Trader Vic's in München

It is not our goal to smear a restaurant, this needs to be said, but this was our second time at this location, and it was not at all to our satisfaction. A very slow Saturday evening (so no room or excuse for error or laziness). Hostess was the highlight of this evening. Very welcoming and friendly. That was where this experience ended. In the area of service, we were not asked for beverages until after 10 minutes after being seated. The appetizers were what we were looking most forward to, but they were for both of us, mediocre at best. Main course dishes were as another reviewer here mentioned.:Underwhelming. Serving a dish of shrimp with vegetables and rice has never been served up so boring. Lack of flavor, no good use of spices..utterly disappointing. Being full aware that this is a known franchise is what brings you here, but you need all the elements from the waitstaff to the chefs careful execution of dishes to bring this to fruition. I can go anywhere and be served up amazing cocktails in Munich, so this for me is not worth the mention for my review. The quality of service and food is what I’m addressing here. I’ve been to restaurants who have been in business way longer than this and consistency brings me back. Trader Vic’s in Munich have some serious hurdles to overcome.

Great atmosphere, when staying at the Bayerischer Hof it is always a must for us, great service, great food

The service was very bad, we waited half an hour for drinks and reordering wasn't any better either. The food was cold and tasted like it was in an Asian snack bar and in no way corresponded to these prices. Even the dessert as compensation couldn't make it any better. The men's toilet was dirty, full paper trash cans, etc. I paid €940 for something that wasn't even worth half the quality. Once and never again and in a 5 star hotel!!! On my birthday I was ashamed in front of my guests, some of whom had come from very far away.

Ich liebe dieses Restaurant. Es ist so authentisch dort und die Speisen sind der Hammer. Dazu noch einen Cocktail und der Abend ist sicher gelungen. Auch für den kleinen Hunger gibt es eine tolle Snackkarte und es macht einfach nur Spaß. Tolles Team danke ich komme immer wieder gerne

Wir waren gestern Abend in Familie im trader ...leider waren wir total enttäuscht..es fing mit der Gardeobe an ...12 Euro ...aber noch nicht einmal mit Karte bezahlbar...also haben wir unser cash zusammen suchen müssen..dann bekamen wir als erstes das Essen vom Nachbartisch serviert..wurde dann mit kleiner Entschuldigung wieder abgeräumt. Unser Essen war zu 50% kalt ...und deutlich überteuert. Viele Ober sind der deutschen Sprache nur wenig mächtig und somit ist jeder Wunsch der Kunden schwer umzusetzen...Schade,,, wir hatten uns wesentlich mehr von diesem Lokal erwartet. Ich weiss auch nicht ,warum das traders im Vorfeld ein Foto von mir wollte, um mich begrüssen zu können ???? Die Frage verknüpfen Sie einen bestimmten Anlass mit Ihrem Besuch ?? Warum?

UPDATE 2025. The food is still delicious as are the drinks. This year the truth changed people. It was too much, they didn't let us go to the area without a reservation, which we understood and we sat near the bar. The issue came later when they let people pass without reservation. We feel that they left us aside for being Tourists. Since those who entered without reservation were Germans. But hey, not if I would go again. 2023: He has a great time! The vegetable rolls are delicious. The food is in small portions, but it is more than anything a place to eat and enjoy. The drinks vary and are very delicious.

It was our first time at Trader Vic’s. Firstly, the ambience is exceptionally good. You feel comfortable very quickly. The cocktails we chose were consistently excellent. However, we lacked a bit of attention and professionalism when it came to service. Our biggest criticism is the food. We expected high-quality food in a restaurant like this and were happy to pay more for it. But unfortunately the courts were rather inconsequential. Unfortunately, the taste, consistency and appearance were very disappointing.

We have been coming to Trader Vic's for years and are always greeted warmly. We like the Polynesian-inspired ambience in the cozy, subdued light. We like the cocktails and we were happy when, after a long time, we discovered new products that we have all already tested. 😋 So far we haven't had any negative experiences eating. The waitresses were always friendly. I can't understand the negative reviews. Of course it's all a matter of taste. But anyone who goes here also knows that the prices are not comparable to the Chinese around the corner. We'll be back!

We were here for the first time many years ago (1975/76) - but it is always a highlight!

I was in this restaurant a year ago and loved it - the food was excellent, the portions were generous, both for food and drinks. Although it was expensive, the price was justified by the quality. This time, however, I was unfortunately very disappointed. Everything I had fond memories of has turned into the opposite. The scallops were tender, but without the typical crust that goes with them, and the sauce that came with them was disappointing. In my opinion, the rice as a side dish didn't fit at all and was also very dry. I had the same scallops a year ago and they were a real highlight back then - but unfortunately not this time. The drinks were okay, but absolutely not justified for the price. They were full of ice, so after a few sips there was hardly any left. For me, another visit here is over - far too expensive and unfortunately no longer good. Too bad!

“Disappointment with the drinks, despite a nice atmosphere.” Last night the time had come: The German Grog Council was looking forward to a special Tiki experience at Trader Vic’s Munich. The setting is really impressive – tropical atmosphere, historical vibe and great attention to detail in the interior design. But then the fun stopped. The drinks were an absolute disappointment: The Mai Tai (Pampero Aniversario and Blanco, Monin Orgeat) was completely unbalanced and poorly prepared - no trace of shake technique. The bartender seemed listless and unmotivated. The Dr. Funk of Tahiti topped it off with a sweet grenadine bomb that tasted more like cherry syrup than a classic tiki drink. Another low point was the Prosecco that accompanied us - without any carbonation, probably from a bottle that had been opened for far too long. After complaining, half of the drink was tipped away and only filled with fresh Prosecco - an absolute no-go. The presentation of the drinks was also visually disappointing: giant straws, which are not suitable for the small double old-fashioned glasses, further destroy the overall appearance. With four drinks for €70, we simply expect more - especially from a name as renowned as Trader Vic's. At least there were papadums and krupuk at the table, which didn't quite save the evening. After this failure, we preferred to end the evening at the Christmas market with Feuerzangenbowle and later an honest beer. Conclusion: Great ambience, but the drinks and service are unfortunately a shadow of themselves. Addendum: Dear Ms. Hoffmann, Thank you very much for your feedback and the time you took to respond to my criticism. I appreciate your regret about the situation and taking steps to improve the service. However, I would like to point out that your answer did not convince me in every respect. In particular, the statement that my criticisms “could not be confirmed” seems as if my experience was being questioned. I have visited other Trader Vic's locations in Dubai and Emeryville that offered a much higher level of quality and service. Unfortunately, the Munich location fell far short of these experiences, which was particularly disappointing because I also had high expectations for a renowned franchise like Trader Vic's. I think it's positive that you have acknowledged the problem with Prosecco and want to raise awareness among your employees. However, I am missing a clear statement as to how you plan to ensure in the future that the quality of the cocktails and their presentation also meet the international standards that Trader Vic's usually embodies. I would be happy to accept your offer to give Trader Vic’s a second chance if you visit again. I hope that I can then experience how your team also meets the high standards of service and quality that I was able to experience at the other locations in Munich. Best regards

Trades Vic's offers an impressive atmosphere and excellent service that absolutely meets the demands of the Bayerischer Hof. The cocktails are creative, taste excellent and are prepared with great care. The selection of high-quality spirits is also impressive. However, the prices are really very high, even by Munich standards. Cocktails 🍹 are empty very quickly and filled very well with ice. Anyone who comes here should be prepared to dig deep into their pockets for the quality and ambience.

Very dark atmosphere but very tasty! :)

The ambience is appealing, but unfortunately the food didn't convince us and we were ultimately rather disappointed. In our opinion the prices are totally excessive. Food was cold when it was served after waiting over 30 minutes, the quality left a lot to be desired. The potatoes tasted like they came from a jar and everything else was nothing special and just plain bland. When it comes to taste, we feel much better at the local Chinese restaurant.

The food at Trader Vic's is simply wow - something you definitely don't get at "standard" Asian restaurants. The dishes are creative, taste of the highest quality and offer a unique variety. Yes, it is a little more expensive, but the overall package is good: the service is first-class, the ambience is stylish and the food is truly exceptional. If you're willing to spend a little more, you'll get a thoroughly enjoyable experience that's worth every penny. Absolutely recommended! Tip: If you don't want to drink alcohol but want to try something tasty, order the Coral Reef! On the other hand, if you're looking for a big and delicious cocktail with rum, I can definitely recommend the TV's Swizzle - I loved it! 🥰

Always nice here!!! Service very friendly and quick After a few Dr Funk's son the mood increases...😉 In general the cocktails are very good, but also quite expensive. Well, quality comes at a cost. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to get a seat here without making a reservation in advance. To make a reservation for dinner you even have to make a reservation weeks in advance, crazy!!!

Best Polynesian cuisine and great cocktails.

Polynesia. If you go down the stairs into Trader Vic's in the Bayerischer Hof, you leave Munich. And I mean that. Surreal and always an experience. At the bar, which also offers snacks, or in the restaurant. My recommendation: Menehune Juice & the original Mai Tai!

The fit-out of this restaurant set a great atmosphere from the outset. Staff were very polite and helpful. The tables were well spaced out which was very nice and helped make sure it wasn't loud. The cocktails were nice, but be aware that the maitai is very strong. Large menu with many options. Loved that the cocktail menu had heaps of options! Food was nice but nothing exceptional, even though it was extremely expensive.

As a Munich resident, Trader Vic’s was best known to me for its cocktails. I hadn't heard much about food before - and now I know why. We started the evening with two cocktails, which were, as expected, very good. The atmosphere was appealing and the staff friendly - but unfortunately that's where the positive impressions end. The starter “Wagyu Cubes” for €28 was more reminiscent of a fried frozen dish and was disappointing in taste. The main course, the “Peking duck” for €120 (for two people), was an absolute disappointment: the meat was dry and the side dishes – some lemongrass and a few cucumber strips – seemed bland and downright embarrassing. This year I visited many high-priced restaurants both in Germany and internationally. This restaurant is miles away from the standards of fine, modern cuisine. I find it hard to believe that I just ate at Bayerischer Hof. The experience felt more like an Asian theme night in a budget hotel. In summary: a questionable and shameful experience that does not do justice to an institution like the Bayerischer Hof.

The food was good, but absolutely not appropriate for the high price. The ambience was harmonious, the waitresses were friendly, but erratic and stressed. The horribly expensive wardrobe (39 euros for 8 coats!), almost outrageous considering the restaurant prices. In good and especially expensive restaurants, the cloakroom should generally be free. The fact that this is not the case at Trade Vic's gives the otherwise relatively good restaurant a "cheap" and greedy touch.

Good ambience & the food is also great. BUT: the service leaves a lot to be desired. The prices are outrageous anyway (€39 for the wardrobe?!?) completely outrageous… The waiter doesn't listen, brought the wrong dish twice, didn't understand that we wanted to pay in CASH...then came back with a card reader AFTER payment?! Doesn't have to happen again. Especially not with the prices. You can expect service there.

We, two people, visited the restaurant yesterday for the first and last time. €263 plus €7.40 for the wardrobe. There is no cloakroom in the restaurant. That's why there are coat racks lying around on empty benches everywhere, for example. Welcome was friendly. The Aroy cocktail was not cold. Singapore Symphony was okay, unfortunately it has nothing to do with great cocktails in Asia. The Cosmo Tidbits appetizer was okay. However, the duck strips were dry. The Mian Kan Snack is a disgrace when it comes to value for money. The main courses were okay/boring. The Prawns Macao were dry. What a rookie mistake! Anyone who knows a little bit and has had wonderful meals a few times in this world, for a good price, knows what I mean. The BBQ Duck Breast was okay. The food was advertised as containing water chestnuts. There was exactly one(!) water chestnut in the sauce. You can buy 500 g of water chestnuts for around €4. Boring standard vegetables that you can get at every inexpensive Asian restaurant or at ALDI. A green stalk, which is also available at the florist, was used to decorate the main dishes. The creme brulee and ice cream were the only things that were good all around. The service was friendly. However, at the end we were not asked whether we were satisfied. Ambience may be a matter of taste. BUT, the restaurant in the basement is huge and loud because it's busy, which I understand ZERO. But that's just Munich city center. It's probably not enough to decorate all the tables. The place is dark and rustic (as described on the website). A make over is at least a decade overdue. All in all not inviting. There are supposed to be beautiful flowers in Polynesia 😉 The used towel paper in the toilet is piled up on the floor. The paper for use was lying around. Also outrageous! Conclusion: That's called NEPP! This only works in a city in Munich, with people who have too much money and/or no idea about good, creative cuisine. There is no other explanation for the busy restaurant. The franchising restaurant is only represented in Munich. In the USA and in Arab countries, where money falls from the sky, it seems to work. Maybe it's better there. Regardless, we are disappointed and were really ripped off.

An incredibly primitive arrogance from the staff... I have never experienced anything less friendly in Munich

This restaurant is an absolute insider tip right in the heart of Munich. The food is very extravagant and combined with the unique ambience, it is at the same time a multiple explosion of the senses. As we all know, the eye is there, and especially here you really have the feeling that you are in French Polynesia. I recommend this restaurant with five out of five stars. I've been a guest there for years and am always satisfied. The cocktail menu is particularly recommended. In my opinion they make the best cocktails in town. Even if you just feel like drinking a cocktail - you're welcome here. High quality, great service and a unique atmosphere are very important here! I can only recommend everyone to have been there once.

The classic cocktail “Mai Tai” they created is a highlight. All dishes are outstanding, but a starter of scallops, avocado and mango was simply divine.

Preis-Leistung haben sich wohl über die Jahre verschlechtert. Preisniveau hoch, Produkte eher durchschnittlich. Haben uns zB auf Salat und Cocktails gefreut. Salat war für den hohen Preis nicht besser als beim Mittagsasiaten um die Ecke. Cocktail war auch nicht prickelnd (aber natürlich Geschmackssache). Manche Dinge wie die Aufmerksamkeit des Personals können auch der Tagesform geschuldet gewesen sein. Aufgrund der Enge der Tischplatzierung mussten sich die Mitarbeiter in unserem Bereich durchzwängen (Unruhe!). Einer hat Aufmerksamkeit gezeigt, indem er wild Wasser (1 Liter - 13,80€) nachgeschenkt hat aber mit dem Kopf schon woanders war. Ganz lustig: immer wieder irren Gäste auf der Suche nach dem Ausgang in Richtung Toilette, Abhilfe will aber niemand schaffen, obwohl viel Personal anwesend war. Auch interessant: Das Restaurant hat nach Auskunft keine eigene Garderobe. Man nutzt die im EG. In einem Hotel wie dem Bayerischen Hof kostet die Garderobe 3,70€. Warum nicht gleich 3,99€? Das wirkt kleinmütig und einem solchen Hotel nicht angemessen.

Food: Ordered the sampler of Cosmo Tidbits and Singapore Noodles. Nothing on the sampler platter was good, but the Singapore Noodles were tasty (even though I couldn't detect any curry flavor which is typical of this dish). Drinks: Ordered a Mai Tai and a Tiki Puka Puka. This was hands down the worst Trader Vic style Mai Tai I've EVER had. Super unbalanced and cheap rum. The Tiki Puka Puka was strong and while more balanced than the Mai Tai, I wouldn't order it again. Service: I appreciate leisurely service, which is definitely what we got, but our server was dead inside. Clearly doesn't care about their job or employer. Atmosphere: Really the one saving grace. This place is like stepping into a time warp. It's old school tiki. The theming is well done, but could use a little love. For one, all of the light bulbs close to us were god awful yellow chartreuse LEDs and the shade above my head had a paper napkin shoved in it as a light diffuser. Price: I mean, there's no mincing words here: you're not getting what you pay for! I LOVE tiki bars, and it's sad that the potential of the place is being wasted. This is the last Trader Vic's in Europe and, well... they may go extinct here. =/

Completely disgraceful service We had to walk to the bar ourselves to order drinks! Then we still waited forever. Justifies the price 0.00000! The ambience would be nice if the service staff weren't so rude and arrogant

Hectic service (except for payment, which took a long time), lousy cocktails, mediocre food quality. Price-performance ratio has decreased significantly. Not what it used to be, won't go there anymore.

Gestern Abend war es soweit: Der German Grog Council hat sich auf ein besonderes Tiki-Erlebnis bei Trader Vic’s München gefreut. Das Setting ist wirklich beeindruckend – tropische Atmosphäre, geschichtsträchtiger Vibe und viel Liebe zum Detail im Interior Design. Doch dann hörte der Spaß auf. Die Drinks waren eine absolute Enttäuschung: Der Mai Tai (Pampero Aniversario und Blanco, Monin Orgeat) war komplett unausbalanciert und schlecht zubereitet – von Shaketechnik keine Spur. Der Barkeeper schien lustlos und unmotiviert. Der Dr. Funk of Tahiti setzte dem noch die Krone auf: eine süße Grenadine-Bombe, die eher wie Kirschsirup schmeckte als nach einem klassischen Tiki-Drink. Ein weiterer Tiefpunkt war der Prosecco unserer Begleitung – ohne jegliche Kohlensäure, vermutlich aus einer viel zu lange geöffneten Flasche. Nach Reklamation wurde der Drink halb weggekippt und nur mit frischem Prosecco aufgefüllt – ein absolutes No-Go. Optisch enttäuschte auch die Präsentation der Drinks: Riesen-Strohhalme, die gar nicht für die kleinen Double-Old-Fashioned-Gläser geeignet sind, zerstören das Gesamtbild zusätzlich. Bei vier Drinks für 70 € erwarten wir einfach mehr – vor allem bei einem so renommierten Namen wie Trader Vic’s. Wenigstens standen Papadams und Krupuk am Tisch, was den Abend nicht ganz rettete. Nach diesem Reinfall haben wir den Abend lieber auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt mit Feuerzangenbowle und später einem ehrlichen Bier ausklingen lassen. Fazit: Tolles Ambiente, aber die Drinks und der Service sind leider ein Schatten ihrer selbst.

Fantastic cocktails, bar snacks and service from Tim. Navy Grog and Mai Tai were outstanding but their Painkiller is the best I've ever had. Tim is one if the top bartenders I've seen anywhere in the world.

This is a good place for exotic dishes from Thailand, Hawaii or Tahiti with a top quality service and Captain Cook style decorating. I recommend this place for a special opportunity to celebrate a birthday for example !

I will definitely not return to this restaurant. The food descriptions on the menu look very appealing, but the reality is disappointing. I ordered the Mixed Meat, which included Fried Noodles. The fried noodles were nothing more than oily noodles on a plate. The mixed meat was also underwhelming, especially considering the high price. I couldn't finish my meal, and when the waiter noticed, they simply said, "The food is Okay" without genuinely inquiring about the quality of the food. The service was extremely slow and lacked the professionalism expected from a restaurant with a good reputation. The bathroom conditions were also poor, with an overflowing trash can and tissues scattered on the floor. Additionally, one of the sinks was clogged and unusable. While the dining area itself was OKAY, the overall experience was far from satisfactory!!!

The food is ok, but the price-performance ratio is lousy. Maybe ok for half the price, but I would never eat there again. The portions are relatively large, but there is still plenty of room for improvement in quality. The cocktails are good and, apart from the Tiki Bowl, are also reasonably priced. The service was mediocre at best, the waiter wasn't very attentive. We specifically ordered two dishes without peppers, not for fun, but because of an allergy. A dish came with peppers that could be seen from afar, and I would expect a waiter in such an establishment not to serve it but to send it straight back to the kitchen. The evening could have ended really badly. He also spilled more water when pouring than ended up in the glass. It wasn't very busy when we were there, so I have little sympathy for this negligence. The ambience is nice. All in all, in my opinion, Trader Vics lives more from its name than from the services it provides. We won't be coming back. Update: in response to the restaurant's reaction, I immediately shared all the information about my stay, including a written reservation confirmation. If there is another reaction, I will update this post again.

Meine Eltern haben hier bereits mit ihren Freunden und Familie getafelt, wir genauso. Seit 40 Jahren geht das so. Es gibt nichts Besseres nach einem Theater- oder Kinoabend. Dass Bier und Wasser so teuer sind, ist uns nie aufgefallen, weil wir nur diese fantastischen Cocktails schlürfen. Ein Muss sind die Vorspeisen. Cheesebings und Chocho und Konsorten.....lecker. Als Hauptspeise für mich alles aus dem Tandoori-Ofen. Ab 23 Uhr kommen die Nachtschwärmer. Dann wird's lauter. Viele kennen und treffen sich zufällig. Danach weiter in umliegende Bars und Clubs. Eine echte Münchner "Traditionsgaststätte" WEITER SO!

Great Hawaiian ambience, a real experience visit for special occasions, as the prices are relatively high (cocktails and small appetizers between 15-20€ each, we paid around 60€ per person and still didn't get full). Would love to come back, but next time probably just for a drink at the bar!

The atmosphere is very inviting and nice, as is the service. I particularly like the delicious dishes and dishes. I'm not a big cocktail fan, but this selection is also convincing

The service is friendly and accommodating, but the food is definitely not recommended if you have traveled a lot and are familiar with the cuisines and qualities of this world. The food is what people in Germany & the USA imagined as “exotic” in the 70s / 80s. The portions are generous, but that's about it. The prices are completely overpriced in relation to what you get in terms of cuisine. Certainly never again and not a recommendation either!

Price performance wasn't right for us. We would have expected more for the price. 120€ Peking duck, duck Tasty but not enough pancakes, plates and therefore everything quickly gets cold and rather bland. Iberico pork could just as easily be found in every pub, only with spaetzle instead of rice. Map overwhelmed us. The ambience and location are great. Overall, it's more of a relic from ancient times. You can get a lot better in Munich for the money.

Cocktails tasty but not very unusual (apart from the vessels). Priced high for that. We can't judge food, but we haven't heard anything good 😄. It was really nice to have been there, but it's not on the list of recommendations for a visit.

The archetypal tiki bar. They invented the mai tai. While everything might not be how it all shaked out over time, they're still fantastic and worth visiting. Definitely try the Crab Rangoon, but open them first because they're hot inside. All the drinks are delicious, so find the one you're most interested in.

Pathetic! From food to service to the menu- don’t burn a hole in your pocket being f fooled by the grandeur. Servers are all seniors and service is non existent ! Very disappointed with th e food and drinks; no vegan, hardly any vegetarian options and just one fish!!! Very expensive and yet distasteful food even though the manager who showed us in bragged a lot. The servers gave no serving experience or suggestions and were the worst I ve ever come across. Elaborate menu but the server was discouraging. What we ordered was not palatable enough, even though the menu seemed very tall and impressive but lacked lustre. Wont recommend. 👎

Spontaneous visit after a nice film in the Cinema Lounge of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof. Fabulous, competent service with incredible speed, despite the full bar and restaurant. Cocktails with and without alcohol are simply perfect! Peking Soup | Five Chinese Spoons | Fried Won Ton....great Mai Tai Wave - Passion Cocktail - Rum Cup a pleasure Food from the Chinese clay oven, which is fired with wood, is super aromatic. Casual casual ambiance & vibe.

The last trader Vic's in Europe, treasure it! Enjoy the Mai Tai's and the beautiful interior. My favourite cocktail spot when visiting München.

We were so thrilled finding this branch as I have been to the other ones in the other countries. However, our joy drained away when the drinks arrived. They are so light in alcohol. The restaurant was almost empty and now I know the reason.

Even after the renovation, it's as homely as ever and the service and cuisine are of the highest standard.

We love the Polynesian bar, the exotic atmosphere, the legendary cocktails, and the classic snacks. We have been delighted to be able to visit Trader Vic's in Munich for years. A true tradition, with a special place in our hearts!

Magical experience at Trader Vic's for my birthday. We've been excited to visit here as the Trader Vic's in London has shut down. I informed them on the booking portal it was a birthday trip and they greeted me with a happy birthday and gave a peacock chair table. Drinks and food were excellent and service fast. As a suprise they brought some "raving" Menehunes and a candle dim sum steamer with a birthday song. We had a nice chat with the manager about tiki culture and her excellent decor (sorry to hear about the statues manhood 🫣). We look forward to coming back, I want another proper Mai tai and I forgot to show off my rare Trader Vic's antique glasses (Port and Starboard glasses as found in the 1972 bartenders guide) to Frau Schröder.

One of our favorite restaurants in Munich. You usually get a Beijing Duck without pre-ordering it (at least on weekends). Cocktails are fabulous! Menu could be a little less extensive as it's often hard to choose. Take the Mian Khan (DIY pepper leaves as your appetizer...you won't regret it).

the ambience is great. the location is central, directly below the hotel. the service is terrible! The drinks are becoming more and more expensive and there isn't even much in the glasses. Everything looks great, but it will be a maximum of 0.3l. Probably one or two drinks even less There are snacks with the drinks free of charge

Nice location with great cocktails

We drove over 12 hours to visit this last remaining Trader Vic’s on European soil. Our highly anticipated visit turned into an absolute disappointment. Firstly, the ambiance of this venue is absolutely great. It’s modern escapism in its finest form. The table setting is a bit dated but this adds to the nostalgic atmosphere in my opinion. The people were friendly and service was quite alright. Secondly, the menu is diverse. ‘Okay’ meals and portions but a bit overpriced. Last but not least. The cocktailmenu was really extensive in this birthplace of tiki cocktails. We went for the original Mai Tai (obviously), the Koana Puffer, Tiki Puka Puka and Vic’s Itch. Our enthusiasm took a complete nosedive the moment the cocktails were delivered to the table. The overall presentation of the drinks was disappointing. If there even was a garnish, they used canned fruits and weak mint sprigs. One ‘miss’ is completely possible and probably personal, but all four cocktails were badly balanced and bland. Quite frankly these were some of the worst cocktails we’ve ever had. During our stay in Munich we’ve had better cocktails in other, ‘lesser’ bars. Tiki drinks that were well-balanced, flavourful and well-presented. In all honesty I think old Vic would turn around in his grave knowing what is going on in the Munich branche. I’ve seen that the venue is currently undergoing renovation. I hope they take this time to review their menu and bring back honour to Vic’s legacy.

Trader Vic’s in Munich is a true institution and offers an exotic experience in the middle of the Bavarian capital. Hidden in the basement of the Bayerischer Hof, when you enter you are immersed in another world - a world full of tropical atmosphere, Polynesian decorations and a touch of adventure. The furnishings are a fascinating mix of traditional South Sea elements, with lots of bamboo, carved wooden masks and exotic plants. The dimmed lighting and warm ambience immediately create a relaxed yet exciting atmosphere. The menu is as diverse as the ambience, offering a unique mix of Pacific, Asian and international dishes. Particularly noteworthy are the diverse tiki cocktails for which Trader Vic’s is world-famous. Classics like the Mai Tai or the Navy Grog not only taste great, but are also artfully prepared and served. The service at Trader Vic’s is attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The employees know how to take guests on a culinary journey and are happy to provide advice if they have any questions about the sometimes unusual dishes and drinks. A highlight is certainly the option to have the food prepared directly on an open fire, which gives the whole thing an additional exotic touch. Overall, Trader Vic's in Munich is a perfect place for anyone who wants to escape everyday life and be transported into another world. Whether for a romantic dinner, a convivial evening with friends or a special occasion - Trader Vic's offers an experience that you won't quickly forget.

Great location with tasty cocktails. In our opinion, the price of the water, €13.80, was clearly too much. Nevertheless, it was a nice evening and we would like to come back.

If you want to celebrate a special day, TRADER VIC'S is highly recommended as it is definitely a special place. The food was excellent and we had incredibly friendly and very attentive service. The prices are not cheap, but okay for the Ambielt (hot lemon washcloths to clean your hands after the starter, ...), the quality of the food and the sufficient quantity to fill you up. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Das Trader Vic's hat mich rundum überzeugt. Das Essen war von hervorragender Qualität und sehr lecker. Die Bedienung war freundlich und aufmerksam, was den Besuch zu einem angenehmen Erlebnis machte. Die Atmosphäre im Restaurant ist wirklich schön und trägt zum Gesamterlebnis bei. Man fühlt sich sofort wohl und kann den Abend in vollen Zügen genießen. Insgesamt kann ich das Trader Vic's nur empfehlen. Ich freue mich schon auf meinen nächsten Besuch!

A culinary highlight in Munich! Trader Vic's convinced me completely. The food was of excellent quality and very tasty. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the visit a pleasant experience. The atmosphere in the restaurant is really nice and adds to the overall experience. You immediately feel comfortable and can enjoy the evening to the fullest. Overall, I can only recommend Trader Vic's. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Don't waste your time or money here. Food is terrible, drinks are poor, and service staff are elderly and frankly clueless. Orders taken wrongly, food not replaced to meet expectations, and they still want to bill in full and expect to be paid a tip. Frankly a total joke of a place. Surprising that this exists in such a high end hotel as I would have expected it to shut down long ago.

Cocktails are okay, but didn't blow me away, nor did the service. Exciting location if you feel like going on vacation. 🍹🌴

Una joya escondida en Munich. Fuimos aquí a tomar cócteles. Buena selección de cócteles de ron. El tema polinesio parece auténtico. Recomiendo encarecidamente las olas Mai Tai y Banana Dream. Personal amable. Sin duda volvería aquí.

Good food, cocktails okay, there is clear potential for improvement in the service. Friendly, no question, but short and not very attentive. In the cocktails there are deductions for the canned fruit used (pineapple and peaches). Is in stark disproportion to the asking price. I missed the Polynesian touch when eating. Pan-Asian would be a more apt term for the culinary direction. The ambience seems dusty and outdated, but overall everything is clean and in good shape. I strongly recommend reconsidering the use of cardboard straws and plastic skewers (with questionable motifs). Overall, a sobering experience. At 120 euros per nose, my expectations were far exceeded.

The atmosphere was good and the decoration was also nice. But the food is just not Polynesian. It's a essential a normal Chinese/Asian restaurant with nice decorations and nice cocktails. The food was a similar standard to an general Asian restaurant, but three times the price. The service was fine.

We were thrilled by the variety and taste of the dishes. The service was simply great, very friendly and professional. This restaurant will definitely be our new favorite place.

Ich war mit einer Freundin im Trader Vic’s, das erste Mal und gleichzeitig das letzte mal. Die Einrichtung erinnert ein bisschen an verschiedene James Bond Szenen wie der Mann mit dem Goldenen Colt (70er Jahre). Wir haben diverse Vorspeisen bestellt, alle kamen kalt a den Tisch. Die überteuerten Dim Sum schmeckten wie TK Ware und waren geschmacksneutrale Teigtaschen. Das Hähnchen war einfach nur alt und trocken und war ungenießbar. Für knappe 40 Euro habe ich das beste Curry für München erwartet aber leider ein Schnapspinchen mit Reis bekommen und eine Handvoll Hähnchen geschnitzeltes in Curry Soße, was absolut nicht den teueren Preis rechtfertigt. Auch nach unserer Beschwerde nach dem schlechten Essen, gab es kein Entgegenkommen vom Restaurant. Nicht zu Empfehlen!!!!

Totally terrible from service to food to drinks to the rip off price. You'd think that since opening in 1971, they'd learn now to make some of their classic dishes and cocktails but it was terrible. Most of the staff looked like they may even have been there since they opened. Tried a Singapore Sling and a Mai Tai and both were undrinkable... way to much sour mix in both. The dim sum was terrible and rubbery. The tempura was more like a heavy beer batter and did not come with tempura sauce but the bulk standard sweet red Thai chili sauce and wasabi avocado dip. The Peking duck was horrific. The skin was rubbery, the meat was a dark charcoal color, and the cucumbers were slimy and and on the verge of going bad. The staff couldn't have cared less. Was almost like it was a nuisance that we were interrupting them by being there. They also didn't check back after delivering the meal or clear the table when we were done. A complete at total waste of money and time. One star is too generous.

I've been eating here every now and then for over 40 years and it's always been. fantastic. Fabulous food, captivating cocktails, top service! You feel like you're in Hawai, Tahiti, Samoa... simply in the South Seas... Highly recommended!

Wir hatten uns sehr auf den Besuch im Trader Vics gefreut. Leider gibt es ja in Deutschland kein anderes mehr. Vorab gesagt, die Cocktails waren sehr lecker, der Barkeeper sehr bemüht und freundlich. Schade, dass die Deko auf fast jedem Cocktial gleich aussieht. Vom Essen waren wir hingegen sehr enttäuscht. Mit Vorfreude auf die Pekingente (120 für 2 Personen) haben wir 2 leckere Vorspeisen gegessen. Die Pekingente war aber eine große Enttäuschung. Die Qualität der Ente war sehr gut. Aber für eine Pekingente viel zu dick geschnitten, nicht so knusprig wie ich es von früher kannte. Die Hoisin Sauce war so dünnflüssig, dass sie nicht kleben blieb (habe mir dann eine andere bestellt) und die Fladen waren eher Pfannkuchen, die beim Rollen (auch vorher schon) immer gerissen sind. Das Ambiente immer noch sehr schön, aber der Service leider auch nicht mehr in den schönen Gewändern, sehr schade!

Traditional Polynesian restaurant with selected dishes of a very high standard. Staff very friendly and experienced and very nice. Good thing: there is no WiFi!

We went to Trader Vics again after a long time. The lady in service gave the impression that she was just doing a job. You can't say unfriendly, but friendliness also looks different. My non-alcoholic cocktail was very good. My husband's Mai Tai was more ice cream than anything else. The positive thing about it is that after the ice cream is melted, you get a free glass of water 😀 We'd rather go somewhere else in the future and wish the operator continued good business and all the best

It was a lovely evening with delicious food and very courteous service. We ordered a menu for 10 people, everything worked so well and was really a great enough menu. We'd love to come back!

The cocktails are always a pleasure. The spare ribs are also very tasty and unfortunately always too few.

I wanted to celebrate my birthday there because I had very fond memories of the restaurant from before...but unfortunately I have to say it has lost its shine. In the middle restaurant area where we sat there was very uncomfortable bright light and the decor has been the same for 10 years. However, the cocktails were very tasty and the quality of the food was ok. Unfortunately, a mouse appeared during the meal and ran past our table all evening. What was shocking was that the staff made no attempt to catch her, even though I always said: Now she walked this way and now she's over there... the staff felt uncomfortable and apologized, but it was She still didn't seem to care much. They said that the problem was already known. However, for a restaurant that belongs to the Bayerischer Hof, I expect something like this to be handled differently. Then you just have to close it for a while to fix it. It doesn't work at all. Feeling uneasy, we ate quickly and wanted to leave. Unfortunately, the well-intentioned birthday dessert didn't help either. I will therefore no longer visit Trader Vic's.

So when it comes to the cocktails and the dedicated, attentive service, I can only confirm the numerous positive reviews here... when it came to the "Polynesian" / Hawaiian food, however, we had to say that our dishes were more like normal Chinese-Asian cuisine... and at a rather average level…. A pity….

Unfortunately a very very bad restaurant. The ambience in a dark basement isn't particularly great either... Plus it's way too expensive..🤢

The restaurant is beautifully designed, the food was good, and the service definitely needs improvement. One of the appetizers we ordered was forgotten and when asked, the answer was short and succinct, it was understood differently and no more appetizers were coming. It's a shame, that was our last visit here.

We had dinner at Trader Vic’s and really enjoyed it. The ambience, the music, the service and the food were truly outstanding. The food is a mix of Asian, Hawaiian and European food. The meat was perfect, the vegetables were crunchy and the sauces were spicy. A real pleasure. The Mai Thai was perfect and went very well with the food. We were thrilled and will definitely visit Trader Vic's again.

Super leckeres Essen, tolle Cocktails und wunderbarer Service. Essen wird zum Erlebnis. Vorspeisen sind unbeschreiblich lecker. Hauptspeisen ebenfalls. Kenne keine bessere asiatische Küche in München. Lieber seltener Geld in überteuerten Restaurants mit geringer Qualität ausgeben, dafür einfach Mal wieder einen tollen Abend hier zu erleben. Besonders zu empfehlen? Ausprobieren, bisher immer begeistert gewesen. Für den kleinen Hunger, an der Bar gibt es eine kleine Barcard

The waiter's attention was exceptional, he spoke to us in Spanish. The food 10 points completely recommended. The price is high but the service and the taste of the food are totally worth it. A highly recommended place to dine.

The beautiful decor has faded a bit and could use some work. The atmosphere is friendly and the service courteous. Time has passed but unfortunately no culinary evolution. As a result, the sauces are cafeteria-style! are often the same for different dishes (lamb and pork). The cooking of scallops is overdone and the lobster is sorely missing from the menu. 80€/person without wine seems exaggerated to me. This wouldn't be the case if the kitchen was more modern.

Interesting concept… a lot of show… but nothing more. Good enough for Munich but in cosmopolitan cities you would have a hard time with such fast food - it's actually a shame but for this concept the chef is a secondary factor that has to be replaceable. Of course, you can't meet everyone's taste with a franchise concept like this, especially since everyone in the chain has to earn money. The staff really give their all and the kitchen also tries to get the best out of everything with little effort. Maybe our expectations were too high. For authentic food you have to stay at home or just don't have high expectations. If you are more interested in the appearance and the drinks and are not that familiar with Asian cuisine... you should still like it here. Based on the response to my 3 star rating, I increased it to 4.

Die negativen Bewertungen haben uns animiert das Restaurant zu testen, zumal uns die Speisekarte sehr angesprochen hat. Von der Begrüssung bis zur Verabschiedung wurden wir sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend bedient. Wir genossen vom herrlichen Drink zum Starter (VegiFrühlingsrollen/SesamTofuRolls), weiter beim 1.Gang (AvoMangoShrimps-Salat), zum Hauptgang (TigerPrawns mit WokGemüse) bis zum Dessert (PinaCocosCocktail) das vorzügliche Essen, in einer spannenden Lokalität und auch Komposition. Fazit: Wir können die negativen Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen. Es war alles wunderbar vom Start bis zur Verabschiedung. Das Qualität seine Preis hat, ist gut so und soll auch so sein. Zudem soll das Restaurant auch was verdienen. Wir können das Restaurant nur Empfehlen und freuen uns schon auf den Vergleich im Sommer mit dem SchwesterRestaurant in Atlanta.

The cocktails are really delicious, obviously not cheap in terms of price, but it's really worth trying a few out here! We each drank 3 different ones and were really impressed with each one. The glasses in which the cocktails were served were also really fancy and unusual, so the cocktail tasted even better! Our spot in the middle of the aisle wasn't the best or most comfortable, but the friendliness of the staff made up for it!

We were there for dinner and loved it. Super friendly and attentive staff in an exceptional location. It almost felt like a vacation. The starters are unusually seasoned and very, very tasty. Our main courses had great sauces and were also very tasty. It's not cheap, but the price/performance ratio is really okay - 4 shrimps, 4 scallops and 2 pieces of fish on the plate are worth the money. The portions were big enough for us to be really full. After a starter and a main course per person, unfortunately there was absolutely no room left for dessert :-( Special highlight: the bombastic green papaya salad - we will definitely come back for that alone (and not only)!

It’s was not up to the standard of the other trader Vic’s branches the team was not welcoming at all specially at the bar very strange !!!! As if they are forced to serve guests # Munich branch decorations was authentic # good place for friends and family to meet but service and hospitality has to be revised

We were in the bar this evening full of anticipation. No greeting from the staff. The bartender looked like he didn't feel like doing anything. Unfortunately we didn't feel well. Our drinks... I've had far better in "cheaper" bars. Drinks here were slapped on the counter, no small talk, nothing. There was also no farewell. I've never experienced anything like this before. You can save yourself. Especially the money. Don't go!!!

Wir haben nichts gegessen, nur Cocktails und Bier zu uns genommen. Cocktails waren gut, dass so etwas in einer Hotelbar teuer ist es nachvollziehbar. Ärgerlich: Flasche Mineralwasser 13,80 €. Das muss doch wirklich nicht sein.

Die Salzwassergarnelen und die Jakobsmuscheln waren unglaublich fein,- die Bedienung war sehr angenehm, aufmerksam und unaufdringlich, allerdings war die Musik sehr laut und störend..
