immediately gave us a negative feeling. We had made a special reservation, arrived a few minutes early and didn't plan on eating in record time. Waiting time at the end was 40 minutes, which is completely acceptable. Nevertheless, the negative touch was simply there. The children's portion of noodles was also just ok. The sauce was diluted with water and didn't satisfy our 5 year old who isn't a huge eater. She then stole potatoes and vegetables from us to fill us up. When we then ordered espresso, we received an eye-rolling service with the words “but that will take a while”. As if we were disturbing. Very unfortunate.

Very nice atmosphere near the castle, you can sit outside when the weather is good. The Vulkanburger's burger bun actually looks like lava, but tastes better ;-) Overall, a very pleasant stay in Schotten

Very nice location. Sitting by the moat is really idyllic. The service was friendly. The selection of food is small. We had the volcano burger. Unfortunately this one was really bad! I don't know if it was because we got the last two burgers that day. In any case, the burgers are objectively small. D = max. 9cm. The patties were fried to death and super hard. The multi-colored bun was touted as a special feature, but was actually just particularly dry. The side dishes: fried potatoes very tasty but very little. Salad was on the same plate and already tasty, but more of a garnish. We were prepared for a mega burger for €17.90 and were unfortunately very disappointed.

place to linger, slow down. very pretty half-timbered house. Through a small passage with a draped chain of lights, the image of a small lake opens up, framed by wild trees and bushes. Lovingly furnished seating with checkered cushions invite you to linger on the bank... inside you almost feel like a protagonist of an old doll's house who has come to life and where time has stood still in a positive way. The guest can see and taste the cake that it is handmade and not something from an assembly line. The ladies from the service were also lovely to us. a good hour away from ffm. is definitely worth a visit.

Such a shame... we were really looking forward to eating here based on the positive reviews. Even though there wasn't much going on, absolutely disastrous service. After 20 minutes we still couldn't order drinks. This wasn't because we weren't seen. We then left...We could also see that we were far from the only annoyed guests. We go out to eat very often and I rarely write a bad review (even when it MIGHT have been appropriate), but here I was really disappointed and really angry. Never again, sorry. Regarding reaction to my review: Thank you for your very nice and professional response, despite my criticism. Maybe we'll try it again when we're in the region again.

The rooms inside and outside are really attractive! Service was nice, but we clearly expected more from the food. No satisfying vegan options and everything was pretty bland. Cakes looked great, but we didn't try them.

Wonderful restaurant with a unique atmosphere, delicious food and friendly service! Cozy, homely inside the restaurant and very romantic in the beer garden by the pond. The staff is pleasant, responsive and responds individually to each visitor. We were there for breakfast on Sunday and dinner in the evening, everything is 100%. Thank you very much!

It's absolutely great here, you get a great cake or tart and very good coffee. It is also very comfortably furnished. The staff is very nice and fulfills every wish.

The Volcano Living Room is definitely a fantastic place! First of all, the staff is super cool and helpful! The food there is simply delicious, from savory dishes to delicious cakes. The food is impressive and the quality is excellent. Whether you're looking for a tasty main course or a sweet dessert, the Volcano Living Room won't disappoint. A real culinary delight!

I ordered cappuccino and a piece of cake. First we waited a long time and then I got my cup of cappuccino but the waitress forgot about my cake. According to my husband's recollection, I also got my cake. Cappuccino was delicious but coffee dream - I can't recommend cake.

So far I've only had coffee and cake and it was really tasty... I'm going to try the Friday chicken soon...

Too expensive for the small pieces of cake. With 2 people, 2 pieces of cake and 2 pots of coffee, I think it's quite excessive. The ambience is simply great thanks to the half-timbered house. Conclusion: It's better to bake the cake yourself. Unfortunately, I have to say that the operators don't like negative reactions because people complained about my review. I wrote this review because I know of several comparisons where the price is similar but you get more for good quality.

You enter a quaint, cozy room and, with a bit of luck, take a seat on an antique sofa. The welcoming impression from the outside is confirmed by the service. After I learned that the vegan burger patties are made in-house, I tried the kidney bean version. It was absolutely delicious and next time I will try the celery patty. I didn't pay any extra for the oat milk in the cocoa, which I always welcome. The price-performance ratio is absolutely great. All in all highly recommended.

Wir haben wieder ein gemütliches Café/Restaurant entdecken dürfen, das sich mit glutenfrei und Zöliakie sehr gut auskennt 🙏🏻😃 Die Kuchen sind allesamt glutenfrei gewesen, dazu unglaublich saftig und geschmacklich ein Traum! Auch der Salatteller mit Ziegenkäse war richtig lecker. Vor lauter Freude über die Kuchen und Torten habe ich diesmal die Bilder ganz vergessen, daher heute nur ein wenig Einblick in das Ambiente. Und weil wir hier ganz sicher zu Stammgästen werden, gibt es beim nächsten Mal auch ganz sicher Bilder zum neidisch werden 😉👍🏻

Waren mit der gesamten Familie hier, ohne Reservieren für 5 Leute Platz gehabt, wobei das wohl eine Ausnahme darstellte! Das Personal freundlich und entgegenkommend. Frühstück vielfältig und sehr lecker, gerade der selbstgeröstete Kaffee ist verzückend. Leider wurden unsere Eier vergessen und kamen als wir schon fertig mit essen waren. Die Uhrige Einrichtung ist einfach toll und man fühlt sich in der Zeit zurückversetzt. Einfach schön. Außen mit der Sicht auf den hinten liegenden Fluss/Bach ist einfach schön.

Ungeplant habe ich dieses tolle Local im Hinterhof von Schotten gefunden und bin seit dem völlig begeistert. Wie ihr wisst kann ich nicht anderes wenn ein Klavier zum spielen einlädt und so konnte ich meine tollen Eindrücke musikalisch einfangen. Nutzt das tolle Angebot von hausgemachten Kuchen, exzellenter Küche sowie herzlichste Bedienung den diese runden dieses Erlebnis zu meiner vollsten Zufriedenheit ab. Vielleicht sehen wir uns ja mal,… geplantes Konzert ist nicht ausgeschlossen❤️

Sehr nettes kleines Restaurant mit schönem Ambiente. Das Essen war schmackhaft und die Portionen gut. Der Service war sehr nett und aufmerksam. Einen Punkt Abzug gibt es dafür dass wir 10 Steaks vorbestellt hatten, bei Ankunft mussten wir uns dann aber zwischen 3 x Filet, 3 x Hüfte und 4x Entrecote entscheiden. Das war in der Karte nicht zu ersehen.

Super leckeres Frühstück an einem richtig schönen Ort. Prima, dass es auch glutenfreie Brötchen gibt. Die große Auswahl an glutenfreien Kuchen war überraschend und lecker waren sie auch noch 😊
