After being so thrilled with our New Year's Eve 2024 dinner at the restaurant and the multi-course meal, we booked again for three people for New Year's Eve 2025 (yesterday). To be clear, we're not usually complainers, but the food was unacceptable. Starter: The sweet potato was still hard for two people, mushy inside for one, and the entire course lacked seasoning. Intermediate course: A fancy name for it was "Duck Duet." It consisted of two overly hard filled ravioli with duck forcemeat, I assume, and an unidentifiable reddish-brown broth with absolutely no flavor (it seems quite a few guests had the same experience, as many tureens were returned half full). Second intermediate course: Two preparations of Arctic char with pointed cabbage. The fish was well-fried, the pointed cabbage again completely unseasoned, and the broth once more indefinable (what exactly constituted the two preparations of char in this dish remains a mystery to me/us; it must have been the tasteless broth). Main course: Veal fillet with coffee, carrot, and herb spaetzle: My wife had the misfortune of getting the flat end piece of the fillet, which was, of course, cooked through and only half the size of the other two pieces on our plates. The herb spaetzle were cold and unsalted (a complaint also made at the next table). The dollop of sauce could have been omitted entirely; it was far too little for the amount of spaetzle. After 15 minutes, more sauce was brought out (apparently, several guests had complained), but by then the spaetzle were ice-cold. We don't like overcooked vegetables, but the carrots were still very firm to the bite, some of them almost impossible to cut with a knife. The sauce was cold and unsalted (a complaint also made at the next table). Dessert: Nougat cake with hazelnut ice cream and mulled wine sauce. This dessert was good and delicious. The musicians were good, although we only recognized three of the many songs, but that's nobody's fault. Now for the positive aspects of the evening, yes, there were some. We had table 64: All the waitstaff, both male and female, were fantastic. We've never experienced such friendly and attentive service in any other restaurant, especially the young woman who took our drink orders. However, we'll be looking for a different restaurant for New Year's Eve this year where the price/performance ratio is right. Sincerely, Wolfgang Nowak
