The ASH Köln Hahnenstraße in Köln

I was here again last night with my best friends. I've actually been an absolute fan of spareribs for years, ever since The Ash opened there. I drag all my friends and acquaintances there. But unfortunately the quality and quantity are decreasing and on the other hand the price is constantly increasing. What started in 2019 with 2 racks in juicy sauce is now just maybe. 1 rack in a black tough marinade. Kölsch prices are 70% more expensive even for a 0.4er than in the surrounding pubs/restaurants. Good meat, it can cost a bit, but the quantity and price screws have probably been increased here. I don't know if this is a phenomenon on Hahnenstrasse. I've only been here so far... I'm disappointed.

Service was really great! As a guest you are treated like a king! Food was incredibly delicious! Truly the best burger I've had in a long time! Highly recommended

A piece of burrata on 4 tomato slices for 18€?!? That's a bit exaggerated... otherwise the meat for the main course was delicious and the service was very nice.

Simply outrageous... Over an hour waiting time for food and a drink! Burger was served cold, fries were undercooked and the steak was partly tough. The service staff simply ignored us. After “calling” several times, the order was reluctantly taken. We don't accept the excuse that other guests had already waited 1-1 1/2 hours for their food. The service is just terrible. You feel completely unwanted as a guest. Prices are simply too high for quality and service.. In any case, we won't be coming back again.

Unfortunately our visit to “The Ash” today was disappointing. We ordered our meat medium plus, but it was served completely cooked through. When we complained, the manager came to our table - but instead of solving the problem, he actually tried to explain to us that the well-done meat was medium plus. Very unprofessional and not at all customer oriented. For a restaurant in this price range, we would definitely have expected better service and an appropriate response to legitimate criticism. Unfortunately not recommended!

Steak okay, Burger lukewarm, Fries not completely done, Bottle of water from the "own machine" tastes stale, Wine was delicious Service was nice and nice (but still have to practice) Conclusion: All good things are 3. The last time for me. There is no relationship between price and performance. Dear owners, do it right or leave it. A shop in this location is far too good for mediocre food.

Absolutely disappointing! I had high expectations, but unfortunately I was disappointed in every way. The service was terrible - unfriendly staff who didn't care at all about customers' needs. The product was of poor quality and did not correspond to the description at all. I ordered a steak, more than half of which was just fatty. There was no sign of professionalism or care. I will definitely never buy from here again and cannot recommend it to anyone. Absolute waste of time and money!”

In terms of food we can highly recommend it, service is good, ambience is rather average.

The temperature in the restaurant felt like 18 degrees. There were small electric ovens on the windowsill. The service seemed unmotivated. When asked whether the Kölsch (0.25 liters) was really 4.50 euros!!! The service reacted strangely and explained the cost pressure and that a steak costs 20 euros when purchased. When we ordered bottled beer we were actually asked if we wanted a glass, we got one, but from a different brand. The starter came quickly and was tasty. We ordered spare ribs, steaks and burgers. We were all happy with the food. The restaurant has lost a lot of its former class. Unfortunately, we can no longer recommend it.

Food is okay. Unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. Empty glasses are not cleared away, the starter plates were still on the table during the main course and were not cleared even then. Service inattentive & slow. The sauce was missing from our order. When asked, the response was annoyed. All in all an average experience, nothing special. We skipped dessert because of the long waiting times. The owners could make so much more sales with a smart service team.

Overrated, cold, snippy service - all in all rather generic

The food was really burnt and totally disgusting. Afterwards we went somewhere else to eat for €84 for almost nothing. Never again not recommended.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just disappointed We had stated that we wanted to sit inside on Valentine's Day but then had to go out without the heating working. It was very cold and almost everyone was sitting there with a winter jacket, our feet were frozen because the ground was ice cold, I was wearing a blanket the whole time because it was so cold. We then ordered and the drinks didn't arrive until half an hour later, which is why we asked shortly beforehand when they would come. The starter came quickly and was very tasty. We then waited almost 2 hours for the main course and when it arrived it was no longer hot but lukewarm but because we were so hungry we didn't say anything and ate it. The waiter was nice but had the feeling he was overwhelmed

Were there as a couple. Appetizer and steak. From the ambience I can say that everything is very nicely decorated. Tables are a bit close together, but that's ok. Sat near the terrace, where unfortunately there was a cold draft. Closing the door was not possible. As a starter we had the “King Prawns” with bread. The 6 shrimp looked like they were cooked over low heat or in the microwave. There was also a single slice of bread with holes in it. I ordered the sirloin steak medium rare and got it that way. The herb butter costs extra is a joke. Luckily I didn't have to pay for the salt... The side dish "Mac & Cheese" tasted like a convenience product. In the end everything was okay, but I could have actually done better at home - even as an amateur.

Visit on February 15, 2025, 2:30 p.m. The first thing the waiter asks is whether we have a reservation, I say no and he already makes a funny face. But almost all tables were free on Saturday lunchtime. He takes us to a table and gives us the menu. Then nothing happens for about 15 minutes, even though there was almost nothing going on. Another waiter, who obviously cannot or is not allowed to take orders, notices that we have been sitting there for a long time and says that the waiter will be there soon. He then walks past behind the counter again without noticing us. There the colleague draws his attention to the fact that we finally want to order, but he still doesn't come to our table because he obviously doesn't feel like it. He seems completely indifferent and bored. We're going again. The hard-working waiter says he's sorry, but the waiter who missed his job/job doesn't care. Not recommended this store. It also smelled unpleasantly of grease. Ultimately I'm glad we weren't served, we would have paid a lot of money for bad food, as you can see from many other reviews here.

NO FOOD after 1 1/2 hrs wait time!!!!! Bunch of kid-waiters running around with no experience. No one checked on us the entire time. Profit-making schemers. Arrived before reservation, ordered food with drinks and after 60 minutes were told it will be another 10 mts. Left after 90 mts…total “schikimicki” establishment. DO NOT GO ON HOLIDAYS & SPECIAL OCCASIONS! Valentine’s Day (Friday night) total waste of our time! Heaters didn’t work on balcony….DISASTER ON DATE NIGHT.

Absolute disaster – never again! If you feel like waiting over an hour for your food, then getting the wrong order and then being served cold, inedible food at the end, this is the place for you. Unfortunately, that was exactly our experience. No apology, no accommodation - instead unfriendliness and zero service awareness. A store that obviously knows neither organization nor quality. Save yourself the money and the hassle - there are enough good restaurants in Cologne, but this is definitely not one of them.

The Ash restaurant in Cologne offers very good food, especially the steaks are of high quality and definitely worth the price. Unfortunately, the service was a bit lacking in speed as it really took a long time for the food to arrive and not all dishes were served at the same time. Some of our group had to wait longer, which was a bit annoying. The staff is friendly, but could go a step further in terms of friendliness. The price is definitely sporty - paying over 500 euros for 5 adults and 2 children is quite a price. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether it's worth it, but if you like high-quality steaks, you'll definitely find what you're looking for here.

It was a great evening for us, the food was very tasty and served quickly, the staff is very friendly and accommodating, they cater to every request. We were really very satisfied… always happy again 🤙🏼

...and once again just an unfriendly rip-off. A bowl of fries, not nearly full, far too little for 1 adult. When we asked if we could have a little more fries, we only got the stupid answer: "No, that's standard or regulation..."... these are really just penny items! When we replied, we won't be coming anymore, it probably didn't matter, well, who loses Probably the job in the end...we probably won't. Forget The Ash!

Just great! Food was incredibly good, just wow. The atmosphere was great, you immediately felt comfortable, service was also very good! I can only recommend it! The money is definitely worth it!

Alles war perfekt wie immer. Wir sind öfters da und sehr zufrieden.

Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Essen kam zügig und war sehr lecker, das Steak kam wie gewünscht medium rare. Wir saßen leider an einem Mini Tisch (man sollte vielleicht mal überlegen, ob man die Tische für 2 Personen vergrößert, so war kaum Platz auf dem Tisch und man fühlte sich beengt). Außerdem saßen wir genau gegenüber der Küche und im Durchzug, es war gleichzeitig sehr laut und hat gezogen, dadurch war das Essen leider total schnell sehr kalt. Schade! Wir hatten nach einem größeren Tisch gefragt, das wurde verneint, die wären reserviert für mehr Personen. Nachher saßen dann aber an den größeren Tischen auch nur je 2 Personen. Das hat etwas gestört, aber wir kommen dennoch auf jeden Fall wieder.

Essen war lecker Service sehr freundlich jedoch war es sehr kalt im Restaurant.

Wir hatten das Ash ausgewählt weil es zu den besten Steakhouses in Deutschland gehört! Und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht! Wer was günstiges sucht, ist hier zwar falsch, ABER, wer ein perfektes Steak sucht, ist hier absolut an der richtigen Adresse!!! Das Teres Major ist ein Traum und das geniale Chimichurri sollte man unbedingt zum Steak dazu nehmen! Daher muss man sagen, dass die Preise gerechtfertigt sind! Wir können es nur empfehlen und kommen gerne wieder!

The table was an absolute disaster, it went from back to front that I had to cover the prices in a restaurant and that was already the beginning. Then wait 30 minutes for the food, result... it was cold and a ribeye steak was cold... the Aperol was only a small taste and the rest was sparkling water with a little prosecco. Absolutely not recommended.

Schöne Location. Das Essen war lecker und die Bedienung freundlich und schnell. Lediglich der Geräuschpegel war recht hoch.

We had a reservation for New Year's Eve, but this wasn't shown to The Ash team and even though the house was full and everything was reserved, we still got the place. The store has a lot of potential and Emircan did everything to make us feel comfortable ☺️. The supreme chicken was unfortunately a bit dry, but very tasty. The sauce swap request was also accommodated. If we end up in Cologne again, we might end up here again.

We were not informed that our reservation was limited in time. We were only told this 10 minutes before we had to leave (as we were just getting another round of drinks!). Simply annoying and left an incredibly negative impression of this restaurant. Won't come anymore. Nevertheless, I have to say that the food itself was good and our waiter was also very friendly. The restaurant is also beautifully decorated per se.

Dry âge meat was actually not tasty at all , seemed like fresh meat Prices didn't fit the quality served. Good atmosphere btw, but maybe more for a burger than meat.

Super Essen, vielleicht etwas laute Musik, aber wenn man sich selbst unterhält, dann hört man das nicht mehr. Wir hatten reserviert für Silvester und ein Fensterplatz bekommen, hier zog es etwas an die Beine, aber das ist bei vielen Restaurasnts so.

It was a restaurant we chose for my birthday. Hamburger and steak were very delicious. The cake and celebration they brought for my birthday was very nice. The waiters are attentive and friendly. Thank you for the service. ♥️

The menu featured truffle pasta with mountain cheese and mushrooms. I really felt like it. Unfortunately, what came wasn't great. You could eat it but it was only lukewarm (my blackheads' burgers weren't hot either), drowned in oil, the mushrooms were soggy and I saw or tasted zero cheese. What a shame! Next time I'll order burgers again 😉

Service war nicht gut. Wir mussten 3 mal fragen bis wir das fehlende Getränk bekommen haben. Das Essen war auch nicht besonders gut. Fleisch war kalt und verbrannt. Die Pommes ebenfalls. Für uns eher enttäuschend.

Sehr gutes und lecker zubereitetes Fleisch. Für Vegetarier und Veganer gibt es auch ein gutes Angebot. Unser Vegetarier war jedenfalls begeistert. Die Stühle sind sehr bequem.

Leider musste ich mein Essen zurück gehen lassen, da das Fleisch zäh war. Beim 2. Versuch war es gut.

Wir sollten trotz frühzeitiger Reservierung auf der, mit einem Zelt überdachten Terasse, am 1. Weihnachtstag, sitzen. Wurden dann auf Wunsch nach drinnen gesetzt. Es war unfassbar kalt, trotz 2 Decken und Jacke. Getränke dauerten 25 min und Essen fast 60 Minuten. Preis Leistung stimmen null. Viel zu teuer für die angebotene Qualität. In den Getränken mehr Eis als Flüssigkeit. Speisen im besten Fall mittelmäßig. Sie sind bemüht, jedoch kein 2. Mal für uns.

Excellent steaks and very friendly service.

Good food, reasonable for the price range. The service was tried hard, but apparently understaffed. We waited forever for our drinks - they came at some point when our food was cold. Ambience not nice, everything very loud and totally overcrowded. The next table was placed about 30 cm away from us and our table was tiny, not even shoulder-width square. Here, the guest noticeably tried to accommodate as many guests as possible at the same time - not nice.

Wir haben hervorragend gegessen. Besonders hervorheben ist die Freundlichkeit des für uns zuständigen Kellners. Und das Ambiente im Zelt auf der Terrasse war wunderschön.

The atmosphere is a little cold with no soul. We waited definitely too much for receiving both the menú and the food. However, the taste was good.

Wir gehen schon seit Jahren jedes Jahr im Dezember hier essen. Dieses Jahr war es wohl das letzte Mal. Ein Tisch direkt an der Küche/Grillstation. Jede Diskussion vom Personal konnten wir mitbekommen und es war unfassbar warm direkt an der Küche. Unsere Vorspeise haben wir auf Nachfrage nach einer Stunde servier bekommen. Die lange Wartezeit lang an zwei größeren Gesellschaften. Komisch fanden wir daran nur, dass Gäste die nach uns kamen, vor uns bereits ihr Essen hatten. Blöde Ausrede, wir sind ja schließlich nicht blind. Hier wäre es einfach nett gewesen, wenn man ehrlich gewesen wäre. Da fühlt man sich als Gast etwas verar…. Aber darüber braucht man sich ja nicht ärgern, Köln bietet genügend alternative Gastronomie

Essen gut, Service gut. Perfekt für eine Business Lunch.

Nun die Bedienung war sehr nett und die Ambiente war angenehm, jedoch war das Essen nicht brennend. Wir hatten das Sorloin Steak bestellt. Es war wie kaugummi und sehr fest (wir hatten medium bestellt). Der Preis (22 Euro) war demnach unserer Meinung nicht gerechtfertig für 200 gramm Fleisch. Vielleicht hatten wir einfach das Falsche bestellt.

Overall not too bad an experience, and was happy to get a table on a Friday night. Our group thought the food was pretty good, although my steak was kind of on the dry side.

“The ASH” thrilled me across the board! Stylish ambience, first-class service and food that leaves nothing to be desired. The steaks were perfectly prepared and the side dishes were creative and tasty. I was particularly impressed by the attention to detail – from the quality of the ingredients to the atmosphere. A culinary experience that I can fully recommend. I'll definitely be back! 5 out of 5 stars!

As we have a limited German vocabulary, the staff went out of their way to make us feel appreciated and welcome. Outstanding food at a good price. We will visit again!

Above L’Osteria, “The Ash” seems a bit inaccessible, but that’s deceptive! Go up the stairs and you will be greeted in a friendly and competent manner. Very good service, great food quality!

Best beef fillet. Absolutely perfect attentive service. I was 100% satisfied.

Cool steakhouse. Despite good organization, the service can take a while, but this is not due to the quality of the staff, but rather the ratio of the number of guests. Burgers were generally praised, as was my rib eye, although I was glad I ordered medium rare, so at least it came out medium. Otherwise a repeatable experience if you're willing to pay the prices.

Service is not hospitable. You cannot say hello at checkout. I didn't tip because I had to wait a long time and he walked away from me while I said good evening. Don't come here again. If you treat your guests like this...

Freundlicher Service, sehr leckeres Essen, ruhige Atmosphäre...sehr gerne wieder und definitiv zu empfehlen!

Waren gestern da hatten Betriebs Weihnachtsfeier. am Anfang war alles ganz nett und dann fing das an, da wurde ein Getränk verschüttet. Dann sprang eine Tomate vom Teller,zwei Getränke vergessen und es ein bisschen ungemütlich. Der Kellner war nicht mehr so ganz bei der Sache und man konnte beobachten wie die Köche, ohne ihre Hände dazwischen gewaschen zu haben die Teller und das Essen angefasst haben. Es war nicht gerade appetitlich da würde ich sagen, bei so einer offenen Küche sollte man da drauf achten, dass die Hygiene vorhanden ist. Ansonsten über das Essen kann man nicht meckern Ambiente war super vielleicht muss man an dem Rest einfach nur ein bisschen arbeiten !

Das Essen war ausgezeichnet. Der Service ist jedoch verbesserungswürdig. Die Preisgestaltung konnte ich nicht nachvollziehen. z.B. 1 Kölsch 0,2l über 4€ , 1 Rumpsteak 200g etwa 23€ 250g etwa 33€ Es hat ewig gedauert bis jemand wieder nachgefragt hat ob noch jemand etwas haben möchte.

Stopped for Lunch on our final day of holiday. Short walk from Rudolfplatz christmas markets and delicious food! Fresh lemonade was very tasty and refreshing!

Great and attentive team! Great food, it's just a shame that Teres major was already sold out at 6 p.m. on a Saturday evening. I had stated that it was my friend's birthday so there was a small cake + sparkler & a serenade :-) really great! We'd love to come back.

Food (steak) basically okay. At lunchtime until 5 p.m. also a reasonable price. But clearly overpriced for the evening menu. Unfortunately, the other pricing policy is not very customer-friendly and is also sometimes overpriced. As soon as you sit down, you are asked which water you would like, giving the impression that it is free. But later billed at around €6.50. The same applies to all others such as herb butter etc. Therefore only 3 stars overall.

Leider waren die Trüffelpasta nicht so gut, wie ich sie schon bei zwei anderen Ashs gegessen habe. Im Restaurant ist es sehr kalt, man sollte mal die Heizung anstellen
