The Grill in Bremen

Dining above the rooftops of Bremen is a dream! They escorted us to our table, accommodated our fear of heights, and moved us to a table in the middle of the room. Excellent advice on drinks and food choices, with special praise definitely going to the kitchen. The "family-style meal to share" was excellent. Even in the States, we've rarely been served a steak grilled to perfection.

Full marks! The 18th floor at Europahafen is a great location in itself. We immediately fell in love with this restaurant's modern and stylish decor. It offers a fantastic view of the city. We first had an aperitif at the bar upstairs and were then escorted to our table. The prices are high, but so is the quality of the food served. Our steak was "world-class," truly delicious. The staff was motivated and friendly, and everything else added up to the pleasant ambiance. Our dessert was a fitting finale: chocolate cake with white chocolate. Delicious 😋 We'll definitely be back! Thank you

We ate at The Grill Upper River on June 19, 2025. The new location is breathtaking, very tastefully decorated, and offers a 360-degree view of Bremen. The tables are beautifully set, similar to the previous one in Vahr. Unfortunately, the service isn't that good. The restaurant was 1/4 full. We ordered 8 shrimp as an appetizer and 1 pimientos. The shrimp were of good quality, but the sticky rice underneath wasn't quite right. Very tasteless, so I'd rather have a small bouquet of seasonal salad. There was a hair in the pimientos, which can happen. They had a new pimientos and they removed them from the bill. I thought that was quite fair. The main course was 2 steakburgers with fries, truffle spaghetti, and salmon. They didn't ask how the steakburgers were cooked; it was obvious. The fries that came with them were a disgrace for a place like this. The cheapest of the cheap. If there are no staff in the kitchen, they either need much better conventional quality, or they can quickly mash the potatoes themselves and have absolutely delicious fries. That's how it's served in every good burger joint. The sauces are ready-made; you can quickly make mayonnaise or ketchup there too. Then you don't have the pungent vinegar taste. The other food was fine. We ordered from the dessert menu... nothing came for 30 minutes. We wanted a cappuccino, but it was cold, only the cups were warm. I assume the milk wasn't heated properly. The cappuccino worked the second time. What I found positive was that the waiter didn't charge for the cappuccino there either. All the drinks ordered at other tables couldn't be assigned to the tables. They were asked every time at each table whether something had been ordered there. This obviously shouldn't happen in such a high-class restaurant. As a thank you, the waiter gave us a scented candle. If the waiter had been at our table from the beginning, things probably wouldn't have gone so wrong. I was really keen to train the team... Drink sales could definitely have been higher if there had been more waiters on hand. Proper training and task allocation are needed. Perhaps the restaurant manager should also be on-site if the location has just opened.

I was always very impressed by the meat and visited The Grill regularly, at least twice a year. This week it was that time again. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Prices have since increased again, while kitchen performance appears to have declined: I ordered a 400g rump steak cooked medium. An apparently much smaller piece arrived. After the service asked in the kitchen, it was confirmed that due to a mistake there was only a 300g rump steak on my plate. The service promised that a new piece could be brought quickly and, after asking, they took the plate back with me. After about 5 minutes a new piece came on. However, this was obviously not a rump steak, but rather full of fat and completely raw. I complained about that too and was taken back to the kitchen by the service. After another 10 minutes my 400g rump steak arrived. That in turn was almost cooked through... But I didn't complain about it anymore in order to save the evening to some extent, because my wife had to eat alone in the meantime. “If only I had kept the first piece…..” I have to give the service credit that everything was done to make it right. I received all of the side dishes I ordered fresh and warm and we were invited for dessert. That means the service was top! Conclusion: Anyone who calls for such prices cannot afford such a farce when it comes to the core product, in this case meat. Mistakes can always happen. However, the cooking levels were so wrong - even my wife's meat wasn't really as ordered - while the restaurant wasn't even close to 20% full. So it couldn't have been due to stress in the kitchen. It's a shame - I always really enjoyed eating there. There was nothing better in Bremen. This era is over. 04/24/25 I was back now. This time everything worked out. The Nebraska Tenderloin was great.

Still the place to eat the best steak in Bremen.

An outstanding steak experience at The Grill Our visit to The Grill in Bremen was simply fantastic. The atmosphere is modern and cozy, and the service was extremely friendly and professional. An absolute highlight was the beef fillet Sheriff’s Cut 500g – a perfectly prepared piece of meat, incredibly tender and juicy with an intense, natural taste. It was really a pleasure! We really enjoyed the evening and can only recommend The Grill. We will definitely come back and are already looking forward to the new location.

Wir waren heute das erste Mal in dem Restaurant und leider sind wir sehr enttäuscht worden. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stand nicht in Relation. 20€ für Pommes ( die billigsten aus dem Großhandel) wurden statt Parmesan mit einem billigen Käse überbacken. Der Trüffel war garnicht raus zu schmecken. Das 200g Filet war geschmacklich absolut nicht gerechtfertigt. Vom Salat wollen wir est garnicht reden. Immerhin war das Personal sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

Wow! Great ambience, service at the table that is unobtrusive and perfect, sensational food and excellent wine. Nothing more is actually possible. Highly priced but worth every cent.

We were thrilled! We have tried steak in many restaurants and none were as good as here. Without exaggeration, it was the best steak we have eaten in the area. The steaks aren't cheap, but definitely worth the money. The homemade onion bread to start with is a dream. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The ambience also deserves 5 stars. So we can only recommend it, it was a very nice evening.

Very good restaurant. Excellent service and very nice decoration - all wood on walls and ceiling. Not a very extensive menu but very high quality. The location makes it difficult to get there.

The atmosphere is very good and you are welcomed very well. There were three of us. We had the family platter with 300g U.S. Beef fillet and 400g U.S. Rump steak. The beef fillet was world class, rarely eaten such a good steak, while the rump steak was very poor. A bit stringy and not quite as tasty. We also ordered a 300g portion of filet mignon. That was also very good and sits between the fillet and the rump steak. The service was very nice and accommodating but unfortunately not well trained. Neither wine nor meat questions could be answered satisfactorily. But with these high prices it is a must in my opinion. Therefore only 3 stars. Conclusion: The beef fillet is great, the ambience and friendliness also score points, but not every piece of meat was perfect and the service needs to get more familiar with it.

We were here after our civil wedding and were able to end the evening perfectly. Quiet and undisturbed, just the way we like it. Unique service and incredibly delicious food. The drinks were also great. We'd love to come back.

The starters and desserts are highly recommended, but the steaks are of disappointing quality and simply too expensive. We won't be coming back again.

Had a really tasty and perfectly cooked steak. It was tasty but not something I would come back for at these prices of over 150 euros per steak. Other steakhouses offer comparable quality at significantly lower prices. It's a great place to sit here. Service is first class

Third time we have come to The Grill, but this time it was a bit of a disappointment. For €780 for 4 people, you’d expect premium cuts of meat. The 400gr ribeye steaks were actually both semi dry and rather tough. Previous experiences at this place have been very good. Yet again, taken the hefty price into consideration, we’d expect better cuts of meat. Also we ordered the Barolo Coppo 2018, but they were sold out and served the 2019 which is a cheaper wine and not as good rated. Yet the price remained the same. Not too thrilled about that either. I think we simply might have been unlucky this time, but with such a price tag, there shouldn’t be any excuses.

From the great ambience to the friendly and attentive staff and the fabulous food, the restaurant is a great experience. A clear recommendation when visiting Bremen. We wish the restaurant and the employees all the best and hope to see you again. Kind regards R. and C

Yesterday I was at The Grill again - and thrilled with the meat as always! Perfectly grilled fillet and very good, attentive service!:-))) I'm actually a steak lover and I'm always amazed at how perfectly the meat is grilled in "The Grill"!

The food was excellent, which is to be expected given the prices. The dessert (white chocolate cake) was amazing...the best thing I've ever been served.

I entered without a reservation and was warmly greeted and welcomed. The ambience and furnishings are really very successful. And let’s start ordering: burgers with sweet potatoes! A very tasty, homemade and warm onion bread with butter is served in advance (free of charge). The burger was very juicy and tasted really good. What I really liked was the temperature of the food. It's still warm. This is rarely the case, especially with burgers. The service staff was very friendly and accommodating. And now the point: it was simply a bit too expensive. I had a burger with a side dish and a drink for €50.

Ich war jetzt mit der Family 3x dort essen. Was mich immer wieder aufs Neue anspricht ist das gediegene Ambiente. Ein wirklich sehr gemütliches und stilvolles Restaurant mit Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Des Weiteren der sehr aufmerksame und kinderfreundliche Service. Die Kinder wurden sofort direkt angesprochen von den Service Kräften und man hatte wirklich das Gefühl willkommen zu sein. Professionelle Servicekräfte sind das echt das A und O im Restaurant. Das merke ich immer wieder. Das Essen ist aus meiner Sicht top, wirklich gut und es gab bei unseren Besuchen nichts zu beanstanden. Gut, für eine vierköpfige Familie muss man dann mit Tipp auch so ca. 200-300 Euro einrechnen. Je nach dem was man gerne dazu trinken möchte kann es natürlich nach oben gehen. Aber uns war es das jeweils wert. Service, Ambiente und Essen stimmen, alles eher Oberklasse da muss man das eben bezahlen.

Für den Preis der etwas gehobeneren Klasse bekommt man definitiv auch was !! Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und waren sehr zufrieden 👌👌

Das Restaurant ist schön und die Athmospähre angenehm. Leider ist das Essen mehr gut gewollt als gut gemacht. Bei quasi jedem einzelnen Gericht gibt es ein Defizit, das in dieser Preiskategorie nicht bestehen sollte. Die Pfeffersauce war zu dünn und dementsprechend in Kombination mit dem Fleisch kaum zu schmecken, das Gemüse und verschiedene andere Beilagen waren zu wenig gesalzen, die Black Tiger Prawns geschmacklos, das Carpcaccio war trocken, da kaum Öl vorhanden war (auch nicht zum selbst ölen), die Sour Cream enthielt nur eine homöpathische Dosis an Schnittlauch, die Steaks schienen nicht nach Restaurant-Standard zubereitet (Braten, mit Knoblauch und Rosmarin parfümieren, mit Butter übergießen), etc etc etc. Das T-Bone-Steak zu über 100€ hatte einen praktisch nicht existenten Anteil an Filet, so dass man sich ernsthaft fragen musste, ob es vorher entfernt wurde, um es seperat zu verkaufen. Der Kellner sah sich nicht in der Lage, es vom Knochen abzutrennen, da es seiner Ansicht nach zu klein hierfür war. Insgesamt war der Besuch sein Geld nicht wert. Es war zwar alles "Ok", aber kein einziges Gericht war in einer Form zubereitet, die in dieser Preisklasse angemessen wäre. Die Nachspeisen zu 1x€+ schienen Tiefkühlware zu sein. [Edit] Ergänzend möchte ich noch anmerken, dass bei Verkauf von Steaks aus den USA, die für über 200€ pro Stück angeboten werden, der USDA-Qualitätsgrad mit angegeben werden sollte. Für diesen Preis ist ausschließlich "Prime" angemessen, und man darf davon ausgehen, wer "Prime" anbietet, der gibt es auch an, daher wird es wohl eher keins gewesen sein. "Nebraska" oder was auch immer tatsächlich angegeben wurde, ist nichts weiter als Blenderei. Ebenso ist ein Wagyu ohne konkrete Angabe der Gütestufe nichts weiter als Bauernfängerei. Im Fazit, der Eindruck drängt sich auf, dass das Restaurant seine Gäste für dumm verkaufen möchte und den Eindruck erwecken "hoher Preis = Qualität", wobei die anerkannten Qualitätsstufen bewusst verschwiegen werden und die sonstige Güte zumindest meinem Anspruch nicht gerecht wurde. [EDIT 2]: Angesichts des Gesamtpreises von über 700€ für drei Stücke Fleisch (ohne Filet) und einige Beilagen habe ich meine Bewertung des Essens von zwei auf einen Stern abgesenkt. Preis/Leistung stehen einfach in keinem tolerablen Verhältnis.

Köstlich schmöchtlich Leckeres Essen. Weltklasse Steaks und wunderschöne Atmosphäre. Preislich natürlich sehr angehoben aber das ist deutlich bemerkbar an der Qualität des Essens. Für Feiern oder Anlässe auch super geeignet !

Nach langer Zeit wieder dort zum Essen gewesen. Für mich immer noch das mit Abstand beste Steak Restaurant in Bremen! Wir haben unten gesessen und leider war der Platz sehr laut. Alles in Allem hatten wir einen sehr schönen Abend bei guten Getränken, einer super Vorspeise, phänomenalen Hauptgang und sehr leckerem Dessert.

Bin seit Jahren sehr gerne im The Grill. Ich wurde noch nie enttäuscht, der Service ist immer super und das Fleisch ist exzellent. Außerdem bekommt man immer leckeres Zwiebelbrot als Vorspeise.

Das Essen ist kurz gesagt eine 10/10. was dies aber noch übertrifft ist ein unglaublicher Service den ich so noch nicht in Bremen und umzu erlebt habe. Speziell ein junger und dynamischer Kellner der auf alle Wünsche eingeht kann ich an der Stelle nur loben.

Einfach wunderbar. Das Steak on point. Die Beilagen frisch und lecker. Der Service — makellos. Wir waren heute zum ersten Mal da und hatten einen tollen Abend. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Also vom Service hätte ich mir mehr Lebhaftigkeit erwartet und das Essen war auch nicht so der Hit.

Wie bewertet man etwas, worüber man (positiv) sprachlos ist. Einfach Spitzenklasse rundum.

Wunderbares Steak gehabt, Beilagen enorm schmackhaft, nur die grünen Bohnen fielen da etwas ab. Schade auch, dass man keine bessere Bierauswahl hat. Aber man ist ja für das Steak da. :-)

Hammer Essen, super Service , immer wieder

Die besten Steaks 🥩 der Stadt, eher sogar in ganz Deutschland würde ich sagen. Premium Fleisch, sehr leckere Beilagen und ein richtig freundlicher, schneller und zuvorkommender Service.

Es passt einfach Alles! Das Ambiente, das Essen und der Service!! Durfte meinen Geburtstag im "The Grill" im kleinen Kreis feiern und mit einem hervorragenden, schmackhaften Steak meinen Bauch vollschlagen! Immer wieder gerne! Vielleicht schaffe ich es beim nächsten Mal auf die Empore.😏

Das beste Stück Fleisch, was ich je gegessen habe! Etwas teuer, aber jeden Cent wert! Kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!!!!

Wir besuchen „The Grill“ in Bremen schon seit einigen Jahren und waren immer sehr zufrieden, obwohl die Preise tendenziell grenzwertig hoch waren. Nach unserem gestrigen Besuch verbleibt jedoch eine Unzufriedenheit. Zunächst vorweg, der Service und das Ambiente waren wie immer top. Die Kritik bezieht sich im Ergebnis auf die Speisen und die Preisgestaltung. Für 5 Stangen grünen Spargels, 14,00 EUR zu zahlen passt nicht, insbesondere da dieser letztlich nur kurz angegrillt wird und keine aufwändige Zubereitung stattfindet. Was im Ergebnis jedoch zu der Enttäuschung führte war das Dessert. Es war eine Tarte Tartin angeboten. Serviert wurde ein Convinience Produkt, was mit einer Tarte Tartin überhaupt keine Ähnlichkeit ( z.B. keinerlei Karamell-Schicht vorhanden) aufwies und leider exakt so schmeckte, wie der TK Apfelstrudel von Koppenrath und Wiese. Wenn dann berücksichtigt wird, das wir ohne Getränke pro Person ca. 100 EUR zahlten, ist leider ein extrem schaler Gesamteindruck verblieben. Bei einer solchen Preisgestaltung erwarte ich tatsächlich etwas anderes.

Das Essen war sensationell, der Service an unserem Tisch war sehr gut. Der Mitarbeiter war freundlich, lustig und hatte immer ein Lächeln im Gesicht!!! Man hat gemerkt, dass er Freude an seinem Job hat . Ich habe Fisch gegessen und dieser war wirklich ein Geschmackserlebnis!!! The Grill ist wirklich im gehobenen Preissegment, aber für besondere Anlässe sehr zu empfehlen!!! Gerne wieder ☺️🌸

An der Qualität und Zubereitung ist nichts auszusetzen. Aber in dieser Preisklasse sollte es das gewisse etwas sein und das stellte sich leider nicht ein.

Wir saßen als Paar nebeneinander an einem gerade so reingequetschten Tisch, was für mich ein No Go ist. Das Steak war zwar seeehr weich, aber trotzdem nicht gerade Geschmacksintensiv bzw. gut gewürzt, es war also nur ok... Mein Mann macht es geschmacklich besser. Man kann sich ja als gehobenes Restaurant verkaufen, aber dann muss man dem Gast auch mehr bieten. Die Karte von mir ist auseinander gefallen und war zu knapp gehalten und es war für eine kleine Personenanzahl viel zu laut. Wenn man für ein gutes Steak gutes Geld zahlt, ist das für mich kein Problem, aber die Preise für die Beilagen schon. Die Beilagen waren nicht besser oder schlechter als bei einem Landgasthof. Dafür waren die Portionen der Beilagen winzig und absolut überteuert. Die Kellner waren sehr nett und fix, wir mussten auch nicht lange auf unser Essen warten.

Ein Traum. Anders kann man es nicht in Worte fassen.

Wunderschönes Ambiente, sehr schöne Einrichtung. Der Service ist herausragend. Hier merkt man, dass die Mitarbeiter genau wissen wie erstklassiger Service geht. Das Steak ist perfekt. Ich empfehle das US Nebraska Fleisch. Einfach top!

Tolle Location und leckeres Essen . Personal freundlich und aufmerksam

Absolute Enttäuschung. Steak war mehr durch als roh (medium rare bestellt, 3 von 6 Steaks waren nicht wie bestellt gegart) und geschmacklich auch nicht toll - schwamm quasi in Butter. Da erwartet man wesentlich mehr bei den Preisen für die Steaks. Pommes für 7.50€ aus der TK-Tüte, Ketchup und Mayo von Heinz im "edlen" 33ml Glas. Nebenan bei McDonald's schmecken die besser. Auch die Getränkepreise sind unverschämt. Beim Service hat man gemerkt wer es gelernt hat und wer nicht. Saßen draußen und es hat die ganze Zeit nach Abfluss gerochen. Von den beiden anliegenden Hauptstraßen hat man aber so viel nicht mitbekommen.

Ein MUSS für jeden Fleischliebhaber!!! Ich habe im "The Grill" das erste Mal gegessen und bin total begeistert. Tolles Ambiente, sehr gutes Fleisch, sehr guter Service - wir hatten eine sehr gute Zeit. Das machen wir bestimmt wieder!

Die Qualität, die Quantität und die Freundlichkeit des Personals überwiegen die etwas ungewöhnlich hohen Preise in jeden Fall.

Beef tartare was excellent, filet mignon cooked to perfection, all the sides were excellent, and the crème brûlée was fantastic. You definitely get your money’s worth.

The Grill is from my point of view the best restaurant in Bremen. Amazing service for gentle and qualified personnel, and amazing food. Highly recommend for the meat lovers!

Very nice restaurant with very personal service and the best steak, burger & fish that we had in Bremen so far. We visited with the whole family and it was also nice for our 8 years old son. Next time he wants to sit upstairs and he also decided that he wants to celebrate his birthday here (not sure about that). We will for sure be back and are looking forward to more awesome food soon. Absolutely recommended for everyone who likes meat ;) but I was also happy with the fish and can recommend that too.
