In my opinion it is the best restaurant in the area! The atmosphere is very pleasant, you just feel comfortable. Very simple, the food is the art here. The food here is simply indescribable. Breathtakingly delicious and beautiful at the same time. They are always works of art that not only look good, but taste exactly the same. Flavors are combined that I would never think of, but that blows my mind every time. :D I can recommend it to anyone who appreciates good food. The staff is also extremely friendly, we always have a great time there.

Very good restaurant in the Lörrach district. From the front you can't tell what's behind the name of the restaurant. The food is very tasty and looks like little works of art. I have probably never eaten so well at such a good price and in such a great normal atmosphere where you can feel good. Can't be done every day but perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, anniversaries, etc. You don't have to worry about being looked at stupidly with shorts or no shirt. Really great 🥰

Sehr leckeres Mittagsmenu im Freien im Schatten genossen. Man hört zwar die Straßen, fühlt sich aber mit den Zitronen-und Orangenbäumen, dem leckeren speziellen Essen und dem freundlichem Service wie in den Ferien.

The starter was a dream, a real delight - the sauce, the tomatoes, every single element was incredibly tasty and delicately prepared. The main course, my goodness, that was delicious. The ox cheeks were very tender and the passion fruit polenta was a delight. And the dessert, it was the best dessert of my life – so fresh, lively and light. You could literally feel the nuances of the flavors, and the chocolate cake with a liquid center was simply wonderful and perfect. All in all, in my opinion this is one of the best restaurants in Lörrach. The only downside was that the food took quite a long time to be served, but this enjoyment completely made up for it. A MUST for all connoisseurs of good food!

Wenn man im Restaurant Vanilla essen will, muss man viel Zeit mitbringen. Unsere Vorspeise haben wir erst nach über einer Stunde bekommen. Die Qualität der Speisen war jedoch sehr gut. Die Bedienung wollte partout erst die Getränkebestellung aufnehmen, bevor wir überhaupt in die Karte schauen konnten.

In April 2024 we were at Vanilla again for a long time with 3 people. Everyone had the 4 course menu including the tapas dessert for 86 euros per person. All the dishes were little works of art and you didn't dare destroy them. Be it beetroot, fish, meat, ice cream or the tapas, everything was excellently prepared. The wow effect for the eye as well as the palate was guaranteed. It was a perfect evening for us, we'll be back.

Das Restaurant Vanilla ist ein wahres Juwel in der Gastronomieszene. Von dem Moment an, als wir eintraten, wurden wir mit dem besten Service empfangen, den man sich wünschen kann. Das Personal ist diskret, immer präsent und nie aufdringlich – eine perfekte Balance, die den Abend unvergesslich macht. Die Kochkunst im Vanilla ist auf höchstem Niveau. Jede Mahlzeit ist ein Kunstwerk voller Verspieltheit und Raffinesse, das immer wieder für große und wunderschöne Überraschungen sorgt. Die Qualität der Speisen bleibt über die Jahre beständig spitze, was in der heutigen Zeit leider sehr selten geworden ist. Ein besonderes Lob geht an den Küchenchef, der es mühelos mit den Sterneköchen der Region aufnehmen kann und diese sogar überbietet. Vanilla Restaurant is a true gem in the dining scene. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with the best service one could ask for. The staff is discreet, always present and never intrusive - a perfect balance that makes the evening unforgettable. The cuisine at Vanilla is at the highest level. Every meal is a work of art full of playfulness and sophistication, always providing big and wonderful surprises. The quality of the food has remained consistently excellent over the years, which has unfortunately become very rare these days. Special praise goes to the chef, who can easily compete with the region's star chefs and even surpass them. At Vanilla, there is never a dish that is bland, too salty, too dry, or otherwise unsatisfying. Every detail is treated with the utmost care and perfection. My thanks go to the entire team for this impressive consistency and dedication to culinary art. Vanilla remains my absolute favorite restaurant and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Kulinarisch ein Highlight, auf Sonderwünsche wurde eingegangen, der Chef persönlich hat sich am Tisch informiert, so muss es sein! Da ist im Aussenbereich aber noch Potenzial nach oben. Die Pflanzen oder auch die Beleuchtungen könnten geschmacksvoller und liebevoller sein. Auch der Eingang könnte einladender zum Ambiente eingerichtet werden.

We had dinner at Vanilla with 6 people. As usual, we were treated to professional and friendly service. All questions regarding the food and drinks, their origin, ingredients and taste were answered individually and in detail. The quality and taste of all the dishes we chose were first-class and were emphasized by the arrangements on the plates. Of course we were also happy about the “imaginative greetings from the kitchen”. Conclusion: If you want to give yourself and your friends a gastronomic treat, then Vanilla is the first choice in Lörrach. Of course, the beautiful ambience of the interior design also contributes to this Restaurants contribute to this. We will be back.

Wir waren mit 6 Personen zum Abendessen im Vanilla. Wie gewohnt, wurden wir mit professionellem und freundlichem Service verwöhnt. Alle Fragen betr. der Speisen und Getränke, deren Herkunft und Inhaltsstoffe und Geschmack wurden einzeln und ausführlich beantwortet. Die Qualität und der Geschmack aller von uns ausgesuchten Speisen waren erstklassig und wurden durch die jeweiligen Arrangements auf den Tellern noch unterstrichen. Natürlich freuten wir uns auch über die „phantasievollen Grüsse aus der Küche“. Fazit: Wenn man sich und seinen Freunden eine gastronomische Freude machen will, dann ist das Vanilla die erste Wahl in Lörrach. Natürlich trägt dazu auch das schöne Ambiente der Inneneinrichtung des Restaurants dazu bei. Wir kommen wieder.

But above all, the quality and the incredibly loving presentation of the dishes are convincing. It's hard to believe that the chefs haven't yet been poached by star restaurants. Outstanding restaurant with very good service. The jackets are removed, the menus are handed out in the correct order (woman before man, old before young) and attention is paid to very polite, reserved communication during the visit. The food is very creatively prepared and tastes exciting and interesting. You can tell that the staff and the kitchen are really in their element and enjoy their work. Keep it up!

There is someone in the kitchen here who works with great attention to detail, great creativity and a good understanding of flavors. The fact that I personally didn't like everything 100% is more to do with my tongue than with the cook. We were very satisfied and would like to come back.

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Abend im Vanilla! Das Restaurant ist gemütlich und luftig. Man konnte sich gut unterhalten, was mir in einem Restaurant wichtig ist. Das Essen war sehr lecker und wurde mit Finesse präsentiert. Es gab zusätzlich noch einen grosszügigen Gruss aus der Küche und zum Kaffee ein paar Leckereien. Die Bedienung war auch sehr freundlich! Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist kaum zu übertreffen! Ich komme wieder.

Ein ganz tolles Restaurant! Die Gerichte waren aufwändig gestaltet und schmeckten hervorragend. Die Karte ist überschaubar, bietet aber ein ausreichendes Angebot an verschiedenen Speisen und Menüs. Auch vegetarische Varianten wurde auf Nachfrage angeboten. Die Servicekräfte sind kompetent und äußerst freundlich. Auch das Ambiente hat uns sehr zugesagt, minimalistisch und dennoch gemütlich. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist angemessen. Wir kommen bald wieder weil es uns so gut gefallen hat!

Ich hatte vor Kurzem das Vergnügen, das Gourmet Restaurant zu besuchen und möchte meine Erfahrung gerne teilen. Schon beim Betreten des Restaurants wurde ich von einem charmanten und aufmerksamen Personal herzlich empfangen. Der Service war ausgezeichnet und sorgte dafür, dass ich mich während des gesamten Abends rundum wohl fühlte. Die Qualität des Essens war einfach fantastisch. Jeder Bissen war eine Geschmacksexplosion, die meine Geschmacksknospen begeisterte. Die Auswahl an Gerichten war beeindruckend und es war offensichtlich, dass hier nur die besten Zutaten verwendet wurden. Die Kreationen des Küchenchefs waren meisterhaft und jedes Gericht wurde ansprechend angerichtet... Das stilvolle Ambiente und die geschmackvolle Einrichtung trugen zu einem angenehmen und eleganten Erlebnis bei. Das Restaurantteam war äußerst aufmerksam und sorgte dafür, dass es an nichts fehlte. Der Service war aufmerksam, aber nicht aufdringlich, und das Personal war stets bereit, Empfehlungen auszusprechen und Fragen zu beantworten. Alles in allem kann ich es nur uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Von Anfang bis Ende war es ein kulinarischer Höhepunkt mit exzellentem Service. Die Qualität des Essens und die ansprechende Präsentation haben mich beeindruckt. This restaurant provided a phenomenal unexpected experience. The reason it was unexpected is that the restaurant is in a rural area and does not show its excellence from the street. We were staying at the close-by campsite and were happy we found our way here. The food is simply remarkable as was the fantastic Spanish wine selection. Great experience and a great price/quality proposition.

So geht Gastro! Auf einer kleinen Karte die Gerichte neu interpretiert. Doch beginnen wir von vorne: Das Ambiente ist schlicht gehalten. Dennoch vermittelt es dadurch Ruhe und das Essen ist im Mittelpunkt. Das passt. Der Service ist sehr freundlich. Man ist bemüht den Wünschen nach zu kommen. Grosser Pluspunkt ist die Authetizität des jungen Personal. Ein kleiner Abzug im Verhältnis des hoch stehenden Angebots aus der Küche: Der Service ist ungelernt resp. einzelne davon. Es sollte mehr auf die Stationen geachtet und aufgefüllt werden (Getränkeservice etc.). Die Küche macht einen Bombenjob: Die Speisen sind erfrischend kreativ angerichtet. Im Mund hat man kleine Geschmacksexplosionen und verschiedene Geschmäcker die gut aufeinander abgestimmt sind. Bravo, da geht mir als Gastronom das Herz auf. Preis-Leistung finde ich aufgrund Grenzgebiet schwierig: In Deutschland kenne ich das Verhältnis nicht. Aber für uns Schweizer finde ich das Angebot (Essen) viel zu günstig. Dort ginge mehr... Würde ich wahrnehmen und die höheren Umsätze direkt in Serviceschulungen stecken. Kleiner Wehrmutstropfen: Nach der kulinarischen Reise bestellten wir noch Espresso... Auch hier wieder mit viel Herzblut mit kleinem schönen Gebäck hausgemacht. Der Kaffee selbst ist jedoch sehr wässerig. Passend wäre hier im Verhältnis zum Konzept bspw. eine italienische Kolbenmaschine. Kommen gerne wieder und bedanken uns sehr!

Wunderbarer Service in schöner Umgebung und ausgezeichnetes Essen

Es war mein erster Besuch im Vanilla. Und wohl mein letzter. Gerichte sind sehr schöne Kunstwerke und an sich gut im Geschmack, mir persönlich fehlte jedoch bei jedem Gericht das „mmmmmh“. Bedienung, eine Dame, war nur oberflächlich freundlich, leicht passiv-aggressiv sogar. Da dieses Restaurant gehypt wird, hatte ich entsprechend Erwartungen… Leider hat für mich die Liebe zum Detail gefehlt, die ein solches Restaurant ausmachen. Buchstaben des Restaurants draußen total dreckig von winterlicher Witterung (waren im März da). Die Glaseingangstür war mit unzähligen Handabdrücken übersät. Beides kein guter erster Eindruck. Wurden zum Tisch geleitet, ohne Karte. Karte kam sehr lange nicht (natürlich nur als Außenstehender betrachtet: es war unter der Woche und nicht viel los). Alle vier Speisekarten waren im Einband komplett zerfleddert. Getränkekarte hatte Pappränder, in die die Menüblätter eingesetzt waren, diese Ränder verdeckten jedoch die Buchstaben der aufgelisteten Getränke. Man musste diesen Rand anheben, um lesen zu können, fand ich persönlich nervig. Über das Ambiente lässt sich streiten. Sehr karge Einrichtung. Geplant war denke ich minimalistisch, ich jedoch fand es lediglich kahl und ohne Aura. Kerze auf dem Tisch wurde nicht angemacht. Ein Tischtuch war auf links. Nach Getränkekarten mussten wir extra fragen. Sowas hab ich noch nie erlebt, so dass ich diese skurrile Unterhaltung zitieren muss. Bedienung beim Aushändigen der Menükarten: „nach Getränken müssen Sie nehme ich noch schauen?“ Wir: „ja, Dankeschön“. Als wir, erstmal minutenlang in die Gerichte vertieft, merkten, dass keine Getränke in der Karte aufgelistet waren, fragten wir nach. Darauf meinte diese ganz überrascht: „Ja nein, das sind nur die Speisekarten, Getränkekarten sind extra, soll ich sie Ihnen bringen?“ „Ja?!!!!?“ Weinglas hatte einen kleinen Riss im Fuß. Viererlei Brot und Dipps, die vorab gereicht wurden, wurden nicht erklärt. Geschwärzte Oliven waren ohne Geschmack und schlichtweg grässlich. Aperitif Getränke wurden leider vergessen, wir mussten schließlich nach sehr geduldigem Warten nachfragen (dabei waren wir im Gang/Blickfeld gesessen). Bei der Schieferplatte des „Grußes aus der Küche“ war ein großes Stück abgebrochen. Glasplatte der Vorspeise war leicht gebrochen an paar Ecken. Auf der Toilette waren Spinn-/Staubweben an den Füßen der Kabinenwaende. Das Geld in dieser Gesamtbetrachtung leider nicht wert, da viele Punkte nicht einfach auf einen schlechten Tag schließen lassen.

Das Essen und das Ambiente sind absolut perfekt! Ein kulinarischer Genuss mit Augenschmaus!

Sehr unhöfliches Personal,was leidet mit Kritik am Essen persönlich befangen reagiert. Nicht professionell! Essen sieht hervorragend aus jedoch geschmacklich noch Luft nach oben in dieser Preiskategorie. Ambiente leider sehr schlicht gehalten, bzw bis hin zu gar nicht. Kaum Diskretion zwischen den Tischen und eine effektive Dekoration kaum vorhanden. Es sind Boxen vorhanden, welche jedoch nicht verwendet wurden (keine Musik), als wir da waren. Sehr schade. Vanilla ist an sich eine gute Adresse mit einer außergewöhnlichen Küche, jedoch macht das Servicepersonal alles andere als einen professionellen Eindruck.

Their appetizers are the best part of the meal. Imaginative, daring and fun Main courses are more classical and taste is good, but all the whimsical "tapas" and the presentation made it memorable for me. Can't wait to go back and try things that we did not order before. Unfortunately no pictures since my phone ran out of battery.

We had a nice Business dinner on a monday in Feb 2017. CLear and modern ambiente with white tablecloth. The service was friendly and attentive, the menu was good value for Money (considering the vicinity of the Swiss border, which notably increases Prices in Lörrach compared to the rest of Germany). The food was well prepared, and I would like to highlight the cooking degree of the meat which was to the point (in Germany meat is unfortunately often slightly overcooked). Overall, a good place.

nice place, good ambiente. Not so much attentive service. Drinks ok. Interesting menue but not so much clear what the concet behind is. Rather fancy amount of food with good design on the plate but not so much to eat after all. If you are really hungry go elsewhere since the servings take their time as well. If you are open for a food experience its a good place to try out something new.

We were there for some time before realising that a Spanish theme was Intended...understated would be about right! We ordered the tapas dish, it was good, met expectations and did the trick. We'll go back.

Every restaurant can have a "worse" day, or evening. It's how you handle any potential problems or challenges (too little staff? new chef in the kitchen? all tables came at once and wanted to order?). With Vanilla, there are signs of a "worse" trend. We booked for 20:30 on Saturday evening. With 5 other tables (one of 8 people), some of them already past their mains, it was not what you call a busy evening. Still, it took more than 20 minutes for us to get our menus, be able to order drinks and then food. Seeing that the two ladies working that night were clearly stressed, we decided to go for main courses only (prawns and steak). We had to wait more than 45 minutes for our food to arrive, with ZERO attention from the waitresses. "Your food is on its way" or "Apologies, we're a bit busy tonight but the chef is doing what he can" or "Would you like another drink, your food will be with you shortly" would have been the polite minimum expected from any half decent restaurant. We did receive a small amuse bouche 2 minutes before our mains were finally served, a classic example of too little too late. Prawns were ok. Steak (claimed to be Angus beef) was too hard to stick with the fork (trust me, having waited so long for it I really tried) and extremely chewy. After two bites I decided I'd rather leave hungry than with a hurt stomach. If you know anything about beef you would know that this was either something very different to Angus, or was simply too long in the fridge. Throughout the evening we have not complained to the waitresses about the waiting time, or about the eventual disappointing quality of the food served. I left the entire steak on the plate, as a "subtle" message to the chef to maybe reconsider his approach, without making a fuss to the already stressed ladies. When I asked for the bill, the waitress took my plate away, with the whole unfinished steak on it, without saying a word (again, free constructive feedback from my 6 years working in a restaurant: "was your food ok sir?", "was the steak not cooked as you like?", etc.). The fact that she did not bother to say a word is probably the most concerning of the whole "experience": probably she was not surprised and this was not an "accident at work". French fries were quite good and the our bill was brought very quickly (obviously with all the food on it) and payment taken very expertly. I left without saying much, and without having been asked. We will not come back.

I have been in this restaurant around 10 times, both for lunch (fantastic price ratio) and for dinner (more expensive but still affordable and still a very good price ration given the excellent meals). The chef seems to be keen on trying new presentations and never goes for the easy way. He is all about trying interesting combination of flavors (their mandarine mousse explodes with delight in your mouth). Although he would try some molecular additions (for example flavored vinegar pearls) he never forgets that you are in Germany... and this means something "solid" in your plate. Sometimes he would be a little bit too heavy on the salt (for example on the scallops) but this is a pure personal taste as I go rather for not too salty plates and prefer to add the salt myself. I like the "lounge" atmosphere, sober and tasteful. Service is discrete and VERY helpful (I once asked for a pure vegetarian variation of the lunch menu and I got an excellent meal with lovely cooked vegetables). An excellent choice also if you go for a professional dinner to sign a contract. The quite atmosphere and excellent food would certainly help for the negotiation...

Fabulous restaurant located in the suburbs of Lorrach, we stayed in a nearby campsite where the on site restaurant was closed and found this restaurant nearby. The food was so tasty with great flavours and all the dishes had amazing presentation. The only negative was that the kids menu was restricted to Weiner Schnitzel but they were all very happy with it. The toilets were full of a selection of mositurisers, hand creams etc which was a nice touch, an absolute must if you are in the area. Staff very friendly, although little English is spoken.
