Wir waren hier zu Mittag zum Geburtstag essen und es war hervorragend. Tolle Gerichte, tolle Wochenkarte. 1A Ambiente und Service. Wir kommen wieder.😋😊👍🏻

Waren zum Abendessen im Restaurant. Sehr nette Atmosphäre, wirklich guter Service und sehr leckere Speisen. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war ok. Fazit: sehr empfehlenswert.

Tolles Restaurant, Ausgangspunkt für schöne Spaziergänge rund um den Hoherodskopf. Sehr aufmerksamer Service, sehr gutes Essen. Wir haben uns gut aufgenommen und sehr wohl gefühlt.

Tolles Ambiente und sehr gutes Essen. Auch wenn meine erste Bewertung 4 Jahre alt ist, hat sich nichts an der Qualität und dem professionellen Service geändert. Das Essen war sagenhaft und das Personal einfach nur gut! Bis zum nächsten Mal.

Ich habe auf der Taufsteinhütte eine Woche verbracht, um Rennrad und Mountainbike zu fahren.Das Essen und die Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten waren hervorragend und ich bin mit dem Service und der Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeiter sehr zufrieden gewesen. Ich habe mich wie zu Hause gefühlt und komme gern wieder !

Einfach ein tolles Erlebnis. Super Service und sehr freundliches Personal. Unsere Hütte war genial, wir kommen gerne wieder. Das Essen mit vielen regionalen Zutaten lohnt sich, das Frühstück ist abwechslungsreich.

Wir waren nur zum Mittagessen dort und es hat uns ganz toll gefallen. Ein wirklich schönes Ambiente, leckeres saisonales Essen und prima Service. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Und die Holzfässer und Hütten haben wir uns aus der Ferne auch angeschaut, das sah auch absolut einladend aus und werden wir demnächst mal buchen.

Sehr nette Leute und total leckeres Essen. Sind durch Zufall hier gelandet und sind wurden angenehm überrascht.

Zu meinem 40 Geburtstag wollten wir auf der Taufsteinhütte Mittagessen. Meine Frau hatte reserviert per Email und mitgeteilt das ein Geburtstagsessen geplant ist. Es gab schon Mal keinerlei Rückmeldung. Demzufolge wurde natürlich auch nichts vorbereitet. ( Gruß aus der Küche oder Ähnliches) „Das macht ein gutes Restaurant aus.“ Der Tisch wurde gezeigt und dann passiert eine halbe Stunde nichts. Essen und Getränke bestellt, dann? Lange nichts. Der Nachbartisch hatte ziemlich zeitgleich bestellt, bekamen ihr Essen vor den Getränken. Andere Familien die 20- 30 Minuten später gekommen sind, wurden bedient und das Essen war auch schneller da. Wir waren nun das 3 mal dort gewesen, das Essen war gut Temperatur könnte höher sein. Aufgrund des desolaten Service, werden wir nicht mehr kommen. Wenn man schon sieht, das die Angestellten Kunden fokussieren und andere ausblenden, kann man nicht von Service sprechen. Die Küche ist wirklich gut aber der Service ist eine bodenlose Unverschämtheit. In jeder Dönerbude wird man freundlicher und besser behandelt. Ich lasse Fehler immer zu aber man sollte doch dazu stehen wenn was schief gegangen ist. Es wird bedient als ob es unangenehm wäre, den Raum zu betreten wo die Kunden sitzen. Wir fühlten uns nicht erwünscht und es war unangenehm dort zu sitzen und um Aufmerksamkeit zu suchen um etwas zu bestellen. . Wir mussten dann selber nach vorne, ob wir dann mal bezahlen können. Die Dame fragt, ob man bar oder mit Karte bezahlen möchte. Wenn man mit Karte bezahlen möchte, muss die Dame natürlich zurück laufen, da diese nie das Lesegerät dabei hatte. Bei allen andern Kunden ist uns aufgefallen, das die Dame bei der Bezahlung nie das Kartenlesegerät dabei hatte und es immer separat geholt wurde. Was soll das? Man kann sowas mit an der Person führen. Ich möchte nichts unterstellen aber Bargeld ist natürlich immer besser. 😎😎 Es wurden keinerlei Getränke angeboten zwischendurch oder Nachspeise. Wir waren dort 1,5 Stunden es wurde an der Theke begrüßt, es wurde nach einem Getränk und Essen gefragt. Sehr viel potenzial aber der Service zerstört alles. Evtl. Gerne melden wenn der Service zum Essen passt, ansonsten geht an die Bude am Hoherodskopf und esst eine Wurst. Man wird hier ignoriert, obwohl man bereit ist Geld da zu lassen. Einfach nur frech was dort passiert. Das Essen war super lecker, die Küche kann nichts fürs den Service. 5 Sterne für das Essen 0 für den Service. Grüße an die Küche.

Wir waren "lediglich" im Restaurant zu Gast. Dies allerdings ließ KEINE Wünsche offen... Nicht nur das Ambiente war unglaublich angenehm und gemütlich - das Essen hatte absolute Spitzenqualität und war in seiner Vielfältigkeit und seiner Regionalität einfach perfekt. Die Weinkarte hat mich als Weinliebhaber sprachlos gemacht und sucht in der einheimischen Gastronomie seines Gleichen. Das Sahnehäubchen war allerdings - gemeinsam mit der exzellenten Küche - der großartige und ausgesprochen kompetente Service, der auch für "lukullische Rückfragen" jederzeit mit beeindruckenden Fachwissen und extrem gastfreundlich zur Verfügung stand. Getränkeempfehlungen bis ich im Laufe des Abends dann blind gefolgt - und zu keinem Zeitpunkt enttäuscht worden. Gesamturteil: Absolute Bestnoten. Wir kommen ganz sicher wieder und freuen uns schon heute auf die nächsten Geschmscksexplosionen. Danke an das gesamte Team!!!

Wir haben und rundum wohl gefühlt. Sehr schöne Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Tolle Lage, tolle Location, tolle Gegend. Tolle Bedienungen. Das Essen ist eine Katastrophe. Die gehobene Preisklasse passt nicht zur Qualität der Speisen. Das Essen wurde lauwarm serviert, der Salat war nicht mehr frisch und das Wiener Schnitzel doppelt paniert. Schade, wir werden nicht wieder kommen.

Wow! Hervorragende Küche! Wir haben uns das Karfreitags-5-Gänge-Fischmenü gegönnt. Stattlicher Preis, aber JEDEN Cent wert!! Es waren 5 fantastische Kreationen mit denen unsere Gaumen verwöhnt wurden! Dazu ein wundervolles Ambiente und ein sehr freundliches Servicepersonal. Dankeschön für den schönen Abend!

Bin heute erstmals zum Osterbuffet da gewesen. Das Ambiente ist nett,die Lokation liegt im Grünen. Parkplatz normalerweise kostenpflichtig,was ich etwas komisch finde. Der Service war präsent und bemüht, jedoch wohl überwiegend aus ungelernten Kräfte,die ein Tablett nicht einmal einhändig tragen konnten und das stumpf auf dem Tisch abgestellt hatten,um Getränke zu verteilen und Geschirr und Gläser mitzunehmen. Das geht besser. Jetzt zum eigentlich wichtigsten Punkt,das Essen. Die Karte hörte sich zunächst gut an. Letztendlich war ich aber komplett von Preis -/Leistung enttäuscht. Vorspeise begrenzt auf einer Etagiere, kleines Gläschen Krabben Cocktail,was für jeden am Tisch einen Teelöffel davon ergab. Einfaches Blätterteig Gebäck, dünn aufgeschnitten Rote Beete, gekochte Eier Hälfte mit Tupfer grüner Soße, Schafskäsewürfelchen. Baguette und ein eher langweiliger Kürbisdipp. Das war okay,aber für den Preis nicht das,was ich erwartet hätte. Das Buffet bestand aus Klassikern wie Hirschgulasch, gefüllte Hühnerbrust, pulled pork, Lamm, Kartoffelgratin, Kartoffelspalten, Standardgemüse, wässrige Spätzle, sehr bissfester Risotto Reis. Draußen gab es frisch gebackene Schnitzel. Der zudem angebotene "Edelfisch" stach dabei am Buffet als einzige Komponente positiv heraus. Dessert war total enttäuschend und nicht einmal in ausreichender Anzahl vorhanden. Langweilige Cremes Schoko und Gries, pana Cotta, Fruchtspieße. Letztere waren lieblos und wenig ansprechend dahin geklatscht. Alles in Allem war nix wirklich wertiges außergewöhnliches und das für immerhin 54 €, ohne Getränke. Nicht einmal ein Willkommensdrink,nix. Wenn ich für 54 € essen gehe, bekomme ich üblicherweise deutlich mehr geboten. Der Service Chef war sehr engagiert,aber das konnte die gesamte enttäuschende Erfahrung nicht ändern. Meinerseits leider keine Empfehlung. Es war höchstens "okay".

Landfrauen Frühstück mit Tim Frühling am Samstag, 28.03.2026! Ich war Teilnehmerin unter den 120 Landfrauen. Das angerichtete Frühstücksbüfett war vielfältig, ausreichend und sehr schmackhaft. Der Service aufmerksam und sehr freundlich und flott. Es waren sehr sehr schöne Stunden. Danke!

Wir waren gestern nach einiger Zeit wieder mal zum Essen auf der Taufsteinhütte. Ich liebe das Ambiente und alles drumherum. Kaum ein anderer versteht so viel vom Kochen wie Jürgen und sein Team ! Super freundlicher Service. Man fühlt sich immer willkommen. Mir tut das Personal leid, wenn man hört was die Tischnachbarn bestellen : Vegan , das Gewürz nicht , Laktose und glutenfrei..... Ich würde als Koch eskalieren. Ich kann nicht eine schlechte Bewertung nachvollziehen. Die Wein und Whiskyauswahl kann sich sehen lassen. Für regionale Produkte zahle ich gerne mehr. Seeeeehr empfehnswert!

Waren dort schon mehrfach zum Brunch und wandern , wunderbare Gegend mit vielen Aktivitätsmöglichkeiten und toller Aussicht und Landschaft

Wir hatten so eine tolle Zeit dort! Nach einer Wanderung sind wir im Biergarten der Taufsteinhütte eingekehrt. Einen so herzlichen und liebevollen Umgang mit unserem Hund durch das Personal habe ich selten erlebt. Generell war das Personal super freundlich und das Essen wirklich phänomenal! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Ganz große Empfehlung!

Leckere Gericht: Veggiburger, Lammbraten, Regenbogenforelle

Wir hatten eine Nacht im Fass mit Abendessen und darauffolgenden Morgen ein reichliches Frühstück. Wir waren mit allem sehr zufrieden. Zwar hat das Wetter nicht so mitgespielt, aber trotzdem war es eine tolle Erfahrung und wir kommen bestimmt noch einmal.

Mega gutes und vor allem selbst gemachtes Essen! Da stimmt das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis auf alle Fälle. Super schneller und kompetenter Service. Wir kommen immer wieder gerne!

Grundsätzlich muss ich sagen war die Taufsteinhütte zu empfehlen. Ich war schon einige Male dort, ob in dem Fässern im DZ oder im Apartment und bisher war es immer top. Doch diesmal haben wir ein nicht gesäubertes Apartment vorgefunden. Das heißt Bad und Schlafzimmer war noch vom Vorbesucher sichtbar hinterlassen. Nach Info an der Rezeption gab es nur ein Lachen und das sich darum gekümmert wird. Ich bin dann erneut an die Rezeption und anstatt sich für die Unannehmlichkeit zu entschuldigen, gab es nur "komisch sollte eigentlich nicht so sein" und wurde belächelt. Ich muss sagen, das darf nicht passieren. Ein Gast der für ein Übernachtung bezahlt, sollte immer das Gefühl haben, der Erste zu sein der das Apartment betritt. So war der Wohlfühlfaktor dahin. Restaurant ist top, die Bedienungen freundlich. Organisation des Buchungssystems Katastrophe. Beim Bezahlen wurde mir mitgeteilt das noch was aus 2024 offen wäre und ob ich mich erinnern kann ob ich mit Karte oder bar bezahlt habe. Was soll ich sagen, hatte dem Aufenthalt diesmal unschön abgerundet. Wir hatten aber Schnee und haben die wunderschöne Umgebung sehr genossen.

Dies ist unser zweites Weihnachtsessen in diesem Restaurant. Die Speisen sind von hoher Qualität und die Reservierung unkompliziert. Das Ambiente ist toll und gemütlich, und der Service war exzellent. Dieses Jahr habe ich das vegetarische Menü probiert, ein Drei-Gänge-Menü für 51 Euro. Das Hirsch-Gulasch war ebenfalls sehr lecker. Es gibt auch Fünf-Gänge-Menüs. Das Restaurant war wunderschön dekoriert und bot die perfekte, gemütliche Weihnachtsatmosphäre am Kamin. Das Rumpsteak ist ebenfalls fantastisch, und die Pastrami-Vorspeise war ein gelungener Auftakt.

Ein mein liblings Plätze. Eine nette Ambiente für Famillien und Freunde.Kinder und tiere freundlich.. Kan kann nur empfelen. Das essen köstlich mit viel auswahl.

Hervorragender Besuch! Mit Baby (1J.), großem Hund und insgesamt 6 Erwachsenen wurde für uns perfekt der passende Platz reserviert. Der Service war außergewöhnlich aufmerksam und seeehr höflich: Der Hund wurde direkt mitversorgt, und man bot uns von sich aus an, das Essen für das Baby bereits früher zu bringen, damit die Stimmung nicht kippt. Es war bei unserem Besuch extrem viel los, weshalb die Küche und der Service gut zu tun hatten. Beim Monatsmenü mit Weinbegleitung wurde zwar der erste Wein vergessen, aber der Umgang damit war vorbildlich: ein großzügiger Nachschlag, später ein Schnaps und ein zusätzlicher Wein als Entschuldigung sowie sogar der erste Gang ein zweites Mal, damit der Wein passend zum Essen genossen werden konnte. Preislich völlig angemessen, Qualität und vor allem Geschmack waren bei allen 6 Personen extrem gut. Wir kommen definitiv wieder – zwei von uns waren ohnehin schon öfter hier. Könnte ich mehr als 5 Sterne geben, würde ich es auch machen.

Wir sind oft hier und jedes Mal top zufrieden. Super Essen, freundlicher Service, gemütliche Atmosphäre. Klare Empfehlung.

Entscheidet euch doch bitte ob Hunde erlaubt sind oder nicht. Es ist komplett intransparent für den Gast.

+ Schöne Fässer, bequeme Betten und wunderschön abgelegen gelegen am Hoherodskopf am Waldrand Heizung hat richtig gut funktioniert, es war wohlig warm! - die Fasstoiletten waren nach nicht mal einem Abend so verdreckt, dass wir nur noch eine sinnvoll nutzen konnten ein Waldtier (Igel? Maus?) hatte sich wohl in der Zwischenwand des Fasses eingenistet und fast die ganze Nacht Lärm gemacht, wir konnten nur 3 Stunden schlafen. Als wir freundlich auf die Tatsache hingewiesen haben, wurde uns nur fröhlich entgegnet, dass das ja normal sei. Das finde ich keinen guten Service – es gibt durchaus Möglichkeiten, so etwas zu vermeiden. Zumindest ein Hinweis im Vorhinein wäre auch hilfreich gewesen. das Frühstück war lecker, aber die Auswahl für den Preis für uns wirklich zu klein. Das Ambiente im Frühstücksraum war aber schön. Trotzdem rechtfertigt die Leistung nicht den Preis Leider war wohl Feuerwerk auf dem Gelände erlaubt, wodurch die anderen Gäste vor unserem Fass 30 Minuten einiges in die Luft schossen. Das fanden wir störend und schade, da wir uns bewusst für ein Silvester in der Natur entschieden haben. Wenn es auf dem Parkplatz gewesen und die Wände schalldicht gewesen wären, wäre das noch in Ordnung gewesen. Aber so haben die Gäste alle herumliegenden Fässer gestört – einige Gäste aus anderen Fässern waren ebenfalls zeitig ins Bett gegangen. Fazit: Einmal in einem Fass übernachtet und es bis auf die Nacht genossen, aber wir werden diesen Aufenthalt leider nicht wiederholen.

Spontan entschieden nach langen Jahren wieder einmal Gast in der Taufsteinhütte zu sein. Es war der zweite Weihnachtsfeiertag 2025. Risiko ausgeschlossen und schnell noch einen Tisch bestellt. Das war gut so!!! Bei strahlendem Sonnenschein herrschte bei unserer ( wir waren zu dritt) Ankunft Hochbetrieb! Die Entscheidung bei der Wahl der Speisen fiel uns leicht. Gab es doch lediglich ( wie auch angekündigt) 2 Menüs zur Auswahl. 5 Gänge zu € 89.- 3 Gänge zu € 59.- Wir entschieden uns für das 3 Gang Menü weil dieses auch für Vegetarier- und das sind wir - angeboten wurde. Fazit - Lokation 5 Sterne Speisen (Preis / Leistung passt) 5 Sterne. Personal und Service - da fielen uns zwei junge Frauen auf Laureen und Frieda. Beide haben hoch konzentriert und professionell gearbeitet. Dabei waren Sie schnell, zuvorkommend,freundlich und kundenorientiert. Kompliment! Wir hatten eine sehr gemütliche und entspannte Nacht! Es war total schön mit sehr viel Liebe gestaltet. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und das Personal war sehr freundlich! Wir werden wieder kommen!

Bedienung sehr freundlich tolles essen

I received a friendly welcome. Although the kitchen was still closed and the service was blocked, the chef brought me something to eat. It tasted very good: beef brisket with savoy cabbage and boiled potatoes. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture. I can't comment on the rooms. The price-performance ratio is good. I will definitely come back again.

We stayed overnight in the barrels. I'd been to the restaurant a few years ago, and the food and the restaurant itself were already very nice. Years later, I can still say the same. It was simply wonderful. The service was very friendly, the food was fantastic, and the barrels were spotlessly clean. So we're already booking for next year. I can only recommend that everyone eat here and stay overnight.

We're very conflicted. The four of us had dinner at the restaurant at the end of October and were absolutely thrilled with the food, service, and atmosphere. Based on this fantastic experience, we booked the breakfast buffet at the Vulkanhütte (Volcano Hut) that same evening... and now we're really disappointed. It was incredibly cramped, and the breakfast buffet selection was like anything you'd find in an all-inclusive restaurant – nothing special or exceptional. For that reason, we felt the price of €29 per person was exorbitant. Unfortunately, the platters were often empty, and while they were refilled, it was quite late. To make matters worse, we didn't have a good table; we were seated right by the entrance, so every guest who came in stopped directly in front of us to greet other guests or the staff. What also bothered me personally was that dogs of all sizes were able to squeeze into the cramped hut. It's not pleasant when a large dog has to stare at your full plate. We certainly won't be coming back for breakfast.

We ate at the Taufstein Hut. The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent. The price was commensurate with the quality and service. Despite the large number of guests, the staff was very friendly, and our requests were fulfilled very quickly.

We spontaneously decided to visit the Taufstein Hut on a beautiful winter day. We were lucky and got a table for two without a wait! That was really great – but I think it's more sensible to reserve in advance. Not all spontaneous hikers were so lucky! The food was excellent! We had the burger and the meatloaf, and both were delicious! The atmosphere was very cozy and the fireplace made it nice and warm. The service was very friendly! The food took a little while, but that wasn't a problem at all, and you have to remember that the restaurant was very busy.

We ate at the restaurant for the first time yesterday. The server was very friendly and attentive, but unfortunately, she was only responsible for taking orders and handling payments. The other staff members were more preoccupied with having a loud and disruptive time in a side room. As a result, they forgot to clear the appetizers, which made serving the main courses a problem. The beef broth was served lukewarm, and the non-alcoholic shandy was warm. The main course (boiled beef) was good, but the potatoes required considerable skill to cut, otherwise they would have fallen off the plate. The skin was too tough (this forms when cooked potatoes sit for a long time). For the price, the only positive thing is the very nice ambiance. I expected much more...

Unfortunately, I can only rate this restaurant as average. For the prices charged, the quality is far too low. The ambiance is easily worthy of 5 stars, but the food and service are anything but. Before you're shown to your table, several servers walk past you without giving you any attention whatsoever, not even a "Good evening," "Hello," or anything similar. But now to the food. The "shrimp in herb butter" turned out to be shrimp in a mixture of onion, mushrooms, and a little bit of other vegetables, in a sauce with curry as the dominant flavor. The temperature left much to be desired, the taste was good, but the dish bore no resemblance to its description on the menu. I certainly wouldn't have ordered it that way. The main course was a venison goulash with spaetzle, red cabbage, and a dollop of lingonberry jam. This dish, too, was not exactly piping hot. The goulash tasted good, but consisted almost entirely of meat fibers with a few small pieces of meat. So, unfortunately, it was overcooked. The red cabbage was a homeopathic dose, about the size of a scoop of ice cream. As with the meat, it tasted good, but was overcooked. The dessert, a sampler of desserts, was by far the best course. Several blunders by the staff, such as forgetting drinks and trying to serve food before the table had been cleared, completed the overall negative impression. Additionally, friends, acquaintances, or colleagues were sitting loudly in an adjoining room, their children practically screaming the house down, and the door to this room was left open so that the guests could also hear the noise. The price-performance ratio was extremely disproportionate that evening. Furthermore, there was no parking lot lighting. Without a flashlight, you're literally standing there in the dark during the winter months. All in all, I cannot recommend this restaurant in any way.

We regularly eat at the Taufsteinhütte and are always thrilled. The atmosphere and service are fantastic. Many thanks to the whole team!

It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

We stopped in today at 1:15 pm and had an absolutely fantastic meal. The service was top-notch. We'll be back!

The staff are very nice good mountain bike route

We don't understand some of the negative reviews and agree with the positive ones. We received a very friendly welcome. Luckily, I had a reservation, and the assigned table was perfect. The menu arrived promptly, and drinks were taken. The ambiance was rustic and of high quality. The service was prompt and extremely friendly. We even got a glimpse into how the salad dressing is made, thank you for that. The appetizer and main course were a delight. Finally, there was one negative point, for which the restaurant is absolutely not responsible. Three people were seated at the next table, both of whom had two dogs with them. The large one smelled extremely unpleasant. Luckily, we had finished our meals and were able to escape by paying and leaving. We felt sorry for the people at the next table who were still having their main courses and were quietly upset about it but didn't say anything. As I wrote, the excellent service was innocent of the situation.

Great atmosphere and excellent food!

We spent a wonderful evening staying overnight at the Taufsteinhütte. A very cozy and well-kept atmosphere, friendly, competent service staff, and, of course, excellent food! An exceptional overnight experience at the "Wiesenhütte." The breakfast the next morning also left nothing to be desired. We're already planning our next visit.

The best veggie burger I've ever eaten ❤️ and the fantastic organic meatloaf. Franzi's service was super friendly and engaging. Definitely a clear recommendation.

From the very beginning, it was a wonderful and very personal experience. From the initial telephone contact (with Ms. Sachs), through the duration of my stay (restaurant and overnight stay), to the farewell, I felt welcome and really well-cared for. Spending the night in the barrel is really fun and has a bit of an adventure feel to it, especially when there are gusts of 80 km/h at night and it's raining sideways. The barrel is cozy and equipped with a nice thick blanket and pillow. The sanitary barrels are well-equipped, with a shower, toilet, large mirror, etc. The restaurant is rightly highly praised. I had the Taufsteinburger, absolutely amazing, with sweet potato. All the guests at the neighboring tables were also very satisfied. Great view I was at the Taufsteinhütte as a guest at a wedding reception. The reception took place at the Vulkanhütte. The Vulkanhütte was a fantastic location for the reception. The facilities were fantastic. The service staff was super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, and the selection was very good. It made for a fantastic celebration. Thanks to the Taufsteinhütte team!

I have no idea what's going on with this restaurant, but they should either hire more staff or offer fewer seats. We waited over an hour for our food, and our children are already very impatient. This is the first and last time I'll eat here. Respectfully, after asking twice where our food was, it was served 20 minutes later. There was a long black hair in the food. The children's meal we ordered was missing a salad. The kitchen and service department were completely overwhelmed.

Special requests, such as those for celiac disease, were accommodated immediately – even gluten-free bread was provided. Drinks and food arrived quickly, and the welcome from the kitchen was a lovely surprise. The food was excellent: the spinach dumplings were delicious, and the house-made vegetarian burger was a real highlight, absolutely worth the price. Despite a wedding taking place at the same time, the service in the restaurant was impeccable. An all-round successful visit – we'd love to come back!

The restaurant offers a very good selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. The attentive service is particularly noteworthy: As soon as we mentioned that someone in our group had to eat gluten-free, a special gluten-free greeting appeared from the kitchen. The fact that the team also knows the difference between celiac disease and gluten intolerance, which is not a given, is an extra big plus. The main course also catered to our needs with great attention: While there was no gluten-free burger bun, the kitchen simply lovingly served the burger between two slices of gluten-free white bread – very attentive! Overall, the guests were treated with extreme hospitality and courtesy. Even a large wedding party didn't disrupt the service or cause long waits. Add to that the delicious food – absolutely recommended!

Having to wait a very long time for food

We ate at the restaurant. Online reservation was easy, and a reminder email was sent – ​​perfect. The atmosphere was cozy, but unfortunately, we couldn't sit outside due to the weather. The food was very tasty and of good quality, and there was more than enough food – we were delighted. The service staff were very friendly and attentive.

A dreamy place and warm staff. My first impression was, "Oh, it's so beautiful here," and that feeling stayed with me until the very last moment. Even the kitchen knows exactly what it's doing; the service and food fully fall into the "upscale" category. But the highlight was the overnight stay in the meadow hut, a bit secluded from the other guests, where you had your own space. We will definitely be back and want to experience and enjoy it again.

Incredibly special location ❣️ We just spent/enjoyed an overnight stay in Barrel No. 7, including breakfast. We found the sleeping barrel very special and romantically cozy. Sure, it's small, but that's also what makes it so special. Everything in the barrel village is well thought out, and the toilet and shower barrels are super hygienically clean, have sizzling hot water, and fantastic water pressure. This pleasantly surprised me, considering the altitude of the complex (700 m above sea level). We had a wonderfully delicious dinner in the adjoining restaurant! It was truly a dream, both in terms of food and service! Breakfast the next morning exceeded our expectations: EVERYTHING was there, from salmon to various types of eggs, various breads/rolls, various jams, etc. The delicious salami slices were folded into very decorative "roses," which were a bit difficult to take apart, though. Overall: PERFECT An absolute five-star recommendation for this special location ❣️

Unfortunately, there's incredible noise from the youth hostel next door. It wasn't until 2:30 a.m., as a room guest, that I realized, and called the police, that this couldn't be permitted/normal. Given today's overnight prices, it would be expected that there would be a precautionary measure after 10 p.m. due to noise pollution from the Taufsteinhütte. Very annoying, as this is certainly not the first time, and the staff on site probably noticed it earlier...

I hadn't heard of the Taufsteinhütte before, as we're not even remotely from the area. We were invited to a wedding and were thrilled. The service was very attentive and incredibly friendly :) One waiter in particular was incredibly nice and fulfilled our every wish. We were able to try a wide variety of food... various appetizers, several main courses, desserts, cakes, and so on. EVERYTHING was delicious! The location was a dream. The interior of the hut was rustic but very elegantly decorated. Our apartment there was also very, very nice! Everything was very high-quality, made of natural materials. The pictures don't do it justice. The breakfast was good, but I expected more. The selection was rather limited.

We went to the Taufsteinhütte for dinner today. The location and ambiance are very nice and cozy. The reservation via the website worked perfectly. The service and staff were all very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. The value for money is absolutely reasonable. We would be happy to come back and would happily recommend the Taufsteinhütte.

This place and the food have attracted us several times, so we went there two weeks ago – unfortunately. The staff had an internal dispute to resolve, which apparently involved the owner/boss. Wrong food, bad-tempered service, while we were eating, a server was loudly setting the tables next to us – and even after we asked her to do it later, she asked the boss, came back, and just carried on – as a guest here, you feel like a nuisance. After that, no one else came. We then paid at the reception, which was only possible after repeated requests – because the boss and the staff were arguing – unbelievable. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time it's happened – we once left after 25 minutes because we weren't served. The food is very good – whether it was game or fish – simply fantastic. It just seems the boss doesn't manage his staff properly… 👎

We went there with a large group after making a reservation for Sunday lunch. The food was okay, but definitely not worth the price. On the other hand, the service was abysmal. We waited over 30 minutes for our drinks to even arrive. After serving, no staff were seen again. None of our group was even asked if they wanted anything else to drink. Our plates weren't cleared away until the end. We also had to pay at reception because no staff showed up. By the way, we found it unbearable that we had to buy a parking ticket because parking was only permitted for overnight guests. The on-site parking lot was almost empty.

Four of us ate there. Everything was perfect! The service was particularly outstanding (David and a blond waiter with glasses, whose name we unfortunately don't have, were simply fantastic!). I highly recommend it to everyone.

Beautiful location and decoration of the venue, but the food was really disappointing. Very poor quality - the parmesan was inedible on my starter it was so old and chewy - and ignored allergies notified to the kitchen and nearly made me serious unwell but simply “scraping off” the contaminated parts of my fish and re-serving. Really shocking behaviour in a place that is supposed to be high quality - and the price is very high so you would expect this too. The only thing that saved the place was the very friendly and helpful waiting staff.

We went to the restaurant at the Taufstein Hut. It's not suitable for walkers or wheelchairs. The paths are gravel. The food and price were reasonable for a hut.

An overnight stay in a treehouse barrel was an experience. Beautiful surroundings, a delicious breakfast, and dinner in the restaurant was equally excellent. I particularly like the service of a young man who repaired the barrel door, which wouldn't lock, and also provided attentive service at our dinner – thank you again for that.

A place full of memories – with minor flaws I remember the restaurant from my childhood, back when it was run by the Bender family. It was an integral part of my life for many decades, which made it all the more enjoyable to be there again – this time with a larger group on the terrace, at a very nice table. The service was truly excellent: very friendly, attentive, and courteous. The food, however, was unfortunately inconsistent. Some main courses were outstanding, others rather disappointing. My salad plate with a fine fish combination was unfortunately dry, even a bit burnt around the edges. The salad was mushy, and the advertised oyster mushrooms were missing – but were served upon request (in three small pieces). Here, you get the feeling that several chefs are working in the kitchen. The ambiance outside is still very nice. Previously, under the new owner, the interior featured works by the regional artist Paul-Eduard Pfisterer, which wonderfully matched the style of the restaurant. He focuses on the landscape and people of the region (Voglesberg), capturing them impressively and picturesquely in oil paints. These have since been replaced, unfortunately with paintings that, in my opinion, don't match the charm and atmosphere of the restaurant. Nevertheless, the visit remains a positive memory thanks to the excellent service and the nostalgic atmosphere.

Not good at all, although the ambiance and location are very nice. Worst bouillabaisse ever: about 150 ml of brown sauce, similar to goulash soup, lacking a great fish flavor, studded with shrimp and pieces of fish, some of which tasted of freshwater fish, and no rouille: It had absolutely nothing to do with a genuine southern French soup. A disaster in terms of taste – for 18 euros. The salad dressing was a kind of tomato sauce that tasted strongly of stock and drowned the salad. The cordon bleu was OK. The crème brûlée had the consistency and taste of scrambled egg, with no creaminess. The service was completely uncoordinated and arrogant. We had to wait a long time for our drinks each time. Addressing the (even older) guests informally by the consistently young staff seems to be the order of the day here, culminating in the card payment process: "If you want to leave a tip, you can enter it here or press no." ``` Far from fine dining and good service—but at the top end of the price range. What a shame!

Bad: Prices aren't displayed anywhere, and no one needs to tell you; you can always ask. It should be on the menu, and the staff gave the impression that they didn't care.

We went there for breakfast. Despite having a reservation, the location wasn't clear. A high chair wasn't available at first, despite having requested one in advance, so we went and got one ourselves. The breakfast itself was good and varied. The restaurant was very loud and crowded. The tables were extremely close together.

What a super nice experience! We spent the night in a barrel, ate in the restaurant in the evening and had breakfast in the morning. Everything was wonderful, the barrel in the tree was so cozy and a special experience. Despite the temperatures being very cool at night, it was totally uncomfortable. The dinner was very good, although expensive. The breakfast also left nothing to be desired. In addition, the service was very friendly and child-friendly. We'll definitely be back!

It's a shame - great wooden ambience - food is okay - service and organization are uniquely bad - total overwhelm! We were 6 people for dinner with a reservation. After taking the drinks, we were grandly promised that we should give the counter 2 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Unfortunately it ended up being 30 minutes. We wanted to place our food order straight away, but it wasn't taken. For this she was accepted at the next table, but they came after us. After taking the order, the waiter / waiter / restaurant manager first went to the kitchen, but came back to the table after 2-3 minutes, apologized because he had pressed the wrong button when sending the order to the kitchen and the order was therefore canceled. So we had to order again. After what felt like an hour we asked if we should leave again, but no - two meals came - the two starters. After these had been eaten, the first two plates of the main course arrived after another break. These were half eaten, then the next 2 plates came - after another break then the remaining 2 plates. So everything is very comfortable and harmonious. When we complained, they argued that everything was cooked fresh and that no one had ever starved to death. The neighboring table was served before us - even though they came later - (it was perhaps a little easier because there were only 3 people). When paying, the customer-unfriendly argument was again made that it wasn't a whole hour, but only three quarters of an hour... an unpleasant discussion that we will avoid in the future by saying that this was a one-off experience and we simply won't go there again. So: Organization, service and customer friendliness: FALSE!

We had the forest hut and were very excited. You can walk the high-altitude hiking trail here (takes about 2 hours) and is suitable for everyone, including older people. We had half board: dinner and breakfast - both were delicious. Food, staff, hut and service were simply great! Gladly again.

We stayed in the cozy barrel for two nights. The first dinner (half board) was great. We had a choice of three main courses (vegetarian options). Super delicious three-course menu. Very pleasant and warm atmosphere, especially due to the great service. We expected more from breakfast on Saturday and were pleasantly surprised on Sunday. For the second dinner we sat in another room with different service staff. Unfortunately, everything went very slowly here and we had to wait quite a bit (>30 minutes) for the first drinks and the individual dishes. Like the night before, these were very tasty and the portion was more than enough. There are many hiking trails so it doesn't get boring during the day.

Planned for a long time, our wish of “spending the night in a wine barrel” finally came true. There is something very special about spending the night in a wine barrel, simply cozy, romantic, close to nature! The first dinner was fantastic, excellent service, great food and a feel-good atmosphere that left nothing to be desired. The breakfast the next morning continued on from the previous evening and once again shone with great service and a rich buffet where everyone could find what they were looking for, once again in a great ambience, with a view of the Hoherodskopf. The location alone guarantees a wonderful stay, which we enjoyed very much. We would like to say thank you very much for allowing us to be guests and we look forward to coming back.
