A fantastic visit! With a baby (1 year old), a large dog, and a total of six adults, the perfect table was reserved for us. The service was exceptionally attentive and very polite: the dog was taken care of immediately, and they proactively offered to bring the baby's food early so the mood wouldn't sour. It was extremely busy during our visit, which meant the kitchen and service staff were very busy. While the first wine was forgotten during the monthly set menu with wine pairing, the way they handled it was exemplary: a generous refill, later a shot of schnapps and an additional glass of wine as an apology, and even the first course served a second time so the wine could be enjoyed with the meal. The price was perfectly reasonable, and the quality and, above all, the taste were extremely good for all six of us. We will definitely be back – two of us have been here several times before. If I could give more than five stars, I would.

We come here often and are always extremely satisfied. Great food, friendly service, cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Please decide whether dogs are allowed or not. It's completely unclear for guests.

+ Beautiful barrels, comfortable beds, and a wonderfully secluded location on the edge of the forest at Hoherodskopf. The heating worked really well; it was nice and warm! - The barrel toilets were so filthy after less than one evening that we could only use one properly. A wild animal (hedgehog? mouse?) had apparently taken up residence in the wall of the barrel and made noise almost all night; we only managed to sleep for three hours. When we politely pointed this out, we were simply told cheerfully that it was normal. I don't consider that good service—there are certainly ways to avoid such things. At least a heads-up beforehand would have been helpful. Breakfast was tasty, but the selection was really too small for the price. The ambiance in the breakfast room was nice, though. Nevertheless, the quality didn't justify the price. Unfortunately, fireworks were apparently permitted on the premises, so the other guests set off quite a few for 30 minutes in front of our barrel. We found this disturbing and disappointing, as we had specifically chosen to spend New Year's Eve in nature. If it had been in the parking lot and the walls had been soundproof, it would have been fine. But as it was, the guests disturbed all the other barrels lying around – some guests from other barrels had also gone to bed early. In conclusion: We spent the night in a barrel and enjoyed it except for the night, but unfortunately, we won't be repeating this experience.

We spontaneously decided to visit the Taufsteinhütte again after many years. It was Boxing Day 2025. Taking no chances, we quickly booked a table. And we were glad we did! The restaurant was packed when we arrived (there were three of us) under a bright, sunny sky! Choosing what to order was easy. There were only two set menus to choose from (as advertised): 5 courses for €89 3 courses for €59 We opted for the 3-course menu because it was also available for vegetarians – which we are. In short – location: 5 stars Food (good value for money): 5 stars Staff and service – two young women, Laureen and Frieda, caught our attention. Both worked with great focus and professionalism. They were quick, courteous, friendly, and customer-oriented. Compliments! Compliments also to the kitchen – the food was delicious and – presentation matters – beautifully presented. We had a very cozy and relaxing night! It was beautifully decorated with so much love. We felt very comfortable and the staff was very friendly! We will definitely come back!

Very friendly service, great food

I received a friendly welcome. Although the kitchen was still closed and the service was blocked, the chef brought me something to eat. It tasted very good: beef brisket with savoy cabbage and boiled potatoes. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture. I can't comment on the rooms. The price-performance ratio is good. I will definitely come back again.

We stayed overnight in the barrels. I'd been to the restaurant a few years ago, and the food and the restaurant itself were already very nice. Years later, I can still say the same. It was simply wonderful. The service was very friendly, the food was fantastic, and the barrels were spotlessly clean. So we're already booking for next year. I can only recommend that everyone eat here and stay overnight.

We're very conflicted. The four of us had dinner at the restaurant at the end of October and were absolutely thrilled with the food, service, and atmosphere. Based on this fantastic experience, we booked the breakfast buffet at the Vulkanhütte (Volcano Hut) that same evening... and now we're really disappointed. It was incredibly cramped, and the breakfast buffet selection was like anything you'd find in an all-inclusive restaurant – nothing special or exceptional. For that reason, we felt the price of €29 per person was exorbitant. Unfortunately, the platters were often empty, and while they were refilled, it was quite late. To make matters worse, we didn't have a good table; we were seated right by the entrance, so every guest who came in stopped directly in front of us to greet other guests or the staff. What also bothered me personally was that dogs of all sizes were able to squeeze into the cramped hut. It's not pleasant when a large dog has to stare at your full plate. We certainly won't be coming back for breakfast.

We ate at the Taufstein Hut. The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent. The price was commensurate with the quality and service. Despite the large number of guests, the staff was very friendly, and our requests were fulfilled very quickly.

We spontaneously decided to visit the Taufstein Hut on a beautiful winter day. We were lucky and got a table for two without a wait! That was really great – but I think it's more sensible to reserve in advance. Not all spontaneous hikers were so lucky! The food was excellent! We had the burger and the meatloaf, and both were delicious! The atmosphere was very cozy and the fireplace made it nice and warm. The service was very friendly! The food took a little while, but that wasn't a problem at all, and you have to remember that the restaurant was very busy.

We ate at the restaurant for the first time yesterday. The server was very friendly and attentive, but unfortunately, she was only responsible for taking orders and handling payments. The other staff members were more preoccupied with having a loud and disruptive time in a side room. As a result, they forgot to clear the appetizers, which made serving the main courses a problem. The beef broth was served lukewarm, and the non-alcoholic shandy was warm. The main course (boiled beef) was good, but the potatoes required considerable skill to cut, otherwise they would have fallen off the plate. The skin was too tough (this forms when cooked potatoes sit for a long time). For the price, the only positive thing is the very nice ambiance. I expected much more...

Unfortunately, I can only rate this restaurant as average. For the prices charged, the quality is far too low. The ambiance is easily worthy of 5 stars, but the food and service are anything but. Before you're shown to your table, several servers walk past you without giving you any attention whatsoever, not even a "Good evening," "Hello," or anything similar. But now to the food. The "shrimp in herb butter" turned out to be shrimp in a mixture of onion, mushrooms, and a little bit of other vegetables, in a sauce with curry as the dominant flavor. The temperature left much to be desired, the taste was good, but the dish bore no resemblance to its description on the menu. I certainly wouldn't have ordered it that way. The main course was a venison goulash with spaetzle, red cabbage, and a dollop of lingonberry jam. This dish, too, was not exactly piping hot. The goulash tasted good, but consisted almost entirely of meat fibers with a few small pieces of meat. So, unfortunately, it was overcooked. The red cabbage was a homeopathic dose, about the size of a scoop of ice cream. As with the meat, it tasted good, but was overcooked. The dessert, a sampler of desserts, was by far the best course. Several blunders by the staff, such as forgetting drinks and trying to serve food before the table had been cleared, completed the overall negative impression. Additionally, friends, acquaintances, or colleagues were sitting loudly in an adjoining room, their children practically screaming the house down, and the door to this room was left open so that the guests could also hear the noise. The price-performance ratio was extremely disproportionate that evening. Furthermore, there was no parking lot lighting. Without a flashlight, you're literally standing there in the dark during the winter months. All in all, I cannot recommend this restaurant in any way.

We regularly eat at the Taufsteinhütte and are always thrilled. The atmosphere and service are fantastic. Many thanks to the whole team!

We stopped in today at 1:15 pm and had an absolutely fantastic meal. The service was top-notch. We'll be back!

The staff are very nice good mountain bike route

We don't understand some of the negative reviews and agree with the positive ones. We received a very friendly welcome. Luckily, I had a reservation, and the assigned table was perfect. The menu arrived promptly, and drinks were taken. The ambiance was rustic and of high quality. The service was prompt and extremely friendly. We even got a glimpse into how the salad dressing is made, thank you for that. The appetizer and main course were a delight. Finally, there was one negative point, for which the restaurant is absolutely not responsible. Three people were seated at the next table, both of whom had two dogs with them. The large one smelled extremely unpleasant. Luckily, we had finished our meals and were able to escape by paying and leaving. We felt sorry for the people at the next table who were still having their main courses and were quietly upset about it but didn't say anything. As I wrote, the excellent service was innocent of the situation.

Great atmosphere and excellent food!

We spent a wonderful evening staying overnight at the Taufsteinhütte. A very cozy and well-kept atmosphere, friendly, competent service staff, and, of course, excellent food! An exceptional overnight experience at the "Wiesenhütte." The breakfast the next morning also left nothing to be desired. We're already planning our next visit.

From the very beginning, it was a wonderful and very personal experience. From the initial telephone contact (with Ms. Sachs), through the duration of my stay (restaurant and overnight stay), to the farewell, I felt welcome and really well-cared for. Spending the night in the barrel is really fun and has a bit of an adventure feel to it, especially when there are gusts of 80 km/h at night and it's raining sideways. The barrel is cozy and equipped with a nice thick blanket and pillow. The sanitary barrels are well-equipped, with a shower, toilet, large mirror, etc. The restaurant is rightly highly praised. I had the Taufsteinburger, absolutely amazing, with sweet potato. All the guests at the neighboring tables were also very satisfied. The menu, wine list, and even the schnapps/liqueur list showcase excellent regional products. A charming little getaway, an hour from Frankfurt. Please keep it up, I'm sure you'll delight many more guests.

Great view I was at the Taufsteinhütte as a guest at a wedding reception. The reception took place at the Vulkanhütte. The Vulkanhütte was a fantastic location for the reception. The facilities were fantastic. The service staff was super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, and the selection was very good. It made for a fantastic celebration. Thanks to the Taufsteinhütte team!

I have no idea what's going on with this restaurant, but they should either hire more staff or offer fewer seats. We waited over an hour for our food, and our children are already very impatient. This is the first and last time I'll eat here. Respectfully, after asking twice where our food was, it was served 20 minutes later. There was a long black hair in the food. The children's meal we ordered was missing a salad. The kitchen and service department were completely overwhelmed.

Highly recommended! The Taufsteinhütte impresses with its beautiful ambiance and exceptionally attentive service! Special requests, such as those for celiac disease, were accommodated immediately – even gluten-free bread was provided. Drinks and food arrived quickly, and the welcome from the kitchen was a lovely surprise. The food was excellent: the spinach dumplings were delicious, and the house-made vegetarian burger was a real highlight, absolutely worth the price. Despite a wedding taking place at the same time, the service in the restaurant was impeccable. An all-round successful visit – we'd love to come back!

The restaurant offers a very good selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. The attentive service is particularly noteworthy: As soon as we mentioned that someone in our group had to eat gluten-free, a special gluten-free greeting appeared from the kitchen. The fact that the team also knows the difference between celiac disease and gluten intolerance, which is not a given, is an extra big plus. The main course also catered to our needs with great attention: While there was no gluten-free burger bun, the kitchen simply lovingly served the burger between two slices of gluten-free white bread – very attentive! Overall, the guests were treated with extreme hospitality and courtesy. Even a large wedding party didn't disrupt the service or cause long waits. Add to that the delicious food – absolutely recommended!

Having to wait a very long time for food

We ate at the restaurant. Online reservation was easy, and a reminder email was sent – ​​perfect. The atmosphere was cozy, but unfortunately, we couldn't sit outside due to the weather. The food was very tasty and of good quality, and there was more than enough food – we were delighted. The service staff were very friendly and attentive.

A dreamy place and warm staff. My first impression was, "Oh, it's so beautiful here," and that feeling stayed with me until the very last moment. Even the kitchen knows exactly what it's doing; the service and food fully fall into the "upscale" category. But the highlight was the overnight stay in the meadow hut, a bit secluded from the other guests, where you had your own space. We will definitely be back and want to experience and enjoy it again.

Incredibly special location ❣️ We just spent/enjoyed an overnight stay in Barrel No. 7, including breakfast. We found the sleeping barrel very special and romantically cozy. Sure, it's small, but that's also what makes it so special. Everything in the barrel village is well thought out, and the toilet and shower barrels are super hygienically clean, have sizzling hot water, and fantastic water pressure. This pleasantly surprised me, considering the altitude of the complex (700 m above sea level). We had a wonderfully delicious dinner in the adjoining restaurant! It was truly a dream, both in terms of food and service! Breakfast the next morning exceeded our expectations: EVERYTHING was there, from salmon to various types of eggs, various breads/rolls, various jams, etc. The delicious salami slices were folded into very decorative "roses," which were a bit difficult to take apart, though. Overall: PERFECT An absolute five-star recommendation for this special location ❣️

Unfortunately, there's incredible noise from the youth hostel next door. It wasn't until 2:30 a.m., as a room guest, that I realized, and called the police, that this couldn't be permitted/normal. Given today's overnight prices, it would be expected that there would be a precautionary measure after 10 p.m. due to noise pollution from the Taufsteinhütte. Very annoying, as this is certainly not the first time, and the staff on site probably noticed it earlier...

I hadn't heard of the Taufsteinhütte before, as we're not even remotely from the area. We were invited to a wedding and were thrilled. The service was very attentive and incredibly friendly :) One waiter in particular was incredibly nice and fulfilled our every wish. We were able to try a wide variety of food... various appetizers, several main courses, desserts, cakes, and so on. EVERYTHING was delicious! The location was a dream. The interior of the hut was rustic but very elegantly decorated. Our apartment there was also very, very nice! Everything was very high-quality, made of natural materials. The pictures don't do it justice. The breakfast was good, but I expected more. The selection was rather limited.

We went to the Taufsteinhütte for dinner today. The location and ambiance are very nice and cozy. The reservation via the website worked perfectly. The service and staff were all very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. The value for money is absolutely reasonable. We would be happy to come back and would happily recommend the Taufsteinhütte.

This place and the food have attracted us several times, so we went there two weeks ago – unfortunately. The staff had an internal dispute to resolve, which apparently involved the owner/boss. Wrong food, bad-tempered service, while we were eating, a server was loudly setting the tables next to us – and even after we asked her to do it later, she asked the boss, came back, and just carried on – as a guest here, you feel like a nuisance. After that, no one else came. We then paid at the reception, which was only possible after repeated requests – because the boss and the staff were arguing – unbelievable. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time it's happened – we once left after 25 minutes because we weren't served. The food is very good – whether it was game or fish – simply fantastic. It just seems the boss doesn't manage his staff properly… 👎

We went there with a large group after making a reservation for Sunday lunch. The food was okay, but definitely not worth the price. On the other hand, the service was abysmal. We waited over 30 minutes for our drinks to even arrive. After serving, no staff were seen again. None of our group was even asked if they wanted anything else to drink. Our plates weren't cleared away until the end. We also had to pay at reception because no staff showed up. By the way, we found it unbearable that we had to buy a parking ticket because parking was only permitted for overnight guests. The on-site parking lot was almost empty.

Four of us ate there. Everything was perfect! The service was particularly outstanding (David and a blond waiter with glasses, whose name we unfortunately don't have, were simply fantastic!). I highly recommend it to everyone.

Beautiful location and decoration of the venue, but the food was really disappointing. Very poor quality - the parmesan was inedible on my starter it was so old and chewy - and ignored allergies notified to the kitchen and nearly made me serious unwell but simply “scraping off” the contaminated parts of my fish and re-serving. Really shocking behaviour in a place that is supposed to be high quality - and the price is very high so you would expect this too. The only thing that saved the place was the very friendly and helpful waiting staff.

We went to the restaurant at the Taufstein Hut. It's not suitable for walkers or wheelchairs. The paths are gravel. The food and price were reasonable for a hut.

An overnight stay in a treehouse barrel was an experience. Beautiful surroundings, a delicious breakfast, and dinner in the restaurant was equally excellent. I particularly like the service of a young man who repaired the barrel door, which wouldn't lock, and also provided attentive service at our dinner – thank you again for that.

A place full of memories – with minor flaws I remember the restaurant from my childhood, back when it was run by the Bender family. It was an integral part of my life for many decades, which made it all the more enjoyable to be there again – this time with a larger group on the terrace, at a very nice table. The service was truly excellent: very friendly, attentive, and courteous. The food, however, was unfortunately inconsistent. Some main courses were outstanding, others rather disappointing. My salad plate with a fine fish combination was unfortunately dry, even a bit burnt around the edges. The salad was mushy, and the advertised oyster mushrooms were missing – but were served upon request (in three small pieces). Here, you get the feeling that several chefs are working in the kitchen. The ambiance outside is still very nice. Previously, under the new owner, the interior featured works by the regional artist Paul-Eduard Pfisterer, which wonderfully matched the style of the restaurant. He focuses on the landscape and people of the region (Voglesberg), capturing them impressively and picturesquely in oil paints. These have since been replaced, unfortunately with paintings that, in my opinion, don't match the charm and atmosphere of the restaurant. Nevertheless, the visit remains a positive memory thanks to the excellent service and the nostalgic atmosphere.

Not good at all, although the ambiance and location are very nice. Worst bouillabaisse ever: about 150 ml of brown sauce, similar to goulash soup, lacking a great fish flavor, studded with shrimp and pieces of fish, some of which tasted of freshwater fish, and no rouille: It had absolutely nothing to do with a genuine southern French soup. A disaster in terms of taste – for 18 euros. The salad dressing was a kind of tomato sauce that tasted strongly of stock and drowned the salad. The cordon bleu was OK. The crème brûlée had the consistency and taste of scrambled egg, with no creaminess. The service was completely uncoordinated and arrogant. We had to wait a long time for our drinks each time. Addressing the (even older) guests informally by the consistently young staff seems to be the order of the day here, culminating in the card payment process: "If you want to leave a tip, you can enter it here or press no." ``` Far from fine dining and good service—but at the top end of the price range. What a shame!

Bad: Prices aren't displayed anywhere, and no one needs to tell you; you can always ask. It should be on the menu, and the staff gave the impression that they didn't care.

We went to the Vulkanhütte for breakfast brunch today. The food, quality, and presentation were excellent! The atmosphere and location were also beautiful and harmonious! A big compliment to the service staff: Natascha, Katharina, and Pius. We'd love to come back.

We went there for breakfast. Despite having a reservation, the location wasn't clear. A high chair wasn't available at first, despite having requested one in advance, so we went and got one ourselves. The breakfast itself was good and varied. The restaurant was very loud and crowded. The tables were extremely close together.

Everything was wonderful, the barrel in the tree was so cozy and a special experience. Despite the temperatures being very cool at night, it was totally uncomfortable. It's a shame - great wooden ambience - food is okay - service and organization are uniquely bad - total overwhelm! We were 6 people for dinner with a reservation. After taking the drinks, we were grandly promised that we should give the counter 2 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Unfortunately it ended up being 30 minutes. We wanted to place our food order straight away, but it wasn't taken. For this she was accepted at the next table, but they came after us. After taking the order, the waiter / waiter / restaurant manager first went to the kitchen, but came back to the table after 2-3 minutes, apologized because he had pressed the wrong button when sending the order to the kitchen and the order was therefore canceled. So we had to order again. After what felt like an hour we asked if we should leave again, but no - two meals came - the two starters. After these had been eaten, the first two plates of the main course arrived after another break. These were half eaten, then the next 2 plates came - after another break then the remaining 2 plates. So everything is very comfortable and harmonious. When we complained, they argued that everything was cooked fresh and that no one had ever starved to death. The neighboring table was served before us - even though they came later - (it was perhaps a little easier because there were only 3 people). When paying, the customer-unfriendly argument was again made that it wasn't a whole hour, but only three quarters of an hour... an unpleasant discussion that we will avoid in the future by saying that this was a one-off experience and we simply won't go there again. So: Organization, service and customer friendliness: FALSE!

We had the forest hut and were very excited. You can walk the high-altitude hiking trail here (takes about 2 hours) and is suitable for everyone, including older people. We had half board: dinner and breakfast - both were delicious. Food, staff, hut and service were simply great! Gladly again.

We stayed in the cozy barrel for two nights. The first dinner (half board) was great. We had a choice of three main courses (vegetarian options). Super delicious three-course menu. Very pleasant and warm atmosphere, especially due to the great service. We expected more from breakfast on Saturday and were pleasantly surprised on Sunday. For the second dinner we sat in another room with different service staff. Unfortunately, everything went very slowly here and we had to wait quite a bit (>30 minutes) for the first drinks and the individual dishes. Like the night before, these were very tasty and the portion was more than enough. There are many hiking trails so it doesn't get boring during the day.

Planned for a long time, our wish of “spending the night in a wine barrel” finally came true. There is something very special about spending the night in a wine barrel, simply cozy, romantic, close to nature! The first dinner was fantastic, excellent service, great food and a feel-good atmosphere that left nothing to be desired. The breakfast the next morning continued on from the previous evening and once again shone with great service and a rich buffet where everyone could find what they were looking for, once again in a great ambience, with a view of the Hoherodskopf. The location alone guarantees a wonderful stay, which we enjoyed very much. We would like to say thank you very much for allowing us to be guests and we look forward to coming back.

I am absolutely thrilled! It was a dream experience from start to finish. The food was a delight! – the quality is unsurpassed. The service was first class, very attentive and friendly. You really feel like you're in an oasis of well-being here. Highly recommended!

I can only warmly recommend the Taufsteinhütte. It's not just the top location, but also this unique ambience. The staff is courteous and friendly. The food is of outstanding quality and is served perfectly prepared. There are enough parking spaces available. However, you shouldn't try to get a place on weekends at peak times without a reservation. The prices are reasonable for this quality, presentation and quantity. I can only recommend going there or hiking there. Clearly 5 stars plus. Since I was only there to eat, I can't give any information about the rooms.

A beautiful place where you can unwind and relax. The wine barrels are super great. Small and simply comfortable. The food is very tasty. The staff always friendly. We received a packed lunch for our hiking tour. We would like to go there again and stay overnight

We had a wonderful stay at the Bergchalet Holzwiese. The team at the Taufsteinhütte was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. We look forward to our next visit.

Very nice reception and service, there were no free tables left, but something was organized for us because we booked a night in the wine barrels. Food a 10/10, service was very funny and courteous. 😊

Sleeping barrels are super cozy, clean and definitely worth a trip. The food wasn't quite as convincing - some of it was too salty or not very tasty and unfortunately greasy. Breakfast buffet, on the other hand, was very varied and appealing

Today I took a trip to Hoherodskopf with my girlfriend. Fantastically beautiful and recommended. Afterwards we had a good time in the beautiful baptismal hut. Great service 🫶 beautiful, tasteful ambience and very, very tasty food 😋

What a nice destination in the Vogelsberg on the Hoherodskopf… 1 km before that…. What a well thought out concept that leaves nothing to be desired... Even the long uphill journey through fairytale fog... snow-covered birches and other solitary trees get you in the mood for the destination... it's mid-February... It snowed lightly… finally… and then the sun, slightly transfigured, breaks through... Could it be more romantic? Then arriving with the beautiful ambience in advance… Warm candlelight from many lanterns outside… inside even more in beautiful candlesticks…wood… farmhouse cupboards… fresh flowers…. beautifully set tables…..😍 a dream wherever we look... Outside we were greeted by a light whiff of delicious food smells... You couldn't smell it inside anymore... the rooms are large and spacious... In the fireplace room, the table we had ordered was waiting for us in the corner, from which we could look into the fire... A very loving, extremely attentive young lady looked after us in the most pleasant way... gave us enough space to choose... and enjoy… All I can say about food and drink is: delicious... My tip: come here and try it out for yourself... If you can, you should book a wellness weekend... it has to be fantastic! We had lunch today... uh But a tip: try the dessert variation... (I actually couldn't decide on a single one) We also saw the hiking trails outside that start directly from here... next time definitely with proper footwear... (I guess I didn't google everything) I wish future visitors as much joy as we had and say compliments to the team for this appealing overall concept...

We were there for the winter BBQ. Unfortunately very disappointing. As if this was the first BBQ ever. Inattentive, disorganized, food unfortunately not tasty at all and also very poorly cooked. Chicken very very raw, shrimps and mushrooms unfortunately no grill marks to be seen, flamed salmon totally raw, salad with very thin supposed Caesar sauce, meat not tasty. Missing plates, spoons for dessert, grilled chicken was placed in bowls with hands on the buffet. Unsavory, even if employees wore gloves. But they also wore these away from the grill. You have to get the meat from the ice-cold outside area, unfortunately the rest on the plate gets cold. Positively worth mentioning is the really nice hut in terms of the atmosphere. But for 55 euros without drinks that's not possible. Paid 270 euros with four people and dissatisfied. We will not attend any more events. This is so much better!

Yesterday we went to the Taufstein Hütte for a winter barbecue and were unfortunately extremely disappointed. For the price of 55€ per person Without drinks we expected more. Unfortunately the food wasn't really warm and the food wasn't really cooked, my wife had a chicken skewer that was mostly raw as was the bratwurst. We will no longer visit the baptismal hut in the future. The anticipation for my birthday meal was great, but now the disappointment is even greater.

Not a good hiking destination and unfriendly, it's better to walk straight on to the Hoherodskopf mountain inn, 10 minutes further

A truly wonderful getaway that touched all the senses in every way! Nothing was missing in the chalet! Everything is very high quality and lovingly furnished! We were here once in October and were already impressed by the ambience, the waiters, chefs and reception. You will be greeted courteously and friendly! Today I celebrated my sister's birthday with a small family circle. We come from the region. I couldn't have chosen a better place for this. We were ALL blown away by the service. We would like to highlight this in particular here. We were warmly welcomed by a service employee outside by the cozy fire with mulled wine and punch for the children. Before dinner, Mr. Klaus gave us a short, romantic torchlight hike around the Taufsteinhütte and the Hoherodskopf. It was wonderful and very informative. We really recommend asking reception about such a tour. When we got back to the restaurant, we couldn't help but feel WOW when we saw the wine cellar that had been booked for us. It was really so beautifully decorated and so beautifully set that we were almost afraid to sit down and touch something :D Simply WOW. The restaurant was completely booked that day, but we still got our drinks very quickly (including a few aperitifs like the apple caramel martini - this is really divine :D) Dips and bread quickly arrived with the drinks. Despite the restaurant being full, I have to say that we were repeatedly asked if we had anything else we wanted and that the food was served super quickly. We had gnocchi, chicken strips, meatloaf, rump steak, schnitzel and, for the kids, spaghetti Bolognese. Perfection of the kitchen 👌🏽 For me it could actually use a little more salt but the salt and pepper mills on the tables allow you to season yourself ;) We found it so delicious and so nice that we will come back. Super great staff. Great service. We actually felt close to heaven today thanks to you. Thanks.

Excellent restaurant and nice atmosphere, delicious food and beautifully served with great courtesy. The waiter's work was also of a high standard. My rating is a strong 9/10. I recommend visiting this wonderful place and enjoying a quiet dinner with family or friends.

I celebrated my birthday there. great atmosphere like a small winter village. Everything is very stylishly furnished. We had a separate room that was really nice. The drinks order came very quickly, as did the food. The food was mediocre. I had the meatloaf and it was very seasoned 👌👌👌. My son's spaghetti was world class 👍🏽. The food was sufficiently warm. Special praise goes to the great service staff who served us. Big praise also for the great advice. Prices are upscale. We'll definitely be back

Great restaurant on the summit of Vogelsberg, great location and great view over the region. A place to switch off and enjoy with good food and super friendly and attentive service! Definitely worth a visit!

Yesterday celebrated Christmas with 5 people: the existing parking lot was reserved for house guests, the public one on the street costs money or a ticket during the day and is in the dark at night. We are from the area and know the restaurant as one with a nice atmosphere and friendly service, albeit with Frankfurt prices. At first the store wasn't full, but later it was quite busy. Drinks were taken and served quite quickly; LeGurk non-alcoholic was very tasty, I find a bottle of water for €7.10 quite expensive. We could have ordered the food right away, but the gentleman left too quickly. At some point a bread bowl with about 7 pieces of bread and a dipping plate with horseradish butter (?) and lard arrived, which was very little for 5 people. The starters came to the table relatively quickly. My caramelized goat cheese on lamb's lettuce with walnuts was refrigerator cold, so the cheese tasted extremely bitchy, so I wanted to send it back (our waiter explained to us that it was cold, that's how it had to be, a service lady thought along and offered to have it Warming up cheese for me in the kitchen - I don't know any other way about goat cheese on salad; it gets 5* from me), we first had to ask about the walnuts, which were delivered later (three people with salad). It felt like half an hour passed before the main course, but then first the salads for the burger and cordon bleu arrived, then another very long time until the lady mentioned brought the four main courses to the table in two runs (the restaurant gives the impression that high-quality food is served here Quality and service are offered, then I expect a main course to be delivered to a table with as many service employees as necessary in one run, which deducts points for the service manager). When the main courses came, everything looked very good, then came the question of taste: my neighbor tried her meatloaf and almost dropped her fork, telling me to try it... I did and found the meatloaf with caraway seeds unusual, not bad, but completely oversalted . And I had a cold and could hardly taste anything! In comparison, my pasta with salmon had zero salt. The meatloaf was returned and cleared away without comment. No offer to bring anything else, no apology, still full price on the bill. The drinks supply went quite well, espresso and “small dessert” (affogato, espresso with vanilla ice cream) came relatively quickly. The bill came quite quickly upon request, since we paid separately, the waiter (restaurant manager as it turned out) brought the EC machine with him = very good). On the way out I asked for the bill and wanted to give the waiter some feedback: he introduced himself as the restaurant manager and said he was happy to accept criticism, but was just justifying himself; Regarding the meatloaf, that was "your taste", he and the chef tried some of the meatloaf that had been returned, it would have been just right and he would have had to order 30 of them because he liked eating it so much... so unfortunately it wasn't as capable of criticism as he made himself out to be. Until the very end, no offer to take the roast off the bill, a coffee or dessert on the house, nothing. My friend said, “You’ve lost me, I’m not coming back,” and his answer was “it’s a shame.” I didn't even get to my own points regarding the service. The 5* service lady may have noticed this in passing, when she reads here she explicitly stated that I was very satisfied with her. Conclusion: this time the anger over three starters and one main course has ensured that there are at least two bad reviews from locals who will no longer eat here but will switch to other, cheaper and just as tasty alternatives. Not to mention word of mouth...

Great atmosphere, you should only order caramelized goat cheese with walnuts if you don't want to eat walnuts. And you can only order the meatloaf if you want to be happy with the chef, who is obviously deeply in love. Luckily the service explained that we had bad taste and the dishes actually deserved an award. That's why it was a pleasure for us to have to pay the full bill. In summary: that was a shot in the culinary oven.

Great food and great atmosphere, not forgetting the countryside for hiking or walking.
