The food wasn't good, wasn't fresh, and wasn't seasoned well. The service was friendly, but nothing special.

Another small blanket was in my food box and shusi was not fresh and not tasty (made a long time ago and simply packed and delivered)

We tried this restaurant and were very disappointed. The food was extremely salty, regardless of which dish you ordered. There were only a few pieces of fruit and six flavors of ice cream for dessert. The server was unfriendly: As soon as we arrived, we were immediately asked for drinks, without any greeting or introduction. Shortly afterward, a waitress came over and asked the same question again. The grilled food either tasted strongly of oil or simply watery. Unfortunately, it was not a good experience overall.

A typical trick to make guests thirsty and sell expensive drinks, since they're not included in the buffet price. There were practically no desserts, just a few pieces of fruit, six flavors of ice cream, and some jelly. Everything was very poorly presented. Absolutely not worth it for €20. A waste of money – I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Great place to go and leave with you belly full and happy. Don't miss the grill option! The only thing that has been worsening over the years: the sushi. It used to be better, now it is below average.

Highly recommended, the buffet offers a wide variety of choices, including a good selection of sushi. It's also nice to have various meats (including beef, lamb, kangaroo, poultry) and fish (salmon, etc.), as well as fresh vegetables, prepared live in the evening. We were very satisfied.

The townhouse isn't exactly the prettiest setting, but the interior is very nicely designed. There's plenty of seating, and the staff are friendly and attentive. I think the food selection is very good. From sushi, soups, and a colorful mix of appetizers to a good selection of different main courses and a huge selection of ingredients for the grill, all the way to a dessert buffet. Everything is there, and the price/performance ratio is okay for me. The only downside is that the dessert buffet could use a little more attention.

Because of our guilty conscience we were offered coffee on the house, which we gratefully declined. We were offered a small bottle of liqueur as an apology.

Very disappointing - unfriendly staff and bad food My friend ordered the buffet, I ordered a single dish à la carte. Because he didn't like his food, I tried three shrimps from his plate. A very unfriendly woman from the staff immediately came and sharply pointed out to me that this was not allowed - in a tone that was completely inappropriate. My own dish arrived just three minutes after ordering and also contained shrimp, so it wasn't a "loss" for the buffet anyway. Unfortunately, my meal was also disappointing: the rice was overcooked and the taste was a disaster. Overall, a very unpleasant experience - especially because of the rude employee. We're definitely not coming back!

I like open buffet,and I was in many asian restaurants , but this was the worst . The food was absolutely not good and taste the same wether it is fish ot chicken!!! The sushi 🍣 looks like and tastes like everything but sushi!! And there is here less dishes than all other restaurants.my wife ate absolutely nothing ..and 4.5 euro for a glass of cola...REALLY The workers there are so nice and they deserving the ⭐

Very rudely treated by reception

I was really excited about visiting the Asian buffet! The staff was very friendly, always polite. This warm manner immediately put you in a good mood and made the whole atmosphere seem much more pleasant and relaxed. You really felt welcome, like you were a welcome guest. The buffet itself was also great — lots of choice, everything prepared fresh and delicious. Whether it was starters, warm dishes or desserts, there was something for everyone. You can tell that the work here is done with love and care. Overall, a really nice experience that I can only recommend to everyone! I'll definitely come back.

Worst buffet! I'm not one to write reviews, but this restaurant really made me nervous. Two of us arrived at 8:00 PM, and all the staff were busy playing on their phones. The entire buffet had very few choices, both hot and cold. The buffet was partially empty. We asked the kitchen staff if they could add some raw/cold food for the grill, but they were too busy on their phones. The grill chef also treated us rudely because my boyfriend and I were slow to give out the dishes to prepare together (maybe because he had to get back to his game quickly, that's the feeling he gave me). Let's just say we left hungry, considering it's a buffet! I definitely don't recommend it!

Fittingly, "The East" in Mannheim carries on this proud tradition, banishing diners from the light of culinary decency into a wilderness of bland mediocrity. - Food is subpar. - Not the largest selection. - Costs about €23-24, a single drink €4-5, but without drink you still have to add €1. - Manager lady literally scolded my friend for not eating the seafood fully, which in my friend's defense tasted like authentic sea plastic. They even made him pay extra for the leftovers.

This is the best Chinese buffet restaurant in the town. Ambience is great. Vast selection of meat, seafood and vegetables for the grill. Staff is friendly. Overall, highly recommend it for a great food and experience.

Angebot groß - aber Buffetspeisen, die nach 1,5 Stunden immer noch nicht genommen wurden, liegen weiterhin im Angebot und werden nicht getauscht. Wollte nach 60 min nachholen, war vom optischen Zustand (und davon abzuleitend vom zu erwartenden Geschmack) bedient und habe verzichtet. War sehr früh da, trotzdem waren die meisten Speisen allerhöchstens lau warm. Frischfleisch/-fisch und Gemüse waren eindeutig aufgetaut (selbst die Minitomaten) und schwammen im Wasser. Menü plus 1 Bier = 35€+ -> dafür bietet MA viel zu viel kulinarische Angebote, die zu 2/3 des Preises zu haben sind (und mit ziemlicher Sicherheit besser sind). Ergebnis: ENTTÄUSCHEND ! Keine Weiterempfehlung

Sehr unfreundlich Essen mangelhaft nicht aufgefüllt Toiletten waren so schmutzig und es hat sehr schlimm gerochen Geschäftsführer kam als mein Sohn ein langes Haar im Essen bemerkt hatte und war dann noch patzig nie wieder würde ich werde ich dahin gehen werde es auch nicht weiterempfehlen schade für das viele Geld das wird dort ausgegeben haben

We came to the buffet at lunchtime (weekend) and almost 50% of the dishes were served cold on the buffet. We immediately mentioned this to the service, they said it was "normal" that the food would be cold within 5 minutes. An absolute “NoGo” for us! Many of the plates were greasy and/or dirty with food leftovers from the previous guest which were not cleaned, also a “no go”! With the bill I ask whether I should actually pay for the entire buffet now that we have hardly eaten anything? Statement from service, yes. Absolutely no understanding or accommodating. Never again!

I was invited there and had a very nice - and delicious - evening. I can't understand all the negative reviews. I ate really well and the service was friendly & perfect.

The staff is friendly, but unfortunately the food was far too dry. Nothing really tasted good, except for dessert – the ice cream was okay, but ice cream almost always tastes good. Overall I wouldn't recommend it, it was an unnecessary expenditure of money.

Last Friday I was at the East with a friend for the all you can eat buffet because we were on a short trip to Mannheim. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was very tasty. I particularly liked the sushi. There was a good selection of dishes. If we come to Mannheim again, we would love to come back for dinner.

Marché used to be here and I really want Marché. My father and I were here several times back then. That was his place. Paradeplatz and Marché. Then Marché was closed. Now. Since I've been living in Mannheim again since the summer of 2021, I've seen myself walking past here. Today I thought, okay, I'll sit here and remember what was, how it was, how it felt and how it feels to be here now. Thank you for the good service and friendliness.

I ordered mapo tofu from here, which was actually inedible. It tasted absolutely bad. The duck was slightly better but I have never had drier meat. Cannot recommend this place for anyone interested in delicious food, way too many corners cut.

I really like The East. It is very affordable for the selection and quality of the food. There is the typical "Chinese" buffet food, but also steamed gyozas, Korean kimchi and a selection of sushi. The Mongolian grill, where you can put together your own selection of fish, meat and vegetables, also offers a wide selection. Including large shrimps and rare species of fish. I was there several times for lunch and dinner when I lived in the neighboring town. The lunch buffet is cheaper than in the evening, but there is also a smaller selection, especially of sushi (then there are maki and California rolls and the like). In the evening it costs around €20, but for that you get a wide selection of different nigiri. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is elegant. In general, the atmosphere is more elegant and romantic in the evening than at lunchtime, but that's not really a problem. Reservations are generally not necessary as there is a lot of seating, unless you come with a large group of people. There is also a grand piano in the entrance area that I have played several times.

I had dinner at this restaurant with a friend. We ordered a drink and a buffet. We had to wait a long time at the beginning of our visit, and the employee was downright horrified when I wanted to pay straight away because we were in a hurry. A language barrier made communication even more difficult; Despite repeating it several times, our request was not understood. The employee spoke to us several times during our stay in an unpleasant tone and asked if my friend wanted to eat something. To make matters worse, our plates were snatched right from under our noses without asking and the staff constantly walked around us, creating a very tense atmosphere. People stared at your hands while you ate, which made the experience even more unpleasant.

The price-performance ratio is absolutely not given here. In summary: A visit to this restaurant is a waste of time and money. The rude service, the constant observation and the bad food make this restaurant absolutely not recommended. I will definitely never come back and advise everyone to give this restaurant a wide berth.

Clean, spacious, cozy, friendly service staff and a nice view from the 1st floor of the Paradeplatz if you sit outside in summer. Good selection at the buffet. I even eat sushi here! There are restaurants with even more choice but here the quality is good, which is important to me. I really enjoy coming here.

You can just come in here without a reservation. Lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner buffet from 5:30 p.m. to 10/11 p.m. Lots of choice, including everything that goes into the buffet. Buffet = all you can eat. We were really happy here, everything tasted good, including the homemade drinks. I/we are now regular customers here. Employees always greet you in a friendly manner and you have a seat of your choice. Simply to recommend.

Visited thrice already Dinner Buffet/Abendsbuffet. Difficult for Pure vegetarian, easy choice for eggetarians, huge advantage for non-vegetarians and sea food lovers. Customized live grill is possible.

We were here before and back then it was totally ok. Whatever has happened since then, today's meal (April 17, 2024, buffet) was really bad. (First of all: the staff was OK) The fried food tasted of nothing except salt with consistency, spring rolls were tasteless and limp, the fried seafood was over salted, sweet and sour just wasn't sweet and sour. I couldn't eat it, but I'm not picky. The sushi was edible (but still didn't taste better than Rewe supermarket sushi), although the tempura wasn't really cooked through. Means: Salmonella danger. The prawn chips at the end were the highlight of it all. 😅 We paid 20€, left a bunch of leftover food (and for me that's the real reason why I'm writing here. I hate leaving leftover food)... If you want Chinese, you'd better go to "Kung Fu" on Fressgasse. There it's half the price and 100x tastier.
