Nice food... Gyoza was great... Fried chicken was awesome...

Cozy little restaurant at the Stuttgart town hall. Since there aren't that many seats, we had to wait about 10 minutes until we got a table (we were there around 1 p.m.). Tonkotsu Ramen was tasty, in our opinion a bit too much noodles and not enough toppings. We got the food pretty quickly.

Waiting in the pouring rain for a free table was really worth it, even on a Monday evening. Authentic cuisine, real craftsmanship and an incredible experience Taste. Very good restaurant for ramen noodles. There is a clear menu with starters and main prizes, as well as cold and warm drinks such as Japanese teas, lemonades and beer. We had to wait a bit outside, so I would always recommend making a reservation. Our order was taken quickly and delivered quickly. Everything we ordered was hot and tasted very good. Freshness and quality are very good for the price.

The ramen is delicious, just a bit expensive in my opinion and it's a shame that you can't make a reservation, if you're unlucky you'll have to wait in line for a long time as the shop is relatively small.

As a big Japan nerd and ramen lover, I actually have to say: super delicious! I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and a green tea. Above all, the meat was incredibly tender and delicious, and the broth and noodles were terrific. I'll definitely come back :)

This is the place where I tried the ramen for the first time. It is hard to find a table. They are not taking reservations, so most probably, you need to wait on the que to get a table. But it is not taking much time (20-30 mins). And the Ramens are totally delicious. You can order in 5 minutes, and it will be served around 10 minutes.

Tried this ramen place based on recommendations online. Expect to wait quite awhile especially if you turn up for dinner. Overall this was not my favourite ramen I’ve eaten. Definitely better than some of ramens served in Europe but definitely sub par and not worth the wait. Ordered a matcha tea in the shop, definitely not what expected and not authentic. Definitely okay and worth a try but just not to my liking unfortunately.

Maybe the name of the location “Umami” combined with the movie of the same name with Gerard Depardieu triggers the hype? In any case, the principle of “thesis, antithesis, synthesis” can be clearly studied in the comments and responses from management here. An important aspect of Hegel's philosophy, whose birthplace was less than 20m away from here. In any case, anyone who comments on almost every non-positive review and praises improvements should be measured by that. The overloaded and littered toilets (we visitors are the culprits!) from three months ago, documented with photos, currently looked exactly the same. This could be remedied relatively easily with a little care. "Our knowledge should become knowledge" (Hegel again)

Update October 2024: After a while we went to Umami again and because I liked it so much, I ordered the same thing as last time: Chicken Tan Tan Men. This time, however, the soup was very bland. There were a lot of noodles in the bowl and they weren't anything special either. Too bad. Original review: We recently had ramen here for the first time. Once we had Chicken Shoyu and once Chicken Tan-Tan Men. Chicken Shoyu wasn't perfect as some of it tasted bland. The Tan-Tan Men was very tasty but also borderline spicy. The atmosphere is pleasant, if a bit cramped. The service was very pleasant. Unfortunately, the prices are very high. 16 euros for a noodle soup is already steep. In general I can recommend it, but there is definitely still a bit of room for improvement. Hence only the 4 stars.

Service was friendly, the order was taken quickly, and the food came quickly. Starter chicken and dumplings. These are frozen goods. The soy sauce and dip are also industrial products. Vegetables were only sprouts and corn. The broth and noodles are mediocre and not authentic ramen. Yes, conceptually it is a fast food restaurant. However, I have had better in comparable restaurants in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Berlin. If you go there with the expectation of eating quickly and leaving and don't have any special requirements, it's fine.

Small oriental restaurant with delicious food. We ordered 3 different types of ramen and they were all very tasty. The sizes of the portions were also very good. Great service, also. Small, informal and cozy atmosphere.

I was there for the first time today (2 hour drive there and back) and felt like I was at the train station. The bowls aren't even empty and they're gone. This went on 5 times until everything was off the table and “they want to pay” came up. You can't eat comfortably there because the next 10 people are already waiting outside and you feel like you have to hurry. The food itself was good, but I don't like the stress of eating.

Small, nicely furnished restaurant that, unlike other Japanese restaurants in Stuttgart, is still open in the afternoon. There are also delicious vegetarian dishes and all in all the food tastes very good. During peak times you might have to wait a bit to get a seat, but it doesn't take long for the food to arrive and it's really worth it! ありがとうございます🙏

Ate around lunchtime on Sunday -> then spent the whole night on the toilet from 3:00 a.m. The people I visited the restaurant with (there were 3 of us in total) received the same problems as me, just a few hours later! The shop should be banned and should be reported for intentional bodily harm! Today I had a very important appointment that I couldn't keep because of this restaurant! DANGER! DANGER! Best ramen in Stuttgart and the surrounding area I drive an extra 1.5 hours each way to enjoy this delicious ramen 😍 the restaurant is very small, which is why larger groups have to wait a little longer, so it's better to eat there alone or as a couple. I wish there was an Umami near me 🥹❤️

This ramen restaurant always has a line at peak times, and for good reason: the food here is really good. I also loved that I was given a protective apron for my white t-shirt without asking. There isn't much to do for children, but a simple noodle soup can be prepared for them upon request.

Ate ramen here for the first time and absolutely loved it! Not only was the food incredibly delicious, but it was also served at the table in a record-breaking 15 minutes - perfect for the lunch break. No waiting time, friendly service and for around €15 you get a decent portion. Will definitely come back!

Was missing some food and a drink was spilt but they kindly compensated the drink and gave extra missing piece of the food. I rate this 10/10 and better than most ramen shops in Australia where I'm from.

The ramen itself was good, but the noodles were a little raw and hard. The drinks cost way too much, it’s not right to ask for 3 euros for 200ml of water. We asked for tap water, they said yes and they never brought it to us.

We ate Tonkotsu and Tantamen, both ok for Germans. Served very quickly, the place was full. I will visit again someday.
