Das vielleicht beste japanische Restaurant im Nordwesten. Die Qualität von Sushi und Sashimi ist hervorragend, die Saucen köstlich, und auch Spezialitäten wie Tataki sind im Programm. Wer nicht so auf Fisch steht, bekommt auch gute Fleischgerichte.

Hier stimmt alles, frisches leckeres Sushi, aufmerksames, aber nicht aufdringliches Personal, sehr gemütliche Einrichtung. Top!

Eins der besten, wenn nicht sogar das Beste, Sushirestaurants in dem ich speisen durfte. Gehobener Preis und die Bierauswahl ist eher mittelprächtig aber das Sushi und auch die Vorspeisen sowie die Desserts sind einfach nur exquisit. Man merkt, dass zumindest bei den Waren nicht gespart wird. Die Kellnerin war ausgezeichnet geschult und man sieht vor allem im Service wirklich die Liebe fürs Detail. Auch mit unseren Kindern gab es dort keine Probleme, vor allem der Hinweis zum rohen Fisch und das eine Sushiroll extra für Kinder modifiziert wurde rechne ich hoch an. Alles in allem wirklich ein tolles Restaurant

Es war wirklich köstlich. Das Personal war sehr aufmerksam und hilfsbereit. Ich habe Lebensmittelallergien, und sie haben einige Zutaten für mich ausgetauscht. Die Musik war beruhigend und die Atmosphäre sehr angenehm. Das Dessert war köstlich.

Die Bolws waren leider nicht so, wie wir es uns gewünscht hätten. Service und Wartezeiten waren gut, aber wir werden nicht nochmal dort essen gehen.

Das Essen war der Wahnsinn. So ein Sushi hab ich selten gegessen. Jedoch gibt es Punktabzug für die Sitzmöbel (sorry)

Essen war leider garnicht gut, Gegrilltes Fleisch war nicht gegrillt eher angebraten, zudem leider trocken und Übergart Miso Suppe eher geschmacklos und als Einlage leider nur Tofu und kein wirkliches Gemüse für denn Preis leider zu flach! Tempura Ente war Übergaart und sehr sehr trocken, zu der Aussage sie sei trocken kam,, ist ja cryspie Ente aber wo hat denn bitte cryspie was mit trocken und übergaart zutun, Der Reis und das Curry waren dafür aber gut. Ich möchte hiermit Nix schlecht machen, dies hier ist nur ein demnach entsprechendes Feedback aus der Sicht der selbst ein Koch ist! Service war an sich nett aber dennoch etwas aufdringlich das entsprach aber nicht der gesamten Teams. wir saßen hatten noch in der Karte geguckt und während des Schauens wo die Karte noch geöffnet war wurden wir 2 mal gefragt ob wir denn schon wissen was wir wollen, schön und gut essen kam als ersten und 2 Gang zudem ich gesagt hatte da es nur eine Vorspeise gab und jemand anderes nur ein Hauptgang wollte sagte ich dies soll bitte trotzdem beides zeitgleich kommen da ich nicht in Begleitung als einziger essen wollte sondern das alles schon auf dem Tisch stehen sollte. Resultat ich hatte mir mehr erhofft, ob ich wieder komme würde ich vorerst nicht sagen da Preis und die Leistung zu gleich nicht einstimmig sind für das was geboten werden sollte oder was der Selbstverständlichkeit entspricht!

Das Essen war sehr lecker und auch das Ambiente passte, aber leider war der Service unterirdisch ( wir haben 45 Minuten auf die Getränke gewartet und selbst nachdem wir den Service darauf aufmerksam gemacht haben, hat es noch mal 1o Minuten gedauert); das Essen war vor den Getränken da. Als Entgegenkommen des Hauses wurde einer Person ein Espresso angeboten, peinlich!

Das Sushi ist sehr lecker. Lachs und Thunfisch zergehen förmlich auf der Zunge. Der Service ist ebenfalls sehr gut. Das Mochi-Dessert ist auch sehr zu empfehlen! Die anderthalbstündige Fahrt aus den Niederlanden hat sich definitiv gelohnt. Ich komme ganz bestimmt wieder! 🍣😊

Das Essen war gut und frisch. Es waren die Standardkreationen, die man in jedem Sushi Restaurant bekommt. Also nicht besonders fancy, aber wie gesagt frisch und gut. Leider ist alles völlig überteuert. Zwei Thunfisch Nigiri’s für 10,50€ geht einfach gar nicht. In Hamburg kosten zwei Thunfisch Nigiri’s selbst in gehobenen Restaurants maximal 6€-7€. Die hohen Preise sind wirklich schade, weil man gern öfter gehen würde, aber das fühlt sich irgendwie nicht fair an.

Ich habe noch nie so gutes Sushi gegessen. Die Überraschungsplatte für 2 Personen ist sehr empfehlenswert. Eine schöne Mischung aus Klassikern und Innovationen. Auch der Nachtisch (Mochi und Grünteeeis) war hervorragend. Der Service war sehr freundlich.

Umami hat uns rundum begeistert. Schon beim Ankommen wurden uns die Jacken abgenommen – ein sehr aufmerksamer Start. Der Service war ausgesprochen freundlich, zuvorkommend und hat alles gut erklärt. Das Restaurant ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet und hat ein sehr passendes, modernes Ambiente. Bei vielen Gästen ist es entsprechend lebhaft und etwas lauter – was aber auch zeigt, wie beliebt es ist. Unsere Sushi-Überraschungsplatte war perfekt für zwei Personen abgestimmt. Besonders toll: Wir durften Wünsche äußern (z.B. kein Krebsfleisch, gerne etwas mit Trüffel) und alles wurde wunderbar umgesetzt. Das Sushi war absolut frisch und von hervorragender Qualität. Auch das Dessert – schwarzes Sesam-Eis und warmes Schokoladenküchlein mit flüssigem Kern – war ein Traum. Wir kommen definitiv wieder und empfehlen das Restaurant von Herzen weiter.

Ich war heute spontan, mit einer Freundin, das erste Mal da essen und das Sushi war UNNORMAL gut (sidenote: ich bin normalerweise kein Sushi Fan). Dennoch finde ich, dass das Veggie Angebot etwas ausgebaut werden könnte für Veganer/ Vegetarier. Und die weibliche Bedienung mit der Brille war wirklich so so lieb und angenehm.

Zum zweiten Mal waren wir in diesem Restaurant – beim ersten Mal eher zufällig, diesmal sind wir extra aus Bremen angereist, nur um dieses großartige Sushi zu genießen. Es gehört für uns zu den besten Sushi-Restaurants in Deutschland, wenn nicht sogar dem besten. Auch die Beef-Gerichte sind hervorragend und geschmacklich top. Für uns lohnt sich die Fahrt absolut. Ja, die Preise sind höher, aber dafür bekommt man auch entsprechende Qualität. Ehrlich gesagt wünschte ich mir, dass die Restaurants in Bremen ähnlich hohe Preise hätten – wenn dafür auch die Qualität so gut wäre. Wer sehr gutes Sushi in einem stilvollen, gehobenen Ambiente genießen möchte, sollte sich über die Preise nicht beschweren. Und wer es sich nicht leisten kann oder will, findet schließlich genug andere Alternativen.

Sehr gutes Sushi(10/10),frisch,interessante Kombinationen und das ganze mit Liebe zubereitet. Der Service ist sehr bemüht und dabei nicht aufdringlich.Kleines Manko gab es leider. Wir hatten einen Tisch direkt an der Bar. Platztechnisch leider unglücklich da dort viele Leute (Gäste und Servicekräfte) direkt an deinem Tisch vorbei laufen und es dort etwas eng ist. Ansonsten alles sauber,gepflegt und ruhig. Wir werden wieder kommen aber einen anderen Tisch probieren.

Das war das beste Sushi, das wir je gegessen haben. Wir fahren extra aus Bremen hierher, um im Umami zu essen. Nicht nur das Sushi, sondern auch die Vorspeisen wie scharfe Edamame oder Carpaccio waren perfekt. Die Kelnerin war super nett und aufmerksam. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Wir sind heute wieder zum Weihnachtsessen dort gewesen. Das Ambiente, der Service, das Sushi war sehr gut wie immer. Allerdings haben die Preise es in sich und da waren wir heute mit dem Doradenfilet 27 € mit ein wenig 'trockenem' Reis, den man mit 6 Euro extra zahlt oder etwas Bratkartoffeln mit 7,50 € nicht ganz so zufrieden. Hätte man Sosse gewollt,kommen nochmal rund 4 € dazu...ist unserer Meinung nach etwas überzogen. Schade irgendwie. Aber unsere Servicedame war wie sonst auch sehr aufmerksam.

Wir sind seit 4 Jahren Stammgäste im Umami und gehen hier ca. 2 mal im Monat essen. Der Service ist immer sehr nett und freundlich. Wenn hier junge Leute neu angelernt werden funktioniert das natürlich nicht immer reibungslos. Aber alle sind freundlich und geben ihr Bestes. Omar ist hier derjenige, der alles super koordiniert und sich auch mal bei den Gästen entschuldigt, wenn ein neuer Mitarbeiter noch unsicher und etwas unbeholfen ist. Rezensionen, in denen „ Schimmel auf den Früchten“ und „pfeifende Geräusche“ im Restaurant mokiert werden, können wir überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen. Wir mögen das Essen hier sehr, genau wie das lockere Ambiente , die chillig- jazzige Lounge Musik und den netten Service. Bis bald! 🩵

Als Vorspeise der junge Blattspinat mit Teriyaki Soße und Sesam war eher langweilig abgeschmeckt Teriyaki nur zu erahnen. Die Hähnchenspieße ebenfalls mit Teriyaki Soße waren ausgezeichnet aber mit 20 € ohne weitere Beilage einfach zu teuer. Unserem Hauptgang „Umami ThunaTataki Sashimi“ konnte man nicht ansehen das er kurz angebraten war weswegen er für uns nachgearbeitet wurde. Leider waren die Abschnitte des Fisches nun komplett durchgebraten und es wurde mit Soße gegeizt. Auch dieser Gang enthielt keine Beilage. Das Umami war zur besten Essenszeit gegen 19.30 nur schwach besucht. Ob wir einen zweiten Besuch wagen bleibt fraglich.

For someone from Berlin, the prices are a shock. The quality of the fish is certainly good, but the coconut milk soup was a huge disappointment. Far too sweet, no flavor at all. The service and atmosphere, on the other hand, were really good.

My very first time eating sushi was there. I ordered the surprise platter for two, which had a little bit of everything, from purely vegan or vegetable options to fish, both breaded and unbattered. There was something for everyone, the restaurant was very nice, and the view was great. The location near the harbor is also very pleasant.

We spontaneously visited Umami and were completely thrilled. The ambiance is stylish and pleasantly quiet, ideal for a relaxing evening. Even though we arrived without a reservation, we were lucky enough to get a nice table. The sushi recommendation for two was not only a culinary highlight, but also a real visual eye-catcher: served on a large board, artfully arranged with homemade sauces and a delicious avocado and salmon salad. For starters, we had edamame, perfectly seasoned and an ideal starter. The recommended wines paired perfectly with the meal and rounded out the experience. The attentive service is particularly noteworthy: they asked us directly about our preferences and intolerances, and since we didn't have any, we were surprised. And it was worth it! The selection was creative and harmoniously coordinated. A place that we would happily recommend not only for the food, but also for the overall experience. We will definitely be back!

The ambiance was appropriate (music taste is a matter of taste), the food was truly delicious, the service was at times clumsy, but very courteous and attentive, and overall very expensive. We were there with two children, who were still hungry and wanted to go to the restaurant with the golden M afterwards. We adults each had two sushi rolls, which weren't that big, and a total of three glasses of wine (no bottle) and a bottle of water. We paid a total of just under €180 for that. The food was really good, but for that price, we as a family would have to go elsewhere. It's too expensive. Even as a single person, I would only afford it if I had something to celebrate. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back anytime soon.

Top-notch service and top-notch food. Definitely worth the price! We've eaten there twice so far, and it was always delicious. If you live in Oldenburg, I recommend getting there by bike or public transport, as the restaurant is right in the city center.

We used to be very happy and regular guests at this restaurant and always appreciated it. This made our visit after a long time all the more disappointing. The service, unfortunately, had deteriorated significantly. The soup I ordered was served as a clear broth without any garnish. Upon my warning, the waiter took my spoon and stirred the soup right at my table to check if I was correct – a move I found very unpleasant and unprofessional. The table service was also inattentive: The waiter repeatedly served across the table, his shirt practically hanging in the food. When he handed me my dish across the table, the sushi almost slipped off my plate. In addition, the quality of the food was not up to the usual standard. The rice in the sushi was hard and didn't seem fresh. Overall, this visit was unfortunately very disappointing.

I had an umami pasta with wild-caught shrimp and Parmesan, and my friend had three sushi variations. He thought the sushi quality was okay, just "good." He felt the price was a bit high for the setting. My shrimp pasta, on the other hand, exceeded all my expectations. Service satisfaction = top-notch 👍; incredibly accommodating. Location = unexpectedly narrow but appealing 🪷. Even though I wouldn't necessarily come back anytime soon because of my money (and the prices, which are fair, though) 🙈 - I'll be back 😃👋.

There were five of us there. There were only a few customers. It took 60 minutes for our appetizers to arrive. There were practically no requests for drinks. As for the food...the food didn't live up to expectations. It was bland and poorly presented. We've been there often, and the food was always excellent. With the new chef, I can't recommend this restaurant anymore. I can get better quality food elsewhere for much less money. It's a real shame.

I celebrated my birthday there and it was simply wonderful!! When I asked for the bill, the lady came with an ice cream and sang happy birthday as a surprise, I will definitely come back again, I felt very good and welcomed, not to mention that the food is spectacular

The food was really great, except the fruit for dessert was moldy! The restaurant itself is nicely decorated. But you can constantly hear a high-pitched noise (like a cat repellent) that can be heard throughout the entire restaurant. It's an unbearable, constant whistling. For younger people with good hearing, it's unbearable. You can't enjoy the food at all, and it's too expensive for them... It was also terrible for the dog, as they have even better hearing. If you have good hearing, then this isn't a problem. They are very friendly and knew you could hear something, but they couldn't leave.

The sushi here is incredibly delicious! Unfortunately, I haven't been here in a while...

We had booked a table at 6 p.m., and after some searching, we found the reserved table for 6 people, but the other part of our group was initially seated elsewhere. After a while, we realized that half of us were sitting upstairs in the restaurant, and the two of us were downstairs. The drinks for the two of us were quickly ordered and served quickly, but the others, once they were seated at our table, had to wait another 20 minutes before they could order anything. By 6:30, everything was ordered and everyone was at the right table... well, and then it was a wait... It took a good 60 minutes, with questions about when the food would arrive, until the food finally arrived. There was nothing wrong with the food; it was very tasty! But the service today was abysmal, and that, combined with the not-so-cheap food, was a real shame, because in an expensive restaurant, you expect appropriate service. We will choose a different restaurant next time. Good service is simply part of the experience.

The service was poor. Upon arrival, we (six people, some of whom arrived at different times) were seated on different floors – despite having a reservation. Even though the restaurant wasn't full, our drink orders sometimes took more than 30 minutes to complete. We couldn't get the attention of the waiters, who were engaged in lively conversation, any sooner. When our drinks were served at the table, we were given a non-alcoholic beer that contained alcohol. The food didn't arrive until over 90 minutes after we arrived. The quality of the food was okay, but the price-performance ratio wasn't right.

The food is delicious. Surprise board for 2 exactly as expected. However, the PRICE is 75 EURO. 3 people could easily have been full of it. We got half as take out, as we couldn't eat more. The terrace was closed, even though it's summer. Maybe because it was a bit cloudy. The reception was very friendly but the waiter was a bit rough and stressed, despite the fact that we were the only ones in the restaurant when they opened.

Service was very good. Drinks were on point. This isn't your average sushi. It's truly something special. The details and high-quality ingredients are definitely noticeable. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether it's value for money. The price is high, but it's something special. 4 stars because one fork was dirty and I was hoping for more from the ambiance.

A truly fantastic sushi restaurant with an elegant ambiance! The decor is stylish, the music pleasantly subtle – it's a wonderful place to have a conversation. We had the sushi platter for two, which tasted absolutely fantastic: fresh, delicately presented, and with homemade sauces that were simply AMAZING. After a long bike ride, however, I was so hungry that I had to order more – but under normal circumstances, the portion is more than enough for two. The service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and at the same time pleasantly unobtrusive. You feel completely at home. I'll definitely be back!

You can eat delicious sushi and other Asian dishes here. Initially, we planned to try another restaurant, but somehow Umami appealed the most. So we went in, received a polite, friendly welcome. The food arrived quickly and, as hoped, was a hit. I had the Umami Special Duck with Red Thai Curry. My wife had an Umami Roll and a Master Roll. We were both extremely satisfied with our choices. We'd be happy to come back.

The two of us ate the omakase menu for more than €200. Positive: The food was mostly good/very good Cons: Service was average to very poor We had to take cutlery from the neighboring table, we didn't get any. The food (5 course menu) was just served to us without telling us what we were eating. At every other table it was explained exactly which sushi rolls were being served. When I asked several times about dessert what the chewy ice cream was, I was only told that it was vanilla ice cream - which is not true, as the vanilla ice cream was the other large scoop. In the meantime, the male waitress next to our table yawned extra loudly and later stared penetratingly into my wallet and made derogatory gestures. Absolutely not appropriate for the price.

What else can you say........ Simply great, a successful evening from start to finish and that with 2 children. Great service, great ambience, just switch off from everyday life. Not exactly cheap, but worth every euro.

We visited the restaurant today for lunch. The two of us were there with our baby. The value for money was absolutely excellent, and the quality of the food fully met our expectations. The non-alcoholic cocktail recommendation was also delicious. I can only say the service was excellent. Since we had to leave at short notice, they packed the food super quickly and asked again how I felt to make sure it had nothing to do with the food, which it absolutely didn't, but I think it's very good that they explicitly asked again. I had the sushi and the duck as a main course and the coconut soup as a starter. My husband had the steak, which was cooked medium rare, and his review said it was also delicious. Every dish was not only delicious but also beautifully prepared. The ambiance is beautifully designed. We will definitely be back.

I had dinner here with the family yesterday and was fascinated! The food was great as was the service. The evening went great and the service was also very entertaining. I can only recommend this & will come back often!

I had lunch there with my daughter, I had seared pork from the lunch menu for 14 euros!! The dish was very carelessly presented, without a single piece of fresh vegetables etc, just pork, which was also gristly!! There was a scoop of rice, and there was very little in the dish, so I didn't even get full! My daughter's sushi, however, was very good, and the service was also very attentive! In total I ate for 35 euros (lunch) Already eaten much better!

Overall really recommended. What is very annoying, however, is that you can find various ramen online, but they are not actually offered. I actually only came to Oldenburg for this reason.

The sushi is by far the best in Oldenburg! The surprise platter for €70.00 for 2 people is generously prepared and leaves nothing to be desired - the quality of the tuna is extremely good! The service could be a little more attentive and professional. Everyone was nice, but the ambience and the quality of the food were on a completely different level! Nevertheless, thank you very much for this wonderful evening, it was definitely not the last time we were with you!

In my opinion, the prices for Umami are not justified at all, I had the red Thai curry with duck. For me the curry was more like a soup than a sauce, the duck was tough and I would have preferred a plate with this menu rather than a board! My friend had a burger with fries, the burger was very small so we got a lot more for the money this burger cost and it was also of good quality. The burger itself was good, according to my friend, but the price for this burger was utopian and simply excessively high. Conclusion: The ambience is better than the food, so we won't be coming back again.

We ate really, really well at Umami. The quality of the sushi was great. It tasted very tasty and fresh! The burger also tasted excellent. The dessert was okay, but it didn't quite grab us. Next time I visit I will eat more sushi and skip dessert. Parking is difficult. There are a few parking spaces opposite, but mostly full. There are a few more up the street too. We parked in the Schlosshöfe car park and walked for 3 minutes.

Das ist ein Japanisches Restaurant nicht nur die Beste der in Oldenburg sondern auch eine der Beste in Deutschland ist. Wir kommen wieder. Atmosphäre, Speise… , alles sind super 我们来自上海，在德国工作一段时间。今天通过Tripsdvisor 觉得照片中的寿司和细腻，选择了这家餐厅，没有失望。这不仅是奥登堡也是德国最好的日餐厅之一。厨师是尼泊尔人，我们还以为是日本人做的寿司呢

Everything about this place is lovely, but they don't have a baby changing station which is a big minus if you are visiting with a baby.

Absolute recommendation! You can taste the freshness and quality of the food. Very friendly service, a beautiful location and also, for example, the wines or the delicious cocktail “house aperitif” (both with and without alcohol) round off a nice visit to Umami. We always enjoy coming here :-)

I don't understand the positive comments at all. :( The service is totally emotionless, so this had a big impact on the atmosphere and general mood. Dealing with customers is anything but friendly. One could say, funeral atmosphere!!! Regarding sushi...everything totally fell apart while eating it. For the prices it's really incomprehensible. It's a shame :( ...since this restaurant's ambience is actually very nice.

very good quality, extremely tasty

My wife and I ate here for a date night. The food was delicious and came quickly; we each had a bento box. The chocolate cake dessert was also delicious.

We dined at Umami for a special occasion. We had been there several times before and were always thrilled because it was something very special in Oldenburg. The food was good that evening, but the variety of dishes has diminished. However, the service was particularly negative. The service was emotionless and the previous commitment of the employees was no longer noticeable, which caused the entire atmosphere that evening to suffer. In a restaurant like this, which offers fine cuisine with the corresponding prices, more emphasis should definitely be placed on service and a feel-good atmosphere. The price was therefore disproportionate to the usual quality and atmosphere.

A dream. The sushi tastes heavenly. The ambience is pleasant. The service is top. A good place to leave everyday life behind for a short time. Clear recommendation!

Restaurant is very nice inside. Outside I find it a bit too plain and undecorated. Service was quick and friendly. We had the sushi platter for 2 people. This was very tasty and prepared quickly. All in all very good. Gladly again.

We had a vegetarian bento and linguini in avocado sauce. Both were okay but not worth the high price. The vegetarian sushi was particularly disappointing, there was no particular sophistication, the rice was not seasoned enough, the soy sauce was too salty. €30 for a boring plate with some avocado and cucumber is too much. Once and never again.

Very good food, perfect service and a very great atmosphere

Cold burger, coconut soup was so thin and without sophistication, only a small broccoli floret was added. 2 small chicken skewers for 10.50 euros. Sushi plate ok but not much for 79.00 euros. Lack of value for money. We cannot understand positive reviews.

Unfortunately I ordered the red Thai curry with duck. I can't recommend it. Next time I'll try the sushi.

Very tasty, very attentive service but a bit loud "working noises". It was still bearable, but every now and then it rumbled. Still highly recommended. We'd love to come back.

Wenn man japanische Fusionküche möchte dann ist das Umami genau der richtige Ort für Mittag oder Abendessen. Das Lokal ist edel eingerichtet und hat zwei Etagen, von der oft nur eine offen ist. Der Service ist sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Qualitativ hat Umami nicht nur den besten Fisch der Stadt sondern auch das beste Sushi insgesamt. Generell gilt für japanische Küche gibt es in Oldenburg keine bessere Adresse. Die Preise sind etwas überdurchschnittlich, aber gerechtfertigt. Neben dem Sushi ist auch das Ramen wirklich gut. Generell gilt das Umami will kein authentisch japanisches Restaurant sein, sondern ausgefeilte japanische Fusionküche bieten und das machen sie mit Bravur.

The stars actually say it all! Upscale ambience, a friendly welcome and the sushi on offer is on par with the aforementioned attributes! Or to put it another way, the glutamate kitchen is left behind.

The food at Umami was really very good! We had the surprise platter for 2 people. I thought it was very good that we were first asked about allergies and intolerances. Since we have no restrictions, we were able to be completely surprised. From tempura vegetables to fried rolls, California rolls and maki to nigiri and sashimi. Everything was really, really good and I could have indulged in the homemade teriyaki sauce. The service was also very courteous and attentive. Really a great evening at Umami.

Very good sushi! Delicious soups, but the crème brulee was underground 🙈 Prices were quite high...The fish was of very good quality and the quantity was plentiful. But I found 5.80 for a small extra bowl of rice on an order of 150 euros very cheeky! Therefore, one point deducted!
