Vapiano in Berlin

Around the corner from the Ku'dam, nice and spacious and good quality Italian (not a specialty restaurant) food for a reasonable price

The food is pretty good. That's the only positive thing. None of the three employees spoke German. Why aren't sufficient German skills required for a job here? This is the second time now that my table wasn't clean. There's always dirt on or under the table. And it's too expensive. If you have a self-service concept, it doesn't make sense to charge the same or even higher prices than restaurants with table service. There's simply no reason to go to Vapiano when you can find clean restaurants with German-speaking waiters on Kurfürstendamm for the same prices.

For me, it’s one of the chill places around Zoo. It has two floors and enough space to sit comfortably. The second floor has a nice view of Ku’damm. It’s an Italian restaurant; the pizzas aren’t the best in town, but they’re good. You can order and pay directly at your table, and they’ll bring the food to you. Prices are average for Berlin. Overall, it’s a nice, relaxed place to eat and spend time with friends.

I left with mixed feelings. The absolutely positive aspect first: the ambiance is truly wonderful, and the decor is very tasteful and thoughtfully designed. You can tell that a cohesive concept is valued here, and everything is well-maintained; you immediately feel visually comfortable. Unfortunately, the ambiance was the only bright spot. Getting there was extremely difficult: the parking situation is more than inadequate due to the current construction on Kurfürstendamm and cost a lot of time and nerves. Once you're frustratedly searching for a parking space, even the beautiful interior can only partially salvage the overall impression. Overall, it's a nice place to linger, but the circumstances and the rest of the experience unfortunately couldn't live up to the visual appeal.

The worst Italian food I have ever tasted in my life.

It's okay. The kids' menu is cheap. The pizza dough isn't like in an Italian restaurant.

For me, this is the best Vapiano in Berlin. The food is, as always, fresh and delicious – especially the aglio e olio, my absolute favorite. The pasta was perfectly al dente and tasted fantastic. The service here is truly world-class. I'd especially like to commend the bald gentleman – extremely friendly, attentive, and professional. You immediately feel welcome and well taken care of. The atmosphere is pleasant, the restaurant clean and well-organized. Overall, a fantastic experience. I will definitely come back and highly recommend this location.

I've been there a few times at different times, and there's always space.

Food was okay... nothing more. Service, cleanliness, friendliness, value for money, waiting time... all completely unacceptable. The toilet was a disaster, the tables were unclean, the food was just okay, but for the price (pasta €22) it was unacceptable. You need to do something! We won't be coming back anytime soon.

Not worth 1 star, we were given drinks without glasses, we waited 1 hour for our food and the food was not even cooked

Forgetten orders, cold food, bad heated old pasta, bad service

I was repeatedly given condescending and disapproving looks by employees at the checkout. I felt uncomfortable while waiting. They should hire more professional staff. I won't be coming back.

This used to be a real hotspot where you could eat well. I'm very disappointed. The service was practically nonexistent, the carbonara was mediocre, and the meat was overcooked.

It's such a shame what's become of what was once a flagship franchise concept! These days you practically have to search for the ground beef in unsalted pasta Bolognese... it's just sad!

First the table wasn’t clean then we ordered 2 pastas , they supposed to be creamy but they were to sticky, no flavor, to cold, 3 pieces of chicken and chewy. Really unexpected from Vampiano , I had also stomach problems after the food maybe I was unlucky but still this is not what I paid for , my little sister could do it 100 times better than this .

The food is okay, but nothing special. The ordering system is awful. It works, of course, but all the data and everything else is just too much hassle to handle in a restaurant.

I don’t recommend this restaurant at all, especially when bringing your date. Walking inside, you’re immediately introduced by piles of dirty plates on each table. No waitress in sight. Besides, not even the plate-free tables are wiped. Now to the food: I ordered the “creamy chicken Alfredo pasta”. Not even one bit of cream was spotted in that pasta. It tasted so dry and unflavored I swear I could’ve seen dust if I squinted my eyes enough. The noodles weren’t really cooked through, it felt like biting onto car tires. Besides the chicken is wayyy to chewy, also felt like car tires. I expect at least some flavor from a 17€ pasta dish. Save your money or buy yourself a kebab next door. If you wish to have a delightful night with your date, or even if you’re just hungry, don’t come here. :)

It used to be my favorite restaurant. It used to be a place with great food in a beautiful setting. Now it's just a beautiful setting. The food has steadily declined since the pandemic and is now downright unbelievably bad. If you want a halfway decent pizza or pinsa, choose one of the four "basic" options and then add at least three, preferably five, extra toppings. This quickly becomes expensive—leading to either a bad mood due to bad food or an overpriced meal. Service is practically nonexistent. Orders are now placed at one of two kiosks (McDonald's charm at an Italian restaurant), and the food can be picked up at the counter when the buzzer sounds. It's reminiscent of a cafeteria or canteen. The person who handed me my food on my last visit was looking elsewhere—perhaps out of the impressive, enormous windows—one of them elaborately curved—at what is probably the most typical square of former West Berlin, the intersection in front of Kranzlereck, which is always bustling with activity. There are enchanting, leather-upholstered seats, thick oak tabletops, and elaborate wall designs featuring wood and tiles. Visually, everything is warm, spacious, and effortlessly elegant. In reality, however, especially on the second floor, it's freezing cold at midday during the winter, but wonderfully empty, almost meditative. If you don't mind keeping your down coat on just in case, I don't think there's a more attractive spot near Kurfürstendamm to enjoy a break from shopping.

Terrible food. We ordered four dishes, and none of them were tasty. The mint tea was brought without any tea; only the mint was floating in the water. Everything was dry, and there was very little filling.

The new pop-up pasta was inedible! More onions than pasta! When I spoke to the staff and said it was inedible because it was completely full of onions, he just said, "Yeah, that's outrageous!" I paid over €40 and then got service like that?!

This was my first time at Vapiano, and it will definitely be my last. The pasta and pizza were truly inedible. Except for the drink, which was really good (Elderflower). No thanks 🤷🏽‍♀️

The pizza is so-so, and so is the atmosphere. Overall, it doesn't quite reach five stars. So, a solid four.

Waited over thirty minutes for food after ordering.

This was my wife's very first time at Vapiano. Despite the high expectations, we were extremely disappointed with the food. The Cheesy Garlic pasta had absolutely no garlic flavor; it contained whole cloves. The pasta itself was overcooked, extremely sticky, and had no bite at all. The Caesar salad we ordered with it was also disappointing in terms of dressing and seemed rather unfresh, more like a haphazardly thrown-together mess. My wife then ordered a Salami pizza, hoping to salvage something. It was edible, but any takeaway around the corner could have made it just as tasty – not the highlight one would expect from such a chain. It's a shame the food overshadowed everything else. The service, however, was pleasant and friendly. A little extra smile never hurt anyone.

"Va piano" is just right. It's a shame the concept reminds me of certain well-known fast-food places where you pick up your food and drinks and, of course, pay when you order. Let's just say it's convenient...

The pasta wasn't fresh; it was old, stuck together with a tasteless sauce. I've rarely eaten so badly. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!

The food took a while to arrive (it was also very busy) but it was delicious. The service was very friendly.

Rather confusing way of ordering food- you need to order and pay through special automat, and then take food at one place, and beverages at another place and payment is in one check. So, we took our food and the check was taken from us. And it was not possible to get our cola.

I've been to this chain a few times. For an Italian abroad, eating well-made pasta is perfect. The place is bright and clean. Prices are normal, considering the quality of the product. The only flaw (for our group) is that someone could help you with reservations. Not knowing languages, it was complicated for us. For the rest, I can only compliment all the staff and management.

The food was good, but the atmosphere wasn't really nice.

It tasted as if no salt had been added to either the pasta dough or the cooking water. In Italy, pasta is quite salty, and I understand that an Italian restaurant in Germany would want to adapt its dishes. However, it seemed as if someone had completely forgotten the salt. My dish had many red elements on the digital menu. That was presumably meant to represent my small orange tomato. It took a very long time for us to receive the starter and main course, for some reason simultaneously. The drinks and dessert were served fairly quickly. Hot chocolate: the powder wasn't distributed at the bottom. Furthermore, I didn't order cocoa, but hot chocolate, and had hoped that it would be chocolate with hot milk poured over it. The pomegranate drink was explicitly labeled "pomegranate" on the front, with only a picture of a pomegranate next to it – on the back, it explicitly stated hibiscus with pomegranate aroma or flavor (unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of that)... is that allowed? Tiramisu: strangely sour taste; the white part had the consistency of melted, frothy ice cream. Unpalatable. The receptionist seemed annoyed that their unusual concept was unfamiliar, speaking very unclearly and quietly in the noisy restaurant.

Very long wait times when ordering via the QR code at the table. Others who ordered from the machine and arrived after us received their food first. The food arrived lukewarm and under-seasoned, both the pizza and the pasta.

I went to Vapiano again after a long time, hoping to have a relaxed meal with my toddler on Kurfürstendamm. What can I say? It was simply awful. My mushroom pasta was overcooked, and there was no sign of a cream sauce. Instead, it was a thickened, starchy sauce that tasted only of flour and fat. The mushrooms were mushy. I loved eating there when I was younger, but all that's left of those days is the name. With food like that (and high prices), Vapiano shouldn't be surprised that their restaurants are empty. It's a real shame.

The shrimp pasta is always great. The Margherita pizza is also really good. I usually ask for mushrooms on my Margherita pizza.I think it makes it even better. The service is a bit slow, but that’s understandable because they prepare everything fresh. Overall, it’s a restaurant with really good dishes for the price.

I've only been to Vapiano a few times but this one's pretty cozy and isn't as crowded as some other I go here with my girlfriend to get pasta because she really likes their creamy garlic pasta. Quality of the food is good but everytime I eat here I personally feel like its a dirty pleasure because of the price. Don't get me wrong without any extras it wont cost more than 15€ but it just feels wrong to have pasta without cherry tomato, some parmesan on the side and rucola as well as a decent amount if meat. But the cost skyrockets from 10.95€ to 21€ due to extras while the portion stays small. TL;DR Good food, Cozy place (assuming good service as well) and decent pricing. Just avoid extras

We had lunch today at Vapiano near the Berlin Zoo and had a really good time! It's definitely an excellent choice for those looking for a casual, good-quality meal. The atmosphere is spacious and welcoming, perfect for families with children. The staff is distinguished by their kindness and professionalism, especially the Italian-German manager, who knows how to create a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. What makes the experience even more enjoyable is the simple ordering system: simply scan the QR code to choose your dishes and pay independently, without waiting. Finally, the location is strategic, just steps from the Zoo, making it ideal for a lunch or dinner break after a day of sightseeing.

Great food, easy to order, but lack of information and a little wait for the food. But the food was absolutely fantastic!

Really delicious and a chill vibe

I had dinner with my friends at Vapiano. We tried their pasta and some starters. All of them were very tasty. We have also tried some cocktails made by Christos and they were exquisite. The stuff was very friendly and polite. The place is cozy and the location is convenient. I recommend it without a doubt!

The ordering system via QR code is very convenient. The food, as with all Vapiano restaurants, is delicious and fresh. The staff was incredibly friendly.

Sorry, but everything there was just unacceptable. We ordered food with a starter and salad, and everything arrived with the main course. That was already a disappointment. The salad was pretty badly prepared. When I order salads before, they're usually fresh and look much better. This one was just thrown in, and for the price, like everything else there, there was very little of it, and it didn't taste particularly good either. For my main course, I had spaghetti Bolognese, but that was a complete disaster. The spaghetti was all sticky and mushy. And that's exactly how it tasted. Even cheap spaghetti from the supermarket is fresher and has some flavor. There wasn't much Bolognese sauce to be seen. So little meat in a Bolognese sauce, they might as well have served the spaghetti plain. For that insane price for food and drinks, I was really fed up. All things considered, even that price tag was too much. What a waste of money! I still didn't get full, and the bad taste lingered in my mouth all day. I can only advise against going to this place. It was an expensive lesson.

The ordering system and method are a joke. It's a disaster. The service is terrible. The place is sticky with filth. The food is okay if you know what you're getting, which is fast food a la Italy.

I've been a regular customer for years, but I have to say that Luigi has really improved the shop! The pasta was truly delicious, and you can tell that Luigi coordinates everything superbly and keeps things in order.

The table was cleared but not cleaned; there was an ant when taking the gummy bears out of the jar. The price-performance ratio isn't right. Too expensive.

Excellent pizza. The touchscreens for ordering need updating. They keep skipping. Waiting time is okay when the place is full. It's better to use QR codes for table reservations. The restrooms were unfortunately abysmal.

Both the main course and the starter were good, and the service was very attentive and friendly, as ordering via QR code can be a bit tricky. Nevertheless, it was a nice visit and we'd gladly return.

Vapiano used to be a paradise; I always ate the whole-wheat fusilli with tomato sauce and shrimp. Now I've been back after 5-10 years, and it's changed so much. The on-screen ordering system is a disaster; it feels like McDonald's. And the pasta was a disaster, too (it was supposed to be cheesy garlic, but it was olive oil, burnt pieces of garlic, and a bit of cheese sprinkled on top. Plus, the wrong pasta, and it was somewhere between al dente and rubbery). I could have done better at home with Netto products. Service was so-so. I wouldn't go back; 30 euros was definitely a waste. It's a shame; I've always loved Vapiano.

This allows you to put together your own meal in peace and quiet. Very good idea! The food is then brought to your table. At the end, you pay online (with a tip, if you like). I’m disappointed of the quality of food / service in this branch . I tried different Vapiano at different countries , this was the worst. I used to enjoy the taste and quality of ingredients of their pastas ! This was just tasteless, chewy pasta ! Also, around 20 minutes for pasta to be ready.

Had a wonderful lunch there with friends. The online ordering went more than smoothly. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The Vapiano concept has been improved a bit. It's definitely worth a visit. It won't be the last time.

The food is delicious. The system of picking up the drink at the other side of the restaurant is really confusing. Good for if you want something fast.

Back to basics 🙏 The usual delicious Diavolo Pizza is back, which is a good thing. I was there for lunch after a long absence. Everything was very pleasant, quiet, great atmosphere, friendly service, and clean. Great salads, the best soups and pasta, and once again delicious pizzas with good dough! The digital ordering system at the table is fun and works well—keep it up and keep at it, the concept is great. 😃😎👍

We were on a family vacation in Berlin with our two children and were near the restaurant. It started to rain, so we went inside and had a good meal. The service was very good; the manager (who has been running the restaurant since around May 2025) even personally inquired and seemed very engaged. I can recommend the restaurant.

Unfortunately, the food wasn't good. We had penne carbonara with salmon. There was no sauce at all. The whole thing was just dry. The waitress didn't even ask if the food was good. We had the feeling everyone was a bit overwhelmed. We also ordered a pizza calzone, which apparently wasn't even on the menu. Only after asking were they willing to make the pizza. All in all, a disappointment.

The service was excellent, the food incredibly delicious, and I will definitely be back. A big thank you to Luigi for the great service!

Steep prices for small portions. I ordered the carbonara with linguine. The pasta was clearly overcooked, and the sauce had very little flavor. Overall, one of the worst carbonaras I've ever eaten. Considering there's no staff to take your order or bring it to your table, the prices are far too high. Only go there when nothing else is open.

I’ve been to quite a few branches of this chain, and my general feeling is that since COVID and the chain’s temporary closure, it hasn’t returned to what it once was. I’m not sure why, but it’s just not the same anymore. The very first branch I ever visited was in Berlin – the one at Potsdamer Platz. On this visit to Berlin, 12 years later, I went into that same branch because it happened to be near my hotel. I ordered pasta arrabbiata because I enjoy spicy food, but unfortunately, what I got was more like pomodoro – just a simple pasta with a basic tomato sauce. The dessert was served in a jar and seemed to have “cut corners” by using less mascarpone, creating an empty gap beneath the strawberries on top. The price doesn’t justify the visit – and certainly not the quality of the food. Sadly, I had a similar experience two years ago at another branch in a different country. It’s a shame, as I used to really enjoy dining at this chain.
