Viet Rice in Berlin

Update Oct 2025: We've been back regularly to our super friendly, super quality and super value for money Vietnamese. Whenever the extended family gets together we go out for sushi. Our sushi platter was to die for and was the best quality we've had, we demolished it all rather quickly, it was irresistible! [2 years ago] We had a lovely meal with friends here to end our working week. We have been waiting for months for this to open, so we had high expectations and our new Viet Rice restaurant scored 10 out of 10 for everything. The food was amazing as all our meals and starters were perfectly prepared, arrived fast and were hot, fresh and tasty. The service was fun and friendly, plus the prices gave value for money. The atmosphere inside is complemented with the decor. We all noted the meals that we had as we intend to be regulars and try everything on the menu. Looking forward to our next visit.

I was on a business trip, and this place happened to be close to my office. The restaurant was beautiful and atmospheric, the service friendly, and the food fantastic. I ate there three times and tried something different each time. I left feeling full each time. The teriyaki beef was very good, as was the sushi – it was my first time eating fried sushi, but it was delicious. I also had noodles with peanuts and beef. However, I couldn't find their steamed dumplings on the menu. I think the restaurant should have an English menu, as quite a few foreigners eat there. Every time I went, I heard people speaking English.

The sushi was delicious, and the sake afterward was on the house. Prices are fair, I'd gladly go again.

Viet Rice is a modern asian style restaurant with good options for asian cuisine and sushi. Food and service are excellent. Ambient is beautiful. Cash and card payment is possible. I can recommend the side dishes spring rolls and gyoza. Furthermore I can recommend the mains blue fin tuna and teriyaki duck, both very delicious. Staff is helpful and friendly. Will be back for different lunch offers and the sushi.

I dined here two evenings, and both times I had no problem getting a seat. The restaurant is quietly located on the Berlin-Spandau shipping canal and impresses with its excellent food and friendly service. I'd love to go back!

Everything was amazing, we have found our new favourite place in the neighbourhood and will definitely visit often. I can recommend it to everyone. Thank you for the delicious food and fast service with care. That one star review is ridiculous and suspicious, food was super delicious and super fresh, tasty and crispy. And my stomach is extremely sensitive. I ordered a Pho Bo with beef, and shared some sushi with others. Everyone was very satisfied.

The portion was big. It was quite good, but the chicken was not fresh.

The sushi is delicious, especially the breaded sushi rolls and the ones with flambéed tuna are among my favorites. Highly recommended!

Our best Asian experience in Berlin! Very friendly welcome, and good service. Everyone in the group was very happy with their dishes - rice dishes, noodle dishes and sushi. Good prices - especially in relation to what we got! Good toilets. Next time we are in Berlin we will be happy to try this restaurant again.

We had pho and sushi and were very satisfied. The staff and the atmosphere are also great. I always enjoy coming back.

We were there as a large group and had reserved tables. That worked out well. However, the seats by the large window were very cold. The food for three of the almost 30 guests was forgotten, and they had to reorder. In the end, the first few had already finished just as the last ones were starting. The service was friendly. The food was okay, but nothing more. The same goes for the ambiance. I can imagine it being quite nice in the summer, even if they have outdoor seating.

Unfortunately the place is a scam with very poor food quality. I ordered tofu summer rolls and chicken curry, however, i ended up being served shrimp summer rolls and deep-fried chicken curry instead. Both items, apart from being not what I ordered, coincidentally also turned out to be more expensive. The summer rolls tasted like nothing and were falling apart. The deep-fried chicken curry was truly sad: despite the curry sauce and veggies being quite yummy, there was barely any chicken in it, mostly just breading. The concept of the place is also quite weird: they position themselves as a Vietnamese restaurant, however, Vietnamese dishes make up 10% of the menu at most, the rest is sushi. All in all, definitely wouldn’t recommend this one.

The food is unfortunately bland

I'm really excited! The food was incredibly tasty, I had a dish with tender chicken breast fillet, fresh vegetables and a creamy, slightly spicy curry sauce, served with fragrant rice. We also ordered mini rolls with both chicken and vegetarian, both versions were fresh, crispy and very tasty. The ginger tea was also very refreshing. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was friendly. I'll definitely come back :)

We had dinner here on our day of arrival and it was a pleasant experience with well prepared and good tasting food. We came back to days later for seconds. The Tom ka kha soup is great. Vegetables with the fried rice were fresh and tasty. Friendly staff too.

Nice food - though I did struggle to order sushi from German only menu! (Thanks ChatGPT!). Christy chicken curry was yummy. Service was good (not much English but I like the challenge). Four stars instead of five just because it was very quiet and lacked atmosphere

The restaurant is so relaxing, you sit down and feel comfortable. Great environment in a brand new place in the middle of the city on the water. There is an ice cream parlor next to it, great for a walk.

The Pho was delicious, and the service was spectacular. I would highly recommend it.

We tried a lot of things. But the best dish is fried rice with shrimp. I recommend it. I would eat it every other day. Very tasty. The other dishes were ordinary. The soup was warmed up, which was given away by the appearance of the soup. It did not look very appetizing. The summer rolls were bland. The gyosos were too fried, but still tasty. The interior was nice. The toilet was very clean. I would come back again for fried rice and try sushi.

We were here for the second time today and would love to come back. The food tastes excellent. The service is excellent. We can highly recommend everything.

For me it's really one of the best Asian restaurants. The sushi quality is outstanding and the price performance is great despite the location! One advantage is that you can sit outside in the summer and it is still quiet. All employees are always very friendly and attentive.

It was the worst restaurant I've been to recently. I usually leave a tip at every restaurant, but I didn't give one here. The noodles were slightly puffy, but I understand that because some restaurants serve it that way. And I asked for Thai chili, and it came out exactly as in the photo. There was oil and strange foreign substances around the chili. After receiving the chili, I wondered if all the food I ate was hygienic... This was the worst restaurant I’ve been to recently. I usually leave a tip at almost every restaurant, but I didn’t this time. The noodles were a bit overcooked, but I understand that some places serve them that way. I also specifically asked for Thai chili, and it came out exactly like in the picture… There was oil and some strange debris around the chili. After seeing it, I started wondering if the hygiene of everything I ate was okay…

We had the 3 courses (vegetarian spring rolls / crispy chicken in peanut sauce / baked banana with vanilla ice cream) including a cocktail. It was all very tasty and a lot. The individual courses came a little quickly, you could have taken a little more time here. The restaurant is clean, modern and the staff is very friendly.

I went to try and use a Groupon voucher. You have to book in advance, but I called the day before and couldn't get any sense out of them. I went at approximately 1300 on Tuesday and at first the man at the cash desk tried to send me away, telling me to come back after 1500. I managed to speak to a lady who told me to take a seat and she would accept my voucher. I waited over 20 minutes before anyone came over to me. They asked if I was ready to order, but they hadn't given me a menu! Thankfully I'd checked on line and ordered 2 cocktails as per my Groupon voucher. It took a good 15 minutes for the first cocktail to come out and a further 15 minutes for the second. By the time it arrived, I had to practically down it in one as I had a prior engagement and didn't realise it was going to take a whole hour to get served 2 drinks. The lady photographed my voucher and I got on my way. The food did look tasty, however, but the service seemed very chaotic.

New Year's Eve, so we looked for a restaurant that would definitely be open. Google Maps showed that various restaurants had different opening hours, but that was not the case at Viet Rice. So we were hopeful. Reservations were possible, our hopes were strengthened. And when we received both confirmation and a reminder of the reservation, we were convinced that we had found our restaurant. When we arrived at the location, the restaurant turned out to be closed. Very careless and unfortunate for us. Bad revive to the customer!

We were there to celebrate my father's birthday. There was a fixed three-course menu, which my father chose. We, two people, arrived 5 minutes later. Upon arrival, we were not greeted by the staff. Both waiters sat bored on chairs and didn't look at us, but were playing on their cell phones. The restaurant was completely empty on a Saturday evening, which is unusual. When we arrived at the table, my parents were already seated and their food and drinks had already been served. Ours were on a tray at the next table. My father mentioned that we would come a little later. No waitress came to serve us food. After 5 minutes, we helped ourselves. The spring rolls were ready-made from the supermarket, not homemade or fresh. While we were still eating, the main course was already served. This tasted ok. The same game with the dessert - we still eat, the dessert is served and just slapped down. We are not asked if we want something more to drink, etc. You got the feeling that they just wanted to get rid of you and process you as quickly as possible. The cutlery for the dessert was forgotten, none of the waiters even looked over, my husband went to the waitress. The waiter just points at the cutlery tray, so my husband had to get the cutlery himself. Ordering further drinks was only done after we had to go to the bar ourselves. The crowning achievement at the end was that a drink was not labeled so that it could be enjoyed Waiter can pocket the tip. A really bad shop with very bad and loveless service! What a shame!

The selection of food is plentiful, everything was very fresh, crunchy and tasty, we didn't have to wait long, but the restaurant wasn't particularly full either. It all started with a very unproblematic reservation. Everything worked out, and when we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted very warmly and were allowed to choose a seat. After a very short wait we were warmly served and the drinks came out very quickly. The landlord was relaxed, joked with us, and our food arrived not long later. We ordered edamame, where we got a very generous portion for €3.70. The teriyaki chicken was also very tasty and great value for money. Overall we had a wonderful experience, and when I'm back in Berlin I'll definitely stop by again. Thank you for everything!

Newly furnished restaurant. Clean and tidy. Freshly cut vegetables! There was little going on on Sunday. We were all alone in the restaurant. But we had peace and quiet on our wedding day. 🤗
