Tunnel Döner in Hamburg

I ate the bread and meat with plain onion and hot sauce, the hot sauce had an excessive mint taste, the onion was cut too thick and watered down, as if it was made the day before. There were two people at the counter, the short one was constantly coughing into his hands and working without gloves. Thank goodness my order was taken by the other tall guy, who wore gloves. The portions were filling and measured.

9.20€ for a kebab that doesn't taste good!

We were at both of these shops about an hour ago and had neither lahmacun nor durum. The doner meat was cold, the doner bread was pre-baked and much too thin, and the fries were already soft. The staff serving us were far too hectic and corrected people when they said something wrong.

The master delivered a great job and made me a fantastic fries kebab. He had fantastic meat, fantastic crispy fries, and the sauces were fantastic! I paid 7.40 or 7.20, a good price, and a fantastic kebab. And the kebab master knows how to make a kebab.

Extremely unfriendly and hectic employee. There was no one behind me, and he talked to me as if he were fleeing and I was stopping him. I got a greasy dürüm that was dripping with bite 1. On top of that, the employee, in his haste, didn't even listen and gave me veal instead of chicken. I used to like coming here. Now they should find an alternative 🤮

Mini doner kebabs, language barrier. Never again.

I ordered a lentil soup with bread. The seller said it would be right away, but after waiting 30 minutes, I still didn't get any bread or lemon for my soup. On top of that, the lentil soup here costs almost €8. His final response was, "Sorry - next time." I'll never come back here.

The price has gone up from €7.90 to €9.70 for a Dürüm... that's a bit too much for me all at once. I really like this chain's kebab and have been eating it regularly for several years (at least every two weeks). But unfortunately, I find it too expensive now. A small price increase would be understandable, but almost €2 more expensive from one day to the next is really too much. It's a shame; I'll have to find an alternative.

It was delicious, we got two Dürum, the hot sauce is also hot and doesn't taste like ketchup, the bread was good and the meat quality was also good 👍🏼 The price for Hamburg is also great

The workers were super nice and the food tasted amazing.

The roll wasn't that great. And cocktail sauce is a different story anyway. But for a quick bite, it was okay and filling. My colleague was polite, even if I didn't understand him. If I had more time, I'd get something else next time.

The day before I flew on holiday I got food poisoning from the tunnel kebab that was served behind the counter, along with a börek with cheese which I wanted. Of course I ate it and then 10 minutes later I got a strange feeling, I felt dizzy, my stomach hurt and I started sweating, I thought it was all because I hadn't drunk any water, but in the end it happened 🤮 when I started shaking which wasn't normal at all, I did it 4-6 times 🤮 half an hour later I went back and complained, the guy was very disrespectful and of course defended his shop, said it couldn't be from us, back and forth, I don't know if they have a 3 day old bow against me but never again, I would eat from there, I'd rather boycott the shop or starve than eat from there NEVER AGAIN

We bought 4 "Döner im Brot" (2 chicken and 2 beef) with 4 drinks (including 2 water and 2 sodas) for €39.60. A little (too) expensive but very good with good bread, well-cooked meat and vegetables and just a little sauce. Service jokingly. There are 2 locations. We went to the takeaway service in the access tunnel to the station. Not the one with the terrace on the forecourt. Restrooms nearby.

The Tunnel Döner at the main station is absolutely not recommended. Its taste has nothing to do with the Tunnel Döner down at the station by the platform – completely tasteless and unfortunately disappointing. The restrooms are catastrophically dirty!

I've eaten many kebabs throughout Germany. But the one at "Tunneldöner" in Hamburg was the worst tasting so far. It was completely unacceptable. The bread was sticky, and the meat tasted absolutely nothing. 👎 What was great was the service. 👍🏻 The server was in a good mood and very friendly.

The meat wasn't cooked through, and despite complaining, they tried to convince me it was normal. I've been eating there for 15 years, and I think this was the last time for now.

Unfriendly, salad in the display was not fresh and completely brown, kebab ordered without salad but the bread and meat also tasted absolutely bad.

Unfortunately, the bread didn't taste good at all. It was bland and lacked soul. Overall, the kebab was okay, but I would only recommend eating here in an emergency. It's better to choose a higher-quality place. On a positive note, despite the crowds, it took less than four minutes for me to get the kebab. Due to its location, the place is clearly geared toward mass production—unfortunately, at a noticeable cost to quality. I wouldn't recommend it as a general recommendation.

It was between this and döner haven, and I must confess that I made the right choice. Xai hong chu!

Birkan is the best doorman at Hamburg Central Station. He can even learn your language in a few days. He gives all guests his friendly smile. He's simply a great employee and deserves to be admired 😘👌👍

The kebab man wasn't wearing gloves, which I find highly dubious and disgusting. The kebab was bad in every way: the bread was thick and soggy, he mixed up the sauces, and he wasn't friendly. I think the Asian Tom Cruise kebab man there was trying to poison me, as I kept throwing up after eating it. I can't recommend anyone eat there...

It was one of the most satisfying and delicious döner dishes we have ever eaten as a family. It had rice underneath, salad, döner and sauce on top. We recommend it.

An attempt was made to have the review deleted for "defamation." As you can see, it's still there. I'd like to explain my review again: - The man behind the counter was unfriendly. - I told him what I wanted three times, but it was still done incorrectly. When I pointed this out, it was only corrected half-heartedly. - Everything seemed dirty and definitely unhygienic. - Stomach upset later in the day. - And it didn't really taste good either; one of the worst kebabs I've ever had. I definitely won't eat here again.

Previous experiences: Unfortunately, the quality of the dishes varies greatly. The filling quantity of the dishes depends on the seller. Dürüm is often very thick and greasy. The cocktail sauce, for example, is too diluted for the doner box. What I also find illogical is that you currently have to pay a €0.40 surcharge for mixed meat. But you get the same amount of meat, namely 180g. I advise against getting food there when the city is very busy (e.g., harbor birthday). The meat (they only had chicken) wasn't cooked properly. Otherwise, the food is generally decent. If you're on the go or want something to eat late at night, you can go for it. I would have liked to give it 3.5 stars, but unfortunately, that's not possible. Edit 2025: Suddenly, the review had to be changed... I wonder if someone is taking action against reviews that don't suit them?

The location and presentation have a lot of potential. I've been there a few times now, and the food is forgettable—the sauces aren't spicy enough, the vegetables are usually no longer fresh, and the flatbread has the consistency of a washcloth. Hygiene is completely forgettable, so I've already thrown away a kebab once because it simply wasn't prepared hygienically, and I didn't want to get food poisoning over the weekend. The staff, regardless of age, all need a language course and a comprehensive hygiene course.

So I think it's a shame that everyone criticizes this kebab shop. I find the kebab/dürüm very tasty. In terms of hygiene they are not 10/10 but they are definitely sufficient because my dürüm is always completely clean without hair as the others describe. The service is very nice, I often talk to them and joke with each other so very good service. The ambience isn't that great, but what can you do at a snack bar in the tunnel of a train station. They also have a good card system where you put bills in and then coins come out, very practical and a good hygienic alternative, instead of pressing it into your hand and then your hand is still dirty etc... so that's pretty good (not every kebab shop has it). I've never had a bad experience with them, I go there weekly and give it the title of the best kebab in Hamburg (by far) which my friends confirm!

Bones in the flesh. The taste of the kebab and durum is ok. However, I had onions in the kebab even though I didn't order it, but that can happen because the onions were next to the other vegetables. However, strangely enough, there was something hard inside the Dürüm, I would say it was a bone.

Didn't expect much. But we were pleasantly surprised. We had a Falafel Dürüm and a Falafel Doner. Cost us a total of €12. The red sauce was very fruity and delicious. All in all, we enjoyed the food very much!

I recently ordered 2 kebabs here, one with veal and one with chicken. The waiting time was average, it was very busy but it was relatively quick. Now to the kebab itself. Actually, this shop was just an emergency option for us, we originally wanted to go to probably the most hyped kebab in Germany, almost right next door, but the queue was far too long and we would have missed our train. That's why we went to Tunnel Döner, I had an extremely uneasy feeling based on the reviews, but it turned out completely differently. First of all, homemade, delicious bread (tasted like pizza roll dough), sensible layered meat and not a simple minced skewer, fresh salad and sauces, plus the size of the kebab (in Berlin this would easily pass for a big kebab) and all for "just" 6.90€, for a kebab at the Hamburg main station that's extremely clear, especially since I thought Hamburg would be rather expensive. As a Berliner, I am of course spoiled by kebabs and I have only eaten very few that were not prepared in Berlin style. That's why I really missed the Berlin sauces (herbs and garlic) and since cocktail sauce in kebab is a crime for me, the tzatziki sauce had to be used. Of course, the kebab tasted completely different than comparable ones in Berlin, but definitely tasty and actually healthier. Overall, we were really positively surprised by the shop and I would definitely order a kebab here again (on my next visit to Hamburg) to eat on the train. Since there is no real garlic sauce here, you don't stink up everything ;-).

Horrible salty food and unfriendly impolite staff. The food was too salty and I asked them to give me another one and they refused and told me I have to suffer from their mistake. A report to the Gesundheitamt is on its way!

Unfortunately I didn't get to eat it to test it. I stood in front of the counter, the man sitting on his chair on the left looked at me several times and simply ignored me. He didn't even make an effort to make a gesture to me that he would be there soon or that he was busy. Simply coldly ignored.

The overall rating is clearly too low, hence 5 stars from me. Sure, you can't get a top-level kebab to go in the tunnel at the main station, but I don't expect it here either. If you're hungry, you'll definitely get your money's worth. €6.90 for kebab in bread is absolutely fair, for a decent amount of meat and quality. The bread was also something different, tasted fresh, not too puffy, slightly sweet. Sauces in taste and selection great. All around delicious kebab! Card payment possible, service very nice. Gladly again at any time.

‼️not recommended‼️ I ordered a kebab today and was unfortunately very disappointed. The bread was not at all suitable for a kebab, it looked big, but the taste was inferior and inappropriate. The filling was also unsatisfactory and didn't hold what I expected. For the price I expect at least reasonable quality. It seems as if they are trying to deceive customers with a large portion without actually delivering good quality. Please consider your ingredients and make sure the quality matches the price.

There were two of us there. The seller asked if we wanted veal or chicken, we had never had a choice before. We decided on 1 kebab and 1 dürum with chicken to take away. Plenty of meat (well seasoned), crunchy vegetables and lots of sauce, delicious 😋 It was so full that we were able to eat two of our dishes. Definitely again when I'm there again. The only drawback is that there is no seating, so no rating for Ambiete is possible.

I’m not sure why such an overall low rating. Maybe because it’s probably highly trafficked. I had the Lehmucun w salad. Very good and cheap and a lighter option than döner but just about as big. I specifically chose this place because it was easy to approach and that’s a huge compliment.

At 12:00 I got a chicken dürüm. Unfortunately, after a few bites I realized that the meat inside was completely raw, red and wobbly. For this reason I had to throw away the Dürüm immediately. Such an experience is not only disappointing, but also dangerous to your health.

Pomm kebab box was delicious and filling. Very quick service, 10 minutes transfer time was enough. The location is of course not a feast for the eyes but what should you expect from a passage.

Tunnel kebab - the name seems to say it all. Dark, underground, creepy. You did it. This was by far the worst Dürüm kebab of our lives. My son threw the Dürüm in the trash after 2 bites. The tzatziki must have had a bite, it tasted cheesy and sour. The flatbread was oily and also tasted strange. The hot sauce tasted like a ready-made Asian sauce. Do you actually try your own food? Apparently not. We almost got it out again. Never again… Staff was nice, but that doesn't help anymore.

Once one of the best kebabs in the city, now just ok. But at the main train station, there are always customers here. At least a highlight for the eye; the kebab is cut with the device.
