THÀNH KOCH in Berlin

Actually, this used to be my go-to restaurant when it comes to Vietnamese food. Unfortunately it wore off... still tasty and authentic. It's a bit noisy, so you can eat in peace and comfort, which didn't bother us at all. But I can imagine that some people aren't used to it.

Been going here for years. The best Pho in town

This is a warning to all vegans. If they tell you that some of the dishes on the (exclusively non-vegan) menu are also available as vegan, that's not true! It was still full of egg. Before we threw it away, we ate it anyway and it tasted pretty good. But no better than any train station snack bar. I just read something about a special slightly more expensive menu card, I thought it was pretty expensive. But the waiters were very nice.

Rare beef noodle soup served with garlic vinegar and stir-fry is delicious.

Honestly, the food is bad. Large portions for Westerners are fine. It used to be edible, but it's gotten worse and worse.

Dishes are not seasoned well. Some guests had ordered sauces for seasoning at the table. But it couldn't spice up my lime sauce.

To be honest, there was nothing that didn't live. The table, benches, salt and pepper shakers, everything was stuck with dirt. Even the waiter was dressed shabbily. The food was pretty good. So I never again.

Not sure why the influencer from sosmed said this resto has best pho in berlin 😅😅. It was not true and not yummy unfortunately, bland and feel disappointed 😐😐. Onkel ho in prenzlauerberg or dong xuan centre has more yummy pho than this restaurant, sorry for this honest review 🙄🙄

Mega ambience, great value for money for the food and nothing to complain about...sometimes you feel overlooked in the service. Nevertheless, all in all really recommended.

To be honest, I really like Thanh Koch's pho. But on the side there are unpleasant things, such as: we ordered dishes and didn't want to order drinks. But the behavior of waitresses from restaurant was very bad and repeat with wide open eyes "no drinks?". I don't care, at the end, when we pay, the colleague here said again "food without drinks". I thought, why do we have to order drinks when we are not thirsty, have no need???? That was really really unpleasant and I feel no respect here.

The dishes are poorly cooked, the only thing is the noodle soup which is ok. 2 different menus, just a few sheets of paper, no pictures and, above all, different cards, very bad. Not recommendable. The duck was crispy, the duck was tough and the breading was sometimes not fried at all. The salad was sandy and should be washed better.

Like many other restaurants in Berlin, they specialize in Northern cuisine so even though there are Southern/Central foods on the menu, I’d not order them. I got Bún Bò Huế and it wasn’t good. But dishes like Bún Cá and Phở were delightful. Staffs were friendly.

We visited Berlin over Easter and the shop was recommended to us because it serves authentic Vietnamese dishes. It can get very busy on public holidays and weekends, so if you're going with four or more people, you should reserve a table So it was very crowded on Sunday, but we still managed to get a table. Ihr findet hier nette Atmosphäre. Bedienung ist freundlich. Das Essen hat mir sehr gut geschmeckt. Es gab sogar frische Chilis und Ingwer zum würzen. You will find a nice atmosphere here. Service is friendly. I liked the food very much. There were even fresh chilies and ginger for seasoning.

After a recommendation on TikTok we were guests here today and what can I say: The “menu” is a cheap loose-leaf binder, flies everywhere, the white wine wasn’t chilled enough and wasn’t even listed by name on the “drinks menu”. Baked ducks were left uncovered on the counter to cool. I had this on the plate alongside the sauce, vegetables and rice and unfortunately it was dry. My request for dessert was unsuccessful as nothing sweet was offered. We like going to Asian restaurants but not here anymore. Make up your own mind.

We ate here yesterday based on Blocki's recommendation and were extremely disappointed. The worst Pho we have ever eaten. There was a lack of salt and boom. The summer rolls with the dry chicken in them were also very, very bad. We won't be coming back.

I've enjoyed going there for years. The service is quick and friendly and the food always tastes good. We also ordered and picked up by phone, everything worked wonderfully.

The waitress is artful and cunning. Food price is not transparent. And questionable food safety. I ordered chicken stir fried noodle, whose price is 11.90€ on the menu. I also ordered a lemonade based on the suggestion of the waitress, but didn't take a look at its price on the menu. In the end, they charged me 15€ for the noodle dish (this price does not appear on the menu) and 5€ for a small glass of lemonade. Ridiculously overpriced! When I asked the waitress about the price, she told me that it was because I chose the ingredient as "pasta" instead of "ramen". She just made up a nonsense reason to cover it up. Attach in this review is the receipt of our dinner when I asked for it. On top of all that, I and my friend got food poisoning the next morning, which we could only suspect it was caused by the food from this restaurant.

I'm usually a big fan of Vietnamese Pho restaurant, have visited several times and have always been satisfied. But what I recently experienced left me deeply disappointed. Although I still appreciate the quality of the food, the handling of our currency exchange was unacceptable. We ordered soups for two and paid 50 euros in cash as it is a cash-only establishment. We were expecting around €24 in change, but in the end we were €10 short. When we noticed this mistake shortly after leaving the restaurant and immediately pointed it out, we were treated as if an eternity had passed. Despite checking security footage - in which the cash register situation was unfortunately not visible - we only received an apologetic rejection with the suggestion that we had probably lost the money somewhere. A completely impossible assumption, as we discovered the shortfall immediately after leaving the restaurant. The way the situation was handled was extremely unprofessional. For a cash-only restaurant, I expect more careful handling of change. This was particularly disappointing as it was my friend's first visit and he came on my recommendation. The food may be good, but future guests should be aware that there may be issues with giving change correctly. A warning to everyone: pay close attention to your change.

Von uns aus gibts auch nichts negatives zu berichten. Alle Damen waren äußerst herzlich und freundlich. Das Essen schmeckte auch sehr gut, hätte nur etwas heißer sein können.

After some research you find out that what is supposed to be the best Vietnamese in the city. Here you can probably also get original Vietnamese dishes BESIDES Pho. Unfortunately we didn't get this menu, but we didn't specifically ask because we initially only came for the Pho. The menu is kept compact, which I find to be very positive. It was pretty empty for a Saturday evening at 6 p.m. The service is friendly but not overly caring. The prices are really moderate, I know that differently from other cities. The Pho was extremely tasty. The broth was pleasantly spicy and fresh. Unlike what I know, you don't get an additional plate with lemon/lime and herbs here. Spring onions and coriander were also already included in the bowl. Certainly one would have received one upon request. However, you can choose from chili oil, Sriracha and pickled garlic. If you choose the Pho with the beef, you get very finely sliced ​​beef which cooks in the broth. The noodles were perfectly cooked. All in all, I can recommend the restaurant. I'll definitely come back again.

Were here for lunch. I had the spring rolls and a pho - both were absolutely terrific. Especially the Pho - I've never eaten a better one. My wife had the starter salad and a rice noodle bowl with spring rolls on top. The bowl was a bit uninspired because apart from spring rolls, the bowl actually only consisted of vermicelli noodles and there wasn't much else to it. Overall, we were very satisfied, the atmosphere is great and the service was very friendly!

I went for lunch and the restaurant was not very crowded at that time. There was a man clearing the table. I asked if I could sit here. He said, "Just one person, so sit next to the inside." I'm OK. Then order a bowl of pho with fried noodles. I waited for about 10-15 minutes, didn't see anything, so I asked another friend to see if he had done it for me yet, and he said he hadn't done anything yet. Great service. 😉

The Phở and Canh are very tasty. I can also recommend the coffee which is made just as intense in flavour as the ones I enjoyed throughout Vietnam. There's plenty seating available indoor with a few tables outdoor.

Wir haben in dem Restaurant heute lecker zu Abend gegessen. Das Essen war klasse und der Service sehr freundlich. Die Ambientemusik hat auch dazu beigetragen, dass wir uns wohlgefühlt haben. Es war ausschließlich Barzahlung möglich.

Leider nichts für Vegetarier/Veganer. In allen Gerichten ist Fischsosse enthalten. Auf Nachfrage welche Gerichte Vegetarisch sind konnte mir die Bedienung keine Antwort geben da sie mich nicht verstanden hat, da sie kaum Deutsch oder Englisch gesprochen hat. In meinem Gericht mit Tofu waren kleine Stücke von Hühnchen enthalten🤮 Einfach ein No-Go!!! Ausserdem enthalten die Gerichte Glutamat, was zu Bauchschmerzen bei mir und meinen Begleitern führte.

Eines der besten und authentischsten vietnamesischen Restaurants der Stadt. Wer kein Bock auf fancy Läden hat und einfach nur sehr gutes vietnamesisches Essen sucht, der wird hier fündig.

Đồ ăn bình thường, có món ngon món không, thiết nghĩ chủ nên chỉnh đốn lại cách hành xử của nhân viên khi khách hàng phản hồi về các món ăn. Nếu nhân viên lâu năm thì càng nên chú ý và đào tạo kĩ hơn, vì nếu thức ăn ngon nhưng nhân viên tệ thì chắc chắn sẽ mất khách. Quán mở ra cũng đã nhiều năm rồi, đừng để thái độ của nhân viên làm ảnh hưởng đến danh tiếng của quán. Tôi sẽ không đến quán lần nào nữa!

Eigentlich in einem ehemaligen Industriegebiet Ostberlin, Lichtenberg gelegen. VEB Elektrokohle, EKL. Dieser Betrieb mit 3000 Beschäftigten war der einzige Hersteller für Graphitprodukte in der DDR. Er war lokalisiert in der Herzbergstraße 128 - 140. 88.000 m2 davon wurden nach der Wende in ein asiatisches Kultur - und Handelszentrum mit 5 Grossmarkthallen umgebaut. Das gesamte Gesamtensemble wird steht auf der Berliner Landesdenkmalliste. Viele Vietnamesen haben zu DDR Zeiten da schwer malocht in diesem schmutzigen, harten Industriegebiet. Sie nutzen zahlreich dort nach der Wende eine selbständige Handels - und Produktionstätigkeit da aufzubauen, um ein neues Leben auch hier in vereinigten Deutschland zu beginnen. Heute existiert schon eine zweite, sehr fleißige Generation mit excellenten Deutschkenntnissen. In der ehemaligen Feierabendkneipe der schwer arbeitenden Elektroköhler befindet sich direkt in Front der Herzbergstraße verkehrsgünstig an einer Strassenbahnhaltestelle das neue vietnamesische Restaurant HONGKIM. Sogar der Außenminister Vietnams war schon dort zu Gast. Es ist sehr authentische, vietnamesische Küche im einfachen Ambiente. Am Samstagabend den 11.11.2023 waren da fast 80% vietnamesische und Gäste aus Hongkong und Singapur. Wir saßen am grossen Tisch mit Singapurmalyen und Hongkong Chinesen zusammen und kamen sofort ins Gespräch. Sehr freundlich und nett. Die Küche muss so gut sein, daß sie sich in diese noch authentische, ärmliche Gegend hinbewegen, um das Essen zu genießen. Die Pho Suppe mit Hühnerbrühe, Reis Nudeln war außerordentlich lecker. Alle aßen grosse Suppen mit viel Fleisch und Gemüse als Extra Bestellung. Die Preise sind wegen der geringen Miete sehr moderat. Der Service ist holprig, aber nett. Die Küche hatte extrem viel zu arbeiten in kurzer Zeit. Ein Koch erzählte, daß er die Brühen am Tag vorher extrahiert und kocht. Also eine recht gute Empfehlung. Toller Ort mit vietnamesischem Essen! Man sollte auf jeden Fall mit einer großen Gruppe von Freunden kommen, um die Gerichte der umfangreichen Speisekarte zu probieren. Es ist sehr authentisch und lecker!

Quá tệ. Cần xem lại thái độ của nhân viên. Tôi và bạn tôi tới đây ăn rất nhiều lần rồi và đây là lần cuối . Tôi đặt món lòng , và 1 xuất bún riêng, và 1 bát phở cho đứa e , gọi nước có ga nhưng khi ra đồ thì nước là nước k ga , bún được cho chung vào phở và có một chùm lông trong đó , lần 1 đã gắp ra và k nói gì nhưng ăn tiếp thì thêm 1-2 cái lông xoăn rồi đứa e nó nói k ăn nữa và có nói với nhân viên , bát phở gần như còn nguyên k dám ăn nữa . Sau khi tính tiền thì có thắc mắc là sao bát phở vẫn tính 14e trong khi trên karte là 13 e thì nv nói là tưởng cho bún vào bát phở nên đã cho vào trong bát phở trong khi chúng tôi gọi là 1 xuất bún riêng , thay vì 1 lời xin lỗi thì có nhân viên nam ở ngoài nói là thôi trả anh ấy 1 đồng , thứ chúng tôi cần k phải là 1 đồng và thậm chí còn cho thêm 2 đồng và thôi coi như tạm biệt quán và k bao giờ tới nữa

Das beste und authentischste vietnamesische Restaurant in Europa!!!! Auf Empfehlung von den Goldies Jungs haben wir den Laden besucht und uns einmal durch die Karte "gefressen". Es gibt mehrere Karten, eine mit eher Standart Gerichten, die "schwarze" mit traditionellen Speisen, die man richtig gut teilen kann. Unsere nette Bedienung hat uns toll beraten. Ich kann den Bananennlütensalat und Papayasalat als Starter zum sharen empfehlen, gefolgt von Riesengarnelen mit geilen Gewürzen und Rindfleisch mit gebratenem Gemüse. Achtung, die Portionen sind richtig groß, bestellt euch das am besten peu a peu. Bis ganz bald!!!

Das Bun mit Frühlingsrollen war einfach der Hammer! Manchmal träume ich nachts davon! Schmeckt genau wie in Vietnam.

Essen: Essen war lecker, aber hat sich von anderen Vietnamesen nicht stark abgehoben. Hier war aber der Preis der Sommerrollen mit 3,90€ wesentlich günstiger als bei anderen Vietnamesen. Service: Der Service hat einem initial einen Platz zugewiesen und die Speisekarten verteilt. Kurz darauf wurde die Bestellung aufgenommen. Das Essen gebracht und nach Hinweis bezahlt. Nach unserem Empfinden hat der Service einfach nicht hervorgestochen an dem Tag.

Große Portionen zu einem fairen Preis

Vi bestilte stegte nudler med kylling, maden smagte autentisk og var lækker, maden kom hurtigt og den mandlige tjener var sød & meget rar. Da vi skulle betale var det desværre kun kontant, dette var der ikke skiltet med nogle steder og hende (damen) der tog imod betaling virkede meget sur, da vi spurgte om vi kunne betale med kort. Alt i alt en god oplevelse med maden, bare en skam at de ikke skiltede med at man IKKE kan betale med kort.

I got seriously headache after i eat Pho here. Last time was fine. it was a no go for me next time

Gute Speisen. Preis/Leistung fragwürdig. Wir hatten Stör bestellt, der war leider aus. Dafür gabs stattdessen "Fischbouletten". Qualitativ und geschmacklich ok, aber 40€ für einen Teller mit einem "Ersatzgericht" ist drüber. Selbst für den eigentlich bestellten Stör hätte ich gerne die Portion gesehen, die den Preis rechtfertigt. Alles in allem sehr schade, denn wir fühlten uns sehr willkommen und das Essen war Tip Top. Nur eben preislich absolut unangemessen.

늦은 저녁에 식사를 하러 가긴했지만, 직원분이 자리를 인도해줘 음식을 주문했으나, 독일어를 거의 못하셔서 대화가 불가능했고, 화장실도 너무 더럽고, 레스토랑 주인같은 분의 친구분들이 출입문 옆테이블에 앉아 개인모임을 하는중 성인남성 다섯분이 종일 줄담배를 피워서 식사를 하는 동안 비흡연자인 저는 호흡하기가 너무 힘들었습니다. 직원들도 너무 불친절하고 손님에 대한 배려가 없어. 두번다시 방문하고 싶지 않습니다.

Authentisch vietnamesisches Restaurant. Servicekräfte können kein/kaum deutsch. Egaaaaaaal - Essen schmeckt soooo lecka 🤤🤤🤤, Service ist mega freundlich und Ambiente ist, als wenn Du direkt in Vietnam isst. Geht bitte nicht hin, sonst wird es wieder ein Hypeladen und bleibt nicht so cool. 😉✌️

The food didn’t taste good. Very oily fried rice and noodles. Two of my friends I was eating with didn’t feel well the next day. The lady who took the orders was very nice and welcoming though.

PHỞ BÒ hương VỊT Đã từng nghe nhiều người khen phở quán Thanh Koch đỉnh nhất Berlin, hôm nay tôi mới có dịp dẫn cả gia đình ghé quán để thưởng thức. Chúng tôi gọi 2 xuất phở bò tái nạm và 1 phở bò tái. Phần bánh phở và thịt rất ok, tôi rất hài lòng. Đi kèm vs ớt và tỏi ngâm bên ngoài. Riêng mùi nước phở rất kỳ lạ. Rất hôi, hôi như mùi vịt đi mưa ấy. Vừa ăn tôi vừa nghĩ chắc là vị riêng của Phở Thanh Koch chứ không phải mùi vịt đâu. Ăn được 1/3 bát tôi thấy anh phục vụ bê ra một đĩa vịt luộc cho bàn bên. Cũng là người làm trong lĩnh vực nhà hàng. Tôi hiểu ngay anh đầu bếp của quán đã dùng cái muôi dùng cho món VỊT để múc nước dùng cho những bát phở mà chúng tôi đặt. Thật đen đủi cho chúng tôi ngày hôm nay.

Wir sind öfters hier und finden das Essen sehr lecker. Das „Bun Cha Hanoi“ (und die anderen Gerichte) von denen sind so authentisch und ist mit das beste, das ich in Berlin kenne. Die Teller werden immer sehr voll gebracht, sodass das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis eine 10/10 ist. Das Fleisch muss bei den Vietnamesen etwas fettiger sein, sodass es saftig ist. Auf jeden Fall eine 10/10. Super ist auch, dass die Kellner uns nicht jedes mal fragen ob alles in Ordnung ist, sodass wir ganz in Ruhe unser Essen genießen können. Wenn wir was brauchen melden wir uns und die Kellner sind sofort da. (Typisch Vietnamesisch) Wenn wir in der Nähe oder im Dong Xuan sind, kommen wir immer wieder 😍

“Phở tái nạm gầu” is excellent. It’s been a long time since I last tasted such delicious bowl of Phở. It is probably one of the best outside of Vietnam. Everything is absolutely authentic. They also offered special garlic vinegar (dấm tỏi) to go with Phở. That’s kinda rare to see here. Huge plus to the taste.

Essen ist ausreichend viel. Für diese haben wir ca. 60€ bezahlt. Ich finde es ist ein bisschen hoch der Preis. Wir hatten nur einmal Getränke (Tee) Negativ ist das Menü aus ein Schnellheft gemacht wurde 😄

Kein Hallo beim Betreten des Restaurants. Die Speisekarten sind dreckig und die Fliegen fühlen sich in dem unangenehmen Geruch vor Ort besonders wohl. Essen ist auch nur eine 4 von 10. Enttäuschend für den Preis!

Thật sự là quá thất vọng về thái độ của chị nhân viên tóc ngắn 🙄, trưa nay mình có đến ăn ở quán và mình chỉ muốn xem menu để dễ chọn món thôi, vậy mà phản ứng của chị nhân viên tóc ngắn là đứng đơ ra, vẻ mặt khó chịu và không hồi đáp lại🙄🙄, mình đang k hiểu là mình có thù oán gì với chị ấy k ? Mà sao vẻ mặt chị cứ khó chịu với khách hàng như thế mặc dù mình chẳng làm gì 🙄.

Einer der besseren Orte um eine Pho zu genießen. Geschmacklich ist die Pho eine 8/10 dazu kann man Quay bestellen frittierte Brotstangen die sind eine 7/10. Ambiente ist nicht superschön aber okay. Der Service ist entgegen anderer Bewertungen nicht unfreundlich oder sonst was. Bestellung wurde zügig aufgenommen, Essen kam nach ca. 10min. Der Kellner hat uns zwischendurch auch gefragt ob wir noch mehr Brotstangen haben wollen. Nur die Soßen/Chilis/Zitronen etc. wurden von einem Tisch zum anderen Tisch rumgereicht während wir noch gegessen haben. Entweder haben die zu wenige Sets oder zu faul ein neues pro Tisch zu holen. Zum Casual Essen mit Freunden oder Familie ist das Restaurant zu empfehlen.

Từ xua đến giờ lúc nào cũng ăn quán này. Đồ ăn theo mình là ngon. Nhưng năm ngoái mình và mẹ với nhóm bạn đến ăn, họ đã bê ra 1 đĩa lòng, lòng và những thứ khác ok nhưng dồi thì thiu bốc mùi. Mình Cũng chỉ nhỏ nhẹ bảo em bồi là bê vào đi, lòng hỏng rồi em ạ. Mình ko quá bực bội vì mình biết lúc đông khách thì ko tránh được sơ xuất. Em bồi thì cũng vẫn vui vẻ nên mọi chuyện coi như không có gì. Mình vẫn đều đặn hàng tuần ăn ở quán này. Và hôm qua tụi mình có 3 nhà lại vào ăn. Họ bê ra đĩa lòng cũng lại là dồi bị thiu. Khi mình nói thì chị chủ rất ko vui và nói là đó là mùi lá gì đó, chi con nói rất to cho ca quán nghe là bọn em ko biết ăn lòng thì từ nay đừng bao giờ gọi lòng nhà chị. Tụi mình thật sự sốc với thái độ của chị chủ. Và tất nhiên là tụi mình sẽ ko bao giờ quay lại nữa. Họ thì rất đông khách, mình ko ăn thì có người khác ăn. Mình chỉ cảm thấy thật bực vì thái độ của chủ quán

Ich liebe vietnamesische Pho Suppe,hier findet man die Beste!Jedes Mal,wenn ich mal wieder in Berlin bin,muß ich einfach dieses nette,kleine Restaurant besuchen um diese absolut authentische vietnamesische Küche zu genießen!

The food are second to none! Think it's one of the best and authentic Vietnamese restaurants in Berlin. However the waitress should be re-trained on how to deliver customer service. Not so nice and friendly.

Sehr schlechter Service, schlechtes essen.

Best pho in town! Highly recommend the Phở bò tái nạm gầu and the cơm rang dưa bò. Tip: Ask for the vietnamese menu, as there are way more options, if you want to eat like the locals do. :) The nhậu dishes were also quite tasty, but also quite expensive, not really worth it.

This place is the real deal: mediocre rating on google, staff that does not understand you, location in the middle of nowhere and a tv running in the background. That is how we Asians now the food is the bomb! Besides dong xuan center, it’s the only place where Vietnamese people go to eat. Be warmed if you’re not used to the taste. Bun Bo hue was so good. I will keep coming back!

Lòng dồi thập cẩm is my favorite here, nicely done. You can order a set of bún đậu mắm tôm and it goes perfectly well with this set. This set is rather big so I think this should be for a group of three people.

Traditioneller Vietnamese zu dem auch viele Native Eater gehen ( wenn man das so sagen darf ). Ich hatte eine Pho und war begeistert! 🍲
